Sandy, I'm sorry you have a cold.  Having one is no fun, especially this time of year.

Larry, I use the Avery 30-labels too.  I was taking the names off a list where I was not going to print all of the names, thus the necessity of doing them one by one.  I am lucky I have Tom here to do them for me.  To begin with, my printer is no longer compatible with this computer (too old) so to print anything, I use my next older computer which is compatible.  I don't do much the easy way.

We are at 26 degrees now and I think we'll be near 30 degrees.

Tom is teaching at a suburban grade school today - I think he said 5th graders.  I don't know when, but he has to attend a funeral for a school friend either today or tomorrow.  And he is to teach tomorrow.  Maybe the funeral is Saturday - I'll have to look so I can straighten his schedule in my own mind.

Tom is finding that his school friends are dying now and Tom is 61.  Death can happen at any age but he hadn't thought about it until recently.  My own class of 250 has less than 30 left but that is after 77 years; Tom graduated in 1975.

I think we had a light snow overnight, nothing hazardous, but I don't venture out in it to get the mail, probably for the winter months.  The cat is content to stay inside and look out the slider.  I have a video from last year of the cat going out on the deck and walking along the edge of the snow, turning around and tracing his steps.  He does not like snow - or cold!

Larry, the man sent me another cookie recipe that he makes once a year.  If a person were to use the entire recipe, it would make about 600 cookies.  He said he makes 150 cookies using only 1/4 of the recipe.  I may post that "just because" but I would not expect anyone to make the cookies.  The recipe came from his aunt, my dad's cousin.

Larrythanks for the information, I will look into that. I a am waiting for Cathy to take me to Friendlys for lunchI look forward to getting out.  The wind is still howling out there , That bothers me more the the cold. One thing about Friendly's she can let me off right at the door, no long walk.

To day one of the neighbors who wife works, came over to see if I needed anything as he was going to the store

Take care everyone, I will be back later.0 My neighbor from down the street will came and clean,  //She comes every two weeks. Will also spend the night if I need here.

Good morning from a plus 18 Interior morning!

I have nothing planned for today except playing with Farrah and with my computer. I'm out of some grocery items but plan on waiting for less ice and more snow before venturing out or if pressed. It was that 2014 ice incident that put paid to my walkabouts, so it pays to be cautious.

PetPride had called yesterday to ask if I could take in a Siamese mix with many similar issues with Farrah before she felt safe. I was upset that I couldn't take the cat on but called Alan, and he and Dora brainstormed and called around to find her a quiet home. It was lucky that they found a woman who had lost her longtime cat last summer and she met with PetPride and is now a permanent foster, and the Siamese has a good home!

Gloria! Please be careful, and perhaps Larry's idea would help with the Post Office bringing your mail to the door! We need you to be safe! I'm glad you will have company but am sorry about the wind. I'm not that fond of it either!

Sandy, when I'm trying to fix a cold, my go-to is lots of ginger tea with honey also hot broths as regular soups don't do well with colds and congestion. Staying warm, vitamins B and C and having lots of liquids seems to help

Larry, we used to play Gin Rummy or Poker and still do at times, but I've never caught on to Hearts or Bridge or cribbage that is played with my friends. They have game nights here on Friday as well as Bingo Wednesdays, but I've only been once. Movie night is on Saturdays, but I've never gone. I don't interact with many of the building's residents. I did for a couple of years when I joined committees and got involved with so much, but I'm not cut out for the arguing and haranguing that went on.

When I go check my mail in the evenings, there are three guys always sitting in the room and beyond greeting those who come in, they just sit and read. That is the remnants of the old coffee guys that I've mentioned before. The coffee and treats were shut down when the State took over, unfortunately.

MaryAnn that is a commercial cookie recipe, 600 cookies! Wow! Farrah is not interested in the outdoors period, she enjoys her creature comforts and has no wish to go back outside luckily!

Here's hoping everyone has a good day!

Mary Ann

Larry, I suggested to Tom that he change the dryer door and he said it already opens from the left to the right so it is convenient for him.  I think the bad part about the washer and dryer is that they are front load and he must stoop down to load or unload and his back bothers him and makes stooping hard.  I don't go down to the laundry room so I can't help.

