Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's scones to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely graphic creation which we are using this week.

Clip Phone

Because my mother had a habit of losing her cordless phone, I bought her a phone with a clip on it, so she could attach it directly to her belt.

A few days later, I walked into my mother's home and found her standing in the middle of the living room, halfway dressed. That didn't strike me as odd so much as the fact that she was holding her pants to the side of her head and speaking into them.

"Don't look at me that way," she yelled. "The phone started ringing and I couldn't figure out how to undo this stupid clip!"

Food For Thought

Thankful to Others

By Sergei Sosedkin
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:15-23

I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
Ephesians 1:16
Marina heard the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time while she was in the hospital. Another patient there, Antonina, explained to her what Christ did for us on the cross and how to be spiritually healed by his wounds. Soon Marina trusted in Jesus for her salvation.
Later in her letter to us she shared, “When I entered the hos¬¬pital, I was so depressed. But I learned about Jesus and was encouraged by his gospel. I’m so thankful to Antonina, who cared enough to talk to me.”
Are you thankful to people whom God sends into your life? The Bible teaches us to love both God and our neighbors. The daily practice of this love includes thanks both to our heavenly Father and to the people around us.
When the apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians, his main objective was to explain God’s eternal purpose and grace. He sought to share with his readers God’s high goals for the church. Yet against the background of this monumental task, the apostle remembers to say how thankful he is for the ordinary believers in the city of Ephesus. He compliments them for their devotion to Jesus and for their love for all God’s people. He encourages and prays for them.
In our daily interactions with people, are we doing the same?
Father, your Son, Jesus, reminded us to love you and our neighbors. Fill our souls with love toward you, and teach us how to love our neighbors through our words and actions. Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just marking my place.  I'll be back to see what ya'll have gotten into later.  I have to do a few things and get ready for church.  It went down to 28º overnight and I want to be ready early in case there's ice on the wind shield this morning.

Every time I hit the keys for my "blue" entry, I wonder....where's Mary Ann?

Good Sunday morning....

I am watching the Rembrance Day live at the Cenotaph....at least I had the dignity of standing up to attention at 11am for the two minute silence, as I will for when they play God Save our Queen, unlike R who sat through the two minute silence, nothing stopping him from standing, just idleness, cant be bothered...I told him and not the first time that he is a disgrace, for someone who supposedly is proud of our Country and proud of being British, I am so disgusted with him, but he really does not care...shows no remorse whatsoever, his excuse is, he is in his home, not out in some public place... So what is the difference?....has he never heard of that word " respect..? " There are people in wheelchairs who would stand if they could....He doesn't even stand for the National Anthem, unless all eyes would be on him in a public place, then reluctantly he would go with the flow....but if he could get out of it, he would....

Good morning everyone....

Jane, our temp is 40° at the moment....hope the day keeps warming up!

A day of rest here but I would like to hang the Christmas wreaths out while it is warm out...and throw a couple of apple pies in the oven. Will put a pie in the hidey hole for you.

There is a craft show to the north of us and might take that one in as my friend has a booth there.

I have started on another camp quilt so I can work on that too today.

Lloyd, good morning!

Jackie, good morning to you.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Lloyd.

Good morning, Janie.  Hopefully you won't have to scrape ice off the car windshield.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.  I guess "R" just has his own set of standards.

Amy--Good morning.  I love apple pie and will check the "hidey hole".  Thank you.  I remember when we lived in NY  putting up the outside Christmas decorations and we'd be freezing.  It's such fun to go to holiday craft shows.  They have one that is highly attended here called Festival of Lights.

Good Morning Everyone!

Not too chilly here this morning, nothing like you are talking about Janie, yuk! ice on the windshield.  Been many a year since I have scraped ice.

Amy, can you make one of those apple pies with the crumbly top.  Like Joanie, I love apple pie.  There is a BBQ place we go to and they have that crumbly topping on their apple pie, I always have a piece of it.

Lloyd, hope you get your computer back up and running right.  And you have a good week, with no equipment breaking down.

Joanie, loved the story about the phone.....LOL  Also your soul food, it certainly reminded me to thank those that teach us about the Good Lord.  Like you.  So thank you and a big hug.

