Good Morning Everyone!

Well I am up and fixing to go get myself cleaned up so I can get myself to bible class and breakfast with my group.

Not cold at all here, matter of fact I got up during the night and turn the ceiling fan on, it got a little warm in the bedroom.

Not much on tap here today except the bible study, I got my paper work done yesterday that needed to be done.  Checked my calendar last night and I have only three appointments so far this month.  But I need to make another one with my urologist and get an ultrasound on my kidney.
But honestly sometimes I wonder if it is worth the hassle,

Anyhow guess I had better get a move on and get myself presentable.  Everyone have a great day.  Janie, hope you get all the good humor folks in you line today.

JaneS

T
Good morning Everyfriend!  The things that are on my mind right now have nothing to do with what's happening with my body.  My mother told someone once "Margie (my sister) is such a worry-wart she wears herself down but sometimes I wish some of it would wear off on Jane!".  I'm more of a "what will be will be" person.  Unless I'm  sure there is something more I can do to make changes.  I keep trying when I believe that.

It's raining again and supposed to keep that up all day.  I dont go to the Dr until mid-afternoon.  Have a lovely day filled with answered wishes!

Good morning,  Lloyd, Amy,  and all the other friends who follow.

It is an early morning for me. I have an appointment today at 12:30, so I needed to get myself moving earlier today.  It just takes me so long to get myself together in the morning.  My daughter-in-law will pick me up about noon.

I need to try to do something with my hair to make it, at least,  a little bit more presentable.  I have a difficult time getting it up in rollers, but I need to try.

Hal, glad that your cataract surgery went well.

Amy,  so nice that you will be able to deliver a quilt to another friend.  I don't know how you can get them done so quick.  I still have 2 that are about half-way finished.  Not sure if I will ever get back to them. Just don't have the desire to sew anymore.  And, I used to love to sew.

Larry, I am sure you and Pat will miss her sister when she leaves today.  Sounds like it was a nice  visit.   Hope your grand daughter and your son will have a good trip back home.

Jane, sure hope that you will get good news about your finger.   Glad that Marilyn  could help put your mind to east a little bit.  I am sure that you would prefer to be busy at work.  Makes the time go a lot faster.  Hope today is a better one for you.

June, I so admire you for your attitude.  You just seem to look at everything with such a positive outlook.  We  can all take a lesson from you.  You are a special lady.

Gloria,  Glad that the lady spoke up to your manager.  Maybe, just maybe, it might have had some impact on the manager's view of things at your place.  I know it doesn't make for a very happy place when everyone is so disturbed by her attitude.

I have had my breakfast, so I need to get off of her and work on my hair.

Have everyone will have a wonderful day.

Good morning everyone. Landscapers are here with their noise. what a way to wake up. Good in a way, ny son will be picking me uplater to do some errands. Still parts of the state with now power, all i the ational Grid. In this area we have our own power company and are sually fast to restore power.

LARRY  the witch did not come to work yesterday. It was a peaceful day.

JOAN  so good seeing you every morning.

MARY ANN  Narragansett is on the bay. The wind and rain comes up the channel and hits it there full force.

JUNE  if the witch was the owner of this building we might feel different but she is only the manager.

Have to get going or will not be ready when my son gets here

Hi Everyone.  Another beautiful fall day here in South Carolina.  The main activity for today will be taking Mary to the airport.  It is about a 30 minute easy drive and the airport is small.  I can park in the handicapped area at the curb and we will see she has wheelchair assistance.  The two hour in advance of the flight really seems extreme for this airport but that is what is indicated is needed.  Her flight is at 1:10 and she has a relatively short layover in Atlanta and a plane change and will get to Kansas City around 5:30.  She has arranged for a limo service to pick her up to get her back to her apartment.

Amy, never had a hug from my pharmacist but one of them does know me by name at Walmart since I have picked up so much medicine.  I didn't think of the ripper although you had used that term of Jack the ripper only a couple of days ago.  She never really complained about ripping out some seams if they didn't suit her.

