Good morning Everyfriend!  It's 43º and raining here.  It started sometime during the night and is supposed to continue for most of the day.  Thank goodness those leaves are gone and not out there getting soaked and heavy.

I gave my big report on our good day yesterday and I don't care if no one comments but I hope Everyfriend reads it because we had a lovely day yesterday.  Today, I'll be off to WM to greet my public.  Depending on how I feel, I might make some more pb cups and then tonight, my friend will pick me up for the next to last in our series on "Faith and Fear".  This one is presented by the Rabbi at a local synagogue.  I'm looking forward to it.

I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with whatever pleases you most!  Make it a good one!

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Looks as though we had rain over night...didn't take away the snow  though. Today is chase those darn dust bunnies and wash floors. Finally got all my blocks done for the triple Irish Chain so can start and sew them altogether.

We are also going to go and get a couple of pails of sand to have on hand for icy conditions that we may get over winter. I am trying to have a lot of the little but important job done before Dec 16 when hubby goes for chemo. Pantry is well stocked as it always is.

Lloyd, I too would love to do Janie's pb cups. Hope she can share the recipe with us.
Jane , sounds like a fun and productive day you two had....plus making memories for Kiran!!
Joan, thank you for breakfast, the raspberry DD is in my hand now.

Enjoy your day everyone.

As for the PB cups, I'll try to remember to write up the recipe and I'll email it to anyone who wants it.  It's not hard to do but it's a bit time-consuming.

Yes, Amy, we did have a lovely, productive and shared family day yesterday.  Makes the season bright!

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like we will have a couple of rainy days here. Has not started yet.

LARRY  I have the habit that when I come in my door I lock it, feels like I do it automatically now. There was a time many years ago we hardly ever locked doors but that was when people were more honest.

JOAN  my DIL usually has ham for Christmas but one year she had a crown roast of pork. She made the dressing and had it in the center of the roast. Delicious. The first year my grandson had his house my DIL had to work Christmas day so he invited the family to his home. He did a wonderful job and was the perfect host. As always everyone brought something but he did a turkey and it was perfect. He and his wife have had family for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and they had way too much food but everything was great.

JUNE  we have a larger laundry room than you there but there are a few who wait till they have enough for the 4 washers and will use all of them and the dryers so no one else can get theirs done.  They get told my management they cannot tie them up like that but they continue to do it.

JANE  looks like you and Kiran had a great time. How wonderful that you do not have to rake those leaves. Now that was very thoughtful of Craig to do. Shows that you are loved.

LLOYD  good morning.

JOAN  never had  DD breakfast sandwich, bet they are as good as the DD's I love. Oh wow no wonder that man did not have many visitors with those signs. Good one.  Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  I am in need of a haircut again, my CNA will bring her friend here again on the next Saturday she does not have to work. She did a much better job than the lady who comes here. That one is done in less than 10 minutes but does not listen to what I want and just cuts her way.

JANE  I was happy for you when I read your post from last night.  Hope your day at WM is filled with happy customers. Do you have that slotted spoon to use for dipping into the chocolate or use a fork? I had one of those spoons and it was much better than using a fork.  I remember making the PB balls and dipping them.

AMY  dust bunnies will always be around no matter how we chase them away.

Good morning, Janie.  I thought I commented on your day of making memories yesterday and Craig raking your leaves.  Must have just been thinking it.  We need rain desperately.  When I went out to get the paper it smelled like a fire was nearby.

Amy--Good morning.   I pray your husband goes through chemo with no problems and that after it's done he is cancer free.

Good morning, Gloria.  It seems everyone has rain but us.  Those crown pork roast are delicious, but have you seen the sky high price?  The DD breakfast sandwiches are really good--I've had them a few times.

Good Morning Everyone!

Cold here this morning and we didnt have the heat on during the night so got up and put the heater on and then the coffee. Brrrrrrr.

Hope everyone has a great day.  Janie, I know you are happy the leaves are in their bag.  will you have more to come down?

Joane, we need rain here too.  So if you see any, please share.  It seems everyone wants to keep theirs.

I need coffee, anyone else.

JaneS

HAL, the leaves are all down but I don't rule out a windy day depositing some in my yard.  However, MOST of them are gone...or will be on Wed. when my son picks them up.

I'm off to greet my public at Wally World.  Have a great day, Everyfriend!

Good morning, halkel.  For sure, if we get rain, I'll share.  This morning local weather forecaster said this is the longest period we've had with no rain since they started keeping records.  I'll join you for coffee.

Janie--I wish you smiles in your line at WM today.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone,
from the cool and soon to be rainy,
rocky coast of Maine.

Today it the big day for me.    My son
Paul is coming over to go with me
to "cut the cord" on Cable TV.

Yikes.  I have already unplugged my
cable "stuff"  and will go and face
the cable company to have them
"down grade" me to "internet only" ...

I am tickled to have my son Paul
go with me and come back with me
to make sure that the internet connection functions appropriately.   Because
without that,  I have nothing.
(Except my smart phone)...

I just hope that everything goes
smoothly... and the cutting of the
cable cord is not too painful.

