I think I slept half the day away after I had my feet taken care of. Did wake in time for a big lunch of vegetables and salmon and conversation. Then on to see the second half of Fiddler on the Roof...too sad, but still they went forward. Then home to read the messages, finish up my primary ballot, take it downstairs, and now I am tired and ready for bed. Tomorrow I'll take my ballot downstairs. Even though it is a mail=in I have the option of taking it to our polling place downstairs. Nice.

I pray you all have a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. Hugs, Love and prayers. June

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

We had a nice morning sitting out on the deck, enjoying all the beautiful flowers...then we went to the grand's home to be with them while mama went to another doctors appointment.  A big storm came in and before we could get home the rain, thunder and lightening started. Afternoon storms here in Colorado pretty much always include HAIL!  We got in the garage as quickly as possible, but it was bad.. Have not looked, but sure hope we have no damage to the car.  The beautiful flowers are just totally ruined....beat them so badly.  I am feeling very sad.

Tomorrow is the day the bus leaves from our area to go to Black Hawk, the gambling area here.  My neighbor and I enjoy going on it, and always have a good time. We always have a nice lunch at one of the buffets.  We f course I will have to put a few sheckles in the one arm bandit!

LARRY, I am sorry for the sea age to your office window.... I just do not understand how or why anyone has to be so m an to destroy someone else's property.

it is a sombering day knowing that it has been 72 years since D Day.  Sadly, it was not even talked about that much on the National News.  They sure gave enough coverage to the passing of a draft dodger though.

On that note I had best bid you all a good night, and sleep tight.

CHUCKLES

Freshman Dance

A rather awkward freshman finally got up the nerve to ask a pretty junior for a dance at the homecoming. She gave him the once-over and said, "Sorry, I won't dance with a child."

"Please forgive me," responded the underclassman. "I didn't realize you were pregnant."

Food For Thought

The Twelve String
(By Dion Todd)

When I ran my fingers across the strings, I knew instantly that this was the most beautiful sounding thing that I had ever picked up and that I had to have one. It was a twelve string acoustic guitar, a deep red sun-burst, and it was in perfect tune. I am not much of a guitar player, but even strumming it with your fingers sounded wonderful and full. It was as pretty as the sounds that it made and it was difficult to make it sound bad, at first.

Later as it got played and went through temperature changes, it became out of tune, and what a change that was. Now when you strummed, it reminded you of cats fighting and no one could make it sound good. Everything that had previously been right with it, was now horribly wrong. After spending some painful time tuning it back up, it sounded wonderful and full once again. Anyone that has tuned a twelve string guitar knows what I am talking about. It just needed to be kept in tune to sound good.

So it is with our lives. When in tune with the Lord's plan for us, life is beautiful, full and we are a joy to be around. But after being played for a while by others, we can become flat, sharp, or a bit of both. We begin to make irritating noises that no one likes.

No matter how out of tune you are, the Lord can fix you. He can restore what is missing. He can make the bad and the sad into the great and the joyful. The way back is to get in tune with the Lord again by getting somewhere quiet and talking to Him like a friend. It is the Lord Jesus that beautifully tunes us, polishes us, and cares for us. With Him, we can become something beautiful.

Prayer: Father, lead me into all that You have in store for me. May Your perfect will be done in my life. You told us that Your sheep hear Your voice and another they will not follow. Teach me to recognize when You are speaking to me. Keep me in tune with You Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Busy day here, I am off to the city to meet up with a friend, then to a dental appointment then home to get supper ready for us and daughter in love should be here around 3-4 pm.

We had a good day at quilting yesterday but we found out one of our long time members is moving away. I did get to finish my quilt top, and now onto another one.

Tis looking like rain here and we could use some too. Garden is coming along and so are the darn weeds again. We get another load of wood today too and that will get piled all in good time.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day to the fullest. :smitten:

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had some lovely gentle rain overnight and it's still a little wet but not raining now.  It's 63 and cloudy and it's supposed to stay cloudy most of the day and then some rain again in the late afternoon.  The strawberries are ready to be picked and I'm trying to figure out when I can go get some.  They are so good when you pick them and come home and clean them and eat them!

I don't go to work until 10 today but I have to go to the post office and make a copy and then mail a form in to the government before I go.  I use to be able to make copies here but the printer that also made copies seems to have died.  I've tried everything I can think of to make it work but it just groans, shakes and gives me an error message.  The printer part died several years ago and I kept it in the back for copies.  Now it's worthless.  I guess it will go to the next tech recycling.

