Good morning everyone.
Where is Joan?? This is not like her not to be here early in the morning.

Off to the city today dh has 2 appointments today, sure hope the we don't get 80 -90 temperatures today. Yesterday was a great day for getting things done. Weeds that thought they could stay in my flower garden were taken out and given a new home in the garbage..next the shed got a clean out now there is a lot more room and items of no use we put in with the weeds or ready to put in the yard sale.

Jackie, how is Benji this morning?

June, hope your feeling better now .

Joan , hope everything is alright your way.

Will put some muffins in the hidey hole till Joan comes in.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, yesterday was great for weather and today looks like it will be the same. Was out on the porch most of the afternoon and was out there again after supper. Lots of talk and laughs. All that fresh air really gave me a good night's sleep. Only thing wrong with that is I am so stiff this morning it even hurts sitting here. Excuse me for not commenting. Going to take a shower and hope the water eases the stiffness.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be a hot day here in South Carolina as it is suppose to reach 91 degrees this afternoon.  This will be a full day for us as Pat has a dental appointment at 9:15 this morning.  I then need to make a trip to Walmart for a prescription and a couple of other items and later today are son will be over.  I expect we will all go out to eat this late afternoon or evening.

Molly, touching experience attending a military funeral.  It must be a difficult experience for Chap to conduct those funerals.

Jackie, it sounds like Benji went though a lot and will have to recover as anyone would having 12 teeth cleaned and work done on the gums.  I expect food is the last thing he is thinking about.  Don't beat yourself up over this.  You took him for regular appointments for checkups.  Be kind to yourself.

June, glad you saw the nurse and hope you hear from the doctor shortly.  Do they have an x-ray machine at your facility?

JaneS, will the Little Holligan be spending much time with you this summer?  You may be reaching the time in your life when you must slow down a bit and let others know when you get too tired.

Junee, glad to hear you are enjoying your iPad.  I would be lost without mine although my iPhone is a miniaturize of the iPad with the phone as an added feature.

Where is Joan? is there a reason as I am sure I haven't seen any posting from her telling us she wont be here today....I do hope Joan is alright....or maybe I had missed that she had to go on an early morning appointment....just not like her to be late...
........................................

Amy,and others who have asked over our Benji......he is more the Benji we know today, even looks more like him....Yesterday when we arrived they said they were going to take his drip out, so I am guessing he hadnt long come from the vet table, nor the anaesthetic....He looked real bad yesterday, hard to have recognised him.....This morning I crept towards his bed only to still find him in it where I left him last night, he didn't move and I was fearing the worst that he was still very weak and wouldn't touch his food but, as early as it was, I called out ( his hearing is not what it used to be, he is 13 ) TOILET, he got up, looked stronger, I could see he had a slight wag in his tail...I then called out DINNER , put a little vet recommended food paste on a flat saucer, he ate that, a little more I put down, then both dogs usual feeding time a couple hours later, done the same and added his two tablets, as soon as his ate that, a spoonful of food, I quickly put down some more, he ate that but struggled with his mouth near the end....R isn't allowed to give him outdoor exercise this morning, maybe a short outdoor walk later after dogs second meal....Benji has been in and out of our back garden......I can see the stitches loop drooping outside the bottom of his mouth both sides....vet gave us a chart showing the full set of dogs teeth and marked with a x the ones that have been taken out, the main tusk like teeth are still in....all in all there are 42 teeth, leaving a mere 30....Of course we still have his kidney problem to get sorted....
Oh and I keep telling Benji, things will get better....meaning, he has had his remaining teeth scaled, the infection is gone, and he should have a decent pair of gnashers....

Amy, if hubby's appointments are medical, I am hoping that all goes well....

phyllis

I'm worried about Joan, too.  Very unlike her to not be here before the rest of us are even up.

June, I hope you will be feeling better today as that medicine clears your body.

We are supposed to see a little sunshine here today. The temp. is to be much warmer but the AC is working just fine.

Checking in early to see how Benji is doing, so happy he is better, Jackie.  No question that we hurt for them more than they hurt, for sure.  Quite an ordeal for him and impossible to explain why it is necessary.

