Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend, on this Father’s Day  There's a breakfast buffet to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “Father’s Day” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

The Right Choice

My 16-year-old brother, Ryan, was out late with friends one night. Suddenly he realized it was Father’s Day and he had neglected to buy a card for our dad. After much searching, Ryan located an open store, but was disappointed to find only two cards left on a picked-over rack. Selecting one, he brought it home and, somewhat sheepishly, presented it to our father.
Upon opening it, Dad read this message: “You’ve been like a father to me.”
He looked at Ryan, puzzled.
“Well, Dad,” Ryan tried to explain, “it was either that or the card that said, ‘Now that I’m a father too!'”

Food For Thought

For Dad

God our Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless those fathers, who have taken upon themselves
the responsibility of parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death ... or divorce
who are parenting their children alone.
Strengthen them by your love that they may become
the loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen!

Thought of the Day

Good morning everyone.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's !! I hope you get thoroughly spoiled today..

We are off to a car show later this morning. Love seeing all the cars that I grew up with. Notice I didn't say antiques. ;D

We put the a/c on yesterday and it will be on again today, temps in the 90's  a far cry from having frost a couple of weeks ago!! We do have a choice here , either freeze or fry.

Phyliss, that is a beautiful graphic!!

Jane good morning to you..

Joan thank you for breakfast, love a buffet as one can try a little of each.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Janie.  For sure TLH will spoil her "favorite" daddy today.

Amy--Good morning.  I like to look at older cars.  It used to be that each model had distinctive features so one could easily identify them.  These days they all look alike to me.  Enjoy that car show.

Good morning, and thank you, Amy.

Joan, I have always been interested in cars and driving.  I still love to drive but I can't recognize different cars anymore, either, so I don't bother.  I might remember the color but haven't a clue as to the make.  As you said, they all look alike to me.

I must call my son later today.  He is the only father left in my immediate family and he is a good one.  He has a wonderful relationship with his two sons.

Have a good day, all of the fathers and grandfathers here.

Hi everyone.  This is one of the most beautiful summer morning anyone could desire.  It is 71 degrees, very low humidity and a light breeze with a clear sky.  Our high this afternoon will only get to 85 with it being around 80 when church is over this morning.  I am pretty certain we will be eating out after church today.  My son sent an e-card early this morning for Father's Day.  Unfortunately he will not be able to come out today due to his work schedule.
I plan on watching the golf tournament this afternoon after 3 pm.

Joan and Phyllis, that is a wonderful graphic for Father's Day.  I think I mentioned my step grandson being the father of a new baby boy.  Yesterday he posted some nice pictures and the one I liked the best was of him holding the new baby in his arms, looking down on it, while his wife looked on lovingly from her bed soon after the birth.  It brings back some wonderful memories of when our two children were born over 50 years ago.

Mary Ann, the year Pat was expecting our daughter she had been ordered to stay in bed.  We lived in Moore, Oklahoma and had over 30 days in a row of over 100 degree temperatures.  My grandmother can come to stay with us to help with our very young son.  We had no A/C and it was a miserable summer, especially for Pat and my grandmother.  I did have air conditioning where I was working at Tinker Air Force Base.  I also remember summers on the farm in Missouri.  I did not have a room of my own but slept on a daybed that was in front of a window.  It was OK with a fan blowing but the summers were brutal.  It was what it was and we all just accepted it as normal summer weather.  Believe me I am thankful for A/C.

Hal, I had similar experience with my A/C in Georgia.  My first thought was always that it was something major when it was just some little part.  I guess it is human nature to always expect the worst in situations like that.

Beverly, you are right in that I do feel the pacemaker/defibrillator has improved my quality of life.  Sure glad Chape got his pacemaker when he did.

deAngel, how old is Jesse?  I sure hope his mobility has been restored and that rehab will get him back to normal.

Phyllis, I am never out in the heat very long anymore.  It is the getting in a very hot car and waiting for it to cool down that gives me the most problem.  I am not complaining as we have it so much easier than what we have all known in your younger years.

Jackie, pets are very special to us and I feel sorry for those who have never had the opportunity to experience the love we get from our pets.  If we didn't care and love our pets so much we would not also experience the sacredness that comes when we have to say goodbye to them but they leave us with special memories.

Joan, hope you and the others living in Florida are having some of the milder weather.

Amy, it is a bit disconcerting when we think about things we have had all of our married life that now probably qualify or soon well to be considered an antique.  Certain days I feel like an antique myself but fortunately that is not everyday.  Hope you enjoy the car show.

Good morning, Larry. I don't remember reading that you had a new great grandson.  Congratulations.  The weather here today is a bit cooler and there is a breeze which makes it nice.

Good morning, Callie.

Well, I didn't get to church this morning.  I hope God will forgive me.  I did say a prayer or two and I took a short walk and enjoyed the pleasures of His nature and His weather.

I'm doing something that I detest sort of as a penance for not being able to do something that makes me happy all wee.  I'm organizing my bills for July.  UGH!!

I had thought about asking my neighbor if she'd like to go to THE FENCE for supper today.  Maybe I will anyway.  She can drive.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning, Sandy.  It's nice you're enjoying watching golf.  That's not my thing.

halkel--Good morning.

