Jane,  I find that when I have the kind of things that you have been trying to get finished that I wonder where in the world am I going to find the time to get all this done, and all of a sudden everything just falls into place and things are done.  And, then you wonder why you were doing all that worrying.  And, besides, what doesn't get done, will still be waiting for you when you get back.   LOL   And, I am sure the gal who is watching your dogs won't even notice.

Hope you enjoy your supper at McDonald's with Kiran.  A couple Sundays ago, I went with my 2 little great-grand daughters to McDonald's for lunch as I had promised the oldest one, Addy, that we would go the next time I saw her.  This particular McDonalds has a play room, and both little girls were so good and ate all their lunch before even asking to go to the playroom.  It was so much fun watching them up and down this big tube thing and ending at a sliding board. I had as much fun watching them as they did. And, they were the only ones playing that day.   So,  I hope your meal there is as fun as I had.

Tisie, what a lady, Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma.  Even without the gravy.
You have every right to be proud of your kids.  You know what they say: the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.    (what are you gonna do if you run of eggs,   ;) )

I, for one, think every lady we have on this board are exceptional in so many ways.

THANK YOU, HAL!  I'm sure the other Ladies will be along shortly with their own response to your delightful thought about We Ladies!

Vanilla, they only post the last 3 digits of our phone #. The land line phones belong to Rowntree Gardens, so they have all the outgoing calls go through the desk, so we are covered in privacy. The only annoying calls I get now are on my cell phone. In-coming calls ring both my land line and my cell phone, which is a nice thing.

Tisie, I use a very flat pillow but I always tuck a portion of the pillow under the back of my neck so it feels my body is aligned. Please do not ever "shut up", I enjoyed every word of your Mothers' Day Doings. You are a true Mother for sure. I am finding the Quakers are "doers" out of love, not for monetary gain. I do pay more per month her, but every cent is worth what I receive.

Janie, you run Tisie a very close second in energy and "doings" for others. I am so proud of both of you.

Thank you Hal, you are a special Good Guy.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Sandy, I'm sure I mentioned about the horrible reactions with meds.. what they gave me in the hospital for A-fib didn't have the usual side effect but was the reason I had to stay in for 8 days, they couldn't figure what was wrong.  Until the Monday night after going home on Sat, I was a zombie... I knew where I was & how to take care of myself but could not force myself to do what I didn't want... like change the dressing on my chest.  My husband suggested cutting the pill in half on Monday night & got up next morning, ripped off the bandages & changed them.  It was hard to explain but like what I've read about the "date-rape" drug effect.  I had no idea it was the pill but it built back up in another few days so I cut the half in half & few days later cut them back to every other day until my body was weaned of them.  No problems & when the Dr got back he was okay with what I had done.  That's why I don't take meds, each time the reaction is so severe I worry that one of these days I won't pull out of it.  Sort of like with trying to force myself to use a stupid pillow & having such head aches for 2 weeks when I knew better!   I'm not being stubborn about not taking pain pills after surgery, I was just more afraid of their side effects than I was of the pain.  By 81, I just have to deal with what this body demands.

Joy, our McDonald's doesn't have a play area but the crew is like "Cheers", we know them & they are so welcoming to our bunch, nearly every Sunday.  We pull tables together & even when it's only 3 or 4 together, we love to visit.  Our MickeyD's has biscuits & gravy... not all do, and we often get that & side of scrambled eggs... yummy.

Hal, I can't take credit for what my kids & grands have done, I didn't have the ambition & drive they all have, came from their father.... but I've always been a non-stop cheerleader and help any way I can.  Our kids worked their way through college so now I can spoil them.  Like you said before, "kids are a blessing"... and like my mother used to say, "the only thing you can give your kids that they can't get for themselves is a brother or sister".   Every generation is a little better off than the last in many ways but money won't buy someone that knows the real young you when you get old.  And I will shrivel up & die if I run out of eggs!  :o

Can't tell you how many times I've talked about "my computer friends" lately, you are all special and different and a pleasure to know.  Last time out I camped next to a woman traveling alone with her dog, she uses her smart phone instead of a computer most of the time.  She sounded like she was going to check in here, but may take a while before she figures what discussions interest her.  She had the type RV I would have chosen if I hadn't needed a bedroom door for the cats.

I hear thunder so better look around!

I think Jane S, Shirley and Jenny, all put us to shame with the energy and stamina they all have.....

Halkel, not sure I fit into the usual group on this board, re, " exceptional " often feel the odd one out, re, the job we done in bringing up ones children, I have to hold my hands up and say....somewhere along the lines, I done a bad job.....but thank you all the same for including me, and all mothers....yes I am still a mother.....Of course I am exceptional in other ways..... ;)

JaneS

Thank you, Hal, for the kind words about those of us who are mothers.  Next month, I hope I remember to reciprocate and honor the extra-special FATHERS who are around here.

Jackie, my mother used to say that her kids turned out the way they did "in spite of her, not because of her".  I never thought it was entirely true but there is SOME truth in it.

And there is someone else around here with whom I will never be able to keep up....The one and only....AMY!  She has more energy and "git up and go" than I EVER had.

Joy, you're absolutely right about "things" getting done but I will still do lists for the rest of my life.  I've always said that I get more results when I have a deadline than I do when I can put it off until tomorrow...or Wednesday....or Sunday...or whenever.  Got me a deadline this week for sure!

And now I'm going to go feed the doggies and start cleaning the strawberries.  Might just eat a few while I'm cleaning.

Sandy--Ophelia is beautiful.

halkel--Thank you.  You're so kind.

Jane,  your right about making a deadline.  If someone asks me to do something for them and they say, whenever you get around to it.  I just tell them to tell me when they want it done.  If I don't, I just keep putting it off and putting it offl, like you said.   I do make a list if I am going somewhere and have to take things with me, like food.  And, I do periodically make them for other things, but I am not a regular list maker.  I do make a grocery list and usually start making a new one as soon as I get home from grocery shopping, as I invariably will forget something.  So, I need to remember to get that item the next time.

I do agree that you have a good system that works for you.

Good Evening,
Since the Oklahoma weather today made the National News (on ABC, at least),  I s'pose I should check in and let you know that a brief heavy shower with a bit of hail tapping the windows was all that fell on my house.

The close-ups of the big ugly tornado moving across a road 100 yds in front of the cameraman were amazing.  It went across the area in southern Oklahoma where MaryTx used to live.  There was considerable damage and one fatality and the same storm has put down other twisters as it moves east.
Things have settled down west of I-35 now.

Sandy, Ophelia is a cutie!!!!!

MaryTX

Would you please keep my family in Oklahoma in your prayers.  A tornado went right over where most of them live.  We tried calling but haven't been able to get through as of yet.  Hopefully the lines are just down.

Sandy, your Great Grandaughter is a beautiful little child. I am so happy for you.

MaryTX, prayers are being said for your family in Okla. Those storms can be so devastating, I pray your family is safe. Phone lines are surely down so try to be patient till you can raise them.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

Oh, Sandy, you have the most beautiful children & now grands... they have "haunting" eyes, even the tiniest.  My kids were not pretty babies, they really weren't, but they got cute after a while.  I just heard a commercial for A-fib meds & said it was NOT for a-fib cause by a valve.  Mine was caused by the aortic valve & somewhere along the line the cardio Dr explained that once it was repaired the a-fib might go away.  Guess it did.

Jackie, I used to say that "I owed my kids 18 years, after that I didn't get credit or take the blame for what they did."  My 3 are nothing alike, they are born with a lot of characteristics we don't have much influence on, I really believe that.

Joy, for sure deadlines are a must to get a job done.... for the first time EVERY window in this house is clean at the same time...  I did the cleaning as the painters took windows off & painted.  The biggest one & my kitchen window were taken off Sat. morning by my sons & I managed to keep up with the cleaning (sons had to be someplace else with only an hour to spare).  The painters cleaned the last two of the dining room ones because it got hot & my head was splitting so came inside.  I was concerned I had pushed my limits. Reminds me, I still have the inside of those windows to clean... boohoo,  will tackle that tomorrow.  They couldn't come this evening because of storms.  Callie is still pumping them into Kansas & need to check radar to see if the cats can go out for exercise for a little while.

Glad to see you are okay, Callie... my house & RV didn't get any of the hail so holding my breath, radar shows Wichita may escape any more rough stuff tonight.  My usual radar (AccuWeather) is not showing up today so am using the Weather Underground that my son had me bookmark last week.  Computer radar much more detailed than on TV.  The weeks we stayed with my husband's mother before she died, one of her friends came to visit a number of times.  She made the comment that she "never knew anyone that watched the weather as much as we did".... made me think, guess it's because we need to know when to go for shelter, huh?  Weather was terrible in KS during that time & we wanted to know what we were missing.

Joan, Sam's Club had the best strawberries I've ever eaten this year... can't count how many tubs I bought but every berry was perfect & the biggest-sweetest you can imagine.  I took a whole tub, cleaned & ready to eat when I went to MO a couple weeks ago, hoping that Doris was going to make it & was supposed to have 2 other friends visit.  One made it but not a strawberry fan & the other friend called to say she ran to the store & came out to find a flat tire so had to get a new one put on.  I was leaving next morning.  The lady in the site next to me came over to inspect the inside of my RV (as I did hers) & was thrilled with the strawberries I offered her.  Alas, none in the store that last 2 trips in.

Amy, my son & wife were the last to leave yesterday morning & I told her about your "daughter-in-love" expression & how much nicer that sounds than "in-law".... she agreed & had never heard it before, either.  She is a teacher & bet will spread the word fast, your words are going to be famous!

Back to cats & TV.... I'm sorry to think I have 6 floor to ceiling windows in the dining room to clean tomorrow... at least the other 3 layers of each are clean!

Oh, Mary, prayers for sure & will be checking back to see if you have talked to any of them... hugs for you, it is so stressful to not know.

JaneS

Mary, prayers are going up for your family and for anyone who is in the path of one of those terrible storms.

As of this moment, I have one spiffy bathroom and the rest of the hall is done.  That leaves 2 bedrooms and the porches.  Someone said that my doggie sitter won't even notice the dirt, dust and grime.  She will but she's very polite and probably won't mention it to anyone except her mother.  And her mother will tell me what she said if I ask her.  She is far to honest to lie.  So I'm not going to ask her!

And, since my plan is an early bedtime and an early rising tomorrow, I will say....

Good Night Everyfriend!  There are strawberries in the hidey hole and I wish you a restful sleep and a happy awakening!  God Bless Us Every One!

Thanks Shirley ... now I remember that
you had some severe reactions to meds....   not good!

I haven't seen Ophelia with her eyes open, yet!
Except in the pictures!!   She was a big baby for
one being induced three weeks early  (seven lbs 11 oz)
and always looked to me a wee bit older..
They have ways of telling everything today before
the babies are born..

Molly...   how did you make out with your
trip to the doctors about your headaches ??
I sure hope that they find out the cause and can
bring you some relief.

CHUCKLES

Dog Calls

Bernard, who was noted for his gracious manners, was awakened one morning at four forty-four a.m. by his ringing telephone.

"Your dog's barking, and it's keeping me awake," said an angry voice.

Bernard thanked the caller and politely asked his name and number before hanging up.

The next morning at precisely four forty-four a.m., Bernard called his neighbor back.

"Good morning, Mr. Williams. I just called to say that I don't *have* a dog."

Food For Thought

Fresh Start
(By John Coody)

"On the last day, that great day of feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" John 7:37-38

If anyone reading today is in need of a fresh start, there is good news. God is willing to grant it. A couple of weeks ago, I took a break from writing. I was tired, distressed and just honestly didn't know what to do about the situations I was facing. Being the courageous person that I am, my desire was to be four again and play with blocks.

Facing the trials and adversities of life is difficult. Facing our own struggles and failures is no fun. However, God's plan is to take all of these things, and use them to strengthen us. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." As many pastors have preached, it doesn't say all things are good. It says that our situations will work together for our good [as we] keep pressing on. Paul wrote in Phil. 3:13-14, "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

My folly was in turning back. My reasoning for taking time off was to work on my own issues and seek a fresh start. I was thirsty. In order to begin again, we need a thirst for God.

John 7:37 says, "If anyone thirsts..." If you need "refreshment" in your walk with Christ, ask yourself, "How thirsty am I for Jesus? How much desire for His will and ways do I have in my heart?" After asking those questions, ask Him to help you.

"Let him come to Me and drink." Be determined to leave everything and follow Jesus. In order to truly live in Christ, we have to remove any distraction, which could mean sacrificing something we hold dear. When you have done these things, make a decision to surrender. When I stopped worrying about what I was going to do and decided to trust Him, He showed me once again that He already had my way prepared.

Though in our eyes, our situations may be impossible, we must never limit what God can do. He is the Creator. He is capable of taking care of His creation. I pray that each of us will be learning to exercise our faith more and more.

Thought of the Day

"God may be in the process of pruning something out of your life at this very moment. If this is the case, don't fight it. Instead, welcome it, for His pruning will make you more fruitful and bring greater glory to the Father."

Good morning everyone
Another lovely day here yet still cool enough to have a fire on.
We had a truck load of wood delivered so today will be piling wood. We have a fire on here now just to take the chill out.

Jane ,thank you for your kind words but I am sure we all work like the dickens when needed and I can be a couch potato too when all the steam runs out.

Mary, prayers heading your way for you and your family. We really are at the mercy of storms/weather.

Kelly, good morning to you.

Jackie, good morning. I love my fur babies, yes even when they hog the bed or shake right after a bath. they give me unconditional love.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My plan for today is to get all the odds and ends cluttering my bedroom put away and get it ready for the cleaning. I'm planning that chore for right after I take Kiran home and eat supper.  Maybe I can make it into the other bedroom, too.  We'll see how the energy hold out.  I'll be off to Wally World to put in my 9 - 1 shift this morning.

Don't forget the strawberries in the hidey hole.  They might be good with the waffles!

I wish you all a pleasant day today....rain if you need it and sunshine if you'd rather!

Good morning, not my fault I was not here last night. Cox was having problems again. Some areas had no TV or phone or internet, either all or one or the other. I had TV but no internet. Will read but not say much this morning. There was a light frost last night but sun is shining bright and could hit 70° this afternoon.. Have a doctor appointment, made back in December. He knows I do not like making them during the winter.

SHIRLEY  I don't know how you do so many things. I have trouble just cooking for me, would never be able to cook for a crowd anymore. Enjoyed it when I did though.
