Bis, I am about to head down for lunch, till I view the menu, I don't know what is being served. but there is a wide variety.

Patricia, it sounds to me like Farrah has decided it is HER home now and she is definitely telling you what she desires. We are their servants, because we love them, and they are unable to care for themselves. They appear to adopt us, not we them.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

angelface555

Thank you, June.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDbYR0ExLw0

The above is a video from the owners of the two Bengal cats, Pixel, and Sushi. When I played this compilation of two year's condensed cat meows, cries, grunts, and warbles, I was hoping to hear and recognize some of Farrah's odd sounds.

The external speaker sits just to the right of the monitor, on top of my computer tower so sounds aren't always connected to what happens on the screen. To make a long story short, Farrah was absolutely galvanized by the sounds.

She jumped up, three or more feet, and totally ignoring the cats moving on the screen, she circled over and around the computer tower and repeatedly sniffed the external speaker. She just knew those cats were somewhere and she was going to ferret them out!

I think she may become like Sarah if she ever connects what's happening on the monitor screen to the sound effects.

This has always baffled me.......information on filling urine tube......start " mid stream...." if I knew how much I was going to do, that wouldn't be a problem.... ::)

angelface--It sure sounds like Farrah is slowly becoming acclimated to her new home.  Thanks for the link.

June--It's great there's such a big variety of choices for your meals.

Vanilla-Jackie--It baffles me, too.

Jackie, start going.  Then stop and fill the container/tube and finish going.  I've been told you don't need to fill the entire container/tube.  They usually just need a small amount to test.

The "mid stream" is to clear the urethra of old or stagnant urine at the beginning so they have a fresh sample.

Patricia, Darn ! I couldn't open the clickable. My computer tells 'flash player is outmoded. I tried to download it fresh from two different methods and neither worked. I am dumb about down loading, will have to ask my son for help, but right now both sons are visiting, along with their wives and I don't want to disturb them. I will see if the desk can send someone up to do that for me. They do work on repairs, but I don't know if they can be bothered with downloads.

MaryTX, you explained it well for the mid stream needs. It would be nice if they gave us a wide mouth jar.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jackie:  It means you are to stand in the middle of a river and take a sample...... :D  Don't do what I say.

Jenny: Best to have that foot looked at - go to an ER.  I am never going to an Urgent Care again.

June:  I loved that book.  Hugs to you.

Beverly:  My favorite ads are the animals in the Budweiser ads - we used to live in Fort Collins and often visited the barn where the Clydesdale's lived - as well as a Dalmatian
named Dotty.

Larry:  The jumping letters never happened until Windows 10 downloaded - everything else seems to be working fine.  I know - I know about getting some help but something always comes up and I have always been thrifty but generous to others I hope.  Don has such arm pain so that isn't easy for him - who always used to be in the workshop.  Things are different now - as so many here can relate to that reality.

A bit of sun here with afternoons of heavy winds and rain for the next few days.

angelface555

June, if you type in your search box, "Bengal Cats YouTube." you should come up with  an entire page of youtube videos. The ones I looked at were for a pair of British Bengals, named Sushi and Pixel. The man posting has a whole group online. He, his wife and daughter are really into the cats.

Beverly said she sent a video on how to Bengal proof your home to her daughter who evidently has Bengals.

With MS our bladders are up the creek....My problem is more with the......( Problems with emptying ) rather than storing...although I am on the loo a lot...

Problems with storage

When the nerve pathways in the spine are interrupted, even a small amount of urine in the bladder can cause it to contract. This causes a need to urinate frequently â€" known as frequency.

Another problem is an inability to ‘hold on’, called urgency. If this is severe, urgency incontinence will be a problem.

The other main type of bladder disorder is to do with emptying.

If the bladder muscles don't work in coordination, this can  make urine flow poor and interrupted, and your bladder may not empty incompletely.