Time to worry about Joan, she is never missing without warning us so am with all, prayers and worrying.

Good morning to all, I had my sliding door open all night so Tom & Tiger thought it fun to come to the screen to beg to come in, eat a few bites & back out..  kept me up & down until I finally got sleepy enough to close the door.  I feel a nap calling but will have breakfast first.

Kind of steamy day here, I'm afraid, but what the farmers will need to dry the fields so the combines can roll in.  The wheat is looking good, always a hold your breath time for farmers with storms that can flatten a field just when ripe.... or rain & muddy ground.

All join hands and say, "God Bless Joanie"..... and Every Friend..... :smitten:

Shirley, Phyllis, the longer it goes on, the more worrying it becomes....

Good Morning Everyone!

I too join in in hoping our Joanie is okay.  Hopefully early morning apmt.

Stormy weather forecast for today and tomorrow.  I don't know how many of you remember me posting about Medina Lake not far from my house and how empty is "was".  It is not 100 percent full and running over spillway and now everyone is worrying it will overtop to dam and cause problems.  Typical Texas weather.

Not much going on here, just the bad weather.

June Drabek

Good Morning All…

I was wakened at 6 a.m. with a tapping on my door. I called come in, and here is was, a tech to take a blood test, along with one of our nurses. Talk about service. The Nurse asked if I had been called about the test, and I said No. All went well, and I went back to a half sleep. Finally got up at 8 o'clock, and having my first cup of coffee.

Larry, No, we do not have an X-ray machine here. Blood tests and X-rays are taken by an outside firm. They arrange the time schedule when they have about a dozen or so patients whose Dr. ordered them done. All is done right in our rooms, the X-ray machine is on wheels and all the patient has to do is be there. Talk about service. I love it. They even bill my Ins. Co.

I just called Bis' phone number and there was no answer. So I will say a prayer for her safety.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

CHEERS EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!! I had left a message on Bis's phone and I just had a call back from her. She is FINE. Her computer is not, it is down, hence her absence.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Happy June Oneth.   :)

SO happy to read that June had been in contact with Joan and she's o.k.

Shirley,  the folks in the Texas panhandle are really generous with their storms - either sending them to you or to me.  However, I've noticed that quite a few are coming in from Colorado so maybe we need to speak to Denver Jenny about that.   :chatter:

Jackie,  I'm so glad that Benjie seems better this morning.  I'm sure we wouldn't want to eat either if we'd had that much dental work done!  Hope he continues to improve.

Nothing much going on around my house but it may pick up toward the weekend.  Miss Emily (athletic granddaughter) is working at the national college softball tournament being held in OKC from Friday until next Wednesday.     "Gammy's B&B" may be the easiest place to spend the night if she has to work games at night and again the next morning.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Sandy

Thank you June
for following through with checking
up on Joan.

Now I am sure that everyone
feels relieved now that we know  that
her "problem" is a tech one,
and not a personal one...

Phew!

LARRY - I smiled when I read your comment RE Chaps conducting funerals for Military personnel at Arlington Cemetery.  I'd posed that same comment to him many years ago, but he smiled and replied "Mom, the Lord blessed me with this gift to help families remember their "fallen" with love and pride for their service.  Of course it's NOT easy, but it's a blessing for me to Serve the Family and remember with great pride the Service their loved one gave to our Country."

What a relief, thank you, Junedrabek......to the rescue...

Thank you, June, for letting us know. I have been popping in and out since early this morning to see if Joan posted. So glad to know it's her computer that is ailing and not her! (By the way, I'm happy to hear you are feeling a little better.)

A busy day for me as we are getting ready to fly to to VT/NH tomorrow. I'm a little slow today. I let myself get overtired on Tuesday. Sometimes I forget I'm not 35.  :) I'm looking forward to my high school reunion and seeing my family.

Sunny, warm and humid today. It's 94 at 1:30 p.m.

Good morning from another warm, hazy, summer's day in the Interior.

Farrah is still quirky and skittish, runs at the drop of a hat. However, she comes to herd me to the kitchen with little whines and chirps and hangs out in the bedroom doorway, to see if she can stay out or dash under the bed. Also, if I am in the bathroom, she runs, even from under the bed, to have her back stroked and her rump scratched.

