Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Another J reporting in after a very good night's sleep.  It puts everything in perspective.  The harrowing drive is in the past and if I want to go to my sister's again, I know the back way past the construction.  My BIL said that "the mysterious they" are saying that it will be closed through September.

Beverly, at least when the A/C quit in my car, I was able to cool it the old fashioned way....by rolling the windows down.  The temp was only in the mid 70s when I was travelling.  I hope you get yours fixed today.

I'll have to be off and getting ready for work pretty soon.  I'm on at 9 this morning.  I wish you all a great day, filled with everything you wish for.

Vanilla-Jackie--That's a good reason the other workman isn't there.:)

Good morning, Janie.  Too bad you had such a harrowing drive because of road closure.  Hope Beverly go some sleep with no a/c in the house.  I would have gone to a motel/hotel.

My flag is ready to be put outside as soon as David gets up.  I would put it up myself except I have shrunk so much I can't reach the bracket.   :(

I have some errands I want to do today and even though it is cloudy with the slight chance of rain I must be out and about.  After reading about a couple of you having AC problems and seeing that my next door neighbor had to replace their house unit a few days ago, I am keeping my fingers crossed that my house and my car AC is in good order.

Make it a good (or, at least, a better) day, Everyone.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another very hot day here in South Carolina.  This is going to be a busy day for us.  I have a doctor's appointment with my cardiologist at 10 am.  Then are good friends from our previous church are in the area at their son's home.  They are coming over to visit us later this morning and we will go out to eat.  We are looking forward to their visit.  We had lunch with them a couple of months ago but they did not come to the house as they will this morning.

I just read this very nice piece this morning and want to share it with you all:

Whose Hands

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth $19 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a championship winning.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will
produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams,
your families and your relationships in God's hands because...

It depends whose hands it's in.

Happy Birthday Jeanne Lee.

Gloria, happy for you that you have Windows 7 back on your computer.  However, you shouldn't be getting those blue screens.  Perhaps your CNA can help you use the repair tool in setup to fix any bad files in Windows that may be causing the problem.  I have used this tool several times and it doesn't destroy your existing programs or files. You just have to be careful to select the command in the process that repairs only the files and doesns't do a total new install.

Joan, I doubt that Firehouse Subs would make any sub we wouldn't like.  Had we been eating in I would have inquired about what we had since I had had the Italian sub, which is what I wanted on a hot day, several times and this wasn't it.

Jenny, It seems this hour after hour media coverage of the terrible terror attack only plays into the hands of the terrorists as it help makes the American people more afraid.

June, thanks for posting that piece about martial law.  All that power in the hands of one person isn't comforting, at least to me.  Glad your doctor's appointment was accomplished so quickly.

Don, COSTCO here is replacing all of their American Express cards on June 1st with a VISA card.  We have a gas station here that offers a three cent discount if you pay cash rather than use the credit card.

Amy, as far as I know cream puffs are calorie free.  :)  At least I tell myself that is the case when I find some.  I think Joan is right about food at a pot luck.

Folks, I have now heard from two folks, Shirley N in Florida and Jenny that my email has been hacked.  I don't often email anyone on these boards and if I do I endeavor to make the subject such that it is obvious it is from me.  However, if you have any doubts just delete it.  Our email address can be picked up by a hacker from anyone's computer that has that person's email address in their address book.  Thanks for letting me know and I expect many of you may get a similar email.

Beverly, sure hope you got your new A/C yesterday and had a cool night.

Joan, I had to share that humor for today with some friends.  It is a good one.  I didn't see the punch line coming.

Mary Ann

Happy Birthday, Jeanne Lee, may you have many more.

We are having a gentle rain right now; it is much needed.  I am to go to lunch at Red Lobster with my retiree friends today and I don't care if it rains or not.  Tom will take me and eat there too, just not with my friends.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Good morning, Phyllis.  Hopefully it won't rain while you're out.  Several on my street have had to replace their central a/c unit.  Like you, I am holding my breath that mine holds out through this HOT weather.

Larry--Good morning.  How nice that your friends from your previous church are coming for a visit.  Enjoy the visit and the lunch out.  Thanks for "Whose Hands".  Always glad to hear that SS participants share some of the things I post.

Good morning, Mary Ann. We need some of that rain you're having.  Enjoy your lunch at Red Lobster with your retiree friends.

Good Morning Everyone!