Janie--I am sure God will forgive you.  Is "The Fence" a drive-in?

I wish a very Happy Fathers Day to all our good Dads here. May your special day be filled with very happy memories. God Bless you All.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Gloria just called me to say her computer died again.  She's been on the phone with HP and they are sending her some kind of disc.

Hi June.

Good Morning Again, everyone!

Back from church and got to change my clothes, have to go back to church later to do the offering count, put on something that isn't dressy.

Janie, hopefully they will call early in the morning telling you the car is ready, just a minor problem.

Bless Gloria's heart, that computer is giving her a real pain and HP should know that to us older folks the computer is a lifeline to another world.'

My wife and I are going down to a neighborhood BBQ place for dinner later on, it shouldn't be too crowded and the food is pretty good.  They have really good Apple crumble pie, which I always enjoy.

Going to go watch some golf and get a snack.

Mary Ann

Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers here and also to those who have acted as fathers when necessary.

At 12:30 PM it is already 90 degrees here.  We are going to be with family up at Hardy Dam, north of here near Newaygo, and I think there will be eight or ten total.  I am hoping to stay away from the sun.

Dot and I went to Mr Burger where we both had pie instead of hamburgers today.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

halkel--Gloria also said that the cable was out in her area last night, so she had no computer and no TV.  Enjoy your BBQ dinner out.

Mary Ann--Gee, it's cooler here today than it is there.  That's unusual.  Enjoy your time with family at Hardy Dam.

Good morning everyone on this very cloudy Father's Day! I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday. Yesterday was bright and sunny and up to plus 84, just as they told us it would be. Today is back to clouds and every expectation of more rain. It's going to be the norm for the remainder of the month, however, we will be in the high seventies or early eighties so it will be harder on my arthritis.

We are getting all the Interior walls painted in late June and in early July, we are having all five floors newly carpeted. So it will be busy out there for awhile, but hopefully nicer when finished.

Kelly was out once before with a long absence and Sun was having both hands operated on with a brief intermission. It may very well be that neither is in shape to use  or needing a computer.

I think HP needs to send Gloria a new computer after this.

Farrah actually came out and enjoyed the opened balcony door yesterday, of course through the screen! She still uses odd whines and chirps but a good friend in Dearborn, says she is sounding like a Singapura cat, one of the smaller Asian breeds, while looking like an Abyssinian, another Asian breed.

JoanFL

angelface--Your place will be lovely after they get done with the redecorating.  I told Gloria she should ask for a new computer.  She said she did and they told her there was nothing wrong with hers.??  Farrah is getting braver and braver.

I was going to go pick strawberries tomorrow morning but with no car, that's out.  I though I wouldn't have any strawberry jam this year because this is the last week for strawberries.  However, I found a container of mashed strawberries in the freezer...just enough for one batch of jam.  So I'm saving money and time and getting jam.

Hal, it's already expensive for the car repairs.  He said the part he needed was only about $35. but that it was a two to three hour job.  I don't know if I'd rather have an expensive part that takes five minutes to install or a cheap part that takes an expensive mechanic three hours to install.  I think it might be six of one and a half dozen of another.

I hope Everyfriend's day is going well.

We are so pleased and happy for your wonderful responses to our announcement. And to clarify, that picture is not us; it's missing two components; Bubble's wheelchair and my walker :D

angelface555

Thanks, Joan, they are saying there will be times we are unable to be out and about as well as times the elevators will be down, but they will be giving us early notices and be providing treats, cakes and pies in the first floor common room along with the 24/7 coffee we already have, for those braving the stairs or staying out of their apartments for the day.

I will probably just stay in if it's a long period at times.

Janie, sorry you will be stuck so long without a car. Do you have work transportation?

Don, I thought those went in first? :)

JoanFL

Janie--Good you found those mashed strawberries.  It's expensive to own an automobile.

Radioman--I am really happy for you and Bubble.  That picture is good, but I knew there were a couple things missing.:)

angelface--I guess when renovation is taking place, one can expect a little inconvenience.

Good afternoon, again another confortable day.  We do need rain.

Thanks Joan for letting us know about Gloria's problems with that new computer.

Larry, GS is 34,  He is still in ICU, I talk to him this afternoon, and they are letting him set on the side of the bed. He still does not have complete feeling in his leg.  Congrations on that new baby.

Sandy, the 2017 open will be in Southampton, just a few miles from me.  I was to the last two they had there, but I will not make this time.

Thanks Phyllis for that nice graphic.

Coming in late in a very busy day, but I wanted to wish all the Dad's a VERY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY and trust that there was lots of love and attention coming to greet you throughout the day!  I sent an email to my son at his new Military base in Korea earlier today and sure hope he received it.

Mohamed left to visit friends in Maryland earlier today, after a few days here getting used to our USA time.  He was able to spend the afternoon in Maryland with good friends, so that was a real pleasure for him.  Yesterday he had lunch with another local friend here and caught up on news, sharing some of the plans he has for the remainder of his University school year when he returned to Egypt on July 7th.  I've spent most of the day just "RESTING."  Having the Pharaoh in the house can be very tiring! ;)  He just called a moment ago to let me know that he had arrived safely AND to ask if I would like to live in Maryland again!  I have relocated so many times in my life that I surely do NOT want to move again!