She does not meow, use her claws aggressively, nor does she rub against you to mark you as hers or actually mark anything. I'm beginning to wonder if she had a mother to teach her these things? She does use the litter box, sometimes quite enthusiastically  in covering up her deeds, rather like those Eastern dances their men are so fond of! She also runs if you raise your voice, even if it isn't directed at her.

Yesterday I caught her trying to leap at my dangling shamrock plant and she ran and hid and hasn't gone close to the plant table since, (In my sight at least). This morning, I found her perched on the back of the toilet seat, against the back and she looked like she was investigating or trying to fish the water. She does get fresh food and daily water!  I have never seen a cat so different than the norm.

This morning I am expecting UPS and a package, my balcony greenhouse and a cat box with 18" sides and back sent from Amazon. I have been tracking and while their speed in delivery is good as usual, their trail is odd. It starts out in western Washington, goes to Dallas/Ft. Worth, Louisville, Ky and then on to Anchorage yesterday and today Fairbanks. All this from 5/28th till today, June first. Very odd trail.

Yesterday, I lost my balance and started to fall. I realized my face was heading towards the corner of the bedframe and had just enough time to twist away. In doing so, I scraped both knees, the right-hand palm, all very lightly. However, I took off a dollar bill sized patch of skin just below the elbow on the back of my right arm. So I am even stiffer than usual and quite cranky, as I couldn't sleep comfortably last night. This should heal quickly, though. It sent Farrah rushing under the bed for quite a bit, I guess she didn't like my language?

I'm very glad to hear Joan is OK!

I think the reality is setting in on how I reacted when the vet or vet assistant, who brought out our dog took us inside the room and as casual as can be talked, when all of a sudden in his sentence he casually said " we took out 12 teeth...." It didn't immediately sink in, I looked at Rs face, pure shock, I remember R saying..." what " I said " how many? " vet repeated 12, I said in a harsh voice," what the h***l have you done to our dog.." we didn't bring him here to lose 12 teeth, " or words to that affect...followed by " was that really necessary...." conjuring up visions of Benji never playing tug with a toy again...or grabbing a tennis ball....to be told yes, his mouth was pretty bad...then I remember next thing I said, have you left any teeth, or how many have you left, to be told 30,.... that offered some relief to know he had more than I was picturing.......then came the icing on the cake, was the bill....more than double what I - we anticipated....

This laptop is now cleaned once again and secure - it goes through an update about weekly and takes about a half hour.  We tried to go to a local Denny's for breakfast and they were gone - very few restaurants like to serve breakfast anymore.  I wonder how many breakfasts I have cooked or even how many mom fixed in her years.  She made Hash Browns from boiled potatoes the previous nights so many times - yum.

Junee:  My condolences to the family and friends of the servicemen being returned to Australia.  Australians have always been very brave.

Sandy:  Summer is coming tomorrow here - I hope they put the A/C in the right window.  :)

Jane:  Can you cut back on one of your "duties"?  Just a bit?

Angel:  Quick thinking and that must have been quite the twist to miss a furniture post.

We put out a bird feeder two nights ago - the first morning, the entire thing was emptied probably by a squirrel or raccoon.  This morning, the entire feeder was found unbroken on the lower level of lawn - something is having a great time frolicking with the bird seed.  This is a war now - and Don is going to pin it down more.  We shall see who wins this war.  Thankfully, no bears in this area for quite a few years.   ;D

June Drabek

Hey Kids, I am off to the hospital as soon as the ambulance arrives. My blood test shows that my potassium level is very low. I need an i.v. to help me out. May be gone for a couple of days. Will miss you. June

Carol,
The maintenace man came late yesterday
afternoon and put in my AC.   He also
answered some questions that I had about
portable AC (versus the "Window" type.) ..

So next fall I may try to find one of
those portable jobs,  to use here in my
apartment.   He highly recommends them
and says that people really like them.

But I am all set of this Summer.   The Window
one is working nicely.   Hopefully the portable ones
will go on sale here in the Fall.
