Good morning Amy and Joan, yes it was the same vet who R saw this morning but R said, neither mentioned anything of our last Thursday evening at the other vet surgery....R said vet had trouble the first time getting the wormer tablet down Toby's throat but managed to force it down on his second attempt.....plus his anal glands did need clearing out, they were rather full....Oh the " anal glands, " that was the starting and the ending of our beloved Benji...
" There is no present like the time "

JoanFL

Good morning, Lloyd.  I voted by absentee ballot.

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad the vet did get Toby to take the wormer pill.  We had one dog that I just couldn't sneak them in with her food, buried in meat, etc.  So I always had to have the vet do it.

Hi everyone on this election day here in the USA.  It is going to be a very nice day here in South Carolina for the folks who go to vote.  We have had early voting in this State as several others are doing.  However, I am sure the lines and waiting time will be long today.  It is in the 40's here this morning and predicted not to get out of the high 60's this afternoon.  The only thing on the schedule for today is to take Pat for her 11:30 am chiropractic treatment.  I may make a quick trip to Walmart to pick up prescriptions for us both.

Yesterday I had a pleasant surprise in that Pat went to COSTCO with me and was able to get the last available electric cart so she could get around the store.  She hadn't been in a store, other than restaurants, for over 3 months.  I ate a quick early lunch while we were there as didn't have much time when I got home before needing to leave for my Monday noon meeting.  The rest of the day was spent resting and taking it easy.

Our pastor posted this yesterday on his Facebook page probably because our service was 15 late getting out Sunday.  However, our congregation didn't have the same experience as those in the following story. I thought you all might enjoy it.

Half Of Congregation Dies Of Starvation As Sermon Goes 15 Minutes Over Time

RUSSELLVILLE, ARâ€"Roughly half of the churchgoers at First Baptist Church Russellville died of starvation Sunday after the pastor tragically went 15 minutes over his standard sermon time, local sources confirmed.

“We don’t know if the pastor simply lost track of time due to passion while preaching the word of God, or if something more nefarious was going on,” police chief Dwayne Carroll told reporters Monday morning.

“It’s hard to imagine that Pastor Frank did not notice the panicked glances at phones and watches, along with the thunderous stomach growls and moans of agony reverberating throughout the sanctuary within minutes after he began to breach his normal closing time,” the chief continued. “Whatever the case, he went well over his standard allotted time for delivering his message, and roughly 75 people in attendance simply could not hold out, succumbing to their hunger before the the end of the church service.”

Thankfully, the other half of the congregation was able to make a speedy exit as soon as they were dismissed, frantically rushing out the doors and flooding all local restaurants for emergency sustenance.

“Pastor Frank should have known the dire consequences of a church service going even a minute past its normal ending time,” one survivor noted to reporters. “I mean, people have to eat.”

Police Chief Carroll confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

Gloria, I think Pat would like to have the slide out shelves put into our lower cabinets.  We had done that several years ago in our last home and it was very helpful.

Hal, I have started paying my bills within a day or two after I get them.  As a result don't have many to pay at the beginning of the month.  I would rather have a good loaf of bread than a piece of cake.  The smell of yeast bread baking just can't be beat in my estimation.

Callie, glad you weathered the earthquake without damage.  I read that Oklahoma has had many, many earthquakes this last year.

deAngel, sorry that your blood test showed your count was once again down.  Glad they can treat that with the shot.

Sandy, Pat has switched to the Stevia for sweetener for her fruit and coffee and I got a nice size bag of it to use in recipes that call for sugar.  We have been using Splenda.

Jenny, many older folks don't consume enough water and become dehydrated.  I had an internist several years back that told me about 70 percent of the older people he sees who complain of just not feeling well are suffering from dehydration.  Glad your Dad is doing OK.

June, glad you were able to come home from the hospital yesterday and I expect you are feeling much better.  I well remember my bout with low sodium and getting a call from my cardiologist to get to the hospital immediately.  I hadn't been eating and was feeling very tired but thought it was from my heart.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  Local TV has been showing polling places and the long lines, so  obviously there are many who didn't either vote early or vote absentee.  GREAT that Pat was able to go to the store!!

Larry, I lifted you story about the pastor and sent it to my pastor.  Thought he would get a chuckle from it.  Although our pastor seldom if ever runs over.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like a good day to get voters out to the polls. Hope my vote counts and that there are no more "hanging chads" in Florida.  Would hate to see the results from today dragged out longer.

