Good Morning Everyfriend!  And I do mean EVERY FRIEND!  We've had our first frost so now we can have Indian Summer.  I really love Indian Summer.  It's God's gift to us before the ice and snow come.

I wish you all a lovely day  full of things that please you!

Hi everyone on a 56 degree morning with no chance of rain today. Nothing unexpected occurred yesterday so it was another pretty restful day. Today will be my typical Thursday with the exception that I will not pickup my friend for coffee. There is a special meeting at his retirement home that he will attend today so can't go to coffee. I am going for my social time with my friends and then to the Church for the Wisdom group. Pat has her final chiropractic appointment for this week late this afternoon. I plan on getting some cooking done today, hopefully before I go to coffee.

Pat Halbach posted in the Christian Photographers discussion that Jeanne Lee was back in the hospital. No other details available.

June, the little piece you posted is how I try to live my life.

Joan, I am using my iPad this morning as not yet time to get up as Pat had to go to her easy chair for the last part of the night and I don't want to walk her yet. However the iPad is easier to use than the iPhone for writing as has the bigger keyboard. You are having more than your share of computer problems.

Joy, sad story about your friend who is so unhappy.

Hal and Jackie, just yesterday we had a man convicted of murdering a young child in the home. There are some very evil people in the world.

Shirley,  something wrong with my eyes as sure I saw you describe yourself as lazy. That image just doesn't fit my mental picture of you. ðŸ¤"

Amy, nice to read your husband is getting good rest in his own bed. I don't think anything makes you appreciate home like being in the hospital. Those rolling pins and frying pans would sure keep me behaving myself.

Enjoyed all of the postings. Hope all have a good day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Amy.  I am glad to read that your husband had such good sleep.  Getting up so early, you are going to need a nap.  I'll check the "hidey hole" for those muffins and biscuits.  Thank you.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning. I was up then, too.  I would love to join you and Amy.

Good morning, Janie.  When we lived up that way I always looked forward to Indian Summer.

Larry--Good morning.  You are sure going to keep busy today.  Thanks for telling us about Jeanne Lee.  She is having a really rough time.  I will add more prayers for her.    I'm sorry Pat wasn't able to sleep all night in her bad.  Yes, the iPad is easier to use than the iPhone, but I like my computer to be operable, too.

Good Morning Everyone!

Tisie, have to go along with Larry, lazy you aren't.  You, like so many ladies of this group have more irons in the fire than the law allows.

Well, our group is finally getting "somewhat" back to normal.  Janie is back, Lloyd claims he is normal  ::) (and he has broken or torn up anything in almost a week).

Amy, give your husband my best.  I know he must be happy to be under the care of an expert, you.  And the aroma of fresh baked muffins floating through the house has gotta be good therapy on it's own.   I am headed to the hidey hole.

Larry, is Pat going to continue with her treatment with Chiropractor?  It seems that you are starting to see some good results.  Pain is such a debilitating thing.

Well, I need to get a move on, bible study and breakfast with the men this morning.  Always great, food for the body and soul.

Oh no, Jeanne Lee back in hospital? I thought she had only just come out....

Amy, Joan, maybe we can set our clocks for an early morning cuppa, maybe for 4am...we can start our own club...call it the early risers...or if anyone can think of a better name...or maybe the " brew club.."
;)

HALKEL...
...Let us just hope, Lloyd continues to stay in one piece...

Good morning, halkel.  Enjoy your food for the body and soul.

Vanilla-Jackie--The "brew club" sounds good to me.:)

Good morning everyone, it is foggy, don't remember the last time I saw fog like this here if I ever did.

LARRY  glad you had a good day Tuesday. I always liked raw vegetables, then I like most vegetables any way.

JUNE  so often I know I cannot express what I mean and it comes out wrong. I would never say anything to hurt someone. I like what you quoted in post #105

JUST saw on the news they are working on a drone so small they insert it in someone to deliver medicine to a certain part of the body and then it will disintegrate. Good Lord, what next?

JOAN  hope you get help with your computer. No fun at all, and boy did I find that out since February.

