Mary Ann - You have such a good attitude about the possibility of James and Alicia moving to Indianapolis.  For your sake,  I hope they don't move so far away,  but I know you want whatever is best for them. They might have more opportunity for their future in Indy, but I know you and Tom would miss seeing the twins, as often as you do now.

Patricia - I haven't heard from my son, so I assume that he's still in Anchorage? I think he said he was flying back home on Friday?  I hope the weather was nice up there?  You said it was getting cold already, but that would be a welcome change for him, from all the heat that we still have here.

Jackie - I think we all would like to turn the clocks back in time, and do things differently, if we had the chance.  I think about that often, and can see that if I had made smarter choices, that things would have turned out differently. But then I  tell myself that the choices I made in the past, seemed right to me at the time, and that life has turned out the way it was meant to be.

Marilyne, Anchorage is over four hundred miles south of here and is in the same geothermal zone as Washington and Oregon plus it's coastal and not forested. No real similarities. It's very similar to Vancouver Island.

Mary Ann

James came to talk to his dad and stayed long enough that we all went out to supper.  We've tried several times to get into Bud & Stanley's without success and tonight was no different.  We ended up at Cheers as we usually do.  We all had some sort of sandwich.  I brought half of mine home.  As we came out of Cheers, it was raining lightly and before we got to the car, it started pouring.  Fortunately we are only about a mile from home but Jamie has about an hour trip and the heavy rain will prolong it some.  Tom opened the garage and we ran in there, then out the service door to the porch.  We both got wet and every once in a while I feel a drip from my hair.  The temperature dropped from 80 to 70 degrees in about an hour.

Actually, Marilyn, I'd hate to have James and family move to Indy but if either he or Alicia could get a good job there, I'd be happy.  I like to think my trip to Indy in October will be my last, but if they move there, it probably would not be my last.  I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.  Or will I count chickens instead?!  At least I have several relatives in Indy.

...i too have always believed in..." everything happens for a reason.." but at this moment in time...i cant for the life of me see what good reason if any is going to come out of this... Did Richard have to lose his life for me, so that everything turns out right for me in the end, i think not...

Joy

Good morning. I am just saying a quick hello.

I have been busy for the past couple days.  The days have been nice and the temperature is supposed to be back in the 80's by next week.  I am not ready for summer to be over.

We had a luncheon here on Wed. which was very nice.  It has been a  good while since we have had a lunch. We used to have something about every other month, but things have changed so much lately .  Then, my DIL  was going to Wal-Mart and I needed a new watchband, so I tagged along with her.  Wound up getting some other things, also. When we came out it wad pouring rain , but it was still warm and  we were able to run in between the raindrops. ( I didn't really run, tho) LOL

Jackie, I still keep you in my thoughts and I truly hope that you will be able to make some good decisions real soon.  It is just so hard when you have no one to depend on.  Sure wish there was something that we could all help you with.  But, good thoughts still are flying across the pond to you.  You just will have to keep taking one day at a time.  Sending some
(((((hugs)))))))) to you.

I hope everyone else will have a great day and enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend.  I have no plans right now, but maybe something will come up later.

...thank you and bless you for being concerned over me...Even if and when i get through all this concerning the loss of Richard, and even if i get through a move, get myself away from here.... my MS is worsening, this is one thing i cant do anything about...

Mary Ann

MarsGal, I went all over northern Lake Huron trying to find the two Appledores and had no luck.  I think they may have turned off their IDs.  I even went into Lake Michigan, down to Chicago and no sign of them.  I clicked on the site to find IV and I think they're still north of Port Austin.  Maybe they have friends or family there.  I know someone who used to live there and now lives in Greenville MI.

I had a restless night last night because of my legs and feet.  My neuropathy showed up and my feet were hot while my legs prickled.  It was early morning before I got to sleep.  I think if I take a nap, I'll be in better condition.  I have not figured out why I can go to sleep almost immediately when I take a nap but at night it may be a couple of hours before I get to sleep.  Dot laughs at my naps because they usually are an hour long - on the dot!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann,  I have the same problem . . .  If I lie down for just a minute during the day, I instantly fall asleep.  At night, it's a different story . . . I toss and turn, and my mind works overtime!  Last night, I got up after an hour of discomfort, and went out in the living room and read for a while.  When I got back to bed, I think I fell asleep right away, but it was a restless night overall.  I do believe that daytime naps, influence nighttime sleep, for me.  I know that's not true for most people.