If your bladder isn’t emptying completely, you may not be able to feel it. However, if you need to go to the toilet for a second time only a short while later and you’re passing a similar amount of urine, this could be a sign that your bladder isn’t emptying fully. Urine left in the bladder â€" this is called ‘the residual’ â€" stimulates further bladder contractions and can add to problems of urgency and frequency.

( They will get their sample...)

Hi MaryTX.  My urologist says two or three drops is enough.

June--Sorry you are having trouble downloading.  The do give me a wide mouthed plastic container.

Carol--Things sure do change for most of us in our Senior years.

Patricia, Thank you for trying to help. On my iMac uTube seems to be operated through or with Adobe helper. I can get uTube to light up, but it won't operate any of the programs on the side. I did see a whole list of kitty meows, but no way to open them.

We only got to view half of Fiddler on the Roof. The new activities director said she didn't realized the movie came in two parts, so she will show the second half at another time. My favorite part is when he sings and dances to "If I were a rich man". I can hardly sit still, I want to get up and dance with him.

Jackie.  Now we don't have a National Health service here in US.  We have Medicare for over 65 if you have worked and are on Social Security.  But the Medicare they deduct around $1400 a year from a SS monthy Cheque.

I know that the National Health is not as good now in UK. Was great for my family though in the Years my Mum, Aunts and others used it.  Unbelievable how good when I gave birth over there. 15 days hospital and then another problem I had.  Last experience was with my aunts. past 3 years ago in their 90s.Nurses in twice a day. Cleaners. Paid other help. Put lift on stairs to get up to 2nd floor.  And I had no problem using it when I came back home. Would have girls there for 4 months in summer and both got measles. and some other things. Dr. came everyday to check them. But I suppose with all the People there now for other Countries it is not the best. They have big families. I saw them all lined up when I went to Clinic . Same problems here in US now.  Health service for some not good. Unless you have good Insurance to pay for it.

LARRY  only place you can have a ceiling fan here is in the bedroom and the kitchen.  Kitchen is a small galley type but there is an opening over the sink into the living area. Cannot have one in there because there is a sprinkler in the middle of the ceiling. Larry looks like the seniors have been brought up the right way.

JOAN  heard more about that wrong way accident on the news. The one going the wrong way was seen doing a U turn and heading back and was reported to police. They set out to stop him but got there too late. He was speeding the wrong way in the slow lane where a cop had just got off duty  and was heading home.  He was on the force just 1 year. The wrong way driver was 23 and the cop not much older. Sad really.

JUNE  like you it is work not to water the 5 plants I have left. I had one more, a cactus that needed re-potting badly.  I used to have thick leather gloves to handle that one but they wore out. A friend loved it so I asked her if she wanted it. I really do not have room for these but will keep them.  I can go down to the community room and look at the plants there. So many and all doing wonderful. A big Christmas cactus that was just in bloom again. Does that about 5 times a year. The outside wall is all windows and faces east, southeast, best light for house plants. One if my neighbors up here took it upon herself to water them, been doing it every Monday whether they need it or not. She told me that the former manager did that but the new one cannot be bothered. So this lady started to do it. She has a spray bottle that she sprays water on the leaves. The Library/computer room has some hanging plants in the windows.
Ant the lobby has a couple, too. On the tables in the lobby they have vases of artificial flowers they change with the seasons and different holidays. Good artificial flowers that look so real. At Christmas they do buy a couple of real Poinsettias. Don't know what they do with them the one after. Hope not just throw them away. I never get tired of looking around in the lobby.

JOAN  when I moved here only service dogs were allowed. Now we have 3 new residents with small dogs and 2 are barkers. Glad they are not near me. They are allowed to take them to only one area to do what needs doing and the owners have to pick it up. They throw it in the trash dumpster. Stinks in the summer. I saw the one woman with a dog throw the bag in the trash barrel in front of the entry doors. Some here are too lazy to take their trash to the dumpsters and put it in that barrel. Manager sent a notice to everyone that barrel is not for that kind of trash. There are some here who can hardly walk but go to the dumpsters. Most people follow the rules but there is always someone who thinks they don't apply to them. When we sit on the porch someone always brings a snack. The papers from it go into that barrel. Small things like that are what it is there for.

