Jean, we won't get anywhere near 80 degrees today, in fact, our present temperature is 45 degrees at 1:15 pm.

I've been trying to find a picture for a genealogy contact and I cannot find it on my external drive.  Actually, it is three pictures, separate pictures of the graves of my paternal great-grandparents in Cicero Wisconsin and one of both of them from a distance.  They did things different in those days and the great-grandparents aren't even buried side by side, but in different rows.  My dad's parents have the same thing as my grandfather is buried with two daughters and my grand mother is in a different cemetery with her father and two of her children.

We have a circle near the entrance to our complex and the flagpole is in the circle.  I just noticed many tulips are in bloom in the circle.  I don't have any tulips here, just the little blue flowers (anemone among others) and snow drops.  Around Memorial Day I will get a couple hanging baskets and I may not hang them but put them on the floor of the deck so I'll have some color out there.  I gave away all of my amaryllis except one container and I now have three buds in that one container.  They should be separated but I don't think I'm the one to do it.  We shall see!

Sadly, I do not have a good news from Michele's MRI.  They saw six more very small spots on her brain. Dave was quite upset when he called, and he just needed someone to talk to.  He did not know anything about what this will mean regarding Michele's continued treatment, and he did not was to guess at what it might mean.  My heart just aches for him.  He had a break in patients around 11, so he drove down to the hospital she is having her chemo treatment at today to be with her when they told her the results.  He then had to get back to see patients.  It is a 30 minute drive each way, but he just wanted to be with her.  Thank you all again so much for your continued support and prayers.  I really have no one I could really call and tell this news.  I want Dave to be able to tell his brothers, unless he asked me to do it. It is times like this that I really miss my mama.  Right now my dad has enough to deal with and he has been rather confused the last couple of days, so I did not really want to call him with upsetting news.

I must run, as we have to pick Kate up from school in 30 minutes.

Hope your day is going well, EVERY ONE❣️

Jenny...
...I sent you an email, I have received yours this morning in reply...I so wish we could give each other a hug, a real hug not a cyber hug...

Edited to add....I too could do with my father but sadly he has been gone a good 30 -31 years now...

Jackie...

Mary Ann

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear the news about Michele.  My heart goes out to her, Dave, their family and your entire family.  It is almost more than possible to deal with.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Jenny - I've been thinking about Michele, since I read your post in SS yesterday.  It's so very sad, and seems wrong, that this should happen to someone so young, and with a wonderful family, and so much to live for.  There is always hope that there is something new out there in the way of treatment, and if there is, I know that Dave will find out about it.  In the meantime I will be thinking about Michele, and praying for a miracle.

A good MAY DAY TO EVERYONE 🌷🌷

Our company is here so I only have a couple of minutes to say HELLO.

FIRST OF ALL....my eternal thank you to all of you for your so appreciated words regarding Michele.  I could not ask for any kinder words of care❣️ We still do not know anymore about the future plans of treatment.  We are doing our pickups from school and taking the children to their activities this week, along with trying to host my cousin and his wife from California.  They are very understanding and thankful have a car and can come and go as they please.  Sadly, they will not get to see Dave's Family.  Michele is down and out, as usual after the Monday chemo.  I have not even seen her as she has been in bed and I do not do stairs unless I absolutely have to.  We try to be as quiet as we can be so as not to disturb her.

We have had rain and snow since our company arrived Monday....we need the moisture so badly, but it has been disappointing as we hope it would be nice while they are here.

My thanks to you all AGAIN....YOUR SUPPORT helps me tremendously!

Enjoy this first day of May!