Patricia, I don't know why my dad's cousin would have such a large recipe, but I see it has another woman's name on it so she might have been involved with a restaurant or some place baking large amounts.  I'll post the recipe in "What's for Dinner?", complete with comments so you can see for yourself.  One thing that puzzled me is "1 qt molasses - or half molasses and half syrup" and it doesn't specify the syrup.  Dad's cousin was born in 1896 and the recipe is older than that.

I too think Gloria should have the PO deliver her mail to her home.  I had considered it here, but I have Tom to get my mail now.

Actually, Kendrick is not interested in the outdoors and I think the video was taken in the Spring when there was still snow on surfaces, but the air was warm.  He did not stay out long.  I'd send you the video, but videos are too large for e-mail.

Joy

Since it is afternoon 12 p.m.  I will have to say Good Afternoon.

Since I wrote such a long post yesterday, I really do not have much to say today.  I did sleep pretty well and  got up with a little bit more energy than I usually do.  I made a pie and some cheese Danish pastries out of the crescent rolls that come in a package.  So, now I have some pastries to go with my breakfast.

I still  have to clean up the kitchen mess and then get myself dressed.  I will not do much this afternoon, except maybe read for a little while. I will play cards again this evening.

I have a call into the doctor's office as I need a renewal for a refill of a medicine.  I called the place where I get the medicine from and they told me that they have a call in to the doctor, but haven't heard back from them. I am going to wait a little while longer and call back.  I need the medicine by next Tuesday and with the weekend coming, if the doctor don't get back in touch with them, that may hold up the medicine.  I am just so disillusioned by doctor's offices right now. The patient is just a number, I think. I don't think my doctor would think much of the lack of interest.

Gloria, I, too, hope you can make an arrangement for the post office to bring your mail to the door.  Or, perhaps the neighbor who comes to clean would be able to get your mail for you, if she lives that close.  Sometimes, you just have to bite your tongue and ask. It sounds like you have nice neighbors and perhaps they don't even realize that you might not be up to going out for the mail.

Sandy, sorry you are fighting a cold.  Luckily, I don't get colds too often.  I think sometimes, they just have to run their course.  Sure hope you will feel better soon.

Larry, your meal sounds good.  I am not a big meat eater, but there are times when I feel like having a good hamburger.  I don't like fixing hamburgers, so mine will come from a carry-out place.  I remember when I was in my condo, I had the dryer door switched, as it made it so much more convenient.

Mary Ann, they just put new washer and dryers in  our place and the washers are the front loader kind.  Maybe one of those " reachers" would help Tom.  I sometimes will take mine over to the laundry room to get clothes from way back in the dryer. Works good !!!! I don't seem to have any problems with the washers, even tho I really don't like the front loaders.

MaryANn, I am anxious to read the cookie recipe from your cousin. Sounds interesting the way you have said it is written. I still have a little book that has some handwritten recipes in from an aunt.  The book itself is almost falling apart. And, I am sure some of them might go back as far as the one you mentioned.  They are fun to read with the different terms they used back then.

Time for lunch, so I will just wish everyone a good afternoon.

Marilyne

Good morning . . . still a little after 10:00 here, so I'm just getting started with the day.  It rained all night, and is continuing this morning, so I'm grateful for that, and hope it keeps up all day.

Joy - I also use my "reacher/grabber", to get clothes out of the dryer.  I can't bend over far enough anymore, and my arm won't go all the way to the back. My washer is an old top loader, and I can still pull out the clothes and such, and toss them into the dryer.  The towels are extremely heavy to pull out, and the sheets are awkward and heavy.  I have a hard time folding the sheets, after they are dry.  AJ helps me with the top sheets, but the fitted sheets are a real pain!!

I agree with you on the disinterest in the doctor's offices, and usually in the doctor himself or herself.  They're so busy and always behind, and seems the only thing they care about is seeing your Medicare card, and your alternate insurance.  The thing I hate most is the waiting to get called in, and then waiting again in that small examining room.  I shouldn't complain, as I know I'm lucky to still be here!

