Mary Ann...

What a great picture, Mary Ann. I am so glad to see you looking good and have lots of help now. What a tremendous mood booster first thing this morning.

The ships on the Great Lakes are moving again, I see. I finally found USCG Hollyhock; I had lost track of her three or four days ago. She is moored the whole way over at Oswago, NY on Lake Ontario.

SCFSue

Good morning, All you Bait and Tacklers.  I'm glad to see that Mary Ann is feeling up to posting.  Thoughts and prayers continue for you and hope you and/or Tom will keep us posted.

Not much going on here this morning.  Take care Every One and have a nice and peaceful day!

Great photo Mry Ann you may be feeling not your usual self but you looking so good. Just keep it up. Good you have some female help along with Tom living there. Every one is now glad to have heard.

Mary Ann, we are missing you so much.  It was good to see your picture.  Hope you keep improving and getting stronger.

Marsgal, beautiful bird but I sure wouldn't like to get too close.  Those are some sharp talons.  I've seen a couple of ships go by in the Algonac web cam the last week.

We didn't have any of that bad weather here—-just some rain.  Today is a beautiful sunny day.  Just washed and cut my hair so I'm enjoying resting a bit.  It doesn't take much activity to tire this old body.

We were so happy that our grandson got home from the hospital for Easter.  We are just praying and hoping the treatments start shrinking those tumors.  His doctor told him these new drugs he is taking are seeing some good results.  Time will tell.

Jackie, I hope you see some improvements with the antibiotics you are getting.

Well, hope everyone has a good day.  It was good to see you Mary Ann.

💐 💐 💐   H A L L E L U J A H   💐 💐 💐

How nice to see you in a picture and hear how you are doing.  I am very happy to read that Jan has moved in to help you while you get stronger! MARY ANN❣️❣️  Continued thoughts and prayers for your strength to return and you can once again join us on a daily basis🥰

JACKIE, I certainly hope your meds were delivered today so you can get them in you and start to feel better.  I enjoyed looking at the pictures of Charles and Camilla.  Hard to believe they are celebrating 15 years together.  They do look extremely happy together.  Any news lately from the lady that is interested in purchasing your home?  I do hope she is still planning on going through on the purchase.  Right now, no one seems to be doing much as far as buying and selling with the corona virus going on😩. I keep up on the homes for sale in the Sun City Arizona area by my Dad and they still seem to be selling, but I do not know if they were purchases that were in the works before this all started or not.

JEAN, happy to read your grandson did get to be home for Easter with his family. I do hope and pray he continues to improve and will not have to go back to the hospital again.  So very happy to read that the doctor is seeing good resulting the drugs he is on now🙏

MARSGAL, that is a wonderful picture of the Peregrine Falcon.  We have many Falcons around this area and we so enjoy watching them.  We used to have a whole family of the: right here in our big pine trees several years in a row but they are no longer here as we do not see them as much.  One year there was one that would sit on our back fence and in the lower branches of the tree and just stretch his wings out and give us a rea" show.  They are beabirds.  Thank you for sharing this one.

MARILYNE, we did a long FaceTime with Dave and Family on Easter.  Michele is doing quite well and she specifically mentioned that the children are doing wonderful on their home schooling.  All three are very  good students and they do their work on their own and need very little help at all.  She said they have been very good and seem to be getting along together with all the at home time than they normally do on a regular basis.  She said she is very proud of them.  The oldest son and the daughter have bee; very interested in cooking so they have enjoyed some fun time together doing that.  Michele had her PET Scan yesterday, and will go for her chemo treatment tomorrow.  I guess I misunderstood that she had the MRI last week......Dave said they are waiting on the OK from insurance before she can have it done.  We have not seen them in over a month,
(😢😩😢) and I guess I just misunderstood what she has been doing.  We feel badly that we have not been able to help them out, but wit( all the extra activities and not going to school they have not really needed our assistance.  Thank you for asking about her.

SANDY.   I, too, love the picture of her in the  darling coat of many colors.  🥰

They are trimming the trees on the road down below us and they sure are noisey🤣🤣🤣 it is nice to see them taking care of them.  It is so important.