PATRICIA  at least Farrah lets you know when it is time to eat. Glad she is not hiding under the bed all the time. That youtube is so funny. The different sounds they make had me laughing. Thanks for the link.

CAROL  like you I love the Budweiser commercials with the animals. If all commercials were that good we might not mind them so much.

Sleep well and wake refreshed.

Good evening.  Thank you for the nice comments regarding my foot and Kurt's injured leg.

Kurt't went to a hand surgeon today to get a shot for his trigger finger.... While there doc looked at his leg and sent him for a tetanus shot.  Kurt asked him about my foot and he feels it is a tension or ligimate, not a bone so told him what I have been doing is the best thing I can do.  I was able to hobble around a bit more than yesterday.  I hope it will get better and better each day.

JACKIE, I am sorry to read that you have fallen through the cracks once again and are now starting over with getting this treatment done.  Clearly something is wrong and they need to get on it NOW!

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jeanne P, like most things they were good in their day, their infancy, re,the NHS.....

I was looking on the internet for privately run MS Specialist Nurses, from maybe a privately run agency but, they don't exist, so as it stands we have no choice but to be at the beck and call of the NHS run MS Nurses....And my new Nurse let me down with her written appointment last week, my first visit with her......Personally given the choice I would rather pay, as my belief is you get what you pay for, or thats the way it should be in theory...So if you pay, you should expect a better service for your money....although I am aware that is not always the case....but it would be nice to have that choice...

Jenny, bad luck seems to follow me.....my luck certainly isn't improving since I moved here....even our pet groomer let us down the day before....What with the bathroom flood, R trying to fix it but setting it off again..... R setting the smoke alarm off, not once, but twice, on previous occasions....and we have only been here two months....Oh and not forgetting R dropping my rollator down the three concrete steps to the front of our home, took quite a tumble....

Jenny forgot to mention, re, our NHS, the Sunday morning I took myself to outpatients over my broken foot, he never x-rayed just sent me home...yet there were a couple of drunken yobs who had been in a Saturday night fight, one with head wound which he was taken in for x-ray, he walked in.....oh and the outpatients dep, was as good as empty, so this wasn't a " not having the time " thing...

Fractions

Our school's math teachers was giving a lesson on fractions and wrote an example on the chalkboard. He explained that the numerator was the top and the denominator the bottom. Leaning against the board, he asked the class, "Are there any questions?"

When he turned back to face the board, laughter filled the room. "Mr. Alexander," one student giggled, "you have chalk dust all over your denominator!"

Food For Thought

Look to Jesus
(By Charles H. Spurgeon)

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." { Hebrews 12:2 }

It is ever the Holy Spirit's work to turn our eyes away from self to Jesus; but Satan's work is just the opposite of this, for he is constantly trying to make us regard ourselves instead of Christ. He insinuates, "Your sins are too great for pardon; you have no faith; you do not repent enough; you will never be able to continue to the end; you have not the joy of His children; you have such a wavering hold of Jesus." All these are thoughts about self, and we shall never find comfort or assurance by looking within.

But the Holy Spirit turns our eyes entirely away from self: He tells us that we are nothing [in ourselves], but that "Christ is all in all."

Remember, therefore, it is not [just] thy hold of Christ that saves thee-it is Christ; it is not thy joy in Christ that saves thee-it is Christ; it is not even faith in Christ, though that be the instrument-it is Christ's blood and merits; therefore, look not so much to thy hand with which thou art grasping Christ, as to Christ; look not to thy hope, but to Jesus, the source of thy hope; look not to thy faith, but to Jesus, the author and finisher of thy faith. We shall never find happiness by looking at our prayers, our doings, or our feelings; it is what Jesus is, not what we are, that gives rest to the soul. If we would at once overcome Satan and have peace with God, it must be by "looking unto Jesus." Keep thine eye simply on Him; let His death, His sufferings, His merits, His glories, His intercession, be fresh upon thy mind; when thou wakest in the morning look to Him; when thou liest down at night look to Him. Oh! let not thy hopes or fears come between thee and Jesus; follow hard after Him, and He will never fail thee.