Patricia - I'm glad you found a good home for the Siamese mix cat. Around here, shelters and rescue facilities are filled with the injured and burned cats and dogs from the Camp Fire.  They are looking for homes for hundreds of pets, as soon as they are well enough to be released.

Mary Ann - Kendrick seems to like the deck, as long as you are out there with him. (In the nice weather of course.)  If you lived in a house with a yard, he would likely want to be out there too.  As for wandering all over the neighborhood, I think that was something cats and dogs did in the old days? I can remember WAY back, when one of our cats often wanted to go outside just as I was ready for bed.  I would think nothing of letting him out for the night, and of course he was always waiting by the door in the morning.

Mary Ann

My neighbor has a cat and she takes her outside with her when she works in her garden.  The cat doesn't stray from the yard.  I am afraid to let Kendrick out when the other cat is out because I don't want him wandering in the yard as it is open and he might decide to investigate the neighborhood.  I do let him out on the front porch/stoop and I watch him while he wriggles around.  Then he'll look up at me, I'll open the storm door and he rushes in.  He's neutered so I don't worry about that.

I posted the recipe in "What's for Dinner" in case any one is interested.  It is amazing how many cookies the original recipe makes.  My new cousin also sent a picture of his wife with the cookies.

Ancestry makes some things easy.  This new cousin is the son of a woman who married my dad's cousin.  She had been married before to the cousin's father and I assume they divorced.  Then she married another man and they may have divorced.  Then she married Dad's cousin and they stayed married.  The cousin was the only child she had and apparently he has no children.  I think he lives in PA and I'll have to look that up.  His background is in education and he has an advanced degree.  I'm nosy at times.

Joy, I'm glad you weren't dressed when you posted because I sometimes don't get dressed until noon - or after.  Tom is gone all day and it doesn't matter when I get dressed because I'm not going anywhere.

Marilyn, we had a dog that roamed the neighborhood and so did all the other cats and dogs.  We didn't have traffic like they have now.  A neighbor built a fence around his yard to keep his dog in, but that dog wasn't too friendly.  Someone said they like large dogs and I do too.  They don't "yap " like smaller dogs and there's more to pet.  Our dog was a Heinz dog and now it seems people want pedigree pets.  I'd still get a mutt if I were to get a dog.  Kendrick is a mix, but not 57 varieties (Heinz).

You're right about Kendrick liking it on the deck with me.  Sometimes he gets up on the loveseat with me, but mostly he will lie on the deck - just as long as I'm there.

The cat is now sleeping on my bed and I don't want to disturb him to make it.

Mary Anne,  "half syrup" probably means dark Karo syrup.  Molasses is thicker.
Pure molasses is made from sorghum cane and is not the same as "molasses syrup" often seen in stores.
We had a sorghum mill on some rural property when I was growing up and I remember watching a mule walk in a circle to make a heavy stone crush the cane.  The syrup ran down a trough into a big kettle over a fire where it was cooked down into thick strong molasses.
My Dad taught his grandsons to poke a hole in the side of a biscuit and pour in molasses mixed with butter.  (My mother rolled her eyes at this!).
Pure molasses is still available at some country stores in the part of Oklahoma where I grew up and we always manage to have some on hand.

Larry,  I've grumbled for 5 years because the dryer door opens "the wrong way".  After you wrote about getting yours changed,  I checked mine.  Glory be!  Looks like it can be done!!!  Thank you!

I'm another who uses the large Avery address labels.  I've successfully edited addresses by saving to file with changes and then printing.  Think I'll try to delete the ones I won't use this year and see if those come out blank on the page.

Sandy, no fun having a cold - particularly when your apartment is chilly.  Hope you're feeling better.

Gloria,  the New York Harbor webcams have shown big waves and some low clouds during the past few days.  I know you're not near that part of the Hudson river but I suspect your weather has been affected, too.  Please take care.

My doctor's office has a sign reading "Please report to the desk if you are not called back within 15 minutes".  Of course, that doesn't mean you won't sit in the exam room longer than that!  I do appreciate it when the doctor takes time with me so I try to remember to be patient when he's doing the same with someone else.  (Doesn't always work...but I try!)

