Vanilla-Jackie--I can understand it's not exactly a good morning for you.  I hope everything gets done/fixed and the remainder of the day is good for you.

Good morning, Amy.  Glad to read thing went well yesterday and that your husband doesn't have to go back to the cardiologist for 3 months.  Those dust bunnies multiply quickly I find.:)

A cloudy day here and rain on the way....so they say.  My younger son, dil, and grandson are coming this weekend so I must give this house some attention or they will think I am no longer able to take care of myself.   ;D

I have spent far too much time on this computer lately trying to figure out some PSP lessons.  My brain is almost as slow as my body these days.  However, they eventually get to where I need to be....if I just exercise a little patience.  I'm afraid that I am not blessed with the gift of patience very often.

Hope it will be a good day for everyone.

Good morning, Phyllis.  How nice that your younger son, dil and grandson are coming to visit.  Like you, patience is not one of my virtues.

Joan, thank you and bless you.....at least Toby is looking a spruced up and respectable Cocker again, although groomer did find a tick set into-onto one of his ears...I have found the odd tick on Benji's fur, thankfully not embedded into his skin, not something we had a problem with at our old address...Oh and Toby came away wagging his tail, now that has to be a good sign, if ever I saw one...I told groomer I shan't book the next app yet, not until I get in contact with groomer he should have seen yesterday first, she understood, and was comfortable with that...on the plus side this groomer today is relative new to grooming ( still done a good job...) and says she only needs 3 weeks notice, so again, that is a plus....

No sign of plumber yet, site manager had to go out so left the key for plumber when he arrives, to let himself in....

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Jackie, hope you have notified your insurance company about the water and damage.  Maybe you will get new rugs or at least a good cleaning.

Well today, according to all reports, is suppose to be a bad weather day.  Starting this afternoon and possibly the next day.  Lots of rain, lightening, wind, you know according to weatherguessers the whole wrath of God.  Although Corpus Christi and the area around there they got about 12 inches of rain.  Now that is what I call a frog strangler.

Got to get down to get my hair cut today.   Will try to go this morning, like I have anything else to do. ;D

Joanie, how's your day going?  Good I hope.  Sent a gob of rain your direction yesterday hope a little of it gets where you want it.

DD, Hope your son does well on his trip through Mexico.  Is he headed directing to the states and then on home via our highways or is he going to be traveling
Mexico's highways.  Hope he doesn't have any problems.

Halkel, I will leave that job for R....but yes I am sure that will be on his agenda, although bathroom carpet or flooring might take a tad longer,....as if its anything like as our old address, we went with floorboards and round the edge tacks sticking out for some years before he eventually decided to get it done...

Just taken phonecall from our next door neighbour asking if we have now got our water under control, a friendly chat as I asked her how she and hubby are, she said she would have come round earlier ( when I was calling them from the back garden ) but unknown to me, her hubby, also a Richard, was spending the day in hospital.....I said anytime she wants a cup of tea, comfort or a chat to just pop in....I thought that was very kind of her to take time to phone and enquire...

I am not very impressed with window cleaner, it was R he spoke with before leaving, and R gave him his money before I walked in, and he was off....R never walked round to check on his work, but after he had gone he left water running down on several of the windows, others were leathered dry...My late father was a window cleaner, had been since he came out of the army, manys the day as a young child I would be taken to stately homes and other large well known business and watch him and his window cleaning pals doing their work....

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It looks like we will have some rain off and on today and throughout the week.  We had a nice men's meeting last evening.  I got the best steak I have had since I started attending these meetings about a year ago.  The speaker was good and has brief in his remarks but got his point across.  Later this morning I will take my PT Cruiser to have the A/C fixed.  Pat will pick me up.  We might stop at Aldi's as hate to waste this $10 off on an order of $40 or more and this is the last day for this current offer.  We are going to stock up on some items we know we will be using in the next few months. It doesn't take long to spend $40 in a grocery store anymore.  I may go early and have coffee with the guys until about time to take the car in for the scheduled appointment.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Joan, that $75 for the Clear Check sounds like a great thing for frequent flyers to avoid those long lines.  What quick grocery delivery you had a couple of days ago.

