Good morning everyone, glad  the rain yesterday held off till after my son brought me home. It was a busy day. I was in bed by 8 last night. Three busy days in a row was a bit much for me. Hope everyone did not feel as stuffed as the turkey by the time the meal was over. When I got home I did turn on the PC and Skype. Not long to wait til my daughter got on and got to talk to my oldest grandson. I enjoyed getting to see and talk to him. Next time I get to do that will be Christmas when my daughter and SIL will be at his home at Christmas.

JOAN  I hope you have heard for Joe and know how he is doing. I know you are worried about him.

JANE  glad you enjoyed the JL card.   I do love them and glad I joined. Like you I am thankful for my family and all my cyber friends. Without my computer I would be lost and lonesome. I know that is how I felt when this computer went back to HP twice.

JUNE  no matter what part of the Bible we read we learn something new. Glad you liked the card. We have a magnetic holder on the fridge with our meds listed and the names of who to call if needed.  If medics are called here that is where they look.  Have a list in my wallet, too.

JOY  lately I seem to not be able to catch up on email. Like you I am thankful not to have to shovel snow anymore. When living in my apartment at my son's house I shoveled my outside stairs and path to my car. He kept telling me he would do it but he had enough with his shoveling.

LARRY  I did enjoy yesterday being at my son's home and seeing his family. I had not been there since I moved here 2½ ago. It was hard going up his outside stairs but he was great with helping me. I am thankful my 3 grew up to be so thoughtful and helpful. I thank God they take more after me than being like their father. I usually cook about 3 bags of cranberries and put into small comntainers and freeze. I love them but I do not dring juice. I rather eat the fruit, get more of the goodness than in the juice. Here in RI tomorrow is small business day when they urge people to shop local stores that are locally owned and that includes hardware stores. There is a hardware store close to me that is small but the owners seem to have every and anything you need. Run by the same family that opened it  I don't know when but have been here since I moved here 66 years ago. When my watch needed a new battery I would buy one and my son put it in

JOAN  I have said it before, I have enjoyed your morning posts from the day I got to your Bis Busy Nest. That is several years now.

SHIRLEY  Thanksgiving leftovers I do not have to worry about. I brought home only enough turkey for a sandwich, that is all I wanted.

SHIRLEY  glad your brother is home.

MARY ANN I take a small serving of every thing I like and my plate looks empty besides what everyone else's. I just take what I know I can eat.

JANE  like your take on helping the turkey lose weight.

AMY  thank God for answering prayers and your hubby is doing better. I cannot picture you being a lazy person. You will find something to do.

JACKIE  I am glad they found no cancer. God is good as June often says.

JEANNE LEE  you have wonderful neighbors. You are a fortunate lady to have them.

SHIRLEY    I had no dessert yesterday and no candy either when I got home. Still not ready for breakfast either.

JUNE  I think I was in bed and asleep by 8 last night. I was really worn out.

JOAN  I love a poached egg on toast. Chuckles, not something for that frog to look forward to. The last paragraph in Food for Thought is something for everyone to read and pay attention to. Like Thought of the Day. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  prayers for your hubby as he gets chemo.Safe trip.

JANE  sorry you have to work today, hopefully it will not be too crazy at WM.

JOAN  I know you spend a lot of hours looking for all you post. I appreciate all you do.

Hi everyone on an overcast but warm Friday morning.  We enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving Day and dinner with Scott yesterday.

It was in our tradition except for the baked chicken rather than turkey and I think that will become a new tradition for us.  During the last stages of the dinner preparation Pat accidentally turned off the oven rather than the timer and was wondering why the dinner rolls were not browning and the a couple of other things in the oven not getting hot.  Fortunately the problem was found and no damage done.  I did eat plenty but small portions as just don't have the appetite that I used to have.  I won't need to cook anything but Pat's breakfast this morning as there are enough left overs for our evening meal plus we sent another meal home with Scott.  We did use our Lenox fine china for the first time in several years and that added a nice touch to the dinner.

Pat has always wanted one of the old Singer Featherweight sewing machine.  I was able to locate one that was owned by a friend from our previous church and bought it from her.  Other friends of our that go to the same church and have a son and family that moved to Augusta for his military assignment at Fort Gordon.  I arranged with them to bring the machine over when they came this way for Thanksgiving.  About 5 pm last night he called and gave me the address where they were.  It was about 15 miles from our house so I asked Scott to go with me, which he did, and we found where they were with the GPS (another thing I am very thankful for) and picked up the machine.  Scott took it home with him so Pat won't see it before Christmas.  It is going to be her gift from both of us.

