Good Morning Everyone from the humid but
cooler, rocky coast of Maine.

Larry,  I know that you will do what you need
to do to make your self as comfortable as
possible and keep your self  safe from falling.
(Which is never a good idea)..   Using a cane or
a cart is a good idea and helps other people
know that you need space to maneuver .....
I don't go out with out my white cane,  because
if I should,  I feel very vulnerable.  At least
most people know  to keep a safe distance
from people who are carrying something
to assist them along the way.

Joan,  I hope that  you enjoy your visit with
your family and glad to hear that Finley is
going to be with them.

Mary Ann that is good advice that you
are giving Gloria.    I always make a nice
long list of "issues",  and try to do what
they tell me to do,  one step at a time.
Also, ask the techs to stop and repeat
anything that I don't quite understand.
I deal with them like I would with
any business transaction,  while letting
them know that they need to proceed
slowly so I can keep up.

I have found the Techs that I work with
to be very helpful,  and if they can't fix
"what ever",  they bring in someone else
who usually can.   And try to remember
that " there is nothing to fear,  but
fear it self" ...  Most of the techs have
had a lot of experience with people who
have had little experience,  and they
usually are willing to work with us and
answer our questions.

Have a good day everyone.

Larry, thanks for the news about Pat & Jeanne Lee, I was afraid Pat wasn't up to par.  Neither of them let us know when they aren't well.. not like me, I'm whining with the first hic-cup!

Okay, Patricia, our bike path across the river from my house is high & dry after a week of being under.  My fish are all back, don't know how they find my little spot of ground but they flip & flop and I have to keep talking to them or they get bashful.  I figured they would be miles down river with the current so swift. Send your rain on down, we are all dried out.

Last night I decided it was time to clean the pool, have not been good about it & wind dropped lots of leaves in it this week.  Let it filter all night & now all done, no comment, choices, choices~   :bonk:

Joan, I know it would be a big chore to move again, sound it out with the kids.... ah, but just thinking about finding new doctors & all that trouble.... would it be worth having Finlay able to ride his bike over to visit?  As I said, "choices-choices"....  nothing is simple, is it?

Mary Ann, tell us true... bet that little girl really does look like you, not just the ears!  Sometimes there is a special place in our hearts for one person, no reason, just happens.  Too bad you aren't closer so you can teach her all about your side of the family, I'm sure Norm & Tim would love it.

Gloria, I've done all I can to the RV people, so far nothing back about my complaint to the Safety people and the local "on your side" station was busy with politics so think that wasn't even worth keeping my memo.....I've done battle for 2 years & now just want to get on with life.  Gave Ford a call but the guy that ordered the parts & supposed to make arrangements for having parts installed, isn't in or isn't taking my call. I am grounded until it gets fixed so am squinting at the world with eye lids at half mast.... not a pretty sight on an old lady!  Hang in there!   :tickedoff: :tissue: :angry2: :bash: :dontknow:   and just for you & me to cool down.........   :snowman: :snowball:

Lindancer

Good morning, up early as I go back to the hematologist to day, I guess Medicare approved the shot, as I did not get a call from the doctor. They will pay 80 % good for another 3 months.

MaryAnn, I find as time goes by I get very tired, even after a set down luncheon at RH's

Joan, enjoy your visit from the family. Know it will make you happy to finally see Finlay. I bet he has grown a lot.

Gloria, we also had very little rain, after saying heavy down pours. To day like you with low humidity, after yesterday 97.  Did you see that there are whales in the Long Island Sound? They are have trouble with people trying to get near them with small boats.  There is find for that, they are suppose to stay at lest  100 ft. away.

Larry glad you and Pat enjoyed your meal. Sounds like a place I would like. When we lived in Charleston with went to Ryan's on Sunday, Long John Silvers on Friday.  I like their hush puppies.

Jane, I have not been sleeping but and hour the last few nights. So somthing I do not do I took a Tylenol PM and slept from 11:30Pm to 8 this morning.

Mary Ann

Gloria D, it's comforting to read that others get tired too.  When/if I go to Indps next month, I probably will sleep most of the day after I arrive.  I am cautioning my cousin's son that I am an old lady!  He's not used to others in his home overnight, but he works during the day.

Mary Ann

June Drabek

Another Good morning and day in the making. We are Blessed.

Roley, it is so nice to see your post here. Please do come visit us more often.
Lloyd is usually one of the first ones here in the morning.

Janie, seeing your happy post is bound to make it a good day for all those that care for you. I'm glad you slept well last night, that alone is a big help. I did too, but I am sure slow in the mornings.

