Hi everyone on another clear and beautiful 66 degree morning here in South Carolina.  I basically have my normal morning chores done for today and as soon as Pat gets up I will fix her some scrambled eggs and the strawberries she likes as well as her coffee.

The calendar is clear for today.  However I plan to put together a couple of casseroles that we will freeze to take to the church bazaar next Wednesday.  Pat has a recipe for a Tator Tot recipe that is good.  I will have to brown a couple of pounds of hamburger with two chopped onions and then layer the other ingredients which involves frozen vegetables, cream of mushroom soup and cheddar cheese.  At the first of the week we will fix a cake to take also.  Yesterday after Pat's chiropractic appointment I fixed a meatloaf and acorn squash to go with the coleslaw I had made yesterday morning and we had it for dinner.

Hal, yes Pat is going to continue the Chiropractic treatments following the plan outlined by the chiropractor.  She has one more month of three times a week appointments and then will have a reduced schedule of treatments that should taper down to maybe once a month to maintain her back.  I just want her to be feeling better so she can enjoy life again.  The last couple of months haven't been very enjoyable as they have been painful and caused her to miss the normal things she likes to do like working on her quilting, going to church and participating in her crafts group at church.  About the only things we have been able to do, other than the chiropractor, is go out to eat a few times.

Jackie, Jeanne Lee hadn't been out of the hospital but for a few days.  She has access to the Internet via a laptop or a tablet or smart phone as she was able to post briefly again yesterday as well as let Pat know she was back in the hospital.

Gloria, some of the things that are being done with drones and robots are surely unbelievable and get they are happening.  It seems like drones just exploded on the scene but obviously people had been working on them for quite awhile.

Sandy, we love the ability to fast forward through those long commercial breaks when we have recorded programs.

JaneS, I find comments about the weather conditions in other locations to be interesting.  The contrasts between areas of the country I find fascinating.  However, glad I live in the South and don't have to worry about snow and seldom ice.  That is a wonderful things you are doing in taking Kiran to the library as that will be of benefit her entire life.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  You sure are becoming quite the chef--meatloaf, scrambled eggs, tater tot casserole, baking a cake etc.  Bet you even have a chef's apron.:)

Good Morning Everyone!

Well old tail end Charley (Me) finally go here.  Actually I read most of the post early this morning but didn't post.  I wanted to get down to get my new windshield sticker for vehicle registration.  I wanted to beat the crowd but that didn't work out too good.  I go to the local super market and they can handle it, first I had a hard time finding a parking spot and then I wanted to pick up a coffee cake for breakfast and when I went to check out there were two people in front of me and the cashier was taking her time.  Anyhow then when I got to service desk there was only one window open and that lady was taking her time. Anyhow, finally got things handled and went over to get gas, no problem there just had to fill up (1.89 a gal) and came on home.  Wife informed me she had already fixed herself something to eat.......so I ate alone....

Larry, obviously you and Pat think the treatments are helping.  Hopefully now that she is up and about she will improve rapidly.  I hope so.

Gloria, the big question:  was the chicken good?

Yard guy here, got to go.

Good morning from the Interior! No sign of snow here although the leaves have long fallen and temperatures dropped. We do not even have fresh snow on the mountains. After such a soggy excuse for a summer, autumn is very enjoyable! Our "usual" first snow is generally just before Halloween. I say usually because nothing weatherwise is typical anymore.

June you can always have someone copy your photo of the Internet group into a drive that allows you to use your computer to access it and send it to whom you please.

Joan, I enjoyed your "form letter," this morning. I no longer use Wordpad or Notepad to copy and paste an item I wish to save. I have a "screen grab," application that allows me to capture either an entire page, section, or just a visual part of a page.

The application then asks if I want to save it as a photo or PFD. Then it asks where I want it saved. This way I have a copy of what I want saved, in my documents folder to keep or send with an email.