Mary Ann, I agree that these nine days of Pat's sisters visit have gone by quickly.  We really haven't done anything other than to eat out once or twice and she and Pat went to Walmart and Dollar General and Mary went to Church with me on Sunday.  However, she and Pat have played many games of Farkle and Shanghai Rummy.  We have had some good meals thanks to the prepared and frozen foods at Costco. Her two children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren do anchor her to Missouri.  She helps out at the great grandchildrens school, which is a small school in a small town close to Independence.  The last few years she has baked gingerbread houses and taken them to the school and all of the students are able to put together their own.  She has only missed one or two practices and games the children have been involved with.

Callie, does your son's team have to beat your to prevent you from posting that picture?  It sounds like your family has a lot of fun around the annual game.  Glad Miss Ellen is safe and sound.  That type of attack can occur anywhere in America or the world and is.  However, we cannot live our lives in fear. I think that first cadaver experience for the students would be pretty tough.  Is she studying to be a doctor?  You have probably said in the past but obviously I have forgotten. Interesting how a fire could occur in a closet.  Glad Carson didn't have much damage or was any closer than he was.

Joan, I hope you had a nice day yesterday also.  This is sure a nice time of the year here in the South with us actually enjoying some fall weather.

June, God blessed you with good and reliable sons to help you out now.  I did that day to day cost analysis a few years ago and for us it just wasn't the right time to consider moving to an independent living place so we could have meals provided.  I drink one of the nutritional drinks every morning with my breakfast.  I don't think it gives me more energy but hopefully helps supply things that might be missing in my diet.  Our meals are no longer as balanced as Pat used to see they would be as she just can't spend a lot of time in the kitchen as the pain price is too high.

Jane, I sure hope you would be able to get an appointment with a specialist in a week.  Around here it generally doesn't happen that quickly. Pat had a trigger finger situation and they were able to deal with it with a shot and it hasn't bothered her since.

Hal, I always try to keep in mind with medical procedures that if others can do it so can I and worry very little about them.  I just deal with them when the day arrives. Pat just asked me to turn the AC on and I had to set it down to 71 to get it to cycle.  I would get my gloves out but that makes it extremely difficult to type.  The doctor appointment cycle does seem endless.

Lloyd, I hope your second try last night brought some good rest.

Amy, I think it was Erma Bombeck that said she left her vacuum cleaner out so if she had unexpected company she could just say she was in the process of cleaning up.

Joy, hope your appointment goes well today.  Pat struggles with her hair in getting it set.  I have suggested that she just wear it in a style without curl but that has not been a pleasing suggestion.  We have had a nice visit with Pat's sister and the weather here has been beautiful.

Gloria, sure glad you are not in the parts of the State still without power.  Those hours seem to go by so slowly.  Hope you have a good outing today.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the cool, cloudy
and sometimes rainy rocky coast of Maine!!

The seasons are right around the corner,
and I must admit that I will  be glad when
they are behind us.   That will take us into
to the deep,  darker, snowier,  frozen Winter
Months....   And before we know it,
Spring will be right around the corner.
(Wishful thinking) !!
:idiot2:

Larry,  does that mean that your grand daughter
will be staying in Kansas from now on?    I bet
that you will miss her.

All is well here ....  have a great day,  EVERYONE!

Good Thursday morning Everyfrriend.  The temp has inched up as the week goes on - so I hear on the news.  Kate is away on business, and I expect Joe and Finlay will come to visit after Joe picks Finlay up from school.  I hope you ALL can make this a good day.

Good Morning,

The dreaded yellow warning sign appeared on my browser icon just as I was ready to post and I lost it (the post - not my temper, although it was tempting!).  Happening way too often these days and seems to be Cox related - not the browser.   :tickedoff:
Hope I can remember what I said!!

