So how's your day going?

Mary Ann

Patricia, I love the picture of the dog, complete with frog on its head.  I'd like it even without the frog.

Tom's friends came and dismantled my computer room.  It needed doing.  As much as I wanted to keep everything there, I knew things had to go.  I had a huge work station for  a desktop which I no longer used and I had ended up using it as a storage unit, both in drawers, doors and counters and it was a mess.  There was room only for me.  Robin's son and a friend came and took everything off also from inside and took it apart and took it to a thrift place for resale.  This place is a mess.  In place of the work station, Tom bought two wire shelves to put along a wall and as much as possible will go on the shelves and some stuff must go.  I'm tired just looking at the shelves, realizing how much work went into today.  In the end, it is going to cost me a pretty penny but should look much nicer.  Of course, the dining and living rooms now look awful.  The funny part has been watching Kendrick nosing around sniffing various things because he has not seen this room like this.  I think he found something that moved and I let him play with it.  There still is more to go but I'll have to get at it, sort and place it.  I hope I'm up to it.  I can now put two ebony chairs in here for others to sit in here.

My next project will be to make sure all bills are paid and try to get started on my taxes.

Mary Ann

Jeanne, today Tom gave me some mail I had received while I was gone and there was a card from you, so I'd like to thank you.  Not everyone has my home address so I did not hear from any others.

Kendrick is still nosing around the room, investigating.  He's kind of funny.

Tom just came home from returning the truck they used and he had supper but he is now going to heat the rest of the goulash for me.  Afterward, I'll call Dot because I want some of her kielbasa and sauerkraut.  I'd have to buy the ingredients and hers is so good.  My supper has just been placed on my walker.

I miss Jackwv too. I got in with him and Sue because I was born in WVa but I did not stay there, moving to Michigan at age 1 1/2.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

MaryAnn. Glad the card got to you. Sent it a couple of weeks ago and figured Tom would deliver but then he left and got sick.
You sound to be getting things in order at home. My area where the Desktop Computer is in such a mess also but at least I can close the door on it. It is a big cabinet. My whole house has to much stuff in it. 58 years of collecting things but I am try to get rid of some things now.
Keep up getting better and better everyday

Mary Ann - How nice of Tom's friends, and Robin's son to spend time rearranging,  as well as eliminating things, in your computer room.  Something I'm always planning to do, and should do, but it never happens. I know it would make me feel good to have a "clean slate".  On the other hand,  as I've gotten older, I have a hard time dealing with change.

Cats generally don't like change, so I can imagine that Kendrick was not happy with things getting moved or removed!   When Winnie, was here, I remember him becoming nervous but curious, whenever something new was brought into the house - like a new chair, or if the TV was moved from one side of the room to another.

Not many members posting messages today, but weekends are usually quiet in Seniors and Friends.  I hope Joy is doing well?  Also hope to hear from Jenny and Jean, as I mentioned this morning.

Patricia - That picture of the dog with the frog, is so cute!

One afternoon I went to the St Clair River and a tug was coming down the river.  I thought of MarsGal.  Movement on the river is almost nil these days. Port Huron is pretty at night because of the lights.  Speaking of MarsGal, I think I have not seen a post from her but I have been so confused with all of the activity, she may have posted.

Tom heated my supper tonight so while I ate, I called Dot and killed two birds with one stone, so to speak.  She is doing well and keeping busy. She said she said she may bring me a Tuna Melt after church tomorrow since I am not going to church now.

My Light Classical channel has enlarged the letters on the screen.  Since it is a music channel, it doesn't matter; I don't have to look at it, but the letters and numbers are distorted.

I'm around Mary Ann, I just haven't had much to contribute lately, not in here anyway.

I've been checking the St. Clair River off and on, but have been missing most of the activities because I have been busy elsewhere or had my nose in a book. I did catch Hollyhock when she came back in off the lake yesterday.