I hope Everyfriend has a great day full of the love of family and friends and with all the things you love to do!

Good morning, Amy.  You are one busy woman.  Enjoy your day.

Janie--Good morning.  We got lots of wind and it rained for about 15 min.  There's nothing as good as just picked strawberries.  Our strawberry season is long past for this year.  I have an old printer in the garage that won't print, but it still copies.  Too bad you don't live closer.  You could have it.  Hope all your customers are smiling today.

Good Morning everyone. sun is shining bright here, got to 93º yesterday . I went to doctor and to clinic got another cat-scan. scan first. hurried up and weight. well the blood has all gone and the brain gone back to contact to scull.
the brain is almost back to normal collar. I am allowed to drive again . no hard fast bumps, especially with for wheeler.
I am going to shop after I eat and work on moter fro skid steer. you all have a good day.

Good Morning all. I woke sometime after two A.M. and could not return to sleep, so remembered a lot of you have wakeful nights, so decided to come in and join the night owls. Today is primary voting day for us, so I plan to go down early and give them my mail-in ballot. Then on to a meeting of the Community Members Association. This afternoon I will attend the Balance and Mobility program, and after that I will go watch the shuffleboard tournament. Unless my lack of sleep catches up to me then I will cancel all the fun and games and go nap.

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the Presidential election, and said I didn't know what to do as neither candidate appeals to me. She said which one of the two do you really, really, do not want to be President, and I told her, and she said, "then vote for the other one". I think that makes sense, better than not voting at all.

Amy, do you ever take a day off and just do nothing ? We always have to cook and make beds, etc., but you are a really hard worker. In my dotage I am a real loafer.

Janie, do you get a discount when you pick the berries yourself. We kids did that one summer...picked for a farmer, and I think he gave us a nickel for each basket we picked. I ate as many as I put in the basket, and got bored with the job very early in the game.

Jenny, I wish you good luck at Blackhawk.

Lloyd, Be careful around that machinery today, that brain still needs to be protected. Your wife must say a prayer everytime you walk out the door. If you didn't have bad luck working with machinery, you wouldn't have any luck at all.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Oh, Jenny, I just read your post of yesterday and I think you and I are so alike.  I looked at the calendar and realized it was D-Day and couldn't remember a single mention of it on the news.  As for the other......isn't it strange how time dims events?  I told my son that I am an "old broad" who is cursed with a long memory.  And, I remember the person who is now being eulogized everywhere was not thought of so highly back in a time when our country was calling up our young men and he refused to go.

I thought you might get more rain than you did, Joan.  Sorry it wasn't more because your area needs it.  Light showers off and on here and heavier rains out on the coast.  The sun is trying to peek through and "they" are promising that we will have lower humidity for the next couple of days.  That will be nice.

I am in the same quandary as you, June, about the political scene.  But, in spite of it all, I still consider voting to be not only my right but, my privilege.  So when Nov. comes I will "bite my tongue", "grit my teeth" and vote for the one I hope will cause the least damage to our wonderful country.  And that is as close as I will come to discussing politics in the Soda Shoppe, Joan.  I promise. :winkie:

Good morning everyone, once again I got into an old movie last night. Flight of the Phoenix with Jimmy Stewart. A plane that crashed in a desert.  Read once that it was filmed   at the sand dunes in Yuma Arizona. Went through Yuma and saw those dunes the year  went from San Diego into Arizona. Today is my daughter's 42nd anniversary.

JACKIE  never tried Shiatsu massage. Even if I knew where it was done here I doubt I cold afford it. Then there would be a transportation problem.

MARY ANN only Toms in my life are 2 nephews. Never knew any other Toms.

JOAN  there was not my CNA to do so she suggested she do the shredding. Filled 2 bags and still more to do. I used to keep up with it but  have let it pile up. I only had to mail the form for the tag into the DMV and they mailed it to me. Just heard weather forecast. Today and tomorrow in the afternoon chance of violent thunder storms and maybe some hail. The guesser said  “Hail here and in June? Unheard of.”

JACKIE  I still have my license but nothing to drive. When oldest son got his new car he wanted me to drive it but it is a standard shift that I had not used in many years.