Jackie, nice you have a place you can sit in your garden and soak up some sun.  You played cards as we did growing up and also in our adult life.  Sometimes there would be a prize and sometimes everyone would contribute $1 to make up the prize.  I don't think I would enjoy playing cards if it involved much money.  We used to play Bunco with some church friends.  It is as easy a game as one could play as I remember.  So sorry to read of the flood in your home and hope no serious damage was the result.  Hope your day gets better with each passing hour.  Just remember that "this too shall pass".

Mycheal, I agree with your comments about how to live your life in focusing on the good and living each day to the fullest I am able.  When I forgave I helped myself, not the other person, as I stopped carrying the burdens of anger and hurt on my back everyday.

Gloria, we don't forget our past unless our memory fails but we do have control of how long we let our pasts waste our minutes today.

Jenny, glad you don't have to drive to the airport and then incur the expense of parking.  It looks like your sons are taking good care of you two.  I know you will be glad to see Mark safely back in the USA.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad all went well with Toby at the groomer.  A wagging tail is a good sign.:)  That was nice of your neighbor to phone you.

Good morning halkel.  They say we are supposed to get bad weather, too, but I'll believe that when I see it.  The rain you sent didn't arrive yet.

Larry--Good morning.  GREAT that everything about your meeting last night went so well.  I think that Shipt/Publix grocery order/delivery is going to work well.

Larry Hanna, yes wise words from Micheal...I am also a believer of separating oneself from stressful or negative people, and surround yourself with uplifting or positive people in your lives but....some circumstances in life can prevent this from happening.....of course in an Ideal world, that would be the perfect solution......and in the past when feeling trapped, whether it be bad choices in boyfriends or employment, I would always take the option to move on first, then worry about its consequences later..........

R has gone shopping, I am awaiting on plumber and dogfood delivery is on a time slot and soon be here, I can track its every move number by number, and see exactly where the driver is.....

Gloria

Good morning everyone, think I am ready for my geemagotchees this morning, No sunshine and still cold here for mid May. One thing I miss from where I lived is the forced hot air heat. Baseboard heat has no place to get close to the heat to warm up.

JACKIE  sorry for the mess you have to put up with.

JOAN  an omelet will be good this morning. Oh that man in chuckles needs some brains.  Food for Thought is another keeper.  The quote goes with it. Thank you for all today;s goodies.

AMY  glad your DH appointment went well. No sun showing here this morning. If I didn't know better I would say the sky looks like it will start snowing any time now. At least the wind has died down at last.

PHYLLIS  I look at the new tutorials and go looking for old ones. Way too many things in them  that turn me off. I rather have less noise in them. Enjoy your family visit  this week end.

HAL  now that is way too much rain.

LARRY  when I think of the past I like to think of the good times, the bad I sure do not want to think about.

Still got the washing machine on one end and the dryer on the go the other...Just hoovered the wooden floor and ran the hoover ( vacuum cleaner ) over the carpet....now this is what usually messes me up but, so far so good, although the day hasn't ended yet......As the well known saying goes...." it isn't over until the fat lady sings..." .... I have lost count the number of cups of teas I have drank today, and I am about to put the kettle on for another.....

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  Geemogotchees in May?  The weather sure is fickle.  Here it is hot and so humid that when I went out to get the paper I could hardly catch my breath.  I have forced hot air heat, but the registers are in the ceiling--can't get close to them to get warm unless you are a giant.:)

Vanilla-Jackie--You've accomplished quite a bit so far today.  Enjoy that tea.

Registers in the ceiling?
Wow,  Joan....

Heat rises,   so by the time it gets
down to the  floor,  I bet it has
cooled off!

In case of heat issues,   I have
a portable heater that I put
under my desk...  and that
takes the chill off,  nicely.

We are going to have nice
weather  (cool and sunny)
until June.   Which thrills me..
Mostly in the sixties,
and low humidity...
so it does feel warmer the it sounds.

Oh happy day!

Sandy

Good Morning all you dear, good people. Compared to what others could be suffering, we are Blessed to be where we are.

Lloyd, I pray you are feeling better each day that passes. Your main healing is rest and care, so please continue to do both.

Bis I do hope that you get more than just sprinkles today. Both East and West southern coasts are thirsty as can be.

