Good Morning all, I have a free morning, so I will make another attempt to get myself reregistered with Von's for my grocery order. I hope I will not get as frustrated as yesterday, because it's hard on the blood pressure.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Gloria--I got my flu shot this morning at the doctor's.  It was another time of hurry up and wait.  I was seen 1 hour and 15 min. after my appointment time.

Mary Ann--I usually get my flu shot at Walgreens, but this appointment happened to be at the time of year to get them, so I got it.

June--Good luck getting straightened out with Von's so you can order groceries online.

Good afternoon, just got home from the hematologist, it is the first time since Jan. that I did not have to get a shot. My b lood count was up to 12.1, but I have to go back Oct. 10th to check again.

I get my flu shot, next Monday when I go for my Gen. checkup.

To morrow is Homemakers and I have to go, as I have a large class I am teaching.but the are saying gale warnings and heavy rain is in the forcast.

It is quite cool and rainy to day and I wore a suit.

Joan, thanks for goodies.

MARY ANN....
...well I sure got acquainted with some villages and places yesterday that I had never heard of.....Come Monday I shall be hopping over the border into another County I have never set foot in before...Wiltshire...to pay a visit to another MS Therapy Centre that is 47 miles away...

Mary Ann

Jackie, they say travel is broadening so you are getting quite an education of the areas around  you.

While I contact my doctor's office about a flu shot, I don't get it directly from his office unless I'm there for another reason.  I'll have to e-mail them to refresh my memory.  Joan, I did not have to wait long the last time I got the shot there.

Mary Ann

JaneS

i just want to tell you that I'm probably not going to get my computer back until Monday.  I called them today and they said they had some trouble with the screen that I left on there.

Today it's been raining all day and I really feel a bit "puny" so I decided to try and finish up what I was doing yesterday when I got home from work. Do you know how hard it is to finish doing NOTHING?  You never seem to be able to finish that. And I have yet to determine when or if I,m finished.

I sure hope you are all having a better day than I am. Gloria, I have an idea how you felt without your computer.

Please enjoy your day Everyfriend.

CallieOK

JanieS,  So sorry about your computer woes.   :hugs:

It's a beautiful day and I've spent most of my morning (not necessarily what anyone else would call "the" morning  ;)) outside - pulling annuals out of the big pots.  That required soaking them first because it's been so dry and the root balls were very large and tough.
Will have to wait 'til evening for the other big pot.  It's near the hummingbird feeder and there are too many bees that didn't appreciate my interrupting their "work".
Not many hummers around now so, although I'll leave it out for the migrating stragglers, I doubt that I'll be filling it again until next year.

Jackie,  the distance you drove yesterday would be like "going across town" for me.   I'd love to go wandering around the English countryside.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

JoanFL

Just a quick note before I get blown off the air again--storming and PC plus TVs went down.

Wow, I have never seen it so quiet in here. I have to reregister for my Grocery shopping..I got so frustrated and so worn out yesterday that I decided to just stay away for another day, and then if I can't manage to get back on, I'll call Gary and see if he can help me out. I don't feel I should ask one of our techs here to do that for me...it is more of a personal problem than an electrical thing.

I did go down for lunch today, and brought half of it home for supper. They give monstrous servings. You can request half a serving, but I prefer to take it home and eat in my own place. Then I went to our Choir practice for singing at Christmas programs, then on to balance and exercise class.

I received the flu shot yesterday but noticed today that it was a bruise about the size of a quarter, plus a slight swelling, so I went down to the clinic to have it checked. Two nurses looked at it, and on said, "Oh.....I did that !" And she looked so embarrassed, the other nurse said, "You should have done it below the muscle." The one that gave me the shot looked like she was about to cry, so I assured her it didn't hurt and not to worry about it. I bruise so easily, so one more doesn't bother me.

Bis, I hope your storm is bringing much needed rain to your area. I'll check it out on the computer to satisfy my curiosity.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

Well Joanie, careful what you wish for.  I know, you wanted the rain but not the storm.

Janie, sorry you are not up to par.  Hope they get your puter fixed pronto and you get back on line with a machine you are comfortable with.  But don't forget on your pad you can enlarge you type by spreading your fingers.