We're going to Office Depot, after lunch today, and look at desk chairs.  Mine is broken down, and needs to be tossed in the nearest dumpster.  I have a hard time finding a comfortable chair of any kind, so I hope to have better luck today.  Then we'll go to the library, and stock up on books for the long weekend, and stop at the local orchard/farm, for tomatoes, and whatever fruit is still available. Last of the season peaches, I hope.

Jackie,  I wish you could get away during the day, to the nearest town . . . just for the change of scenery, and maybe to spend some time at a cafe or coffee shop.  Just being around other people, is good.  Do you have a senior van or car service, that could take you into town, and then pick you up at a specified time and bring you back home?

Mary Ann

Marilyn, when I had my computer room downstairs, I bought a secretary's chair such as I had had at work and gotten along with.  I liked the chair I bought and if I sat at a desk now, I would use the chair.  As it is, I now sit in an occasional chair, also comfortable, and the secretary's chair is at my work station in this room.  It is not a chair to sit in to watch TV or read, but it is good for typing on the computer.  I just recalled the name of the chair - posture chair.  I like the fact it fits my back.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Mary Ann, the Appledores may be heading home to Bay City, MI.

Well, I managed not to venture out into the yard today even though it was nice this morning, chilly even. I'll try to enthuse myself for a little weeding tomorrow.

I've been messing around on the computer again for a good bit of the day. I am trying to find a cat food with high protein, low carbs, grain free, and no artificial colors or flavors and no liver or fish. Oh, and they say no veggies. Why? HAH! Turkey and duck are a no go. That leaves chicken, but you would be surprised that they include liver and fish somewhere down in the ingredient list for a lot of them. One had salt in it, which I never noticed on ingredient lists before. Grain free products often have wheat gluten in them. What is up with that. Wheat is grain.

Marilyne

MarsGal - Maybe your vet has a list of cat food brands that would be just right? Try calling the office and ask them for suggestions.  Is this special diet for Lucy?  I hope she's feeling better, and getting back to normal.  How old is she now?

Mary Ann - We went to Office Depot, and bought a chair.  Of course nothing is ever simple . . . they didn't have the one I liked in stock, so it will have to be ordered. ::)

Is anyone doing anything interesting over Labor Day?   Brad and Jackie are going to her sister's place at Stinson Beach,  and Sandy is going up to Napa, so they'll all be gone for the weekend.  We'll be here, and will probably stay home to avoid the crowds.  We might take a chance on going out for dinner one night, but usually too long of a wait on a holiday weekend.

Mary Ann

I think I've written that Kendrick gets dry kibble and has only had wet food a couple of times.  He wasn't particularly crazy about the wet food.  I've only bought Purina brands but not always the same variety.  I change his food at night when I go to bed and he is always waiting for me so he can eat something "new", even if it's like he had during the day.

Marilyn, I'm trying to remember where I bought my office chair and I think it was Office Depot/Office Max at the same time I bought the computer work station.  If I had a desktop computer, I would use the work station, but a chair is much easier with a laptop.

MarsGal, I had not gone down Saginaw Bay for find the Appledores.  I'll do that and if I find them there, I'll let you know.

I've been working on Robin's genealogy and it's fun to get something concrete because I have so much that nothing is new.

I wonder what supper will be.

The biggest news around here is Hurricane Dorian. Looks like it will be a wild one, but the direction it's going is so uncertain. We are inland and they predict a Category 1 for us. Chape picked up some water, etc. today. Couldn't get any bread, but that's okay. I have some refrigerator biscuits for strawberry shortcake and I'll be making blueberry muffins tomorrow. The blueberries have been waiting for a couple of days but I've had no motivation to do anything.

Jackie - Are you able to get meds, etc. delivered? Thinking of you!

I have a lot of sleepless nights but naps don't seem to make a difference. The other day I took a 2 hr. nap and then slept all night.

Mary Ann - Sorry you had problems with your legs. I also can fall asleep moments after laying down for a nap, but  can lie awake for hours at night.  ???

MarsGal - Once when my cat was sick the vet told me to boil hamburger and mix it with cooked rice. Hope Lucy improves. I've never looked into it but there's a site called Chewy where some people I know buy their pet food, (S&F's own Papa John used it).

Patricia - There are so many things out there to get you that I seldom click on anything. Yesterday my virus protection caught an Adware virus. You also can't trust things that look like they're from friends. I remember once when someone posted an undesirable site (picture included) in Norm's name. He was mortified! I knew it wasn't him because it was so uncharacteristic.

I had an appointment Thursday with my new doctor. I think I'll like this place. Having it so close to home is convenient. I can go there in the golf cart.

Marilyne - Our Labor Day week-end will be spent waiting for Dorian to arrive! It's supposed to show up Monday. We're putting the grill and chairs in the lanai and garage. Also have some large potted plants to bring in.