PHYLLIS  I had not checked the home page till you said something. Thank you.  Must have done that awhile ago as I didn't remember it. Like you I love blue.

JEANNE LEE  never thought of clicking on the weather thing to see more information. Will have to see what mine says. Nothing happens when I just tried that.

JOAN  I can breathe OK it is the walking even with my rollator I cannot walk too far before I have to sit down.

JEANNE  well that vehicle is the right color. Imagine driving a car like that now? No AC or power steering and brakes. Just look at that narrow windshield.

JANE  I never thought of clinking on that till you mentioned it and I thought the only thing it did was tell what your temperature is. Mine doesn't work either.

JEANNE LEE  can you fix my weather thing too? Please? Would be  nice to see how different it is to what the weather guessers here say.

JENNY  hope this time you bring some  winnings home with you from Black Hawk.

JOAN  a plain bagel lightly toasted with cream cheese will be so good this morning. Food for Thought is so true for those who stray. Your quote is so true.

AMY  years ago I knew this elderly lady who had a big garden that really produced a lot. It looked terrible though. She had newspapers spread all over the ground. I asked her why. She asked me - “do you see any weeds?” Not a weed to be seen, the papers kept them from coming up.

JANE  pretty soon the strawberries at the farm I like will be ready. Will have to ask my son to get some for me. They are always so good.

LLOYD  good news from the  cat scan now just take it careful and no more falls.

JUNE  I sure know who I will not vote for and like you I do not trust either one of them.

PHYLLIS  like you and others  feel, all of a sudden when someone dies he is idolized. Forget about him being a draft dodger.

Good morning, Lloyd.  Please be very careful when you're working with on your machinery.

June--Good morning.  You sure have a busy day planned.  I vote by absentee ballot--easiest way for me.

Good morning, Phyllis.  I saw a few posts on Facebook about D-Day--but nothing on the national news I watched.  It rained about another half an hour earlier this morning and weatherguessers say that's all we'll get from this TS.

Gloria--Good morning.  That's good that when your CNA is idle you can find things for her to do for you.  I never clicked on the weather thingies either. :)

Good morning, Sandy.  Nice that you have a happy day with good news.

Back from the hairdressers, I am so so happy that at last I've got this heavy weight off my head and my neck...I have gone a whole lot shorter, bob at the sides with thinned out layers, at the back, bob for height then tapered to the nape, feels so so much more comfortable........I did have terrible trouble on getting there, my walking became real bad, had to grab Rs arm- sleeve, wasn't sure I was going to make it, but at the time of coming out, one hour later, top of right leg was calmer, and I made it back to where R had parked the car...R couldn't collect me as the hairdresser was in the pedestrian walkway...

Hi everyone on a beautiful 77 degree morning headed for 90 this afternoon.  The rain is finally over with zero chance of more rain for a couple of days at least (unless the forecast changes). I have two things on my agenda for today.  First I will call the Auto Club and get someone here to help get my car started so I can take it to Advance Auto and get a new battery.  The other major thing is to line up two or three estimates on my broken glass in my front porch window.  I have already taken care of the normal morning chores like emptying the dish washer and watering the flowers.

I mentioned the delicious lemon pie Pat fixed a couple of days ago.  Last evening we were going to finish our evening meal with the last two pieces of pie so I went to the refrigerator, picked up the pie plate, over which Pat had placed the microwave cover and as I took it off the shelf the cover slipped and the pie slid out of the dish mostly on the bottom ledge of the refrigerator but a little bit on the floor.  Well I wasn't going to waste the last two pieces so I got a dish and scooped the majority of the pie into a bowl and then we set about cleaning the refrigerator and floor where the pie had spilled.  I felt silly but it was purely an accident.  I should have used two hands but had taken it out of the refrigerator the day before without incident.  It is a wonder the glass pie dish didn't break but it was fine so no real damage done.

Update on my car not starting, The tow truck company man was here and it wasn't the battery but the starter had apparently seized up.  So I will take it in to the garage to have it checked over as don't want to get stranded with it.  I am going ahead and post for today as will wait for the car to be checked.

It's sunny out there in the Interior! Don't blink or it will be gone! Farrah has been out and exploring and playing for almost seven days now...shhh...I don't want to jinx that either.

Everyone is talking about DDay. Here is a quote from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

"The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here; while it can never forget what they did here."

I think each generation had or has it's DDay.