I have been watching the Houston/U. Conn game and Houston is putting it on them.

June, hope you get you Von's problem solved.  Have you tried telling them you forgot password and let them send you a reset?

Bed time for bozo, my old pup is mopping around looking for the wife, she worries like a human if one of the family is missing.

Nite, nite, God Bless and sweet dreams.

Vanilla-Jackie

HALKEL....
...our Benji is just the same as your pup, moving around the home, checking to see where each one of us are......maybe a sign of insecurity...

This morning I am up my original time and posting at 5.50 am...with first cup of tea of the day sitting on my computer table...

JoanFL

Good Friday morning, Everyfriend, on this last day of September.   There's omelets to accompany your coffee or tea. Make it a good day!!

CEO Speech

The CEO was scheduled to speak at an important convention, so he asked one of his employees, Jenkins, to write him a punchy 20-minute speech. When the CEO returned from the big event, he was furious. "What's the idea of writing me an hour-long speech?" he demanded. "Half the audience walked out before I finished."

Jenkins was baffled. "I wrote you a 20-minute speech," he replied. "I also gave you the two extra copies you asked for."

Food For Thought

Circle of Light

By Keith Mannes
Scripture Reading: James 2:14-26

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
James 2:26
God started sending homeless travelers and misfits of all kinds to the small church we had started. One of those people was Dwayne.
Dwayne was tall, with swept-back silver hair, a black-leather vest, and cowboy boots. He was a soft-spoken, gentle, and wise believer. Sometimes, however, his alcoholism would attack like a shark and take him in its jaws to the depths. Nonetheless, my friend Ron welcomed Dwayne into his home with us.
One night Dwayne’s shark came, with the result that he got beat up in a bar. I found him passed out in a cheap hotel, with his face bludgeoned and vomit all over his shirt. I called church member Dick, and Dick called Ron, and they called Andy, and then they called me back, with instructions: “After you’re done, come to Ron’s.” So I let the air out of all the tires on Dwayne’s car so he couldn’t go anywhere, and I left.
It was late at night when I drove into Ron’s driveway. But I could see, through the front window, that all the guys were there, huddled under a light at Ron’s table. They were making phone calls, trying to find a treatment facility. Ron said he’d pay, and the other guys said they’d help.
I remember them sitting in that glowing circle of light. Sanc¬ti¬fication means that you do Jesus-like things in the world.
Lord, the needs of people overwhelm me. Show me which ones to get involved with. Help me to help you serve them with your love, please. Amen.

JaneS

good morning Everyfriend. It 54 degrees and raining here. It supposed to rain right through the night. Not going to be a pleasant day but we do need the rain.

Hal. I know about making the print bigger but then I have to scroll back and forth to read and I think that's what makes my eyes so tired. Morning is the best or right after I've napped.

Coffees ready if anyone wants to join me.

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Temp is 54° here at the moment. Yesterday was a long day, we spent from 11:30 to 1:50 in the hospital, blood taken ,questions answered ready for Oct 7 th when hubby has to go in for an operation.

Today I will take the gazebo down when the dew is off of it plus do a tidy up and sew.

Jane, I will join you but will bring my tea.

Joan thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Lloyd.  Glad you enjoy using Skype.

Janie--Good morning.  We had so many short storms yesterday afternoon and early evening.  They made my computer shut down and all the TVs go blank.  I finally got so tired starting things up again that I just went and watched TV.  I'll join you for coffee.

Good morning, Amy.  You sure did have a long day yesterday.  Take it slow and easy today getting the gazebo down.

Good morning.  We just MIGHT have some sunshine today.  That would be nice.  Flooding south of us around Ft. Bragg/Fayetteville is still bad.  They had 10 inches of rain day before yesterday.  We had just a little over an inch here at my house.

No plans today except minor household things and stopping now and then to watch the Ryder Cup.  I always like that tournament....it can get very exciting.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, you can pour me a cup.  Black

Phyliss, that is exactly what I plan today.  Just to watch some of the Ryder cup.
Did you see this yesterday?   http://www.fox9.com/sports/208674339-story

Sounds like some of you are getting some bad storms, hope no one suffers any damage or injury.

