Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Would you believe, referral letter says phone at 1.pm, vet twice told us to phone around 1.pm, ( face to face, and to me, over the phone ) to check on after Benji has been done....Time now 1.15pm, told R to phone,.... told, " Benji hasn't been done yet, " said they tend to leave dental-work to the last......So we weren't told that earlier.... >:(

We were previously told we would be collecting Benji around 4.pm...cant see opp and recovery taking place in the next 2 & a half hours....think it will be more like 5 or 6.pm when we go to pick him up....

JoanFL

Janie--I was a fair cook, but nowhere near as good as you are.  I didn't go to any quilting class, but had a friend who made beautiful quilts.  She tried to teach me, but finally gave up.  I hope everyone in your line at WM today is smiling.

Vanilla-Jackie--I hope the scheduling for Benji's procedures gets straightened out.

Jackie, that is what they told me also.said dental work causes a lot of particulates in the air so the so the other types of surgery first.

Hi everyone on this last day of May.  Yesterday was a quiet day but I did manage to stay as busy as I wanted.  Today likes like it will be the same.  It is already 75 degrees at 9 am so is going to be a warm day.  I plan on a quick trip to COSTCO as need more frozen fruit.  I have been enjoying a cup of my frozen mixed fruit each morning for breakfast and it is now all gone so need to make up some more but have used all my frozen fruit.

I will tend to my flowers and other plants as I do each day.  I find I am really enjoying watching the tomatoes grow day by day.  So far there are eight tomatoes with more blossoms and I can begin to see the start of a couple of yellow peppers.  Everything is very green here this time of year and really is enjoyable.

Jeanne, I have also used email to try to help someone.  When I do so I try to include images showing what they should see.

Hal, according to the weatherman yesterday it looks like you all are in for another tough weather week.  Did you watch the Colonial Golf Match on Sunday.  Jordan Spieth put on quite a show resulting in his winning without the need for a playoff.  Some of those puts on the final nine holes were just unbelievable.

Callie, I also have a listing of the e-books, audiobooks and print books that I have heard or read the last few years.  Once I find an author I enjoy I like to read a number of their works, especially it they feature the same characters. I am no where near the number you have already listed but the list does grow month by month.

Joan, I am with you on wanting to stay inside where it is cool.  Hot weather is not a heart patient's friend.

Jenny, when I met my men friends for lunch on the 13th of this month we did eat at Steak and Shake but it was in Madison, Georgia, about 90 minutes from us.  I am certain their is one in the Augusta area but haven't been there yet.

Jackie, had the child been killed by the gorilla the zoo keeper would have certainly been criticized for not taking the action he did.  It is hard to understand how a four year old got into the area where the gorilla was to start with.  It sounds like the vet is putting Benji though the paces today.  I know you will be glad to get him back home.

Junee, so nice to see your picture and now have a face to go with the name.  I think having our pictures adds a lot of our postings.

Carol and others, I grew up with it being Decoration Day and my mother always took flowers for all of the graves.  She raised a lot of peonies and other flowers that she could cut and take for the decoration.

I just viewed this video and it is one I felt I should share with you all on the time of Memorial remembrances.  https://www.youtube.com/embed/eEs4ke7cdNQ?feature=player_detailpage%25

Sandy

Good Tuesday Morning,
Everyone!   It is sunny and warm here
on the rocky coast of Maine,  today.

They will be installing our window AC's
this week.   I want to be here to see
that they put it in the correct window.
So I will be hanging around here until they
show up.

Looks like Summer is here in
New England...  Hooray,  hooray!
:wave2:

Have a good day,  Everyone!

Good morning, Larry.  Oh those nothing like a tomato picked right off the vine and  rinsed and eaten like an apple.  Thanks for that great link.  It brought tears to my eyes.

Sandy--Good morning.  Hope they get that a/c installed before it gets REALLY hot up your way.

Larry, that was a tough call on behalf of the zoo. If there was any other way to safely remove that child I am sure they would have done it. Tranquilizing the gorilla was not the answer as he may have struck out with anger at the child. Tough call with a sad ending but it could have been worse.

So far the garden is ok..no sign of my squash yet though.

R phoned vets 3.20, said he was fine but hadn't come out of anaesthetic yet, to phone back again in an hour, but did say his procedure had been a long one......R just phoned 4.20, told he has come out and to give it another hour and we should be able to collect him.....I hope Benji is ready for a big meal, that's if his mouth isn't sore...R also told we have tablets - medication for him...... Today has been one long day....Oh I did manage to get out for a downhill slope walk with R, leg was feeling pretty good, so took the chance for a walk while I can....

Lloyd Hammond

Thanks for the link Larry

LARRY - When I viewed the link you posted of the Vets saluting, tears came to my eyes.  I recall so clearly attending several services at Arlington cemetery when Chaps conducted the service for several of his Soldiers.  I stood off to one side holding the arm of a Duty Officer assigned to me.  When the services ended and Chaps turned to the Family of the deceased, my Escort gently released my arm, slowly saluted and straightened his back.  He looked straight ahead until Chaps stepped backwards and saluted the soldier in the coffin.  Very sad, but highly respectful to the Soldier and family.

Lloyd Hammond

Hall sorry missed you I was sneaking a Nap.

Lloyd

Amy

Jackie, don't give Benji a big meal...he may get sick when he has had anesthetic . Give him a little one ,I mix in some cooked rice as it is easy for the dogs to digest.

Amy--I agree that was a tough call for the zoo authorities to make.

Vanilla-Jackie--It seems the vet kept lengthening the time before you could pick up Benji.

Molly--As you read, Larry's link also made me teary.

Lloyd--Glad you got a nap.

