Just to let you know the lost is found.  I knew it had to be around here somewhere.  It was on the dining room table that has a navy blue tablecloth on it and the glasses case is purple and I didn't look there.  The light there was bad, too, because there is no window nearby.  To say nothing of my eyesight.  Whew!

Today is the day I lost my darling fur baby Megan, she was just 10...a Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel...we loved each other to bits...I cant believe it is now five years since the day we had to say goodbye to her...

Hi Everyone. I awoke to a rainy morning and it is suppose to continue all day today and then again tomorrow with the possibility of from 1 to 2 inches of rain.  I plan a very quiet and restful day.  I will probably pick up my friend and we will go downtown for coffee as usual on Thursdays but nothing else on the schedule.  We did enjoy our time with Scott yesterday at Ruby Tuesday's.  We were shocked to see that they had significantly raised their prices on some of their entrees.  Scott and I both chose to have the great salad bar as our meal and Pat had a fried chicken sandwich with fries.  I do have the kitchen chores done and just need to make Pat's breakfast when she arises.

Shirleyn, glad your chemo didn't take all day and that you were feeling great yesterday and hope you feel the same today. Our previous GP wanted to see us every 4 month but our current one sees us once a year and his PA sees us 6 months after the doctor.  They alternate and that is fine.  Of course we can get an appointment if something new develops prior to the pre-set appointment.  I am glad you got the Handicapped window hanger or license plate.  Pat and I both have the handicapped designation and for several years I have just used the license plates rather than the mirror hanger. There would have been times in the past when that repair bill for the heat pump would have been hard to get paid but we were OK this time.  Here is a link to the cabbage soup that Pat recently made.  I warn you it makes a lot of soup.  https://temeculablogs.com/pressure-cooker-cabbage-soup/  You will need to scroll down on that page until you see the recipe "Pressure Cooker Cabbage Soup".  If you want it to be soupier than cut back on the rice.  Pat used just what the recipe called for and the rice absorbed a lot of the liquid but it was still very tasty and filling.

Mary Ann, I don't think I have ever had potato soup with beans in it.  I do like both soups so that combination would probably taste very good.  Glad you had a good time at the Blue Water Grill with your two additional guests besides Tom.  We do need to thank those who are willing to serve on condo or HOA boards as I know it can be a pretty thankless job.  We do have a management company but not sure they do more than collect the monthly fees and pay the bills.  We still have a board of directors.  I assume the two distances you mentioned from your place to Canada represent two different places where you can cross the border.

Marilyne, I don't blame you for not wanting to drive at night as the car lights can sometimes be a bit blinding.  I can still drive at night but don't like to do so.  I like to be home in my easy chair when it gets dark.  Glad you found your dark glasses.  I couldn't find mine the other day and then a couple of days later I found them in the passenger seat and Pat had sat on them and one of the temple pieces was bent but they were metal and I quickly bent it back into place and all is fine.

Jackie, it doesn't seem five years since you had to say goodbye to Megan.

shirleyn

Good morning everybody.  Another good day and nite for me.  I feel so lucky, but then, I have had a lot of prayers being said for me.  I am so thankful.  We did get out & fill the gas tank, and did get the parking tags, and picked up some goodies at WinnDixie.  Of course the one thing I went for – they were out of.  But it wasn't a complete loss -  there were other goodies.

Mary Ann, your luncheon at the Blue Water Grill sounds really pretty and nice.  We used to have a restaurant in Port Huron with the same name.  That brought back pleasant memories.  So glad to read that the lost has been found.  Hate it when that happens.

Marilyn, we never do anything special on Christmas Eve – no family in the immediate area.  We are invited to go out to eat with my line dance gang.  I will see how I am feeling that morning.  Right now I cannot make definite plans, as I never know what I am going to wake up to.  As I have been saying, every day has been great so far, but I am so expecting things to happen.  We will see.  Your Hofbrau sounds inviting to me, who is of German descent.

Larry, thanks for the link to the cabbage soup.  I will check it out when I get thru here.  You mentioned that you had never had potato soup with bean soup, Danny makes a bean soup with potatoes in it.  Does that count?   ;D And it is very good.