Today will be a relaxing day with only the laundry to take care of a little later this morning.  I have no plans to go anywhere today.  The dishwasher has been emptied and I have things ready to fix Pat's breakfast.  I am going to start another project to create a cross-index of a large number of recipes Pat has printed out but are hard to find what you want.  I have an idea that I think will work.

Joy, I just checked and there is a Battery Warehouse here in our little town.  I will check them out for the watch battery.  I knew of Batteries Plus, which is also available in our area but didn't know of the Battery Warehouse.

Shirley, good to know your brother was able to be home and with his family yesterday.  Interesting discussion on religion.  We joined the Methodist church when we came here and it is a more formal service than we have ever experienced but we like it.

Callie, at my age and health condition spending the $18 for permanent battery replacement in the watch probably wouldn't be a very good investment.  Callie, Facebook is about the next best thing to actually being in the physical presence of someone.

Gloria, there is one of those old fashion type hardware stores here in North Augusta.  It is kind of a mess but the staff know where everything is located.  Glad you could be with your family yesterday.

Joan, if my memory is correct I had the same experience the last time I tried to get a watch battery changed at Walmart and for the same reason you stated.

Amy, what great news and hopefully that problem will not return for your husband.  He will have plenty on his plate with the treatments for the cancer.  Glad your driving today won't be as bad.

Jackie, the "all clear" is the type of report we all want to receive when we have medical procedures.  I hope this will put your mind at ease.

Shirley and Joan those few pieces of chocolate probably wouldn't be more than a small candy bar so enjoy!

JaneS, how fortunate you are to have such a nice family and have three 24 year old men who call you Grammy.  Hope your customers today at Walmart are in a cheerful Christmas mood and not too stressed out.

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  You've had a busy week.  I'm glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving with family.  Yes, I've heard from Joe.  He is tired, but taking it easy.  Monday he is scheduled to see a hematologist.  You are always most gracious in your accolades.

Larry--Good morning.  Glad you enjoyed your day yesterday.  I am sure Pat will be thrilled with her Christmas gift.

Joy

Good morning,  Joan and all the other Friends.

Joan,  I think I will pass on the poached eggs this morning.  I am still full from my dinner yesterday.    As usual,  my son went way overboard with so many choices.  At least, I did get to bring some leftovers home with me.  It was a nice day and I got to spend some time with one of their neighbors, who I really enjoy being with.  We hadn't seen each other for quite a while.

I had an e-mail this morning from Amazon with a of "Black Friday" deals and decided to buy myself a new Kindle Fire.  I did call first to make sure all of what is on my present one will be automatically transferred to the new one. This new one has a front-facing camera, which mine now, doesn't have.  It was a good buy and having the Prime account, I don't have to pay for any shipping.  And, will have it delivered on Sunday.  Then,  will have fun finding all the new things to play around with.

Today is a cloudy, chilly day.  I plan on it being a lazy day, as I was really tired out last night.  I had done a lot more cooking the past couple days than I usually do.

Jackie,  I am so happy that you got good news from your tests.  I know that is a great relief for you.

And, Amy, hope your husband will not have any big problems with his chemo planning.

Gloria, I am so happy that you had a nice day yesterday.  And,  I am kind of in the same boat as you...... I need a lot of help getting in and out of places, and up and down the steps.  I sometimes feel so in the way trying to maneuver me and my walker in tight areas.  Some people are not as understanding as others.  I was at my son's house yesterday and it sure isn't a house for a handicapped person.  Several sets of steps, but I managed pretty good.  One set does not have any railings and that makes it kind of difficult. I usually wind up kind of crawling my way up.  LOL.  But there is a bathroom on each level, so that is a plus.  And, there were several who helped fixing my plate.

Larry,  I know that Pat will just be thrilled with her new sewing machine.  What a nice gift.  I recently just bought a real cheap machine from Walmart, but not real happy with it.  I have a good computerized machine that I really like, but it needs to be looked at and just had a hard time getting it to the repair shop, as their shop hours didn't work out with the times that I would have somebody to take it in for me. I don't do that much sewing anymore,   but I do have a couple baby quilts that I would like to finish up and just don't have the interest, knowing that I really don't like the new machine I bought. I am just more familiar with the one I had.  Somehow, I am going to have to find a way to get the older one into the shop.