Got to go start getting ready for church and I want a cup of coffee first.

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  Crumbly crust is OK on apple pie, but I prefer a REAL crust.  Thank you for the hug!!

Good morning everyone, don't think I will like the cold weather this winter like I always enjoyed it. First thing I do when I get up in the morning lately is turn the thermostat up. Wonder how I will feel when we get down to 0°, maybe I will hibernate?

LARRY  glad that Pat is doing better.

JOAN  at least this new doctor is doing something after the first visit where the other ones I have had did nothing at all after years of asking. Thank you for your prayers.

CALLIE  wish I could still bake the cookies and make fudge like I used to. I know my family always enjoyed them at Christmas and one grandson tells me how much he misses them.

JANE  ohh boy the coconut centers bust be heavenly. I love coconut. I used to make coconut balls, the filling is dates and nuts and then rolled in coconut.

AMY  my daughter took advantage of the Michael's coupons for framing of her paintings. When we are on Skype now I can see some of her paintings on the walls, never had enough wall space for them in the house they sold.

JUNE  I wish I had changed doctor when I moved here 2 years ago. Might be feeling much better now.

CALLIE  I am laughing at you and the squirrels. They sure are persistent critters.

JEANNEP  I brought my iron with me when I moved but it has not been taken out of the closet since.

PHYLLIS  thank you  for the beautiful graphic for this week.

JOAN  a scone with my coffee will be so good this morning. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  I know some people here who would not stand in their homes for the Nationl anthem either. In the privacy of their homes they feel they can do as they want.

AMY  oh good, I will look for that apple pie in the hidey hole and enjoy a slice of it. Cannot beat a homemade one.

LLOYD  good morning.

HAL  have a good day.

Hi everyone.  I awoke to a surprising forecast of 80% chance of rain this morning and a high temperature of 47.  It appears we had at least a trace of rain last night.  We had a wonderful visit with our two good friends from where we used to live.  It is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way and they were only able to stay a little over 2 hours but we used every minute of it in good conversation.  It seemed they had no sooner arrived than it was time for them to head home as they didn't want to drive after dark. I was sure glad we decided to eat in rather than go out.  Today is Sunday School and church and nothing else planned for the day.

Hal and Callie, it looks like yesterday was Oklahoma's day in college football.

Joan, the smoke was gone yesterday as we had a brisk wind most of the day.  I think the lunch yesterday was just right and all seemed to enjoy it.

JaneS, that sounds like a wonderful money making event.  I hope they sold a lot of tickets.  Mary Ann is fine, I think, as she is posting in Norm's B&T discussion.

June, I am confident that you will find using the laptop very much like the desktop and if you run into a problem that Gary is close by to be of help.

Callie, you are going to be on the squirrel's bad list.  Tsk Tsk.  :)  I am sure that all Gary and Dori do for you is a labor of love and a joy for them.  My sister did that for my folks after it became too much for Dad to handle anymore.  She did a marvelous job.

Hal, your comments make me hungry for some apple pie.  Do you put ice cream on your apple pie?

Good Morning,

Hal,  Thank you for the bet pay-off.  IMO, it looked as if OSU should have had one more touchdown and TX Tech should have had one fewer.  My "instant replay" must have been different from the one the Officials were looking at.

In addition to the chicken wire and pole greasing, I also sprayed the newly planted pots with stinky critter repellent.  That earned me a long Glare from one inquisitive squirrel.   (Doesn't take much to entertain me   ;D )

Off to church and OTL.  I'll let you know which world problems have been settled by The Church Ladies.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, I sometimes think squirrels like the challenges we place before them.  We USED to feed the critters when I had a big tree in the middle of my back yard, but I had to have it taken down and besides the squirrels had figured out where we kept the stash, in a big metal can (like for popcorn) on the patio and they learned how to turn it over and pop to lid off.  Then they chewed a couple of holes in our chair cushions.  So that was the end of feeding.  Now we only have one that is persistent in eating with the birds, we throw old bread out for them under the bird feeder.  We have squirrel proof feeder and they have long since quit trying to rob it.

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  I know I would not like it one bit if our temp was 0°.  Thank goodness that doesn't happen here.  Like you, I love coconut.  My  favorite store purchased candy bar is Mounds.