JANE  I doubt you would ever say something to offend anyone. I have often worked with others with an odd sense of humor, sarcastic or insulting remarks that were meant as fun and not to be taken seriously. I could dish it out, too.  Know some folks are too serious and dislike that humor.

GLORIA de  I know who you were referring to about the trouble make who started back in SN and then learned we were here at S&F and started up again. Glad Pat banned him. Never came in contact with someone like him before or after.

JOY  I feel bad for your friend. I know when I told my son that I was moving here he was not happy. I had my own apartment in his house but needed help to go up and down the stairs to get outside and the only one I saw most of the time was him. I do miss his daily visits but here there are others to talk with and I can get outside thanks to the elevator.

JACKIE  there is a man on trial here for killing his 7 month old baby. How anyone can hurt a baby I will never understand.

LLOYD  we have had a few mornings already with frost.

SHIRLEY  you lazy?  No way. I get worn out reading all you do. I have finally started going through my boxes of pictures. Some old one of my family that neither sons want and some my daughter said she would like. Instead of sending them to her I will scan them and get them on a thumb drive for her. Don't think we will see the 80's again this year, had not hit 70 this week. Nice, put a light jacket on and go outside.

JOAN  a cheese omelet will be so good this morning. Good chuckles. Copied  the Five Finger prayer and will share it. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  glad your DH had a good night.

JANE  we have had a few frosty mornings but no killing frost yet.

LARRY  thanks for letting us know about Jeanne Lee.

Good Morning everyone. This old verse keeps popping into my mind, so I will share it.

"This is the day the Lord has made, so rejoice and be glad in it ."

I have had my first cuppa', and ready for another and a bite to eat. Did my exercises and massaged these poor old legs and cold feet, washed and lotioned so partly ready to face the day. Dan and Nancy will arrive around mid morning, so I had better get the bed made and myself dressed. But first...more coffee and conversation with all of you.

Tisie, I echo your feelings about our friends here in the S.S., they are all so dear and it is such a joy to see them each morning..a perfect start to my day.

Larry dear, thank you so much for informing us about Jeanne Lee. She is really having a bad time recovering from her stay in the hospital.

I love hearing of how each of us starts our day, we are so similar in many ways, yet as individuals in other ways...just the way God Planned it. Life is good. And I love you all. June

HI GLORIA.....have a good day dear friend !!!!!
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Gloria--We quite often have fog here.  So far the band aid fix on my computer is working, but I know it could snap anytime.  I am really glad you moved where you can have some social interaction.

June--Enjoy the visit from your kids.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
from the cool and dry,  rocky coast of Maine.

All is well here.

I am going to listened to some of
last nights programs that I have recorded.
It is great to be able to review "stuff" that
I missed  at the viewing time.

I particularly like "The Rachel Maddow Show",
and "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell",
as well as the new and older shows that are
showing this season.

Fun to play "Catch Up" !

Have a good day,  everyone!!

Easy to use...   And very helpful for someone

ability to record many of my favorite shows.

Hello Friends!  The weather was beautiful in Central PA.  I often wonder when I say that if anyone really cares what kind of weather we have in the countryside of PA.  It doesn't matter though, because I care about it.

I hope you've all had a lovely day, so far and that it continues to be just that.  JUNE, I hope you're enjoying your visit with your kids as I'm sure they are enjoyin visiting with you.

Molly, I hope your family continues to be safe and that their cleanup proceeds well.

I wish all of you health and happiness.

Kiran and I spent a happy hour together at the library.  She has become quite a reader and I'm happy to have been a part of that.  She takes about 5 books home with her and she's finished with them before it't time to go back the next week.  We have something special to do together and we both love it.

I'll say my good night now because I'm reading a biography of Gene Kelly and I'm probably not going to get back later.  Good Night Everyfriend.  Sleep peacefully and know that God watches over all of us.

Hi, All.......I'm still waiting for Dan and Nancy. This has been a long, long, day. However Dan has contacted Gary twice now, and Gary calls me. The first call was they were doing some sight-seeing on the way down. Second call they were about a half hour away, but in a lot of traffic, so Gary just told me to plan on seeing them around supper time. ho hum....... In the mean time I have cleaned out a saved file and tossed stuff that I had started saving since I joined Sr. Net way back in 1997. So that is one less thing my kids will have to do when the day comes they have to dispose of "stuff". Gave me lots of good memories though. one is a group picture of some of our people from 2002 when were still Bis' Nest. Nugget and his daughter were there along with some I have forgotten "talking" with. Makes me a bit sad not to remember.

