I am still at home, but dressed, and when I finish gabbing here I will go take a walk. I did something that was a success. I fried an egg in the microwave oven. It was so easy, and it was so tasty. I found how to do it on the  computer. Just typed in "how to cook eggs on the microwave", and so I tried the fried...perfect. I have no means of stove top cooking here. Just the microwave oven and my small toaster oven. Every now and then I yearn for a fried egg sandwich and today I had it. YAY !!

I slept last night with no pillow. I am trying to clear up this echo I get in my ear, so I'm trying several methods. Hang the head over the edge of the bed while lying on back, sometimes turning head to the side. Then I decided to try sleeping without a pillow all night, and it seems to be working.About mid morning today I started to get the echo, so I lay down on the bed and repeated the procedure, and then lay flat on my back for a while and it seems to have worked. I hear no echo and feel no "fullness" in my ear. It is not a wax problem, I had the ears examined for that. So I hope I have discovered what I need.

Now I am going for that walk outside...30 minute walk, with necessary sitting when legs cramp up, then walk some more.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

JeanneP--Sounds that way to me.

June--I'll have to "google" how to fry and egg in the microwave.  I hope you've discovered the way to get rid of the ear echo.

Bis, it would be a blessing indeed if I could solve the ear problem, because it seems to affect conversations too. I have read many different things about the ear and what would cause things. The computer has helped me solve many various things I get curious about.

my 30 minute walk got extended to over an hour. I had books to return to the library and a couple news ones to bring home, that takes time to decide. I will have one more walk later this evening. I enjoy going out in the evening before I get ready for bed. Nice and quiet and cool.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Regarding flying and all the rules (most of them for our own safety)..........Being older has its perks. After the age of 75 you don't have to remove your shoes!  :) The planes were packed to the limit on all our flights and the hardest part is being stuck in that seat with no elbow room.

angelface555

I have an eighty-five-year-old friend living in Dearborn, MI. She is an ex-art professor and has never had any  nefarious leanings. However, she swears that each time she flies to see her sister or her grandkids, that she is singled out to be searched. I know that one time when flying, I had to practically undress before they discovered that it was my earrings setting off the alarm! This was in July 2013 on a flight home from Anchorage.

Good Night dear ones. Sleep well and wake happy and rested tomorrow. Love, Hugs, and Prayers. June

Seems to be my pattern these days......checking in late at night to see how you all are doing!

Nothing much new going on here....we have been patiently waiting ALL DAY LONG for notice of the delivery of Bob's new cell phone.  When tracking the message it still says it is out for delivery!  It is currently 9:55PM! Hummm, some how I am doubting this.

BEVERLY, it is good to read that you were able to attend your class reunion.  Sorry the trees were not as advanced as you would have liked them to be for a nice color to enjoy.

We had very strong winds today....Mother Nature is trying to get the leaves off the trees, but many have not even started to change so that is not good.  The weather guessers say we may have snow this coming Thursday.

Good morning, JACKIE.

PLEASANT DREAMS TO ALL,

Kangaroos

A kangaroo kept getting out of his enclosure at the zoo. Knowing that he could hop high, the zoo officials put up a ten-foot fence. He was out the next morning, just sauntering around the zoo. A twenty-foot fence was put up. Again he got out.

When the fence was forty feet high, a camel in the next enclosure asked the kangaroo, "How high do you think they'll go?"

The kangaroo said, "About a thousand feet, unless somebody locks the gate at night!"

Food For Thought

The Greatest Thing

By Keith Mannes
Scripture Reading: Psalm 27

One thing I ask from the Lord . . . that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. . .
Psalm 27:4
My friend Ron died in a car accident, but it’s not clear how the accident happened. Maybe the car’s accelerator was stuck. Maybe Ron had a stroke or a heart attack and couldn’t control the car.
In any case, it must settle upon us that sanctification is the most important process in life. Giving your life to God, seeking God and his purposes, and offering yourself in worship and obedience to God, just as in Psalm 27â€"well, this is urgent. There is nothing more powerful and majestic and essential than becoming a Christianâ€"and getting better at living it (with God’s help) from the inside out.
This is not a fear thing. You may have heard preachers say, “Turn, or burn! Believe in Jesus, or you will go to hell.” Well, I believe in hell, but the main reason to believe in Jesus is that he loves us so much that he made it possible for us to have full life with him forever.
Believing in Jesus is a desire thing. It involves the desire to know God and to get your hands into whatever he’s doing (Philippians 1:9-11). All of our conversations and the stuff we did in our little church communityâ€"like trying to help Dwayne and lots of other lost and needy peopleâ€"these are the things of Christ, and they are eternal.
Do you have something like that going in your life? Devote your life to Christ. There is no greater thing.
Right now, Lord, redirect me. Take me into your kingdom. This is the hunger of my soul. Hear me, please. In Jesus, Amen.