Hmmm, we are now in a tornado warning until 9:15, and it is raining like crazy.  Yikes.  So I will get out of here now.  I hope you all have a good day!

(~_~)

Joy

Good morning, Larry and Jackie.  And to all the other friends who come in later.

It is a kind of cloudy morning, and I thought it was supposed to be rainy this morning, but so far, it hasn't started yet.  And, I think they took the "maybe flurries" out of the forecast for Christmas.  That is good as far as I am concerned.  I am not too fond of snow anymore.

Nothing special going on today, except I will be playing cards tonight.  Then, tomorrow is our Christmas luncheon. They are combining the monthly birthday party with the Christmas luncheon.  So that should be nice.  Lots of people will show up.  Anytime there is food, there is always lots of people.  Many who do not come to other activities.

I am probably as ready for Christmas as I am going to be.  I did write a few Christmas cards for mainly out of town friends.  The others I will send an e-mail message. I really don't like doing that, but I just wasn't into writing a lot of cards this year.  So far, I have not received a lot, either. I think the postage deters a lot of people now.  Fifty cents a card does seem like a lot. I have received a few family picture cards and I like getting them.  Nice to see how much the children change in a year's time.

MaryAnn, glad you found your glasses.  That is always so frustrating when something like that happens. I take my glasses off when I read,
write  or do something close up and I am always laying them down just anywhere.  I wind up finding them in some of the strangest places.  LOL

Larry, glad you enjoyed your dinner with your son.  I think that is nice that you try to get together with him every week.

I have already been downstairs to take some mail down and had breakfast and will read for a little while until I am ready to tackle the day.  Just some straightening up to do and then have the afternoon free.  I  did sleep a little bit better last night after 2 really sleepless nights.  I had a little glass of wine, so not sure if that is what helped.

I hope everyone will have a good day.

Good morning, Shirley.  You snuck in while I was writing my message.  I am so happy that you continue to handle the chemo treatments so well. I hope you will continue to feel well.  Hope you don't have any problem with any tornados and will be safe.  Hope you have a nice day.

I wrote something earlier in response to Shirley's message, also Larry's.  It isn't here so where is it?  Shirley only posts here and Larry posts here and in Soda Shoppe.

It was nothing special, but Shirley had mentioned a Blue Water Grill in Port Huron and I wrote something about the restaurant.  If I find my message, I'll copy it and paste it here.

Marilyne

Good to see so many already here this morning! The two missing are Patricia and MarsGal, so I hope we hear from them also.  We haven't heard from Callie or FlaJean in a while, so hope they drop in to say 'hello' before Christmas.

The saga of the lost glasses, is a familiar one around this house.  I have my regular tri-focal glasses, reading glasses, computer glasses, and sun glasses.  Seems that one of the bunch has always gone missing, and we launch a full scale search of the house and car.  Often the missing pair is found in a bathrobe or jacket pocket, sometimes on the floor, in a purse, a bed,  and any number of shelves, rooms, etc.  This is a big house! ha ha. The funny part is that AJ has the same number of glasses that I do, and he never loses track of any of them!  Obviously he is much better organized than I am.

Jackie - I can relate to the sad feelings you have when you remember Megan.  Last year in September, I had to say goodbye to my dear cat, who was 19 years old.  I still think of him every day, especially when I pass through certain areas of the house or back yard that he loved.  I know the best way to feel better, is to get a new pet to love, but we've decided that at our age, it wouldn't be a good idea. You are still young, so I hope that sometime in the future, you'll come upon a sweet pup, who needs your loving care.

Joy - I wish I could say the I'm ready for Christmas, but I still have the food to worry about!  We will have our two daughters, as well as our son and family, here on Christmas Eve.  That includes our three youngest grandchildren, who are all in their 20's now.  I miss the days of watching them unwrap their presents!  it was so much fun to see their happy faces, when they would finally get that wrapping paper off, and see the toys inside. :)

Mary Ann - you'll still get to enjoy that, when you watch Eleanor and Johanna, tear into those Christmas presents!  I remember you mentioned the Blue Water Grill, last summer. That's the one that has the beach outside, where you can sit and look at the water?

Shirley - Sorry you don't have family near enough to spend time with, but I can imagine that it's fun to go out to dinner with your line-dance friends.  I hope you feel well enough to join them on Christmas Eve.

Jackie, there is one thing about our fur babies and they are not fair-weather friends.  I do think, however, that if Tom were the one to feed Kendrick, that Tom would get all of the attention.  It's who feeds them!

Marilyn, I was 89 when Annie bought Kendrick, so you're not too old, but a lot is the convenience or inconvenience of having an animal.  Norm wanted a dog, so my folks let him have one.  My mother was alive then.  The dog lived about 10 years and by that time, my mother had died.  When the dog died, Dad said no more dogs until he retired.  Came retirement and Dad and I took trips - mostly two-week trips - then Norm was in the Army, then he was married (but they had two dogs at separate times) and we just never got another dog.  I think if I had known I would end up with the cat, I would have told Annie "no".  She did move out for 1 1/2 years and Kendrick was with her but when she moved in with her then boy friend, now SO, he came back to live here.  Her SO is very allergic to cats.  I know I'd miss Kendrick if Annie took him, but I'd get over it!  Kendrick was five months old when she got him.  We had no idea he'd grow to the size he is.  He is huge!

Marilyn, I have one glasses case I use and it lives in my purse.  Either my dark glasses or regular glasses are in it, depending on which pair I am wearing.  I am more or less a creature of habit and when I'm in Tom's car, I usually only carry my billfold, glasses case and keys.  I knew when I got out of the car I had the case and I kind of remembered giving it to James so I could use the railing to go up the step to the porch stoop.  My eyes are not what they should be and the dark purple case on the dark blue tablecloth was hard to see - and I didn't.  Tom is the one who spotted the case on the table.  My computer glasses are usually in the computer room unless I lay them down somewhere.  Then I have to look!

CallieOK

Hello.  Did I "hear" my name mentioned?  ::)

Still around but often reading posts on my Tablet and I don't like having to "poke" the letters to reply.  Then, by the time I get to my PC where I can type.....I forget!

The 8 in my family will gather at #1 son's house on Christmas Day because, although his wife is recovering nicely from knee surgery, she doesn't want to over-do.  And Christmas Eve  with her familyhas been mandated  for longer than I've known them.  That's o.k.  I refuse to be a fussy mil and have been satisfied with "Christmas Supper" at my house for many years.  Will be a nice change this year.

All of my Grands are in their 20's and, as you probably know, the two granddaughters live out of state. One is home between trimesters and the NYC one will be here in time for family festivities and stay until after New Year's. Grandson has a paid internship connected with his college major for second semester - and the company wanted him to work during Christmas Break.  His dad says Grandson isn't too sure about this 8:00 - 5:00- on- the -job thing...but he likes the paycheck.  ;)

Spent the morning at the grocery store and doing a couple of errands.  Our church is doing something different for food donations this year.  Instead of "bring something for the Urban Mission Pantry",  we have a calendar with a different food item listed for each day of Advent.  We are to bring that week's items to church each Sunday.  It's working wonderfully and Urban Mission will get a lot more food than usual.
Most of the things on my grocery list were for this project.....but I do try to remember I need to stock my own pantry, too.  :)

Hope each of you is having an Enjoyable Day.

Marilyne

Hi Callie - Good to hear from you in this folder, as well as in Library Bookshelf.  I was hoping to start watching Season #2 of Mrs. Maisel, but now it will have to wait until after Christmas.  I'm anxious to see your granddaughter's debut on national TV!

Mary Ann - I just looked at the Canal Schedule, and I was very surprised to see that ships are coming and going on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, just like any other days of the year.  I guess I thought they would be docked for those two days, so that the captains and crew, could spend Christmas at home with their families. I see that both Paul and Lee Tregurtha, will be arriving at Duluth tomorrow. Lee is coming in the middle of the night - something like 2:00 AM, so I know I won't see her. (I think Lee, is named after Paul's wife, so is definitely a "her".) However, Paul will be there at the decent hour of 2:15 pm, so no reason why I should miss his arrival.

larryhanna

Hi Everyone.  After a dreary and rainy day yesterday we expect to have a little better day today but it has started raining again as I am sitting here writing.  There is still rain in the forecast but tomorrow is suppose to be sunny and no rain.  I plan on staying home all day today.  My main project will be getting a few Christmas packages wrapped and to get my Christmas email prepared and sent out.  I did pick up my friend and we went downtown to coffee and were able to get in an out of the car without a problem or getting soaked.

