Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

GOOD EVENING!

So hopeful to see a post from you, MARY ANN.  I do hope you are doing better and will pop in and let us hear how you are doing💕

We enjoyed another beautiful day, but it will be ending soon as we will be in the low 30's by the weekend with snow in the forecast.  Mind you, we have been in the 70's the last few days here in the Mile High City.....fickle weather🤣🤣

Our day started out with watching a man come and take out the stump of the tree that recently fell with our last heavy snowstorm. Bob hand dug out several big clumps of unwanted broad leaf grass in our lawn.  What a job!

Talked to Diane, my Dads lady friend as today is her Birthday.  Tomorrow is my Dads 96th Birthday.  We were suppose to be in Arizona with him right now and I am sad that we are not😩😢

BEVERLY, good to read your family is doing well and back to work after their adventure.  Thank you for your kind words regarding our son, hopeful the next door that opens for our him will have a better job waiting for him!  It is still a bit shocking that one of our kiddos has been hit with the fall out of this virus.  There are so many that have fallen in to this situation right now.  I am sorry to read of Jennifer's Mother passing.  Sad time to have to deal with a fur real service.  The Moo; was beautiful last night and again tonight.

JACKIE, I do hope the man came to hook up your new TV and you are now able to enjoy it.

MARILYNE, it seems the grocery deliveries are hard to come by and many are not getting most of their needed items😢 You slipped in before I got this posted....thank you for your kind words.  Yes the Family did enjoy the Rancho Córdova Área, but I doubt that they will stay there, but these days one never knows.  I would love for them to come to Colorado, but there are not that many golfing jobs here due to weather, but he has good contacts here in his fields, so maybe? 💕💕

I am off to bed....pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyone ...

Here I am sheltering in place...
At this time I am spending my time
doing all the things that
I had put off doing.. like cleaning
and re arranging my "stuff"...
I have gone through all of my
clothes and am eliminating 75 % of
them and keeping only stuff that
I really wear and care
about.  (Few...  what a relief!)

I haven't be able to find any
more plastic gloves..   But I found
four pair of Playtex Living Gloves..

Wow,  what  a find.  They fit really
well and are big enough to be
able to easily slip into and wash
the out side when I get hoome .. and
hang to dry in my bath room tub.

What a find!!!   They are so
much better then those plastic ones
that are hard for me to put on and
take off with out touching the out
side of them.

The living gloves are easy to wash
off before I remove them.    Oh
happy day!

I am going to slip down stairs and put
in two washing machines and then bring
the clothes back up stairs here to
dry in my shower and on my wooden
dryer.

Once I get my apartment in order
I will be able to write down what
to do with my computer and bank
account ... like,  what to cancel and
if per chance I should (you know) pass
on...  there are a lot of things
that need to be handled on this computer,
so hopefully I can instruct  the kids on
just how to do it...

Well I am off to get things
done ..   I hope everyone has
a better day and all are feeling
well.

Hi Mary Ann...  I miss seeing you
posting.

Sandy

Good morning Every Bait and Tackler with a special HELLO to Mary Ann.  I hope you're all feeling well this morning.  It's a bright sunshiny day here in Auburn, Alabama.  I plan to get outside shortly for a nice walk.  I am planning to cover my nose and mouth with a bandanna and to stay away from any other walkers I might see.  The other walkers in this neighborhood are mostly young folks who work daily, so I'm not expecting to see anyone else today.

I hope Every Bait and Tackler has a nice day!

In one hours time at 8.pm UK, we will be clapping outside our front doors again for all our UK front-line workers...

At last my new tv was set-up and running lunchtime by the tv installation man who came the other day..

FlaJean

It is bright and sunny here also, Sue.

Jackie, wonderful idea about the clapping.  Good that you have been able to get outside for a short walk.

The neighbor gave us a big pkg. of TP so we drove over and gave it to Gigi as we didn't need it.  We both wore our masks and kept our distance.😊

I have some muffins in the oven to go with some canned beef stew which I got when they were telling everyone to buy some non-perishables.  So we will eat it whether we like it or not.  Hope the muffins make everything taste better.