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's a foggy Autumn morning out there. Definitely football weather!

Regarding flying...just this past May when I flew to TX for my granddaughters wedding, a really nice agent took me out of the line and past the metal detector and waited with me until my backpack came through. I didn't have to take anything off.   This was in Baltimore/Washington airport. And the same thing happened in Dallas airport on the way home. I must look harmless.

I'll be off to greet my public at Wally World today. Wish me an express register. The belt registers wear me out.

Make today a good day!

Good Morning Allllllll......  Friday 2 weeks ago I drove to CO and came home Monday after, LAST Friday I drove to MO for a class reunion-luncheon and drove back down to the Lake for the night, got to Mass at 9:00 and kept driving back to KS after.  Should have stayed longer both places but still have one more "week end" to go & am going to pass up this next trip.... maybe.  It is my mother's youngest cousin's 100th birthday party.  I still sitting on the fence but know this old body is tired.  I love to drive so ~

Jenny, hope your package finally got there but will tell you that when Cas & I were watching out the window at near dark & his packages were "out for delivery".... the truck stopped 2 houses west of ours & I jokingly said, "there are your packages".  Because the drivers immediately note "Delivered" when they get back in the truck, I looked & ours had been delivered.  I walked down & knocked on their door to tell them I'd like to see if they found the packages.... they said they never used their front door but drove into their garage & came in that way.  Cas' packages were tucked under their Welcome mat!  I would never have guessed if we hadn't seen the truck stop.  Hope yours wasn't miss-delivered.

I one time got a special delivery of what looked like the timed paperwork we had gotten during one of our moves so I tried every way possible to contact the delivery people, think it was Fed Ex that time.... and finally drove the envelope around to the next street where the rightful owners lived.  Another time I refused to deliver a package because the name did not belong to the house (home owners list) and insisted the delivery people pick up the package as I didn't want to be responsible for it when I couldn't reach the owners by phone.  Good luck with yours!

Amy, you drive more than I do..... how far is it to "the city"?

I'm not sure I caught up with all the posts, always try to make sure everyone is okay before saying anything, but I'm still not organized from hauling stuff back in after the drives.  My Fitbit crashed last Friday so I called about getting it fixed & they sent a new one.  I was so lost all week end my first priority yesterday was calling for Fitbit help on whether I needed to uninstall the old or what.... NO directions in the box.  Nice man from South America walked me through the whole process and I complimented him on his good English.  I knew my watch battery was probably dead since I'd had the Fitbit for a year & it kept perfect time.  So I thought I would use my cell phone for time, like the kids do.

I set the time on the RV microwave clock by the phone & when I got to my reunion early.... VERY early, I compared time with the waitress & manager was checking on his schedule to make sure since they had 3 different groups that day.  My phone was an hour off.... They tried to tell me I came from another time zone & I insisted I lived in the same one.... so waitress suggested I turn off the phone & back on.  Correct time.... since I had just turned it on when I left the house on Friday, no excuse for it to still be CO time zone ..... but these little gadgets love to drive us nuts, don't they?  They really had double booked one room so we were put in a "public" room & kept taking over more tables as we needed.  No problem & they treated us very nice, had a great time.  Cats & RV did fine, no problems at all, except for the time one & that was just confusion.

My tale for the day, sorry it's so long.  Looks like all are doing well this week, my first stop when ever I am gone.  We have thunder & lightning so better check on a missing cat.

Jane, I had that fog the morning I left the Lake to come home.  Was dense & the trees were covered with web worms so looked like early Halloween with trees sparkling through the fog.

I'll try the link after this gets posted, Lloyd.  Thanks!

Shirley

Lloyd, the bag said jasmine rice & Google shows a bag that looks similar... CALIFORNIA WHITE JASMINE RICE | Lundberg Family Farms  .... but I'm thinking the rice would be more expensive than buying new bananas.  Wonder if the treatment would affect the rice?

Shirley
Thanks you are faster than I am I cant see that fast think or rember any more. Let us know how your test comes out. Nancy said she just Makes Banana bread out of them when like that, and that is good. comes in the category of see food and eat it yummy'

Good morning, Janie.  I do hope you get an express register.

Shirley--Good morning.  You sure are "on the go".

Good morning, Lloyd.  After looking at your link, I think the same as Shirley.

I have been watching the weather on TV since about 3 a.m.  I am REALLY scared.  All the weather models they use show the storm heading to Melbourne.