Shirleyn, it is so good to read that you are continuing to have good days and nights.  You will appreciate having the parking tags although I expect there is a large demand for available handicapped parking places at the various businesses with so many older folks living in Florida.  I would like to see our Church add a few more handicapped spots in the parking area closest to the door and where it is fairly flat.  Since North Augusta is built on the river bluffs finding flat spaces isn't too easy.  I think Danny's soup does count.  I saw on the news last night about the tornado hitting over in the Tampa area.  I hope it stayed away from your area last night.

Joy, like you I don't mind not seeing snow on the ground at Christmas.  I hope you enjoy the combined Christmas and birthday party today.  Nothing brings people together better than food.  We still get a few Christmas cards and letters but I have no plans ever again to send out Christmas cards.  I used to write a fairly long letter and try to make each email have something related to the person getting the email.  However, the last few years I simply write a fairly short note using a Christmas letter format in the email.  Maybe that little glass of wine I am having with my evening meal is also contributing to better sleep for me and nice to see you may have been helped to get a good nights sleep by the same thing.

Marilyne, I wouldn't be able to keep up with so many different types of glasses.  I always wear a shirt with a pocket in it so have a handy place to keep my reading glasses and the sunglasses I leave in the car.  I guess I would sort of fit into the same category as AJ in that I am a pretty organized person. I sure agree with you on missing having young children around when the presents are opened and to watch them open their presents.

Jackie, I know you would love to have another dog but life interferes in what we would like to do.  We will never have another pet as neither Pat nor I are really up to providing them the care required and I certainly couldn't walk a dog.

Mary Ann, our pets are smart in putting their attention on who feeds them.  My mother would never allow a dog or cat in her house until her sister gave her a small poodle.  It was a wonderful companion for my folks and they both loved the dog.  We always had dogs on the farm but they lived outside and in the barn.

Callie, have you considered getting a blue tooth keyboard to use with your tablet?  You can get one that is in the case that holds the tablet and they are very handy.  You can also get a separate small and very lightweight blue tooth keyboard to use with the tablet and they are less expensive than the tablet cases with the keyboard.  As I was growing up we always had Christmas Eve dinner with my dad's folks and then would go to visit my other grandmother on Christmas Day.  I have wonderful memories of both.  I got a chuckle from your comments about your grandson isn't too sure about the 8-5 routine.  That is a good idea on your food donations and it takes the decision making out of the process since you know what to get.

We did get the word last evening that our minister had finally received approval from his insurance that his pending surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota will be covered.  He had been turned down four or more times and kept appealing.  He should have had the surgery weeks ago but now has it scheduled for sometime in January.

Mary Ann

It rained overnight and I think is raining now.  I looked at the Soo and it was snowing up there.  Shipping goes on until mid-January.

Tom is teaching today, then he and I will head for Sheridan to pick up his former MIL to take her to a place on US 131 where James and family will pick her up and they will head for Omena MI, north of Traverse City, where they will have Christmas Sunday with Tom's former wife, Sue, and her new husband.  I don't know if Carol (MIL) will go to Holland with them afterward or if they will take her home.  Her son lives in Greenville so they might drop her off there.  I won't know until it happens.

Larry, I hope all goes well with your minister's surgery.  My dad's brother was the Business Manager at the Clinic for many years.  My mother had protruding gums and had her teeth out in Rochester.  I got my first pair of glasses there.  At times, there would be my folks, but also a cousin of Dad's and Uncle Grover's in the same office at the same time. It would be confusing.  The Clinic has expanded since I was there and is nothing like it used to be. None of my relatives live in Rochester now, but a cousin is in Mps, not far away.  She's the only cousin I have left!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I also had an Uncle Grover, but he was my grandmother's younger brother, so was actually my great uncle.  I would guess that your uncle and mine, were named after President Grover Cleveland?  I'm not sure when he was president, but I'll look it up.  My grandmother was born in 1878.