Sandy, you sound energetic.  Energy is something I could use.

I haven't been to the grocery store in weeks and I used my last fresh carrots a few days ago.  We are going to bite the bullet and try for the store tomorrow.

Marilyne, how is everything in your area these days.

Marsgal, I did see a couple of ships yesterday (I think it was yesterday), but nothing today.  We need Mary Ann to keep us abreast of the shipping.  Sure do miss her posts.

Jenny, my late sister lived in Colorado Springs for many years. I found it interesting how different cooking was regarding times.  So long to bake a potato, etc.  of course, it is on a higher elevation than Denver.  Colorado is a beautiful state.

Hope everyone has a good day.

... i didn't get out this morning for a walk as i waited on phone calls from the tv installer...Just back indoors from our standing at the front door clapping at 8.pm every Thursday...I can only open the front door and stand at the entrance as there are high concrete steps outside of it with metal hand rail at the side but i would need the help of my rollator to reach the rail once i step out from the doorway..

Jean, do you have an organic food box home delivery like we have here in UK who will home deliver a box of fresh fruit and vegetables and meat if required, plus cheeses, milk and eggs as and when ordered, on a once a week basis...I have been a regular customer of Riverford Organics, and at my previous address a regular customer of Abel and Cole Organics, but they dont deliver to me at this address..

We went for a ride this afternoon and it seemed so good to get out of the house for awhile. The sun was shining and the main street below our neighborhood has put up handmade signs thanking medical staff, first responders, essential workers etc.. One corner had a "Medical Staff" sign so I'm guessing either a doctor or nurse lives there. People are out riding around in their golf carts which I think we'll do tomorrow.  The streets all have golf cart lanes here. Any people we saw were doing very well with social distancing.

Jenny - Happy 96th Birthday to your Dad! Can you do Facetime with him? I feel blessed that so far none of my family has become sick. All three daughters have contact with other people in the work they do and my son's wife is a nurse. I'm sure you have the same worries with Dave.

Sandy - Wearing the Playtex gloves is a good idea. I wish you could package some of that energy and send it my way.

Sue - I hope you enjoyed your walk. Most walkers will cross the street if they see another walker.

Door bell just rang.....Easter Lilies from our granddaughter, Erin, in Vermont!

Jackie - Glad you can watch TV again.......

Jean - Everything is better with muffins.  ;) We had leftover pea soup and cornbread.

Marilyne - Yes, all the girls made it safely through quarantine.  Brynn is a manager at one of  The Gap stores and her store has closed down for an indefinite time. She's really worried about making her house payments, etc. I haven't heard the status of her husband's job recently. So many people in the same situation.  :(

I'm sure we'll hear from Tom Tock if there's any change in Mary Ann's condition and I hope she can see our messages.  We miss you Mary Ann!

I believe that my "nervous energy"
is  in reaction to to covid-19
virus that is finding its way
around the world.

I am just worried that my kids
will be in a mess if any thing
should happen to me.   That is
why I am trying to get
things straightened around
here so that they will have
an easier time straighten up
after me!

My Texas daughter and husband called to say that they are getting in the car and heading over to see the Texas Bluebells growing. Sounds great. They have had lots of rain and so I bet they are beautyful.

Jackie, Our local supermarket carries a nice selection of fruits and vegetables (some are organic) and several weeks ago a farmer's market has started for a few hours on Fridays and Saturdays.  I'm going to check it out tomorrow or Saturday.  In some areas they do have organic farms that deliver produce on a regular basis but not in our area.

RAMMEL

On the news today I saw milk being poured down the drain by farmers and a strawberry crop being disposed of --- all because people are not getting to their stores to buy stuff. If we're not careful there may not be food for us next year when & if this virus is gone.
Later my son got to a Super Market and they had no 1% milk and only 1/2 gallon size of whole milk.

...similar story here in UK, been on our news about 2,000 of our garden nursery closures where millions of garden plants set to be ruined and binned this year due to the C- Virus..
quoting: " The Horticultural Trades Association is asking the government for financial assistance of up to £250m to help the industry avoid collapse." It warned that up to a third of producers could go bust...This C-Virus is going to have a lasting knock on damaging affect well after it has gone...Link to story..