For someone like me who has trouble physically using a computer, (I use a program that allows me to operate the computer verbally); not using WordPad or Notepad, saves time, trouble and effort! I do enjoy your chuckles.  Bis's Nest was one of my regular reads from SeniorNet.

Good Morning all, I am not yet awake even though I have not been asleep since five this morning. I can't believe how tired one can get when doing nothing. I think it was all the anticipation of waiting for my kids to arrive all day yesterday, and they finally got here so we could all have supper together downstairs and a nice chatty visit afterwards. They left here about nine o'clock,so I went to bed early. Today they are going to be touring with Gary and Dori. They will pick me up this afternoon to go to Gary and Dories home where she will have a good supper for us and more visits. They plan to leave early tomorrow morning from here to get through the So. Ca. traffic and then spend another night at their favorite motel in Moro Bay. They had planned to stop here to say goodbye on Sat. but since they had such a time getting through L.A. traffic they wanted to leave very early, which suits me fine...I HATE saying "goodbye".

So I will have a fairly quiet day here which suits me fine. I am still weary physically for some reason.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

halkel--Too bad most everyone you had to deal with this morning was in slow motion.

Hi Donklan.

Good morning/afternoon Angelface.  That "screen grab" sounds interesting.

June--GREAT that you are enjoying every minute of your kid's visit.[/color

JeanneP

Jackie.  When you are up at 5:50 am in UK it is still the prior day 11:50 PM for such as myself here in the Midwest.  I would be fast asleep still.  6 hour difference. For June who I believe is California would be 9:50 PM I believe. They are 2 hours behind me and the East is 1 hour ahead of me.  Crazy country for keeping time here. Not like UK where all seems to stay the same.  Small country.  My State is larger than it. Think Illinois is about 490 miles NS and about 300 plus EW.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

JeanneP, why do you say we are a crazy country in keeping time?  I am in the EDT zone, the same as New York.  June is three hours behind me.  Would you expect New York and California to be on the same time?  I do think Michigan should be in the Central zone, but that is not up to me.  The UK being smaller can have every county/shire in the same zone, but it would be ridiculous here.

Mary Ann

We are four hours behind the east coast and Michigan, two hours behind the west coast, and 12 hours behind Israel.  We are waking up when most of you folks are either lunching or getting off work. Jackie and Bubble are starting to post as I'm ready for my bed!

These are my newest great granddaughters. They are identical twins! They belong to my granddaughter, Crystal,  from Arizona.

JaneS

Hi Everyfriend!  I got home from work earlier, had lunch, gave the doggies a snack, let them out, read some of my book and then caught a few zzzs.  I've been doing some research on the computer and trying to clean up my desk a bit.  And now Mickie is sitting in the doorway trying to sound pathetic enough to let me know it's time for her supper.

JUNE, I'm so glad you had a nice visit with your family.

LARRY, I'll keep on giving the weather report for you so you can tell yourself that you're glad you don't live where I do.  Although you would have loved today!  it got into the mid 60s and the sun is still shining.  I came home from work without wearing my jacket!  The weekend is supposed to be in the mid 70s and making it to 80 on Sunday.  My kind of Autumn!

Lloyd, I'm sure the babies are gorgeous but all I can see is a pink hat.  Darn old eyes!

I'll try to come back later and see what ya'll are up to!

JeanneP--I have trouble keeping track of what time it is where all our participants reside.

Mary Ann--I simply have trouble keeping the time zones correct.

Lloyd--I know the twins are beautiful babies, but I don't see any image.

Janie--Glad you got a nap and some research done after work.  Your sweet doggies have built in clocks.:) You see a pink hat?  All I see is text.

Sandy--What browser are you using to see Lloyd's picture?

I "refreshed" and now see the adorable babies.

Since my kids are still busy with one another, I went down to the party for eight of our residents that 100 years of age or more. It was a really full Full House. They served Cider, cheese, crackers and fruit for a snack and had a huge cake for the Birthday folks and their guests. It was quite inspiring.

