This is just a quick "Good Morning Everyfriend!" because the boinger has already gone off and it's time to feed the doggies.  Then they'll want their walk and I'll have to get ready for my appointment this morning.

I hope you all have a great day, feel better, do more or whatever it is you need in your life today!

Good morning; it's hushed in here this morning. I hope everyone is doing well and just busy with adventurers!

CallieOK

Good Morning from a wet, icy, freezing, tree- limb- popping central Oklahoma.

This is being called an "Historic October Ice Storm" with 3 phases - lasting 3-4 days.  Biggest issue is that trees still have green leaves and that makes the 1+ inch of ice forming on branches even heavier.  Trunk even split off from one neighbor's tree.

Lots of folks without electricity; fortunately, mine is still on....for now.

I'm keeping my cell phone and Tablet charged at 100% and have several e-books downloaded. Also have several things that can be eaten without heating if necessary....and there's always the good old PB&J!

Onward and Upward....

Carol

Some time ago, I mentioned Don's health issues - still the same.  He goes to the VA soon - that is always a long day.

Winter is here.  That snowfall really helped fire fighters in the hills.  Unfortunately one more fire started.

One couple near Grand Lake took their horses and dog but couldn't find a trailer for their pet bison.  They had to leave feeling so anxious about their huge pet.  Never fear, the firemen took turns feeding their pet.  I love that story.  Guess that the big one couldn't enter the house - how would you potty train a bison??? ;)

We are OK.  Thankful to be in the house - able to have groceries delivered (I singed on when winter ice showed.  It works great for me - thankful for any help.

No matter how the national vote goes - we will be alright!

A good Tuesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND from a sunny but C❄️LD Colorado.

Thankfully we received enough snow to justify the frigid temperatures but dang, it was really cold❄️  All I can do is dream about getting out of here for the winter....feeling very sad about the lack of a winter home for us to go to😢. Trying to find a rental in a warm place, but not finding much we feel we can afford.

My pot of beans was absolutely delicious on Sunday.  We sure enjoyed them.  The parents of Oliver came to pick him up yesterday afternoon and brought us a big gallon bag of pork ribs they served while in Brekenridge with their family.  It included home made Mac and cheese that was wonderful, so no cooking necessary yesterday😍

Oldest grandson ended his 2 week quarantine due to a fellow football player testing positive to the virus, and on that same day our granddaughter went into Q as a fellow classmate tested positive! They both were tested this morning and both tested negitive🙏 The numbers seem to be rising all over, so I bet we soon will all be back to at least "safer at home"!  Frightening 😢😢

Hey CAROL.  Nice to see your post.  I loved the Buffalo story when I saw it on the news last night😘   You two stay safe and warm🥰

I wish you ALL a good day....

Carol, I remember when I thought Don & Cas were about the same level on health issues. Good that you've helped keep him going all this time. Cas has been dead 7 years.

I am battling the sore knee I've had for several weeks & now a flu bug. Not sure what kid of flu  but this happens in the fall, between the end of allergy season & start of super cold. My sinuses go crazy, so before i so anything drastic I've called for a 'script to see if that will help. If I have to leave the house overnight I will have to have the cats put to sleep, I sure don't want either of my sons to come inside this house. Both are dealing with their own issues. Besides all that, I have a 9V battery going dead & beeps regularly. Happens to be in a spot where I have maybe half a dozen different alarms (to keep cats from going into living room/dining room & entry hall. They never beep when you are close enough to tell which one it is. I heated some chicken noodle soup, need to get a few sips of something down. Have not baked my salmon or cooked the hamburger for spaghetti. Just want to sleep. Y'all take care, I'll check in tomorrow.

JaneS

Frankie and I had a great day together!  It started when she came over here to spuce up her hair and take a shower before we went to the Applied Kinesiologist.  And it ended when we got back after stopping for pizza on the way home.  I was beat but she had a lot more planned.  I remember being 27 and having all that energy!

Now I'm heading for the haystack!  I fell asleep on the sofa and watched the last half of Matlock and the first half of Perry Mason through my eyelids.  Now I'm ready for the real thing.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Gloria

Good morning everyone, looks like I did not post yesterday, boy am I losing it or what? Yvette and I made an applecrisp yesterday and we both had some of it still warm from the oven before she left. So good. Had  4 different varities of apples, always tastes better that way. Had some apples left so put them in the slow cooker and turned it on before I went to bed, all cooked this morning and will let it cool and put it through the food mill.  Putting the peels in, too, make for a nice color to the sauce. It is raining now and much welcomed, the last  days have been cloudy and dark days.

SHIRLEY  sorry the trip you wanted to see the foliage never happened, I never went for a ride this year either, only what I see from my windows or when I go outside for a different view.

JANE  by the time you head for the haystack and ZZZzz's I am already in dreamland most nights. I was so wornout yesterday I was in bed by 8:30.

LLOYD  no snow here but it is raining at last.

