Carol, one of my responsibilities is over for the summer.  Today was the last half day of school for The Little Hooligan.  I don't have her for the summer.  She goes to what she calls "Day Camp" run by the Lewisburg Recreation Authority.  They have plenty of outdoor space, lots of indoor activities and the use of the community pool which is right in their back yard and the gym and hikes on the rail trail.  Lots of field trips and she has a great time.  And I have the summer off.  I miss her but it gives me a chance to regroup.

June, my prayers go with you.  You will be in good hands!  The Lord be with you!

I was out weeding yesterday and my neighbor across the street came over and helped me.  Then her husband brought the wheel barrow over and took all the weeds away.  He has a trailer load of his and mine to the "whatever they call it" where we are allowed to dump weeds.  It looks so nice out there!

The dogs are in the doorway telling me it's time to eat.  I guess I better go feed them before they start gnawing on me.

Enjoy your evening Everyfriend!

Carol, believe me, that was quite a twist and slide and I'm really feeling it today!

Jackie, once Benji heals up some, he will be so happy to have all of that infection gone!

June, we will be awaiting your return and your hospital stories!

JoanFL

Thanks to those who were concerned about my whereabouts and special thanks to
June for calling to check up on me.  The repairman just left.  He said he did a "patch" job and two men will be back tomorrow to drill holes in my walls and install all new cable.  I have been up since 8:30 a.m. so plan to go to bed early.

June--My prayers go with you to the hospital that they can get your potassium regulated.

Thanks Carol. It is a long time since Vietnam and I hope this never happens again.

I wish you well and safe return to your home. We will look forward to hearing from you then.

Good evening, on what turned out to be a lovely day, with a light breeze.  Made my once a month trip to hematologist, for my shot.

Joan glad to see you finally got your computer working, We miss you right away.

Thanks June for letting us know what is going on.  My prays are with you, and hope it is a short stay in the hospital.   :hugs:

Well, I am so happy to see Joan's problem was with her computer health & not her own body!  Hope the "patch job" holds!

Patricia, Farrah sounds a lot like these cats.  Tom & Tiger have come a long way but poor little old LaurenKat still jumps & hides with any unexpected noise or movement.  I've said over & over, "it is awful that anything should be so afraid their whole life".   Tom was the one that my husband used to laugh because he was "polishing Cas' shoes" all the time, rubbing & "humming" as Cas called it (purring very loud).  He was grateful for their attention, Lauren was the one that sat on his lap or wanted to be tucked into his arm while he spent so much time in his LazyBoy.  I'm glad Farrah isn't crying at the door all the time, to go out.  After watching Lauren mourn those 3 years I won't even attempt to keep Tom & Tiger (or Lauren) in, except when traveling in the RV.  They don't like being kept inside but the change of scenery as they stand guard at windows all night, helps keep them content.  They like Walmart parking lots best, something going on 24/7.   Sorry about the fall... hope you heal fast.   :dizzy:

June, so pleased with how attentive your people are, nothing like room service!  Glad they caught the problem so quick... hey, you knew right away, didn't you?   Never fun in the hospital but at least you are nearer your son than before, right?  (Pollyanna just has to look for the good in the day)....  Keep us posted when you get a chance.  Thanks for the warning that you will be missing..... we might need to explain to our Joanie that she could have called you early this am to report her problem....  ;)

No naps today, went out shopping & came home with 2 pair of new shoes & some "footies" for summer wear.  Neither pair of shoes what I went looking for but exactly what I've been needing.... and one pair on sale!  My "less than 2 hours sleep" last night is not working, eyes are at half-mast & when I blink the lids want to stay down .... for just a minute, please.   :dontknow:

Hal, MY river was as high as I've seen it in the 30 years we've lived here & already back down within it's banks.  Got a real muddy spot next to the bank so will be a few more days before I venture out to feed the fish.  We needed the rain and now need to dry out for harvest.

