Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Marilyne, hoping and praying all will be OK with your daughters and granddaughter.  I wonder if they will be tested or even if the hospital has the tests?  I think they test first for regular flu?

Mary Ann, you seem to be better?  It takes longer to recover as we age.  I just watched the Governor of New York.  They are doing lots of testing.  The more tests the more convid-19 they are finding.  They say New York State has done more testing than even China or South Korea.  I saw an interview with your new governor and she is impressive.

Jackie, hope everything goes well with you.  Not a good time for anyone but especially for people alone.

Gigi felt a little tightening in her chest yesterday but now thinks it was her imagination working overtime.  She had walking pneumonia a couple of years ago and has a tendency for bronchitis, etc., so she is being very careful to keep her distance from anyone.  We are doing the same.

Our grandson is still in the hospital.  The hospital is splitting itself into two areas. One is strictly for covid-19.  So our grandson was moved into another area but can have no visitors.

I downloaded a couple of digital books from the library and Larry is busy reading.  I started watching the documentary "The Royal House of Windsor" and it is very interesting.  Think I will go watch a little Netflix.

Beverly, I know you'll be happy win the girls are back on home soil.  It is a worrisome time, for sure.  Yes, the weather has really been nice.  Sunny and 75°.  Supposed to get some rain coming Tuesday.  That was supposed to be this weekend but "they" were wrong so we'll see.

Hope everyone has a good day if possible with all this bad news.

Beverly

We spent a good part of the morning messaging/texting with our daughter. Lauri is still trying for an earlier flight, but none are available. Everyone is trying to get out of Thailand and back home. As of tomorrow morning. Bangkok will be closing all restaurants, stores and other public places. (Their time is 11 hours ahead of ours.)  Right now they are in a Marriott hotel, sleeping, and will contact us when they get up. They are nervous but keeping their spirits up. Fortunately they have each other.

Mary Ann

Jackie, I know you have been trying to sell your house for some time, which is the reason I used "could" instead of "would".  I am sure the virus doesn't help matters.  I wonder what I would do if I had to sell this place.  It is slated to go to Tom at my death, but if it would be necessary to sell it, he would have to go somewhere.  I still have Social Security and Pension coming so those probably would keep things going and maybe I would not have to sell it.  Right now I'm feeling positive that in six months things will be different and I'll feel better.

Jean, I love your temperatures, even in summer I like them.  The sun is shining, so I can truthfully say it is a beautiful day!!!

Tom has gone out on errands and will bring back a smoothie for my lunch.  Whatever he brings will be a surprise and what Annie has brought back has been a lovely surprise.  Tom did not know if Annie will be here today or not.  She stays with a friend whie here.  Her cat is sleeping in the same room with me after some time.  It was almost like he was not sure who I was and he kept to himself.

My eyes are bothering me today as things are light and almost unreadable.  I am wearing my computer glasses which should make seeing easier.  My optometrist can do no more.  I doubt I'll go blind, but seeing is hard today.

Beverly, one more thing to worry about.  I hope the girls are safe and sound and a way will be found to get them out of Thailand.
Mary Ann

Marilyne

Here's the latest information on my daughter and granddaughter.   They went to the hospital, because Shelley was worried about Claire's high fever, and her own breathing problems and cough.  The hospital is the only one in town, and had tents set up at the ER entrance, to screen people. Lots of sick people there. Bottom line is that they were screened and sent home.  She asked for a Covid-19 test for Claire, but they didn't have any tests.  As I've mentioned in the past, Claire is an adult, with autism, so it's difficult for anyone to deal with her if she doesn't know them - especially when she is scared and strangers are asking her questions. anyway, they are home now, and about the same, only Claire's temp is down to 100 degrees.

Beverly - I know you are so worried about your girls, stranded in Thailand!! Please keep us posted, as to whether they will be able to fly out?   As you said, they have each other, and the Marriott Hotel is probably nice.

Jean - It will be so hard on Jason, not to be able to have visitors! I understand that it would be terrible if he got exposed to CV, but still, he needs the ongoing support and encouragement from his wife and family. I hope he can text or talk on the phone to them?

Jackie - Now with Coronavirus everywhere, It's probably a good thing that your neighbors are basically unfriendly, and never visit.  I just hope that you can be in touch with any services that you will need in the near future.

Mary Ann - I hope your eyes are better this afternoon, and that Tom brought you something good for lunch. Nice that Annie is still around, and coming to visit.  You're luck to have Kendrick there with you.  I wish I had a fluffy kitty cat to pet and talk to . . . they say that it's very good therapy for people whop are feeling stressed and anxious.

Marilyn, what a worry.  I hope by both being sent home that it means they don't have the right symptoms.

Tom brought me a smoothie that tasted much like I had before - a pineapple/mango combo and it was good.