And Happy Birthday Jeanne Lee.  I hope you got everything you wished for.

Nothing much on tap here.  Larry, remember to change you password on your email and that should take care of your problem.  I think all of us have been hacked at one time or another.  Most of the time by someone who loves to send junk mail via your/my email. (spam).

Good morning, halkel.  Those hackers should find a paying job.

How we will be remembered when we are gone was very good.  Also, like it when anyone mentions just plain "Common Sense".  Everyone has different opinions and some are not thoughtful of "unintended consequences".  So - I mentioned that to one of our powerful state government employees (they work for us but don't know it).

Sorrowful news is on the air too often.   When the children griped about going to church, I told them we go to give thanks for what we have.  I think they understand now.

Vanilla-Jackie

In around 1 hour 15 minutes we are off to my monthly MS meet-ups, this month is their annual AGM meeting, be interesting to hear what is going on....I know they recently lost one of their female committee members, a lady I never got to meet sadly...We will still all stop for a cuppa and something to eat at the end...The meeting will take place between 7 and 9.15 pm...

Jeanne Lee.  I seems like you just had a birthday. Where do these years go?HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Good Morning from Stanton, Ca. Have had a nice breakfast of Cream of wheat and fresh apple and on my second cup of coffee. You all sound well and cheerful this morning and I want to join in wishing our dear Jean Lee a very, very Happy Birthday.

Happy, Happy Birthday dear Jean. :birthdaygift: :birthdaygift: You have been a gift to all of us down through the years.

The President was speaking...I had to turn him off.

Our high for the day will be 76, and overcast this morning, then sunshine later. That's just fine with me. I have just two programs to attend today.Creative writing and Balance and Mobility, both in early to mid afternoon. Hopefully I will get some snail mail answered.

Larry, thank you for the piece you posted this morning, it was a good addition to things our Bis gives us.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning-well it is here for a few more minutes. I kept thinking I had my appointment today and it is next week. Am I messed up or what? Well I woke early but went back to bed and fell asleep again for 4 more hours.  That is what happened to me for installing W-10. No more will I do that. Now at lunch time I will have my breakfast.

JANE  sorry you missed that sign. That was enough to wear anyone out.

JUNE  after the stressful week end I think I just about slept the clock around last night.

DONKLAN  the download of 10 started at 11pm and was finished just before midnight. I thought it would take all night, that is why I picked that time to download it. Nothing seemed normal to me in it.

BEVERLY   I am just glad I have 7 back. Will not try 10 again even if they paid me to try it.

JOAN  I even forgot today was Flag Day. I love the graphic you posted. Oh boy and I can have a lemon DD after my oatmeal. Now that does make me wake up.

HAPPY DAY  OLD GLORY. Long may YOU wave.

Cute chuckle today. I just copied Common Sense. That is too true these days. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  it was windy here yesterday again. Have no idea what it is like outside except the sun is shining again.

LARRY  I have been getting that blue screen since the tower came back from HP. It says the OS is corrupted and to reinstall it. How when I don't have the disk. I have called HP several times and they never give me any help. My grandson told me yesterday he will try getting here this week to check it out. I stopped sending email to a couple of friends who would not use BCC when they would forward something. At times I would get an email from someone they sent to who would click reply all and there would be a long list of people I never heard of. Always just deleted that.

HAL  I am starting to run out of ideas for passwords.

Carol--I've met a few people who didn't have a "lick" of Common Sense.

Vanilla-Jackie--I'm sure you'll meet new folks at your meeting.

JeanneP--The older I get, the faster the years seem to go by.

June--Enjoy your afternoon activities.  I hear the couch calling me.:)

Gloria--At least you realized your appointment was next week and not today BEFORE you got there.  I thought a lemon DD would perk you up.:)  Seems you've had so much trouble with that PC, and it's practically new.

I'm home and this morning went faster than usual.  My feet didn't hurt and I suppose that was part of it.

I have to make a quick run to the bank...well, I'm not going to actually RUN there.  I'm going to drive.  Then when I get back, I'm going to check out the sofa.  I think I lost a few zzzz's down in the cushions and I'm going to try to find them.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon...or in Jackie's case, the evening.