Hope you will be able to get the batteries you need for your watch.

Time to get myself moving along.

This will be a mixed-up few days now.  Seems like Saturday today.  Have a good day.

Good Morning my dear good friends. I had a wakeup call at 5 a.m. My door opened and our night nurse and a tech came in and drew a vial of blood. What a wonderful service we have here. I knew my doctor wanted another check to see how the sodium was doing, so it was no big surprise.

Had a wonderful nights sleep. Leg is starting to form a light scab....I just KNEW it needed some air in order to heal. I still get a twinge of pain now and then but nothing to worry about.

This will be a quiet day. At 3 p.m. there will be a Story of Thanksgiving...so I will check it out. And I need to make a visit to the Clinic to see if they still want a daily check on the leg, and that will be it.

Bis, my prayers for Joe, that he gets good news from the hematologist.Just being home in normal atmosphere will be healing for all three of them, i'm sure.

Gloria, My kitchenette has such a small refrigerator the paramedics would not check it...even if they saw it..so I have my DNR posted right smack by the door where they could not miss it on leaving the apartment.

I have a non-bill from the hospital, listing all the tests and the amount charged. The total is $23,649.  I'm thankful I have good insurance. I do appreciate the listing though, no other hospital had done that for me, and it is of interest to nosy people like me.

So....onward and upward we go. My housekeeper has been in with fresh linens and a change of bed, and she will return to clean the bathroom. I don't have to be present, which is helpful. Time to get dressed and go take care of the clinic business.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

I certainly did sleep long and well last night!   Don't think I realized how much I'd had to think about and do....until I didn't have to think or do (particularly think!) any more.

There were very few left-overs for anyone to take home after several of the young adult family members arrived late to yesterday's gathering.  I did bring home enough cornbread dressing for one meal.

Son got the Christmas dishes down when they brought me home - mainly because I don't know when he might have time to help again.
This is my Landscape Designer son and he has just gotten a HUGE project for an entrance to a planned housing development.  It will involve three waterfalls!  Great news in what's usually a very slow time of year for him.

Several neighbors already have outside Christmas lights up and on.  Guess I should bring in the Thanksgiving gourds and garden flag.
Off to do that and see if I can find something else useful to do.   I kinda struggle to fall into the Christmas decorating mode before December 1.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

JoanFL

Joy--I always get confused when we have a holiday during the week.  I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday.  I got an email from Amazon about Black Friday deals, too.  There was nothing I wanted/needed right now.  Enjoy your new Kindle Fire.

June--Rowntree sure takes good care of you.  Joe is glad to be home where his medical caregivers are.  Those hospital charges are outrageous.

Callie--Apparently there were hearty eaters yesterday if all you got to bring home is dressing.  GREAT that your son got such a big job during his slow season.  I never decorate for Christmas until after Dec. 1.

I'm home and waiting for Courtney and Cathy to pick me up to tag along to Wengers with them.  That's the Amish store.  I think I'll go in the living room and chase a few zzzs on the sofa until they get here.  Cathy usually sends me a text message when she's on the way.  Keep doing what your doing unless you're tired of doing that.  Then do something else...or do nothing!  You choose!

Click for Lewisburg,Pennsylvania Forecast

JoanFL

Janie--Hopefully you can catch a few ZZZs.  I'm not doing much.  I have to use my nebulizer in a few minutes.  Believe me, it gets old when one has to do it 7 times a day.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

JaneS

Oh my, Joanie, that must be a real chore!  I have to put drops in my eyes only twice a day and that gets annoying.  I can only imagine what you must go through!

I did catch a nap and I feel better.  We're not going to the store today.  Cathy had to see the dr. about pain in her back.  From it's location, she thought it might be a kidney stone but the dr. confirmed that it's not and it's probably just a pulled muscle.  I gave her Shirley's remedy of a towel soaked in epsom salt water and a heating pad and I think she's going to try it.

Time to scrounge up some supper.  I guess I'll have my leftovers from Cathy's dinner.  Sounds good but even better, it sounds easy.