Joy, Marilyne, angelface and others I've missed commenting to, please forgive me.  I've lost my post twice - once because I messed up trying to make changes and another time because it just wouldn't "go" and I got the "page can't be shown" screen.

I've "met myself coming and going" this week and am just this afternoon starting to catch up.
Off to see what else I can accomplish......
 :hugs:  to all

Mary Ann

Callie, one time on our way to Brown County IN, we stopped in Beanblossom and I saw them making sorghum the way you described.  I don't remember the stone, but I know there had to be something to grind the stalks other than just the mules' hooves.  I think I bought some and may have used it but I know it wasn't my favorite.

This makes me think of the time I made a pumpkin pie from scratch.  It was a very pale pie but tasted OK.  I had enough for two pies and for the second pie I put in some molasses which gave it more color and better taste.  I did not repeat that performance since Lilly does a very good job on pumpkin for a pie.

Hi Everyone.  The morning started out sunny but now it has become overcast.  It is now 53 degrees and will get up into the low to mid-60's this afternoon.  The main thing on the agenda for today is our housekeeper will be here in a little bit.  I think Pat and I may go out for our main meal at midday and if so I will pick up an order I had sent to our local Walmart store to avoid the shipping charges.  I did not have an enjoyable day yesterday as had a lower back ache that started before I got up and last all day long.  However, this morning the ache is gone and I feel back to normal, whatever that is.

I was shocked yesterday when I went to add a new recipe to the Indexes in the cooking section of Seniors and Friends to find that all of the link are now broken.  I am hopeful this problem can be fixed as I spent many hour preparing the Indexes.  I have emailed Michael about this problem and asked for his help. I will let you know if the problem can be fixed.

Mary Ann, thanks for the explanation on your label project.  You are staying pretty chilly up your way.  It is good that Tom can supplement his income with the teaching job.  So far I have lost only one of the six that were in my class in high school and he passed away many years ago. Unfortunately another one of my classmates now is dealing with brain cancer.  However, I have lost many friends over the years to death.  It is something I don't dwell on nor fear but we all know it is inevitable.  Kendrick is smart in not liking to walk in the snow.  Our washer is top loaded but the dryer is front loaded.  I put in my first load of clothes to be dried this morning after having the door changed and it is very nice.

Lindancer, I hope you were able to enjoy your lunch at Friendly's.  I remember eating in one of their restaurants when we lived in Virginia or Maryland.  You certainly have wonderful neighbors.

Patricia, no sense risking a fall if you don't have to be out.  From your previous postings I expect you have plenty of food in your freezer.  Nice of you to help arrange a place for the cat.  Of the card games you mentioned the only one I have never played is poker. I tried to play it one night and immediately lost $5 and said that is enough as worked too hard to risk my money.

Joy, frying a hamburger sure makes the stove top a mess. However, these were fixed outside the door on a big grill and not at our house.  It can be frustrating to get prescription renewals although I don't ever remember experiencing too big of a problem.  I try to order about two weeks in advance.  I think we have six of those "reachers" and they do come in handy.

Marilyne, glad to hear you have gotten some rain.  I did see on the news last night information about some of the flooding and problems that the rain has caused.  You are not the only one having a problem folding sheets, especially the fitted ones.  I just want to throw them on the floor and stomp on them (I saw this on TV sometime ago).  I seldom see the Martha Steward program but the last time I saw it she had a lady on to demonstrate how to fold the fitted sheets but Martha wasn't able to do it either after seeing the demonstration.  Sometimes we think we are getting into our appointment on time only to sit in the exam room for long periods of time.  I am pretty patient because, especially with the cardiologists, realize they may dealing with an emergency and someday I might be the emergency.

Callie, I never really cared for molasses but my dad liked it.  It is too strong.  I remember having Karo syrup mixed with butter as a child but it was usually the light syrup.  That really brought back a childhood memory.  Glad I wasn't the only one who hadn't noticed the dryer door worked on either side.  However, it takes two people to change it, one to hold it in place and one to put the screw back in the brackets.  If you edit out addresses on the Avery labels you will have spaces.  I found I could print just the labels I wanted and then the next time could simply erase the ones and start at the point where the labels began again on the sheet so I didn't waste any of them.  The next time you get a "page can't be shown" type screen try using the back arrow and then try posting again as often the message is still on that saved sheet.