Hal, if all you have to do is get a haircut, flip yourself over to Rowntree Gardens. Our menu for the day reads: 9 a,m. sit and stretch exercise in the Fireside lounge. 10 am Coffee Klach, same area. 12:30 bus trip to Rossmore. 1:30-2:30 Tablet drop in at the Library.2:45 Balance and Mobility, Fireside Lounge.6:30 p.m. Jennifer Hart, singer, Fireside lounge. I intend to go to the 10 a.m., 2:45, and 6:30 programs. I don't have a tablet but that sounds interesting just to listen to. If I am not napping I may drop in. Yesterday I stayed at home...grocery delivery day.

Time to make the bed, dress and start the day. Back later, God willing  and the computer permitting. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Sandy--Yep, registers in the vaulted ceilings.  It doesn't matter much as far as heat because we only need heat about 10 or 15 days a year.

June--The sun came out mid-morning, so it sure doesn't look like rain today.  You sure have lots of activities to choose from today.  Enjoy.

Hello from Florida.........I don't post often but I'm here every day. In SeniorNet we used to call people like me "lurkers".  :)

Joan - We had some heavy rain last night. I was hoping you might get it down your way. Our heat and A/C registers are also in the ceiling. It's the most practical thing when houses are built on a slab. Seems to work very well, but not quite like snuggling up to a wood stove back in Vermont.  But then, I would have to lower the A/C to compensate.  :)

My daughter in Vermont posted pictures on Facebook over the week-end of snow on the ground. She's raising 20 tiny laying hen chicks (my daughter, the chicken farmer  :) ) and was keeping them warm in the coop with a heat lamp.

This morning I played bocce-golf and won both games. Wish I were that good at golf!

Time to get up and move before I fall asleep in this chair. Hope you all have a good day.

JoanFL

Beverly--It's good to see you posting and not lurking.:)  Weatherguessers keep saying we're to get heavy storms--so far nothing.  Good for you winning bocce-golf.

:) Good Morning! We in the Interior are in accord with the rest of the country. Its's cool, cloudy and periods of light to medium rain. Farrah is back to being skittish and makes large moves around me if I am swearing at the computer PSP lessons or moving around a bit. She does like the cat grass I'm growing for her as it is a special type of grass  grown and used for cat's digestion.

JoanFL

angelface--Farrah apparently gets upset when you raise your voice while working on PSP.  I never heard of cat grass.  I'll have to "Google" it.

She was obviously abused, the cat society, Pet Pride, the vet and myself all agree and see the signs. It's how or rather if to proceed that most differ on. She was becoming more outgoing and then slipped back to being skittish.

A kleenex falling off the table made her dash to the room almost before seeing what it was. Before she would have seen movement and ran rather than waiting so I'm pleased with small steps. I and most especially she have a long way to go.

I mentioned before that Pet Pride offered me a new more loving cat and I know I was rather puffed with pride before when Sarah overcame her fears more quickly and easier. The vet even said a more responsive cat would be a better choice.

However, she has been abused, neglected and passed along too much in her four years that she needs a home and also a little respect just for how she is. I can't countenance just passing her on again.

phyllis

It isn't dry on this part of the East Coast, June.  Only down where Joan lives.  We've had lots of rain here and now it is raining again.  I took a break from housework because my back was hollering at me.  I was dusting and I'll take any excuse to get away from that.  I hate dusting and especially on a rainy day.
phyllis

Sandy

I suspect in time,  kitty will start to feel more comfortable...    She is not being abused now,  so that is a positive....   you might find with lots of patience,
she will respond better for longer periods of time.

One of my cats lived under the toilet in the bathroom,
for a month.   Only coming out occasionally at night.

But he eventually straightened out.   Sometimes you
just have to let them be ....and enjoy what little progress that they are making.  Like people,  cats seem to have
different personalities,  and we know how hard it is to change ones personality ...  (giggle) ...

I wish you lots of luck and patience!

Molly

I smiled while reading about the difference weather reports in the above messages.  I'd spoken to Mohamed earlier and he asked if he could PLEASE have a cold cup of iced tea, since the temperature in his area of Egypt was enormously HOT.  A couple of days ago it was about 112 degrees!  He's busy checking flights and trying to coordinate dates with his University final grades so he can schedule a brief visit to the USA - probably only a couple of weeks at most sometime in the middle of June.  The violence on the streets in Egypt continues, so many thanks to all who keep him in prayers.  Your remembering Mohamed is much appreciated!

Lots of rain here earlier this morning and getting dark again.  The Weather folks anticipate rain almost eve day this week.

JoanFL

angelface--You are to be commended to working with Farrah to socialize her.

