Every once in a while, I hear a piano piece being played and it includes "Twinkle, twinkle, little star".  I know the piece wasn't written for the poem, but the music is what you sing when you sing the song.

It is so nice to see so many people returning.  I had a little trouble getting in, but finally made it.  I've since changed my User Name so people don't address me as matock so often.

Mary Ann

Mary Ann--It's so nice to have you back.  I promise I will never call you Ma Tock.:)

Mary Ann

Joan, you would be surprised how often I was called Ma Tock at work.  Norm's first wife was Joyce and her initials were JLT and she was referred to as Jilt.  I don't mind being addressed as matock, however, when I always signed my name, I didn't see why people didn't use it.  If I know the name, I try to use it instead of the user name.  Thank you.

Jeanne, I used the email under your profile,
Now I have a question. I took a picture of myself with my iMac photobooth. I have it on my desk top. Now how do I enter it in the Gallery and/or put it by my email ? Or am I trying to do the impossible. I tried to enter it in the Gallery, but it would only put in a bunch of letters and numbers, and told me it was not acceptable. Sorry I am such a pest.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann--I try hard to call people by the name they prefer.  When I was young, being the twins John and Joan, folks called us Jack and Jill.  I really didn't care for that.  My twin went through life being "Jack" but I got rid of the "Jill" long before I went to school.

June--Sorry you're having so much trouble with your photo.  I haven't found mine yet.

Joan, my "old" picture just appeared when I logged on this morning.  I want to change it but can't remember how :).

Redbud, I have a new one on my desk top that I want to use, if I ever learn how to do it.

I don't remember if there's a picture by my name or not.  I guess I'll find out when I post this.  If there isn't a picture, there never will be because I don't have one to put there.  I didn't do it the last time and if I did or sent it to someone to do, I sure as heck don't remember.

MY TAXES ARE DONE AND ACCEPTED!  I'm so relieved.  I always worry until that's all done.

It's so good to be able to stop by here and check up on all my friends.

Hi Everyone
Nice to see everyone posting.

Gloria

JOY  thank you. The other photo was an old one. Couldn't find it so used this one.

MARY ANN  I have never called you matock. I knew it stood for Mary Ann Tock. You always sign Mary Ann at the end of your posts. I prefer using people's names.

JOAN  I am wondering if Jackie/Vanilla will think we are gone. Don't know if she will have a new email address or what. I had to look for the photo I used but could not find it. Cropped this one from a photo taken at my grandson's wedding. Of course I could have used an even older one

JANE  now that is always a great feeling when you get your taxes done and sent in. Even better if getting a nice refund.

KELLY hello, how are you doing?

Mary Ann

Thank you Gloria.  By changing my user name there can be no mistake as to my name.

We've had some hard rain here tonight, but we are not expecting any violent weather.  I have been watching the weather channel because that's the most interesting (to me) thing that is on TV tonight.  I think the storm, or at least tornado, missed Callie.

Mary Ann

Andie

larryhanna, Callie and Gloria, thank you for the welcomes.

The new great granddaughter is the first female addition to this family in 21 years.  She is also the first granddaughter on both sides of her family, who have large extended families.  We figure this child's feet will not touch the ground until she is about four!

We are in the SE corner of Arkansas.  Severe storms have been forecasted for most of the state all day but, so far, they have bypassed  us.  Either the natives are restless or thunderstorms are brewing in the distance and the tornado/flash flood warnings just popped up on the tv.  The water has not completely receded from our 20 inches of rain a few weeks ago.  We are sitting high and dry but there was so much water on the street that we had to drive across the street to take supper to our shut-in neighbor.

JaneS

I forgot about Jackie!  If no one has been in touch with her since she moved, is there anything at all that we can do to reach her?

Andie, I usually don't repeat what others have already said.  I guess I'm not a very good communicator but I'm glad you've begun to participate in the Soda Shoppe!  We're a friendly bunch and we always like to welcome new friends.

Kelly, it's good see you posting here again.  Come by often!

I just stopped in to say....

Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep peacefully and wake to a happy tomorrow!  It feels good to be able to say that again.  Good night just isn't the same when you can't share it with friends.

I found an old email address for Jackie and sent her an email, telling her about the S&F problem.  Only problem is she may not have the same IP where she moved to.

Off to bed.

Rammel  that's an  interesting take on the word "putz." It's Yiddish as you probably know and I've only heard it in the most derogatory context (idiot, jerk, etc,) It's also an obscenity.

Hi Andie. I recall you from those late night chats in the chatroom. Nice to see you again

It is one of those words that can get you in trouble, if used in the wrong place and under the wrong conditions. I generally wouldn't call someone that, but using it as my son did (as is most common around here) meaning he was doing nothing very meaningful is acceptable.

CHUCKLES

Unnecessary Roughness

A man took his wife, who had no interest in football, to the opening game at the local university. The home team was battered all over the field by the more dominant opponents. At one point, the referee blew his whistle; the call was "unnecessary roughness."

"You mean to tell me," the woman said to her husband, "That all that roughness up until now has been NECESSARY?"

Food For Thought

The Rooster
(By Peder Eide)

You know the story. Jesus predicts that Peter will deny Him 3 times and when he does a rooster will crow. Peter in all his confidence says, "No way Lord, I would never do that!" Of course Jesus knew it, Peter did it and the rooster crowed. Then in the Gospel of John, Chapter 21 we read where Jesus reinstates Peter after His resurrection asking him three times if he loved Him. Peter says, "Yes!" 3 times and Jesus without hesitation says, "Then feed My sheep."

What did Peter think of when he heard the rooster crow in the years after that? You know he heard it. The rooster never goes permanently silent. Did he remember his screw up, his failure, his absolute falling on his face when His Lord needed him? I think only for a second. I would tend to believe that reflecting on Peter's words that he would write and the life he lived, his thoughts would go to John 21, where Jesus restored him remembering how far God has brought him. Peter was commissioned to feed the sheep. He did not wallow in the guilt; he lived a "Jesus freak" type life of a man who was restored. That's what Jesus died for.

What about you?

When you experience a memory through a smell, song, picture, location, calendar date, tradition, etc that brings back a hard time, mistake, failure, painful moment, what do you remember? I ask myself as much as you because I am convinced that God does not want you and I to have a huge pit in our stomach forever and degrade ourselves or feel sorry for ourselves. That can take our eyes off the cross, the prize, and we will miss so many divine moments. Jesus died for all of the "As Is" moments we have. WE ARE REINSTATED!!! What if you focused on how far God has brought you? Look where you were and now where you are. God is good. Really.

The next time you hear the rooster crow in your own life, remember, amidst the scars, God never left you where you were at, has showed Himself to you time and time again and has reinstated you through the cross.

Feed His sheep.

June, go to the gallery.  Click on 'add picture' and then direct it to your deskto and name of your photo. once it is there you can post it in a discussion  by clicking on the image, then select everything in the "BB Code" box under "Image Linking Codes". After that just paste that code here.

Good morning everyone...
So nice to be back here with everyone. Liquid sunshine here this morning found that out as both dogs brushed up against me when they came in.
Daughter in love is coming today for a visit, a short one but we have a lot planned for the day! She wants to cut up fabric for another quilt and tomorrow we will hit a fabric sale

Joan thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning from NC.  A cloudy morning here with the forecast of rain. I'm trying to decide if I really need to go grocery shopping this morning.  I have a hair appointment this afternoon that I probably will keep because it is getting to the point that I can't see.

It is so nice to see each and everyfriend returning here.