Mary Ann

At 12:30 pm I just had my breakfast.  I often have it that late, but earlier I did have my cookie and coffee so I was not without food from yesterday.

I wonder how our dryer door was put on right; it could have come that way.  Our previous dryer opened from the top and it was convenient to pull clothes out and put them there.  We had a top-load washer and when it quit spinning we got the front-loader.  It was Tom's choice since he is the laundry man.

Our temperature is 35 degrees now and the weather seems to be doing nothing.  I probably will put on shoes and go through the garage to get the recycle tub and put it away.

Larry, that is a bummer about your recipe index.  I know it took awhile to put it together.

At my age, I seem to have lost most if not all of my close friends.  I had two special friends from childhood on and they both have died.  I think I wrote that we have less than 30 people left out of a class of 250 but that covers 77 years and is to be expected.  I had only six first cousins and one is left.  Even the second cousins I was in contact with have died.

That's enough for this time.

Mary Ann

Good morning from a shaken Interior! We just had a 3.7 earthquake. Since we've had little ones recently, just enough to feel movement, I thought it was one of those except it continued to sway. Then my plants on the upper shelves began moving as did the couch but only a small sway/shake.

I had just begun to think about getting dressed and getting Farrah's carrier when the building obviously began swaying. Farrah jumped up and looked to me for clues and then everything stopped. The actions were strong for such a mild quake and I'm not sure if it was because the epicenter was only a hundred miles away or if this was a larger continuation of the previous smaller quakes.

November 11th, I read about a seismic wave swept the entire earth picked up by instruments. "Scientists are baffled by a strange seismic ripple that traveled around the globe the morning of November 11.

Seismic waves buzzed sensors from Africa to New Zealand and Hawaii for about 20 minutes, but it seems no humans felt the bizarre ripple, National Geographic reported.

Twitter user matarikipax spotted the strange motion on U.S. Geological Survey graphs. He noticed a "most odd and unusual seismic signal" on data from Kilimambogo, Kenya; Lusaka, Zambia, Mount Furi, Ethiopia; San Pablo, Spain; and Wellington, New Zealand."

It was also picked up by instruments from around the "Ring of fire" of which Alaska is a part. It makes you wonder what is going on under the earth's crust.

Marilyne

Larry - that's too bad that the links to your recipe index, are missing. It's beyond annoying, when you work so hard on something, post it correctly, only to have the main parts disappear! >:(   I hope that Michael will fix it for you.

I want to recommend a delicious low-cal Holiday drink that I discovered over the Thanksgiving weekend.  If you have regular Almond Breeze Almond Milk, in the refrigerated section of your super market, look to see if they have Almond Breeze Nog.  It tastes just like egg nog, only without any of the calories, cholesterol, fat, etc.  I love the taste of the egg nog but it has about 350 calories in one  glass!  Almond Breeze Nog, has only 70 calories! I know that most of us older folks don't have to worry about weight, but we do have to worry about cholesterol.

I had a glass for breakfast this morning, with a banana, and it really filled me up.  Also,if you're looking for a change from bananas, try the Satsuma Mandarins, that are available now in most markets.  They are tastier than oranges or tangerines, but have no seeds to contend with. Sometimes there is one seed, but that's it.

So, those two items are my contribution to your Holiday meal planning! :D

Patricia, I followed your link about the carved rolling pins, found a pin like mine, came back here and your post had (and has) disappeared.  Anyway, I found a picture of my rolling pin, and I'd say it is exactly like mine and it is a Springerle rolling pin.  I know I never used it, but it was decorative.  It may be in the storage room.  I have a cookie press mold hanging in the kitchen, also decorative.

Patricia, I hope the earthquakes don't continue, or if they do that they are not destructive ones.