"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness:
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name."

Thought of the Day

"We may have as much of God as we will. Christ puts the key of the treasure-chamber into our hand, and bids us take all we want. If a man is admitted into the bullion vault of a bank and told to help himself, and comes out with one cent, whose fault is it that he is poor? Whose fault is it that Christian people generally have such scanty portions of the fine riches of God?"

Good morning Joan, and all who are soon to follow.....Our weather looks dry, and part sunny....

R kindly dropped my urine sample in to GP surgeries receptionist first thing this morning....I may have gone along with him for the ride but I am awaiting in case plumber turns up to do our - my shower, so far no phonecall, ( told by man at office it will be done today)....So I am hoping he is on site and will just pop in and do it....been quite some time now since I last had a good wash...and tomorrow If I am not let down again, my new MS Specialist and her body guard should be coming, I want to freshen myself up before they turn up.....
I am now off to have brekkie....

Ha ha, I am hoping the man would leave the money just where it is....." Thought of the day...." it would be not there for the taking....

Edited, just had the Minutes of last weeks AGM meeting come through our door by our parkhome manager, who isn't allowed to attend......The back page lists our up to date residents names and home numbers...this eventually will get bigger as there are soon to be a maximum of 40 homes on our site, we have presently 26......We have had workmen on the site preparing the grounds for the new parkhome arrivals...which will be mainly down the bottom....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up a bit earlier than usual this morning.  I slept rather fitfully as the doggies were restless and I had several weird dreams.  One doggie is now snoring at my feet.  I think the other one is sleeping in the living room.

I hope you all have a lovely day blessed with whatever pleases you most.

Good morning everyone.
Another lovely day in the making here. Taking dh vehicle in to be checked out ,noise in the front end and I hope it is not too serious.
I have little chores around the house to do and then will weed the garden.

Jane , have a great day at work.

Jackie, good morning.

Gloria, it annoys me to no end when people don't pick up after their dog. I have taken these girls to a park and one had to be on the watch where they step! Always carry plastic bags in my pocket or vehicle to pick up after these girls.

Hal, hope the allergies are better today.

Joan ,thank you for breakfast.

Jane S, if there is such a thing as reincarnation I want to come back as a dog, but only a well looked after doggie.....at least I will have a nice bed and get plenty of good sleep, your - our doggies don't know when they are well off....

Amy, agree, there is no excuse for not picking up after ones dog - dogs....I remember when soon after moving to my old address, there were a couple of strategically place dog bins around the Glebe ( an area of open grassed land ) yet it wasn't long after moving there that we noticed on the ground right next to the bin would be dog poop, how Idle can anyone be?.....This was one of the first things we noticed, people were more messier in our village than the Town I had previously just left....Also a lot more litter around our village too...would often see volunteer children, adults out clearing the littered debris scattered around...

Good morning/afternoon Vanilla-Jackie.  Hopefully your plumber will arrive soon.  Being without a properly working shower is annoying.  I hope the visit by the MS Nurse goes well.

Janie--Good morning.  Suffice it to say I had a terrible night.  I'll need a nap today.

Good morning, Amy.  Hopefully the noise in your husband's vehicle calls for no major repair.  The HOA here is constantly sending out "friendly reminders" telling folks to pick up after their dogs.  Their are special bins, strategically placed throughout the community for dog waste.  Additionally there is a dispenser of "poop bags" next to each bin, so there's no excuse for people not being "good neighbors".

Joan, I don't think he will be coming today....as R told me a few hours ago that man from the office would phone to confirm yesterday, he never phoned....R hasn't seen plumber onsite this morning when out with the dogs.....