JOAN  I have no intention of staying up to watch the returns. I'll just say extra prayers that the one I picked wins. I lost track of how many batches of fudge I made, 3 different kind and it sure was an expensive time for me, between the fudge and all the different cookies I made.  I started buying the ingredients in September so I didn't have to spend all that at once.

LLOYD  like you I am ready for the Lord to call me home. I am not afraid.

HAL  nothing like the smell of bread baking in the oven and then when done slicing it and putting butter on it and enjoying it. Like others I too miss June.

JOAN  when I used to visit a brother and SIL he would get up early on Sunday morning and go into Fall River to a Portuguese bakery and get 2 round loaves of Portuguese bread, hurry home where my SIL and I would be waiting with the coffee ready and the butter on the table. We would devour the 2 loaves and enjoy every bite. It was still warm when he came into the house. Great memories. Thank you for sharing Dori's email with us.

CALLIE  glad you are OK after that quake. Like you at times I wonder about some of the things June eats. I used to think she had a cast iron stomach for some of that food.

GLORIA de  I have an ex SIL whose BP goes up when she sees her doctor. They laugh and call it the White Coat syndrome.  I do little cooking these days so I but the small jars of spices. If I had the room I would keep them in the freezer.

SHIRLEY  I think we all have memories of fresh baked bread. I know growing up my Mom made it often and when my family was young and I was energetic I made at least 4 loaves every week. One loaf would disappear before the others were cool.

MARY ANN  I salt the food I cook but have never put the salt shaker on the table. Glad you found the letter openers and very glad you got your computer glasses back in one piece and not broken.

JENNY  like you I drink a lot of water. From what I have read getting dehydrated is not nice.

JOAN  I will enjoy apple pancakes this morning along with some crispy bacon. LOL with Perplexed. Food for Thought, I will never understand how people cannot believe in God and Jesus. Thank you for all today's goodies. So glad June is going home.

JACKIE   hope tomorrow's appointment does come up with a cause and treatment.

AMY  good morning.

LARRY  this is a handicapped apartment and there are no drawers in the kitchen. I rather have drawers to open than have to move out of the way to open a door.

Good morning, Gloria.  In days gone by I, too, spent a lot of money making candy and cookies. It seems many of is loved bread hot from the bakery that we could eat right away with lots of butter.  Housekeepers made a mistake and came yesterday--wrong day--so they are coming back this afternoon.

Good Morning on a dreary drizzly day in central Oklahoma.
Won't be pleasant for those who have to stand in line outside to vote.  However, #1 son reported it only took him 48 minutes.  Of course, he lives in a different county and went before work, so the line may not have been as long, anyway.

I'm glad my "I Voted" sticker is still sticky enough to wear today.

So glad June will be going home today.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Good Day.

Mary Ann

I was surprised to find my question to Jackie in this folder.  I typed it then the Post did not take and I waited a few minutes before I copied it, then went elsewhere.  When I tried to find where I had been, I couldn't find it, so posted in another folder.  This dang-blasted computer!!!

I've already had three political calls this morning, at least I think they were political, and I did not answer the phone as I didn't recognize the numbers.

My day just gets better....Toby got wormed at the vets 12 noon.....around 3 or 3.30'ish pm, I sat in the living room and could see Toby eating from the grass through our glass panelled door, I called to R, told him he is eating something in the garden and moving around eating....R went out, I managed to get up, go check and saw R just literally standing over him and watching and ignoring him with whatever it was he was eating, never even bothered to stop him.....then half hour ago Toby brought up sick in the kitchen, obviously bringing up some of his wormer....we cleared that up, R went back to sit down in the lounge, me back in the computer room when I heard what sounded like Toby being sick again...yes this time bringing up a whole lot more in several places, guess now all his wormer has also come up....what was R thinking of, standing over him while watching him eat from the ground..... no wonder I daily live on my nerves....That wormer was meant to last and protect him for the next three months...

Good morning, Callie.  I am glad I voted by absentee ballot.

Mary Ann--I've had trouble with posts hanging up here in S & F today--it's slow, slow, slow.

Vanilla-Jackie--Will Toby have to get wormed again now that she brought it all up?

Joan, no, would be too risky to give him another wormer...It goes by weight of the dog, and we dont know how much, if any, has already gotten into his bloodstream, or body, or wherever it does go....

Tobys just brough up more sick...not sure I shall be going to my MS monthly social " fish and chip " evening meal tonight, we cant both leave him alone by himself....we would be leaving in less than two hours time...

