Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  It rained all night here and is still raining.   This is the first long-lasting rain we've had in weeks.  Interesting about the different kinds of MS.

Janie--Good morning.  I just heard from Linda and she was just leaving Miami.  It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive.

Good morning Amy.  Glad you had a nice day yesterday.  You sure are ambitious.  Now you're painting.

JOAN....

...I bet you are so pleased that you finally have gotten rain.....
...................................

Well I know where I was today, 47 years ago.....I was in the maternity hospital recovery ward, after a short time of pushing out my new born baby....13th September 1969, I was aged 18 & a half.......

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Yes, I am glad we are getting rain.  It looks to be raining hard all the way to Miami so Linda will be driving the interstate in the rain.  That will probably slow her down.  Too bad you and your daughter are estranged.

I'm up but I am definitely not at 'em.  Woke up tired so probably won't have a too productive day.  That's OK...nothing today that HAS to be done and I have absolutely no plan to coax the vacuum out to dance.  Wish it would rain but even though the sky was red at sunrise we aren't supposed to get any moisture.  I'll have to go out and water the newly seeded lawn, I guess.  Just like "feast or famine" it is "flood or drought" around here.

Sorry I'm sounding down or negative.  I will probably perk up later on.  I hope it will be a good day for all of you.....and for me, too.

...me, me, me, I need it,..... I'm still recovering from child birth...  ;D

Halkel, wishing you all the best for your day ahead, re, your medical marathon....

Joy

Good morning, Joan and all the other early friends.

Hal, I am right behind you with the doctor's visits.  I have one today and one next week and then will see what happens after that. I am due for some tests or x-rays or some other kind of procedures.  I have had a couple of doctor-free months.  But, then they eventually caught up.

Jackie, my husband was dx. probably in his late 50's or early 60's and he had the Progressive type of MS.  He had been having problems for a couple years before the dx.  He had a couple back surgeries and a neck operation.  Finally, when nothing improved his walking and balance problems, his supposedly excellent orthopedic surgeon suggested he see a neurosurgeon right out of the blue, telling us in a very blunt manner that he probably had a brain tumor.   A few scary weeks before he got the appointment, and the first thing the neurosurgeon said when we walked in..... I don't think you have a brain tumor.  That kind of eased our minds a little bit, but after some other tests,  it turned out to be MS.  He had several other problems along with the MS.  He was diabetic, thyroid problems, cancer to among other things.  But, he did handle his problems real well.  But, things did get progressively worse over several years.
So, I can understand very well what you are going through. And, I think you are handling your condition as well as you can.  Just have to keep staying as active as you are able to be.

I need to get myself moving.  Have a good day.

.....thank you for sharing your hubby's MS story, and thank you for having the first hand knowledge to understand.......Yes they say MS is not the simplest to diagnose...I so understand we must continue exercising, although easier said than done when MS rares up, one can only do what one can manage, but I know exercise and diet is still very important and diet is something I should take more seriously as I am now putting more weight on, which is certainly not helping......

Joy, you too, will be in my closest thoughts as you undertake your medical tests, x-rays and procedures...

Larry,  I did neglect to mention something to you.   I commend you for still going to the Ala-Non meetings.  I  stopped going when my husband got sick and then we moved.  I didn't have a way to get there after that.  However,  I want to tell you that I still keep my little ODAT book very handy and try to read it a lot.  And, I have so many notations and reminders written throughout the book. I do refer to several of those notes every once so often.   I learned a lot during that time.

Good morning from a still dripping, still foggy Interior! We still have minor flooding, still early morning frost and still trying to diet while Farrah is still killing felt mice daily and hiding the bodies in her paper sack! In other words, nothing new here.

June Drabek

Good Morning All,

Bis, I am so glad you got your good rain. They said we had a 40 percent chance, but nary a drop to be seen. Still cloudy, so hope never dies. I am so glad your Linda is on the way. Will she be with you very long, or is this just a pass-through to another location ?

phyllis, you sound like I feel today. I no longer have a lawn to water, alas, but it is just as well, I have to remember to water myself these days. I have a "free" day though, for which I am thankful. I can just hibernate and doze off when I want to.

Hal, I hope these doctors are not draining you of what "get up and go" the Lord allots you for this day my friend. I just have a full pot of coffee on my counter, but thank you for the kind offer of yours.

Jackie, it took quite few hours for my first baby to enter the world, so I was worn out, but my husband was the one that had to be given medication for his disturbances. HIs stomach went crazy with the waiting.

I see my doctor once a month regularly. She doesn't arrive when I take a tumble. It is up to the paramedics to decide if I need hospital treatment. Thank God they decided I could stay home and just go to the clinic downstairs for a bandage change each day. Now my boo-boo has healed, but I developed an allergy to the tape they used, and it itches like crazy. I'll give it a day or two and if it doesn't ease I will take it to the nurses downstairs, and see what they can do.