I have neglected my eyes since I had the heart attack, which was nearly two months ago.  It is like a film being over the screen so I hope putting in the drops again will bring back some of my vision.  I had an appointment with my optometrist in early February when I was in the hospital.  If nothing changes, it is my fault because nothing was done in February or March so far.

My fuzzy kitty is napping in this room and he really has been avoiding me so I hope by his sleeping nearby means he knows who I am now.  He is not a cuddly cat, but I like to have him nearby so he can walk by and I can  pet him.

Mary Ann

CallieOK

Good Afternoon,

Marilyne,  how scary for your daughter and granddaughter - especially with the autism challenges.  I do hope Claire's fever continues to go down and all will be well for them.

Beverly, also scary that your loved ones are in a foreign country.  I just read that the FAA has suspended all flights into the NYC/Newark airports - domestic or international.  Am wondering how people who need public transportation are going to get from Point A to Point B anywhere.  Maybe hitch-hike with truckers? (not really)

You asked if the redbud, etc. are blooming. Bradford Pear trees have bloomed ( :tissue:) and are  now fully leafed out. I can still see some wild plum and other white flowering things behind the fence.  Can't see any Redbud but I'm sure it's gorgeous in the eastern part of the state.
I-35 is basically the dividing line between the heavily timbered eastern and the flat high plains western parts of the state.  Lots of differences in climate and growing conditions between the two.  My landscape designer son constantly has issues with clients who insist they want some kind of tree/shrub/flower because their (pick a relative) has it in their yards in Tulsa.

Jackie, several articles in the Real Estate section of today's paper about the marketing situation.  Of course, they are all optimistic and I suppose there will be those who take advantage of trying to lower the price on anything they want to buy.

Jean  wishing the best for your loved ones, too.  I'm "allowing" myself a Netflix movie night a couple of times a week.  Watched "Five Floors Up" last night and really enjoyed it.  I posted a comment in the Television forum.

Mary Ann,  I'm assuming Annie makes the long drive from Tulsa because of work?  Is she any more comfortable being there (Tulsa)?

My week has basically been the same as any stretch of days when there's nowhere I have to be.  I'm not a mall wanderer or feel the need to "get out and go".  Other than not being able to be outside because of the weather, I'm comfortable.

Sending Good Thoughts to Everyfriend as we deal with life that will be part of the Family History Tales for our descendants.  (instead of an elbow-bump  ;) )

MarsGal

Marilyne, sorry to hear that your daughter and granddaughter are sick now. I hope for the best and it will be a mild case.  George will be in Mansfield until Wednesday, so I have three more days of back and forth to check on the cats. fortunately, that only involves our houses and the car trip in between.

Today, I did some housework, put in a new handle and toilet flapper  :flush: , and installed an old mahjong game that I like, so you know what I was doing this afternoon for a while.  ::) And I didn't even take a nap today.

Beverly, I hope Lauri, et.al. make it back okay.

Take care everyone. Hope for the best.

Mary Ann

Callie, when Annie comes home, she flies then rents a truck (her choice) while she is here.  The company is building a new building there and she has a hand in some part of the construction and when she's here, she works on her computer.

Many people here are buying take-out meals from the various restaurants because we don't want them to go out of business.  There are about a dozen restaurants, probably more, to choose from so I've been looking at menus online to make a choice.  I think I will pick different restaurants each week.  My mouth is watering for baked tilapia and/or roast beef etc.  Tom has bought some certificates at a Mexican restaurant where he often eats.

MarsGal, you're so good to those cats, although I think if I had to do that, I'd take care of them too as they cannot take care of themselves as far as food is concerned.

Tom got me a new computer, faster, he says, but I can't tell yet.  I have only Microsoft solitaire on this computer so that is what I play.  I have some varieties on another computer but they never were transferred so I imagine they're too old now.

Hello all you Bait and Tacklers!  Mary Ann, I'm so glad you are home and are hopefully feeling a lot better.  You will probably enjoy the new computer.  Good luck with picking new restaurants when you eat out.  It sounds like you are feeling much better.  I'm happy for you to be at home!

Sue

P.S.  I haven't had a cold beer in a long time--but I think I might try one when I finish this!

Marilyne, hope Shelly and Claire improve rapidly and don't get the COVID-19.  I will add them to my evening prayers.

One of our UK largest retail stores ( John Lewis ) are temporarily closing all 50 of its UK stores due to this C-Virus outbreak...their closures will be the first time in its 155 year history that it will not open its shop doors for its customers...

Our televised MP-spokespeople daily news C-Virus up-dates situation keeps informing us their is plenty of food available, that our shops-superstores will have a good supply regularly coming in but, keep telling us to stop panic buying, filling up with stock, so as to give everybody a chance...