Oh to have a good shower, only used old shower once, and had the odd bath a few times, just a quick in and out, soap and water thingie.....no relaxing and head back on bath pillow as I once used to do, and with bubble bath...all a thing of the past.....

R waiting in, has his shopping to do but doesn't want to miss the lady hairdresser that is due to make a few customer visits on site today, only sets foot around here on a particular occasion, once every so many weeks, told by neighbour that she does around 5 or 6 peoples hair, and told to come and pay R a visit, so he doesn't want to go out and miss her, not knowing what time she will arrive....

R is outside our front of home pulling up weeds, or maybe good plants....

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day with zero chance of rain.  It is to get up to 87 degrees this afternoon.  The schedule today is light as we only have our Senior Luncheon at 11:30 this morning and the rest of the day is clear.

Yesterday turned out to be very busy.  I sprayed the insect barrier around the house and then repotted my front porch flowers, which turned out to be quite a big job.  I found two of the containers that came with the house had no holes in the bottoms of them to let excess water drain out.  So I fixed that and put some rocks in the bottom, then potting soil and took the flowers from the containers they came in and planted them.  It doesn't sound like much but it was almost too much for me as couldn't stay upright by the time I finished and was bent over like a little old man.  However, a few minutes rest restored some of my energy and I was able to make it to my meeting on time.  Scott came over about 5 pm last night and helped his mother fix a surf and turf dinner.  We had a small package of frozen shrimp and also finished up the three steaks we had left from the Omaha Steaks we got at Christmas time.  Pat baked some fresh roles and we also had fresh sweet corn.  It was a delicious meal.  It was a nice evening.

Carol, I sent you a separate email concerning information I found on a possible fix to your cursor jumping problem.

Lloyd, the SurfLink sounds like a very useful tool for you to help with phone calls.

Jenny, glad you are being able to get around a bit easier and it sounds like it will just take time for it to heal.

Jackie, you lost me with your comment about your new MS Specialist coming with her "body guard".  Why a body guard?

Joan, so sorry that you had a terrible night and hope you can get some extra rest today and have a better night tonight.

angelface555

Good morning, another rainy day here.

In our apartment building, we have on the left side, a fenced in area attached to an entry door. It has both bin and dog bag containers across from the door. Folks get comfortable and forget the cameras that are set in all public areas.

There is one warning slipped under your door and the second is a publicly posted list of those who don't improve. The third time isn't a warning but the loss of your pet ownership ability. You are violating not only the building and association rules, you are also violating borough, (county); rules.

This building has five floors and 196 apartments available to those over 62 and disabled. Each tenant is allowed one pet twenty pounds or under. While the majority are cats, there are almost as many dogs and service animals are not immune to the rules.

While the building is a small community, as most are retired or not working, there are still some who feel they are above the rules. Last year, we actually had folks taking framed pictures off the walls of the third-floor library and taking them home.

There was a note posted in the libraries, laundries and garden areas to the effect that they knew who the guilty party was due to the cameras and it might be a good idea to return the framed pictures which were soon done. as to not be made public.

Farrah is back to her usual morning skittish behavior, she seems to relax more in the afternoon and evening. A person could get a complex...

I have also had some bad nights. I seem to sleep better in the winter when sounds are muffled. I remember just enough about my dreams that they were active and bizarre.

Larry Hanna, new MS Specialist was due to make a home visit one day last week....I had made a slip remark when over the answerphone confirming her appointment by mumbling, " I am in an abusive relationship..." I said that as a warning that there could be a bit of an atmosphere.... so I kind-of dug a hole for myself....So hey ho, what did she do, she didnt turn up....When we finally got in-contact over the phone, after me chasing her up, it transpired that because of my mumbled message that for security and safety reasons someone needed to come along with her...Originally she tried to hide that by telling me the reason she never turned up was that she, they didn't have my up to date home phone number but, she kind of slipped herself up, re, she may not have had my phone number but, she did have my address....Sorry just the term I am now using , re, her bodyguard....I told her that she will be safe..... ( it is only me he verbally abuses and sometimes threatens..)
