I think it was obvious it wasn't a true story, just beautiful thought provoking...... but someday it just possibly might be......Link....webmd

" One major organ still eludes the transplant surgeon, however: the entire human eye. But if one team of U.S. scientists has its way, that dream may become reality, too.

"Until recently, eye transplants have been considered science fiction," said Dr. Vijay Gorantla, an associate professor of surgery in the department of plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. "People said it was crazy, bonkers."

However, " with what we now know about transplantation and, more importantly, nerve regeneration, we are finally at the point where we can have real confidence that this is something that actually can be pursued and eventually achieved," he said.

Vanilla-Jackie--I would have done something drastic by now.

halkel--All I know is that it is an HP, and she bought it 6 months ago.

Sandy--Thanks for that info.

June--I  didn't see any message from you.

Bis, I evidently forgot to hit post, but the way my mind is working lately I could have also hit delete. I no longer trust myself very much. It is not easy to admit, but there are certainly some brain changes going on. I had a good nights sleep, but fell asleep for about three hours this afternoon.

I hope all is going well with our Gloria de. Has anyone heard any news lately about Long Island ?
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JOAN  glad I called you earlier. I  did call Cox. I was told my Wifi had not been working for 3 months. That is about the time when the so called tech from HP was here. Amazing how they can fix things like that from where ever they are. Now I can see the different lights on it since it is running right again. Thank you for telling me.

CALLIE it is great to be back again. I was getting pretty tired of trying to find something to read in our library. Lot of Harlequin books but that is not my kind or book to enjoy. Heard on the news that quake was felt in many states. You had too many quakes this year.

PATRICIA  if I sent this PC back I have no idea where to send it. Calling HP only gets me someone in India who sure does not know much. Ben transferred to different departments there it is a circle.  My grandson was telling me that HP is branching out into different areas and not concentrating on computers much any more.

JOAN  how about all those friends of this one or that one. I am not interested in anyone else in Facebook except my family. I have not been to it long enough to know the ins and outs of it and my grson set it so I no longer get notifications.

JUNE  no Mac for me. There are several ladies here in their late 90's who put me to  shame. I would not try to keep up with them.

JANE  wish I knew someone who could build me a computer.

HAL  if this was an old computer I could understand problems but the first time it went back I only had it 3 weeks.

PHYLLIS  oh boy make me one of those sundaes. Looks yummy.

JOAN  love A Lost Art. Just copied that one.Good quote. Thank you for today's goodies, I sure missed them.

LLOYD  I will stick with 7 as long as I can.

PHYLLIS  it was a beautiful day here, full of sunshine and a nice breeze. Last I heard tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday we might get rain from Hermine. Tomorrow is supposed to be windy, too. They stopped ferries to the is;ands and all beaches are closed and people warned to stay out of the water because of riptides. Like you I have been wondering about Gloria de.

LARRY  thank you for the link, I will look it up.

DON  hope you enjoyed the wedding. Bubble's visit must have felt much too short for both of you.

Gloria de  they showed the ocean here on the hews and it looked like pretty big waves already on the south coast area. This is another time I live as far from the ocean as I can get and still be in RI. I always loved being at the ocean, peaceful there.

JACKIE  that is such a sad story. That daughter was a selfish ungrateful person.

JOAN  thank you for relaying my message. I have several hundred emails to check and hope this coming week I can get to them. You must remember the email you got from groups when you were into PSP. I just hope this is about the end of my PC trouble. Cannot take much more of it. I thank God my grandson helps me when I have problems. Since his job is working at/on computers all day and I know he does not like doing it on his own time he has always come when I need him. My son and DIL did a wonderful job with him and the one they adopted. Both were taught to respect others and they amaze me when I see others their ages who respect  no one.

JACKIE  at times I felt like throwing this thing out the window but then I cannot pick it up.

HAL  I went online to HP and ordered this poor excuse of a PC. Every time I have called it is always to India and they do not know much. Even the tech they sent here to restore to original had only been into computers for 7 years and acted like he knew all about them. I asked my grandson if he knew everything about them and he said no. He was interested in them in high school and that is what he studied in college. He was hired as in intern at the company he is still with when he was in his last year at URI. I ordered it in the beginning of February. Got it 2 weeks later and 3 weeks after that is when it froze and even my grandson could not fix it and it was sent back. That was the first time I asked to have it replaced.  When it came back I started getting the blue screen and it would reboot faster than I could read what it said. Finally did one night when I went to shut down and it came up, said the system was corrupted. That is when they sent 4 disks to me and a tech came to restore to factory settings. He was such a know it all, he gave me his name and phone number in case I ever needed someone to work on it. Glad he did. After he left I noticed the tower was on the floor and other things not plugged in. I called hi the next day -a Friday- and he said he would be here on Monday. I told him I would not be without the PC over the week end so he came from Cape Cod at the rush hour. I did not feel bad about that. There is only one bridge off the Cape and it is a mad rush most of the time. Anything else you want to know?