Well today is my 69th BIRTHDAY  that will go amiss if that is the correct word ( go unnoticed ) under this C-virus fiasco of a nightmare to everyone, including myself....I of course will be cooped up inside this home by myself as usual since i lost my Richard...

Denver

Good evening.....it is late so I won't comment on everything, but I do want you all to know that I have read all of the posts and appreciate everyone keeping us informed of what is going on with their families and in their communities.

BEVERLY, we have heard of many folks trying to get back into the US before things are closed down.....and I know you are very concerned about your girls getting back.  I certainly hope and pray they can get home soon and safely.  I appreciate your comments about Jonah....I wish I knew how to post pictures.  I know the little picture is very hard to make out.

JEAN, I continue to pray for Jason.  It makes sense that they are not allowing visitors.  I do hope he is improving. 🙏

MARILYNE, how frightening for you to get the message from your daughter about she and granddaughter feeling ill and heading off to the hospital.  I am sorry they did not get tested.....that is the problem pretty much everywhere now....no test kits available.  Here they tell you to not go to the hospital or your doctor, but to stay home and wait it out unless you can not breathe then call 911.  I do hope you will have better news from them tomorrow.

Jackie, it seems the same story no matter where you are living right now....things are bad and sadly the6 are going to get much worse before we start seeing much improvement, I am sad to say.  Just take care of yourself the best you can and I hope you find someone that w8ll deliver your needed items.

Our family all continues to be safely sheltered at home.  We Face Timed with two of the families today and it sure was nice to be in touch!

Sadly, we lost one of our big and beautiful Pine Trees today between our neighbors home and ours.  It uprooted itself due to shallow roots and the heavy snow on the limbs.  We had nearly 10" of rain and snow and the limbs were really heavy ladened. We are going to really miss this tree😩😢

I am headed off to bed.....sleep well💕

... i love seeing trees and always sad when i see anyone cutting down a tree...I am only happy, at peace, when i have a tree, trees in my back garden, bird feeders and birds...or out and about amongst them, this is nature as it should be..

Jenny, seems you in Denver Colorado are being told the same message, not to go to your local GP surgery nor a hospital...of course this is to safe-guard other people but what about us if we need medical attention....

Just to let you know I'm here and awake.  Beyond that, I don't know.  I  don't know what I'm going to do about my  bed situation unless it is to wait until my leg clears up.  The leg looks fine, hurts like nothing else, but it is my right leg and I can't get up on my bed first with it.  To get up on my bed, I must "dive" onto it, then maneuver myself under the covers.  I am a light sleeper and this doesn't help at all.  I also am not sure if the leg trouble is connected to my heart attack recovery.  We can't win them all!!!

The sun is shining and I hope it  will be a nice day,  Tom will go to  Holland to be with Mary this afternoon and evening. I am OK with that. I can get in touch with him by phone, e-mail and I have a "necklace" that I now wear so he's not far away.

It has been in the mid-thirties the past two weeks with wind and snow the previous four days. We are to continue all next week with the wind and snow, seven inches so far, which is a lot for us but typical March weather.

Farrah has gotten very affectionate  even to walking across my lap if I'm in her way.

This building is in total lockdown, as are all state-owned buildings. All offices except security closed, and we have an always busy number to call if needing maintenance or management issues. Yesterday, the Salvation Army, went throughout the five floors with food boxes for those subscribed.

They would knock on doors calling out for the tenant to knockback, but not open the doors. Then they would call out that the box left by the door. No boxes would be left if they didn't get a return knock for theirs. Meals on Wheels use the same procedure. I worry about those who are bedridden and hope they have CNAs on the weekend for food boxes, cleaning, or other help.

This building is only for independent living disabled seniors past sixty and is locked except for various medical, police or fire personnel and deliveries and mail left at the security office. The only exception is those seven apartments on the first floor for mentally disabled adults who live independently.

Now there is no 24/7 available on-site maintenance, office,  nor paperwork assistance, only phone numbers. We are told for next month's rent to leave rent in the office door slot.

After that first Anchorage case, we went from a new one a day to two and now to five, with 24 cases this morning. The Interior has the latest incidents with the last two nontravel related. As of Friday, five cases in this city but none in my building.

I am glad that I had medicine for my sinus infection and ear infection, so that protection may have helped when I was out and about. My desktop computer is in limbo with HP investigating, so they tell me; what happened. However, I wonder how or if it will be returned via FEDX.

I wonder about next month's rent and groceries; taxis and buses running? Or banks open for those not driving? At least there are laundries and trash drops on each floor.

Good morning all you Bait and Tacklers.  I hope every one is feeling well and seems to be retaining health.  Prayers for all of you who are presently home bound.  Take care and keep us posted.

FlaJean

A lovely 70°F day here in Northwest Florida.  We had our breakfast, cleaned the kitchen and since then I've been watching some news.