Have a good day,  Everyone.

Hi everyone.  We are starting this day with a few very short showers and have the prospects for more rain during the next couple of days.  It was 68 degrees when I got up this morning and predicted to reach 75 degrees this afternoon.

The main activity for today is to attend the Adult Fellowship Luncheon and Program at the church.  As I mentioned yesterday today is a special musical program.  I love music so  have really been looking forward to this program.  Either before or after I will go to the place where Pat and I get our CPAP supplies to get her a couple of nose pillows for her head gear.  I also want to stop by Office Deport as yesterday I stopped at another Office Depot to get a notebook that Pat needed for a cookbooks she had me print out.  The price was $5.99 but when it range up it had been discounted down to $1.  I asked the clerk if that was right and she said it was as many items had been greatly discounted.  If they are still at this price I will get several as need to replace some that I am using that are pretty worn out.

Joan, with a smart phone it uses the camera to take a picture of each side of the check.  You designate the account and enter the amount of the check in a separate box.  As you think about it that is basically what the teller and bank do when you deposit in person as they find your account, enter the amount and see that your have endorsed the check and then as it is further processed by the clearing house it is photographed.  If the check was over $500 there would be a two day hold on the funds and the maximum amount of a check deposited this way was limited to $1500.  It sure saves a trip to the bank.

Don, glad to see your program will continue while you are gone and now you can sit back and enjoy that man on the radio on Sundays who play all that beautiful music and provides the interesting background information on the pieces.

Jane, how nice that you had a good day with Kiran and continued to teach her about the joy of giving to those less fortunate.  How wonderful that Craig did the leaves for you.  That was another lesson in giving and receiving for Kiran.  Nice to read that Cathy's back has returned to its normal condition.

June, sure hope you are feeling more rested today.

Gloria, is sounds like you have some residents who don't believe the rules apply to them with regard to the washers and dryers.

Sandy, hope you have a positive experience with the cable company and they don't do anything to mess up your Internet.

Joy

Jane,  I want to let you know that I read your message and I am so envious that you have such a sweet granddaughter to have fun with. The little ones in my life now are great-grands who all live out of state, so I don't  get to see them much. I would love to be able to do something fun with them.  So happy you shared your day with us.

I am writing this on my new Kindle.   Have to get used to all the bells and whistles that is on this one.   Lot of different things from my first one.

Good morning Joan and all the morning friends.  The DD breakfast is delicious.

Have a great day.

Good morning, Sandy.  Nice that Paul is willing to go with you to "cut the cord".  Good luck.

Larry--Good morning.  Thanks for explaining how check deposits works electronically.  It sure sound like it'd work well for me.  Enjoy the Fellowship Luncheon and the musical program.

Good morning, Joy.  You seem to be doing great with your new Kindle.  I don't have any great grands, but all of my grandchildren live out of state and I regret that I seldom see them.

Janie, I surely enjoyed reading of the good day you had with Kiran and the extra little nap both she and you had...a great day to start the day.

Gloria, there are still a lot of rude people floating around the place, so we just have to try and keep our temper in check, and hope that they learn to be nice before they die. I did another load of laundry today, and had no problem at all.  I have never done more that one load at a time. Of course our linens are all done by Rowntree, so it is only personal thing we do ourselves. And even there, we can pay to have it laundered, ironed, hung on hangers and delivered to our door. I want to keep doing as much as I can myself.

I had a bad night with my leg, so went down this morning as it had bled a bit even though scabbed over. They are ordering a Dobbler scan to see if the circulation is getting worse as I had quite a bit of pain during the night. I'm hoping the company will find time to do it here rather than have to travel outside the grounds.

Other than balance and mobility at 2:30 I have a free day, and that is nice. Gary and Dori are coming over for lunch with me tomorrow. I'm looking forward to that, for sure.

Time to go down for lunch now. will talk attcha later. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

June--Sorry that leg caused you so much pain during the night.  Hopefully they can do the Doppler on premises, but if not you must go where they do them.  How nice that Gary and Dori are coming for lunch tomorrow.

Good Afternoon,

'Tis a lovely sunny day in central Oklahoma.

My dil who has retired from teaching had a dermatology appointment in this area that required a treatment this morning and another one this afternoon - so she spent the "in between time" with me.

I had ingredients on hand for a chicken/spinach casserole (using a Stouffer's spinach soufflé) and a "cobbler cake" using spice cake mix and apple pie filling.  Also had a recipe and ingredients for the cheese biscuits served at Red Lobster - so I got a bag of Caesar salad mix and we had a fine luncheon.

We've always been able to visit about anything (and anybody) - and did so today.
The best part was an invitation for having the family Christmas at their house (home of The Grands).  Plan A is for them to pick me up on the way home from the other grandmother's on Christmas Eve - and bring me home the day after Christmas.  Other son/dil will be invited to join us on Christmas Day.
I am beyond thrilled and delighted!!!!!!!

Yesterday,  I began trying to figure out how to make a data base of addresses for Christmas cards that can be printed on a sheet of address labels.  Making the data base was easy - but I wasn't able to get things set up to print a different thing on each label.
Off to see if I can solve that issue.....

