June, I did call them back and they were just finishing up.  Turns out it wasn't as expensive as I thought and they sent a guy out to pick me up and take me in there to get the car.  The A/C still isn't fixed but I was able to use the "natural" A/C and I made it to the dentist about 15 minutes early.  Now I'm off to the Amish grocery store to replenish some of my staples.

Patricia, I like the fact that you will have space inside for you greenhouse. It would be essential for winters weather. My apartment does not have an inch of spare space, but I can live with that.

Jackie, I am happy for your ability to walk with R., and his willingness to do so. Walking off and leaving you was not kind at all. You must have been terrified. I have had moments of fear of falling when I decided I did not need my cart, and that type of fear is paralyzing. R. must have recognized that and came to your rescue.

Janie, Good News for you. Hopefully your weather will remain cool enough to use the natural outside air. What have your highs ever reached ?
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June, Joanie, I hope the a/c last until fall or wintertime.  I don't want any repairman having to go into my hot attic to do any work.

Jackie, the guy that delivered your yard furniture is just plain lazy.  And should be reported.  No reason he couldn't have done his job.  If I had been R I am afraid I wouldn't have lifted a finger.  You paid for the service he didn't provide.  But then that is me.

JoanFL

angelface--I do live alone.  Most houses in this gated community are about the size of mine.

Vanilla-Jackie--At least the office chair delivery went well.

Callie--I LOVE potato salad.  Thanks for putting some in the hidey hole.

June--Enjoy the movie today.

Janie--So you have to take the car back to get the a/c fixed?

halkel--I wouldn't want anyone to go in my attic to work in this heat either.  A couple weeks ago the cable TV repairman told me it gets up to 130° up there.

Halkel, in all fairness the delivery was free, but that doesn't excuse idle driver man...I am sure he heard me yelling out to R'...." is that where he's left it, call him back..." he must have been in earshot as I repeated it several times but as usual R said nothing and struggled by himself to do it, ignoring what I was saying....

Joan, I believe it was June asking about your house size, or perhaps Jeanne?

June, this apartment has five rooms, two good sized hallways, and three good sized walk in closets, as well as a 4'X5' balcony and I have been ridding myself of so much"stuff" since I moved here in 12/13.

JaneS

Joanie, I'll have to take it back to get the A/C repaired.  However, nowhere I go is very far and even when I had it, it wasn't very cool before I got there.

June, all this week and into the weekend, it's supposed to be in the high 89s to mid 90s but as I said, I don't travel very far so I probably won't even miss it.  It's has to be inspected sometime before the end of July so I'll see what happens.  We've had some summer days in the triple digits in the past but not a lot of them.

angelface--It was JeanneP asking about the size of my house.  Sorry.

Janie--Sorry you have to take your car back to get the a/c fixed.  The a/c in my car is wonderful--climate control, and it's cool/warm about 5 min. after turning on the ignition.

Good afternoon, I am still enjoying our weather.  I do not like the temps. I see outwest.

Larry, when Jess gests out of ICU, and can travel, he will go to Pennsacola Spine rehab center.  He is now in Ft. Walton Bch. Hosp.

Callie thanks, I like homemade potato salad.

Janie, glad to see you have wheels again.

Had a dentest appointment to day he said come back in 6 mos. I keerp telling him, I want to go before my teeth, so he had better take good care of them.

Gloria de...I do not like our temps our here either. Today was miserable for all of us here at Rowntree. Our conditioners were overloaded so we suffered with off and on again heat all afternoon. Thanks be to God it is cooling down and AC is working nicely. The weather has left me drained and I feel sort of tired, so will go to an early bed. Love and prayers to all. June

Joanie, not much of anything is more than 5 minutes from where I live.  The A/C in this car worked about like yours for a lot of years but this car is 16 years old and I thought when I bought it that it would be the last car I'd ever need.  I still hope it holds out.  I really like it most of the time.

Good Night Everyfriend.  I wish you a peaceful rest and bright awakening.  God Bless Us Every One.

Baptism

Recently my 7-year-old son was baptized at nearby Lake Tahoe. With tears streaming down my face, I watched as he came out of the water, then excitedly asked if he felt any different.

"Yeah, Mom, I do," he replied. "Now I have water up my nose!"

Food For Thought

BEATITUDES FOR THE HOME
(Author Unknown)

BLESSED are the husband and wife who continue to be affectionate and considerate, long after the wedding bells have ceased ringing.

BLESSED are the husband and wife who are as polite and courteous to one another as they are to their friends.

