Howdy everyone.

Janie, you certainly were a busy beaver today.  Hope you get a good night rest.

Don, looks like you have a busy winter coming up.  Beats working outdoors, doesn't it?

I also have been busy, I worked trying to balance my checkbook most of the day.  I hadn't done it for almost two months and it is a mess and now I have all the entries made my totals are way off.  Then of course when I went to print out my registers I had forgotten my printer was no longer functional since my router was changed out.  So I had to get it all back online and then found I was out of black ink.  Then of course I had to find my new black ink cartridge, which I just did, so will change it in the morning.

I am feeling much better, thankfully, since I only have on antibiotic left to take.  But I see doctor on Wednesday.

I looked at all the post, but as normal I cant remember if I was ask anything so I will just head on to bed.

I hope we all get a good nights rest.  I was in here about 3 AM this morning, but no one was around.  Just me and google and yahoo.  How they get signed in on here I have no idea.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet dreams.

Good morning everyone...

No new snow here and temp is staying around 29°. I managed to get a few things done yesterday. After picking up hubby's meds I washed windows, filled the wood box, brought more wood in for later and cleaned up the yard.....again! Washed my van too..someone took it on a muddy gravel road :) Not sure what is happening today other tan VON is to come.

Jane oh my you were busy yesterday, hope you can relax some today. I pray that the needle works and you won't have to have surgery on your finger.

Larry, we pick up the meds every other week because he takes so many the pharmacy puts them in blister packs.

Hal , glad to read you are feeling better.

Gloria, I copied your poem to keep on hand.Thank you for posting it.

Better scoot, take care ..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Tuesday morning Everyfriend.  The very first thing this morning the nurse accidentally knocked my iPad off the cabinet next to my bed, where it was on the charger.  It fell on the floor under my bed and broke into two pieces.  I could reach the Pad but not the keyboard.  Woe is me!!

Joan, a horrible start for the day.  The nurse or the company should buy you a new iPad.

The sun is trying to shine here today and I think it will be nice - for us - for the southerners, it would be cold.  As I've said so often, any day the sun shines, it is a nice day.

I'm not awake yet, so I'll be back later - maybe.

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie, that was a pretty expensive accident the nurse had with your IPad from how you described it.  Didn't see retrieve it from under the bed?
Hopefully no harm.

Amy you manage to stay busy.  What did you do while you were resting?  Must have been something to do.  ::)

No Janie this morning, maybe, hopefully, she slept in.

Overcast day here, not too cold, but cool enough that the heater is cycling on and off.

Back later

Good Morning everyone. I am going to give you all some info. that you can take it and a dollar and buy a cup of coffee almost any where. In Kansas city MO, we have what we call the plaza. they put Christmas lights on the buildings. the amount of lights stretched out straight would go for eighty miles. 51º and cloudy here with intermittent drizzle. Have a great day.

Mary Ann--sure wish this facility would take care of the iPad.

hallelujah--I could only reach the Pad but not the keyboard.

Janie--I wish you smiles.

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful sunny day that is starting out at 41 degrees but is suppose to get to 63 this afternoon.  The Podiatrist released me yesterday but requested I continue treating my toes as I have been the last 5 week until this weekend.  I did get the ink cartridges refilled at Costco yesterday.  It couldn't have been handier as the counter is right inside the store as you enter.  I put in the first one and it worked fine.  These are original HP cartridges so contain the chip to identify them as such.  They told me these can be refilled for up to 10 or more. It saves a few dollars that will add up over time.  Today my calendar is clear so will just take care of some small errands here at home and take it easy.  Since I started using the oxygen at night I seem to be feeling much better, at least I haven't gotten up tired as I often did in the past.  Of course it is still to soon to conclude that as a definite fact but am hopeful.

Gloria, I bet you liked the pie crusts made with lard to have a nice flaky crust.  That is what my mother and grandmother always used.  I read something the other day about perhaps lard isn't as bad for us as we have been led to believe.  I don't think the loss of the temperature reading at the bottom of your posting has anything to do with your computer as it is not appearing on any of the postings.  I am glad you do post daily as I look forward to it as well as all of the postings.  It is not the words but the fact that we post that keeps the interconnection as friends going and is important in my view.

Joan, it sounds like Finlay stays mighty busy and is an all around athlete. Is your iPad still usable? I am sure nurse felt very bad about knocking it off but accidents do happen.