CALLIE, that cold weather that we are sending down your way broke a record last night here.....  Thankfully the sun has been out today and it has warmed up some but we are to be cold again tonight.  Keep warm😘

Enjoy the rest of your day!

JACKIE, I am sorry to read about the possible buyer backing out of buying your place.  🤬. I know it will not be happening soon that you find a new buyer....I am sorry to say.  Thankful you have started the meds and I hope they are starting to help you feel better.

Another storm is heading in here for the next couple of days....so there goes my beloved sunshine 🌞

Jenny - I just saw your message, with the GOOD NEWS about Michele's Pet Scan!  I'm so happy for her, and for Dave and the kids as well.  Prayers and positive thoughts will continue on into the future! 🙏🏻

Jackie - Home buying and selling has stopped here as well. Sales will pick up when the Shelter in Place, is lifted, and life slowly resumes its normal pace.  I hope  your antibiotics are working, and that you're feeling better.

Joy

Jenny, so happy to hear that Michelle had a good report from the PET scan.  That was good news to get especially during this awful time,

Jenny - Marilyne...

...our UK lock-down is to be extended till beginning of May..

...no posts from FlaJean yesterday..hope all is ok..

...yesterday was nothing but loud drilling outside my front door, the alcove was rotten and the parkhome painter is sorting it, today, any minute now he will turn up 8.am, will no doubt be another day of very loud drilling...There is also a long drop outside my door where he has taken away part of the concrete stepping to be replaced by decking he told me...just when is my nightmare going to end...

MarsGal

Oh, what good news, Jenny. Hooray for Michele!
George will be heading back up state today, and he has extended his stay by a day. He did that last time, but forgot to tell me. One of his friends up there called to tell him one of the eaves at the house is hanging off, so there is another repair he needs to get done. He just had the place reroofed last summer/fall.

It has turned colder again and looks like it is going to bounce around a bit over the next over the next week with temps getting not much higher than 60oF. Yesterday, it was sunny so I spend a little time out doing a bit of weeding and bush trimming. The grass, of course, is ready to mow again. That will have to wait until Sunday when it will, supposedly, be a little warmer and sunny again for a day.

FlaJean

Another pleasant day.  We have had for several days a pretty Rose-breasted Grosbeak visiting the bird feeder.  He is apparently on his way to his summer destination in the north.

Jenny, a good report for Michele!  That is such good news.

I wish I had good news about my grandson.  He is back in the hospital and is going thru another operation this morning.  He has been thru so much pain and agony.  We can only hope and pray for the best.

Jackie, I hope the antibiotics are helping and you are feeling better.

Joy, are things getting back to normal for you?  I hope so.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  Think of you all.

Vanilla-Jackie

FlaJean ( Jean ) sending comforting thoughts whilst your grandson goes through another operation..

FlaJean

Thanks, Jackie, we are grateful for all the comforting thoughts and prayers.

Beverly

Jenny - A ray of sunshine for Michele and your family!
I'm so happy she got a good report on her PET scan.

Jackie - I know how loud noise and drilling can wear on your nerves. I hope they're finished soon.

Jean - Sunny Florida hasn't lived up to its name the past couple of days here. Yesterday was dark, drizzly and dreary. This morning I woke up to rain. The sun finally came out late this afternoon. I'm so sorry about the latest development for your grandson.  :(

Hi to Marilyne, MarsGal and Joy. I've been doing a lot with Ancestry.com and not spending much time here. That can get time consuming and also I'm irritating the tendinitis in my right arm!

Beverly

Did Seniors and Friends have a "glitch" in the past few days? After Mary Ann's picture was posted I left a message. I just went through all the messages and mine isn't there! If you should look in Mary Ann, I am thinking of you and hope you are having some more good days! Thank you Tom for posting the picture and giving us an update.

Marilyne

Jean - sorry to hear the unpleasant news about Jason.  You had mentioned that he came home from the hospital for Easter, and that he was taking a new medication that looked very hopeful.  So I'm hoping that maybe the drug hasn't started working yet, and that after a few more days it will begin to work, and he'll be feeling better. Prayers continuing for him, and for his wife and children.