CALLIE  hope you don' lose power. We know what  an ice storm is like here. One time we had a small wood stove and heated with that and cooked on the camp stove we had. No fun.

CAROL  glad you are OK . Best for Don.

AMY  good morning.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Guess I'm the new Rip Van Winkle... been sleeping for several days. Fed cats & must eat a bite, my innards are yelling. Got to get across town for the covid test this morning. Dr won't give me a script for antibiotics without that first. Do have the same symptoms as "some" covid patients but this is too familiar to me. Gotta do what we gotta do.  That darn battery is still beeping so I will take care of that as soon as I get back home. Need to get the litter boxrs cleaned out, the house smells. At least above freezing this morning. Plenty of snow & ice on everything so will be careful driving.

Gloria, your apple crisp sounds so good.... I do love apples & bought 4 of the Galas the other day on sale for 99¢ a pound... to fry. For people that have never had fried apples, you can't imagine how good they are. :smitten:

Better get a move on. I know I've been a little fuzzy this week ... but is Amy okay? Don't recall seeing a post from her.

Just waiting for the rain to come in tonight even though the sun is shining this morning.  We will get some of the remnants of Hurricane Zeta but don't expect too much.

I got my haircut yesterday and all went smoothly.  I'm so glad to get rid of all that straggly hair that was hanging on my neck.

Sorry you aren't feeling well, Shirley.  I hope the Covid test is negative and the doctor will give you a script to help you feel better soon.

All is well here and hoping it is for you All, too.

Thank you Jane for letting us know about Amy!

Hope everyone gets to feeling better and that the bad weather doesn't get you down even more than we're currently living with!  I found this article, this morning, from the Martha Stewart website.  She acknowledges the shortage of canning jars.  I will try to put a link here, but I'm not good at doing that.  Fingers crossed please. https://www.marthastewart.com/syndication/mason-jar-shortage-quarantine-coronavirus?did=574938-20201028&utm_campaign=martha-stewart-living_newsletter&utm_source=marthastewart.com&utm_medium=email&utm_content=102820&cid=574938&mid=43625366393
Oh, goodness, I did it, hope it will open for you all.

JaneS

Thanks for the info on the jars, Tome.  Unfortunately, I already knew about the shortage.  Mostly, the only place that has any jars at all is Amazon and they are charging 3 to 4 times as much as they've been selling for in the stores for a couple years.  As much as I needed jars, I wouldn't pay their price.  If you keep your eyes open, some turn up here and there but the lids are non existant.

Today was laundry day.  I did three loads of regular clothes and one of towels and they are all washed, dried, folded and put away.  And I'm tired.  I really don't know how my mother did it when she had to fill the washer and the rinse tubs and then hang the clothes out on the line and then bring them in and fold, iron and put them away.  And that's during the war when she was working a full time job outside the home.  And she cooked, canned, cleaned and raised 3 rambunctious girls, too.  My dad helped but his job was almost an hour's drive from home.  My grandparents were both there and they helped but she did a lot of it herself.

Now I'm going to go hide in the haystack until morning and things begin all over again.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, get-well, day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

well I read everything that was posted seance I was here earlier, during the war my mother worked the grave yard shift at prat and whiteness as a drill press operator, and usually a double shift. then came home and got things in order for us three children's. she was a single nom. I was the oldest and had to get my self ready and go school by my self. we were all tougher in those day's. good night and sweet dreams.

Shirley

Want to let you know my doctor called me just before 10:00 pm to tell me the test results came on his computer & he is shocked to say I DO HAVE COVID! I'm to call him if any change, day or night, he knows I must take care of the cats if I have to leave the house. My kids & grands are stunned since they've all been worried about bringing ME the virus... so now they will need to be tested from contact with me.

So far I've had the fever, head aches/sore body, all the symptoms that come with any other flu. I have hardly eaten for 3 days but managed to get some chicken down (after a drive thru KFC) and ate my last orange. Did not over eat so feel like I've passed the worst. My big concern is how to vote since I opted to vote in person!!!  Will have to call tomorrow about that. I will vote one way or the other, even if I have to slip in & contaminate the whole place!!!  Not serious, will find a way, I'm sure. I've been doing nothing but feed cats & sleep but will check in here at least once a day. Y'all take care, we never know what is lurking in those dark shadows~~~radio show back in the day, remember?

Shirley...
... i am shocked, i really did think you was clear of this Virus when you mentioned you " could smell your house." this proves that one does not necessarily lose their sense of smell as we keep being told we do...Can you backtrack on who you have been in contact with who may have passed this on to you?....take care, look after yourself, you will get through this Shirley...

Lloyd Hammond

well I do not know what you all know. but Nancy has no séance of smell, and has not had for several years,
so I think we all should retain our common séance. from the out side looking in a lot of us have lost ours.
Like that old song said  K sera k sera, what ever will be. settle down and do your best.

Oh SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry and so upset to hear that you have this horrible virus.  You are in my prayers immediately and until we hear that you are safely through it.  I just knew it couldn't be the virus because you are always so careful!  I guess that shows that being careful doesn't always work and we should all be even more careful.