Phyllis--FINALLY we are getting some rain.  I hope it continues all night.

Sandy--You said a mouthful--hard to change a personality.:)

Molly--I always have you, Mohamed and Chaps in my prayers.  I will add prayers that Mohamed is able to leave Egypt and travel to you safely.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

Molly

JOAN - I know I've thanked you and other Friends in these posts for keeping our family in regular Prayers, but your support in this way is so very important to us.  Chaps, particularly, as he prepares to leave his family for one year as he is stationed in Korea beginning early in June.  And Mohamed as he must face not only the enormous tension of his students as they prepare for the end-of-semester exams AND the violence in his area of Egypt, which seems to worsen daily.  Both David and Mohamed (and me, too, of course) are so deeply grateful to all the FRIENDS here for keeping our family in regular prayers.  And I am also enormously grateful to those Friends who also remember to send Prayers for me, too.  The stress of the challenges for Chaps and Mohamed sometimes REALLY is overwhelming for me.
Thankfully, I know where the Chocolate ice cream is hidden! :)

Gloria

JOAN  my sister that lived in Ca. had registers in the ceiling. Do they really warm your house up? Rather have the registers in the floor or wall. I did finally warm up today but was bundled up again.  It was another gloomy day, no rain but damp.

BEVERLY  lurkers have been mentioned here in the SS at times. Nice when one does post. I would have loved a wood stove this morning. My 3 children have wood stoves and I like being there on a cold day.

PATRICIA  at least you have something Farrah likes.

PHYLLIS  my CNA polished my furniture yesterday. She sees something that needs doing and just does it.  I was one of her first clients when she started as a housekeeper and she did not know much but I helped her learn more. She told me she does what she learned in her own home now and her family says things look much better.

JOAN  hope you get enough rain to do some good.

Good night everyone.

I attended two things out of the three, plus going down for lunch, and I am pooped !! I think I will skip tonights program. Ended up with a headache, which I have not had for a long, long time.  First program, one of our activity directors was showing large screen pictures of the various activities we have. He asked for any suggestions folks would like to have. I opened my big mouth and asked if they had considered line dancing classes, and said it was something that could be done while using a cart, and the greater percentage of our folks do need a cart. I was asked to demonstrate, so I hummed "Alley Cat"  and did the steps. With my cart of course. The activity directors, two of them, seemed to think it a good plan, and said they would like to investigate it further. So we shall see if it takes off.

The Balance and Mobility class was it's usual good exercise, but this old body is not happy with me today. Came home and just plopped down on the bed for an hour.

Beverly, I wouldn't consider you a Lurker. I have always enjoyed your interesting posts, and I miss Fran too...another Floridian. So there are three of you that I know of, used to be four with our departed Norm.

Patricia, I think you are so wise and understanding in allowing Farrah to take her own sweet time in adjusting. To me our animals are a great deal like us in personality problems, and she has a lot to overcome from being mis-treated. Like some of our returning military that have been so destroyed in mistreatment.

Bis, I am so glad you got your rain and I too hope it lasts throughout the night. There is something so soothing in the sound of rain falling. I have loved it since I was a kid.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Joan, I was going to ask if you got rain because when I looked at the Weather Channel radar, it showed rain in your area.  I hope you got enough to do some good.

June, we really considered Norm as a Michigander, not a Floridian.  He would love to have lived in Florida all year long, but his family, especially Dot, would not let him stay down there.

Mary Ann

halkel

Well, this old day has about run it's course.  Along with me.  My son in law came over today and he changed the turn signal light on my Mazda.  What mess, you have to take the wheal well cover lose to change the light.  And Steve is no young chick himself.   Anyhow it was a job well done even if it did take some doing and time.

Talk to my Oncologist twice today and scheduled to get my shots started a week from today and he also prescribed some pills I have to start tomorrow and he said the bone scan was okay.  Whatever okay means.

June, hellllllooooo dance instructor (wait and see).  ;D

Joan, happy you are getting rain.  Bad weather here tonight.  Heavy winds and rains and to continue through Thursday.  I just saw a message that Val Verde county, where my girls live, is under a severe thunderstorm warning in the upper part of country. Earlier TV weather-guy said RADAR was indicating four inch hail in South Texas, but sparsely populated areas.  I certainly don't want any of that.

Anyhow, good friends.  Off to bed for me.
Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams
