Good Evening,

It's been a busy busy day and I'm just now getting around to reading the posts.

Janie,  Hooray for the silver mesh shoes fitting!    Happy Travels and a Wonderful Time in Texas. Will you be driving through eastern Oklahoma this time?

Jackie,  hope your sofa has arrived and is all you hoped it would be.

Patricia,  I'm so glad you're keeping Farrah.  She may never lose her fear of loud noises but I'm betting it won't be long until you truly have a BFF that will be right by your side all the time.

I've been outside watering plants and the cottonwood "cotton" is thick in the air. (Achoo!  >:( ) I think the mowers knocked the hummingbird feeder down this morning because it was all "catty-wampus" on the hook.  I've been seeing a hummingbird on it now and then so must get some more syrup ready.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

mycheal

June, I certainly have been keeping a close eye on everyfriend in here :)
But I have been busy, putting a new roof on the house------- the roofer seems to have gone to another job and forgotten me in finishing up so have been cranking his tail and he should return tomorrow.
They have been installing Fiber Optics here as well and the list is endless :) But with no complaints really I go along with ease.
So know I never miss the plight of everyfriend and it appears all is going along just fine :)
Lloyd is a bit roudy in his healing process which I truly hope comes along just fine....

Gloria

I spent most of the afternoon outside. Much too nice to be inside after all the rainy days. Not used to all the fresh air and am yawning already. Getting to be an old lady for sure. Beginning to wonder if I will ever catch up on anything in the PC anymore.

HAL  at least you did not have the hail like other parts of Texas had lately. I should be used the that noise on Wednesday mornings by now but I am usually awake when they start. It was after 4am when I finally went to sleep after hours of tossing and turning.

JUNE  I like baked rice pudding-no raisins and love tapioca pudding, too. It bothers me no end when I see my helper cleaning in here or doing my laundry. So many years I did that and like my home clean. This one keeps telling me she will take good care of me. She is a great girl. She was out a few months taking classes to become a CNA, she graduated from that and I asked her boss if there was a chance I could get her back. This is her first week back with me and a joy to have around. The CNA I had when she was away would massage my aching back and expect to sit and do nothing the rest of the time here. I made sure she had something to do. With this one she is busy all the time but we talk and laugh the whole time. When she does my back I really feel better after.

JOAN  good for you getting out and away from the house and computer for a few hours and then going for lunch.

LLOYD  we are not bossing you really. We all care about you and worry every time you get hurt.

JANE  on vacation and tomorrow you really start on it. I wish you safe travels and enjoy every bit of the wedding and being with family.

KELLY  it is just after 9pm here and I will be heading to dreamland when I finish reading these posts.

JENNY  he would not sell the land but he has threatened to cut all the trees down.  Lot of work and expense 2 years in a row with nothing to show for it. Not only him but mane apple orchards here are facing the same problems. I know you will be happy to have your son back in the US again.

CALLIE  looks like every thing is OK in your area of Oklahoma. Hope it stays that way.

Gloria, that storm we had did produce some hail on East of us, so the weather guesser said tonight.

Off to bed.
Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweetdreams

Lloyd Hammond

OK Hall I am going to follow suet. it has been a hard several days. I am going to try my Owen bed tonight. the recliner is OK but not like the real bed. Good night everyone sweet dreams.

June Drabek

Mycheal, good to hear from you and know you are O.K. I'm sorry you have backward roofing people, that can be very frustrating. And costly. Thanks for the message.

Gloria, I am glad you have your good girl back again. We don't have housekeepers that give back massages..that's a new one to hear about. Lucky you. I have been going bonkers with my grocery delivery…they won't accept my credit card since the bank gave me a new one. I have a high tension headache tonight after dealing with them. So many services now do not give you a person to speak to, it is all if you want so and so, push three, etc. etc. etc. I hate it !

Good night Hal and Lloyd and all others. I too am going to an early bed. May God grant us all healing and happy days and peaceful nights. Hugs, Love and Prayers. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I got tuckered out around 8:30 and took a little nap...well, a bit nap.  I was up and zipping around doing last minute things and trying to get a lot of stuff in a small space (my suitcase) and discovered that it was after 11 o'clock.  So I did a couple more things and checked in here.  Now I'm going to go to bed and tackle the rest of it in the morning.

Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep peacefully, wake refreshed and May God Bless Us Every One!

Food For Thought
.
Why Do You Follow?
(Based on the excellent "Not a Fan" Small Groups DVD study by Kyle Idleman)

"Sometimes in an effort to get as many people as possible to follow Jesus I have, with good intentions, made following Him sound as attractive and appealing as possible...I realized that I have been guilty of selling Jesus. And in emphasizing only the parts about Jesus that I thought people would like, and begging people to follow Him, I have unintentionally belittled Him...I'm sorry if I've ever cheapened Jesus or made it sound like we're doing Him a favor by choosing to follow." - Kyle Idleman

Time for some honest self-examination & reflection:

Why do you follow Jesus?

What reasons honestly come to mind first?

List them here mentally:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Do you find your reactions to be more about what Jesus offers you (i.e. forgiveness, answered prayer, eternal life) or what He is like (i.e. His flawless integrity, His bottomless love, His selfless sacrifice)?

Do you find yourself interested in getting to know Jesus better - not only what He commands and not just His will for your life, but He Himself, His very personhood? If not, why not?

"Fans want to follow Jesus closely enough to get all the benefits, but not so close that He calls them to sacrifice or surrender things that are important...If you're unsure if you're a fan or a follower, then ask yourself this: 'When was the last time my relationship with Jesus cost me something?'" - Kyle Idleman

Did you hear about the bride that on her wedding day said to the preacher: "Can we just skip over the 'for richer or for poorer' section; I'm not ready to sign up for that." Or the groom that then said: "And can we cut the 'forsaking all others' bit? I don't want to tie myself down. I want to keep my options open."

What have you found yourself tempted to say to Jesus: "Lord can we just skip ____________?" "And Jesus can we just cut out the ____________?" What does He reply?

Can you honestly sing along with the words to this hymn today and genuinely mean them?

"I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin's dread sway,
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I'd rather be true to His holy name.

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs,
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead."

(Hymn: "I'd Rather Have Jesus" written by Rhea F. Miller; tune by George Beverly Shea)

None of this today is meant to condemn anyone, but these are tough questions we need to ask ourselves so we can work towards corrections where necessary.

Is your relationship with Jesus moving from casual to committed? If not, what's holding you back?

I've been up since 5:30 and I think another hour will do it.  So I took some time off for breakfast and a visit with friends.  So nice to see all is normal in the Soda Shoppe!  I hope you all have a lovely day.  The next time I visit with you, I'll be in Texas.

JoanFL

Good morning, Kelly.  Glad you liked it.

Amy--Good morning.  I wish you could direct some of that rain this way. You sure get those quilts finished quickly.

Good morning, Janie.  Safe travels.  I'll look forward to hearing from you in TX.

If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for me.  Later this morning I have to go to my oncologist to get the results of my latest CT scan.

Hi everyone.  It is another pretty morning but already 69 degrees and headed up to 89 degrees this afternoon.  Today will be my typical Thursday and will pick up my friend for coffee, take him home afterwards and then go to the church for the Wisdom group.  I may run a couple of errands the group.  I had my first watermelon of the season this morning and it was good.  I decided this morning that it was time to start wearing my short-sleeved shirts for the summer.

Jenny, can you tell us where Mark will be working?

June, did you activate your new card?  Perhaps you can give Gary the information from the new card and he can get it set up for you at the grocery site.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  Your weather today is going to be very similar to ours.  You can have my share of watermelon.  I've never cared for it.

Joy

Good morning, Joan and all the friends.

Joan, I certainly will keep you in my thoughts and prayers this morning that you will get good results.  I can relate to your anxiety.

Another dreary, cloudy misty morning here in Central Maryland.  I don't think this rain is ever going to end.  I think the weather people have said we have had 15 or 16 days of  measurable rain.  But everything sure is green.

Hope everyone will have a nice Thursday.

Joy

Good morning everyone, finally here this morning. Looks like another sun filled day here, so good after last week but weather guesser says showers tomorrow. Some will like that because of the pollen in the air now.

HAL  it is hard to believe so much big hail has fallen in the mid west. Glad they showed us pictures of hands holding some of them. Stay safe from that.

LLOYD  hope you slept better in your own bed last night.

JUNE She is no longer just a house keeper but a CNA -certified nursing assistant and they can help people in many ways. Like you I would rather talk to a person than punch this number or that one.

JANE  always those last minute things to be done before leaving on a trip. Have a wonderful time in Texas and safe travels.

KELLY  I never retire at the same time. When I get sleepy is the time I do or I have trouble sleeping.

JOAN  oh I will enjoy a bear claw, have not had one in ages and they are so yummy. Glad I am not like those in chuckles today. Like the last line in Food for Thought. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  we have showers in the forecast for tomorrow. Like you I wish the rain would fall in the areas that really need it.

JOAN  you are always in my prayers and I will be praying more for good results today for you. God watch over you my Friend.

LARRY  I still have not taken my lightweight clothes out ready for warmer weather. Yesterday was the first day we got into the 70's.

JOY   I thought we were bad with 8 days of rain, worse where you are.

Good Morning Everyone!

June, like Larry ask, did you activate the new card?  There should be an 800 number to call to activate.

Janie, have a great trip and visit with all the family.  I know you will have a good time in Texas, cause everyone does...... ;D  wish I was closer would like to meet you face to face and treat you to a dinner.

Joanie, enjoyed the hymn.  Living up to the words are certainly a tall task for everyone, including myself. I hope your test come back AOK, a little Cape talk from Florida.....

Hmm, no Jackie this morning.  Hope she is okay.

Good Morning Kevin, hope you day has been good.

Lloyd you are sleeping late this morning.

Amy, watch those dust bunnies they sometimes fight back.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the
Warm and Sunny,  Rocky Coast of Maine.

I wear the same clothes Summer and Winter...
Only I layer the tops,  depending on how much
coverage will be needed.

I do wear more skirts and peddle pushers
in the summer...    My needs are little so one
closet is really all I need,  year round.

Today will be the warmest day and then it will
start to cool off tomorrow..    I can wait for
the hot and humid to settle in, 'til later...

Have a good day,  EVERYONE...
And best wishes to Joan for her apt.

Good morning, halkel.  Thank you for the kind words about my test results.

Sandy--I, too, wear about the same weight clothes year around, but of course our climate is very different than yours.  Thank you for the good wishes.  These appointments make me very nervous.

JOAN - It may help a bit to reduce your nervousness if you remember that ALL YOUR FRIENDS HERE are right along-side of you in Spirit and prayers for a good report have already been sent forward.  And of course when you are home and relaxing a bit, a tiny bite of Chocolate always helps.

Sandy

Molly ....

Did you find out what is causing your head aches?

Someone mentioned Patricia’s cat, Farrah, and I realized I had a cat on my deck.  I usually let him out and set a timer for 10 minutes.  The timer went off but I was doing something that needed completion and I forgot about him.  He probably was on the deck for a half hour and he was ready to come in!  I sat on the couch for a while petting him and he was very happy.

Larry, it’s interesting.  Your temp is 69 degrees to go to 89 degrees.  Our temp is 65 and we’ll be lucky to hit 70 degrees.

Joan, good luck on your report.