Jackie, poor little Benji has gone through quite an ordeal, my heart just breaks but know he feels safe back with his loving family.  A vet bill here for all that surgery would be nearly the price of a new car.... hope your pet insurance covers all or most.  I never thought of carrying pet insurance before.   :aaah:

Better get busy, did not get the rest of my laundry done so must do a better job of planning my day tomorrow.   :tissue:

June, I am so sorry that you need to go to the hospital.  It's funny about potassium - or how different doctors handle the situation.  When Jim was low on potassium, his doctor had him eat greens only three days a week and when it got high, he had him eat greens twice a week.  My doctor prescribed some potassium pills for me - and I still am taking the diuretic.  I'll have to ask my doctor about that.  I suppose it depends on what he thinks is most important.

Kendrick does rub everything in the house including Tom and me.  I guess everything is now his "territory".

We had a good rain this morning and things have dried out since but we may get more rain overnight - a perfect time to get it.

Joan, I'm glad your absence was computer activated and not health related.

Mary Ann

halkel

June, hope you awake with nothing but sunshine and butterflies and feeling like a million dollars.  Don't tarry in the hospital, we want to hear all the news.

Shirley, almost 100 percent of Texas is under flash flood watch until Friday. This is really going to make summer seem extra hot.

Anyhow off to bed.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

When I was taking a diuretic ,
I also had to take potassium pills.   when they took
me off the diuretic, they took me off the potassium
pills.   So far, so good.

I hope June gets home quickly.

Another good place to overnight

I used to use Walmart when I

I did not get in today as we had the grand's while their mom went to the surgeon for a check.  Then we went to the opening of a new COSTCO Business Center.

I did think about Benji and hoped he was feeling better this fine day.

I was not aware of JOAN missing nor JUNE going to the hospital....and so I was able to read right away what you two were dealing with.  Glad all the s well with you, Joan! And I hope they get everything done tomorrow so your computer will be working perfectly.

JUNE, you are in my thoughts and prayers.....I am so glad that you are so aware of what is going on with your body and could get help right away.  I hope you will feel much better very quickly.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Joan, good to come in 7.am this Thursday morning and see your face on the page....have to admit my concern grew as the hours went by, that was until our Junedrabek came on with the news that is was bad computer keeping you away...

Shirley, we have the number one " PetPlan " Insurance...I say number one, as expensive, and I guess the most popular name...But as all policies they don't cover everything and I have half doubts the cleaning of teeth is one of them but...as they done other things, took out teeth, dealing with infection, and now the more worrying problem of kidney low numbers, so its now playing the waiting game to see if they pay out to meet our bill at least half way, well that's what we are hoping.....our bill came to over £400...and there will be more to add on.....Oh and of course there is always that excess that comes out, plus an added 10% or 15% now he has become a senior dog...

Carol, don't forget to have your camera at the ready, when you catch it, make sure you name and shame it...the birdseed stealer...

Junedrabek, what can I say, the Idea is to keep oneself away from those hospitals, well I have always said, and I stick by that is, " we know our bodys better than any medics, we are the ones living in it, and daily.." You done right in taking yourself off these new pills when you did, I would hate to think the consequences if you hadn't, doesn't bare thinking about...

Amy, thank you, yes I will as soon as Benji will allow me to give him a kiss and a cuddle, Ok I can give him the odd gentle cuddle over his back...At times his mouth comes towards me in readiness to give me that quick kiss, then turns away, I tell him..." dont worry, mommy knows..." so I know he wants to but he cant, thats ok with me, I can wait....

Jane S, ha ha, nothing worse than starving doggies, I make it my pledge that whatever happens they will never be without food,.... boy there have been times we have gotten down low but, I will send R out to pick up a few tins until my order comes through, dont ever want it that the dogs start looking at me, and thinking, hm, " she looks interesting to eat..."

Angelface, Benji is on " Clinacin " antibiotic tablets, just looked it up and it is for infection in the mouth, so it may take a week or more before the infection is completely cleared.....I had just assumed they were pain killers..

Jenny, wishing Michelle all the best on her check up appointment...
.........................................................................

We will be off back to the vets early this morning, so he can be checked up on how Benji is doing...then on reading their after-care info, another second follow up should be on the cards...

I am still very concerned over our missing Sun, been a good 3 or 4 weeks since she last popped in...

CHUCKLES

The Not So Dumb Blonde

I came in to work early the other day and began hanging upside down from the ceiling. Just then one of my co-workers (she's blonde ... it'll be important later) came in and asked me what I'm doing.

