Good Night everyone.
It is time for me to hit the hay. Sweet Dreams everyone.

JaneS

A lot of my granddaughter's questions from her class were based on how Seniors react to having to change their habits as they age.  She also asked if I thought the fact that I was still working helped to keep me from feeling depressed.  I do think that but I added that we all on S&F are our own support group and that just being able to come here and talk about our day is part of what keeps us going.  She said that fits with what they discussed in class.  Part of their discussion was how to get seniors to interact with one another and with people of other ages.

She also asked how I'd feel if I thought I needed therapy and found that the the therapist was a much younger person.  I told her that if she/he were my age, he/she would probably be retired.  Most everyone is younger than I am now.  I also cited JUNE'S remarks about the helpful "young" people at her place of residence and told her that June is constantly praising them.

I'm off to bed now so I wish Everyfriend and good night and may God bless us, every one!

Joan, thinking of you this morning, and I sure hope they are looking after you, as you have been away longer than I was expecting...

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Seems we are in for a major storm, not impressed with that but nothing we can do about it except prepare for it.

Taking Golden girl back to the vet for a check up...I did let her out on her own this morning and she had a good roll!! Bet she missed that when I took her out on the leash, I sure didn't miss walking here in the cold in my night gown at night!!

Jane, I am not for change, especially in stores ,I think the owners just want us tp play hide and seek in there because they hide the products and we seek them out while getting LOTS of exercise trying to find them! I know they are trying to "better" the store but I go by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Better get a move on here , more than an hours drive to the vets.
Joan, prayers your way , please take care of yourself.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone from the icy cold, but still sunny,  rocky coast of Maine.

Tomorrow we are to get a BLIZZARD!!! Which means lots of wind and SNOW ...    Yikes!

All is well here.  I am off with Kelly this Morning to get stocked up for BLIZZARD weather..      This will come in hard, blow hard and disappear in a few days...    Such are Spring Time Blizzards!

Have a good day,  Everyone.

Hi Joanie ..  (Hope you are feeling better)

Good morning everyone, this morning even colder than the last 2, 13°. Like like tomorrow we will wake to that whit stuff falling from the sky. Latest is we could get 18 or more inches of blowing snow. I do have a grocery order being delivered today but I had ordered it before this upcoming storm was in the forecast.

JOAN  hope you are feeling better again today. You are missed by all of us. I keep hoping to see you here or at least have some news about how you are doing. Prayers and hugs for you.

SHIRLEY  now that is one I remember. The band-aids on the mirror is something to really chuckle about.

SANDY  a friend here went to the market yesterday and told us the shelves of bread were already getting bare. I expect to see many here making that market run today.

CALLIE  glad you like those new “daffy-nitions” I get some funny email at times.

JOY glad you could do that with the new “dictionary”. I sent it to the resident helper here. He puts out a monthly newsletter and I know that will find it's way in there. Sme here, getting so there is little social things going on anymore. Not like it was when I first moved here. Like you my wall clock I could not change and I forgot to ask my son to change it when he was here Saturday.  Maybe my CNA can do it today.

HAL  one of the ladies here told me yesterday she did not know about setting the clocks ahead. Don't know how she didn't know, they kept reminding us on TV and she always has hers on.

LLOYD  it is a smart man who knows when to quit those hazardous jobs. I hope you really mean it about selling that big machinery. I know you enjoy your wood shop and that will keep you going.

GLORIA de  I have been told there is a generator here that will take care of the first floor but if the elevator stops I have no way to get down there. I might be able to make it down the stairs but would not be able to walk without my rollator.

AMY  I will let the lady who sent that new dictionary to me now much further it has traveled. Will make her happy.

PATRICIA  I remember the days when you walked all over and the wonderful photos you posted.

JUNEE  hello, good seeing you this morning.

JANE  just about everyone we come in contact with away from home is younger than we are.

AMY  my favorite markte at times changes things around and have to learn all over again where things are. II really disliked that.

LLOYD  great commercials  in that link.

Yes,  Gloria.   I am sure that the Market will be crowded today with people getting stocked up.