Jenny - I left you a message last night, but will repeat how happy I am that Michele's PetScan was good!   There are so many new types of medications and treatments now for cancer patients, and I'm hoping that both Michele and Jason, will benefit from the very latest methods!

Beverly - Good to see you checking in!  The weather has been dreary and cool here too.   Again  It kind of goes with the sheltering in place! 😷  I feel that when Spring finally arrives, that it will be a turning point for the coronavirus epidemic, and that the new cases will be fewer and lighter, until finally they will go away altogether.   I suppose that's considered to be wishful thinking, but I'll keep hoping for the best.

I tried to cut my hair yesterday, but it just isn't working well for me!  I have a hard time trying to make the scissors work correctly, while looking into the mirror!  That, plus my arthritic fingers, trying to get a good strong grip on the scissors is difficult.  I can do my bangs okay, but that's about it. Trying to do the back is impossible!

Does anyone else remember the Shag haircut, that was popular in the 1970's?  It included bangs,  long in the back, about earlobe length on the sides. The two people I remember best who had that cut, were Florence Henderson in "The Brady Bunch", and Jane Fonda, in the movie "Klute".  I wore my hair the way for a couple of years, and wish I could give myself a cut like that now.

I wrote a post in the Soda Shoppe and managed to loose it also, just like I did yesterday!  I can not believe I am so dumb to not keep saving it as I go, but every so often I throw caution to the wind and wham bam....GONE.  WE all have done it one time or another and it sure does make you ILL when you do.  Never easy to go back and try to remember what all you said!
Cold and snowy here in my world ❄️❄️❄️❄️  They say we are going to warm up now and I sure hope they are right🌞🌞

I thank you ALL for your kind words of support regarding the good news from Michele's PET Scan......appreciate your support so much!   I want to think this is going to be a turning point for Michele in her fight against the darn C.... and maybe it will be!  With God's help and all of the strong prayers we can not expect anything but a full recovery🙏🙏🙏🙏
Granddaughter Kate is dancing in a virtual contest today, and I lost my post as I attempted to change screens to see her first dance.....These are past dance competitions being redone and graded again....seems a bit crazy, but it gives the dancers something to watch and the grandma's too.

JEAN, I am so sad to read that Jason had to return to the hospital for more surgery.  My heart aches for all of you as we feel so sad to not be able to do something to ease this pain for them.  Continued thoughts and prayers for him and the family🙏

BEVERLY, not aware of any glitches in here....other than my own😘

We just learned on of our favorite Denver Bronco player, Von Miller, has the virus.  🙏

JACKIE, noises like you are dealing with can really go on your nerves....Ijust hope they get the work done quickly and do not leave you with unsafe conditions Incase yo7need to get out of the house!  Hang in there....🥰

MARILYNE, I feel for you attempting to do a little hair trimming on yourself.  I have done the same thing and it is not easy.  For years I cut hubby and sons hair....and did OK, not great, but doing your own is not an easy task.  I know a few of our friends in her do...my fingers/ hands also hurt and it is so hard to hold on to the scissors and get the hair lines up with the other....and of course that is ONLY on the front..Bob attempted to help me, growling all the way😩🤣🤣🤣🤣 So we gave up!  No matter how bad it is, even I have to admit it is bettter than it was as I was looking pretty shaggy....and NOT the shaggy like the SHAG you were speaking of😩🤣🤣

Have a good rest of your day,

Jenny

Hair....

I bet the beauty shops will be booked solid when the next open. All seem to be trying to trim own hair. I am and not doing good job. Now just trimming the back to keep it off my neck.  It seems to grow overnight now. I am not washing it daily.  Just brushing and leaving it alone. Got 3 great wigs . Human hair if I have to show myself   Out fancy. Can't see that happening soon

JeanneP

Joy

I am in the same boat as most of you.  I used to cut my own hair, but not even going to try now,  Can't get my arm up far enough to reach the back,  I did talk to the girl who comes to our place to do hair, and she is about to climb the walls.  She does work in a shop and she comes to our place and the rehab place where I was, plus she cleans houses and does other odd jobs. She is really hurting, but hanging in there.  I forgot to ask her if she applied for unemployment, as I heard even people who have their own business can get it,  My grandson told me they got their stimulus check the other day,  They got a little over $3,000 as they have 2 little children.  He has his own business, so that amount came in handy.  He did file for unemployment and did get a letter stating that it will take a little bit longer for him to get that.  It is so hard for young ones to be able to have much savings when they have children.