Got to get around and open the house up and start my day.  Haven't done much but let the pup out to check the estate and do her business.

Jackie, Lady, my pup, loves all the family.  I swear sometime she is going to wag her rear end off when some of the kids come in.  She is all over them, you would think they were her long lost pups.  Ginger, my chow I had before this one was the same way.  She loved and looked forward to seeing all the family.
Lady is gentle as can be and Ginger was also.

Got to get with it.

Gloria

Good morning again. I was here 3 hours ago and wrote a post but cable went down and I  lost it. No internet, no TV and no phone.  Just because I woke early and felt rested and was here before the sunrise. Cox had to mess up.

Got my flu shot yesterday down stairs. Like the way an RN comes here with the shots. We have to sign up so she knows how many to bring. It was a nice day so some of us sat out on the porch for a few hours. Thar fresh air must have got to me because I was in dreamland by 8:30. Was wide awake at 3:30.

JOAN  thank you for all today's goodies.

JANE  at least with your PC you have good techs working on it, not like the dummies that HP has. All they do is set it back to original settings. I am tired of having to reinstall every thing again.  Would love to join you for a cup of coffee.  Had mine 3 hours ago.

AMY  that pre-op at the hospital  takes too long. Went through that when I had my shoulder done. That was 6 years ago.

JOAN  no storm here, not even raining and Cox went out again. Was out for for at least 3 hours.

Have a good day everyone and hope there is no cable shut down for any of us.

PHYLLIS  we had a little sunshine yesterday but today is back in the clouds and will have rain later.

HAL  that guy was sure lucky with that putt. My son's last dog was like that with me. When I would drive into the yard she knew the sound of my car and she would be at the door waiting for them to open it. I would open the door and she would try to get up on my lap talking the whole time. Then she was like my shadow following me where ever I went. I house sat for them a few times when they went on vacation and she would greet them when they got home but never as happy as when I was there

Good morning, on this last day of September.

Joan, thank you for the omelets this morning.  I will have a cheese one.  Hope your area is finished with the rain and storms,  Looks like another hurricane/tropical storm on it's way up the coast.

It has been raining here for the past couple days.  Supposed to be just lightly today and start to clear off tomorrow.  And, it is still a little chilly.  Supposed to be back to the 70's and sunny most of all next week.

Gloria, we had someone from the health department come to our place to give flu shots, but it was back at the end of August. I called my doctor's office and they said it was really too early. They weren't starting to give them until the end of Sept.   So, I have an appointment in two weeks.

Hal, I am not into golf, but I did see that guy make that shot on the news.  He sure was excited.  I think they said he received $100.  That was easy and quick money for him.

Hope every friend will have a wonderful Friday.

Joy

Hi everyone.  It is 65 degrees here this morning, which is the coolest temperature we have had for months.

Yesterday was a very busy day as Thursdays usually are.  While at the restaurant the follow I pick up on Thursdays litterly had to be picked up as he lost his balance and fell backward to the floor.  The only damage was a scraped top part of his hand. He fell into a table that slid away but apparently broke the impact of the fall.  He is a tall man but not steady on his feet.  After my Wisdom group at Church yesterday morning I stopped at the Dollar Tree store to get birthday cards for Pat to use in the card ministry she does for our Sunday School class and finally at Aldi's for some vegetables.  I felt good yesterday so didn't come home exhausted but was sure ready for a rest period.  Pat suggested that we go out to eat dinner and I certainly didn't argue with her.

Joan, we heard from Scott again last evening.  He still had the migraine but was able to keep food and water down and was at work just trying to keep from thinking about the headache.

June, I hope you got your grocery ordering re-registered.  If not perhaps the young lady at your living facility would help you again so you don't become so frustrated. I bet the young lady wouldn't see it as a burden but something to make one of the resident's life more enjoyable. When I had my flu shot the other day the pharmacist told me she had given it in the muscle and I couldn't even see where it had been given the next morning.

Gloria, glad you got to sit out on the porch and visit.  Perhaps during the next few weeks you will be able to do more of that before cold weather set in.

JaneS, sure hope that puny feeling has passed.  It is hard to finish up nothing.