A week or so ago the local paper noted that the annual migration of the Snow Geese and the swans arrived at Middle Creek, a big resting place for them on their travels north. In the last week, I have started seeing early several early arrivals in my backyard. Yesterday, I heard a robin but didn't see it; my sister, on the other hand did see one. Also, on my trip over and back to feed George's cats I saw a large grouping of hawks soaring around. The Bald Eagles have been back in Central PA for a few weeks and are nesting. The eagles, geese and swans are always earlier than the smaller birds, but even so, February seems a bit early to me.

Mary Ann

I'm glad to see your post this morning, MarsGal, to know you're still around.  When in Rehab, I heard plenty of birds, but they all sounded like sparrows which are here all year round.  I don't sit in a location to see any birds

Last evening I sat in my "new" room and mentally placed some of the things that were moved.  I'll wait until Robin is here to have it done because I don't want Tom to move things as his back is not in shape yet.

This morning I sat for an hour before deciding to get up and getting my own breakfast.  I don't want Tom to have to wait on me, although he is very willing, but I've got to help myself whenever I can.

The cat is still curious about this room and  he lies on the floor and whirls around, chases something I can't see, comes and goes.  His bed is in my bedroom but we will move it back in here and I think he will be happy.

I don't know what is on my agenda today except thinking where I want things.  Many things are in boxes, and I will have to sort them.  I've got to get the boxes off the davenport so the living room can look more decent.  Rome wasn't built in a day and I'll prove it!!!

Mary Ann

FlaJean

I've missed several days but just read the posts.  The sun is shining on a cool day in the 50s.

No good news from me.  But I'm glad to read good news that Mary Ann is home.

Joy, it is good to hear you are improving.

Jackie, I'm praying things will work out soon so you can leave that area and not be so isolated.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Marilyne

JEAN - Good to see your message this morning.  Even if you feel you have nothing to say, we want to hear from you, that you and Larry are okay.  I'm been thinking about you a lot, and sending prayers to you and your family.

MARY ANN - I know you'll be glad when everything is sorted out in your house!  I don't mind when things are shuffled around and out of place for a few days, but then I get tired of it and I want order!  A new week is starting again tomorrow, so maybe Robin will have the time to come over and start organizing.  I hope Dot stops by today, with a Tuna Melt, from the Cholesterol Pit!  That will be satisfying, and make you feel good.  I sure does sound good to me right now, even though I just ate a bowl of oatmeal with cherries, for breakfast.

MARSGAL - You keep a good watch on all the migratory birds in your area. The California flyway, from Canada, runs through the middle of the state, so we rarely see flocks of any birds flying over this area.  We don't have any lakes or rivers to speak of, here on the coast.  We sure see lots of seagulls though!

Mary Ann

Tom is gone for the afternoon - a fund raiser for the sister of a friend.  The sister has cancer, younger than Tom.  I'm glad Tom trusts that I will be OK in his absence, but it is much nicer when there is another person around, even not sitting with me.  Yes, Dot brought a whole Tuna Melt an I ate 1/4 of a half so my supper is here.  All I have to do is put it in the microwave.

Kendrick is still nosing around investigating and at present he has found a sunny spot and is right in the middle of it.  I know cats like the sun.

I was going to watch golf but it doesn't start until 2:30 ET, an hour away.  It's kind of nice sitting here in this almost empty room.  Much that  will go in here is in boxes that will have to be sorted and some things will have to go.

Jean, It was good to see something from you.  I seem to be so wrapped up in my own self these days that I don't realize others may not post.  I still believe that others have problems that are worse than mine and I just hope my health problems subside.

It is a beautiful sunny day and the censor is in the sun, so shows 60 degrees - and I don't believe that!  But with the sun shining, it is a beautiful day!

Good afternoon, Mary Ann.  I'm glad you've made it home and things are looking up for you.  You've been brave and seem to be taking things well now.  Just be careful and don't overdo it.  I know you won't want to return to the hospital.

Thoughts and prayers for you for a complete recovery.  I hope your family will be helpful and you'll be feeling tip top very soon.