Amy, it is only going to be 84 for a high for us today, but I find that I will have to get used to the humidity from being nearer the ocean…I'm not that close,  about 8 or 10 miles from Seal Beach, but short enough for a damper climate. Coming from Hemet which was more of a desert climate does make a difference. I seldom broke a sweat back there, not so here.

Hal your doctors must know you very well…both inside and outside with all the testing they have done on you. I pray all is well.

Phyllis, I have no desire to leave the property here. We are surrounded by homes  and small shopping areas, but I am content inside our gates. And there is enough room on our four acres to get enough outdoor walking in, and enough greeting of other like-minded folk. We have a well stocked library, a small store, food we can help ourselves too at all hours, like fresh fruit and cereal and more during working hours. I feel very content. The computer takes me "out" to visit with all of you.

Larry, You are a very sensible personality, and I am sure you take no chances with your health. It seems you do have daily chores that you take care of and  I'm sure you do gauge what you can and cannot do. I do not want to turn into a couch potato, but it seems I'm growing closer to that stage.

Mary Ann, I find even a short trip out in an automobile can tire me out completely. I am so glad all my problems except dentistry and eyes can be taken care of right here at Rowntree…..unless I need a hospital….and that I want to avoid like the plague.

Bis, same here as far as rain is concerned. I have taken more cool showers this summer due to the change in humidity. I know how eager you must be to see your "kids" again Bis, and I think short visits are the best for us at this stage of life. At least I have no place to make big meals, so that is a relief.

Tisie, this is a good place to whine, we have many companions here that are going through the same stages and that is a consolation. You are one of our young ones, and I am happy that you can do all that you do. Carry on Girlfriend.

Gloria de, I am happy you had a good nights sleep, that does us a lot of good. And how fortunate that a Tylenol PM will do the trick for you.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

Lloyd.....wherefore art thou ????  We worry about you when you don't post !!!!!!!!!!!!!
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Sandy--I am excited that Finlay and family are coming to visit.  He will be 10 in Nov.

Shirley--Now that both Joe & family and Linda & Ed live in Alabama moving entered my mind.  But it's just too much, so I've decided to stay where I am.

Linedancer--Good that Medicare approved your shot.  They tell me Finlay is about as tall as DIL Kate--going to be a big boy.

Mary Ann--If you go to Indy next month are you flying or driving?

June--I have the place to cook big meals, but I just don't do it anymore.  Kate and Joe are both good cooks.

Well back from all the medical stuff.  Things went well, ordered my prescription and then went down to xray while they filled it and got that all done.  Had to undress for the xray, lower back, and put on some paper shorts, didn't take that long and had a couple of really nice techs.  Good thing they had strong backs, getting down and up off that 'hard' table is a chore.  Got through there and back to pick up the prescription and it was ready and no one at window......

We then stopped on the way back and I bought breakfast for SIL. The guy is a wonderful, patient man.  I am really blessed.

Shirley, I think I would go down to the dealership and camp on the owners desk till you get some satisfaction.  There is no reason in the world that you should have to endure the kid of treatment you have received.  Take one of your "biggest" boys with you to run interference.

June, I am okay.  Just worn out.

JoanFL

halkel--Glad you got your medical stuff taken care of.  Your SIL sure is good to you.

Joan, when I travel these days, someone takes me.  To go to Indps, Tom Tock would drive me to Merrillville IN where we would meet Tom Harton.  We'd have lunch, then Tom Tock would drive back alone and I'd go to Indps with Tom Harton.  We would reverse that to get me back home.  This works very well and keeps one of them from having to make the entire trip.

Mary Ann

Amy

Turned out to be a nice day..so  just called from South Carolina, will stay there overnight then head on to Toccoa GA said it was a tad hot there but at least there is a breeze blowing. His a/c on the truck stopped:( He is really impressed with the red flowering trees and I thought they might be the Myrtle trees we were talking about on here.  I will see if he can send me a photo.

Ok, I'm back from the eye dr and Beverly is still out running around with her sister so I have the house to myself for the first time in weeks.  I'm trying to decide what to do for dinner tonight and I think I'm going to recycle the ham and beans from last night.  We both like them and Beverly said something about having them again tonight.  Sounds like a plan.

My eyes have not progressed any further but I did have some bad news.  My sweet Dr Luu who was just married in May will be gone by the time I have my next appt.  Her new MIL has been diagnosed with cancer and is probably dying so they are moving to Raleigh, NC to be nearer to her so she doesn't have to go through all the procedures alone.  I will miss her!  She talks so I can understand what she is saying and if I look puzzled she explains.  And she lets me look at the pictures on the computer screen while she explains.  She's been very special to me.