Callie, I decided this morning it is time to stop watering the hanging basket that Pat can see from her easy chair as it is looking bad and no more flowers.  Mine is still on its third season of petunia blooms although the flowers are much smaller.  The Marigolds are still blooming.  I think the hummers are about through here as well as the feeder isn't going down very quickly and I haven't seen one for awhile.

JaneS

im off to greet my public at Wally World. I'm feeling a lot better this morning. After spending most of yesterday napping and doing nothing all day I actually slept through the night. 11 to 7. I haven't done that in a long time. Have a good day Everyfriend.

Good morning, Phyllis.  Enjoy watching golf.

halkel--Good morning.  I saw what was in your link on TV--lucky fella.

Gloria--Good morning.  Sorry your internet went down when you were trying to post.  Is your arm a bit sore from the flu shot?  Mine is.

Joy--Last month when I was at the doctor I asked about the flu shot, and he told me to wait until yesterday's appointment.

Good morning, Larry.  Glad your friend wasn't seriously injured when he fell.  I hope Scott has gotten relief from the migraine.

Janie--Glad to read you feel better today.

Good morning from the Interior, still awaiting the promised snow that has yet to come.

I went visiting and shopping with friends and bought Farrah a large blue ring with a yellow ball inside. I was hesitant as the other cats I've had quickly figured out how to take the toy out of the ring.

Farrah was not impressed although she ignores the balls she already has so I should have known better to purchase a $12.00 toy when she doesn't play with the ones she has, (I sound like a parent!). I tried putting in treats but she smelled them, sat by the ring but made no effort for the treats.

So, I got the idea of sticking in the toy one of her felt mice and playing around with it while she looked on. I then left her alone with the toy. She got that one out after  lying on her back, turning her head sideways and scrutinizing all angles, trying first her teeth and then a paw to lift it out from underneath or on the middle ring opening.

So I think that is a toy she will occasionally play with if I initiate her interest. Ah well, lesson learned. Since she enjoys catching her mice and sitting on her haunches to fling them away, only to chase them down, then why would she play with a ball in a ring?

I was really tired and lay down on the couch to read. I kept finding myself opening my eyes repeatedly so set the book aside for a nap somewhere between three or four. Lo and behold, it was one am when I woke back up, washed my face, went to bed to toss and turn until after three am. I just woke up at eight am.

I had my first and only flu shot in 2005. I had never had the flu but all my friends were telling me to get one. I did and within 24 hours had a terrible, fourteen-day, feverish  case of the flu. First time in my life that I have had chills running up and down my arms and  legs. I decided after that to skip the flu shots and have never had a case of flu since!

JoanFL

Angelface--Like you say, cats are like kids.  You buy kids an expensive toy and they would rather play with the box it came in.  Sorry you had such a bad experience with the flu shot.

Good aternoon, on another bad day, it is raining with gale force winds. Quite cool. Just home from Homemakers.

Did not start off as a good day, first I overslep, as my friend was going to pick me up at 9. Next I had a nose bleed, had to pack that. i was teaching a knitting class to make gloves to day, so had to go to Homemakers, So packed my nose, got half way to Jamesport, and realized I forgot my hearing aides. I had 10 people in the class, two did not know how to pearl (knitting stitch) Now I am home, and nearly everyone said they enjoyed the class.  Of course they were being kind to and old lady. I am lucky just one side of my nose acting up.

Hal, I really enjoyed that video. I will be watching all weekend.

Gloria, it is raining and very windy here, suppose to rain until Wed. We do need it.

Joan, I will have a Swiss cheese omelet, thanks

JaneS, glad to see you feeling better

Larry, glad your friend was not hurt, but I am sure it upset you.

Hope everyone else has a good day. I am tired right now.

Patricia, I have given up buying Taffy toys, she like things like my Jewlery, or my panic botton, she even had that one day, runing across the floor.  Are you alergic to eggs, they tell you not to get the flu shot.

JoanFL

Linedancer--Sorry you had such a bad start to your day.  You're lucky you can pack your own nose and don't have to go to the ER.  Your Swiss cheese omelet is in the "hidey hole" waiting for you.

No June yet today.  Maybe she's busy placing her online grocery order.