Good mid-morning from the bit cooler Interior! Hello to all who've posted today!

Farrah is the same; she has taken to laying on one of the shelves by the window now that our light shows earlier. I'm still battling this head/ear congestion and hope to see the doctor next week. I'm always on my self imposed quarantine, can't hear anything anyway.

I did get my desktop computer back from HP, but now my monitor isn't turning on, and I don't know if it is a cord or the screen. In any case, next week I'll need a new one. It seems all I do is gripe these days when I'm not reading, sleeping, or boxing up items for either trash or donations.

MaryAnn, it's so good to hear you are home and making progress. I know you will enjoy a newly clean and revamped computer room when finished. Kendrick is probably glad to have you back as well! Cats do enjoy their routines.

Farrah doesn't have much regard for my intuitiveness. She will catch my eye, call out a nyet a couple of times, and then lead me to either her food cupboard in the morning or to her treat cupboard in the afternoon. She now takes dry kibble from my hand, which is new.

I hold it out to her between finger and thumb. She was hesitant at first, but when she saw I wouldn't drop it, she gave in and had a careful bite. She has come a long way from 2016! Alan has begun training his cats with a clicker, and so far, both have learned to shake hands and not to eat until he clicks.

I haven't been to see the boats or other cams altho I do watch YouTube daily as I tend to watch animal videos. I'm aware that FDR took time to renovate his house, and now he's marrying his longtime girlfriend, who is also a cat foster and boards cats. But it's been months, and several are beginning to drop hints on his YouTube channel.

Mary Ann

I am watching golf as I sit here.  I was up earlier then ate my breakfast after which I felt I needed a nap.  I woke up about noon and realized I was not dresssed for the day yet so I thought I should get dressed.  I've been up ever since.

Patricia, you mentioned Farrah; I'll tel you what Kendrick did!  The sun was shining at noontime and I could not see the computer screen.  He found the center of the sun on the floor and parked himself right in the middle.  When the sun move, so did Kendrick.  When the sun left, Kendrick left!  It really has been a nice day and I think the temps have been very nice and in the mid-40s; it  is 47 now.

I wonder if your ladies give me more credit than I deserve in my recuperation.  I went to the kitchen to fix myself something to eat and things are a mess.  Poor  Robin, she worked hard to get things moved, then left things where she had them put.  I managed to find a plate.  Dot had brought me a Tuna Melt, which its usual goodness,; I found a plate to heat it, did so and ate it.  I still have more for tomorrow.  Dot has her neighbor going with her and they now share the Tuna melt.

I am sure I will head for bed around 9 pm which is early for me  I wake up earlier  too but that is the way the ball bounces.

I may be back later.

Denver

Sunday HELLO to ALL!

I have been on this iPad nearly non stop all weekend.  Granddaughter Kate is at a dance competition and it is streamed online.....not very well though, unfortunately, as it keeps cutting in and out, but I have been glued to the screen trying t9 watch her.  IF she is not dancing then I a: looking at pictures tha5 our youngest son is sharing on their trip and then I a: looking at pictures that a friend is sharing from their world tour on the Queen Mary II.  Currently they were in Perth Western Australia.  My goodness the pictures are amazing.  Some of you remember The Thomas Family who live there?  We have been invited to go to Perth and visit them and I would certainly like to do it as I would love to see Perth!

We had a lot of snow over night.....it is really wet so has melted quite a bit already, but we probably got a good 3 inches!  Now bring on the spring flowers!!  Do not think that is going to happen anytime soon......still a lot of winter left for us here😩

Our oldest son and the boys came down from Vail early this morning and have already landed in Boston.  The DIL had to take a different flight as she had a death in the family and had to go to Chicago for that.  I am so sad as we did not even get to see them while they were here......mostly due to our inability to leave due to helping out with the children AND the weather.  Snow every other day did not work out well for a quick drive up the hill.....just does not seem right that they were here tho so close and yet we did not get to see them😩😢

MARY ANN, it sounds like you are making out pretty well at home, in spite of all the changes that are being made in your home.  Poor Kendrick probably is very confused by all of it, as you are!  Change is not always easy to take, but hopefully everything being done will be good for you in the long run.  I sure hope Dot was able to bring you by the Tuna Melt.....but Lordy, surely she would not forget a piece of cream pie too, will she?

