...Hmm, chamomile tea and coffee mix, that is a new one on me... :coffee:
...yes chocolate and cream, ( mini Easter egg ) which is now inside my tummy...not had one of those for years...well it was good while it lasted...

Larry, I think it is so nice of people in your church getting the Wednesday dinners to you and Pat.  Our church does not have "regular" weekly meals so that would not happen here.  It's good that Scott was able to find the problem with Pat's computer.  I have a problem of hitting the airplane key and kicking myself off the Internet.  That was the problem on the #2 computer when it told me there was no network available.  I laughed at your coffee/tea combo.  I have been known to put a small can of root beer in my coffee cup - on purpose.  At least the coffee part did not keep you awake!  I think I'll wait until early May before we put out the cushions for the deck furniture.  I'm anxious to get out there - along with the cat.

Do you remember our grandmothers putting a tot of whiskey in their hot cup of tea? think they called it a hot toddy. When we asked why as young children, we was told it was for " medicinal purposes." I think our grandmas knew a thing or two when it comes to warding off the winter chills, colds and flu...Ha ha, and I would always ask grandma if I could have one to...( I was under the age of 11, and could never understand why her answer was always a NO. )

Good morning from a slowly warming up Interior! We are to be back in the fifties by the weekend and possibly the sixties in the following week. Nothing outside is green yet. We've had the snow loss and the two weeks of rain. However, everything is gray or brown as the greening will suddenly appear, all at once and all synchronized. If you watch carefully, you will see tree trunks have a faint green cast and then within a couple of hours everything has leafed out and the valley is green by tree, bush or shrub.

Farrah has added a type of purposed stalking to the game of peek-a-boo which she now initiates She also will run from you when you come into a room and then flop over whereupon your part is to scratch her belly and sides.  I have to wonder if having the dental work has played into her wanting to initiate play?

Larry, it is nice to see a longer post as that must be you're feeling better. Take advantage and rest some more!

I never have gambled as my money is also too hard won. There are lots of card games, scratch tabs, bingo and other types of small gambles in town but I've always felt the need to receive something back if I pay out my money. The women in my group have never played for cash but I asked Dora this morning,(when she called); about the men. Evidently, everyone puts $20.00 in the pot to begin and she said it is a friendly game as all are friends and neighbors. Two of the men have kids married to each other and are expecting their first grandchild in the late summer or fall. They have a bet going re girl or boy as the parents don't want to know ahead of time.

Jackie, I don't know about my grandparents other than my Irish granddad always enjoyed as he called it, "A wee nip." My parents went out twice yearly, once for my mom's birthday and then for New Year's. They would have friends over where everyone had a beer with their visit and there was always beer when we went upriver but I never saw anyone less than sober. You can't run glacial river rapids without all your reasoning powers as there are whirlpools and trees and other snags running just under the water.

We do have goodies during our book club/gossip sessions and then we are a group "that lunches." And everyone takes home any remainder but I don't think I've ever had a fresh pineapple, that's a good idea!

I don't know if I mentioned this but I subscribed to the Duluth Cam on youtube so you not only see the ships arrive and depart and the Duluth time they do but also you hear the radio calls which adds to the experience. Right now I'm watching the American Integrity and the Joyce Vanenkevort which arrived this morning at 4 AM their time. They show the canal, bridge, and other cams all in one youtube.

Ah yes, a wee dram or two of scotch whiskey...now where have I heard that before?... :)

Oh no, no Jackie...He was Irish to the core! Irish whisky if you please!

Good afternoon, all.

I actually got out in the yard for almost an hour today. Now there is an extra bag to put out for the trash tomorrow. I also opened the windows for a little while. That sure activated the cats.

Patricia, it sounds like Farrah is feeling much better since she had the dental work.

Larry, I am glad Scott was able to fix Pat's computer problems.

Sue and I had a nice time at Hoss's yesterday, although the club meeting was something of a mess. First, we walked in and were told that there wasn't one scheduled until May 1. We waited around a while until the others started rolling in. It seems Hoss's never put the meeting on the schedule and so the rooms were all booked up. It seems they've done this before. We held the meeting anyway, but it was noisy so it got abbreviated. Now the club is looking into relocating the meetings. Sue and I were all set to join yesterday, but we got told to wait till next month, which starts the new membership year.

I am planning to make a taco salad for dinner tonight. I finally have all the ingredients together.

Sandy

Thanks Patricia,
for the YouTube Connection to Duluth Harbor ..

I had fun traveling through the
The Great Lakes-St Lawrence Seaway System (Welland Canal)...

Wow,  what a trip !!!

Thanks again,

Checking in late tonight....

Michele had a very bad day yesterday so we stayed with her until Dave got home....today she is better but we wanted to be there just in case.  We all were quite surprised as she was feeling so much better on Tuesday.