My other grandson has to pay child support, so his stimulus check goes for child support.  But, I think he is still working.

Jean, I am so sorry to read about your grandson.  Hope this new surgery will help him improve.  So difficult for you knowing you can't be closer to him.

I am slowly getting back to somewhat normal.  I am being very cautious when I walk.  I have a lot I want to do, but will have to wait until I can get some help come in.  I do plan on getting a cleaning lady once a month or maybe every 2 weeks.  There are several who come to our place who are very reasonable.  I mainly want someone to do the kitchen and bathroom.  Right my freezer needs cleaning out but need to wait for my DIL to help with that. I have a hard time standing up for any length of time.
I have been doing my exercises and try to get 2 or 3 walks up and down the hallways.

Glad everyone seems to be doing ok with all this mess going on.  I just hope when some things open up, it doesn't  start the virus attacks over again.  I heard that this could go on for a long time yet.  Most people will be afraid to go anywhere for a long time.

Take care and stay safe.

Just came in to see how everyone is doing.....

Pretty quiet....

JOY, nice to read your post.  Happy to read that you are beginning to feel it bit more like yourself.  You are certainly doing things to help get your strength up.  It definitely takes time to recover and you just have to listen to your body and not over due.

We had quite the Snow storm yesterday with another low over night breaking the record for the low the second time this week.  Now we are to move into better temperatures.

Tomorrow the cadets at the Air Force will be graduating early, and the Thunderbirds are going to do a fly over the front range of Colorado on their way to the flyover for the graduation.  The plan has them flying nearly over our home so we are sure looking to seeing that.

I hope everyone had a good day.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning all you Bait and Tacklers.  It's a bright sunshiny day here in Alabama.  I'm planning on a walk outside soon.  I hope everyone is feeling well, especially Mary Ann.

Not much else going on here in Auburn today.  Most people who are not working are staying inside, so I haven't seen many neighbors recently.  Yesterday when I was out walking I saw a young girl from across the street walking her family's dog.  She was the only other person I saw.

I hope every Bait and Tackler is feeling well this morning.  Have a nice day, Every One.
Sue

MarsGal

Morning all! What a very chilly, damp morning it has been.

My car is telling me I have low tire pressure. It does this every fall/winter when it gets this cold. I don't see any problem, so have been driving the car to feed George's cats. Monday I will stop up at the local garage (hope they are open) and have Jason top off the tires again. Then I will take the tax payment up to the township building at put it in the mail bin for such things.

This morning I placed a Prime Pantry order with Amazon. They did not have much to choose from so it was hard to make the minimum amount for free shipping. I also ordered a few items not in Prime Pantry. None of this stuff will be delivered until the end of the month and the beginning of next month.

The governor just issued more, stricter (and law enforceable) guidelines. Now everyone must wear masks in stores etc. Store employees and companies have more instructions about how to protect their employees which include the masks, sneeze barriers, staggered breaks, and washing hands at least once an hour. He is encouraging customers to order online for pickup or delivery rather than go in store. I may try the grocery delivery or pickup, but it depends on if I can meet the minimum or not. Probably not. I will just have to start a list and see what I come up with.

I was a little disappointed to see that I missed Happy River on her first voyage up the St. Clair River this season. There are a number of vessels on the river this year that I do not remember seeing before.

Somebody asked if I have seen the Ravens again. Yes, I saw the three of them from my window the other morning. This morning on the way back from George's I thought I saw one just down the street. Couldn't spend time staring at it while driving in traffic, though.

Take care everyone.

One of my grandson got that check last week and another person who is self employed and still working doing same as he works outdoors.
I still don't understand about it. They making same money. Just like we on S S. I can see people signing for unemployment as it will be slow. I am a little slow when figuring out what gov. Does. I think the snap card now doubled .

We had a little rain last night, but today it is nice.  I've just been sitting and reading a little news.