Good morning everyone, for a change I am awake before 9. Not complaining, I sure am catching up on the nights I was lucky to get 4 hours. Once again the media is at it about clowns scaring kids at bus stops. Now they will pop up all over the place. Reporter said some even carried guns. Do we need more foolish jerks out there to hear that and do it themselves.

PATRICIA  I never herd of pickled grapes but my daughter has stuffed grapes and said they were yummy. I still want the fruit I eat to taste like the fruit.

JOAN  I did make it here yesterday, just later than usual. With Matthew still looking like it will hit Florida, I hope you have set up what you will do to ride it out. I worry about you being there alone especially if power goes out. Still do not know if it will hit here but if it does it will be Sunday.

JUNE  hope you had your laid back day yesterday.

AMY  glad getting your van fixed did not break the bank for you.

JOAN  glad you did see I was here. I don't think I have missed many days here except when I had no working computer.  Kangaroo made me laugh. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  safe travel today.

JANE  you are harmless and the agents at the airports knew it. Hope you get that express lane and no one has too many items.

LLOYD  wonder if that over ripe banana really works.

SHIRLEY  being tired and driving are not good companions.  I was waiting for a delivery several years ago and it was way over cue. Called the company and they checked it out. The package was delivered on the wrong street but the right house number. I could even see the house where it was delivered, The people there even opened the package and UPS picked it up there and brought it to me. I was almost ready to go to that house and chew them out for opening it up. It would have taken them less than 5 minutes to take it to where I lived.

JOAN  like you I am scared for you and anyone in the path of that storm. Is there any place you can go to ride out the storm so you are not alone?

Its whats inside the banana skin that counts, we dont eat the skin,...That banana still looked very fresh inside, even if the skin didn't...I kindof find that rather baffling...Did the rice and hairdryer restore the inside too? if not, then  why go through all that trouble? just peel and eat... ???

Shirley and Gloria, I've had two instances recently where packages were delivered to the wrong addresses.  The first went to a neighbor two doors down and she was expecting a package, so opened it.  Then she thought it belonged to me so brought it to me.  When I looked at the name, it wasn't even for me.  The number was across the pond and I called the people who picked it up immediately.

The second one was across our main road from me and they, too, were expecting a delivery so opened it.  The package was for Tom.  I think both packages were delivered by UPS.

I'm going to get new hearing aids this afternoon.  My old ones were over three years old so I thought it was time to check my hearing.  I can hear the sounds OK but they're garbled and I don't always understand what a person is saying.  Women and children with high voices are particularly bad and I guess that is normal.

I hope Matthew stays out of everyone's back and front yards.

Hi everyone on this Tuesday morning here in the South.  The only thing on the calendar for today was to take Pat for an appointment to get her hair cut.  However, she is going to have to cancel it as she has a new very painful problem with her neck that appeared yesterday morning.  So now she is putting ice on her back and using another ice bag on her neck.

Jeanne, there is no flour in the Sausage Muffin Recipe I make.  Pat is trying to stay away from food items with flour or sugar as an ingredient.

June, I am pretty convinced you can find instructions on how to do about anything on the Internet.  Glad your fried egg turned out well for you.

Joan, I just looked at the weather forecast and see why you are concerned.  It looks like South Carolina could be hit as well but where I live is probably on the Westerly edge so don't expect anything major here, perhaps some rain.

Interesting postings but decided to keep my comments fairly brief today.  About everything I would have said has already been said by someone else.

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  Delivering packages and mail to the wrong address seems to happen fairly often here.  I don't attempt to deliver it to the proper address.  I call the delivering entity and ask them to pick it up and deliver it properly.  It's just about impossible for me to go someplace for a storm.  I can fill my portable oxygen canister, but that only lasts 3-4 hours.  Then I have the nebulizer which I must use 7 times a day.  And lastly, I have to sleep in a hospital bed.

Vanilla-Jackie--I thought the same as you.

Good morning, Mary Ann.  Apparently delivering things to the wrong address happens fairly often.

Larry--Good morning.  I am so sorry Pat is now have awful neck pain.  Hopefully Matthew will bypass you.

Good Morning Everyone!

We have the old Gulf scud hanging around this morning.  Hopefully it will burn off around 11 and we will get on with a sunshiny day.

Joanie, I hope you have made plans to get out of there if that hurricane comes calling.  No sense in taking a chance, especially as slow moving as that thing is.  It is going to do a lot damage with having heavy winds blowing for so long a time.
Do you have friends you can go stay with?  I hope so.

Janie, good things happen to good people.  And you are definitely a good person.

