I have two ear piercings that I got about age 18 and I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was a baby. I generally wear studs in the upper ones and small button ones in the lower. I used to wear dangles but now they irritate as my skin is so dry.

Good Tuesday morning, Everyfriend.  There's cherry toaster strrudel to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a great day!!

Food For Thought

Persisting in Prayer
By Arthur Schoonveld
Scripture Reading: Luke 18:1-8

Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?
Luke 18:6-7
Huck Finn, the main character in one of Mark Twain’s novels, became convinced that praying was a waste of time. For three days straight he prayed for fish hooks, but no fish hooks appeared! His conclusion: “There ain’t nothing in it.”
I’m sure many of us have felt that way at times. So many of our prayers seem to go unanswered. You pray for healing, but the person you love is taken from you. You ask for a job, and nothing happens. You ask the Lord to heal a broken relationship, and still your marriage ends in divorce. You plead with the Lord to bring your son or daughter back, but it doesn’t happen. Even the well-known Christian author C. S. Lewis began to wonder if praying was a waste of time. During his wife’s illness he pleaded with God to spare her life. And when she was gone, he said, it seemed the “door to heaven” was “double-bolted”â€"but he realized later that God hadn’t shut him out.
In the parable of the persistent widow Jesus tells his disciplesâ€"and usâ€"to “always pray and not give up.” If even an unjust judge finally listens, how much more will our Father in heaven hear us! Though God does not always answer our prayers the way we want him to, he always listens and cares, and someday he will right all wrongs.
Holy Spirit, teach us how to pray, and help us to believe that our Father in heaven hears and answers every prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I gust we had bad weather close around but not at our home,
we only had a hard thunder storm here for a few minutes. got only 9 tenths " of rain. that better than none at all, but we still need more it is very dry here.
I planted out in the raised beds yesterday some few earliy plants . and went and bought more seed's.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's raining here and has been most of the night but the extreme cold is gone.  I'm not sure which one I prefer but I'll think about that.

Thanks for today's offerings, JOANIE!  I particularly liked the one about praying.  Sometimes we have to be reminded that if we don't ask he can't possibly answer.

AMY, so you're the reason I couldn't find any zzzzs around here yesterday!  I looked around for them but they had escaped.  However, some of them must have hidden in my bed because I ended up sleeping right through the night.  It felt wonderful!

I'm off to Wally World this morning so wish me smiles!

Take today and make it a good one!

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie, thank you for the offerings of the day.  Both hit the spot.  Isn't it strange how we sometimes think that the Lord never answers our prayers, when sometimes he is telling us no.

Amy enjoy your day out and the meal.  Sounds like a good day for some nice comfort food.

Well, they say we might get some rain, T-storms, a front is due to come through some time today.

Some years back my wife decided to get her ears pierced after umpteen years of going without.  Well she did, for her a big mistake, she developed kiloids and ended up with having to have an operation to have it removed.  Nasty looking things and the doctor told her they may re-occur from the removal.  They didn't.  But they did serve one purpose, my granddaughter had her eyebrows pierced and we reminded her what happened to her Grandmother.  She removed the things.

Coffee ready, Joanie, can I bring you a cup?

I've been lucky because I had my ears pierced in 1972 before my company moved our office from downtown to seven miles south of downtown.  I don't wear heavy earrings, mustly studs, but I don't think I've had any problems.  I call the original earrings my "training earrings" and still have them and probably wear them the most.

We just returned from having my hair cut, then having breakfast.  When we left at 8:30 am, the temperature was 54 degrees and at 10 am, it has gone down to 48 degrees.  The man who took my money said it is supposed to get colder today and I guess it's on its way.

Looking at Grand Haven, the lake is very choppy.  The sun was trying to shine, but has gone under a cloud now.  Gale warnings are issued for the lake.

Callie, I did see Ellen on the show & was sure I left a very long post.  I was so impressed with how poised she was, not only about getting her ears pierced but being the center of attention with such a large crowd.  Tell her that this old Kansas "Auntie" thought she did great, beautiful & bubbly.

Winds are howling again, some of the schools west of Wichita are closing schools because of wildfires. Boy, talk about adding misery to misery.... pollen over the top & now the dust & smoke in the air.  My eyes were stuck closed this morning.

Glad you didn't get the bad storms last night, Lloyd.  I did some radar watching since I still have family strung out all the way from Kansas City to St. Louis.

Have a "terrific Tuesday", everyone..... Shirley

CallieOK

Thanks, Shirley.  Her musical theater training served her well!

She was allowed to pick the earrings she would have put in - and she picked titanium.  I don't know what that is but RR seemed to be impressed.   ;)  She got to keep them and says her ears are doing fine.