Looks like I won't get to see Paul, after all.  I have to go out for some last minute groceries and pick up one present, so I'll likely be gone most of the afternoon.

Mary Ann

#11296
Marilyn, I have always felt Uncle Grover was named for Grover Cleveland but I don't know when Grover Cleveland was President.  My Uncle Grover was born in 1890; Dad was born in 1895.

I saw a ship go through this morning, Oberstar I think, but I haven't had time to go back to see if there are more.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Just a brief Hello to everyone.

I am not a ship watcher (I like the trains), but the webcam at Marine City has been popping up in my recommended lists on YouTube, so I check it out on and off. I had the pleasure of seeing two tankers pass each other the other night. The camera didn't pick up color images too well, so the best I could see was that one looked rather new, or newly painted, and had lights blazing all along the very long midsection as it sailed by at a good clip. The other looked like an older smaller tanker.

It rained pretty hard last night and early this morning. The sun was out for quite a while but it has since clouded up a bit. The temps today got up to 60. Tomorrow is to be rather warm too.

Mary Ann

MarsGal, it is kind of hard to pick out details on the ships in the night.  Most of them do have lights along both sides and on the superstructure at the back.  I think it would be nice to sit along the water and watch this long ship in the distance, all lit up.

Tom and I left here about 5:30 to go to Greenville to pick up his former MIL, Carol.  She is a delightful lady, has Mac D, wet kind, and sees out of the sides of her eyes.  She never complains and just makes the best of her situation.  She lives alone with Rascal, her cat.  She was at her son's home, so it cut an hour off our travel.  We drove to Rockford where we ate at a burger joint and we talked for well over an hour.  We had to wait until Annie got home before we could take Carol to Annie's and we also had to wait until James and Alicia got to Annie's.  All of them are driving to Omena MI where Carol's daughter, Sue (Tom's former wife) lives and they will have Christmas tomorrow.  After all was settled, Tom and I left and we got home at 9 pm.  Carol and I had a Mushroom Melt, which consisted of two slices of bread with a thin burger patty, mushrooms and the bread was grilled.  It was good and I might choose it again, but I prefer my Tuna Melt at the Cholesterol Pit.  We chose this place because it was quiet!!!

Tomorrow we will make whatever preparations we will do for Christmas.  I find I've gotten more cards than I thought.  I might have sent out 30.

That was our evening.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Looks like you've enjoyed lots of enjoyable social activities this week, with a variety of friends and family members . . . and you still have Christmas Day to look forward to!

I looked up Grover Cleveland, and he certainly was an interesting President! Sounded like he was very popular, so I can see why there were probably lots of baby boys were named after him.  He served his first term from 1885 to 89.  Then after a four year break, he ran again, was elected and served from 1893 to 97.  As I said, my grandmother was born in 1878, and my uncle Grover, was probably born during Cleveland's first administration. He was about eight years younger than my grandmother.

I pushed myself too hard today, trying to get everything done. Lots of driving, and way too much walking and standing.  Tonight, I'm paying for it. Not feeling at all well, so I plan to get ready for bed, as soon as I finish this message.

Joy

A good early morning. I am just marking my place and letting you know that I am doing well, just a bit busy.  Lots going on with most everyone these last couple days before Christmas.  So much to do and take care of and then, all of a sudden the big special day has come and gone.  All the build-up we all go through for that one day. But, I think back to when my children were young, it was always worth all the hassle we went through.  I don't think there is one other day in the year where we go through so much beforehand, and then eveyrthing is all overwith before we know it. But it is a special time of the year and makes for so much fun for the little ones.

I did go to our Christmas luncheon yesterday.  WE were told that it was to be a cold lunch, and it was 3 different kinds of subs and potato chips. However,  tHere was a delicious birthday/ CHristmas decorated cake.  I had wanted to take a friend a plate back to her, as she wasn't feeling up to going, but there was nothing left.  WHen I told her what they had had, she wasn't too disappointed that she didn't get any.

I have been awake since about 4 a.m. and I see it is now a little after 6. So, I think I will get some breakfast and then, maybe I can get a short nap in before I have to get on with my day.

