Marilyn, Paul is on the horizon at Duluth right now.  I think there will be few people there (I could be wrong) but it is foggy and rainy.  I'm in a dry area so I will watch until he passes by.  Paul is due at 6:25 my time.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann, I was watching too. He arrived at 3:25 here.  I thought there were lots of people, considering that it was raining.  I've read online, that Paul always draws a crown, regardless of the weather.

Mary Ann

For lack of any S&F posts, I watched a ship come into the Duluth channel and it was eerie.  Although my radar site doesn't show any precipitation for the Duluth/Superior area, there were drops on the glass in front of the camera.  Great big drops and some looked like snow drops - they were almost the same shape and they were white.  Otherwise the drops were mostly colored circles.  When the ship came in the channel, all you could see was the lights of the ship.  I could see some people on the sidewalk and I think I even saw some people on the opposite pier.  I went to the other sites and all you could see was the lights floating along.

Lee Tregurtha is coming in in a few minutes.

And I haven't had supper yet so I'll see what is in the refrigerator, maybe the rest of the egg salad I made two days ago and better get eaten.

Gosh, I just wrote a message and I must have forgotten to hit the "Post" box.

I am late getting here and just wanted to say "Hello".

I had a busy day......a lengthy phone call this morning, visit from the nurse, exercises to do, and then my son and DIL came and brought dinner.  He came to take my dining room table apart and will take it to the mission tomorrow.   It was taking up room and I don't use it hardly anymore.  Don't have much company for dinner.  I plan to get a small drop-leaf table.

I hope to get in earlier tomorrow, but did want to say Hello.

Have a good evening.

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a mostly sunny day with a high once again in the lower 90's.  I am hoping to have a somewhat busy day, at least more productive than yesterday.  I want to attend my weekly meeting this morning and then make a quick stop at Aldi's for just a few items.  I also need to stop at the service counter at Walmart and return a substitute that was put in the online grocery order that isn't what Pat wanted.  I may pick up a quick sandwich before I come home so I can rest when I get back.  There are a number of good football games on starting at noon so will watch some of them later this afternoon.

Patricia, hope you got your new office area fixed as you wanted it yesterday.  The folding very light weight but strong folding tables are really nice.

Mary Ann, if I indicated Pat fixed the baked onion in the microwave I mislead you as she only made them in the oven.  I think it was our son who told his mother how to do it.  Like you we haven't yet eliminated any of the other appliances because of the Instant Pot.  When we first moved here we had unused spaces in our kitchen cabinets but no more.

Marilyne, those tsunami's are terrible things where ever they hit.

Joy, you did have a full day yesterday.  Nice of your son to take your table apart and then come and take it away to the mission.  My grandmother had one of those drop leap tables and they worked well in her small living space.

FlaJean

Patricia, that was an interesting article.  I just don’t remember that at all.  The one that is seared in my memory is the 1994 Northridge earthquake in LA.  I can still see that collapsed bridge and the one car that stopped before going over the broken ridge and see the apartment complex where so many died.  My oldest daughter lived in Calif. and our family on the East Coast were glued to the TV.

We had a nice 81 degrees this morning but it is supposed to go up to 90 by afternoon.  At least the sun is shining.😁

Joy, it is so good to hear of your improvement. Sounds like you and Patricia are both rearranging things.  I’ve been doing a few miner changes in my kitchen.  I’m looking forward to getting the Instantpot but not getting rid of any appliances.  I use my microwave and toaster oven every morning.  For such a small kitchen, I’m surprised at how much counter space and cupboards I have.  I don’t use my crockpot too often.  The only item I really don’t use is the food processor my grandson gave me.  I enjoy chopping my vegetables and have only used it a couple of times.  It’s just too much trouble to use.  But I have room for it and maybe one of these days I’ll get enthusiastic and learn the many ways to use it.

Marilyne, my grandmother and several aunts had terrible arthritis in their joints causing them problems in their hands and knees especially, but my mother and I as well as my daughters have escaped that problem.  It is strange how these genes we inherit affect us all so differently.

Mary Ann, be careful when you go to the mailbox.  Since Tom is gone, call someone before you go and then when you get back to the house so they know you are OK.  Things happen so fast sometimes.

DeAngel, I hope you were able to go to your luncheon and you had a good time.

Larry, I hope you are feeling more energetic today and have a nice meeting.