BLESSED are they who have a sense of humor, for this attribute will be a handy shock absorber.

BLESSED are they who love their mates more than any other person in the world and who joyfully fulfill their marriage vows of lifetime of fidelity and mutual helpfulness to one another.

BLESSED are they who attain parenthood, for children are a heritage of the Lord.

BLESSED are they who remember to thank God for their food before they partake of it, and who set apart some time each day for the reading of the Bible and for prayer.

BLESSED are those mates who never speak loudly to one another and who make their home a place where "seldom is heard a discouraging word".

BLESSED are the husband and wife who faithfully attend the worship service of the church and who work together in the church for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom.

BLESSED are the husband and wife who humbly dedicate their lives and their home to Christ and who practice the teachings of Christ in the home by being unselfish, loyal, and loving.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Joanie, do you think there is a husband and wife in existence who have attained the living of those Beatitudes?  It's ideal but not very common.

We were awakened at about 4:15 this morning by thunder.  Mickie hides on the floor in a corner and Annie plasters herself to me.  I suddenly remember that I hadn't covered the porch furniture or closed the windows on the car.  So guess what?  I got wet.  We all went back to bed but we didn't sleep.  Gonna be a looooong day!  It did, however, cool the temperature down a bit.  Right now it's 68 and only going to 82 today.  Not so bad!

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone..

Robins are singing, wish they would whisper at this hour! We had two rains last night both a heavy down pour and not lasting very long...but any amount is welcomed.

We got all that needed to be done yesterday and high tailed it home...gosh it was hot in the city! Hmm think there is a song in that.

Jackie,I waned that cookstove so bad that I think I would have brought it in myself!! I love the heat and enjoy cooking off one.

Did we lose Lloyd, haven't seen him in a bit.

Janie, glad you got your car back, not nice being without wheels. I take mine in on Thur to see about the a/c. Hope it too is an easy fix.

Joan, thank you for the DD's ,I am hunfry this morning so I will take a raspberry and a lemon one. Wish Gloria was here she would love the lemon ones too!

Enjoy your day everyone...stay cool!

Good morning, Janie.  No.  I don't think there is a husband and wife who have lived those. Sorry about the sweet doggies waking you do early when it stormed, but at least it cooled things down a bit.

Amy--Good morning.  I was thinking about Lloyd, too.  I hope he is OK.  Hopefully we will see Gloria back soon.

Good Morning Everyone!

Amy, Lloyd may still be busy haying. It can be a long, tiresome, dirty chore.

Got the yard man coming sometime today and a plumber coming this afternoon, my backyard seems to have a growing problem.  It has decided it wants to grow more than the front.  Guess the front needs something.

You all talking of your rain, wish we cold get a good shower or two.  But getting into our part of the year when the highs take over and all it does is stay hot and dry.  But I am not going t gripe (too much) we have had a nice spring and we will have only a few months of summer time heat, September things will start to cool and maybe some good rains.

Hope all of you have a good day.

phyllis

Good morning.  I miss Gloria, Sun, Kelly, and Lloyd, too.  I hope they are well and will be back with us soon.

David and I have been pre-occupied with a persistent and annoying problem with 2 out of the 3 bathrooms.  Heard a leaking sound but couldn't track it down because it was not steady...just random.  Finally isolated it and, hopefully, fixed it.  At least, I haven't heard it since we did the fix.  Jane, I'm sorry about your car problems but I respectfully ask that you don't send them on to me.  I have had enough problems for awhile!   :banghead:  ;)

deAngel....I hope your Jesse will progress with his therapy very quickly.  I know it has been a worrisome thing for you and all of your family.

Cloudy here today but supposed to be hot again and humid.  I'm staying home.  :hot:

Ok Phyllis, I'll keep my car problems if all of you keep your central A/C problems.  I sure don't want that one.

I'm hoping that by the time I get home from work, all those zzzzs that I lost in my bed last night will have found their way to the couch in the living room.  I'm sure planning on soaking up a few (or a lot) of them this afternoon.

I'm off to Wally World.  Make it a good day, Everyfriend!

Good morning, halkel.  I, too, wish we'd get some rain.  The few showers we've had haven't lasted more than 15 min.  Here things don't cool down until late October or early November.

Phyllis--Good morning.  Sure glad you and David found the plumbing problem.  That saved you $$$ not having to call a plumber.

Janie--I'd be willing to bet all those lost ZZZs will be in your couch waiting for you when you get home from work.:)

Good Morning Everyone,  from the
not too hot (yet),  rocky coast of Maine.