JACKIE, I am sorry you are dealing with more health issues.  I hope to look up some of the names you have mentioned.

JEAN, it good to see your post.  I continue to hold positive thoughts and say prayers for your grandson......I do hope he is doing better and had a good visit with his parents🙏

MARSGAL, I have seen so many huge flocks of geese around here AND pictures from others of Sandhill Cranes and snow geese....the birds are really on the move!

PATRICIA, that doggie sure is looking calm and mighty cute with that frog on his head....thanks for sharing!  I hope you do get in to see your doctor as this ear issue.  My hubby still has his vertigo so he will see a therapist on Tuesday.

JOY, it is good to see your posts and know that you seem to be recovering well after your fall.  Keep up the rehab so you can get back to your home soon, HOPEFULLY!

MARILYNE, thank you for mentioning me....I seem to always attempt to at least post a bit, but then I lag behind and write a NOVEL.  H ope things are going well for you.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

The golf matches are over and I'd love to go to bed now and I may.  However, I really do not want to get up at 3 am because of going to bed early.  I think Tom is in bed now.  He says he feels better each day which is encouraging.

I have no idea where Kendrick is except he is not in this room, nor is he in my bedroom so he probably is in the living room or in the family room.  He does not sleep with me all night.

In the morning I have an appointment with my PCP and the next day I have an appointment with someone from AT&T about an alarm to wear.  Tom has taken care of a lot of things to be done.  I hope I have time to pay bills and get started on my taxes.  But I will have in-home OT and/or PT for a few weeks.

I'll roam around S&F now to see who to respond to then go to bed.

Mary Ann

Beverly

I just caught up on the posts and I apologize for neglecting all of you. I wrote a long message and managed to lose the whole thing. I'm having mouse problems. Half the time I can't find the cursor.  I'll see if Chape can fix it tomorrow. Maybe a new mouse?

Mary Ann - I'm happy to see you are home. Poor Kendrick must be confused with all that's going on.  :) I hope Tom feels better soon and that he's heard from the cardiologist.

I'll try to re-create my post tomorrow. My eyes are getting tired and Chape is already in bed. He had some extensive dental surgery a couple of days ago and has been hurting. Plus he can only eat liquid or pureed foods.

Good night all.

Mary Ann

Hi Beverly, it is good to be home but I miss the attention I got at Rehab.  They would bring my pills to me whereas I have to take care of them here.

Tom is improving.  He did hear from his cardiologist and just now is heading to where he will have a blood draw, but not at the same place I expect to have mine.  Shortly after he returns, I have a doctor's appointment as a followup to my heart attack experience so we are  busy with appointments.

In the process of moving things in and out of this room, the cat's food was put in a place where I cannot reach it and there is almost no food in the bowl.  Tom will have to get at it and we'll have to relocate where he eats.  I feel sorry for him, but I can't get the things out of the way.

It looks as if we will have another sunny day  for which I am thankful.

How long will Chape be on his liquid diet?

I'm going to see about my own breakfast and I think I will pour the cat a bit of milk to see if tat will satisfy him for the time being.

Good morning, Mary Ann and other Bait and Tacklers.  I'm glad you're home, Mary Ann, and hope to get more positive messages from you.  You've healed marvelously fast and I know you are happy to be home.  I also hope Tom is feeling better, too.  He's been a real help to you over the years.  Take care and try not to overdo--a relapse wouldn't be fun!

Sue

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Here's hoping everything runs smoothly at your follow-up appointment this morning.  The same applies to Tom, when he sees his cardiologist.  We are fortunate to have so many different medical specialists looking after us when we need them.