LARRY, it sure was good to read your daily offering.....Happy to read that Scott was able to find the problem with Pats computer. BTW, I think I will pass on mixing a used kuerig cup with my tea!🤣

JACKIE, always happy to read you were out and about last night enjoying your group.

The new house cleaning lady is to arrive at 8AM.  We are anxious to have this over and see how it went.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Hi Everyone.  Kind of a dreary morning and will be a cloudy day with the temp getting into the low 60's this afternoon.  Our housekeeper will be here today.  I am going to just have to check in for today as am fighting a great weariness this morning. I sat on the side of the bed for about 45 minutes before I could get motivated to get cleaned up and dressed.  This is one of those mornings when I am having trouble holding my head upright when I am standing but can keep it upright when sitting.  I did get in the car yesterday morning and go with Pat over to Walmart to pick up the grocery order and Scott was here to help her get them in the house and put away.

Mary Ann

Larry, I hate to hear that you have trouble in the morning and that you can't hold your head upright while standing.  So go sit down to conserve your strength.

Tom was out and said it was a so-so morning.  It had been raining, but was not at 9 am when he came home from his Bible Study.  Radar shows rain with snow north of us.

I have nothing on my agenda except "more of the same".

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Jenny - I'm so sorry that Michele had such a bad day yesterday.  It's good of you to stay with her, as I'm sure she needs to have someone close, while she's going through this toxic chemotherapy.    She is determined, and I hope that her attitude will give the the extra help she needs to fight this dreaded illness.

Just know that many of us are thinking about her, and praying for a complete recovery when this harsh treatment is finished.    You haven't mentioned if she has a mother, dad,  or siblings that could come for a while, and help during this difficult time?

Joy

Just stopping by to say "Hi".

I have had a couple days like Mary Ann.   Been busy, but can't see much of what I did.  Just piddling around trying to get things straight.

Good to see Larry here, but sorry you have such a difficult time in the mornings.  I am not a morning person and it usually takes me a long time to get oriented.

Time for lunch, so will go see what I can find.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon and evening,

Joy

Jenny, I neglected to say anything about Michele this morning - I wasn't really awake1  It's too bad that she has the bad days after having good days.  She's in my thoughts.

Picture this:  I was at the computer waiting for the Paul R Tregurtha to come into the channel on the way to Lake Superior.  It is snowing at the Soo.  This is the first Friday of April and the tornado test siren here went off.  I think it was early as I believe the tests start in June.  This one was shorter than usual.  I wonder if someone goofed.

I've got to get some laundry for Tom to wash and I may be back.  Also time for lunch.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

It rained all night and it is overcast and dreary.  Every now and then there is a sound of thunder in the distance.

Larry put out the hummingbird feeder and he saw a hummingbird a few minutes ago.  We also saw Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird checking out one of the birdhouses.  So maybe we will see more bluebirds nesting this year.

I had my routine dental appointment yesterday and everything is good.  I'm just lazing around today and just taking life easy.  We found several Marie Calendar TV Sweet and Savory and another one that they call "bowls" that you can stick in the microwave 6 minutes that taste much better than any TV dinners we have had in the past.  So that is about the extent of my work for today.  And, yes, cooking is what I call work.  I just hate to cook except for bread.  I made another loaf of that delicious white bread last evening.  I know this isn't the cooking forum, but I really don't have a much to say.  It's pretty quiet here and not much going on.

Mary Ann, I'm glad Tom was able to get your computer problems taken care of.  And Larry I'm sure you and Pat are thankful for Scott's help with your computer help as well as all the other help he gives.

I've got a few birthday and anniversary cards to make for May.  My iMac is ten years old but still going strong although it is slower than the new ones.  I mostly use my iPad but for graphics I use my computer.  Better see if I can get myself going, I'm a lot slower than I use to be also.

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior where we are back in the forties but have yet to see the sun this week. Farrah has been feeling very good and is constantly following me around in an attempt to get me to spend more time playing or giving her back rubs. She has taken to jumping up on the table and the keyboard for attention. I posted two new photos here.  https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?msg=153036

Sandy, thanks for your note as it is always nice to be at times appreciated.

Has anyone heard from Shirley as she hasn't posted since March 8th?

Here's hoping all have a good day!

FlaJean

Patricia, I always enjoy your posts, and I learn something new almost every time you post.  I enjoy reading all the posts but not very good with expressing my thoughts.  It's a good thing we are all different and can enjoy our differences.

I enjoyed the pictures of Farrah and said so in the Photos folder.  She's a pretty cat.