I say "yet" because as I look
around on my weather channel,  I
see that much of the USA has now
entered the "Steamy Zone",  while
here in Portland Maine,  I just turn on
my AC a couple a times a day for
a few minutes to dry out the inside air.
So far it looks like we are going to be
good until after the fourth of July..

I am off to take a shower and may
go for a bit of a walk later.

Have a good day, Everyone!

Hi everyone on a bright, sunny Tuesday morning.  We are headed back to very hot weather as this afternoon we will get to 95 degrees.  I got a lot accomplished yesterday morning while it was still reasonably cool.  I did get the oil changed, then went to the Credit Union to cash some checks, got my call filled with gas and got my medical tests scheduled for mid-July.  When I got home I had a call from the chair lift company saying they had also decided we had a lemon and so will be here this morning to replace the operating parts of the chair.  Hopefully this will fix the problem and we won't have a re-occurrence of the problem. That is pretty much going to be it for today as just plan to stay inside where it is cool.

Joan, my wife would like the housekeeper to be in an out in 90 minutes but the lady we have now does the job in about 3 hours and stays busy the full time.

Hal, not good news on your A/C.  The Government has control of about every phase of our lives.  Don't you wonder how the country ever got along before all of this control when we actually had to think for ourselves.  It seems that almost all mandated changes result in higher costs for the public.  I thought the head rules person had made the call on Johnson's putt.  It must be in the rules that such calls can later be reviewed and changed.  However, that doesn't seem fair to the players.  I was just glad losing the stroke wasn't a deciding factor in the outcome.

June, thanks for the clarification on the volunteer work.  I am sure many of the folks enjoy doing some volunteer work just as you indicate you do.

Jackie, good that you were up to a little longer walk and that you enjoyed it even if it left you very tired at the end.  I do pretty well on flat surfaces but inclines and hills are difficult.

Patricia, it sounds like you have a very nice sized apartment with some ample storage with three walk-in closets.

JaneS, do you not intend to have the A/C fixed in your car?  Glad you have your car back.

JoanFL

Good morning, Sandy.  Your part of the country requires different usage of heat/ac for sure.  Enjoy your walk.

Lloyd--Good morning.  It's good to hear from you and know you are OK.  I know you are working hard.

Good morning, Larry.  We've had a couple days with a brisk breeze, and that makes the torrid weather more tolerable.  The first six months I lived here I tried three or four housekeepers--all three just one person.  It took them about 4 hours to clean my house.  Then when I found the duo that worked for me for almost 7 years, they did it in 2 hours.   Now this new trio did it in 90 min.

Hal, I know all about that chore as I did it for 25 years!! I loved cutting raking and if the baler behaved I also liked that too. When I was done with the baler I would put it under cover and head back out to help bring the hay in. In between times I would get the meal ready and milk the cow before heading back out to help after supper.
Good to see you here Lloyd.....take it easy in that heat and drink lots of water!!

Amy, I never had the "pleasure" of hay baling.  Corn topping, bundling, and shocking the bundles and then hauling them to the barn was our thing.  Did help my Grandfather cut hay and hauling it for the live stock, one wagon load at a time.

JoanFL

halkel and Amy--I was a city girl and never had the opportunity to work in the fields.  I wish I'd been able to experience that.

Good Morning dear friends. Our weather prediction is for 84 as a high. I pray it is so. I would not want to go through another day like yesterday. It really took the spunk out of me. I even took a COLD shower.

There is some program titled Lunch with the Captain at our outdoor dining area. At 11 o'clock. I don't know who the captain is or what it is all about, but I do not feel interested at this time. I do hope to go to my Balance and Mobility class at 2:45. I still feel worn out from yesterday's heat. Not very inspired today, I'm afraid.

Time to eat some breakfast and hopefully get energized.

Good morning from the same old Interior, cloudy with a certain chance of rain.

Farrah has finally decided she's home, yesterday she walked onto my knees and bumped my hand for some petting and last night, warily moved to the end of the bed for at least a minute or two, She is affectionate, but still wary of sudden moves or unexpected noises. However, she has decided she's home and that's so much more than I or Pet Pride expected of her so it is a win-win in everyone's book!

Jane S.  My A/C on car is still not working either.  It is not low on Freon they say but the wiring. It is getting old also but I hate to part with it. A Honda Accord and even though old only has 79000 miles on it. I bought it new.  It is in the 90s out yet so waiting for it to cool down and then will take it someplace.