Hi Everyone. It is already 74 degrees here this morning and we are headed up around 90 degrees this afternoon.  I did have a great nights sleep last night and didn't even get up to have my Camomile tea.  However, this morning things went downhill quickly when I tried to stand up and slid off the bed onto the floor.  I was too close to the edge of the bed and when I started to slip off the bed my  cotton socks on the wooden floor got no traction and the next thing I knew I was on the floor.  I tried and tried to get up but no strength in my legs.  I finally got on my knees but didn't have the strength in either my arms or legs and we finally called Scott, who was here in a few minutes.  He got behind me and just picked me up.  Once I was on my feet I was OK.  Nothing broken but sure going to have a sore tail bone and sure I am going to have some sore arm and leg muscles as well.  We have already made some changes to see this doesn't happen again including putting down a bathroom rug at the side of the bed and I will no longer wear cotton socks to bed but some of those you get in the hospital with the little rubber dots on the bottom.  I realize I must start an  exercise program.  I printed out instructions for me sometime ago.

The one plus of my fall this morning was to get my bottom number for the blood pressure above 60 for the first time is quite a few days.  It is obvious to me from how much I have written that I am a bit hyper this morning.

Joy, I am not the one to emulate with the tiredness and do hope you will feel better today and have another nice day.  What a nice surprise party.

MarsGal, dealing with fill for a yard is hard and heavy work.  Hope you heard about your Welsh Society meeting so you and your sister can attend today.

Mary Ann, glad Tom is getting to teach a class where he now knows some of the students.  I think many of our teacher today will take a day off and go to the State Capitol to join many other teachers to try to convince the State Legislator to deal with teacher pay and benefits.  I used an electric mower for several years although I have had lawn service for quite a few years now so haven't had to mow or trim.  We have no outside planting anymore as just not able to care for them.

Marilyne, I am sure it was a relief to AJ to get the stitches removed.  Ears don't lend themselves to bandaging.

Jean, certainly glad they can remove the spots that can cause trouble on our skin.  Hope you have another nice day today and the birds entertain you.  A few weeks ago I did see a beautiful bright cardinal sitting on my neighbors mailbox across the street from my office.

Jenny, you all have reason to be upset with the outcome of Michele's MRI.  However, never give up hope as miracles do happen.  I continue to pray for Michele and all of your family on a daily basis.  We don't often think about doctor's and ministers and others who dedicate their lives to helping other also have personal lives and health and other issues just like we all do.  I am sure Dave and Michele are most appreciative of your being there for them and all that you are able to do to help them.

Jackie, while real hugs are not possible with friends so far away a cyber hug at least says we care about you and are thinking of you. I feel so blessed to have all of you as well as our friends from Church and especially Scott to help us out and to love us.  While I don't say it enough I hope you know that I do care about you and just know I send you a hug each day whether I say it or not.

It is hard to post about our activities (and I won't) when we know what Michele is going through.  I know she's a fighter and she has a loving family for support, but it is a hard fight.

When I went to post my message, I found that Larry had posted in the meantime.  Larry, I know what you went through when you slid off your bed.  I did the same thing a few months ago, landed on my back with my feet toward the phone.  Tom was in the family room but I thought he was in his bedroom and I called to him for 45 minutes before I scootched far enough on the  floor to reach the phone to call him.  I was not hurt as I slid very gently, however, it is no fun; I'm just glad Tom was home.  I feel in time I could have turned over and gotten up.  I don't have a lot of strength but I think I have more than you do.  I'm glad Scott was able to get to you to get you up.  That's a heck of a way to raise your blood pressure!

We have a wet, drizzly day here today and I don't know if we'll get much relief.  I noticed it was both raining and snowing at the Soo but the snow was melting as it hit the ground.

Mary Ann

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior! Last week it was in the 30 to 40-degree range with cold rain and snow while this week it is in the sixties for both highs and lows and they are worried about dry conditions and fires!

Last night the long-awaited greening happened and everywhere you look from trees to bush to ground, its green everywhere! Summer has finally occurred!

I'm still not feeling well so I'll wish everyone a good morning!