Good afternoon, another lovely day, windy, but not like the last few days.  Suppose to get to mid 70's

Gloria, as I wrote last week, I got all dressed and my friend came to pick me up, I decieded to check my appointment card, it said 6/10, but I had written down on the calander 6/6  I felt so bad, as Cathy was already here. At least we did not get to the office. As for pass words, I just changed mine to my old address, I had 92 years ago

Joan, I hope Gloria left me 1 lemon DD

JeanneLee, HAPPY bIRTHDAY, and I also 2nd. what June said thanks for helping us.

Amy your gazebo, sound like it will be so nice.

Don, I have always used the Walmart card.

Phyllis, I also cannot reach to put up my flag, I have to have my friends do it.  I leave it up alnight, with the light on it.

MaryAnn, I wish there was a Red Lobster near here. I also wish we had a Long John Silver, when we spent the winter in Charleston, that was generally out Friday dinner,  I like there hush poppies.

Jackie a many post back you said I would get a red line under my mispelled, but I never do. I know I have a lot of missed spelled words.

Janie--GREAT your feet didn't hurt at work.  I already checked out the couch and found a few zzzz's.

Linedancer--I wish we'd get a big breeze.  It is so hot and humid here--not a day for folks like me with breathing problems to go out.  We never run out of DDs, so take all you want.

Joan, good morning/afternoon to you! We are about four hours from the east coast. So when you have 3:55pm, we have 11:55am.

phyllis

I got all my errands done and the chance of rain turned into another beautiful day.  But, I'm worn out!  I did a whole lot more walking than I'm used to and I don't handle that very well, anymore.  I stopped at the big mall to buy some greeting cards.  They are having a sale (40% off) because the store is leaving the mall.  I was shocked at how many empty stores are in this huge mall now.  It seems such a shame and I wonder what will happen to the mall when even more stores leave.  It is dying, like so many others across the country.

And, of course, we couldn't pass by the new French Bakery that has opened so picked up some baklava and some cannoli's for a special treat for us.  (I know....both of those are not French pastries but they had them in the case, they looked good, so I bought them!   ::) )  I have put them out of sight so I won't nibble on them before dinner.  Picked up a couple of books on hold at the library and stopped at the drug store on the way home.  That is much more activity all in one day than I am used to.  I suspect it will be an early night for me.

I hope the day has gone, and is going well for all of you.

I took the leap of faith and upgraded to windows 10. I started it at ten last night and it finished at three this afternoon.  Unfortunately I cannot now use the recording programme which is vital to my show prep. So I'll uninstall it and hope it works.

Happy Flag Day and Happy 241ST Birthday to the United States Army!

JOAN, thank you for the goodies....loved "common sense!  What a shame more people do not have more of this!

JACKIE I hope you are enjoying your MS meeting.  Glad the painter arrived today and got some of the painting done. Thank you for sharing all the fun things you have shared recently....just wanted you to know that I did not miss seeing them.  Nice to have the quick chart for telling local times.

LARRY, I think you missed my post to you last night regarding your Face Book account possibly being hacked?  I do hope your cardo appointment went well for you.  Love "Whose Hands".  Thank you for sharing.  Enjoy your luncheon.

AMY, your new gazebo sounds nice...hope you enjoy it very much.

Oh NO, DON!  Sorry the new system will not work for your program set up....hope it uninstalled easily and quickly.

JUNE, I agree with you regarding turning off the TV!  I hope your day has been a nice one for you.  Was this the day you had to go out to see your doctor?

Break time is over....better get a move on before I fall asleep!

Our nice rain ended before we left for the Red Lobster and now, in the afternoon, we have sunshine.  It really is a lovely afternoon.

There were five of us at lunch.  I ordered Fish and Chips, ate half of the fish and brought the other half home for my supper.  Tom will not be home for supper.

When you uninstall Windows 10 and go back to Windows 7, you might want to be sure that MS doesn't install W-10 again automatically.  There is a place where you can choose how your updates are installed and I chose to choose them myself, rather than have it automatic.

Joanie, there were quite a lot of zzzzs on my sofa, too.  I made good use of them but I left a few for another time.

I hope everyone's day is going well!  I need to be off and feed the doggies.  Mickie is telling me it's time.

Phyllis--No wonder you're tired--you made many stops.  Several big malls around here have gone under, too.  Oh, how I  LOVE cannoli's.

Radioman--Hope you get your computer fixed the way you need it.

Jenny--Yes, it's a shame more don't have common sense.

Mary Ann--It's nice when you have enough leftovers when you go out to lunch to take home for supper.

Janie--Seems my sofa always has zzz's--they accumulate sort of like dust bunnies.:)