Joan, your weather sounds better than ours right now.  Florida is one place where you look forward to the late fall, winter, and early spring.   The rest of the year you live in air condition.

wjoan

FlaJean, I grew up with normal seasons, <sort of> but have been to Florida enough times to know I could not live there.  The humidity  was the first thing I noticed.

Mary Ann

Jean, thanks for the advice about going to the mailbox.  I'll tell you how I handle it.  In the first place we are not a main street so we have little traffic, however, sometimes it comes all at once.  Anyway, I walk along the garage, then go to the curb around the flagpole, a distance about the same as along the garage.  I stop there and look both ways.  We are close to the main road (Five mile), but a short distance.  I look both ways more than once.  When I am convinced no one is coming, I cross the road and grab onto the mailbox.  I work my way to the front, get my mail (if any), step out in front of the mailbox, look both ways again and again, then head for my condo.  It may seem a long way but it isn't, but I must cross the road and that's why I look both ways more than once.

If I feel my walking isn't stable, I let Tom get the mail.  That is OK when he is home around noon, but sometimes he is gone much of the day and mail would be late.  However, if I don't feel I can make it, I wait until Tom gets home.

This winter with snow or ice, Tom will get the mail.  I've had three funny incidents with ice and/or snow, but I won't go into them.  Needless to say that Tom was horrified when he was here for one of them.

More than anyone wants to know!!!

We are having an overcast day, maybe some rain and we are at 65 degrees now.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Mary Ann, thanks for explaining about getting the mail.  Always enjoy your posts.

Joan, you are so right about the humidity in Florida.  My cousin and her husband used to spend a couple of weeks in Florida every year, but when she and husband retired they retired to Arizona.  She said it was because of the humidity which was hard on her arthritis.

Marilyne

Mary Ann, it's a big production when I walk to our mail box! ::)  Ours is an RFD box the sits out on the sidewalk in front of the house.  To get there I have to first walk down a steep flight of stairs to the outside front of the house, then walk down our very long, steep driveway to the sidewalk, and then around to the street side to open the box. I now walk in a criss/cross diagonal both going down the driveway and back up again.  Going down I'm afraid I will fall forward if I walk in a straight line . . . also hard on the knees.  Going back up, it just seems like an easier climb to also go on a diagonal.  AJ usually gets the mail, but when he's not here, I get impatient - especially if I'm expecting something. Ah, for the old days, when I walked quickly, straight down the driveway, and then a sprint back up again, and on up the stairs at a fast pace.

Jean,  I've heard that most people do not use their food processors.  Everyone I know who bought one when they were first available, have either put them away or given them away.  I've never had one, but I looked at them when they were at their height of popularity, and could tell that it was a kitchen appliance that would be wasted on me.  Since yours was a gift from your grandson, I can understand why you want to keep it.

Joan - Sorry to hear that Candy is still in a lot of pain.  I hope that her appointment with the doctor this past week gave her some answers?  Does she think she will be having surgery for the many cysts?

Joy

Well, I am a little earlier than I was yesterday.  It is a kind of cloudy day, and cooler than it has been.  Supposed to be up in the 80's again next week.

Jean,  I do use my food processor for chopping cabbage, as I do like to make my own coleslaw.  I also use if for making pie crust.  I like my own pie crust , also. (LOL)   However, since I have been back home, I haven't even used it.  The cabinet where I usually keep it  is a lower cabinet and it fits on the shelf, but I haven't attempted to put it back in there yet.  I do like to make up some pie crust to keep in the fridge.  I like to make little cinnamon roll-ups with it, or just roll it out and put some cooked apples in the center and just fold the extra dough up around it.  Almost like a pie, but don't have to fool with a top crust.  Works just as good.  I hope to make up some of that in the next week or so,  I also have a small Ninja chopper that I do use quite often.  But, that is small and  stays out of the way.  I kind of have given up on the Instant Pot for now.  All the recipes I have looked at looks like it makes more than I would use.  And, I don't have a lot of freezer space.   I just have to think a little bit more about it.

Mary Ann, please be careful when you are going for the mail.  It doesn't take much to make a mis-step.  I kind of had to chuckle a little when you said you grab onto the mailbox.  I could just picture you doing that. It sounds like you are pretty careful, though.  Sometimes, tho, I just don't trust myself.  At least, where I only have to go downstairs on the elevator and walk up to the lobby to get my mail.   I need to do that later.

I am moving a little slow today,, as I don't have anybody coming in today or tomorrow.  Kind of can do what I want to do.  But, I do find when I don't have a specific thing to do, I tend to kind of put things off doing.