Have a good day.

MarsGal

Here is the webcam from Marine City that I've been watching.I  haven't watched much so I am missing any people walking along the bank and in the park area. Looks like some people have a nice riverside view from their apartments, too. The view across the the river is lovely at dusk, when the lights just start coming on and the vehicle lights are on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_3Qa6yLVNU

Mary Ann

MarsGal, I'm not too familiar with the east side of Michigan as I've probably only been in that area once or twice.  That land across the St Clair River is Canada.  My deceased nephew, Tim, had a boat that he kept in the area, not necessarily Marine City.  There is a cam in the Duluth views that is similar and at night, it is all lit up.  Tom gave me a list of Great Lakes cams and I'll bet I have Marine City in that list.

Joy, you're keeping busy, aren't you?  I agree with you, there is so much going on before Christmas, getting ready for the big day - and then it's all over.  It's almost like a big letdown.  I feel guilty because I have done so little in preparation but I'm not hosting the dinner or gift exchange.  In fact, my gifts have already been received and opened and maybe even spent.  I will get to James', find a comfortable chair and enjoy myself.

Marilyn, I hope you can rest and recover from your busy day yesterday.  I don't expect to do anything strenuous today, maybe only wrap the two teddy bears I bought for the girls.  I wonder how many other teddy bears they already have.  If I had thought, I would have looked at some I have and given those instead.  Maybe next year!  Ha!

Tom said he has wrapping to do and I think I have enough paper for him so he doesn't have to buy new.  I give some to the Lung Association and they send me cards, paper, stickers and pens during the year.  I don't think I give that much, but I do appreciate the gifts from them!

If Grover Cleveland's first term ended in 1890, it was just in time for my Uncle Grover's birth.  My grandfather had only lived in the US for about 20-30 years and I think it was popular then to name children after prominent people.

I've showered and shampooed so now I'll finish S&F, then I'll see what the day has in store.

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful sunny and cloudless 45 degrees but will warm up a bit as the day goes on.  I got up late this morning and am not going to have time to read and write in the discussion boards this morning.  However, I just wanted to check in before I left for my Saturday morning meeting.  I will come back this afternoon to read and comment.

Larry, we'll be waiting for your return!

Good Morning,

Hard to believe but there's nothing I "need" to do today!

I've been relieved of my assignment for Christmas Day dinner.  Miss Ellen, who is very gluten intolerant, will be here from NYC and her Dad will make gluten free cornbread dressing - using my recipe.

I had told the family there was no need for a celebration of my birthday tomorrow because 1) the church service is the Choir/Orchestra Cantata, which isn't their "cup of tea" and 2) restaurants are crowded and noisy on Sundays - making it hard for me to hear in a large group.

Then #2 son texted asking if I am still able to eat shrimp.  When I replied, YES!, he asked "boiled, baked, fried or all of the above?".   I replied,  "YES"!   ;D
I've now been informed that the family will gather at their home tomorrow evening for a Shrimp Feast.
Although I'd usually scold, in this instance, I'm glad my children didn't pay attention.   ;)

Larry, it's probably 15 feet from the recliner where I use my Tablet to my pc.  If I weren't so lazyumm...leisurely..., I could get up and.......    ;D

Ship watchers,  I saw "Paul" come into Duluth Harbor as I was doing a final run-through of links about 11:00 last night.  Looked as if there were about 20 people watching.

I suppose I should make an attempt at finding Something Useful To Do.  <sigh>

Enjoy your day, Everyone.

A beautiful day.  Supposed to get up to 60 degrees.  Yesterday was a busy day going here and there trying to find what we wanted.  We will be going to our daughter's for Christmas dinner, but I'll take an Apple pie and LarryJoe (husband) will make mashed potatoes.  Gigi says no one makes them as good as her daddy. 😁

Winter is here and the temp went down to 35 last night.  We brought in the Christmas cactus which is full of blooms.  It wasn't looking so good a month ago, but I fed it a little fertilizer and that sure brought it along.