Strong odor of skunk when I went out to get the paper this morning.  I "sniffed" out the back door and it wasn't as strong there.  Hope it wasn't startled when I opened the garage door.  I did check around inside before I shut it.

Larry,  Emily wants to be a Chiropractor.  She is in the first trimester of working toward a Doctorate in that field.

The reason for the frat house fire is known but, of course,  can't be mentioned in today's p.c. world unless legal action is made public.

Yes, my family does have fun with the football rivalry.  Amazing how strongly a lot of people feel about each school.  More than a few friends were surprised that we didn't insist #1 son go to OU.  However, we felt (and I still feel) that there's more to a college than the football team - and OSU was the right place for him.
I'm also an OSU fan for every other game they play - and hope they do well in this one.....but not too much.   ;D

Amy,  I always grin when I read about Jack and the others you mention.   I remember Erma Bombeck's comment about her vacuum cleaner;  may have been guilty of using a dust rag for the same purpose.   :-[
My doorbell usually rings when I've decided to stay in my gown and robe....like today.

Gloria,  seems as if some of the residents should contact whoever supervises the manager.  She may be required to set limits, etc. but that's no excuse for being rude and bossy.
Ellen said her area of New York City only had heavy rain.  Fortunately, she doesn't have to be outside long before boarding the subway to/from work.

Sandy,  as the saying goes,  "From your mouth (writing) to God's ears..."  regarding spring being around the corner.  I consider November - March to be "survival" months.

I hope everyone's medical appointments go well.   I've had and have some "maintenance" ones - trying to get them in before the end of the year but, so far, nothing has needed attention.

I've put some round steak coated with brown gravy mix, onions, canned mushrooms and beef broth in the slow cooker.  Not sure it will be done in time for dinner tonight but should be some good eating in the next week or so.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

June Drabek

I am late coming in today…sorry about that folks. Hal I hope you enjoyed your Bible Class as much as I enjoyed my son yesterday

Janie, I think my attitude is more like yours. If I am facing a situation….and who doesn't….I may start fussing about it, but then I realize if there is something I can actually DO about it…do it…if I cannot change things, I just put them in God's Hands to care for.  It probably took  a life time for this to sink into my brain, but we are simple, ordinary, helpless human beings. If we know we can change things…we should, but if we don't have the knowledge or ability to DO something, there is a greater power that CAN. So we hand it over to Him and try to follow through on His guidance.

Joy, it took many years and many mistakes to positively know that God will do what I cannot do. There is great release in "letting go, and letting God." It is not me, dear Joy, it's the ONE who created me.

Gloria, that is the point I have been trying to make…Your witchy landlady is only an employee. She does not own that place, and if the people that do own it knew what she was doing…..she would be out of a job.
I think the problem is that there are not many places available in your small area. In Ca. there is more need for care facilities so a woman like your landlady would be out on her ear is a hurry.

Larry, I am glad to read you had done a cost analysis so you have that knowledge if and when the time comes that you need it. My doctor had recommended the nutritional drink so my Gary keep my pantry well supplied. Also it is very important that we older folks remember to drink a lot of water each day..it may require more trips to the bathroom, but it is cleansing in more ways than we realize.

Sandy if that Grandbaby of yours gets any cuter, we will all want a piece of her. She looks so well loved and content. Congratulations to her parents.

Bis, I am so VERY happy that you are so close to Joe and the others now. Do you have any idea when and if they will release you to your home ?

It is after seven o'clock and I have yet to eat some supper. Had a big lunch so not hungry, but must feed the beast anyway, so it will sleep well tonight.

I love you all….a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck. June

Well time stands still for no one and here it is bedtime again and my eyes tell me of that fact.

June we had quite a discussion this morning about a fig tree and God's putting a curse on it.  In the book of Mark

It has really been a nasty day, foggy and yucky, not rain, not drizzle just kinda hung in the air and made things wet,  And they say more tomorrow.  One thing it is plenty warm.