Larry, I have been looking up some drop-leaf tables and most of them are about 42 in. round.  Of course, I would be keeping it back against a wall with both sides down, unless someone was here to eat.  I think it would be big enough for just me to have a meal at.  I want something that looks more like my china closet, rather than a kitchen table. I saw one on the Walmart website that came with 2 chairs and it is a kind of light oak.  My set that I got rid of had 6 chairs with it.  It looks so bare in that space right now.  I must get back to the de-cluttering that I had started before I got sick.  Clean out some drawers and some other spaces.

Also, another grocery store in our area has started delivering groceries and I did place a small order from them this morning.  And, it is to be delivered between 5 and 6 p.m. this evening.  This store is a little more expensive than Walmart, but I have always liked their produce better than Walmart.  Although, I have been satisfied with what I have gotten from them so far.  However, this other store has fresh seafood, which Walmart does not have.  I can get some fresh, steamed shrimp and fresh fish.  They do charge a membership fee, but when I did join, it was half-price.  But, since they deliver, I will try it for a while.  Will save someone having to go pick it up for me.  And, you can arrange for same day delivery.  I will still use the Walmart shopping also.

I am hoping to get back to doing some crocheting soon. Have been working on another afghan for a good while now, and I need something to keep me from falling asleep if I am watching a movie at night.  I also have been sleeping a lot better.  And, the swelling in my legs has just about disappeared.  I decided not to wear the support stockings today and they still are down. I do still put them up when I am in the recliner.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.   Hope you all will enjoy the rest of the week end. Not very busy in here today.

Hi Marilyne !!    You sneaked in on me.  Sounds like you have an interesting story about how you get to your mailbox.  Where we lived a while back,  I had to go across the road, but it was a very un-busy road, so never really remember having any problems.  And, then of course,  I was a lot younger and more agile back then.

I have good friend who has to walk a short way up her driveway, and she has had several bad falls.  She is in her mid-90's and no longer goes for the mail anymore.  She lives with her son and DIL,  and they don't think she should be using a walker.  That is so hard for me to understand.  She tells me that she just holds on to one of them when she goes out.  I hope they don't regret feeling the way they do.  I keep telling her, it should be her decision,......not theirs.  But, she wants to do what they think she should do .

You have a good day.

As Tom was leaving, I asked if he had checked the mail.  He hadn't but said he would.  He didn't come back with any mail, so I suppose it was junk.

Marilyn, I would have a bad time on your steps without any railing.  I don't even try steps with no railing and someone must help me.  There is a slight, very slight incline in the road by the mailbox, but it is not difficult.  As I said, I look both ways more than once.

Joy, I never bought a food processor but I do have a mini chopper which I used, but Tom does not.  He likes his veggies larger and I would be chopping them for a multi-layer salad (more than seven layers).  If I wasn't careful, I'd have the pieces too small (for some people), but they were edible!

I don't understand, either, the son and DIL not wanting his mother to have a walker.  Wait until they're in their 90s.  I think Tom would like me to get one and I probably am ready but I think I do well without it so far.  As for grabbing onto the mailbox, ours has eight individual boxes and I grab onto the casing around them.  There is a flange at the road side and that is what I grab.  Then I can walk to the "door" side and open our keyed box.  Joy, I am as careful as possible.  I try to walk slowly but after years of walking faster to keep up with those walking with me, it is hard to slow down, but I tell myself to "slow down, you walk too fast, you've got to make the moment last" (Paul Simon?).

Joy, I have a gateleg table that my dad made and I doubt it is 42" with the leaves up although it could be because it seems to be longer than a yard.  It is in the family room now and Tom uses it to put stuff on!

Good evening cloudy all day. watched a cruise ship go out of NYC abut and hour ago and it wa so foggy could hardly see the city.

Mary Ann a lot of people around here have walking sticks they use in the winter and summer.   I use to use a cane for balance, and with that Ieven fell in PC Richards,  My leg that I have the circulation problem just gave way.  Now I have my pushmobile.  My DIL gave in to me a few years ago but I would not use it. I do use it now when I go out, as I can set and rest in the stores.