Marilyn, my breakfast this morning was Instant Breakfast, milk, 4-oz fruit yogurt and a sprinkle of nutmeg.  I have that occasionally and it is filling.  What I put in makes enough for two meals and I have no idea how many calories, but not too many.  I'll look for Almond Milk Nog because I don't get regular egg nog because of the calories.

Patricia!  I just saw that the quake was a 7.0 near Anchorage!  Tsunami warning!  Keep us posted on what you hear?

Why you should carefully read all medical consent forms before surgery and other medical treatments!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/who-owns-your-medical-data-most-likely-not-you/2018/11/23/28785efc-e77d-11e8-a939-9469f1166f9d_story.html?utm_term=.70f5ad995057&wpisrc=nl_tyh&wpmm=1

"Do you think you own your own medical data? Your hospital and doctor records, lab and radiology tests, genetic information, even the actual tissue removed during a biopsy or other surgical procedure? Well, you don't.

It's a good bet that the fine print of the consent form you signed before your latest test or operation said that all the data or tissue samples belong to the doctor or institution performing it. They can study it, sell it or do whatever they want with it, without notifying or compensating you, although the data must be depersonalized in their best effort to make sure you are anonymous."

angelface555

Marilyne, mine was a 3.7 with a Healey, AK. epicenter. It is on a fault very close to Anchorage's San Andreas fault so they're probaby related. I'll see if I can find out more.

Patricia, my news story also said the quake was a 7.3 and mentioned Anchorage.

Larry,  I wouldn't dare try to change the dryer door myself and will wait until two of my "guys" are here at the same time.
I think real sorghum molasses is an Acquired Taste. Here's a link to the differences in types of molasses and how to use it.  Writer uses gentle humor to make a good point about "blackstrap molasses"
https://www.seriouseats.com/2017/02/what-is-blackstrap-molasses.html

I'm making a dent in the Domestic Duties.  #1 son was here for lunch.  He got my Christmas dishes out of the cabinet over the refrigerator and brought the big heavy tub of "house" decorations in from the garage.
I am shutting the door to the bedroom where he put everything and will not open it until tomorrow.

Off to continue my labors.

While Healy is right about 100 miles from here, Anchorage is right about 400 with a different faultline but close to Healy's. Alaska has 40,000 earthquakes a year due to two Teutonic plates rubbing and slipping under each other in a Northwest direction.

The S.E. part of the state is vulnerable due to thin strips of below sea level earth tucked between mountains and the sea. Those thin strips of earth sit on a gravel bed, not the most stable conditions.

Also, S.E. has volcanoes as well, and it is a prominent part of the world's ring of fire. The Interior is a different type of Alaska's four climate and geothermal regions

Callie, Marilyne, there was the Anchorage quake which probably due to the two faultlines proximity, set off the 3.7 Healy quake that registered in Fairbanks.

Patricia, the Washington Post wanted to charge me $1 to read that article and I chose not to pay.  And with the article about molasses that Callie posted, I had a box that wanted me to disable my ad block.  I was able, however, to read the article.  Boy, they're getting picky these days.  I got the same message on the earthquake link.  The $10 is greyed out; they only want $1.  So far I have not had that problem on the MSN news on the computer.

Callie, I've heard of blackstrap molasses but I'm not sure I've ever used any.  I have made molasses cookies that cracked and were delicious using regular molasses.  It makes me want to make some and I know Tom would love them; he'd probably eat most of them.

Patricia, I turned on the TV right away, but the only channel that had anything about the quake, was CNN.  They didn't have much - mostly phone calls/reports from people in the vicinity. They lifted the tsunami warning too quickly, I thought . . . but I guess the earthquake experts/seismologists know more than I do! ::) ha ha

So far it appears that no one has been killed or seriously injured, but that could change.  I'll tune in tonight for the evening news, and I'm sure they will have lots of video to show, plus first hand accounts.  The last big quake we had here in this area, was a 6.9, in 1989, so it was not as strong as this one in Anchorage.  Lots of damage, a number of deaths and injuries then.  Also, a portion of the San Fran/Oakland Bay Bridge collapsed.