Lloyd, I used to live only a few miles from the Plaza and have seen the Plaza Christmas lights several times over the years.  It is quite a sight.

June, it sounds like it is time to let someone else handle your laundry.  You need to save your energy for things you really enjoy.  I usually pretty much fill up on the salad bars at buffets if they have a good one.  Do you have to let the kitchen staff know in advance what you want as your main meal or do you order at the time you go to the dining room?  I have been drinking a nutrition drink and eating a nutrition bar every morning for quite awhile now.  I prefer the chocolate drink and don't care for the vanilla. I haven't tried the banana or caramel as the Walmart brand Equate only comes in two flavors.  I buy it because it is a couple of dollars less expensive than Boost for some of the other brands.  I am glad you are near to your son and his wife now.  I am also very glad we made the move here when we did as not sure we could have done it now although I guess we could have had the movers do the packing for us.  Where there is the will there is the way I have found out.

deAngel, I think we will soon be used to seeing the policeman in the lobby of our Church. I didn't even think about it during the service.  It sounds like Taffy gives you great pleasure.  It appears that Sears and KMarts are on their last legs.  I guess everything has a life cycle and they have been around for a long time.  I think most retail stores are feeling the pinch of online shopping.  Of course younger folks still enjoy shopping and touching the merchandise before buying.

Mary Ann, I looked yesterday and see that there are two more PGA golf tournaments the next two weeks and that appears to be the end until next year.  I guess the golfers get December off unless they play in another country or organization.

Carol, our washer takes almost two hours with the extra rinse cycle Pat always sets.  Yesterday I did a load of towels and got some setting wrong and they hadn't spun out the water so had to do an extra rinse cycle and then they were fine.  The drying now takes very little time as the moisture is pretty much removed in the high speed turning of the drum in the washer as it ends the wash and spin.

Jane, my wife had the shot in her finger and hasn't been bothered by it again and that was several years ago.  I hope your insurance will cover most of the cost so you don't have to undergo the surgery.  I hope you will enjoy the space heater. You sure had a busy couple of days.  I hope you can relax a bit today.

Don, you certainly have the voice to read Scripture and poetry.

Hal, I had to chuckle at your day of fixing your checkbook and your printer and then being out of ink.  I know it wasn't funny to you.  I now just keep a spreadsheet in a Google document to record all of my checks and deposits.  When I get a statement I just put a red "x" in the clearance column.  It seems to work for me so far.  We don't write many checks a month so isn't a big job.  However, I do have to record the online payments so that I will know what our balance is in the accounts.  Glad that you are feeling better.

Amy, thanks for the info on why you have to pick up the meds so often.  Do you like the blister packs?  I find them very annoying and a bit difficult to open.

Joan, I’m not familiar with iPads so I don’t know if being in two pieces is workable or not.  But I would think either the nurse or the facility would be responsible for a replacement. I would bet Joe could talk “turkey” to them.  Places ignore women.

Larry, both our Sears and K-Mart (at least the one near us) have disappeared.  We bought our washer and dryer from Sears earlier this year and it wasn’t long after that they closed the store.  There may be a K-Mart in other parts of town but not near here.

Larry, often the golfers do go to Europe for their tours and recently some of them played in Mexico; they play all over the world.  I guess unless they’re low in the standings, they can afford it because often the winner gets about 1 ½ million and others at the top don’t do too badly either.

I see the wind is kicking up at Grand Haven.  We were warned that by the end of the week, it would be very windy.  There are some whitecaps on the lake now.

Larry, I seldom write a check, I use credit cards.  About the only time I write one is for a workman who comes to the house to do some work.
But, my wife still writes checks, I have tried to point out to her that our credit cards get money back, not a lot, but every penny counts.  And checks cost quite a bit of money now days, our credit union doesn't furnish checks.
I found one error the bank made so now I have to contact them.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, another gray day here. this is the second day in a row I slept late, rather wake early but then there is nothing I have to do.

JOAN  Looks like Finlay is well rounded in sports.Wow isn't he young to be in a chess club? Joe and Kate have taught him well. They have given him many interests in life.