If I get the small instant pot. I will get ride of my pressure cooker. I Have a small slow cooker, I use at lest once a week I also have a very large slow cooker my husband bought years ago that set in the top of the closet which I cannot reach

Joan you would nor like lONG iSLAND all this week the temp. has be in the 60's and 70's but the humidity has been about 97 thatis why I have to use oxygen

Larry, not much going on with golf since our disappointing showing at the Ryder Cup. I feel sorry for the captain, he is a nice fellow, and reed should not be putting him down, cause he didn't put him in more. Just my opinion

My mind goes 75 MPH,  but
my body only goes 40 MPH,  safely...
But still thinks it can go 75 MPH...

It is a conundrum,  and often
gets me in trouble.

This morning I scared myself,
because I almost fell down putting
my jeans on....  my feet got hung up
and I swayed back and forth and
came so close to falling before I
caught my balance on on leg...

Another case of my mind out running
my body.    It scared me,  so I must
be more careful in the future ..
(No more standing up putting
on my jeans !!!)

Thanks, Sandy, for the lyrics to Feelin' Groovy.  I think my mind goes faster than my body, too, and that's when I tell myself to slow down!

I don't know what I did but all of a sudden the light that indicates the sound is "on" on my computer came on.  My control sometimes doesn't show the volume or mute and I monkey with the buttons an suddenly, the light came on.

Sandy, if I want to go anywhere, such as a store, Tom would have to take me there, then, if I had a walker, I might want to walk, but I'd probably try for a go-cart.  I used to walk around our complex, but I cannot do that now because my legs won't let me.

Just loved that Sandy. Made me smile.

I think I will just stick to my good ol' slow cooker.

Yesterday my sister and I took a bus trip up river to Pine Creek Gorge, took a train ride with lunch on the train, and rode the paddle-wheeler, Hiawatha, at Williamsport before stopping at the Country Oven on the way home. Unfortunately we did not have time to browse through the extensive gift shops after dinner. It was a misty, cloudy day for most of the trip. Also, because the trip was so early (it was originally scheduled for a week later), the trees are just barely showing fall colors. The gorge was so misty/cloudy that we could barely see the other side of the canyon or the Pine Creek below. The train trip was about an hour and pretty nondescript  except for the lunch, which was surprisingly good: half a chicken sandwich with a cranberry/Dijon spread on the side, home cooked potato chips, a rich potato salad, home-made chicken noodle soup (the noodles were also home-made) and cheesecake for dessert. The highlight of the train trip, other than the lunch, was the view at Hammond Lake, where we stopped while eating lunch. By that time the misty day had brightened considerably, but it was still hanging about in spots and it still remained cloudy. As always the meal at Country Cupboard was superb. http://www.countrycupboardinc.com/

Good Sunday morning.

I was up at 6 and decided to just stay up.   I managed to accomplish quite a lot in that time.   However, I am sure some zzzzzzzz's will come along at some point today,

MarsGal,  your day trip yesterday sure sounds like it was nice.   I looked up Williamsport and it doesn't look like it would be too far from where I live for a day trip.  I will have to check it out.   The train trip and paddle-wheel boat trip sounds like fun.  We used to go on a lot of day trips like that and I do miss them,.  I had a friend who would go anywhere as long as I knew how to go. She had no sense of direction and I was a good navigator.  We had so many nice trips together and I sure miss her.  Sometimes we would go for a week end somewhere.  Our husbands were good friends, so they always found something to do themselves.

I don't have much planned for today, except take some mail down to go out tomorrow.

It does look like it will be a nice day.  Hope it is a good one for everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another lovely day here in South Carolina and it is suppose to stay in the mid to upper 80's today.  Our main activity will be attending Church.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back and get Pat for Church.  We will go somewhere to eat out.  We are having only one Church service today as it is World-Wide Communion Sunday and this service will be in the Fellowship Hall and be a blended service.  Yesterday was a very busy morning but got accomplished all that I had listed I planned to do yesterday.  I did watch college football and the teams I follow all won.

I have limited time this morning so will try to keep comments brief.

Jean, not long ago we got a new food processor and it does a quick job.  However, we don't really use it very often.  It just sits on the counter most of the time.  I did have a good day yesterday.  The couple of times my wife went to Arizona to visit my folks with me she got a sinus infection and has no desire to ever go back. I went to see them each of the 7 years they wintered there.

Marilyne, fortunately each house has its own mailbox in our neighborhood so no crossing the road or dealing with a key to open the box.  I am really enjoying getting the morning email from the P.O. showing me what will be in the mail each day.