Click for Lewisburg,Pennsylvania Forecast

JoanFL

Janie--I shouldn't complain because the nebulizer, the oxygen and the steroid inhalers are what keep me breathing, but it does take considerable time out of my day.  Leftovers sound good!!

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

June Drabek

Bis, I remember my brother using the nebulizer and sometimes he would practically through himself in the chair to use it again. It certainly does tie one up throughout the day, but we need to breathe. I'm so thankful there is the way to keep it helping.

I just woke up after a three hour nap, but the three ladies I had lunch with, planned on a nap as soon as they finished eating also.I woke up once and wondered where I was, then realized I had been deep in a dream, so went back to sleep.

I think I need to get out and walk around our gardens and get some fresh air. I was called down to the clinic. The doctor had ordered a daily dabbing of iodine on my leg to prevent any infection, even though a light scab has formed. So I obey. I also found out from her that my lack of sodium is related to Addison's disease. I had thought so, from my investigations on the computer, and she confirmed it.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

Time for bed...no book....I just finished one and my eyes are tired. It is time to rest the eyes as well as the rest of me. Sleep peacefully dear hearts. God is watching over us. And I love you. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Anniversary

It was our second anniversary, and my husband sent me flowers at the office. He told the florist to write "Happy Anniversary, Year Number 2. Love, Don" on the card. I was thrilled with the flowers, but not so pleased about the card. It read "Happy Anniversary. You're Number 2."

Food For Thought

Do You Carry Burdens Like Cats Wear Clothes?
(By Shannon Quintana)

Have you ever put clothing on a cat? In my super important research for this article I found it necessary to search YouTube with the words "putting clothes on cats." I encourage you to do the same, as it will definitely brighten your day. When I was younger, we had a cat named Mr. Fraidy, so named because he was afraid of everything. Get it? He was a "fraidy cat." I know, my family is a clever bunch. As a source of fun and enjoyment, we would cut the toes out of a stretched-out sock and slip it onto Mr. Fraidy. He would get up and try to walk but would ultimately end up looking like some sort of drunken sailor or just give up all together and lay down in defeat. Oddly enough, this picture of my poor, old cat came to mind when I was doing a devotion about our burdens.

Burden by definition means "a heavy load." We all carry them from time to time, and sometimes, they are put on us (like little Mr. Fraidy, God rest his feline soul). We do our best to walk around and make life work in spite of this heavy weight. If you are anything like me, you stuff the burdens down, trying to hide them until one day it's just too much, and you can't fight the desire to give up anymore. But, we are able to be free of the burdens just as quick and easy as Mr. Fraidy was. When he complained enough (i.e. meowed as loud and angrily as he could), we would reluctantly remove the sock, and he would scamper off to hide underneath a bed or behind the couch. Similarly, when we are loaded down with worries and cares, all we need to do is ask God to take them from us.

When I was watching those silly "cat with clothes on" videos, I began to wonder what God thinks when He sees me struggling to carry my own burdens. Does he chuckle sometimes at the silliness of it all? How foolish I am to think that I can handle the weight on my own, when all I need to do is say, "OK, God, this is too much; I need you to take it." ...

God is clear in His words that the MOMENT we come to Him and ask for His help, He steps in immediately to rescue us. He says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I WILL give you rest."

This is a clear invitation to come and be released from the unnecessary weight you're carrying. God has time for you, my friend! He has time to spend removing your burdens, no matter the weight and no matter how many you have been lugging around. His goal is your freedom! How can you walk encumbered by the worries, cares and stresses of life? The answer is you can't, and you weren't meant to. Don't be like those cats with clothes on. Meow (er, I mean call) to God, and He will come to your rescue and set you free from that weight!

In all seriousness, my friends, what burdens are you carrying today? It doesn't matter how small it may seem; it is keeping you from walking in the freedom God has already given you. How Jesus longs to come for you and remove that heaviness. He wants you to be able to walk lightly today. Will you let Him?

Thought of the Day

"I want to be a woman who lives totally abandoned to the first commandment: to love my Lord, my God, with all my heart. I don't want the reputation that I love God, I don't want to write songs about loving God, I don't want to talk about loving God. I want to actually love God. When I close my eyes, I want my heart to move. When I close my eyes and I look at Him, I want to feel alive on the inside. I want to look at Him with a fire in my heart and it's real."