Busy day today.   :dogrunning:

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

larryhanna

We have a beautiful and expect to see a temperature of about 81º this aternoon.  My main activity for today was my visit to the  podiatrist. I got my toenails trimmed and feel my feet feel a lot better.  Hopefully it won't be necessary to remove the toenails and I will go to his office every three months for the nail trimming.  When I finished there I drove down to my son's home to switch cars with him and come back home in my PT Cruiser.  He needs to put his car in the garage and my granddaughter can't drive a shift stick car so they will use our Hyundai until his car is repaired, hopefully by tomorrow evening.  Scott did make the main dish for our dinner last evening and our granddaughter made the lettuce salad to so with it.  We had a nice visit with them.

Since I am old fashioned and will never have my ears pierced I can't contribute to the discussion.  I hope this turns out to be a good day for you all and that Joan and others who may not be feeling up to par will find improvement throughout the day.

June Drabek

Larry, I never had my ears pierced either. I wanted to have it done when I was in my thirties, or thereabout. My husband negated it...said that was vanity..or some such thing. I did wear a lot of standard ear rings though. Now it is too awkward trying to put them on...only the clip-on's for me now. I also gave up make up as my years increased, so like Barbara Bush, I feel "what you see is what you get".

Our high today will be74, and sunny.

Bis, I am praying each day brings you closer to better health. Keep resting dear one.

I am due for a meeting at 10 a.m. so I had better stop gabbing and get ready to go. See Y'all later.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

Good morning, its cold and I'm still slogging through reorganizing and getting rid of stuff by passing it on to the next person. It's amazing the amounts of flotsam and jetsam we accrue moving through life

June Drabek

Back from our Community Members Assoc. meeting. We have a new President, and she presented us with a new format...very well organized and understandable.

Took a brisk walk around the gardens before coming home. I am trying to retrain myself to less dependency on the cart and get back to putting more weight on my feet as in normal walking. Carts can get you depending on arm strength rather than normal leg balance..not a good thing. I must not give up the cart...just the way I use it.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I'm home from a good morning at work.  The doggies were out and had a snack and I had a nice salad for lunch.  I'm tired but I have a couple of important phone calls to make before I can go hunting zzzs.  I sure hope Amy didn't use them all today!

Keep on keeping on!

June Drabek

Janie, I am on my way...almost...for lunch downstairs, and then probably a nap at home.  We have a class on Balance and Mobility at 2:45 that I want to attend but I'm sure I will be awake for that. Have a well-deserved rest dear friend, you are such a "gooder", I am proud of you.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Gloria

Well as usual since I knew I had to get up early I did not sleep much last night so when I got home I laid on the couch for a few hours and dozed on and off. We have showers on and off and I would rather have stayed home. Now the eye doctor on Friday. Except for the eyes this new doctor sure wants to know every thing about my body.  Never had a doctor like this before, especially the one who would walk out of the room every time he was asked a question.

LARRY  at least I have not been sent to a podiatrist yet.

JANE  when I had my ears pierced I was in my 40's and had it done with that fun in the mall. Kept washing them with alcohol to make sure they did not get infected.

JUNE  like you I used to eat a big meal and enjoyed different food. Now I am never hungry and nothing tastes good to me now. I have the collage Bunnie did of all the ones who posted in the Nest/ I printed it and put it in a frame and I can see it by just looking up a little to my right. That was a fun group.

PATRICIA  one of my grandaughters has 6 piercings in each ear.

JOAN  a cherry toaster strudel would have been good this morning. I was not allowed to eat or drink for 6 hours before the ultrasound. Love today's Chuckles. They are all good. I know just who to send this to. Thank you for sring the food for the tummy and for the soul every day even now when you are not feeling good. You are in my prayers.

LLOYD  there were a few brush fires around here yesterday. Between it being so dry we had those very strong winds. Glad you have the degree ° sign working again.

AMY  enjoy your new glasses.

JANE  one of these days I will have to ask my son to take me to Wally World. Ha  big gift card for WM and would like to see what I can get that I really need.

HAL  like your remark about when God tells us no. HE knows best.

SHIRLEY  my daughter was telling me there is a lot of pollen in the air where they are.  My SIL has a terrible runny nose and keeping the tissue company in business. She stops cooking beef and he also stays away from dairy products and it does help him. When allergies get to him she mostly keeps to chicken and fish.

JUNE  last month the association here disbanded because of lack of participation.  I know I would not dare try to walk without my rollator.

My daughter is late for Skype.

Gloria, for some years there was active participation here. Particularly with this one woman who spearheaded almost everything for thirteen years. I know I was heavily involved until January 2016. It got to the point where it wasn't even 80/20 but more like 95/5! ::)

When Edna quit after those 13 years, pretty much everyone quit just like the birthday cards here as it was under appreciated. After that, only the craft club has restarted under new members. I think everyone was waiting for that someone else to run things again.