Joy, our main use of the food processor is for chopping cabbage for coleslaw as Pat likes it finely chopped.  Your apple tartlets sound great.  I hope your new grocery delivering works well.

deAngel, I probably won't watch any golf until they start the new season here in the US.  I have read that Reed is not a well liked player and that isn't good for a team event.

MarsGal, nice you and your sister are able to go and do things together such as your outing yesterday.

Of course,  today the bigger attitude one has,

Good morning from the Interior! This past week has been filled with lots of generalized paperwork and appointments from various agencies and providers of this and that. I think the only remaining appointment is my yearly rental agreement review this month and my biyearly inspection coming sometime in December. That will be it until a similar mini-blizzard of appointments in midsummer.

Today, I have only to wrap a return package for Monday's UPS and some plant care and tidying up. Farrah is enjoying a paper bag that was infused with catnip and sold as a two-piece set. She's not at all interested in catnip but loves hiding in her bag. She has various beds and similar areas that she likes, and I pretend I can't get to her when she's in them. I believe it gives her a sense of security.

I have yet to set up my new table and gather all my computer and office items in one place because I'm still trying to decide how I want to rearrange my living room and I still have furniture I want to go. This past week I haven't had a lot of free time and hope next week is better.

We were forecast for snow today, but it has held off and now on Monday, one-fourth inch of snow is expected with none on Tuesday and none through Saturday so it shouldn't last. Our highs have dropped into the forties and our lows into the twenties and thirties.

Jean what I remember about Northridge is not just the bridge, and loss of life but also a baseball game was being played?

Joan, I don't think I've ever lived in a place with four seasons, certainly not here and not in Texas or the South. My sister in Idaho says she enjoys the four seasons there, yet is thinking of moving to Barcelona with friends when she retires not too long from now. My other sister had after retirement moved to Italy for some years but is now back in the states. I'm not sure what four seasons would entail.

The three main grocery stores have a preorder and pickup but not delivery. That doesn't help one who doesn't drive. Many smaller ethnic stores have had pre-order and delivery for a while with an average $12.00 fee, but I haven't used that either. Taxi companies have long had a pickup service, but that is expensive with the mileage charge as well as a cost. I understand that CPAs and other assistants are not allowed to grocery shop or make similar trips for their clients and the available personal shoppers are very expensive for what they do. I feel sorry for those unable to leave their apartments here.

In other places, I've lived there were either mailboxes in the entryways or lockboxes by the building entrance. One enjoyable perk here is the security slash mailroom available 24/7. It is a large carpeted room with a manned counter where all mail and or packages or food deliveries are left. They hold all mail and boxes until you ask for them. The only nonresidents allowed upstairs are folks you buzz into security or summoned medical personnel. I feel very secure living here.

I've had a chopper and a food processor previously but find I like to chop my vegetables and I have a regular and an immersion blender for liquids or semisolids. Since I use fresh, not canned, other than some frozen veggies, it's just faster. One function of my instapot I like is that dried beans cook in nine minutes, so I always have some on hand for various recipes and additions.

Sandy, I have the same problem. Sometimes it seems as if all I need to do is lean slightly in one direction and there I go. To put on my pants and shoes, I've had to sit down since that 2014 fall. When sitting, I use my opposite hand to lift my leg on my lap to put on and tie my shoes. It's suggested that I purchase one of those long poles for walking and I need to do that before the ice comes this year.

Since I was never able to drive, I depended on friends for any trips and would always pay for any gas used. Each summer I would spend $16.oo for taxis to ride one of the paddle boat excursions or take the bus to the sanctuary to wander the trails and watch for birds and other animals but I haven't done that for a couple of years. It seems that all anyone wants to do anymore is lunch, shop or play cards. We have senior centers, senior trips, etc. but I have yet to go.

It's taken me over an hour to type and post this, so I'll get on with my day and wish all of you a good one!

Edit: Sandy, evidently that is the new morality...

Marilyne

MarsGal, your train and paddle-wheeler trip sounds wonderful, even though the weather was not the greatest. Too bad the Fall colors weren't their peak, but there's always next year!  The food sounds delicious, especially the home cooked potato chips . . . something I've heard about all my life, but never had the pleasure of tasting.

Patricia - It's easy to confuse the big Los Angeles quake in 1993, with the big one up here in SF Bay Area, in 1989. Both of them were about the same magnitude.  It was here, on October 17, '89, where the World Series baseball game was just beginning, when the earthquake struck.  I was settled down to watch the game on TV, and AJ, was on his way home from work.  The jolt knocked the TV to the floor, along with our large china cabinet, filled with breakable objects.  The fridge moved out to the middle of the kitchen, but fortunately did not tip over.  A freeway bridge  in the Los Angeles quake broke in half, in '93, but it was the huge San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge here, that collapsed on one end, and did so much damage.  That's where most of the lives were lost, because the upper deck collapsed flat onto the lower deck, crushing the cars moving below.