The hospital is sending our grandson home for fear he will get covid-19.  He is still being fed intravenously so an RN from a health Org. will come to the house and help his wife.  Our son and his wife are supposed to come home today.  They were able to get a direct flight.  There are things they need to take care of at home.  Our son is running out of his medicine.  They both have medical problems.  I'll feel a relief once I know they are home safe.  My other grandson in Maryland says the National Guard are everywhere in the DC area.  He has never seen any thing like it.

Mary Ann, you sound good.  You have such a good attitude and that is a big plus in helping you to recover.

Jackie, hoping you get the delivery tomorrow and it includes what you need.

This is a hard time for all of us but especially for people with health problems.  We are keeping our distance from everyone and being as careful as possible.

Marilyne, I trust your family is better.

Callie, I've been watching "The Royal House of Windsor".  Thanks for the suggestion of "Five floors Up".  I'll check it out.

Patricia, how are you doing?  Still improving I hope.  I just noticed that you were posting as I was.

Have a good day everyone.

FlaJean - Everyfriend...
...i will leave my empty organic delivery box out tonight for tomorrows 9.am'sh home delivery..he is a newi'sh driver who comes to my home two or three hours later than the previous home delivery drivers...These drivers always leave their full box outside the front door, then takes the empty box but, i am usually up and about to go greet them and thank them although they sent an email now telling us to not speak to them and they will stand so far away from us at the door to be on the safe side...My Riverfords organics have nothing available to order for the future and as soon as there is, everyone orders, then its back to square one, nothing available...they are trying hard to full-fill it for there regulars..of which i am one..Strangely i am the only person on this parkhome site that have them, he does quite a journey to our parkhome just to deliver to me...
...Sadly this is life as we have never experienced it before...and even our food chains are rationing the numbers of items so everyone can get a chance..I hope you are all managing to get a good supply of foodstuff in...i have secured a small home delivery in a couple of weeks time for a couple of packets of pasta and some crispbreads from a well known health food shop....

I should imagine they are sending your grandson home earlier because they will be needing his bed...but it will feel good being back in his own home..It is also reassuring that he will receive a home visit from an RN....

Vanilla-Jackie

Well i have had better Birthdays...think this will be one i will never forget..

These certainly are strange times and I've never seen or heard of anything similar in all my  years.  I know there was a flu epidemic in 1918 and my dad's younger sister died in 1920 of flu, but not in the 1918 epidemic.  I've read about the Spanish flu in 1950 and I do not remember it.  I was working at the time but I do not recall our company being closed.  I suppose my illness prevents me from coming in contact with a lot of people and I guess that is good.  Tom does go out but usually is not out long and he does watch where he is and with whom he is with.

Tom said he'd leave about 1:40 and will return about 3:15 and that seems a short time to go to Holland and back.

I've been happy to see a ship or two on the St Clair River today and activity should increase on March 25 when the Soo Locks open.  It doesn't take much to amuse me!

Jackie, I don't know whether to wish you a belated Happy Birthday or not - I am sure it has been one of the strangest.  Regardless, if nothing unusual or bad happened, you had a nice day.

...thank you, no you are not late, it is today...but it just seems like any other day...nothing good - nothing bad...although some days have been a lot worse..

CallieOK

:hb3: , Jackie!

I'm reading "The Forest", which is a novel about the history of The New Forest in southern England.  I did a google map search for the area....and discovered Dorset is "right next door".  It was fun to think, "I know someone who lives there!

Jean "Royal House of Windsor" is on My List and I definitely plan to watch it.
This morning's paper said the new season of "One Day At A Time" is moving from Netflix to "popup tv".  Never heard of that one.
I've enjoyed watching Rita Moreno as the feisty grandmother of a Cuban family but am not going to subscribe to another streaming service just to watch one show!

Had a long phone chat with a local friend this morning.  She had called in a pick-up grocery order to Walmart last Monday - and it couldn't be filled and picked up until Thursday after 2:00 p.m.  She was told they were overwhelmed and didn't have enough workers to take care of the load.

Had to spread the morning paper pages on a rack because the end of the bag wasn't tucked in.  They're now dry so I'm off to imitate the butler on "Downton Abbey" and iron out the wrinkles before settling in to read.  I think I'll move from the recliner to the bedroom window so I'll have a different view.

Jackie - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
The older you get, the less you feel like celebrating.  When mine rolls around, I'm always in shock that I'm still here!  :D

Thank you both Callie and Marilyne...Marilyne you put a smile on my face...just count your blessings that you are still here, wherever else would you be  ;) ....yes Callie unfortunately i am still living here but not through choice....Dorset...

Jackie, I realize that and hope you're able to "get back home" before too much longer.

Marilyne,  the thing that shocks me is commenting on something I did or some trip I took as if it just happened... and then realizing it was 25 years ago!