Posting late again....I just do not know about ME😩

We were suppose to head up to Vail for the holiday weekend, but Bob just did not feel like putting up with crowded roads, etc., so instead we decided to drive up to one of our 14'ers, Mt. Evans, and what a wonderful day we had.  We picked our youngest son Brian up and he rode up with us.   We have not driven up there in several years and after doing it we all said how sad we are that we do not do this drive more often.  Many of you wo7ld love the views, however not the road!  It is a paved two way road, but quite narrow in many spots with no edge on the road.  I drove so I was fine, but I would have been very nervous if I had been a passenger!

Last night we were invited to Megan's Parents home for dinner and to spend a bit of time with Jonah.  He was a bit better with us, but still a little shy.  It was good to be able to be with him again even though it was only for a couple of hours.  They flew home to California today, and Mark sure was happy to have them back home.

Since we did not go to Vail, Dr. Dave and Family dropped of Lola Doodle Dog here before they headed up to Vail. They could not leave until Matt was done with football practice and Kate finished dance.  I am hoping to hear from him soon saying they are there safe and sound.  I hope since they left late that they avoided some of the heavy traffic.

MARY ANN, I am sorry you had leg pain and could not sleep last night.  Hope tonight will be much better.

BEVERLY, we have been keeping an eye on Dorian.....It appears she is going to pack a good punch!  I hope you will be safe and w8ll not have too much damage.  God to read you are happy with the new doctor and it is close for you to get to.

MARILYNE, I was looking forward to a lazy weekend in Vail......our son's place is right on a nice creek and sitting out side listening to the water is very relaxing, but we do plan to take it easy and get a bit of rest this weekend as this coming couple of weeks are going to be demanding for us with Michele's many appointments.  I hope you are able to go out to eat, but I understand it will be crowded!  I hope you enjoy it any way.  I hope AJ has continued to feel stronger every day.  He sounds like he is doing well. I so wish Jackie could just get out for a bit, also.  It would make a world of difference if she could just have a change of pace🥰

JACKIE, it is difficult for us to understand WHY someone can not help you get out to at least go to church.  We are all able to get out and about even if we do not have our own cars we can readily get a ride through a car service.  IF ONLY you had that available to you😢😩

MARSGAL, I hope you can find some food that your kitty can eat.  Good luck.

I must get this posted....sleep well.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Jackie, I'm sorry about your situation.  It's really hard when your spouse dies and his relatives ignore you.  I would hope that they could understand that you need family help and would be willing to help out.  It's terrible that they aren't at all helpful.  Keep us posted and know that we here are to support you from afar.

Cottoncandy - Thank you for posting, Philippians 1-v21-24.  That was very thoughtful of you.

Jackie - You are overwhelmed with all that has happened in your life in the past six months, and all that still needs to be done.  The quicker you leave your home, and move to a city, the better for you.  I know you cannot do it alone, but you can ask your solicitor to direct you, as to getting immediate help from the government, NHS or whatever is available for someone who is disabled.  Don't think anymore about getting help from Richard's family or from your family.  Forget about the unfriendly neighbors.  Try to let go of your anger toward those who have turned their backs on you.  They will not change, so it is time to move forward without them.

Philippians 1:21-24 New International Version (NIV)

21: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22: If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23: I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24: but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

Wise words indeed, and food for thought but...I know my Richard had no desire on parting, that was the last thing on his mind, on that morning he got up, drove Toby to the pet groomers, came home for those couple of hours with the intention of driving the 20-30 minutes back to go collect him...His death was sudden and unexpected to the both of us on that morning, mid-day...Even the petgroomer was shocked to hear Richard had died after leaving her home after dropping off our dog, told me later he seemed fine, even made a fuss of her dog, said when he comes back to collect our dog he would bring some treats for her dog...well Richard never made it back...

Cottoncandy

I apologize...that was meant for another forum....don't know how that happened

...no offence taken and no apology needed.... infact i found it rather comforting...It was if my Richard was privately speaking to me...toying up his dilemma, even though he had no desire to go....I once asked him one evening around last Christmas, as we were heading out to go somewhere, i asked " Richard are you dying.." as if it just hit me, that we maybe dealing with something serious...his reply to me was  " i'm not sure "

Denver

A good Saturday evening.