Last week I had an appointment with the audiologist.  It was the first time I had ever had my ears tested, and I was not too happy with the results.  I have what is called a "severe" hearing loss. :o  Sounds bad, but AJ's is even worse.  His is called "profound", which is as bad as it gets.  He recently got new hearing aids from the VA, and they're the best he's ever had.  Of course I don't qualify for the VA, so will probably go to Costco.

Beverly - Good to see a message from you!  I hope Chape has recovered from his dental surgery?  I can see trouble ahead for me, as far as dental problems are concerned . . . pain in upper back molar will have to be diagnosed soon. Let us know how Donna, is doing?  I hope she is still all-clear, since her chemo?

Jenny - what a shame that your oldest son and his family were here from Boston, and you didn't have a chance to see them!  I'm sure they understand that you have obligations with the other grandkids, until Michele is feeling better.  I hope her recent chemo is not as debilitating as the last round of treatments that she had during the Summer?  Healing prayers always going out to her.

We started out with some sun but then we had a rain shower and now it is overcast but warm at 64°.

We got our Car tags for two years.  Larry isn't a fan of doing official things online so we sat and waited an hour for a 5 minute transaction.  But don't have to repeat that job until March 2022.

Then we dropped by the closed library to stick a couple of almost due books in the book container.  Finally we were home and had some lunch.  Now I have a load of clothes almost ready to go into the dryer.  Been a busy day.

Mary Ann, I know the frustration when things are out of reach. I usually yell for Larry to get the dish, etc. as he is so afraid of me standing on the foot stool since I fell last year.  I try to keep things I use often on low shelves but occasionally Larry will put something too high for me.  He is tall and just doesn't think about it.

Marilyne, I don't remember if you mentioned AJ's results.  I hope everything was good!

I think of you all and enjoy reading the posts.  Now I have to go put the clothes in the dryer.  Have a good day all.

Patricia, that cat was mesmerize by the music.  I've never heard Kendrick on the piano but that probaby is because the keys are covered at all times.  I bought the girls a keyboard for their birthday and they both like to play it.  Johanna does better than Eleanor.  I would do the same for the other families but I don't know their interests.

A therapist was here around noon and either he or a co-hort will be here Friday for one phase of my recuperation.  It seems they all call to come at the same time.  It gets confusing.  I want to get better, but I can't do all sorts of therapy at the same time.

That is some dog, to allow a frog on its head.

My visit to the doctor went well.  He explained somethings and answered questions and it probably was one of my better visits with him.  He usually talks so fast that I don't get what he is saying but Tom goes with me and he does understand him better.

Marilyn, if you get hearing aids similar to mine, they will help immensely  I am very happy I changed vendors.  I went to AVA which seems to be a chain, at least there are more than one in Grand Rapids.  I'm sorry the VA doesn't include spouses.  Tom got his glasses at Costco and is very happy with them.

Jean, the cat food was a table or two away from me and I finally moved a card table so Kendrick could get some food.  He was very grateful!

Robin should be here tomorrow so some things should be in place for me.

Patricia - Haburu, is what's known as a "Cool Cat"!  I love those videos, and I love him too. What a charming little guy he is!  I plan on sending those links to some cat lover friends, as well as to my daughter and granddaughter, Shelley and Claire.

Mary Ann - glad things went well at the cardiologists.  I don't blame you for being slightly stressed over all the therapists coming at irregular hours.  I guess things will fall in place, and you'll get used to it, and maybe even look forward to it?

Jean - Same thing happening here in our house, as far as reaching up or bending way down is concerned.  AJ can access things from the high shelves, but I especially need him to reach into the lower shelves and drawers.  He also empties the bottom rack of the dishwasher for me.    The appointment with his oncologist, isn't until Thursday, but he is able to see the results of his Pet Scan on the online Patient Portal.  It looks to us like there is nothing showing on the scan that looks worrisome?  Of course the doctor can read the results much better than we can, so he won't know for sure until Thursday.