Any old how, nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

JaneS

OK, I don't know how many of you are awake enough to red this now but here's the finger report.  It is the finger that's causing the pain up my arm and he did refer me to the orthopedic Dr at the Sports Med Complex (also part of Geisinger Medical Center)  which is the clinic I go to.  HE SAID THAT SOMEONE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH ME IN A WEEK TO 10 DAYS TO SET UP the appt.  Sorry I hit caps lock by mistake.

I made some soup with leftover chicken and some chicken stock I had in the freezer.  Just kept throwing stuff in the crockpot and it's awesome!  I call it "Cupboard Surprise"!

Now, I'm off to bed.  Good night everyfriend.  Sleep peacefully and may God bless us, every one

Good morning everyone..

Have a lady coming to pick up a quilt this morning. ,that is all that 's planned for the day. So mild this morning than I didn't build on a fire, looks as though we had rain during the night but weather dogs came in and no rain on them this morning.

Jane, I hope the appointment is soon for you and you get get your finger fixed in no time. Your soup sounds delicious, I am going to pick up some chicken legs today, they are on sale for $1.00 a lb.

Joan, there is nothing worse than a night of no or little sleep. Hope you can  get some sleep now.

Callie, bet your house smelled great with the steak cooking.

Joy, this is a group effort on the quilts. We make the tops ,send them in and someone quilts them . We also can get kits all cut and you only have to sew them together. I get scraps, leftovers from quilts and odd bits of fabric and I make scrappy quilts from them. Just started one for kids at camp. Reminds me of Clifford the dog, found a photo on pintrest of a dogs head....will see how I make out with this .

Gloria, all I can say is I hope when your "witch" gets to be in a facility like your she is met with her match!! I have some apples that I need to deal with today, maybe an apple crisp for dessert for supper tonight??

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, have an appointment with the dentist this afternoon. One tooth on top ao the gack has ben bothering me since I had my teeth cleaned a few weeks ago. Started aching so called for an appointment. Rather have it taken out now before it gets worse.

LARRY  where I went for my prescriptions the pharmacist knew all his customers by name. He reminded me of the old neighborhood drugstores. After moving here my son would pick them up for me and he always asked him how I was doing. I finally transfewrred them here to CVS mainly because they delivered. I never liked that store but thought it would be one less thing my son did for me. Well about a month ago I changed again to White Cross and they deliver, too. Much better, all meds are in envelopes labled for day and time of day. They are all in one connected roll and in a box that I pull the envelope ourt as needed. No more not having 1 or 2 pills short every time. I know how Pat must be in the kitchen now. I know I am not eating right because it is too hard to cook anything. I did enjoy yesterday with my ldest son. We ehded up at Ye Olde English fish & chips. They are only oen on Thursday and Friday-Wednesday during lent. It was so good. Best around this state.

CALLIE  several here have contacted lawyers about the harassment. I cannot afford a lawyer.

JUNE  this witch knows how to save the company money-that they like-but she does not relate with senior people.

JANE  hope the appointment comes soon. Like your meal, one of those that great and you could never make like that again.

JOAN  like you I did nor sleep good last night. I was worn out from my day out yesterday and to think I have to go out again today I don't like.

LLOYD  add me to the not sleeping last night.

AMY  I have made a apple crisp and applesauce but I would love to make a pie, alas I cannot roll out the pie crust any more. None of my helpers can make pie crust and I do not like the taste of those rolled up ones from the markets.

Hi Everyone.
Another very pretty day and it is going to hot this afternoon getting into the low 80's.  My sister-in-law is safely back in her apartment in Missouri.  She had a long day yesterday but said she had a good flight and the ground transportation was waiting for her when she got to the Kansas City Airport.  We enjoyed her visit and the time went quickly.  Hopefully she will be up to visiting us again next year.  However, her health is not good. Today's big event is the housekeeper will be here shortly. We might go out to lunch and then stop at the company that supplies our CPAP machines for some new supplies.