"Shh," I said, " I'm a light bulb -- I'm acting crazy to get a few days off, as there is an out of town wedding I need to go to until Tuesday."

A minute later the boss walked by and asked me what I was doing.

"I'm a light bulb!" I exclaimed.

"You're going crazy," he said. "Take a few days off, and come back when you are less stressed."

With that, I jumped down and started walking out. My co-worker started following me and the boss asked where she was going.

"I can't work in the dark," she said.

Good Morning JOAN.

may it be a good day for you and you get your computer fixed. We were all concerned when you did not show up.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It was down in the 60s overnight and is only in the low 70s now.  We are supposed to have the mid 80s by early afternoon.  It's nice not to need the A/C most of the day.  Saves energy (and money) too.

I'll be off to WM to greet my public today and then hurry home to let the doggies out and run off to an eye appointment.

I hope you all have a pleasant day today...even June.  But I know she will.  She always makes the best of any situation.

Long been back from our early morning vet appointment....saw vet nurse, she asked questions, looked inside Benji's mouth, wasnt easy prising it open but as always he is such a good boy.....She is happy, said stitches are self dissolving and may take up to a couple of weeks....she ran off a short list of changes, if we notice any to take him back, otherwise all is ok....I touched on the kidney subject, of what it will entail, told they will probably take another blood test, if there is not much change it maybe down to changing his diet...she did mention kidney failure could cause extra drinking of water and weight loss, I quickly mentioned we just put him on the scales and I am concerned, in his rather drastic weight loss since last time we got him weighed only a few weeks ago...., his weight is still ok for his breed and he has been this weight before, just that its a heck of a sudden drop, in such a short time......Don't think I need to be worried over cancer, although previous vet and our new vet is aware Benji has a lump in his anal area, and that some place on one side of his body in the past a lump was there... just no one can find this lump now, oh they looked for it while he was under anaesthetic, but couldn't find it.....and the anal lump both set of vets were happy that it is harmless.....We have booked his kidney appointment for two weeks time...

Joan, oh I would love to " come work for the Lord...."

They have all just walked through the door after there outdoor morning walk, Benji came as usual looking for me, his tail was wagging and he sure looked happy, his first proper outdoor walk since he had his procedure done....

Amy

Good morning everyone..

We had a nice gentle rain during the night and I hope it will continue today.Noticed that when we were in the city yesterday that a lot of lawns were turning brown, hope they also got some rain.
Nothing on the agenda today ,just chase dust bunnies and clean out another closet.

Jackie, glad to hear Benji is doing alright.Once his mouth has healed there will be no stopping him eating his regular food .

Jane have a great day at work.

Junee,good morning.

Good morning, junee.  The cable people will be back this afternoon, to replace all the cable in my house.

Janie--Good morning.  You have a pretty busy day.  I hope all those in your line at WM today are wearing a BIG smile.

Good morning/afternoon, Vanilla-Jackie.  Good to hear that Benji is making satisfactory processing healing after his procedure.

Amy--Good morning.  Chasing dust bunnies again? :)  I will be without my TVs and computer late this afternoon when they come to put in all new cable.

It is so good to see you back, Joan.  You are missed very much when we don't see your face the first thing in the morning.  I hope that replacing all of those cables will solve the problems you have been having with your computer and TVs.

I'm concerned about June.  A low potassium level can be life threatening so I'm very glad that she has been taken to the hospital where they can monitor her and correct the potassium deficiency rather quickly.  It is obvious that the diuretics that she was taking were not a good thing for her.  She was wise to stop taking them when she did.  I am keeping her in my prayers and I hope we soon hear that she is back home and doing well again.

Cloudy, humid and warm here today and I must be up and away to the grocery store.  At least, it isn't raining right now.  That is a welcome change.

Hi everyone on this Thursday morning.  It is a bit humid here in South Carolina and suppose to get up to about 89 degrees this afternoon.