Mary Ann

Good morning, Patricia, it's good to hear from you and I'm sorry you still don't feel well.  Just take it easy and check in with us once in a while.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Larry - Oh dear, how frustrated you must have been, trying to get up by yourself.  So glad that Scott could get there quickly and help you.

Mary Ann - I feel like you do about posting mundane things, when so many of our members and their families are having serious health problems.  Talking about a trip to the market or our unimportant little problems  doesn't seem right. However, this old world keeps right on spinning, and things keep happening, whether we like it or not. I really don't have much to say today anyway.  I was going to ask you if you started watching Jeopardy again?  James, is still in the lead, and has made millions of $$$'s. He's not very personable, so I've stopped watching for now.  AJ is very impressed with him, so he is continuing to watch.

Patricia - sorry that you're still having allergies and sinus troubles. The allergy season is in full swing here, and is the worst one we have ever had in Northern Cal.  I think I told you that I put the Juneau webcam on my desk top, so I'm enjoying looking at it, along with all the others!

Jean - Glad you can relate to the difficulty of trying to put a secure bandage over the top of the ear!  AJ also has hearing aids, so I have to make sure that he can get them in and out without disturbing the bandage.  Anyway, that little chore is over, for now anyway.

Jenny - I'm glad that your cousin and his wife are there for a visit. It will give you a break, as well as some pleasure to have company there for a few days. I am thinking about Michele, and Dave and the kids, as well as you and Bob, every single day and night.  I will continue to pray for a remission for her, and hopefully, a full recovery.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, others probably think I'm silly, but I will not watch Jeopardy until James has left.  I think he has spoiled the program and it will never be the same.  I also wonder about Trebek's health.  The end of May is three months since his announcement about his pancreatic cancer and I've always heard that three months is the limit unless someone has surgery.  A friend of mine did have surgery and lasted one very bad year.

It has been raining here all day, nothing hard, but wet.  I'll let Tom get the mail today.

Robin, who has been doing my cleaning, is coming today to specifically work in this computer room.  It is a mess and she's more organized than I am.  She also is much younger, more Tom's age.

I'd have trouble with bandages on my ears too because I wear hearing aids, but unless I go somewhere, I don't wear them.  With Tom gone, or downstairs, and no one to talk to, why wear them!?

Another hour and I am being collected by the lovely Funeral Director who is going to take me to the Chapel of Rest to see Richard, this is going to be tough but I want to speak to him and say a final goodbye before his funeral service takes place next week...

Mary Ann

Thank you Bubble for the link about Alex Trebek.  I know they film the segments several weeks ahead and he has still looked quite good.

Jackie, you still have a "hard row to hoe" ahead of you, but I think you're doing well.

I've just gotten up and I'm not "with it" yet.  I'll be more wordy later.

Hi Everyone.  We have a clear sky this morning and we are to get up into the high 80's this afternoon.  Nothing particular on my schedule for today other than seeing Scott, who will be here before long to take his mother to an routine appointment down at the hospital.  Then he will come back to spend some time with us this evening. My blood pressure is pretty low this morning being 73/48 and guess that may be why I am pretty breathless this morning and no energy.  I am going to offer a few comments this morning as got nothing done here in my office yesterday but posting to the discussion boards but want to get some other things accomplished.

Mary Ann, other than a pretty sore tail bone I really was lucky.  I certainly won't fall in the same place again.

Patricia, I remember those beautiful Spring days in Alaska and particularly the hug dandelion in the yard.  Hope you soon feel better so you can enjoy the better weather you are having.

Marilyne, I will not quit watching Jeopardy but after this week they will have their annual Teachers Tournament so he will be off the air during that time.  To me James has just made the program more exciting and I admire his vast knowledge.

Bubble, thanks for that link about Alex Trebek.  I expect the programs have already been recorded for the remainder of this season and I hope he will still be able to continue in the Fall.