Mary Ann

Tom is the one who went to the cardiologist; I went to my PCP.  Tom furnished me a nice supper but there was too much.  Supper was steak, potatoes and broccoli, all things I like but there was too much.  I don't know how much Tom had but it was enough for him.  Tom orders small steaks.

Tom still has a lot of sleep in his system, but with something going on day after day after day, he is going to bed.  It is 7:42 pm and I know it won't be long before I follow him.  Tomorrow will probably start about 9 or 9:30 am.

I have the TV on now, and I'm sure the cat will not be mesmerized like the Japanese cat.

The last call I had regarding therapy was from an occupational therapist.  I found out they show people how to dress.  I feel I have had no trouble, especially since my arms are free.  I really resent the calls I've had, since there have been so many.

I'm not ready yet, but I will follow Tom to bed soon.

Mary Ann

Beverly

Mary Ann - Would it help if you had one of those pill boxes with the days of the week on it? They make some fairly large ones that can take the bigger pills. Then you could keep it on a table or shelf that's easy to reach. Glad you found a way for Kendrick to get some food. :) I do hope your therapists get organized!

Marilyne - Sorry about your report from the audiologist. I can't hear anything in my right ear and a hearing aid won't help but I have one in my left ear. I still have to ask people to repeat sometimes. Especially the soft spoken ones. I hope AJ's PET scan is clear. Donna is doing great. She and her husband are on their way to Florida. They'll be here Wednesday. They're spending a few days in Tennessee, scouting out good places to retire. Both of them are retiring in December. She's very excited about that!

Jackie - I hope you're having some better days now. Does this type of MS have flare-ups?

Joy - Hope you continue to improve.

Jenny - You've had your share of snow and cold weather lately. Same with my family up north. March will be here in a few days. Spring is on it's way!  :)  Good luck to Bob with the therapist for his vertigo. Sorry he's been dealing with it for so long!

Antiques Roadshow just came on so I'll see you later!

Monday flew by for me.....seems that is how most of my days go!

Oliver Doodle's mom and dad arrive home safely from their trip and he sure was excited to see them!

Bob picked Grandson Matt up from school and took him to his basketball game, so it has been very quiet around here this afternoon.  I got a couple of loads of laundry done today but that is about it.

BEVERLY, it is good to see your post and to read that Donna is doing well.  How nice that she will be coming to you for a visit as they are on their way to Florida.  Nice that she and her hubby will both retire in the near future.  I hope they find things to their liking in TN.  We have been having way too much cold and snow.... Bob is very hopeful they can help him with his vertigo.  Best of luck to Chape on his dental surgery.

MARY ANN, so glad your appointment went well at your doctor.  Your dinner sounded good.  I hope Tom starts to feel much better very soon.  This flu bug really does wipe folks out.  Good luck dealing with the rehab folks.....sometimes they can go on your nerves, but it is good that they are coming to see you to make sure you are doing OK.

MARILYNE, I have the same problem with needing help getting things that are too high, or too low and far back where I can not reach them....thank goodness for our hubby's!  I have wondered if AJ got the report from his PET Scan?  I certainly hope it was/is clear!

Hubby is home and I need to get his dinner.

Have a good evening.

Beverly...
... no it is constant throughout each and every day, it is changeable and unpredictable through the day, basically it does what it wants to the body when it chooses to....thank you for asking...

Well here i am 3.30 am...had a few hours sleep, been up 30 minutes already.

Beverly

I watched the Antiques Roadshow and then another show I like on HGTV. It's a young couple in Mississippi and right now it's my favorite thing on that channel. Chape was watching the Brooklyn Nets basketball. They lost! Also did some texting with daughter Lauri while watching TV and doing the chest vest therapy. Multitasking!  :) The vest therapy is noisy but I have a good set of Wi-Fi earphones.

Today I had a follow-up appointment at the doctor's. Chape is changing doctors and today was his first appointment. Now we both have the same doctor.

Jackie - Hope you get some sleep.

Time for bed. Good night all.