Pat's dentist appointment yesterday turned out very well in that she did not need a new crown but the dentist was able to fix the problem without even needing to deaden her mouth to work on it.  It was a sizable bill but only a fraction of what a new crown would cost.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a new Chinese Buffet that opened not to long ago.  It is huge and has 9 serving tables, a Sushi Bar, and Hibachi counter and a Noodle shop as a part of the buffet. They advertise over 300 items on their buffet.  It was not the best I have ever had at a Chinese Buffet but we were there at the end of the lunch period and right before the dinner hour started and some of the food had been sitting on the buffet a little longer than it probably should have.  It was $7 for the lunch buffet so you certainly got your money's worth and $10 for the dinner buffet.

This morning I will take Pat's CPAP machine in to be checked as she is getting excess water in the hose from the machine. This place is just a couple of blocks from where I will be having coffee this my friends so will be handy.  I will then attend the Wisdom Class at church and that will likely be it for today.

Marilyn, hope you have a great vacation.  It is always nice to get away for a few days.  Is this to the same place you have gone the last couple of years?  Nice that you found someone to keep Freckles so he didn't have to be kenneled.

The following link is of some beautiful underwater photography at the Great Barrier Reef:  http://www.youtube.com/embed/mcbHKAWIk3I

Hal, it seems parts of Texas have had more than their share of bad weather.  The pictures of the flooding are terrible.

June, the x-rays and blood draws in your room is quite a nice service to you all.  So glad you heard from Joan and thanks for letting us know. No wonder you haven't been feeling well. Good that you are going to the hospital to get the treatment you need for the potassium level.  I am glad you had time to let us know.

Sandy, a number of years ago we had a portable air conditioner in our upstairs room where Stacey lived.  As i recall it worked well but you had to empty the drain pan fairly often.  We eventually replaced it with the heat pump for that area which provided both heat and cooling.

Joan,  Glad to see you back posting and the new cabling should take care of the problem.

Molly, no wonder Chaps is in the Chaplin service as he obviously has a kind and caring heart for people.

Jenny, what is a COSTCO Business Center?

Mary Ann

I take the same diuretic that gave June trouble and I've been taking it for several years.  Last year my doctor gave me a prescription for a potassium medicine and my last blood test showed the potassium level was up.  I did not connect the potassium trouble with the pill but with the lack of salads and green vegetables.  Tom does a good job of cooking, and we do have asparagus and/or broccoli (I haven't noticed any worms) occasionally.  I buy salad mix but if Tom fixes lunch or we eat out, it doesn't get eaten.  I have to make a point of having a salad.  I learn something new every day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well my Granddaughter just left for the airport, headed back to New York City.  From one of the biggest cities to one of the smallest towns, Del Rio, and back again. She was anxious to get back to NYC.  Such a change.

I have a doctors apmt that I have to leave for pretty quick, so it has been a rush this morning.  Got to see about my BP.  The nurse didn't like it (bp) when I got the implant last week.  Also I want to check my machine against theirs this morning.

Everyone have a good day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Phyllis.  I sure do hope new cable solves my problems.  I am concerned about June, too, and am saying extra prayers for her.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Hope you are feeling good today.

Good morning, Larry.  Our weather is the same as yours--HOT and HUMID.  My goodness.  That Chinese buffet certainly had many choices.  Thanks for the link--beautiful.

Mary Ann--Good morning.  I know I should eat more salads/greens, but when buying for just one person it's hard.  I don't eat the stuff up fast enough, and it ends up getting tossed out.

Good morning halkel.  There sure is a difference between NYC and most small towns.  I hope all goes well at the doctor, and you can do something to bring your BP down.

Joan, I am able to buy a 6-oz pkg of salad greens and that is what I used to buy and what I buy now.  All stores don't carry that size.  I add celery, tomato, carrots and other veggies to it, along with grated cheese and dressing.  My salads are not low-cal but they make up a meal for me.

Mary Ann

angelface555

I need to eat more salads too. But they also go bad on me before I really use them or should!

Another rainy day after seeing the sunshine. I hope the rest of the summer is better!

Here's hoping those cable folks fix your problems Joan!

Carol

I feel so fortunate to check in here with so many good people.

No camera at the ready, we were sleeping when the racoon family came for the bird feeder - they managed to take off the top of the feeder & scoop out at least a cupful of bird seed.  Those imps!

Thinking of June - a friend of mine has twice been rescued for low potassium - it sounds like it is more common in aging and athletes - we are all athletes, are we not?  We are young at heart!