JACKIE  my last PC was an HP like this one HP. I had no problems with the other one except I was almost out of space and memory. That one was only about $300 and this one more than double the cost.

SANDY  so far this PC has not had me crying. I have thought some choice words about that company though.

I think I have written a full length book this evening so better say good night. Thank you for being concerned. Nice to know someone cares.

Jeanne Lee, I was thinking the same thing when reading what Gloria de said about watching the waves.... Don't know why, I've been on the coast all around the US, and I feel like crying, such a saddness it is overwhelming.  I feel like all the air is sucked out of my lungs.  I never told that to my husband or anyone else, doesn't make sense because I am spellbound by the beauty, I just feel like crying.

I came to pick brains today, been driving myself crazy trying to remember a trick race car driver of the early '50s.  He came to the MO State Fair those years, and was competition with Joie Chitwood shows.  I think his name started with "S"....or maybe "A".... I've Googled every subject or way I can think of but can't pull up the name.  I looked through history about Joie Chitwood in hopes of finding where they did shows together.  If I remember, one show they kept out-doing each other, riding on 2 wheels longer than the other, etc.  I can almost see the writing on the side of the cars~   I know I'd recognize his name if I saw or heard it, never drew a blank like tonight.

Gloria, so glad you are here today, don't think anything we buy anymore is without problems.  After my ordeal with that last Toshiba that I paid well over $1,000 for & ended up sending it back after my son spent a whole day online with their tech help to prove they left out an important part.... I got a full refund and have not been tempted since to shop for another as long as these old things can hold on.  I need to have him add more memory (or something) to the oldest one.... it was top of the line when I bought & now thumb drives are 10x the size.

Been a very long day so need to feed cats and put stuff away and get to bed.  Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. Shirley

I had a looooong nap today, so feel sort of friskey tonight. Nothing going on I can get involved it, and tomorrow is an actual blank as to activities...nary a soul is stirring, not even a mouse. I took a later walk tonight around the park area, saw all the lamps lighted in the many apartments, but not a person in sight. Everything was lighted but closed in the club house, the only thing that stays open is the clinic downstairs, but it is still all lighted up. So, since I can't get into any trouble, I shall get ready for bed and book.  Have a peaceful night dear hearts. I love you all and wish you Joy, and Health and Peace. June

Proud of You

As one of the relatively few female airline pilots, I've often been mistaken for a flight attendant, ticket agent, or even a snack-bar employee. Occasionally people will see me in uniform and ask if I'm a "real" pilot. Still others congratulate me for making it in a male-dominated field. One day I was in the restroom before a flight. I was at the sink, brushing my teeth, when a woman walked through the door and looked over at me. "My sister would be so proud of you!" she remarked.

I figured her sister must be in the airline business, so I smiled and asked why.

Replied the woman, "She's a dentist."

Under New Management
(Author Unknown)

As I was driving today, I couldn't help notice a sign outside a restaurant that read "Under New Management" in bold, colored letters. The owners were trying to convey the message that, even though the restaurant looked the same, perhaps even had a similar menu, something was definitely different.

It wasn't easy to spot the change from a distance. My first impulse was to go inside and question why things had to change. Why couldn't the new owners just pick up where the former left off, keeping it "business as usual"? The answers were simple: the former owners went bankrupt; they lost touch with what was important; their accounts were out of order.

In order to bring it back to its former glory, the old had to be replaced with the new. Some things, like the design, had to change gradually so others could become accustomed to it. Others needed immediate attention. But it had to come "Under New Management" for it to be effective.

That's the same way it is with us, beloved, when we finally come into a relationship with God: we have to come under new management . . . God's management! It can't be business as usual! God places a sign outside our hearts and begins to phase out the old things, those things which caused spiritual bankruptcy; those "accounts" in our lives that were in disarray. They are the past.

These "accounts" are not important any longer, nor do they have any bearing on God's ability to bring about change in our lives. And maybe we won't suddenly wake up and see someone else in the mirror . . . maybe from a distance others can't notice the change, but make no mistake about it: we're under God's new management!