It is going on 10 a.m. where I live, so I think it is time I get myself dressed for the public. I already had my ear doctor call at the door, giving me a receipt for my payment and a report of the results of my hearing test which I do not understand one bit, but my son may be able to decipher it for me.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Hi everyone on a nice 73 degree morning.  Yesterday when we got to the chiropractor's office it was hot so we decided to leave the car windows down an inch or so.  While in the office a hard rain started and we had to wait about 10 minutes after Pat's appointment was finished to get a break in the rain and get into the car, which had wet car seats.  Fortunately we had a microfiber cloth in the car so were able to wipe off the wet seats.  Shortly after we got home the skies opened up and we had a hard rain lasting maybe 20 minutes.  I sure won't need to water my yard on Thursday.  There is only a small chance for further rain today.

The am just back from a  trip to the Walmart to get a prescription for pain pills filled for Pat and get a few other things we needed.  We have a beef roast thawed out that will go into the crock pot on low and cook throughout the day, which we will have for dinner along with some cooked vegetables for Pat and raw ones for me.  The chicken noddle soup turned out well last evening for our dinner.  I do plan on getting the laundry caught up today.  Otherwise I just plan a restful day.

I had a most unusual experience while in the grocery area of Walmart.  An older man, probably in his 50's, was approaching and I smiled at him and said good morning or something and he stopped and told me his mother had suddenly passed away 3 days ago and that was all he could think about.  I talked with him for several minutes.  His parents had been married for 62 years.  He told me that he had never had a close relationship with his father but that is now appearing.  I assured him that God will see him through this situation as he doesn't require more of us than he will provide the strength to endure.  I hope our little conversation will help him get through this day.  He obviously needed someone to talk with and I am glad I was there to be that person.

Jenny, I was just speaking to Pat about reading an article this morning citing that Parkinson's doctor. I certainly hope he is wrong as wouldn't wish that on anyone.  My best friend is dealing with it and it is so hard to see his brilliant engineering mind now fading some what as well as his motor skills.

Joy, thanks for your posting concerning Al-Anon.  We now have three daily readers, one of which is directed at Adult Children of Alcoholics, and I have read all three daily for over 10 years now.  As they say the old becomes new.  There are also several really great Al-Anon books written by those of us who have walked the walk and been affected by a loved one's disease of addiction.

I am going to beg off on more comments today as it is approaching 1 pm and I am beat and ready for some rest.  I had to get two very large beef roast brazed to be put in two crock pots to start cooking.  What a greasy mess I have to get cleaned up but later this afternoon along with finishing the washing and drying of clothes.  My planned quiet day hasn't turned out to be that so far.  :)  Thank you all for your interesting postings.

Angelface--We finally got some much needed rain.

June--Linda arrived and has left for some appointments.  She'll be back mid-afternoon and then has another appointment at 6 p.m.  She'll be back to sleep and then has to leave at 4:30 a.m. for Orlando.   She has an early flight to Philadelphia.  She will be there, in NYC and St. Louis this week.  I don't know how she keeps up the pace.

Larry--How nice to were in the store and willing to give your time and kindness to that man who needed someone to talk to.  You are becoming quite the cook/homemaker.  Making pot roast, doing the laundry etc.

Vanilla-Jackie--Back when I had my children, husbands weren't allowed in the Labor or Delivery room.

Larry, Thank you. God put you in a spot where you were needed at Walmart, and you answered Him. I am glad you are letting the grease spatters wait till later my dear friend. You are really doing too much today. Can the laundry wait till tomorrow morning…please. You are valuable to us and we need you well.

Jackie, It was Ed's first baby.. God knew what was needed when he women the bearer of children. We may be considered the "weaker' sex, but we lack in muscle power we make up for in stamina and patience. And yet, just look what our Larry has taken over in his life right now…learning to cook and clean and do laundry. I am so proud of him.

Bis, just what does Linda's work consist of ?? She must be wearing herself out keeping up with it all. I am so glad she has a few peaceful hours to spend with "Mom" and I know and can feel how welcome she is in your life. Ed wasn't allowed to be with me during labor either Bis. Thank God…I didn't need to be holding his hand while pushing and grunting. It is rather animalistic, giving birth.

I am enjoying my day "at home". We had a few sprinkles come down, then a bit of sun, and now it is cloudy again. I went out for a very short walk, and chose to walk all three floors of hallways instead. Now I am heating some Campbells chicken noodle soup for my lunch.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Well I'm back from the my doctors visit and a stop at the Chevy dealership.  Both were a success.  Doctor said he would see me in six months and everything appears stable, BP was just a tad high, but he wasn't too concerned.
I went by the Chevy place and saw one of the service managers about my remote that broke the other day.  My extended warranty policy covered it, so I have a new 220.00 dollars remote, no charge, thank you very much.