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was a long day.Driving in to the city was a bit better than the day before ,the road was better but gosh it was foggy! We didn't get out of the hospital till 4:10. The oncologist was very nice...she talked with you, not at you or above your head. She explained everything to us. Now hubby has a long road ahead of him with 6 months of chemo, we go down one day for blood work, talk with the Dr. then back down the next day for treatment. Two of the meds will be given there and one he will come home with ,hooked to his pic line. This part empties in two days and nurse will come to our home to disconnect it.
When we got home I stopped at the mail box and hubby picked up the mail to bring it in...I drove into the garage. Walking around the back of the vehicle I slipped on the slush and down I went..by the time hubby came I was inspecting the garage floor. Thankfully nothing is broke but I went down hard on my knee and one elbow got to kiss the floor too.
Today is laundry day...then go in to pick up the meds needed for chemo.

Larry, what a lovely gift!!! They are an awesome machine an real workhorse!  My son bought his wife a sewing machine also for Christmas..

Joan, thank you for breakfast love bear claws.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 40º right now and supposed to be in the mid to high 40s all day.  Going to be a nice one.

Amy, I'm so glad you didn't hurt yourself even worse than you did.  Please be careful.

Joanie, you really picked a doozy of a reading for today.  I'm going to tell you all something that I usually keep to myself.  The reason that I haven't been sleeping so well lately is that I've been so worried about what's going to happen.  I've been so tired when I get home from my job or I exert my energy over the leaves or the cleaning or the shopping or any other chore that needs doing that I've been worrying over what will happen if I can't work any more.  Last night, I sat on the front porch waiting for the dogs to finish their last walk of the night before bed and I looked at the sky and the stars and I broke down!  Something I try not to do.  I ended with giving my burdens to God and telling Him it's in his hands and not to let me take it back if I try.  I went to bed last night and I slept all night.  Then I got up and there was Joanie's reading confirming that all's right with the world when we trust in God's help.   Now I'm in tears again but these are tears of JOY!

TODAY'S GOING TO BE A GOOD ONE!  ENJOY IT EVERY ONE!  GOD'S BLESSINGS BE ON ALL OF US NOW AND FOREVER!

Good morning, Amy.  I'll be praying for your husband as he goes through his long journey with chemo.  Thank the Good Lord that you didn't break any bones when you fell, but I know you are sore.  I pray for you, too.

Good morning,.  Joan and all the Friends .

It is a cloudy morning and still chilly.  Supposed to warm up a little bit later in the week.

Jane,  I so agree with you about today's Food for Thought !   I tend to be a lot like you and keep things to myself.  I have that message saved and will try to put it to good use.  I would guess that a lot of us have burdens in our lives.

Thank you Joan, for that special story.

Not sure what I will do today. I had a very lazy day yesterday, so, hopefully, today I can get something accomplished.  Might not be a lot, but at least do a little something constructive.  And, I am sure a couple naps will happen off and on.

Hope everyone will have a great weekend.

Good morning everyone, think I am finally rested from 3 busy days. I sure cannot not be on the go like even a year ago. My CNA was here yesterday and I let her do her job and stayed on the couch most of the day. Just being lazy these days. There is some light fog now but is lifting. Hope the sun shows today.

LARRY  my son has 2 ovens and both were full on Thursday with the turkey in one and different things in the other.  Makes me wonder how I ever made those big family meals with only one oven. Could be we organized better than my DIL and grand daughter. They were still preparing their new recipes with no organization. I like traditional on Thanksgiving not new foods. Wonderful Christmas surprise for her.

JOAN  so glad you heard from Joe. I was going to ask you how he was doing. Blood clots are bad news.

JOY  like you I was worn out by the time I got home Thursday and did nothing yesterday I did not have to do. I know what you mean about tight spaces getting around with a rollator. I am glad my sons both have railing for their outside steps. They are both great about helping me. Think they finally realize I am not the active person they were used to.

JUNE  the paramedics here know where to look for the meds list. They are the ones who put those little magnet pouches on the side of the fridge. Every year there is a meeting in the Community room with a medic and a policeman here to tell us what to be on the lookout for and the medics hand out new printed forms for us to list the meds and names on and put in that holder.

CALLIE  wow that is some job your son got for that landscaping job. My grandson has been doing better with his landscaping business. He love the designing and seeing how his ideas look when finished. On the way home Thursday I noticed quite a few houses with Christmas lights on. Way too early. I can see putting them up here before it snows but to light then up now is too much.