Mary Ann

Yesterday Robin came to help me with the computer room.  We made good progress but I think we covered only about 10% of the room.  The living room now has piles here and there and I have my work cut out for me for some time.  Robin is more organized than I am so it helps to have someone point me in the right direction.  I have a bunch of genealogy books that date back several years.  Since my eyesight doesn't let me do a lot of reading, I gave Robin several of the books and I'll give her more and she will give them to a thrift shop she is interested in.

After our busy afternoon, we went to Cheers to eat and I had a turkey sandwich, half of which I brought home for lunch today.

I was able to watch a couple of ships go by at Marine City this morning and I saw half of one leaving the Soo.

Larry, I think James' big winnings do not make the program more interesting and I feel sorry for the people competing with him.  I'm glad you mentioned the Teachers' Tournament coming up and I may watch that.  I've heard that James has both increased and decreased viewers for Jeopardy.

Tom is off teaching this morning and said he'd see me late afternoon, early evening.  I'll know later if I find my own supper or if Tom will be here to fix something.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Good Morning all.
Bubble - Thanks for the information about Alex Trebek. He has a great attitude, and plenty of determination.  I certainly do admire him.

Larry - My husband AJ, feels the same way about James, that you do.  He loves the watch him, and is hoping that he continues to win.  James is a brilliant young man, there is no denying that fact.

Mary Ann - I don't really understand why, but I find it stressful to watch James.  I get really tense, so I've given up on the show until he is gone.  It drives me crazy that he pushes the buzzer before Alex has even finished asking the question! Because he is a professional gambler in Las Vegas, I guess he knows all the tricks and strategies, that give him the advantage.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I know the contestants on Jeopardy must pass a test (or tests) to be on the programs, so obviously James qualified.  But I think the powers that be erred in allowing a professional gambler on the program.  I don't think I feel stressed watching him, but I don't enjoy him so I don't watch it.  It would be interesting to see the age range of those who like him and those who do not like him.  And there will always be some of each category who are in the other category.  Just because I am old does not mean all older people feel as I do (Larry and AJ, for instance).  I am getting along fine with no Jeopardy and I'm more concerned about Alex himself.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Here it is close to aftenoon already. And I thought yesterday went fast.

It got colder than I expected last night, so with the heat turned down, it was cold inside this morning. It was supposed to get up over 80 today, but this morning I saw that was revised to 75. It is 67 now.

Aftenoon before yesterday, I saw the Lee. A. Tregurtha and the Federal Barents go by the Marine City webcam. The Atlantic Huron was a bit behind them according to the shipping map, but I didn't hang around to watch it. Oddly, the map showed them all still above Marine City and coming down from Huron, but obviously the it hadn't been updated for a little while. Yesterday I saw the Edwin H. Gott.

I am still watching some of the train Webcams, but I am just as interested in what is going on around them and the weather at the cam locations.

Larry, I didn't hear anything from the Welsh Society so I didn't bother going over to Hoss's to see if they were still having their meeting there. Sue had other plans so she couldn't go. She sent in our dues for the next year, so hopefully we will be better informed. The only email Sue and I got was forwarded to us by one of the members and was about the National Welsh Festival in Milwaukee, WI at the end of August.

Mary Ann

I just saw a ship go under the Blue Water Bridge at Port Huron MI.  The camera did not move close enough to see the name, but I think it was the Kaye E Barker from looking at the map.

I've been wanting to see a ship there, but had not seen any.  Today when I went to the site, there were a lot of cars parked along the river so I decided to wait and a ship appeared.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I watched the webcams off and on all day yesterday, but I haven't seen much on any of them today.  I'm probably just a little late, or too early?

I'm sitting around here, just waiting for Sandy to come over to borrow our old vacuum cleaner.  Hers broke, so she needs one to use until she can afford to buy a new one. Other than that, nothing happening today.  AJ went to Costco for some things, and will bring home a tray of salmon for dinner tonight. They have a ready to cook salmon, that is already prepared for the oven with a nice sauce on top!  It last us for two meals, and is delicious.

