Duplicated: After my booked 5 minute MS Clinicians phone call yesterday i have decided i am not going to take the risk of the Ocrelizumab intravenous infusion...too many serious life threatening risks ( breast cancer being just one of them ) and side effects, plus it is not a cure nor will it undo damage it already has done to my progressive form, my nervous system...all it does is halts its progression...plus it should be given 6 monthly transfusions during your first 4 years from PP- MS diagnoses, i am into my 6th year but, Clinician said it could still go ahead...Told me it doesn't go well with the corona virus vaccine, told him i am going for my 3rd vaccine this week...

Beverly -  So good to see you message last night, that Chape is doing much better and is no longer on the ventilator.  I hope the dialysis will help him, and the he will be be improving every day!   So glad your family have been there with you!   Prayers continuing for his recovery.

Jackie -  Looks like you made a wise choice, to not have the infusion at this time.   Right now it's better that you get the Covid booster vaccine out of the way.  You can decide on the infusion for MS, in the future, when Covid settles down.

MaryPage

Beverly, what GOOD news of Chape, and he can, and probably will, tell your children that he just staged the whole thing so they would pop down for a visit.  Lovely to know he is puffing along.

How over the top for you to have a single thought of me in a time of such immense stress re Chape's situation.  You have such a generous heart.  Now don't worry a speck about my "surgery."  It used to be called surgery, but zipping up to the heart by way of a large vein reduces it to just a "procedure" nowadays.  These young doctors are smart as whips and delighted with the new way of mending hearts and tickled to pieces to be able to be a part of it all.  As am I now that I find myself in need of their services.

I had my Booster shot of Moderna on Monday, and will be strictly at home keeping my distance from everyone until November 3.  Debi comes by this afternoon to take Chip to the airport (Baltimore-Washington International, known as BWI) to fly off to a much deserved vacation in Seattle for a week.  Debi & Steve will be looking after me, and also 5 year-old Ava if and when Kathryn goes in hospital to have over-due Baby Sister.

Debi will pick up Chip late on the 2nd and he will take me to D.C. for my Pre-op on the 3rd; then home for a week.  On the 10th the now called "procedure" will take place.  We'll see how things go from there.  If things were other than they are, and I refer to Covid, we'd all be gathering the following weekend for a huge 70th birthday party for daughter Anne, who will attain that distinction on the 5th.

I am ever so thrilled about Chape.  May we all keep on keeping on.  Life is Good!

So glad, Beverly, that Chape is getting better.

I don't know where the time goes because I'm sure not that busy.

Marilyne, Looks like you are finally getting rain.  Maybe too much at one time?

MaryPage, Keeping you in my thoughts and sending good wishes that all goes well with your procedure.

Marsgal, Here's hoping those house problems are soon taken care of.  There's always something popping up to replace or repair.  I noticed this last month my electric range is making funny noises, but so far it seems to be doing OK.  Goodness knows, it's only 5 years old and surely isn't giving out this soon.  Oh, well, hope it lasts a while longer.

Jenny, you sure keep busy with your family.  I think about your son and grandkids and hope with all my heart that they are doing well.  Life can be so difficult at times, but faith keeps us going.

Nice to see you posting, Rammel.  I don't post often.  I'm not a good communicator.

Jackie, I love to hear about your new life in a new place.

We've had a few fall days here and there, but no real change of weather yet.  It will soon change to no weekly grass mowings and the end of the Vinca blooming. It gets colder here in Northwest Florida than it did in Ocala.  Maybe we will plant a few pansies or violas in the pots by the front porch.  They do well in colder weather.

Have a good day everyone.

CallieOK

Good Afternoon from a cold, wet, gloomy Central Oklahoma.  We've had a "spate" of storms as those Fronts have moved across the country. As of today, there have been 29 damage-causing tornadoes across the state just in October. That's more than we often get in April/May, which is known as "tornado season".

Beverly, so glad to read that Chape is doing better - and that the "kids" have been there.  Best wishes for his continued recovery.

Jackie, I enjoy reading about your activities.  Wish the groups to which I belonged hadn't dissolved or begun meeting on Zoom.  NOT the same as being together in the same place.