JOAN  the way I feel right now I might not even get any Christmas decorations out.

JANE  like your last sentence about do something else ot do nothing. That do nothing appeals to me.

JOAN  I will enjoy a bear claw this morning, love them. Oh boy that florist messed up with the anniversary card. Food for Thought is a keeper.  Good quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  looks like you will be doing a lot of driving into the city, not great in the winter months when you never know what the roads will be like. Hope your knee and elbow do not hurt too much today. Prayers for both of you.

JANE  glad you finally “let it go” Been there done that before I filed for divorce. My life has been better since then.

Hi everyone.  It is another sunny morning and we expect to get to at least 68 degrees today.  Yesterday got up to 80 degrees in our area.  Not much on the schedule for today.  I do plan on making a quick trip to Aldi's to get eggs and a couple of other items.  I will watch some basketball games this afternoon.  Yesterday I did make the sausage muffins and as I was turning them out of the pans one got away from me when splosh onto the floor. It was not a pretty site and I ended up with only 11 muffins rather than 12.  We did get the washing done yesterday but got a very late start.

Joy, I hope you enjoy your new Kindle Fire.  It is the large screen one?  My dad used to go down his basement steps backward holding on to the rail.  He said if he fell it would be facing up the steps and not down.  As a result he never fell on the stairs.  Perhaps one of your family members would be willing to put your machine in their car and drop it off at the repair location at their convenience and then later pick it up for you.

June, do you have locks on your doors?  Of course, I suppose the medical staff and other staff members have master keys so they can enter apartments as needed.  Glad you are getting a good nights sleep.  I don't think I have ever heard about Addison's disease.

Gloria, Pat always seemed to be trying new meals on special days or when we had company.  I think that almost always turned out well.  I accused her of doing that so if it wasn't good we wouldn't have so much of it to eat.  The only thing nontraditional for us yesterday was to have baked chicken rather than turkey.

Callie, great news about your son's big landscaping job at this time of the year.  I did put our Christmas wreath up yesterday.  I bought it last year and it is pretty.

Joan, yesterday seemed like Saturday to me also.  Pat is using a nebulizer for her asthma but only twice a day.  Even the co-pay on hers is quite expensive and sure glad she doesn't need it more than twice a day.  It does help her.  I keep telling her that her maintenance costs are going up quickly.

Amy, I feel for both of you in having such a long treatment of chemo.  Is this a once a week treatment plan?  So sorry to hear of your fall and certainly glad you didn't break anything.  Pat has the large quilting Bernina and a smaller "portable" one that is now really to heavy to be portable.  I do hope she will be able to get some good out of this Featherweight.  However, I just wanted her to have it while she can still use it.

JaneS, so glad you shared your burden about the future with us and know that many of us have also walked that same path.  However, things always have a way of working out and that worry doesn't solve anything but may steal the joy of today away.  You put those problems where they belong as God will carry them for you.  Today is going to be a good day.

Good morning, Larry.  Oops with the muffin.  I'm sure Pat will be absolutely delighted with the Christmas gift you got her.  Medicare + my supplement pays for the medicine that I use in the nebulizer and Medicare paid entirely for the machine itself for one year, after which it became mine.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, you couldn't have found a better friend to go to than the good Lord. He is and will always be right there beside you.

Amy, what a nasty fall.  I hope you are not to sore today and I also am happy it was not any worst than it was.  It looks like your hubby has a long row to hoe.  Hopefully he will have no adverse reactions to the chemo.  God bless you both.

Joanie, both your food for thought, as always, hit the mark.  As I have told you before: thank you.

It is a cloudy, kinda not a nice day out.  We have a COLD front on it's way, but Lloyd, Callie and Tisie will get it before us and more than likely much colder and other unsavory things that accompany cold fronts.

Funny thing this morning, I was out getting the paper and heard the mailmans truck, looked down the street and sure enough it was the mailLADY at just after 7, she was delivering packages and had one for us, some Mince Meat my wife had ordered.  Crosse and Blackwell. Hard to find and expensive to buy when you do find it. So she is now fixed up to make her Mince Meat tarts.

Gloria, like my Grandfather used to say, he wasn't lazy, just born tired and never could get rested.  I think all of us have those days where we just are not in the mood to even brush our teeth.  Have to force ourselves to do anything.