The good news is that Spring Storms come and go very fast and are good "fertilizer"  for the plants  (and lawns) getting ready to wake up this Spring...

Hi everyone.  It is another overcast and chilly day here in South Carolina with the prospect of rain throughout the day.  So far we have had no rain.  The only thing on my schedule for today is to attend my Monday noon meeting.  We did attend Sunday School and Church yesterday.  There were a lot of vacancies perhaps due to a cold and rainy morning as well as the change to day-light savings.  Last evening I watched a couple of the "Little Big Shots" program that features little or young children.  It is hosted by Steve Harvey and is an enjoyable and nice program.  He always talks with the little ones and some of their answers are precious.

Hal, I see your church had the same experience as ours yesterday.  We had only about half as many people in Sunday School and many vacant seats in Church.

Lloyd, I don't remember you ever mentioning the rock crusher.  That sounds like some difficult work.  You are a man of many talents.  I did a lot of juicing many years ago and found carrots and apples juiced made a very pleasant drink. There are many combinations of fruits and vegetables that juice very nicely.

Amy, I don't think I could ever lift 100 pounds although used to have to carry and lift heavy hay bales.  I sure couldn't begin to do that anymore as don't have much strength left.  I find carrying in the grocery sacks to be about my limit. We have the same problem with stores moving things around.  As Lloyd says that gives the customers more opportunity to see things they might not otherwise and buy them on an impulse.

Patricia, I did have the opportunity to spend a couple of days in Juneau working as well as flying in and out of there several times.  They have an interesting airport.  I did take a tour and see the glaciers.

Good morning.

Sadly, this is not the news I would like to be posting today, regarding our Joan.  I am thankful to see there was a update to share.

Continued thoughts and prayers, JOAN.

Update from Joe.

Update on Mom (Joan Lavelle) - Mom had a rough night with her breathing last night and they tried a few things before deciding that she needed to be put on a ventilator.  She is now breathing easier on the vent and has been sedated so she can catch up on her rest.  Hopefully, this will be like the last time on the vent for her where she regained strength in a couple days and recovered nicely! Linda is still there helping take care of her.

Good morning everyone.
Joanie, prayers continue your way.  We miss your food for the soul and your daily chuckles.  Get well soon, we miss you!

Larry one of the men told me that the second service was about normal.   Said lots of the nine o'clock people were at second service.

Weather here is not cold like yours, and of course no snow.  But drizzle and forecast to get to 70.
Bug man due, c u later.

CallieOK

Not a "Merry Monday" with the report about Joan.    My prayers and good thoughts are with her.

I'm sorry to hear of Joan needing more rest. I know with a friend here, that she must guard against any cold, flu or bugs as she is on oxygen and can end up with a long hospital stay if she catches one. I'm hoping the rest does bring Joan some improvement.

It is cold here still, I wake up each morning wrapped up in the blanket like a mummy and Farrah has taken to sleeping in the high sided laundry basket. We've been having some wind that is getting in around the windows.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, It is sunny and very cold. I am not even gone to mention tomorrow, it sounds so horrible.

Oh! I am so sorry to hear about Joans health.  I join with everyone else in sending prays.                    she is needed here, with us and her family

Gloria, we still have big turn outs for everything, but this is a huge park. 580 homes. That is why it is called Glenwood Village. Sat. night they had a big turn out for the St.Pats. dinner, dance. I use to go. Now I am just the old lady on the block. My neighbors keep me her. Last night one brought stuffed pork chop. The stores were a mob scene even yesterday I am told, my neighbor did some shopping for me. Of course I had to have my coffee ice cream.

Jane, in the last few weeks I have been very involved in looking up ancestors.  I did not know how time consuming it could be, but in a good way. I never knew my Aunt Nellie was a twin. She was my grandfather sister.  She is also the one who pierced  my ears when I was only 5.  She lived in a railroad apartment in Brooklyn, I went running the length of the hall to show my mother my new gold earrings. I can still hear my mother yelling at aunt Nellie. She use a cork, alcohol  and a needle. she told me if she did it I would not have to wear glasses. i still do not wear glasses, only to read fine print.

Like everyone else that comes often to check on Joan.... that isn't the news we wanted so will "pray harder".