June, I think I'm easier in my mind about Frankie since I know she's in a safe place with her mother who loves her.  I think I've become too old to mesh with a person as young as she is on a daily basis.  And I'm sure I frustrate her as much as she frustrates me.  I love her dearly and she will always be part of me and she will always have a place in my prayers and in my heart.

Now, I better be thinking about other things, like taking my clothes out of the dryer and folding them and putting them away.

Patricia, you didn't get any of that rain from here either.  We still have it!  It poured for about 20 minutes and slacked off to an easy rain for about 3 hours.  And it's supposed to be back later today and into the night.  We're keeping ours!  We really need it!

Have a good rest of the day, Everyfriend.

Mary Ann--That's a good plan to get you to and from Indy.

Amy--In this weather it's not very comfortable traveling when the a/c goes on your vehicle.

Janie--I'm sure it seems good to have the house to yourself for a little bit.  Too bad Dr. Luu is moving, but I'm sure you understand the reasoning.  Glad to hear there's no change in your eyes.

Busy day........called upon to help with grand's today.  Mama had to pick oldest grandson up from lacrosse camp at the same time his younger brother was to be at a birthday party.  Mark needed to be driven 40 minutes south, so we left early enough to get him there and get back before Michele had to leave.  It was a hot one today, so by the time we were finished at the pool I was already done in for the day!  That heat just saps all your energy out of you.

Mark met with the golf course person today and now is set up to start this new adventure.  He will continue to put out his resume for a full time golf pro, position, but this is another step to put on his resume.

We were all very pleased to watch Jimmy Walker win the US Open yesterday.  Thought sure there was going to be a play off.

SHIRLEY, I am a thinking Hal's suggestion to go park at the dealership until you get satisfaction from them is what it is going to take.  That is just ridiculous that they have not been fair with you over this issue.

JOAN, I can not help but to feel sad that you no longer have any family near.  I know it would be a BIG issue to make a move to be near them in Alabama, but your family sure could help you. I hope you will be open minded and make sure that it would not be possible to entertain this idea.😍  So happy you will see your boy soon and be able to hear all about his camp.

MARYANN, happy to read that you will be going to Indy to spend time with the family there. Nice that you will be able to,rest up the day after you arrive while the cousin is at work.

LARRY, glad to read that you all did get to,enjoy your time together at TX Roadhouse and that Scott was able to help out with the printer problem.  I do not know if you saw the answer that Mark has one more level left to accomplish at the PGA.  I know I typed this before but it might have been the post I lost.  He has done the first two levels so,much quicker than the average ones...he is very pleased with his accomplishments.

I am off to make us a quick salad.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Bis, it makes me sad to think of you being alone in Fl. now, but I certainly understand your not wanting to make another move. I will never move again if I have that choice. It takes a great deal out of one for sure, and I no longer have anything to rejuvenate with. If Gary and Dori should move, I would encourage them, even though I would miss them, but I cannot ask for better than what I have right here. If the time comes dear that you need more help, there are several organizations where you can hire a "live in" that would care for your needs. I'm sure your dear Joe would see that you had the proper and safe assistance. We are blessed to have such caring and loving children. And I'm glad you do not have to be in charge of cooking for your guests…..you can just enjoy their dear selves while they are there.

Hal, I can understand your being worn out. You are much younger that this old lady, but age doesn't always count. My daughter died at age 13…unbelievable in this day and age…we have learned a lot since the 1960's, but when the body tells us we are tired, then we are tired, so we rest as much as needed, and we are thankful for what we are still able to do. So sit down, stroke your good dog, and relax.

Mary Ann, any traveling I do, someone takes me there. We have the nicest young man that works for Rowntree that is paid for taking us to doctors appts., or other places, for a fee, but he is a joy. And even a short trip wears me out.Just the busyness of preparation, the speed of the traffic, etc. leaves me very tired. I'm happy for you that you are still enjoying it.

Janie, you should not find it necessary to care for Frankie or anyone else for that matter. You deserve more that being used for a motel. my dear. There is a word that we as the older generation need to use when necessary. It is NO. You, your doggies, and your job are more that enough for you to take care of. The company comes, they enjoy your hospitality and going out to visit people and places, but you are the one they count on for sleeping and eating quarters and you are left with the dirty laundry. NO !
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Well, this old day is coming to a rapid end and I am ready for bed.  My middle daughter just got here to spend the night and then on to Houston in the morning to pickup her daughter who just got in from France.  My wife is going to drive down with her and all are coming back tomorrow.