Sandy, our granddaughter will be coming back with her father on Sunday afternoon and Monday to live with her father here in North Augusta.  Our great granddaughter's situation has not changed and she will remain with her father in New York.  What the future holds no one knows. Glad that all is well with you.

Lloyd, hope your scraping went well yesterday and you had some good sleep last night.  Sorry the VA doctor wasn't a help with the headaches.

Joan, I bet it is a highlight of your day to see Joe and Findlay come through your doorway. I hope you can get some extra sleep today.

Callie, I haven't smelled a skunk around here for a long time.  Thanks for the info on Emily.

June, I was a bit upset when my Cardiologist asked me to drink only a limited amount of water each day as I have always drank a lot of water.  I do not measure and expect I may exceed the 64 ounces a day she recommended but so be it.  I feel safe in saying that we all love you as well.

Jane, it sounds like you are well on your way to eliminating the pain when you get the finger taken care of.

Gloria, hope the dental appointment goes well. I never heard of prescriptions being dispensed in envelopes.

JaneS

I'm home from work, had lunch, made some phone calls and now I'm ready to relax.

They called me from the orthopedic center at Geisinger and they have an orthopedist who comes to my clinic in town 2 times a month.  I have an appointment a week from this coming Monday and I don't have to go out of my way to get there.  Things are moving right along.

Next on my agenda is gathering the ingredients for the Christmas candies and cakes I have to make.  I'm making a trip to the Amish store first because they have a lot of the stuff I need.  First will be the fruit cake.  I don't want my mother angry with me for not getting it made.  Then I'll mix the stuff to make pb cups and coconut cups.  Lots to do to get ready for Santa!

Mary Ann

Good afternoon everyone.

I had the AT&T tech here all morning replacing most of my equipment.  He replaced the wifi, modem and two wireless receivers and I now have a beautiful picture on my TV's.  He thinks he found the reason for a chronic problem I have had for a long time, picture dropping out on programs, it seems some years back when they put in a separate wifi they failed to turn off the wifi in the modem, he found this when he went to replace the separate wifi and the tv's in the den and bedroom were still working when they should have stopped.  So he solved it by replacing the modem and wifi.

Janie, happy that you got a quick appointment for your hand.  And hope you get it taken care of just as quick.  Now about all those goodies for Christmas, if you need someone to check them out as you bake just let me know... ;)

Larry, we have a skunk that pays us a visit every now and then and when you open the back door you get a whiff of him/her.  It and my dog tangled a year or so back and of course the skunk won.  Sprayed her good.

Well got some bills in the mail, might as well pay them.

June Drabek

Not much happening here today, they had several good programs offered, but I just couldn't work up the interest or energy. Today was housekeepers day so all is slicked up and shiny.

Mostly cloudy again today, high of 70. I had a big lunch downstairs and brought enough home for supper. Did a lot of reading and a bit of napping. Had a sweet phone call from my Dori, and an email from Gary, saying he had reviewed the business mail I sent him and all is well...no changes necessary. I feel so Blessed. God has given me a wonderful family. Dan and Nancy will be out next week..a short visit, but that is about all my body is ready for anyway. I don't want them to find a tired , almost 93 year old. Dan is going to do some work on my computers, and Nancy will have her lap top and tiniest little pup with her. They are having the other five pups being baby-sat by a good dog-sitter while they are away.

Janie, I pray the finger will be a simple fix...with no major surgery involved. With all the goodies you make for Christmas, you need good working hands. I have such a strong feeling that your finger ailment is definitely tied into a cash register.

Hal, you sure have a bunch of electronic equipment in your home..three rooms of wifi and t.v. ?????

Larry, I have always been a heavy water drinker too, and when the doctor limited me to five cups a day, I didn't think I could do that, but it was a serious problem. I was losing too much salt in my urine, and it had reached a danger point. So she put me on four salt tablets too. Now I take just two salt tablets a day but can have more liquids, and my blood tests show it has worked out fine.