I can not believe it is the last day of August....it is my brother's Birthday, so I know it is....but!  How can another month be gone?  It is also the 22nd anniversary of Princess Diana's untimely death😩😢 I will never forget the date.  We were at a wedding in Auburn Alabama, and it was so sad for everyone to hear about the accident😢

I just returned from a little visit with my Neighbor Pam, the lady that had to have her legs amputated a couple of years ago.  She has been having some remodeling done on her place and I wanted to see how it was going.  The best news she shared is that her wounds on both legs are beginning to heal and she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. She has had such a rough time.....I pray that she can soon be able to get her prosthetics on and walk again. 🙏🙏

JACKIE, how sweet that you found comfort in COTTONCANDY'S accidental post in this forum!  Obviously MARILYNE thought it was fitting as well.....so COTTONCANDY all is well that ends well🥰

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Cotton Candy - Sometimes mistakes happen for a reason. When I saw the verse I thought maybe it was for Jackie. Since it gave Jackie some comfort, it wasn't a mistake after all!

Looks as if my area will be spared from Dorian. I hope so. I'm still concerned for my niece in Daytona Beach and my friend in Jacksonville. My niece lives a short walk from the water and has been flooded more than once by a hurricane. Also thinking of Johann in Myrtle Beach. South Carolina is still in the path, but not the direct path.

I baked the biscuits and had strawberry shortcake for dinner. Also made the blueberry muffins.  I tried a new recipe. It's easy so will make it again if I like them. I didn't have tummy room for one.  :)

Jenny - Happy Birthday to your brother. This is also the anniversary of my  aunt's 109th birthday. She passed away at the age of 94. She was my mother's favorite sister and like a second mother to me.

No word from Mary Ann today?

Good night all.

[Good morning. I am here just to mark my place.  Too early for anything to have happened exiting.  I have had my breakfast and taken my medicine.  Stopped by here to wish you all a Good Morning on this 1st day of Septemver. Where has this summer gone?  Just can't believe that winter is on it's way.  Sure not looking forward to those cold, snowy days.  One of our almanacs has predicted a long, cold, snowy winter.   I sure hope they are wrong.

Jackie, I still am hoping that something will turn up soon for you to get some much needed help for your situation.  You are in my thoughts.   Stay strong!!!

I hope everyone will  have a nice Sunday.

Joy/b]
BIG BOX

Marilyne

Joy - looks like you're the first one here this morning.  I think Mary Ann, is probably at Church, and then will be enjoying lunch with Dot, at the Cholesterol Pit!
Joy, I agree with you, that it's hard to believe today is September First!   However, August did seem longer to me, than usual.  Probably because of AJ's surgery at the first part of the month, and then our older daughter and granddaughter were here for two weeks to help out.  When they left, the month was still only half over, and the second half seemed to move very slowly.

Beverly - I've been thinking about you, and it's good to hear that hurricane  Dorian, will not hit hard in your area.  Now I'm worrying about Jean, (FlaJean), and hope that she is far enough North and on the Gulf side, so she is safe?  Also our old friend here in B&T, Shirleyn?  I hope she is safe, as well as Johann?

Jenny - Glad to hear that your neighbor is doing better, and will soon be healed enough to learn to walk again.  I can't imagine how depressing it has been for her, and hope that she recovers completely.  I'm also thinking about Michele, and hope that she gets the Gamma Knife treatment, this coming week?

Mary Ann

I've just gotten home from church and the Cholesterol Pit where Dot and I had our usual.  It looked as if we had a light rain while in church, but now it seems to be dry.  Tom will be in Fremont, visiting a friend who lives in Phoenix but has been here for a few weeks following both of his parents deaths, funeral and followups.  Tom and the friend talk often, but this will be the last time they will see each other for some time.  The friend has two sisters, but neither live in Michigan.

Beverly, I hope Dorian does not hit your area.  Shirleyn is inland quite a ways so she may be missed by Dorian too.  Jean is near the Gulf and might be south of where Dorian would hit.  But those people north - such as Johann may bear the brunt of the storm.

Joy, I was in earlier, but had nothing to say at that time.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

This is one monstrous hurricane.  We will be way west of the hurricane if the present tracking is correct.  Gigi and Jeff are on their way home from vacation.

In 2004 we had 4 hurricanes come through Marion County where we lived in north central Florida.  We were without power for about a week with one of them.  Inland it is mostly rain, downed trees and some wind damage.  A house on the next street from us had a tree fall on their house.

Beverly, you might see a lot of trees down and some loss of power even in your area depending on whether the hurricane moves, but I hope not.

Marilyne, every time I watch HGTV episodes about island living, I always think about hurricane season and if they will still love island living when the weather isn't bright and sunny.

Mary Ann, I'm glad you and Dot had your usual Sunday morning church and "cholesterol Pit" meeting.

Hope everyone has a good day.  My prayers right now for the people in the Bahamas.  They are getting the brunt of a wicked storm.