Good Morning Everyone!

Really nice morning out.  Our neighbor boy is out back cutting away.  He is a fine young man and polite and a hard worker.  He leaves tomorrow to spend the summer with his Grandfather up in the Dallas area.

Also have the rug cleaners coming in to clean all the carpets and repair one spot in a doorway where the run has pulled out of the threshold.  Not a hard job, but I cant get up and down to do it.  But what they will charge will be like a major project.  Told my wife "any" rug repair is a 100 dollar minimum.  Some more of our golden years benefits.  Oh, well, now I know why I fussed about saving money, so I could spend it on "fun" things in my golden years.

I have to go warm my coffee up, anyone want a warm-up?

JoanFL

Good morning/afternoon Vanilla-Jackie.  I enjoyed your links--the video and meeting your new hair stylist.  Your hair looks great.

Larry--Good morning.  Oops, on the pie dish slipping out of your grip.  Hopefully the repair for your vehicle won't be too costly.

Good morning, angelface.  Farrah certainly is making progress.

halkel--Good morning.  Owning a house can sure be costly.  I'll have another cup of coffee, please.

Flood Insurance carpet man is coming Sunday of all days, with his sample book, just as well we dont have a life, such as go to family for dinner, etc etc....It is only Tuesday, we have three more working days still available, why doesn't he come on one of them?... ::)
..........................................
Well today for once R has been on the receiving end, usually it is me who has all the bad luck.....On the way back from hairdressers we stopped off at chemist to pick up both R's and my prescription drugs....only mine were there but R's weren't.....The reason it seems was that R asked for two months supply which unknown to him got turned down, so instead of him picking up one months supply of five different medication drugs, the order was cancelled by our local Doctor...If she isn't content with not putting forward my hospital bleed referral, she has to cancel R's medication....even I only picked up one months supply of BP med's, my old surgery would give me three months supply, same as with R, so he is not a happy bunny.....But he is now on his way a few hours later after we popped across the road to our surgery where receptionist told R they will now put his request through as automated, so hopefully when he now returns, they will be there ready and waiting at the chemist....The irony of it all is that R is now completely out of one or two of his med's, including his eye drops....

Edited, R just came back, got all his med's, I stand corrected it didn't include eye drops...he already had those..

June Drabek

I went back to bed, read for a while then slept for two more hours. A man is on a tall ladder, cleaning pine needles out of the guttering. They really keep this place tidy. Had a big oatmeal cookie for breakfast, yum-yum. have one more left, but one filled me up. Just poured my second cuppa' cawfee. Then I will dress and take my ballot down stairs, hoping it is not too crowded, if so, I will wait till later. I have all day.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Jackie-Vanilla--What a fiasco to get your and R's med, but as they say "All is well that ends well".  Sure is odd that the carpet person is coming on a Sunday.

June--So now you got more sleep, had your breakfast and can go turn in your ballot.

Jackie.  I really like that hair style on you. Did a good job. Will be so easy to take care of. Makes a good Avatar. My hair was always long and decided to go short 2 years ago. Now drives me crazy if touches my neck at the back so I go every 3 to 4 weeks. Would like your style but mine is to wavy and would have to use a hair dryer to get it straight.

Jeanne P, that is one of my problems, my hair is curly at the back....of course I don't bother using anything on my hair apart from shampoo and conditioner, he used a round brush and hair-dryer, I usually let my hair dry naturally..... My number one hairdresser requirement is that I get a good expert cut.....I will feel much better now the hair is out of my eyes, nothing worse that when its windy, trying to walk with your hair flapping into your eyes, especially with my illness when I walk and get dizzy and, or I cant see the ground because its too uneven...
If and when I go too short, my hair looks a lot darker...as it is now at the back of my neck at the roots....

JaneS

June, I think it was you who asked if there is a discount for picking the strawberries myself.  There is.  If I pick them, I pay $1.40 a pound and if they pick them I pay $4.25 a pound.  And if I pick them, I get to eat while I pick.  They use no chemicals on their fields and their motto is "On for the basket and two for you".  They actually encourage eating as you pick.

My day was pretty good.  I started out beside one of my favorite cashiers and I ended up beside her.  It makes the day go faster when you share it with a friend.

Had lunch, fed the puppies their snack and visited with my friends here and now I think a nap is in order.  I shall return!  (As General MacArthur promised)