I hope we hear from Gloria de, soon?  It's been a few days now since she posted.  Also hope that Jackie is doing okay, and is ready for the funeral service next week?

Jenny - Sounds like you will be busy, with company visiting you this week?  I hope that Michele is feeling a better today?  Keep us posted on how she is doing.  Still praying for a miracle recovery!

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I saw three more ships go under the Blue Water Bridge but you don't have the same view that you do at Marine City.  The Blue Water Bridge goes from Port Huron MI to Sarnia ONT CA.

Maybe if we lived close to Costco we'd take advantage of some of their meals, but they are a good 15-20 miles from here.  Even Walmart is about 5 miles away.  I don't do any shopping of that sort anyway.  Tom does a good job of cooking, but they're no where near "gourmet" and neither was I, but I do like casseroles and he doesn't.  He has just entered a weight loss program through our main hospital.  He does have to lose weight!  He did some walking yesterday, he said for 45 minutes, and his legs felt like rubber.  Today they're better; I think he will go twice a week to walk.  I'll support whatever he must do to lose weight!

I'm not fond of salmon, but if it was already to put in the oven, I'd fix and eat it.  I do like fish, it's just that I'm not fond of salmon.

I hope that Gloria de shows up soon.  So often when she is away, she comes back saying she had been in the hospital for a few days.  I hope that isn't the case now.

Gloria D had shown in ( Yesterday at 17:43:23 ) but hasn't posted for 4 days...
We do worry over our long-term members when they miss postings, it is good that we are so observant...

Hi Everyone.  We have a cloudy morning and it is suppose to get to 84 this afternoon with a fairly good chance of some rain, which would be welcome.  Our housekeeper is here. That is the only thing on the schedule for today so it should be a quiet afternoon and evening.  I did have a good night's sleep this morning but after I sat up on the side of the bed I felt my energy drain.  Have any of you experienced such a feeling? Pat got her second Instant Pot, the 3 quart one, on Wednesday and she and Scott had to do quite a bit of rearrangement of things in the kitchen to accommodate both of them side by side.  She is telling folks her large Instant Pot had a baby.

Mary Ann, very nice of you to give your genealogy books to Robin.  Maybe being in a walking program with others will help Tom continue his walking.

Jackie, thanks for following up on when Gloria de had last been signed onto the site.

Marilyne, I don't let any television show give me stress. Over 30 years ago my cardiologist at the time told me he felt my first heart attack was due to the stress I was under at work and that should avoid stress as much as possible, which I try to do.  However, we all have some stressful times regardless of how to try to avoid it.  The Costco salmon sounds delicious and easy to fix.

MarsGal, sorry you weren't made aware of where the Welsh Society met and hope that is not the case in the future.  Going to Wisconsin for the Welsh Festival would be a long trip.  Pat and I have friends who are very much Scottish and have attended many Scottish Festivals and other activities.  There is a big Scottish Festival held at Stone Mountain, Georgia, which is just a few miles from where they live and where we did live. I also hope we hear from Gloria de soon and also hope she isn't back in the hospital.

Mary Ann

I was glad to see a post here - finally!  Jackie posted but it was midnight here - or so.

Larry, Robin will take the genealogy books to the thrift shop she works at some times.  They date back quite a ways, have a lot of good instructions, but while I am still interested in getting more family information, I'm not into delving too far.  I have known of people traveling to the ancestor locations to get copies of deeds or to find graves.  I have not traveled for genealogical purposes but I have seen a lot of graves just because I was in the area.  I have more books to give to Robin.

Tom finally had to slow down because he is sick - coming out both ends.  I think it is his recent activities that did it rather than food.  When we ate out Wednesday evening, Robin was with us and she and Tom had the same thing.  I haven't heard that she is ill so I don't think it was the food.  I hope I can convince him to space himself now.  His walking 45 minutes didn't help, but I think in the long run it will help him lose weight.  I had a turkey sandwich and haven't gotten ill- yet!