It might not always seem like it. Our life's menu might sometimes seem like it's unchanged, but we can't be fooled! In some areas, we'll experience immediate change. In others, change will be gradual. Before long, however, the new Owner will bring in more changes, a more palatable menu for our lives and spiritual abundance. That's Jesus' heart and desire for us.

"What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!" 2 Cor. 5:17 (NLT)

"For what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter into another!â€"Anatole France

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special Good Morning to you Joanie and to our friend Jackie across the ocean.

I'm going to a picnic at my daughter's this afternoon...the last of the season!  It's going to be a small group...my daughter and her husband and his boss.  His boss is a rather young new widower and they've tried to include him in some family activities so he won't grieve too much.  He's a nice young man and I enjoy his company.

I'm going to go and get my tomato sauce cooking so I can get it into jars and on the shelf ready for the snow.  I hope the snow isn't forthcoming in the near future but my mother always used to say she was canning things for "when the snow flies'.

Have a lovely freedom from "Labor Day" Everyfriend!

Good morning, Janie.  How nice to include the young widower in the picnic at your daughter's home.  Our HOA is having a BBQ at the clubhouse.  I won't be going because they are having it outside around the pool, and I just can't be outside that long in this hot and humid weather.  That sauce will be great to have when the snow flies.  I don't think that will happen for some time yet.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good you finally got your appointments straightened out.  I liked "Under New Management" too.

Good morning, Amy.  Must be your animals were telling you they wanted breakfast.:)

Good morning everyone, no rain yet. Just heard it will be starting soon but will add up to less than an inch in this area but it will be windy. Going to grandson's home this afternoon but might end up being a cook in instead of a cook out.

SANDY  the last Dell PC I had was a real lemon ad they did nothing to help. HP has not done much but still better.

SHIRLEY  after a storm at sea I used to love going to the shore and watching the waves crash over the ledges or on the beach. To me it was always calming. The last HP had all the memory it could have and it was fast running out. This one has 3X the memory of that one and a 1T hard drive.

JOAN  a scone will be great with my coffee this morning. Under New Management is a different way to look at how our lives have changed over the years. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  feels great to finally get back “home” to the SS.

Don't know how late I will be getting home today so might just head to bed.

Good Morning Everyone!

Nice to see all the J's present and accounted for.  Hope Lloyd shows up feeling much better.  Joanie, I wish you could enjoy some time around the pool.  Don't they have an a/c clubhouse you could retreat to?

We are going to my Granddaughters home late evening for a meal and family gathering.  Hopefully some BBQ, but don't know if that is on the menu.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everyone on a beautiful Labor Day Monday.  Yesterday was so enjoyable as it didn't get very hot.  Other than going to Sunday School and Church and getting some lunch to bring home I really didn't do anything else yesterday.  Today I plan on returning and replacing the new pillows at COSTCO if they are not closed for the holiday.  I can do that on my way to my Monday meeting at noon.  I shouldn't have to do much cooking today as we have leftovers from the rotisserie chicken and other items from our meal Saturday evening.

Joan, fortunately COSTCO is close to us, just three or four miles away.

Jackie, that was a nice story even if it couldn't be true as some other deformity could have been substituted and the message would be the same.  Glad you didn't waste your time on another appointment that wasn't needed.

Gloria,  it looks like you did get your computer rebooted late yesterday evening.  I have experienced several times a turning on the computer or doing a reboot and it would load.  But I found it if tried two or three times it would finally reload and work fine.  I hope that is what you experienced.  It is frustrating and makes no sense but it has worked for me.

Sandy, glad you are getting help with your new phone.

Shirley, the stunt driver wasn't Evel Knievel was it?

Joan, I really like the Food for Thought for today.  I have copied it and will put it in my devotional folder.

JaneS, I hope you enjoy the picnic.  It is nice of your daughter and husband to include his boss in the picnic.  I sure wish something like that could happen for our son.  Right now his life seems to revolve around us, his dog and cat and his work.

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  Even if it rains and you have to be inside at your son's you will be with family.  That's great!!  I'm so glad you are back with all your equipment behaving.

halkel--Good morning.  Yes, we have a huge clubhouse, but since the get together is outside, I'd be all by myself inside.:)  Enjoy the time with your family.

Good morning, Larry.  It's nice you have leftovers and won't have to cook today.
It would be nice if your son could find some social life around his age.

Another beautiful and thought provoking short story.....there are no claims as to whether the story is fact or fiction, just make up your own minds....

Sharing Happiness......

" Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths, only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