I have done nothing but loaf and read and snack today, and enjoyed myself thoroughy. Looking forward to a trip to Gary and Dories to have supper with the four of them and then a good visit, till I get tired out. then Gary will take me home.

Bis, I saw a young man, presumably the father, holding the twin babies, and then another of the babies in their little hospital beds. I'm on my iMac, and my browser is Safiri.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lloyd,  great pictures of the proud Dad/daughters and the precious twins in their hats.

Every time I see a Facebook post from Ellen with an early a.m. time,  I have to remember it's an hour later in New York.

Nothing of interest going on in my little corner of the world.  Ho Hum.

Amy

Lloyd, the babies are beautiful and just look at the smile on the daddy!!!

Had the fire going this morning so put a pot of soup on to cook, then made some raisin bread. Took one loaf to the neighbours and while there trimmed their dogs feet.  :smitten: that dog!

Just going to rest tonight.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Today was a strange day for me. We got ready to drive 15 miles to the dentist to have a tooth extracted. It had been through two crowns and a root canal and then broke off at the gumline. (not the first time this has happened to me!) At the last minute I re-checked my appointment card only to find out I had the wrong day! I had already taken an ativan (for anxiety)! It made me want to sleep all day! It finally wore off late this afternoon. Now I have to repeat this performance on Monday.  ::)

Good night all!

Thank for all the praise. sorry not up to par on what is visible. grand daughter posted for us and did all she could with what she had to work with.

Don, I was just sick when I ran across these sites..... I was ready to try again to get a new laptop but can't bring myself to buy a different type.  Nothing I have tried at any of the stores has a keyboard that springs back to type as fast as Toshiba.  Last time I ordered from Toshiba Direct but the one they sent (& it was not a cheapie) didn't have the wi-fi built in.  Took my son a whole day to convince their tech help that it just wasn't there.  He could take them deeper into the innards than any of the techs could go, so they gave me a full refund.  This time I was going to get one through Best Buy, to let them set it up, etc. & figured I'd have to order to get what I wanted.  My youngest son was trying to break the news to me gently that "most don't come with DVD & CD reader & writers..... ".... & I naively explained that I'd get them to order the way I wanted it built, having done that online before.  Best Buy didn't list any Toshiba laptops online.  So I started digging & sobbing.....

Lloyd, those are darling babies and since we have met, I will tell you that I do think they look like you already!  They sure look nicely filled out for twins.

Joan, I'm using Google Chrome & a click on the thumbnails bring them up a good size.

We've had enough cool days that I started moving clothes around from summer to winter... and back to the 80s again this week end & next week.  Does not make me happy.  Gee... I sound like such a whiner tonight.  I'll get a head adjustment & be back later.

Oh, Beverly, my stomach did a flip at your tooth problem.  I had one break off at the gum & was "sweating bullets" when the dentist took it out.  My heart goes out to you, along with a prayer & hug.

June Drabek

Amy, have a good rest tonight girl. You sound tired.

Beverly, isn't that frustrating when you get a date mixed up, and especially an important one with that broken tooth. The dentist should pay you for all the bad luck you have had with the crown. Darn !

I am back from a visit the Gary and Dories lovely home. They had it all re=done two years ago, and it is so lovely. I really enjoyed myself, but I hate to be parted from Dan and Nancy. They will leave early tomorrow and drive straight through to Santa Cruz. Dori sent home a big packet of her homemade Spaghetti and salad. Scumptious.  I will enjoy it tomorrow. I do hate to be separated from my kids, but that is a part of loving….letting them go.

I will be going to an early bed so I will bid you all a goodnight, God Bless, with Love, hugs and prayers. June

Out of Gas

After finishing an out-of-town errand, I discovered that my car wouldn't start because it was out of gas.

A passer-by told me there was a service station a half-mile away, so I took a gas can from the trunk and trudged the distance in the sweltering sun.