I hope we hear from Gloria de soon.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - It did seem like you and I were "holding down the fort", in here,  most of the day yesterday.  Larry and MarsGal posted in the early morning, but I think that was all who showed up in this folder?

I'm sorry to hear that Tom, is sick this morning.  That is not good, and I hope he will recover very quickly.  If neither you nor Robin gets something similar, then it's probably a 24 hour virus that he picked up at one of the schools where he teaches?

Jackie - good to see you today.  I hope that you're feeling better, and that everything is set for the service on Tuesday?

Larry - I shouldn't have said I felt stressed, watching James on Jeopardy.  That was a poor choice of words on my part.  It's more like I feel annoyed, seeing the large amount of money he has won.  Yes, he is deserving, because he's the best - but I think there should be some sort of cap, put on the amount of million$ that a person can win on the show.  They may work out some sort of a deal/compromise with him?  In the meantime, AJ is enjoying the show more than ever!

I hope that others show up here in Bait & Tackle, today.

FlaJean

It is warm here and temperature supposed to climb to 82.  Not much to write about here——just taking it easy and reading an interesting series of books.  Larry and I both spend a lot of time reading.

Didn't GloriaDe write earlier that her daughter-in-law from Florida was going to visit her May 1st?  I hope Gloria is doing all right.

Larry I have had that feeling you are describing.  I have to be careful in my diet as I do not eat a lot of meat and I have a problem with not enough protein and also not enough potassium.  I learned that from regular lab tests I've had.  That is one reason I like to eat eggs every day and also eat potatoes regularly.  They are two things I not only like but need.

Mary Ann, I don't care for salmon either, although I do like other types of fish.  I love crab cakes.

I haven't been spending much time on the web cams.  I do check them a couple times a day but, of course, at the wrong times apparently.  It seems I have my nose stuck in a book a lot lately.  I'm just not a movie person and don't bother with most movies.  I guess I've always enjoyed a book more than a movie.

As you can see, I don't have much to say.  However, I enjoy reading everyone's post and think of you all.  Praying everything goes well with Jackie as she goes thru the funeral.  Time does heal somewhat but not completely.

Mary Ann

Jean, potassium is one thing I'm short of and I take a pill daily for it.  My eating is rather erratic now with Tom fixing my meals at times, other times I eat a frozen dinner and at other times I fix me a salad or sandwich.  Before Tom came here, I ate salads regularly and had no potassium problem but he decided he'd be the cook and salads don't appear on the table when he does cook.  I think with his weight control program, he may eat at home more often and when he does, he eats wisely.  When he lunches with friends, who knows!?  I think his illness now is a result of his walking a long time and being very tired.  He's got to lose weight because he is much too heavy.  I don't expect him to get back to his teen-age weight but he was not always heavy.  I will say it rather runs in the family.

Since Robin got me started on organizing the computer room, I plan to set aside one hour a day to sort.  Next Wednesday is cleaning day and we will not do anything with the mess, both are on an "every other week" basis.

It isn't raining here, but I have not seen the sun.  I went after the mail and our temperature is 53 degrees.  At least it's dry.

Patricia, are you still battling allergies?  Our season hasn't started yet, but I'll have trouble when it does.

Good morning from a green and rainy Interior. I do not know if other areas experience the greening process we have here in the Arctic. After snowmelt, we usually have the month of April as a sad, gray, black and brown month. I should normally say as with climate change all bets are off.

At the last week of April, there is an event called the greening where within an hour trees bud out, grasses and shrubs turn green, and it is the official nature's way of announcing summer. All of this happens in sixty minutes altho I'm sure other unseen changes lead up to this. Then after Memorial Day, we plant outside and any flowers, veggies or crops needed. With our 24/7 daylight, everything grows.

 From April 29th.