Rick  -  It's sad to see the large amount of fresh food that's going to waste everywhere.  It's the same here in California, where most of it is grown.   I'm afraid that with the trucking industry being hit hard by CV, that the fruits and veggies are not getting sent across the country.  It's peak season for lots of veggies here, like asparagus, avocados, broccoli and all the many varieties of lettuce. I don't know if they're available in markets here or not, since I haven't been to one in over three weeks.  We ordered some for pick-up, but  we didn't get any.

Sandy  -  Like you, I love my Playtex yellow gloves!  Comfortable, easy to get on and off, and easy to wash with soap and water, while you're still wearing them!  If you feel the need to use Clorox wipes on the gloves, you can do that also, while wearing them.  The only problem . . . when you go somewhere in public, and you have those bright yellow hands! LoL

Beverly  -  Good that you and Chape got out for a ride today.  That sounds like a great idea, and we might do the same tomorrow. I'm sure the highways and country roads are free of the usual traffic.  I thought that sheltering at home for so long, would have me going stir-crazy, but I've been okay with it. The days don't seem to be dragging at all . . . in fact they seem to be flying by faster than before!

Jenny  -  I hope your Dad, has a nice birthday, in spite of the circumstances.  A Happy Birthday to Diane also!   I'm sure they are sheltering at home, so I hope that someone is providing them with groceries?

It's only 9:40, but I'm sitting here yawning.  I don't know why, because I  didn't do anything to tire myself out. In fact it rained (drizzled) all day, so I didn't even get out to walk around the back yard.  It's early for me, but I'm going to get ready for bed, and hope to have a good night's sleep.

Hello to Jean, Jackie, JeanneP, Joy and Sue.

Mary Ann  -  I know you're wishing you could join us here, and we would love to see you back with us.  Until then, we're all thinking about you, and hoping to see you soon!

Marilyne..
...time now in UK is 6.am, i have already been up two or three hours..

...Just this minute gave my right foot an epsom salts bathe in a bowl as i am still very worried over the redness, burning, tightness and now swelling from my ankle upwards, i know this is something serious ( my blood is not flowing as it should be, a blockage ) and is still ongoing after the home medic of weeks ago placed me on a weeks course of anti-biotics-penicillin.....

Vanilla-Jackie

#17475
Well not putting this off any longer, learnt my lesson last time...I phoned our NHS 111 service who asked me several question before passing me over to Primary Care who told me to phone my GP surgery, got straight through, told a GP doctor will phone me within half an hour, just got off the phone and she is sending a home visiting medic to check my leg out...my bad ( previously diagnosed Cellulitis ) has flared up, only this time with raised lumps and bumps, i just know there is a blockage stopping the blood flowing through..
I asked about our safety, re, C- Virus, told he-she will be wearing a mask..

Edited: visiting GP Doctor just left, i am to be back on another course of antibiotic-penicillin, again, plus another large pump dispenser of Dermol 500 to moist the skin so it doesn't dry out letting fresh infection in through cracked skin, oh and a course of anti-depressants after i told him tomorrow marks Richards one year death anniversary where i found him dead sitting in his armchair.....He doesn't think my mole is a mole although i cant remember what it was he called it, not ruling in cancer, nor ruled it out..He took some photos of my red and sore leg and my swollen foot...He gave me some time explaining and stayed checking my leg over for quite some time so he did appear to me as medically knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about...If after taking my new course of penicillin my leg doesn't improve i have to get straight back to him or other GP at the surgery..i never asked what that next stage would be..

Joy

Good morning.  A pretty sunny morning, but very windy.

Jackie, sorry to see that you are having problems again with your leg.  Sounds like you got excellent care from the doctor that came to see you.  Hope it doesn't take too long to clear up.

A friend sent me a link to a beautiful video by a father and daughter.  I tried to copy the link here, but it didn't want to work.  So, if you have a couple minutes, go to GOOGLE  and type in MATT AND SAVANNA SHAW .  They are singing the song "The Prayer" and it is just so beautiful.  I will help you to feel very hopeful, right at this time.  It isn't long and is worthwhile  the few minutes.