But it has been a long afternoon.  Doctor was late and programming the remote was longer than I thought.  Any old how, it's all done, one apmt down and two more to go.  SIL will be picking me up at 6:30 in the AM for my "fasting" ultrasound at 7:30.  Hopefullly that want take long.

Larry, you are a good man.  Tisie, you better not shut up, enjoy every word you put down.  And I am not kidding.

June Drabek

Hal, I'm happy to hear you had a good report from your doctor, and you do have an extra special good son in law, to take for your testing at that hour of the morning.

Tisie, I agree with Hal, we look forward to your daily posts. Every single person here is important in our lives, and what you do is interesting, always.

Good afternoon, EVERYFRIEND.

I wrote a post this morning, but when I went back to add to it I could not find it.  Oh well, not much was said other than telling that I had been sick over night and again this morning. It was an awful night....I believe it was caused by a new shot that I am taking for my diabetes that is the culprit.  I am doing better now other than being tired from not much rest.

JACKIE, I read the article that you shared regarding the man being diagnosed with MS.  it does seem that many of the symptoms present themselves in strange ways leaving it difficult to be for sure if it is MS.

LARRY, I agree, I certainly hope it is not Parkinson's that Hillary has, but sadly I do believe it is a possibility.  I have a first cousin that has been dealing with this for about 10 years and he is just now getting to the very worse stages of it.  They Meds he has been on certainly helped him get by much longer than expected.  You sure have been keeping a busy schedule with your cooking, etc.  it is amazing what we can accomplish when we are forced to, but for you it is a must that you not over do things....and it does sound like you are making wise choices.  Larry, I know you served a very important purpose for the man in Wal Mart today...so happy you could be there for him.

JACKIE, Happy "birth" day to you, 47 years ago.  I, too, had a child in 1969.... My oldest son, born in Germany, but it was in February. I found out I was pregnant with him in London while we were living in England.    I, too, am sorry that you do not have a good relationship with your daughter and grandson.  Very sad!

Mark has arrived and will spend the night with us.  He and his lady will be moving to Arizona the end of the month.  He will start as the first assistant to the head pro at a golf club and Megan is a RN and will be working at a hospital.  He will be packing up what items he has here and taking them to his place in preparation for the move.  He really likes his job here but golf in Colorado is seasonal, of course.

JOAN, I am sure happy to read that you are getting some rain.  Also happy Linda is there even though you really have very little precious time together.

Congrats to you, AMY, for getting that painting job accomplished.  I sure wish I were more like you.....you put me to shame for all you accomplish!  You are a very caring person.

HAL, great  news to read from your doctor and good news that you got a new remote for no out of pocket money.  You are a winner!  But of luck tomorrow on the ultrasound.

I hope everyone has been enjoying their day.

Just a small note. Hillary's personal doctor and the Physician that treated her when she was at the state Department last year both said all this fuss is political in origin. Hillary had pneumonia and didn't take the doctor's order to rest. Anything else is simply not credible.

It's similar to me saying, " I know exactly what Larry's medical condition is."  Not credible is it?

Gloria

LLOYD  I did get some sleep, woke at 11.

JOAN  Hard to believe I was here before you this morning. I am late for breakfast and just had a snack before bedtime. Love the Coffee Spill. Smart 4 year old. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  wish I had a fraction of your energy.

PHYLLIS  I have been tired all day. Even moving a little was too much today.

LARRY  I am glad I taught my 3 how to 3 how to do basic cooking and how to keep a clean home. Now that the oldest is retired he has been making supper so his wife does not have to when she gets home from work. Second son does almost all the cooking in his household and is a great cook. My daughter in some ways reminds me of my mother the way she cooks. She is named for my Mom and inherited my Mom's cooking skills.

JUNE  I joined you in dozing today. That is about all I did this afternoon. Mu older son was in the delivery room when his son was born by caesarian section. His father was at home when our first was born.

JOAN  you sure had a short visit with Linda.

JENNY  I had no reason for not sleeping last night and the few hours I got this morning left me hardly doing anything.Felt more tired than is I got no sleep at all. Wonderful that Mark has a job as a golf pro at a course now. I am sure he will be a head golf pro soon.

PATRICIA  like most of us I will be happy when the election is over. I am so tired of the mud slinging both are doing. Really turns me off of both of them.

The Ontario Nurses' Association is running a campaign regarding cutbacks in nursing care and bed closures.  One of the ways in making their concerns public is through a series of TV commercials and I happen to be in one of them. It takes a few seconds to download.