We still have a general building council and each floor has a council but other than our long-suffering hospitality commission that is it. Perhaps if they stopped serving 24/7 coffee and baked goods as well as the monthly soup lunches and the special holiday meals, more would take notice even if only to complain.

Denver

Just stopping in to see if JOAN has posted today.  I sure hope and pray she is doing better....

LARRY, good to read that you were with Scott and Jennifer last night.

Continuing to enjoy being with this doodle dog.  He is so much fun, but then I am not the one that takes him on a three mile walk everyday!  Thank goodness Bob is able to do it.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Life is a Theater
(Author Unknown)

"Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character." - I Corinthians 15:33

Life is a Theater - Invite Your Audience Carefully....

Not everyone is healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of, or at least minimize, your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships.

Observe the relationships around you.............Pay attention!

Which ones lift and which ones lean?

Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?

Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill?

When you leave certain people do you feel better or feel worse?

Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know or appreciate you?

The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.

Good morning everyone..

The rain has finally stopped here and it did pound the snow down
Had a good time away yesterday, breakfast out, picked up my glasses then did a bit of shopping before heading back home. Managed to sew 4 rows together on a quilt and hope to finish it today so I can move on. Not much going on here today, mail a parcel fill the wood box chase dust bunnies and then play on the sewing machine.

Janie, I must admit they were fantastic zzz' too.

Hal, my sister had her ears done but I didn't think it was something I needed to do.

Gloria, I just use them for reading and they are ok...I sure won't lose them as the girl gave me a purple case for them!!

Lloyd, I bet your heart is smiling with Nancy back home again.

Joan, I hope each day makes you feel better and stronger too! Thank you for breakfast.

Good morning Everyfriend!  And a special good morning to you, Joanie!  I hope this day finds you feeling better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  That means that every day you will be feeling better.

Thank you for today's goodies.

Today is my "late" day at Wally World!  It's actually later than usual.  I don't have to go until 6 p.m. and I'll be there to see the preparation for the night shift.  I'm rather enjoying the days that I go in later.  People are still telling me they thought I'd retired because they hadn't seen me.

I have a few odd jobs planned for today but yesterday was good news day.  I received the new car insurance quote in the mail and looked it over and my son looked it over also.  We decided that I did not need the personal collision part and I called and told her that and we discussed the book value of my 17 year old volkswagen and the conclusion is that I can cover my car for about half of what I've been paying!  I sign the papers on Monday.  Now if I can get the same kind of break on my Medigap insurance later this month, I'll be a happy camper.

Better get started or I'll never get finished.  Make today a good one!

Hi everyone.  We have an overcast morning but will again get into the low 70's this afternoon.  Pat is going to attend her Gifts group this morning at Church, something she hasn't done for most of this last year.  While she is doing that I will go to coffee with the men at the cafe.  She may want to get her main meal our after she is through with the Gifts group as I will be having the evening meal with Scott and Jennifer at the Wednesday night dinner at Church.  Then Scott and Jennifer will come out to the house for a little while.  It is nice to live so close and getting to be with them at least once a week.

June, my wife doesn't have pieced ears either, not that I would object, but she just never wanted to do so.  She does wear the clip on ear rings as well.

Gloria, I will be seeing the podiatrist every three months from now on as my toes feel 100% better and hope to avoid having to remove the toe nails.  I will now be able to wear my house slippers, which I haven't been able to do comfortably for sometime.

Jenny, glad you are enjoying the doodle dog and bet he is enjoying all the attention.

Time to leave and will have to finish reading after I get home.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like it rained hard overnight. Was surprised when I pulled up the shades and see my windows all wet. I was worn out and fell asleep fast and did not hear anything.

PATRICIA   when I moved here there was more activity but now it is very quiet. On the nice warm days we had a few sat on the porch and that was great. I do get out every day for a walk but seldom see anyone else. There is still Bingo on Wednesday but from what I was told not as many go any more. Thursday night they have a card game. They still have a pot luck meal at times with everyone bringing something but I never go because I cannot cook anything or get out to buy something to bring.

JOAN  I must be one of the few that do not live where there is a Starbucks so have no idea what they have there. We sure have a lot of DD places though. I like Food for Thought, so true.  Thank you for today's goodies, I pray you are feeling a bit better today.

LLOYD  glad your Sweetheart is home and you are not alone.

AMY  with new glasses hope you will enjoy reading again-that is if you ever find time to read.

JANE  any time you can get a lower cost in something is great.

LARRY  so far I am still able to cut my toenails.