Well my Daughter and husband are off to Europe today to do their cruises.  First one starts in Spain and the second one is across the Atlantic to Florida and then flying into San Antonio.  They will be gone almost a whole month.  I have no desire to do the Atlantic crossing.  Done that twice, compliments of Uncle Sam.  And I found out, on a troop ship, that just looking at water and playing cards for seven days is not my cup of tea.  My second crossing was a hum dinger, storms all the way to New York from England.  My wife was sea sick the whole seven days.

Got some stuff to do, talk to you later.  Coffee is on if anyone wants a cup, help yourself.

Joy

Good morning, Joan and all the friends.

I am getting here a little late.  I was up early to take some medicine and I went back to sleep for a couple hours.

Nothing special going on today.  It is a sunny morning, but not sure how long it will last.  Showers are supposed to be coming in later.

Yesterday was a beautiful day. In the mid-70's. There were a few people here who I sat outside with for almost 3 hours.  It was such a nice day and I figured that there wouldn't be many of them left.   Not sure if I will make it out today.

Joan, I hope you won't be affected too bad with the storm. I have been watching the track of it, as my grand daughter lives near Myrtle Beach.  Different reports having it come different ways. So, hopefully, people along the south east coast won't get hit too hard.   Our area here in Maryland, probably will feel some of the winds and probably have rain by the week end.

Hope anyone in the path of the storm will be safe.

Have a good afternoon.

been years now since I set the alarm off at the Airport.  It happened twice. Searched but nothing. Never did figure what caused it.
Now they say that they are not allowed to ask a women if she had the Birth Control coil inserted. ( I didn't) but they do say that they would set the alarms off.

Good Morning dear Hearts !

Had a full nights sleep and feeling perky and sassy today, so beware of an almost 92 year old broad roaming around the place. (I'll probably fade out in another couple of hours).

Jenny, isn't this a bit early for your first snow fall? I envy you the change in seasons, and now when I don't have to go out in the weather I could enjoy a nice snowfall from inside my cozy nest here at Rowntree. Unfortunately So, Ca. weather is much the same 12 months of the year. Nothing to get our blood up and stirring.

Bis, a banana muffin or two would suit me fine. I like banana everything. And whoever coined the words "dumb animals" sure was stupid…that Kangaroo proves it.

Janie, maybe those detector fellows did think you looked innocent, or maybe they looked at this gal that works a cash register at walmart would give the a really hard time. One way or the other, good for you girl.

Tisie, I say keep doing what your doing as long as you can. The day comes, much too soon where your mind and heart wants to keep speeding along, then all of a sudden the years have added up and the body says, STOP….and act your age. I have reached that point in life when the body rebels and we have to obey. Thank God the mind can still have fun with words.

OOps I have got to get outta here…I'm due to a meeting in half an hour, and not dressed yet…..byeeeee……
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Morning,

Joan, I surely do hope the hurricane turns away from your area.
I'm so glad #2 son/dil did not plan to go with their friends on the annual October scuba diving trip.  It was to have been to Jamaica.  Son said the resort called and told them not to come.  They have six months to reschedule the trip without any more cost.  I doubt that son/dil will go then because they don't like the resort destination.  (Picky, picky ?  ;))

Shirley, you amaze me with your long drives.  We did the drive from Leadville to Warrensburg MO every summer for 3 years while husband did graduate work.  By the time we drove across half of CO and the length of Kansas,  I couldn't walk straight when I got out of the car!!

Hal,  I'm always glad to learn about people who have been to Europe and back without an Incident.  Good to know that life is going on as usual in most places.

I've been out and around the town on errands this morning.  Atmosphere feels like a "weather maker" and the clouds are scudding across the sky in layers - sometimes going in opposite directions.  The weather gurus are already warning people to "be alert" later today/tomorrow.  (That phrase always reminds me of the saying,  "Be alert. The world needs more Lerts   ;D )

If today isn't C.B.'ers Day, it should be.

:crazy2:

Oops, so busy being sassy I forgot to mention something to MaryAnn.
My hearing aids are also 3 years old and I was having problems hearing high-pitched voices, garbled words - and literally physical pain with loud noise.  After my audiologist retested my hearing, we talked about it  - and she connected the aids to her computer, did some magic - and reset them.   All is now well.
If you'll be as specific as possible about the problems you're having, maybe your aids can be adjusted, too.
Good luck.

JoanFL

halkel--I am prepared--hurricane center on TV lists things one should do--the Governor has put the whole state on  Emergency Evacuation with my county being at the top of the list.  My son who lives in Alabama called and if things still look bad tomorrow morning, he's going to head this way.

Joy--It looks like we can't avoid this one.

JeanneP--I only set the alarm off one time at the airport, and it was my earrings.

Callie--I don't think we can avoid this storm, but we can hope.