Larry--Good morning.  Too bad your friends couldn't stay overnight so you could have a longer visit.  I'm glad lunch was tasty and that you enjoyed the short time they were at your home.  The smoke is gone here, too, but this morning it was so foggy one couldn't see across the street.  After the sun came out it started to dissipate.

Good morning, Sandy.

Callie--Good morning.  You certainly have several tricks to keep the squirrels away from your plantings.

halkel--I do NOTHING to entice squirrels.  In Arkansas they chewed holes in our overhang, got in the attic, made nest and had babies.  We had to call professionals to get rid of them.  Then is was pretty expensive repair the damage they did to the house.

JaneS

Larry, thanks for letting me know about MaryAnn.

As you can see, I'm home.  I stayed for coffee and spice cake after church, then made a stop at WM for the coconut that I forgot to buy and picked up a few other items.  Stopped by Cathy's house to drop off something she wanted and grabbed a bottle of water out of her fridge.  Then I dropped off some items for a friend that is helping to get boxes together for Syrian refugees.  We have a church member over there working with the refugees and she lets us know what they need.

I was home about 15 minutes and thinking about feeding the dogs a snack and myself some lunch when someone appeared at the door asking for directions.  While I was directing her, I noticed that she's left the gate open.  At that point, both dogs noticed it too and Annie made a beeline.  I caught Mickie and shut her in and went after Annie.  A half hour later and with the help of my good neighbors, I had the both safely in the house and myself all tuckered out!  I'm RESTING now!

Amy--Thanks for the pie.  I'll have my slice for dessert after supper.

Janie--That lady was not very thoughtful.  She obviously had to open the gate to get to your door and then she just left without closing it.  Guess you got more exercise than you wanted to.

Mary Ann

Jane, thanks for asking about me.  I've been reading but not posting.  I've been a bit busy as we got a new washer and dryer Thursday and making room for it to be delivered.  Delivery was fine but when they put the washer in, a drain pipe from a previous a/c installation was where the washer was to go and the washer couldn't be leveled with that pipe there.  Neither Tom nor I do good getting down on our knees to unscrew the clamp on the pipe, so Tom's daughter, Annie, came here on the way to work and did the work for us.  After that things went smoothly and both washer and dryer work fine.  I don't spend much time downstairs so Tom is having the fun.

Yesterday Terry and Jan came here to help me sort through boxes in the storage room.  Jan says we're one fourth through.  i found some Christmas ornaments that I had thought had gone to Goodwill when Tom moved here.  Two were Hummels (Mary with baby Jesus and  the other is Joseph) and I was overjoyed to find them because I thought I had lost them forever.  You would be amazed at the amount of yarn Jan is going to take to her knitting group at her church.  I used to knit a lot, but no more.

Dot and I did our usual, going to church, then to Mr Burger for a long john and hamburgers.  We gab a lot and like Callie's group, solve the world's problems.

Callie I had a couple of bird feeders on poles at my last house and I don't know what I greased the poles with, but the second day the squirrels managed to get to the feeders.  I had a lot of trees on the lot (60) but they shinnied up the pole.  I don't have a bird feeder here.

Amy, your pies sound delicious and I'm going to find the hidey hole to have a piece.

Good Sunday to all!  We made it to Tucson with a day and half drive arriving on Monday.  Somehow, we have both been over-tired every day and there has been so much to tend to but things look calmer and easier now.  I am making a meatball soup and will see if it tastes good enough to bring to a neighbor who just had gall bladder surgery.

There is a quilt cut out and ready to put together if I can keep everything straight.  Everything seems to take longer and each and every day can be filled no matter what I do.

The weather here is in the 80's for a couple of days and then drops to normal 70's for this time of the year.  Being at a lower altitude has helped Don sleep and he does feel the difference.  Don't forget to look at the big moon.  it is coming and so bright that it lights up the back yard.

JoanFL

Mary Ann--That was quite an ordeal getting the new washer and dryer in and getting them to fit properly.  Cleaning out is a chore--I started on my closets last week.  Glad you found your Hummels.

Carol--Happy to hear you arrived in Tucson without incident.  It seems when you are there you are always busy.  I love seeing that big moon lighting up my back yard.