I finally got a "live" shot on the new Grand Haven site.  I wasn't liking it at all, but now it's OK.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I've been meaning to comment on Tom, and his determination to diet and lose some weight.  I know that some people have a terrible time keeping their weight down, and I sincerely hope that he is successful.  Good luck to him!

I just clicked on Grand Haven, and up came the webcam, for the first time in a long time!  It looks like a beautiful day there today!

Patricia - you must have meant someone else, not Shirley?  She posted twice in Soda Shoppe yesterday.  I don't think she has ever posted here in B&T?

Mary Ann

#12832
Marilyn, Patricia meant Shirleyn who does post here.  You're right, the other Shirley does not post here.  Shirleyn is a long-time B&T member, maybe from the beginning.  When I would visit Norm and Dot in Florida, Shirley and Danny would come from Winter Haven and meet us at the Strawberry Farm where we would have delicious Strawberry malts or Sundaes and sandwiches ( mine was usually a Cuban sandwich).  Knowing Shirleyn, I imagine she'll post here before the end of the month.

Thanks for the message for Tom.  He eats out a lot and I only told him to "eat wisely".  He's gone to Holland tonight to see Mary and he says she gives him healthful food - and she's a good cook.  Robin also serves him healthful food but I think hers are sometimes rather odd.

I'm having fish tonight.  Nothing to do with Lent; I like it and Tom doesn't so while the cat's away, I'll have my fish.

Found the Kona online and ordered a couple of lbs.  Came today.  It is beans so will have to get my son to grind it for me.

Thunderstorm on the way in here so will shut down for a bit.  Nite all.

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I should have realized it was Shirleyn. I guess I'm used to seeing that "n" here on B&T.  Shirley, is one of my Facebook friends, and I have seen her posts in there over the past month.  I'll send her an FB message, and find out how she's doing.

angelface555

Thanks all for the encouragement but Sandy was speaking of my habit of posting YouTube videos, and that was what I commented on. Jean, it would be horrible indeed if everyone was a clone. I think humans would cease to exist out of boredom if such were the case!

Shirleyn, was also one of my Facebook friends before I shut down that page and reopened one strictly to view their cat videos that I was addicted to. For some months Facebook repeatedly tried to assist me in "Finding Friends." Now they've switched to simply suggesting video pages to me. I am probably the only one in the ranks who insists on no "friends"!

A Good Friday afternoon HELLO.

MARILYNE, when Michele had colon cancer a couple of years back she would have chemo through her port, on a Wednesday, then would go home with this fanny pack that would drip until noon on Friday.  She might feel tired over the weekend but never had this total weakness that she is having with the once every other week chemo drip, and the 8 daily chemo pills that she takes now.  She just seems to never have a time that she is doing pretty much OK this time.  Our son thinks that the big does of steroids she gets before her drip session might be the reason she did so well this past Tuesday...but that is just a guess.  Michele's Mother lives in Arizona and is a airline flight attendant.  She has not been here yet to visit.  She has one brother, that is single, who lives in California.  We are just so happy we are here to help out when needed.  She and Dave are extremely appreciative of us and try not to ask us to do too much, even though they know we are more than willing.  Thank you for your prayers.  So many wonderful people that are praying for her.

One of Dr. Dave's  very sick patients that comes to him for hyperbaric chamber treatments brings in a get well card every week for him to take home to Michele.  So many people go out of their way to show their kindness, and this is one of those examples.  We spoke to Bob's Sister in Florida today to wish her a Happy Birthday, and she tells us there is one lady at their church that ask her every Sunday how the week went for Michele.  The prayers that are being said ALL OVER THE WORLD are so heartwarming.  Those of you that have put her on your church prayer lists.....oh my, my heart is SO FULL of thankfulness.  💞💞

MARYANN, your kind words are appreciated.  I think Michele is going to just have to take it day by day, and will just be extremely thankful when she does have a good day.  I feel so bad for her.  She is starting to have more hair loss now too, and that is never easy.  Glad you got to enjoy your fish for dinner tonight.

Yea, N JOAN.....you got your Kona coffee.....now get Dan to grind those beans for you!

I wish you all a good night of rest.

It's been a busy day as I worked on getting my taxes ready to mail.  Postage has changed so I had to find out how much it is so I could put the correct amount on my State return.  I objected to paying $25 to e-file the state, well, it cost me $1.75 to mail it in.  Of course, not near the $25, but enough.  Then I had to mail estimated amounts to both the Federal and State.  All the time, the cat is coming in to get some attention.  As it is bedtime, I'm not sure how much he is going to get now!

Rest well everyone.

Oh Jenny...quoting: " Michele's Mother lives in Arizona and is a airline flight attendant.  She has not been here yet to visit.."

What, not even to visit her sick daughter?  :noway:

I am sure she can get on a plane, after all, she does it all the time...