Hoping Everyfriend Everywhere has had/is having an Enjoyable Day.

Sandy

Good Afternoon...

I went to Cable Office and everything went well....

Too well...

Because when I came home,  I decided to make a small change.     (Big Mistake) because someone I talked to cancelled everything that I had accomplished,  earlier.

Soooooooo...
Tomorrow I will go back again...
and get it done correctly....    again.
:uglystupid2:    :crazy2:

Sandy...
(I know better,  but I still messed
things up !)

Callie--How nice you could spend time with your DIL and what a lovely lunch you put together.  And now your plans for Christmas are settled, too.
I used to print those sheets of labels with different addresses on each label--but it's been so long that I forgot how I did it.

Sandy--Sorry you messed up with "cutting the cable".

Thanks Joan....
I was a bit upset,  but Kelly and I go
out tomorrow,  and she is
taking me to get the job
done,  again !

I just kick myself for trying to
make a small change,  after the fact.

All is well.

As the saying goes, I've been "busier than a one-armed paper hanger"! We arrived home from our trip to Aruba on Friday night. The trip home was truly a "trip"! Leaving the airport in Aruba is a chore.........Along with getting boarding passes (Can't print them ahead of time there), you need to go through customs for both Aruba and the U.S. and two security lines, scan your passport and boarding pass and the machine snaps your photo. You check your luggage on the way in and then have to pick it up at a designated spot, take it to another place where you put it on a conveyor belt. Finally get to the other side of security where you have time for some lunch.  We were warned all this would take time so arrived at the airport early. After waiting another hour and a half we finally boarded the plane. Finding our Villages Taxi for pick-up at the Orlando airport and the ride home was another story.  :(  Got home around 10 p.m.

The next day our granddaughter, her husband and two boys arrived to spend the week.  Love them to pieces but wish they had picked another time.

Our dishwasher stopped working so we've been washing dishes for six by hand. My granddaughter is a big help with that. Yesterday we ordered one but won't have it till Dec. 17th.

Are you tired yet? I AM!  :)

Aruba is beautiful and we did have a very nice time! Wish we had a few more days there.

The nights have been cool since we got home but tonight it's lovely out.......71 at 8:20 p.m.

Well, I pulled my usual again...came home from lunch and slept half the afternoon away. Then since I had put in a call about more heat in the Apt.,(early morning is coooold out there baby !) so I had to stay in for the house call for that. Which I had done. I found that my Air conditioning box, is also used for heating ! plus the original style of heat that works from a furnace..probably not too reliable, hence the new A/C boxes. I missed my balance and mobility class too..darn !! Oh, I did finally get med monthly meds worked out so I should be getting the new prescriptions taken care of now.

Bis, I too hope I can get the Doppler test done here. I have had it done before, and there is nothing to it really, I guess it is getting a quick appointment would be the hang-up. And if I have to go out I will. We have a fellow that works for Rowntree that provides transportation, for a fee, of course. I have used him once before...very pleasant and helpful.

I'm going to have supper at home. Some chicken rice soup, Macaroni salad with some pieces of cheddar cheese added..maybe a slice of toasted sour dough bread, and some tapioca pudding for dessert. After the kitchen is cleaned up I will be into a flannel night gown and ready for bed.

Tomorrow is the clinic for leg check, ten a.m. Bible study, then lunch with Gary and Dori, and lots of Thankful praying for God's many Blessings. Life is Good !!!

Beverly...welcome home !!! Wow...a busy week after a trip away.....you  did well girl to get finished with that.

Food For Thought

The Trouble with the "50/50 Plan"
(by Dennis and Barbara Rainey)

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

When two people get married, they have expectations of how the relationship should work. Often, the unspoken assumption is that "My spouse will meet me halfway." Sometimes it's called "The 50/50 Plan." When the husband and wife operate on this pattern, it's easy for it to spread to other members of the family.

The "50/50 Plan" says, "You do your part, and I'll do mine." This concept sounds logical, but families who use it are destined for disappointment.

Among the problems with "The 50/50 Plan" is that giving is based on merit and performance. We focus more on what the other person is giving than on what we are doing. Love is withheld until the other person meets our expectations. Since this way of measuring out our love is subjective, the motivation for our actions is based merely on how we feel.

It's impossible to ever know if a person has ever met you halfway. As Thomas Fuller said, "Each horse thinks his pack is heaviest."

Early in our marriage we tried this plan. I would give affection to Barbara only when I felt she had earned it by keeping the house running smoothly. Barbara would show me affection and praise only when I would hold up my end by getting home on time, keeping the house in a reasonable state of repair, or working in her garden.

Contrast this with the type of love God shows for us. You might say that, no matter what we do, He gives us 100 percent. As Romans 5:8 shows, He gives us love even when we don't deserve it.

I propose that couples adopt "The 100/100 Plan" in marriage. Under this plan, each person gives 100 percent no matter what the other person does.

Prayer: That God's spirit of unmerited giving will permeate the heart of each member of your family.