JUNE  yesterday with my CNA's help I made come chicken stock for soup. Have several containers in the freezer and enough in the fridge for soup later today. Of course I was so tired by the time I finished the sink is full of bowls and pans I used. Today's CNA will be washing them later. I was worn out when I finished and spent the evening laying on the couch watching TV. I make stuffed celery for Thanksbiving and Christmas. About the only thing I can do sitting down.

GLORIA de  wish I had the energy to another apple crisp. I sure have enough apples for it. It has been several years since Kmart closed here and I miss it. I think there is one Sears left.

MARY ANN  I travel our country by way of the computer. Only way I will see it.

CAROL  the building I now live in has no basement and some on the ground floor complain about the floors being cold, especially the ones they install the wood floor in. I have wood floors but it is warmed by the apartment under me.

JANE  not much worse than no sound from the computer.

DON  with your voice wish we could hear your reading.

HAL  glad you are feeling a bit better.

AMY  now who would dare drive your van on a muddy road?? Glad you enjoyed that poem.

JOAN  was that the same nurse that gave you an cold water bath in bed? Will she be responsible for replacing what she broke?

LLOYD  there used to be a place in town with some hube pines on both corners. They used to have a manger and light set up there for Chriatmas but no more. The pines were taken down, one corner now has a post office and across the street is a health clinic. Both building needed but now there is no decorations there.

LARRY  I grew up with my Mom's piecrust and it was made with lard. First time I decided to make a pie the only recipe I had was on a bottle of Mazzola oil and that is how I always made it, flaky but not as tasty as the lard ones. I have read that about lard not being so bad after all.

Maybe I can finally get this finished. Between the phone and CNA  I started this a little after 10 this morning.

HAL  banks make errors? Naw they never do. When a bank we used many years ago started using computer for records we got a statement with a balance of $250,000. At least my ex never tried to draw any of that out. I did call the bank and they did thank me for reporting the error.

Still morning here in So. CA. we are told it will be a high of 76 degrees today. That's just fine with me. No plans for today un less I am awake at 2:45 this afternoon, and feel like going down for balance and mobility class.

Carol, I enquired some weeks back about having laundry done. It costs 50 dollars a month, and I have seen they do a good job. My linens are done by the laundry here…it is part of my rental, as is the change of sheets once a week. I think making my bed daily (twin size) is good exercise for me. I am a stubborn old lady, and not ready to give up doing my own laundry. It does wear me out, but I can recuperate in leisure, and I only launder about twice a month, so I stick with it. What I cannot do, I will have done, but I don't want to give up. Space heaters are great if needed. Not too large to transport. You are wise to have one if needed.

Janie, you have every right to feel exhausted with all the good things you do for others, plus your sweet pooches. Compared to what I did in my younger years, I am a #1 slouch now.

Hal, I remember in days past that Bis said she never balanced her check book. She trusted the bank to be correct. I am doing the same now. Gary is on my bank account and he takes care of all that. I still write checks for Church and donations, but purchases are all taken care of with Visa.

Amy, I always wanted to be a Jeep owner in my driving days, but my "boss", husband was a sedan person. To my way of thinking, a Jeep is the only way to go. They are tough little monsters….made for the Military. But those days are just a memory now. My four wheel rollator is my balance, my dance partner, and my chair if needed. No upkeep.

Bis, is that the same nurse that spilled water all over your bed ? If so, I think your Joe has every right to recourse. I seldom use my Mac Ipad, but it is right here on my desk, all plugged in. When I was taken to the care facility, that Ipad rode over on my lap and kept me sane for eight days.

I have to go have some lunch so I will finish yakking later.  Me…June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Hal, I seldom write checks myself.  I do write one once a month to the church and if Tom’s friend cleans for us, I write a check.  I don’t do a lot to charge to my credit card, but most of the checks I send are sent from the bank.  It is a big help.  My utilities and taxes are taken directly from my accounts; I am always advised ahead of time when that will happen and for how much.  I used to carry my check book in my purse and I no longer have to do that.  Much progress has bypassed me, but that is one progressive thing I’ve kept up with.

Gloria, I also travel by computer these days too, unless someone takes me somewhere.  I did not make it to Indps this fall and I feel I probably will not go down again; I am too old for much travel.  I will say that my trip last Spring went along fine.  Visiting family is much different and easier than a sightseeing trip.  I miss the trips I took with Jim but neither of us would be able to do that now.  Of course, Jim is no longer with us.  After my own family being #1, Jim’s family is #2 and they agree.