I'll try to send it to Bis, in case she wants to post it.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Food For Thought

It IS the Thought that Counts
(By Kerry Doyal)

Great news: Deepening your mark for Christ on others can be very easy! Expanding your impact for God is not usually complicated. Brace yourself for a cheesy phrase on how to increase impact for the Lord. I hope you will stick around for an explanation. Here's the cheese: "Put your mind to it and then just do it."

For those still with me, I even have a verse that will justify everything. Pitiful, huh? My assumption is that you desire to maximize your service for Christ seen in changed lives by His grace. That is where we are heading, but first, a story:

Paul, an apostle of Jesus, is in jail - again - this time in Rome. Always the disciple-maker, he is writing letters to churches he has served. One is a joy-filled thank you note to the church he started in Philippi. These generous souls had supported him many times in the past, but most recently they lost contact with Paul.

Concerned about his babies - believers he was growing into maturity - Paul had sent co-laborers to check on various churches' health. Epaphroditus stopped in on the church in Philippi and was glad to see they were doing well. They were glad to hear news about Paul and be able to reconnect. Seizing the opportunity, they sent a gift back to Paul via Epaphroditus. They once again had a chance to show their love through support.

With this backdrop, we better appreciate Paul's words in Philippians 4:10, 11, 14. "But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak from want... Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction" (NASB).

The Message reads: "I'm glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess - happy that you're again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. ... I don't mean that your help didn't mean a lot to me - it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles."

Expressed thoughtfulness touches people deeply - even the mature, confident, competent, content types, like Paul. Though their gift was appreciated, it was their concern, their thoughts of him that was valued most. "Thanks for thinking of me!" he writes. "Not that I was in need because, I have learned to be content. Nevertheless, your gift was appreciated. It was a sweet smelling sacrifice that pleases God" (vs. 18).

That is lofty language. Thus my cheesy ministry advice: "Put your mind to it and then just do it." When we keep people in our hearts and minds and then express it, we set off parties of praise to God. Prisoner Paul "mega-rejoiced." So do people when you revive your concern for them by expressing it in any one of thousands of ways (chocolate being near the top of the list :) ).

Practical acts of kindness encourages others and prompts praise to God. Though Paul had learned contentment - how to live with a little or lots - he was still stirred by their present. They remember him. He was not forgotten. They had ongoing love for him and their gift was proof. Hallelujah.

Which life-prisoners would throw a party of praise if you were to let them know you still thought of them, loved and appreciated them? A card, a call, an e-mail, flowers, a txt msg, a gift, dark chocolate. Simple words and acts of love leave deep marks. Some two thousand years later, we still hear echoes of Paul's thanks.

Are people disposable or expendable to you? They serve your purposes for a season and then you are done - moving on. "Next!" Hold on a moment, please. The Greatest commandment was to love God. Number Two was to love people, as much as we already love ourselves - untold bunches.

People are precious and fragile- they need love, to be remembered, respected and thanked. Many folks are often refueled with hope and purpose by someone simply saying "thanks, good job, I appreciate you, care for some chocolate?"

God's love for us was shown in giving His one-of-a-kind, only-one-qualified Son to die for us rebels. He considered our need and - dare I put it so blandly - did something about it. He did not simply hatch a plan back in eternity; He acted on it, conveying His glory, grace and covenant love. Just maybe He is a worthy model to emulate.

Soap box alert: We have gotten so used to doing ministry via church programs - which can be great tools of God - that we forget to love on people outside the "ministry" we have. "They are not in my class. Sorry." It seems God only works in 13-week segments, in hour-long blocks inside church buildings. We do our thing and are through for the week. Thus the anemic church (please read Ephesians 4:11-16).

Extending and deepening your ministry is not hard: show genuine concern for others in practical ways. Do you keep-up with people or forget them? What long-lost friend, old teacher or student can you track down and convey your love, respect and fond memories?