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Thanks for the explanation.  It'll be too bad if you have to miss your meeting.

Joan, R is volunteering to take me, then come back home, then come later to collect me but...his Idea is to bring Toby along for the ride in the car, so he is not left alone incase he is sick gain...hellloooo, putting a dog in a moving car when they have previously been sick.... :idiot2: .....I may still go, but am I really in the right frame of mind?...on the other hand, getting out of this home and away from R for a couple of hours, can only be a bonus.... Of course this is the time I would normally be feeding Toby, that is of course now put on hold but, R will be taking over, so heaven knows what next will happen while in his, not so, capable hands....

Good Afternoon Everyone!

It is a beautiful cool but sunny day
here on the rocky coast of Maine this
Election Day.

All is well here as the countdown begins...

I am still in awe of all the space that
I have freed up since I cleaned out
my spare room.

I should have done this  a long time
ago....  but what's done is now done.

Have a good day,  Everyone!
Sandy

Vanilla-Jackie--Only you can decide if you'd be comfortable leaving for a couple hours.

Sandy--All I can say is that I will be glad when this election is over.  Good for you getting that spare room cleaned out.

Joan, I did go, and R did take me, then he came back to keep Toby company, said he had been ok.......Now its 10pm and I just fed Toby, I know a crazy time, and one of us will probably need to get up to him through the night but he was excited when I got indoors and looking for food....Since he was last fed 9am, and brought all his food up in the afternoon-evening, couldn't let him go without food inside him till morning.....

Tonight I forgot we were having a talk on " first aid..." it was interesting and I learnt more than what I knew before I went...then around 8.30pm someone brought in our fish and chip boxes,  some moved to the tables, myself and the lovely older couple I sat with stayed in our comfy armchair and had our meal on our lap, the trolley as usual came round with the cups of tea, but no nibbles this time....We had our usual raffle and I got to get up with one of my numbers, I chose a slim wildlife wall calendar complete with a black pocket diary, we get to choose from what is on the table.....

Vanilla-Jackie--That was nice of "R" to take you to the meeting, go back home to be with Toby and then come back and get you.  Glad you enjoyed the talk on "first aid" and the fish and chips.  GREAT that you won a raffle prize.

I just received this from Dori after I wrote to thank her for the mail she sent yesterday:

You are MOST welcome Joan... She is home and is taking it pretty easy today. I stopped by to see her just a bit ago. Oh how I love that lady... she is so deeply and sincerely loving herself!!!

Thank you for being such a dear friend to her.

Love, hugs and blessings,
Dori :)

Hello Friends,  I came home from work Friday feeling a little "punk" and it went from bad to worse.  Did a lot of sleeping and looked in here occasionally.  Sorry about not saying anything!  I'm starting to feel somewhat better.  I'll try to be more "here".  I'm so glad to hear that June is better!

Okay, got all the birds in the nest (even if they aren't saying much yet).... hope you feel better soon, Jane. Lots of bugs-germs going around already.  Take care, you know the drill.... "plenty of water".

I also have an owiee today, did something to my middle finger Sunday & it was throbbing by Sunday night, Monday I soaked with epsom salt several times (the antibiotic ointment didn't help at all Sunday), some better today but looks yucky...may have something stuck in where I usually get hang-nails, can't tell 'cause it is bloody & swollen, will soak again after while.

My garage door has been sticking about a third of the way down-up, just enough for me to crawl under but couldn't get the car in so I gave up & called the door company.  I didn't want to have it stick open all night & wouldn't be able to get the car out if it was in, so a necessary fix.  Didn't take him long, trip & hour charge so think it'll just be about $100.  Was afraid it would be worse so just glad it's done.  Last time he was here was 6 years ago so not too bad.

Going to be cool tonight, no frost here but expect the cats will be wanting to sleep inside.  I've been closing them off in the family room & they can go down to the basement if they like.  I get a full night sleep this way.  I feel bad making Callie sleep in the garage but she is not "house broken".... bad enough in the garage.  She uses the litter box most of the time but still thinks she needs to mark her territory & not a good thing!   :-\

Time for me to eat, the cats are not taking to this time change & want to eat earlier.  I don't think I will hold up to hear the last of the election, can't do any more after I voted!

JoanFL

Janie--Sorry you have not felt well but glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better.

Shirley--Sorry about that finger.  My next door neighbors had the exact same trouble last week with their garage door.  I am watching the election results, but think I'll soon have to give up.

Good night and God Bless Us Everyone.