I wish you all a SAFE day!  Be careful!

Reporting in, made it through the night. My daughter warned me to put on notices thru the day or someone would be at my door. Cats have been fed but not me yet, so need to eat & back to sleep until daylight. Rain, which we needed, so above freezing. 2 cats went out but Callie is watvhing at the door to come back in. That darn battery is still beeping so got to take out all of them to find the culpret...before it drives me nuts.

Amy, looks like you are doing great with one hand. Did not know you were considering that surgery. Brave girl!

phyllis

Thinking about you, Shirley.  You will get through this. The cats can take care of themselves.  They are good survivors.  You are most important.  I hope the kids are bringing you food and keeping track of you even though they are staying out of contact.

Hoping for a quick recovery on your hand, Amy.  Take care....we can read your hunt and peck just fine so don't try to hurry your recovery.

We are OK here...just waiting on the remnants of Hurricane Zeta.  Expecting some rain and wind in a couple of hours.  I have a telephone conference to get through with the bank this morning.  So glad I don't have to go out.  The storm is supposed to go through fast and I hope there won't be much damage from it.

Take care, All.

Shirley - I'm shocked to hear that you have COVID, and hope that the symptoms don't get any worse.  Take good care of yourself, and don't worry about your cats!  They will adapt to the circumstances, and will do just fine.  I'll be thinking about you, and hoping for the best.

Shirley

Thanks for all the sympathy, folks, truly welcome. For sure this is the stuff like when we were kids & had fevers, head ache with face skin sore to touch... remember how the lips peel when fever goes down? Coughing up plenty of gunk, that is good, do not take cough drops or med to NOT cough or may go into pneumonia. Body aches (so what's new there?), tummy kind of off, that happens now & then. I do have a comfy spot to sack out during the day, TV to watch or listen to as I sleep... take glasses off so mostly listen & wake up a couple westerns later. Do hope none of you catch this, for sure it has many, many versions. My Gr-daughter sent a text to say she's be by if I needed anything. She feels safe since she once tested positive & only side effect was the blood clots & heavy duty blood thinners for several months. I have not seen her all during that time so not a chance I caught it from her, but I sure don't want her to catch this version! So far I'm holding my own but that beeping battery is about to push me over the edge. Picture it... little old lady crawling around the floor yanking out 9v batteries, climbing on a ladder to get ones out of smoke alarms in the halls...I rationalize these were put in back in the day when people smoked & left cigarettes smoldering in ash trays, but who does that now?  Think they will not go back in! Moving on.......

Shirley, I, too am shocked that you are sick with the dreaded virus.  Sounds as if you're doing all the right things and I send prayers and good wishes for your recovery with NO after effects!

Amy,  your Hunt & Peck looks fine.  I do that on my phone when texting and usually on the Tablet. Very awkward!   Good wishes and prayers for your recovery, also.

Our "Historic October Ice Storm" has moved on but sure did leave a lot of damage.  Rain yesterday cleared ice off all the trees/shrubs.  Behind the fence looks okay as does the tree in my front yard. I drove around neighborhood after taking some mail to the outbox.  Quite a bit of big tree damage at west end of all streets.
We never did lose power but there are thousands of people in the metro area who will be without for...who knows how long?.

Onward and upward.

Yes Jane, I knew everyone here "knew" about the canning jar/lid shortage, but I wanted to post that so you all could see that even Martha Stewart is not always up-to-date on everything. Especially confusing since she is the supposedly the absolute "guru" of anything dealing with home, cooking, gardening, etc.

JaneS

I made a trip (with list) to a local supermarket.  They were having a BOGO on certain meats that I needed to stock up on.  And now I know why I continued to let Cathy do my shopping for me.  First it was clean off the entire cart before going into the store, then it was wash my hands, then it was "don't touch anything you're not going to buy", then it was "where is everything?".  And on the way out it was clean up everything after!  I missed some of the things on my list that I really needed but I got the BOGO meats that I went after.  Now I have to separate and pack them for the freezer.

I also cleaned out two shelves of my kitchen freezer so I can use them for candy making.  And I have to get started on that.  I'm aiming for Nov. 1 as a start date.  The first thing on the agenda is to mix up the centers for the coconut and Pb cups and for the mixed odd cups.  Then the cracker spreading begins.

I also squeezed in a short nap this afternoon and it felt good.  We didn't have Cooper today because Frankie had to be to work at 8 and she was running a bit late so her boyfriend volunteered to look after him while she's gone.  I think Mickie misses him but the extra walking I don't miss.

I'm going to goof off the rest of the day unless something I forgot crops up it ugly head and begs for attention.  Dinner's already cooked.  It's last night's cranberry chicken and rice leftovers.  Then I have to divide the rest of that into meal size dinners and freeze it.

I hope you are all having a better day....especially SHIRLEY.  And I hope ever day is better and better whatever your needs are...expecially SHIRLEY.  And I hope this virus thing doesn't stick around much longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