I see that my message yesterday about going to the mailbox, didn't make much sense. ???  I was only trying to explain how walking at a diagonal down a steep flat incline, (like my driveway), is much safer than walking straight forward. I don't go down indoor stairs on a diagonal!  My stairway is also steep, but we have carpeted stairs and a strong secure banister, to hang onto, so it's safe to walk down (and up), if I take it slow and easy.  I have a tendency to go into too much detail in my posts!  I will try to shorten them from here on out.

MarsGal, I would love to be able to take a trip such as your sister and you took.  I think we have nothing like that in our vicinity, however, I know there is a Mystery train trip around Coopersville where there is usually a robbery and/or a murder.  I would not prefer an outing like that, but younger people eat them up!!!

Patricia, with four seasons - in Spring you plant your flowers and vegetables, in Summer you enjoy the flowers and vegetables, in Fall you clean up where you had your flowers and vegetables and in Winter you shovel snow.  If you're young enough in Winter you skate and ski and toboggan and sled.  Lakes freeze over (even Lake Michigan has ice near shore).  Then Spring comes and you start all over again.  That's four seasons.

One thing about our four seasons (Michigan's) is that the Spring greens on trees are quite light and as summer progresses, the greens get darker and duller.  Along about now (early to mid-October), the maples turn red, orange and/or yellow, other trees turn yellow, red maples turn dark red and all of this against green fir trees is spectacular.  We're not like New England, but we don't have to travel far for tree color.

Each area of the country has its own beauty and most of us would not change that for anything.

Dot and I went to church today, then to the Cholesterol Pit where we had our usual.  It was World Wide Communion day so I'm sure we shared communion with many of you.

Marilyn, I'll rival you for having to provide detail.  I'm a blabbermouth.

Four Seasons:

It is hard to explain what living four seasons is like except it is almost to guarantee that one
never knows what each season will bring as
we pass through it.

I found that living in the North West,
50 miles  north west of Seattle, in the
rain shadow,  turned out to be extremely
boring compared to my years in New England.

I missed the true four season atmosphere that
we have here in Maine... even though never
knowing from one month to the next,
just what the weather really has in store for us.

Regarding Rollators and shopping with them....
It depends on how much one can walk....

For me,  it is works...  because I can and do walk
around stores with no issue other then bumping
into things... or people bumping into me..   I have
my Rollator set up with a  basket on the seat and a
couple of other shopping bags, so I can get
a pretty good amount of groceries, comfortably and
still have the advantage of using the Rollator to
get me easily around the store and up and down the
isles.

I can still depend on my legs and feet,
it is my sight that messes me up...

I don't need the Rollator around my home,
where other people might find that is the
best time for them to use it...

We are all different and have different needs
as we age ...     I try to keep an open
mind about what progress has in store for
me... and try to take advantage of what
suits me.

Marilyne, thanks for explaining more about the two earthquakes. While normally the more severe earthquakes in Alaska happen in the southern portion, we do feel some of them only not that severely with less to no damage. The earthquakes in the Interior tend to be only sixes or sevens.

The Interior is more of a fire ecology where the southern portion of the state is more volcanos and earthquakes. The western plains have horrible winds and cyclone damage from the seas while the North Slope has rain, wind, and cold.

Thanks for the info on the four seasons. I've understood the terms academically, just not realistically. In the South of the US, it seems one long season whereas in the Interior, (not to be confused with the other three areas of this state); April and May are last of Winter & Spring, June, July, Summer, September and the majority of October are Fall. Halloween through April first is Winter. There simply isn't any clearcut definitions between the seasons other than April and August bring rains. Basically, summer is three months and winter is nine.

Marilyne and everyone else, why limit posts?  I look forward to hearing the posts about your days. And I understood what you meant about diagonally.

Another cloudy day, but only a little rain. In l0w 70's

I look forward to the seasons    Of course I still do Spring house cleaning and of course Fall cleaning. Just this week I got the winter clothes out of the cedar chest and the summer ones are all away till next year.  Now we have autumn leaves to look at and then rake up. The first snow is always beautiful for a few days