We are back, Benji's home...Benji looks terrible....he is week, his back legs and backside is collapsing...his face looks so old and he is looking ill, and not at all like out Benji...He has had 12 ( twelve ) :o teeth taken out, his gums have been stitched....he said his mouth had been in a bad way...he still has the drip plaster attached to his lower leg which we must soon pull off....he wont touch his veterinary recuperation food....just doesn't want to eat, or can't eat....he is very weak...looking thin....panting away...some blood coming from his mouth onto his paw, onto our carpet...I am arguing with R and beating myself up as to " what kind of owners are we " how did we ignore this? why did we turn a blind eye? we are meant to be his caring and loving owners, how did this happen?....this didn't get to this stage overnight...I am holding both myself and R to blame...We have to take him back in 48 hours, check all is as it should be.....We will get that done first, get the all clear before we book his app in a fortnights time, re, his kidneys...In the meantime we have to administer double dose of different strength tablets, twice a day for a week starting tomorrow morning....

JeanneP

Junee.  Yes, you really looked to be taking in all she was telling you.  Those IPads can do so much. I even bought the book but have to look up things even after learning them. I forgot so fast anymore. Find the camera part of it so easy though. I use as much if not more than my Scanner now for copying things.
You must be getting cold weather as you had you winter jumper on I see.

Jackie, that is a lot of teeth pulled!! Scramble some eggs up for him...does he like yogurt give him  a bit of that? When my girl had her 2 pulled the vet said soft foods and not a lot at once..go easy..

They do look "rough" for a bit but give Benji time and he will be fit as a fiddle..

Forgot to say....after she was feeling better she seemed to have MORE energy and acted like a pup again and not the 10 year old she is!!!

Vanilla-Jackie--I feel so sorry for Benji and hope as soon as his mouth begins healing he will perk up.

JeanneP--I use my iPad as much as I do my PC.

I hope our June is OK.  She wasn't feeling well and hasn't been here today.

I also feel angry last vets never acted on it when they checked him over and looked inside his mouth, re, I mentioned......." his teeth look pretty bad, don't they..." to not get any response, only from one who partly agreed with me......this has been a build up, not over months, but over a few years, but I didn't know his gum-gums had gotten infected....I will only be relaxed in the morning once he has eaten some food, the time now is 8.40pm....and its like Benji doesn't know what to do with himself, nor where to settle......
Along with everything they have flushed out his kidneys....

JACKIE, you can't beat yourself up........there were more issues involved at the time.  I have been thinking about you and Benji and hoping that his procedure was going well.  I know it has been a very stressful day for you AND poor Benji.   He will feel much better tomorrow and of course he will do much better after he can get some food in his tummy.   HUGS to you, and know that I will continue to hold you both in my thoughts and prayers.

PATRICIA, I loved seeing the picture of your Farrah.  She is a beautiful kitty.  Thank you for sharing the pictures with us.

JUNE, I do hope you are feeling better this afternoon.........these drugs they put us on can and DO cause problems, so I am glad that you got the OK to stop taking that diuretic.

LARRY, I loved watching your Memorial Day link........it is a very touching one, and one that I will be sharing with all.  Thank you so much.

YIPEE, SANDY, getting a new A/C installed.

Washing some clothes today..........about time.  I have been putting it off.  One would think that I have to get the wash board out and scrub them individually the way I put it off.

Thank you, BEVERLY, for sharing the photo of your granddaughters pickled fiddleheads.......I am sure they are good, but I must admit my thoughts were exactly what SHIRLEY posted............all this worm talk has me a bit out of sorts.

JUNEE, I love your new avatar..........what a nice picture of you.

Enjoy your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny,  after feeling so lousy for two days, I dressed and went downstairs to our clinic. Our nurse said she would contact my doctor, and felt the doctor should recommend a chest xray and a blood test. I haven't heard any more, but she did tell me to go back to bed, and she ordered lunch and dinner to be sent up to my room. So I am following orders and doing nothing. They are very cautious here, don't want anything spread around to other residents.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--I hope Benji settles down and sleeps.

Jenny--Good thing we don't have to use a washboard or the washing would never get done.:)

June--Glad you saw the nurse and are following instructions.  I pray your doctor has some advise about your medications.

My last day of picking up a third grader...don't know what's coming next year.  The school where she will go is all the way on the other side of town from where I live and the schedule is different.  We'll see what transpires.

I'm very tired today.  The job and the heat and the Little Hooligan all take my energy away.  I hope you are all feeling well and that life is treating you the way you like it.  Take care of whoever you love including yourselves.

JOAN - May I pose a question. please?  For the past couple of days when I turn on my computer and click on Seniorsandfriends, I no longer receive the regular site that has always appeared on my screen.  Instead, there is a range of different topics, but no way seemingly for me to access Soda Shop (which is one of my favorite sites).  Has there been another rearrangement of the various topics?

Molly

mycheal

June, god's speed in getting you going again.
But super on the in apt delivery of food and listening to the Nurse hoping the blood work and x rays resolves all quickly .

June Drabek

Bis, had a call from Nurse downstairs. She finally contacted the doctor, and was told I should not take any more to the pills...I knew that myself. I was asked to turn the remainder of the pills to the clinic and they would return them to her. More stress on "do not take any more", and I am to have more b.p. and lung testing tomorrow morning. The Nurse insisted I have lunch and dinner at home, so supper just arrived. Much too much food. I am thankful for all the caring they give.

Mycheal, thank you for your kind words. I am feeling better at this time, so maybe the affects from the pills is wearing off. Keep well my friend, health is very valuable.

It has been a very quiet day, both here and in the S.S. It is so great to be able to come in and share with all of you, I never feel alone having my cyber family out there. I had better go eat some of that food.....