Marsgal, I checked a couple of the ship webcams on YouTube but not much going on so far.  I haven't checked Duluth yet.

A small beef roast is in the crockpot and giving off some good smells and making me hungry.  It won't be ready for a while so I might have to eat a snack. 😊

I like to listen to music when I go to bed but my old boom box finally gave out so I ordered an iPod from Apple that should come in a few days.  It's small so I can put it by me on the night stand and just play it softly.  Larry's hearing isn't good so it doesn't bother him at all.  My hearing is good but ear bobs just seem to irritate my ears.  I'll set up a playlist so I only hear relaxing music and it will take the place of my cassettes.

Patricia, how is everything going in your neck of the woods.  I don't remember seeing a post from you for a couple of days, but then my memory is not so good.

Thinking of all of you.  Sue, have a nice walk.  Thanks to all for mentioning my grandson.  The news about him is not so good.  Marilyne, I am hoping everything is going ok in your area.

Beverly

Kind of a strange day here weather-wise. This morning it turned dark and dreary and then we had rain. This afternoon the sun has come out and it's very humid. Temp is 86 now.

I put in another grocery order yesterday and it was delivered today. I got everything I asked for! Much better than the last one. Wish I could ask for the same shopper every time. Not to sound sexist, but women do a better job of shopping.  :)

Jenny - They also got more snow in VT/NH. The old Farmer's Almanac calls April snow "poor man's fertilizer".

Joy - It's good to see a nice long post from you. A sign that you are feeling better!

Haircuts! I'm way overdue for a perm and a haircut. Can't imagine how I'll look when this is over. ::)  I've never been able to cut my own hair. Thin straight hair is not as forgiving as thick wavy hair. The one good thing is I'm not going out in public.

MarsGal - Our store doesn't have a minimum on delivery, but they do have a delivery fee (ours was free for the first one) and they use InstaCart which charges a handling fee. Plus a tip for the shopper. It ends up costing quite a bit but it saves us from being exposed to other shoppers.

Marilyne - I remember the Shag haircut but it didn't work well with fine, thin hair. I also couldn't have the "big hair" look in the 60s. Hair spray companies must have done well.  :) You haven't mentioned AJ for awhile. How is he holding up during this isolation?

Sue - Our neighborhood is quiet also. We do see walkers once in awile and people in golf carts. Today there was a woman driving a golf cart while her dog was walking along on a leash.

Jeanne - The young families are having it hard right now.

Jean - I'm sorry that things are not looking good for Jason now. Your beef roast sounds good. I made a New England boiled dinner last night (Chape's favorite) and tonight it will be leftovers. For those who don't know what a boiled dinner is, it's cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onions in a pot. We used to use ham but lately I add smoked sausage instead.

Marilyne

Jean - I've been thinking about ordering an iPod, for the same reason you ordered one.  Many long years ago, I had a Sony Walkman, that I listened to at night.  I've always been a poor sleeper, and listening to music is good for relaxation, and taking my mind away from the troubles of the day.   I have a hard time letting go of worrisome thoughts when I go to bed.  I used to listen to local talk radio shows back then, but now, I would only be interested in music.  I did use the ear-buds with the Walkman, because the sound bothered AJ. So I'll take a look at Amazon also, and see what's available.

Speaking of AJ, he is going to make dinner tonight!  :o  A rare occurrence!  He is not much of a cook, but for some reason he likes making Macaroni and Cheese.  So I'll sit back and watch the news on TV, and the kitchen will belong to him! It will be nice for a change.

Beverly - I just saw your message.  I did have the Shag haircut, even though my hair is also thin, fine and limp.  I can't remember exactly how it worked for me, but I think I  got a body perm first, and then had the cut?  I'd like to get a perm now, but I don't have the patience for one.

I heard that the beaches in Florida, were opening up again this weekend?  It will be interesting to see how that works - will probably show pictures on the news tonight.  Beaches are still closed here in California, but the weather is still cool, windy and cloudy, so it wouldn't be good for a day at the beach.

I'm still hoping to see a message here from Mary Ann?  I know she is thinking about us, even though she may be unable to post.