Callie, I've heard of blackstrap molasses but I'm not sure I've ever used any.  Mary Ann

Mary Anne, please don't!  It's awful!!!!  :P

Our regular stores have "Molasses Syrup" that has the consistency of the dark Karo.  "Sorghum Molasses" is thicker.
It's really good in baked beans - instead of brown sugar.

Tom and I went to Cheers tonight for supper.  I've never seen them so crowded and I'm sure we've been there on Friday night before.  Tom has been working hard this week so I paid, but I let him leave the tip.

Weatherwise, things have calmed down - no precipitation.  Tomorrow and Sunday it is supposed to rain.  At least it doesn't have to be shoveled.

Tom only heard about the Alaska earthquake when he looked at his phone at the restaurant so I filled him in with what Patricia said and what I read.  7.0 is a strong quake, but last I heard there were no fatalities, however, I have not looked at news since 7 pm and it's nearly 9 pm now.  Next on the agenda!

Angel, thinking of you! News here said the quake  did some damage in Anchorage, but was only 'felt' in Fairbanks. They predicted there would be many after shocks in the coming hours and days but probably not as strong.  I hope you remain safe!

Hi Everyone.  We have an overcast morning, not really very chilly and a good possibility of some rain this morning.  I do plan on attending my Saturday meeting and also making a stop a Aldi's for a couple of grocery items we need.  In mid-afternoon and this evening I look forward to two conference Championship football games.  The first involves the University of Georgia and the second Clemson University.  Hopefully they will both be competitive games.

Mary Ann, when we moved here the washer connections were to the left whereas in the house we moved from they were on the right.  Changing the side the dryer door opens on is a big help.  Our washer is a top load one but the drying is front load.  I heard from Michael and he knew what the problem was with the Recipe Index and said he would fix it last evening or perhaps this weekend sometime.  I haven't checked it out yet but will later today.  I am also getting those popups wanting me to turn off the ad blocker, which I seldom do.  As you know there are usually other sources of the information at other sites.

Patricia, I saw on the news all of yesterday afternoon and evening about the strong earthquake in Anchorage.  It looked like it did a lot of damage to roads and bridges.  I wonder how many of those people it showed stopped in their cars on the highway made it home last evening.  Sure glad you didn't experience any damage.  I did experience a couple of earthquakes when I worked in Anchorage.  Those seismic waves are a strange occurrence.  Why anyone would be interested in my medical records or removed tissues is something I don't worry about.  I usually read the consent forms but don't remember reading about such clauses but they may have been there I didn't focus on them.

Callie, I was glad I hadn't tried to change the dryer door as it really needs two people.  I needed to have magnetized the screw driver as the small screw kept falling off the end of the screw driver.  Once the first screw was put back in the rest was easy.  Yesterday Pat said she plans on putting out the poinsettias in front of the fireplace but doing little other Christmas decorating and doesn't plan on putting out the little Christmas tree.  Good idea to close the bedroom door until you are ready to put the decorations out.  I guess that fits the old saying of "out of sight out of mind".

Marilyne, I am confident that Michael will fix whatever was changed so the links will work again for the recipes. At first I thought maybe I had changed something in my profiles that as causing the problem but soon realized that wasn't the case.  We no longer buy regular milk as my wife has been using the almond milk.  She did find out it doesn't freeze well.  I have never cared for egg nog but it sounds like what you discovered is a good substitute for that made with milk.  I haven't reached that stage where I don't have to be concerned about my weight although I don't fret about it since I know some of the pounds are from the fluid accumulation from the heart failure.  You are getting an early start on your holiday meal planning.

MarsGal, were you looking at the Washington Post website or a different one.

Lindancer, sure hope your toe is now OK and you don't need more appointments regarding it.

Bubble, do you ever have earthquakes there in Israel?

Mary Ann

It looks dry out and our temp is 34 degrees.  I have an idea the temp will stay in that area all day.  Radar showed snow coming from the SW but later today.

I'd like to do some sorting today but I probably won't accomplish anything - as usual.  Tom is gone for most of the day and I'd like to surprise him.

Kendrick came to visit me in bed shortly before I got up and I think he is still there.

I haven't read much news today so I don't know if there have been more aftershocks in Alaska or not.  So far Patricia is safe - stay that way!