My old pup threw up her supper tonight just as we were sitting down to our supper.  I cleaned it up, fortunately she was considerate enough to do the deed where I could sit in my recliner and scoop it up and place it all in a plastic sack to take out to the garbage can.  No way can I get down on my knees and do that sort of thing.  Guess I could have bent at the waist and got it.  The patch the dr gave me has got the pain under control.

I thought the PT clinic would call today but they didn't.  Maybe tomorrow.

Nite all, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Good Tuesday morning, Everyfriend.   There's omelets to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a great day!!

CHUCKLES

Breaking a Habit

Two elderly women were fussing about their husbands over tea one day.

"I do wish my Leroy would stop biting his nails. That makes me terribly nervous!" the first one said.

"Oh, my Elmer used to do the same thing," the other woman commented. "But I broke him of that habit real quick."

"What did you do?"

"I hid his teeth!"

Food For Thought

Identifying with Non-Christians
(Author Unknown)

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NIV) says:

"Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings."

What did Paul say was his motive for identifying with non-Christians? How can you identify with non-Christians without compromising a godly lifestyle?

In the last century a missionary to the West Indies was employed to reach out to slaves in a particular area. The slaves had to work long, hard hours every day, and at night they were too tired to listen to the missionary's preaching. He tried every possible means to share the good news about Christ, but they just did not respond. Finally he decided to take a drastic step. He sold himself as a slave to one of the plantation owners. He then was driven with the others to work and had occasional opportunities to share the Gospel with them. Although he lost his freedom, he found tremendous freedom and joy through his newfound means of winning the slaves-and he led many to Christ.

What price are you willing to pay to see your non-Christian friends come to Christ? In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul is talking about finding areas you have in common with your non-Christian friends-identifying with the hurts and joys in their lives. He is not talking about joining in their sin. Identification does not mean participation in ungodly actions. Who is a friend whom you can reach out to and identify with today?

Good morning everyone, it is lightly raining now, would be nice to see it for the whole day or 2 but just heard it started an hour ago and will be over by noon. Every bit helps.

JOAN  I think when I had changed everything to Google I messed up IE.  Was so fed up yesterday I spent most of the day outside. Felt good to do that. Will look into it later. So much for companies outsourcing so many jobs. Yes it would have cost me $50 to talk to an American Dell tech. I am getting to old to take much more of this mess up. At this rate I just might get rid of the computer and go back to reading again.

MARY ANN  it is getting so that every time I go away from home for a few hours I am worn out when I get home.

SANDY  I always ask those I talk to to speak slower and repeat often while I scribble notes on what they are saying. The tech HP sent here to use the disks to brig this lemon back to original had only been at it 7 years and told me he knows all about computers. His 4th career at age 42. Last Friday when my grandson was here I asked him if he knew everything about computers yet. He has been working with computers for 20 years, that was his major in college. He looked at me with a grin and told me he is still learning new things and will never know it all. That tech left y tower on the floor and some things unplugged. He gave me his name and phone number so I called him. That was on Friday. He said he would try to get here on Monday. I told him he could not leave it like that all week end. OK he said he would be here late. He lives on Cape Cod and left the cape in the middle of rush hour. I did not feel bad for him at all. If the techs they have here and send out are no better than that I bet the ones in India know even less.

SHIRLEY  if I had the money I would get a different PC right now. I know this is not life threatening like that RV is but most times now I feel like the computer is my life. I spend more time here than any other place these days.  I “talk” more with my cyber family than my real one. I'll take cold weather over this heat and humidity any time.

GLORIA de  now I had not seen about the whales in the Sound. Some people just do understand about not getting close to them.  That could be very dangerous to the people and the whales both.

JUNE  I don't have mush room in my kitchen to make a big meal and I cannot do it anymore anyway.

JOAN  my son was telling me last week that now that my great grandson is walking he would be up to my waist and he is only 1.

HAL  any doctor visit is tiresome. I have bee asking around about the local doctors we have here now, Ar one time there were only 3 doctors here but now that has more than doubled. The ride to the one I have now is half hour ride and just the ride gets to me.

AMY  got confused at first,
thought you were in S. Carolina.

JANE  why is is when we do find a doctor we really like they move or retire too fast. That has happened to me a couple of times.

JENNY  good luck to Mark getting that full time job.

HAL  glad that patch is helping with your back pain.  So far I have had nothing to help me.

JOAN  an omelet will be wonderful this morning. Chuckles-wish my DIL and grson would stop biting their nails. Son told DIL he would nit buy her an engagement ring till she stopped doing that. She stopped and let them grow. Once married she went back to it again. Thank you for today's goodies.