Who do you need to let know that they are in your thoughts and prayers? Seems that telepathy is faulty stuff. Thinking it is not enough. Thus the profound advice: "Put your mind to it and then just do it."

Okay, all the cards on the table: yes, this is Pastor appreciation month (did I mention chocolate?). But, pastors are not the only ones who need blessing. After you thank current and former Shepherds, keep going (read James 2:14-17; 1 John 3:16-20). How about that Camp Director, neighbor, Sunday School teacher, Queen of the Casseroles, Deacon, Elder, nursery worker, Youth worker, Mom, Dad, secretary, bus driver...?

It was in response to the kindness of these same Philippians that Paul wrote: "And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen" (Phil. 4:19, 20 - NASB). Amen indeed! Now, go get 'em.

Thought of the Day

"The greatest proof of Christianity for others is not how far a man can logically analyze his reasons for believing, but how far in practice he will stake his life on his belief."

- T.S. Eliot

Good morning Joan, I have been up since 3:30. I am now heating water to wash, went to take a shower last night and found I have no hot water. I could not sleep. I am suppose to be at Homemakers in Jamesport at 9, as there is a meeting, the speaker is from the Senior center.  I also have to finish teaching my knitting class.  I already have coffee on.

Good morning everyone

Nice to sleep in a bit!! I did wake and peek at he clock but it was only 3:45 so I stayed in bed and went back to sleep!

Not sure what the day will bring other than the usual chores. I did manage to finish another quilt top last night and now just have the binding to make for it.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, hope you are all fine and dandy on this cool sunny morning. The sun is now hitting the swamp maples in front and the leaves look like shining rubies. That is my beautiful view at this time of year. Of course if I looked down I would just see cars. Had politicians here at suppertime, they supplied a chicken dinner from a restaurant noted for their dinners, Chicken is what they specialize in. I was surprised there was not a lot of speeches. They introduced themselves and that was about it. I knew the parents of a couple of them. We have 2 power plants in town and now the governor wants another even bigger one to come in here. Most everyone in town is against it because of the pollution. Some of those here last night have been in town for 6 generations and want to keep it with clean air. There used to be a polio hospital here because the air was so clean.

JUNE  you know what they say about cold feet, “cold feet warm heart” that fits you. Like you my feet are always cold except in summer.

JOAN  when I booted up this morning I had something I never saw before. It had a message -cleaning up, do not shut down. Heck I clean out junk every night and after all these years I never saw that message before. I have not downloaded anything new either since it came back from HP. It is good to be with other people as much or as little as I like. I grew up in a big family so there was always a lot of others around. I know where I was before I liked being near my son but my social life was with the Nest and then here in the SS. Especially when I could no longer drive.

SANDY I have not seen any of the new shows this season. I really do not watch much TV.

JANE  like you I usually say something about what the weather is like here. Glad Kiran still enjoys reading. I remember when you first took her to the library. Is that biography of Gene Kelly a library book? I always thought he was a better dancer than Fred Astair. I know, different styles, but I always enjoyed his movies.

JUNE  I have a picture that BUNNIE did of everyone that posted in the Nest.  I had printed it out and I have it in a frame and I do look at it every day. We were a large group then. I remember making a Christmas tree and the faces of all of us were on it like ornaments. Of course BIS was the star at the top. I think I still have that on the external.

JOAN  will enjoy eggs Benedict this morning, better than my usual oatmeal. Yikes Chuckles, wonder how many would fall for an email like that. I am too much a Doubting Thomas to fall for anything. Food for Thought should have many thinking about those who were lost contact with. Thank you for all today's goodies.

GLORIA de  no fun when you go to take a shower and no hot water. That has happened here and the reason why they just put in a new much bigger water heater.

LLOYD  good morning.

AMY  glad you got to sleep later this morning.

JANE  Sunday night we might get down to 32 and by mid week will be in the mid 70's. Will wait and see.

Good morning, Gloria.  I do miss the leaves changing color.  I remember that picture of those that posted in the Nest.  Sadly some are no longer with us.  I never had a "cleaning up" message on my computer.  That's strange.  How nice that the politicians provided a chicken dinner for the residents.