The attendant filled my two-gallon can, and I lugged it back and poured the gas into the tank. But when I tried to unlock the car door, it wouldn't open. Just then, I noticed an identical old car parked a short distance away. That was my car; I had filled a stranger's gas tank.

Wearily I walked back to the station. "You know," the attendant suggested helpfully, "instead of walking back and forth to fill the tank from the can, you could put a couple of gallons in the tank and then drive the car here."

Food For Thought

Taking God’s Care for Granted

By Joel Vande Werken
Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 5:20-24

Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.
Jeremiah 5:24
Little children are full of questions: “Why does the corn grow? How does a seed sprout?” They are filled with wonder at the miracle of creation and of all living things.
But adults often forget the wonders of creation. We take for granted that seeds sprout and plants grow. Agricultural advances shelter many of us from the worst effects of drought, disease, and insects that kill crops. Many city dwellers rarely give a thought to the wonders of harvesting. It’s as if food simply -appears on grocery store shelves.
Scripture pleads with God’s people to remember the source of every blessing, to see his hand of provision in rainfall, in the harvest season, and in the working of creation in general. We are far more dependent on God’s grace than we often think. And our failure to acknowledge him is not just ignorance. It is sin.
Sin deprives us of good because it keeps us from seeing God in all his goodness to us. Human relationships suffer when we take them for granted. And when we look at the world without seeing God, we miss out on God’s goodness.
Jesus came into this world to help us see again the goodness of the Father. Won’t you pray that he helps us to recover our wonder at God’s care for us?
Gracious God, we repent of taking your care for granted. Help us not to look at the growing world without seeing you at work. Open our eyes, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to you Joanie and to you also Jackie!  Here we are again, the 3 Js.  It hasn't been happening so much lately but it was bound to happen again!

Right now the temp is 35º in Central PA.  We are expecting a high of the mid 60s today.  I have nothing special planned for today but I'll have to see what I can get into!  Maybe I'll go get the meat for my veggie soup and get that cooking today.  If I don't get it started pretty soon, I won't have any to eat "when the snow flies".  And I'm hungry for some right now.  It's beginning to be "soup weather".  I think I'll pick up some sweet potatoes at the Farmer's market tomorrow and make some of Radioman's sweet potato soup.

How's that HAL?  You wanted to know what I'm doing for "when the snow flies"

I better feed the doggies now.  They are starting to shift from foot to foot to tell me they're getting impatient for their breakfast.  Have a wonderful day, Everyfriend and do whatever pleases you.

Good morning everyone, a 34° reading this morning, wind chill feels like 28°, a killing frost and now we can get Indian summer. Bu mid week they are saying upper 70's here, I looked out and saw frost on everything.

JOAN  that was the first time I saw that cleaning up message, not there this morning.

LARRY  I have an acorn squash I want to stuff, have to wait for my son to come so he can cut it in half for me. One of my grandsons has a drone and he attached a camera to it to take photos of the landscaping he does, something good to show new clients and build up his business. Glad the Chiropractor is helping Pat.

HAL  always seemed to be lines no matter what time I went to get my car inspected. At one time many gas stations could do the inspections but then the state set up a few places in the state and that is where we have to go now.

JUNE  I know you enjoyed the visit with both your sons and their wives.

PATRICIA nothing usual in the weather here either this year.

JANE  sure cannot complain about the weather right now. Cool for sleeping and comfortable in the days.

LLOYD  the twins are beautiful, Dad looks happy holing them. Enlarged both pictures.

JOAN  when my daughter first moved to California I had trouble with the 3 hour time difference. Now that they are living in Arizona will have to get used to the time there, Thy do not change to daylight saving time. Wish we didn't either.

SHIRLEY  I just got winter  clothes out and summer ones put away. I did keep a few summer things out, never can tell about the weather here.

JOAN  I will enjoy a bear claw, love 'em. Your quote is so true. Thanks for all today's goodies.

JANE  today is a good day for soup.