Well, we had our Wal-Mart incident yesterday.  A man was shot and killed and his wife wounded by another man who was beating on some woman in the parking lot and this guy stopped and told the man to leave the woman alone.

It truly was a black Friday for several families.

Good morning, halkel.  The sun has been in and out so far today, but like you, weatherguesser says a cold front is on its way.  Oh my, I love mince meat pie.  I was the only one in my family who liked it so didn't make it very often.  I saw a segment on the evening news warning folks to be vigilant about things that were to be delivered.  Packages are being stolen from porches all over the country.  Thanks for the link about the shooting.  It makes one afraid to leave the house.

Good Morning,

The frost was on the pumpkin this morning - or, at least, on the edges of the flower beds on the north side that were still in the shade.

Plan A for today is to mix up the "middle" of the Martha Washington candy to be kept in a Tupperware bowl in the fridge so I can "dip at leisure".

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Mary Ann

Hal, do you think some of those mincemeat tarts can find their way to a hidey hole that leads to Michigan. Like Joan, I am the only one who likes either mince or mincemeat pie.

It's about 40 degrees so far today with no sun, but no rain.  I was able to get the mail while wearing a sweater as topper and I didn't suffer any.

Tom has just come in with a "bake-it-yourself" pizza and that will be our lunch.  Tom's friend gave us a peach pie she did not use for Thanksgiving dinner and I had a piece of that about 9 am - my brunch.

Amy Dearest, your day did not start out as well as we might hope for, but I am so very, very thankful you did not break anything in your fall. You are so needed for other things right now, I pray God will give you the health and strength and peace of mind to go forward in what has to be done, in safety, some rest, and peace of mind May God be with you every step of the way. Hugs

My Janie, I am SO glad that you were able to "Let go and Let God." You just push, push, push girl, and now you know you can't do it alone. Your tears and your good sleep is proof that God is taking care of you and lessening your burdens. I speak from experience and so I understand, and I love you more for allowing God to give you more help. my Hugs to you.

Larry, yes we have locks on our doors, and yes the staff has a master key..even the housekeeper and the maintenance men. I feel very secure in spite of the fact that so many have entrance. They are all bonded when hired, but from what I have witnessed, they are all "God's People". Loving and kind, and when the techs must come in, like for drawing blood, X-rays, etc., they come from an outside firm and are always accompanied by someone from our clinic who stands by throughout the procedure. Many of the residence keep their door wide open, as they like to see people passing by, and they don't feel so alone, or cooped up.  Just like in a hospital.

Hal, it is always a big blessing when we learn we are not alone. God is right there waiting for us to reach out. What sad news at the Walmart store..and in a Season of Joy like Christmas. From what I have read or been told, the original mincemeat actually has meat in it. The mincemeat pies that i have eaten have been of a fruit that I didn't care for..rather tart.

We are having a busy Saturday afternoon. I intend to attend two..a Variety Show in the fireside lounge, then a Hymn singalong with our Chaplain this evening. There are other activities, but I do not feel all that active. It is so nice to be able to pick and choose what we want to attend. We were supposed to have some heavy rain today and tapering off tomorrow.Right now the sun is shining brightly. It may blow in later...I hope.

My eyes are getting heavy already and want to take a short snooze, since I have a free morning, I'll kick back in the recliner and see what happens.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I didn't wait for Courtney and Cathy to go to the Amish store today.  Cathy is still having problems with her back and Courtney was still sleeping when I texted them at about 9:30 so I went by myself.  I needed to get chocolate for my candy making and they have the best price around.  In addition to chocolate, I got about $50. worth of groceries.  They are all put away and I waiting to see if Cathy wants me to come over and get her set up with "Dr. Shirley's" remedy for backache.

Thanks everyone for your comments on my "let go".  I do still feel better and he is watching over me.  When I left the store, I opened the trunk of my car and loaded my groceries in, put the cart in the cart corral and half way home, I realized that I'd left my purse in the cart.  I gasped out a prayer that it would still be there, turned around and headed back to the store.  IT WAS THERE and there had been numerous people by there because the corral was empty when I pushed my cart in and there were at least a dozen carts there by the time I got back.  As I snatched it out of the cart a man said, "You were lucky!"  I said, "Maybe but I think someone up there was watching over me."  He anwered, "You're absolutely right about that".  So I have another reason to thank God for today!  You can all help me with that thank you!