Had my eye checkup a couple of days ago.  I take Lumigan for an eye condition and they took pictures of the eyes and everything is looking good.  Several people encouraged me about getting the cataract surgery and I'm sure glad that I did.  I have a lazy eye and that caused me some double vision at first, but my eyes have finally adjusted.  As the doctor said, my brain has fixed the problem.  Hope everyone has a joyous Christmas and New Years.

Good morning from a minus-six Interior! I have been running about getting appointments and festivities managed for the year's end and other than two last events I'm done. My apartment inspection was, as usual, a quick five minute in and out with a "fine" as the usual verdict.

I posted a couple of video links to FDJ's newest litter, five large 12-week black and white feral kittens and Mama in Pets. They were all very nervous, non-socialized and ill with an upper respiratory infection. FDJ will be giving them three twice daily meds and attempting to socialize all for adoption.

Patricia - I just took a look at the new Kitten Cam in the Pets folder, but only saw one of the new babies. I'm looking forward to watching them over this Christmas holiday.  I'm hoping I can explain the situation to my granddaughter, and help her get the cam on her iPad. I'm hoping the kittens will be active enough, so that she'll be able to connect and get interested.

Jean - your temperatures sound exactly like ours.  We've been having cold nights dropping into the high 30's, and then warming to 60 during the day. I'm glad I read your comment about your lazy eye, and it's reaction to the cataract surgery.  AJ is going to have his cataracts removed sometime in the New Year, and he also has a lazy eye.  So, it's good to know that he might also have the double vision for a while.  Sounds like you'll have a nice Christmas as your daughter's house.  I hope your grandson is doing well?

Callie - First of all, Happy Birthday!  I most likely won't get back in to wish you a happy one tomorrow, so will do it today instead.  Sorry I missed Paul, yesterday. :(   I was planning to watch, but got bogged down with last minute shopping.  I think there are lots of faithful "Paul watchers", who show up at the canal, regardless of the weather!

Mary Ann - When you're looking for something to do on the computer, read Grover Cleveland's biography.  A fascinating life, compared to most of the other Presidents from the 1800's!  The next president to be especially interesting was Teddy Roosevelt, and then I don't know which ones would fit that category in the 1900's?  FDR was a very popular president, but I don't think very many baby boys were named Franklin, during that era?

I'll be looking in the next couple of days, but don't know if I'll have time to post any messages?  I like to read about what you are all doing, and about your family members. :)

Hi Everyone.  Just up from resting for a couple of hours.  I fixed the peanut cluster ingredients in the large crock pot before I laid down and now have it turned on for an hour.  They will then be ready to to stirred up and spooned out.  We are going to go out for dinner this evening as Pat has been in the house for several days and it is a beautiful afternoon after a couple of rainy days.  I am enjoying watching some good college basketball games this afternoon.

Marilyne, I will have to look up Grover Cleveland as I really don't know much about him.  Your temperatures are much like we are having.  Of course we have been having quite a bit of rain.  I hope you are feeling better today after overdoing it yesterday

Patricia, glad that apartment inspection is over for awhile for you.

Jean, what does your husband do his his mashed potatoes that make them so special or is it a secret.  This morning I invited a friend, who was going to be alone on Christmas, to come and share our Christmas dinner.  We don't have much special but Pat did order a ham to heat up and I will mix up the 5 cup salad that Scott and I really like.  I have no idea whether our granddaughter and Elizabeth will be joining us or not although did ask her this morning so I would know how many places to set at the table.  I hope they will be here but it is totally up to them and I won't worry about it.  Glad your eye condition is looking good.  That cataract surgery sure does make a difference.

Callie, Happy Birthday.  Nice of your family to give you a shrimp feast to help celebrate your birthday.  If you are like me when afternoon comes I don't want to sit at my desktop computer as I prefer my very comfortable easy chair.

Mary Ann, I did get all of the packages wrapped for Christmas but I did use gift bags for some of them.  I am glad that job is done for another year.  I don't think little ones can have too many stuffed toys.

Joy, it does seem like a let down after the beginning of the new year and everything outside always looks pretty drab. It has probably been 10 years since we had any little ones to share the Christmas with us since our great grandchildren live in New York.  If our granddaughter and friend come we will be having six here to enjoy the day with us.

MarsGal, I hope you are getting some sunshine today.