Bis, are the nurses aware of you sleeplessness ? I think it is downright cruel that they allow your body to have two restless nights now. Your body still needs healing and it cannot heal without a proper amount of real sleep. I would voice my complaints loud and clear, sweetie. It is the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

Hal, I get the feeling that the demise of the Fig tree, is a lesson of having Faith. If we live our lives doing nothing, not having the Faith to even try to "bear fruit" there is no reason for our existence. Our "roots" must attempt to sink lower in the Belief in order for us to bear good fruit of one kind or another. And God is the "soil" that helps us do that. What think you ?

I'm going to trot down and check my mail box and take a walk before I come home and heat up some supper. Keep well and happy my beloved friends. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jane:  Best wishes on your hand situation and have a quick recovery.  Don had hand surgery at the VA years ago and it helped so much!

Our youngest son is coming for one night Sunday - he will then drive to Phoenix for a meeting on Monday.  Next weekend, we will be dog sitting a very easy little dog in the Phoenix area.  Otherwise, I am working on another quilt and now have it ready to put the top together.

5:25 PM and it is getting dark. No Daylight Saving Time here.

halkel

June, I read that passage to the rest of the class and stated I couldn't believe Jesus would be so cruel. He knew fig tress and when they bore fruit and when they didn't.  We read some commentary and found that the particular type referred to was known to have leaves early and then fruit.  But I see your point.  This particular incident if referred to in several books of th bible, one it withers immediately and in another it takes a few days.
One of group said he just considers it on of the mysteries of the bible.

I intend to do some more research on the subject.

At any rate, I am off to bed and hopefully a good nights sleep.

Nine, nite, God bless and Sweet dreams.

It is going to be another warm 80's day here today with little chance of rain.  I plan on staying home today and just taking the day slow and easy.  I have some things to do here at my desk, including getting the Devotional ready for my Sunday School class in the morning.  Yesterday we did go to a new place for me called Antonio's Restaurant and we had baked spaghetti, although the only think baked was the cheese on top that had apparently been put under the broiler for a minute or two to melt it.  It was pretty good but will not order it again.  We had stopped at the business that supplies our CPAP needs and Pat and I both got what we needed.

Jane, glad to learn that you won't have to travel far to see the orthopedist.  The making of the Christmas goodies seems to come around very quickly.  I don't think Pat ever made a fruit cake.

Hal, it sounds like you got a tech who knew what he was doing.  I hope that your TV and internet problems are now a thing of the past.  I used to accumulate bills and pay them all at one time.  However, for quite awhile I just pay them as they are received and don't have to worry about forgetting to pay them or losing them.

June, our housekeepers come on the same day as ours was here yesterday and our house is again nice and clean.  Glad that Gary could take care of your business papers. I sure hope I never have to take salt tablets although I guess that would be quite different than having food be so salty, which I do not like.

Lloyd, I didn't realize that anyone used the small bailers anymore.  Do the bails have to be manually pick up and stored in a barn?

Amy, glad you treated yourself by sleeping in this morning.  I bet you will get done what has to be done today and the rest can wait until another day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Bad night last night, old breath just would not give me a break.  I am tempted to go to emergency room and let them look at me.  I may call nurse and talk to her.  I stayed in recliner most of night but still got no relief.

Weather here is still not the best.  yucky most of the day and sun will peek out late afternoon and very warm.

Larry we got our HOA assessment yesterday and they went up 5 dollars.  If I even buy again rest assured I will not buy where they have an HOA  My wife was talking about we got no benefit from it and I told her, well, guess if we used the private park and pool we would get some benefit but we hadn;t been there for years.  My two neighbors across the street don't get along very well and one has written letters of complaint on the other to the HoA.  Cant understand that.  Fighting with neighbors is not on my agenda.