June, today’s Jeeps are much more sophisticated than those used in the Army.  I have a friend who has a Jeep as his regular car.  His is a SUV, another car I have trouble getting into â€" but I manage.  If you were driving today, you’d love the car.

Tom bought me a sandwich from Jimmy John’s for lunch and as he will be gone from home at suppertime, I will have some of that very good cheese broccoli soup he made last night.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

June--this wasn't the same nurse that spilled water.  Joe came and got the iPad put back together.  Luckily the hinges were not broken.  He did some tweaking and the thing is back up and running.

Joan, good for Joe - to the rescue!

Mary Ann

June Drabek

Back from lunch and brought home half my egg salad sandwich on sour dough bread, and a cup of tapioca pudding, both of which I will have for supper.

Janie, I hope you had lots and lots of happy smiles today. How many hours did you put in today ?

Larry, what type of treatment are you giving your toes ? I have what looks like the start of ingrown toenails on my left toe, but I don't think they would do a removal because I have that arterial disease and any injury to my feet and lower legs takes forever to heal, even a scratch.Larry, our dining room has menus at each table, and there are two and sometimes three entrees to choose from with any "sides" you prefer. Or the right hand page has a huge choice of sandwiches, hot or cold, omelets, etc., so no one should go away dis-satisfied.Gary goes to a big store….can't think of the name, and they have the four flavors of the energy drink called Premier Protein drink, and each drink contains 30G of protein. I use the vanilla on my cereal instead of milk.

Gloria, I have no stove top of any kind in my kitchenette so making meals is a think of the past for me. I have the microwave, and a small toaster oven…the oven part is practically worthless as the timer only goes to 15 minutes. I bought some fish fillets pre-breaded…dummy me..so I find if I defrost and heat them in the microwave, I can crisp them in the little oven, but I won't buy them again…..not worth the bother. I do my traveling like you Gloria..on the computer.

Mary Ann, I have seen pictures of today's style of Jeep, but I think the basic "guts" are still the same, my "car" is foot powered, and no power steering. I don't even like to travel to Gary's home which is 15 min. away from here. If anyone wants to see me, they will have to come here.

Bis, your Joe sounds like my boys. They are all three Angels in disguise.
Dan worked on my desk top when he was here, and it was like he injected vitamins into the hard drive. Gary can do special things with it too, but Dan is the type that has to learn how it chews and digests. We are Blessed.

I had that huge lunch, and my recliner is calling my name, so I will go to book and recliner and let happen what will happen..ZZZZ
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol

Hooray!  I made it in here.  We have had many wi-fi interruptions since being forced to go to a new source.  It has to be so hard for a business - but I finally  got to the end of all the posts and now able to say hello.

Jane:  Dupuytren's Contracture is the name of the hand issue you are writing about.  Don and his sister  both had the hand surgery - her surgery did not really help very long.  Don is OK after many years but it is not pretty.  Small history of this is - it is inherited from the Vikings.  They came to Scotland and Ireland and apparently a place in Scotland where many people have the same issue.

I went to genealogy lecture today and am about to give up.  The woman talked in a whisper - her notes on the screen were not even legible.  Such a waste of time as so many of us could not hear.

We called youngest son & wished him a happy birthday.  He was just here last week on a sleepover then he drove to Phoenix for a meeting.  He is probably going to do the same in February.  We love it.

There was a story on t.v. here where a woman sat in the ER at a hospital for six hours, was never even seen - went home and found a bill for about $1,000 in the mail this week.  I hope she can fight it.  Shameful-

Don:  Kudos to you for keeping on with your talent and gift of giving entertainment!!!!

JaneS

CAROL, thanks for filling us all in on Dupuytrens.  I actually looked it up a while back but didn't feel like typing all tose letters every time I talked about it.  I had a long talk with the orthopedist on Monday and my father had the surgery for it when I was a young teenager.  Interestingly, I have both Irish and Scottish ancestors.  Must also be some Vikings way back there.

We saw a goo movie tonight called 'Let There Be Light".  Check it out if you get a chance.

My daughter came by this afternoon with a nice little space heater for me.  It had a Christmas bow on it and it does a pretty nice job of keeping my feet warm.

I'm going to be off to bed soon so I'll say...

Good night Everyfriend.  Sleep peacefully. Wake happy and may God bless us, every one.