Jenny, if you get a chance to talk to Joe, tell him "we won't shoot the messenger" so don't be afraid to come & bring us news - any time.  Wonder if it would help if we sent cards.... maybe to her house in case she comes home before they are delivered?  Sounds like Linda is staying with her, maybe at her house, so she could deliver?  BUT I DON'T HAVE HER SNAIL MAIL ADDRESS........  What do y'all think?

Cold wind blowing again today.  Sprinkler system repair guys canceled... can't turn sprinklers on below freezing~

I think I feel a nap coming on.... got up before 5:00 am & didn't get but a few hours sleep for several nights before..... I'm pretty sure I could sleep for a week.  Hugs to all.  Shirley

Not the best about Joan, but isn't it a good thing she did finally go to thr hospital where she can get the care she needs.  I'm joining everyone else with prayers for her quick reovery.

I'm sorry to hear that Joan is back in the hospital, but I do believe that is the best place for her.  I hope she recovers soon.

Gloria de, I don't know what all was involved but I had my ears pierced about 45 years ago at one of our big department stores.  All of our former department stores have closed and we do have some at the malls, but I don't shop so don't know what is available.  I still have and wear the earrings the woman used to pierce my ears; I'm wearing them now.

I had a check on my skin cancer surgery and all is well.  I don't have to go back until September.  I feel things are going well with it.

Mary Ann

JaneS

Like everyone else, I popped in to check on Joan.  I'm also disappointed to hear that she needs to stay in the hospital.  JOAN, I'm praying very hard that God gives you exactly what you need to recover.  As everyone noted, WE MISS YOU!

Sorry I haven't been around.  This was a very busy day.  I slept in until almost 7:20 and then had to make dog food before I could feed the doggies.  I didn't even sit down to eat breakfast.  I had an appointment with my new insurance agent and the papers are all signed for coverage to begin April 1.  I'm saving almost $50.00 a month on my car insurance.

I stopped on the way home to pick up eye drops and had to leave almost immediately to go to the dentist.  I came home from there with a prescription so I stopped at WM and go that filled.  I had about 45 minutes between that and picking up Kiran from school.  They just left and now the doggies are asking for supper.  After that, I collapse!

Hope your day was a good one.  I expect to be snowed in tomorrow.  It's supposed to start here around 11 p.m. and continue until noon tomorrow.  Many businesses and the schools are already closed for the day.

Jane, goodness you tuckered me out just reading what all you have done!!

We took Golden girl to the vet and all is well, just have to keep an eye on the bit of swelling that is there. Vet felt confident that it should be alright. I know I shall miss the star gazing that I did when I took Golden girl out. How beautiful the sky was all dotted with twinkling stars and the odd time you would see a plane  off to unknown parts of the world.

Prayers for our Joanie.

Forgot to say, if anyone is interested, I have Joanie's home address.  You can email me.  I won't post it in here.

Wouldn't it be better to ask Linda or Joe if we could email them at Joan's email, so they could take those messages to her when she is not sedated?

JaneS

Okay, do whatever you want.  Someone mentioned sending cards but said she doesn't have her address.  I was just trying to help.

Good night!

Saw the news and hope you are safe from the blizzard.  So big to anyone in its path
I hope you are all safe.  I thought it was Sprng over there.

June Drabek

Joe, thank you so much for the news on your Mom. I well remember her last go-around with the ventillator and pray she has the same success as the the last time.

I am sorry to report that I took another fall on Sunday morning. I really don't know how or why, but it was a mean one. I fell over backwards and broke a small end table that I fell against. Having trouble recovering from this spill, but thank God I spilled no blood. Bruised back, painful breathing and very painful spasms that just grab me and take my breath away. Had three xrays taken...nothing broken, but plenty of pain. It just grabs hold and makes a yell come out. Pain pills help but do not cure.I refuse hospitalization, and they allow me the right, as long as I am not bleeding to death or require deep surgery, and I can refuse that. If necessary Hospice would help.

So, I am stuck at home, but this too will pass. I pray you all keep VERY well...the alternative is not fun. Hugs, Love and prayers. June

As long as we are here, let's dance.