I have a nurse coming in a little while, so I need to get myself dressed.

Sure wish we would hear something about Mary Ann.   If you are looking in, Mary Ann, just want you to know we are all thinking of you and hope you are feeling better.

Have a safe day.

Jackie  -  So sorry that you've had another flare-up with your cellulitis.  It's especially hard for you, during this worrisome time of the Coronavirus.  Also, tomorrow will mark one year since Richard's passing, which will be a difficult day for you.  I hope that the antibiotic will help you, as it did before.   I'll be thinking about you today and tomorrow, and hoping that you're feeling better.

Good Morning Everyone...
I got up at 7 this morning and went
into my spare room and took apart my
black iron futon bed and got it ready to
let my daughter take it to the dump.

Well, it took me hours of unscrewing
it and taping it together so that I
will be able to move it down stairs
and out the door to her car.

If I have to wait until later,
I will stack all my "dump stuff"
up in a corner in that room, with a
big sign on it it
"Dump IT" ".

Just one more step accomplished
to getting this place in order
for what ever!!!

I am glad that other people are using
the platex gloves (mine are purple!)
as they are so much easier and fit so
much better then the other plastic
ones.  IMHO !!

I really don't care what they
look like.    :crazy2:
:smitten:

Here is a picture that is like
what I tackled to take apart and
get ready to dump:

....thank you both... yes tomorrow is a milestone i will have to get through...As for the Antibiotic-Penicillin, that should get home ( handed to me at my front door ) delivered as and when the chemist driver delivers to our parkhome site, i have no clues as to when this will be..

Good morning, Every Bait and Tackler! I hope everyone is feeling well, especially Mary Ann.  It is a bright sunshiny day here in Auburn, Alabama.  I am dressed for my usual morning walk, but I need to rig up a face mask to wear in case I see someone else walking who has not covered his/her face.  We have corona virus here in Auburn.  So far I have not been exposed to anyone who has it.  I am taking short walks and if I see someone else walking I just nod and say hello and keep on my way.

I hope every Bait and Tackler is doing well and staying away from those who might be infected.

Have a nice day, Every One.

Hello everyone!  We had a very nice rain last night but today is beautiful and sunny and warm.

We went grocery shopping early before having breakfast——wearing our masks and gloves. 😊.  The cashier, a young man, was wearing a mask.  I would say about half the customers were wearing a covering or mask both young and old.

I got some nice looking fresh vegetables and a large roast which I will cut in half.

Jackie, I'm glad you had someone come out and look at your leg.  I know it is hard to be by yourself at this time.

We had breakfast late after shopping and the furnace people were here for the spring checkup.  I've just been reading some of the news, most of it bad.

I've got a few chores I need to do so I better get going.

...time now as i type is 5.30am, and this time last year my Richard was still here in his bedroom, in another few hours time i would have found him dead in his armchair after coming home from his half hour drive taking our then cocker spaniel to the pet groomer, with the intention of driving back in an hour or two to go collect him, only my Richard never made that trip...

...today is also the date and fell on this same day an Easter Saturday when I lost my dog number one eleven years ago 11th April,...this date is also the same date five years ago i was diagnosed with my Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis...11th April...now the same date a year ago when i found my Richard dead..

Hello to everyone this bright warm sunny day.

Jackie, April 11th is certainly a bad luck day for you.  Praying you get thru this day knowing your friends across the ocean are thinking of you.

I do the cooking except for one item.  My husband always makes the Mac&Cheese.  I've used the same recipe but it doesn't taste as good as when he makes it.😊. So he is cooking that and I am really looking forward to some comfort food for our dinner.

Joy, it is good that your family can come in to bring you food or items that you need.  Hope you are feeling well.

Sandy, we downsized when we moved just a little over four years ago.  Before we moved we got rid of a lot of stuff, but we still have a few boxes in the garage that we have never unpacked, mostly genealogical info and books which our oldest daughter wants.

I know so much is going on in the world but it seems like to us (stuck at home) that the world is very still and silent, and then we read the news.

Hope all of you are doing well.  We miss you Mary Ann!