MaryPage, had to chuckle (and nod my head in agreement) at your scolding the interruptions to your sleep.  Good for you!
You are correct in saying that doctors have new ways of mending hearts.
33 years ago, #2 son had a similar "through the vein" procedure to "zap" extra pathways in his heart that could have caused it to short-circuit. (Condition is called Wolffe-Parkinson-White syndrome - which he no longer has). So much better than the open heart surgery that would have been necessary otherwise.
His doctor at OU Medical Research Center had pioneered using the procedure for this purpose and son was the first patient to have it after the AMA officially approved.

Rammel, I think I read your post elsewhere that the Nor'easter hadn't affected you too badly.  Haven't heard if Miss Ellen had problems. She lives in the Sugar Hill area of Harlem.  Is that anywhere near your area?

Jean, I've never had good luck planting pansies in the Fall - probably because I don't like watering, etc. in the cold weather.  They begin to be available in Garden Centers in February and I always have Good Intentions of planting some then. However..... ::)

Had made a To Do list for these days when weather was to be yucky.  Made sliders and put Halloween cards in the mail today and will do my Scarlett O'Hara act and "think about the others tomorrow".  ;)

Hope it's been a Good Day for all the Bait and Tacklers.

We had lots of rain and a good wind. But nothing like we had a month or so ago.  Some streets and Parkways were closed ahead of time an they did flood as expected. I think the old drain/sewer lines are just not big enough today to carry off all the water. Population growth in the area has eliminated so much of the untouched land that the earth and trees no longer are sufficient to help much.  I have an abundance of pine needles (the long ones- can't remember the name)in my driveway and walk from my neighbors tree. Will have to get a rake back out and do a little clean up.
The "Sugar Hill area of Harlem".  Don't know exactly where that section is, except that Harlem is generally around 125th Street. So many sections in NYC. I am just north of NYC. Between me and Harlem is the Bronx. We are about 10 miles north of mid-town Manhattan. You know that now I'm going to have to look up "Sugar Hill"   :) . A few years back my son often went to lower Manhattan (Greenwich Village) area for all the Jazz establishments there.  With age he has lost his enthusiasm to travel home from there late at night so doesn't go there much any more.
What is/are Miss Ellen's interests in NYC?  I should remember that from past posts but you know what they say about memories :(

Rammel,  sounds as if what hit Oklahoma yesterday is moving toward your area...again!

Ellen's main interest is (surprise surprise!  ;) ) musical theater.  She moved to NYC on her own 5 years ago after earning a degree in that field and absolutely loves living there. One of my favorite stories is that she moved there knowing exactly two people - and four months later, 15 new friends helped her celebrate her birthday. That list has grown by now.
She describes herself as a "dancer who can sing", is not aiming at starring on Broadway  and is happy being a member of the ensemble.  She has had several "gigs' with community theaters in various states that had come to NYC for auditions. Of course, that stopped with the Covid thing and I'm not sure how much auditioning she's doing now.
She has worked as a hostess in a restaurant in the Theater District and is currently working in a women's clothing store. She's also a part-time Nanny and is registered with an Event Staffing company.  (I told her I hoped she wouldn't be jumping out of birthday cakes and she said "Not unless I'm starring in "Singing In The Rain." :))

Obviously, I don't post details about my family (or me) but that's the general gist. Thanks for asking.

Forgot to mention that she's also been an Extra in several episodes of "The Amazing Mrs. Maisel".  In one episode of the upcoming season, she will be seen (briefly) as an Irish Nanny (she's a redhead) wheeling a baby across the park.
Yes, she is busy and loving every adventure she has.

Okay - that's enough about Miss Ellen.

My son just walked by.  He has been to a place called the "Mint Theater" in an area called Theater Row.  I guess it would be called an Off Broadway place. I think he prefers the smaller / off Broadway places and has been to many of them. He says it's on 42nd St. Just looked up their web site - https://minttheater.org/

Take a look at  https://cityneighborhoodsnyc.smugmug.com/Manhattan-Neighborhoods/Sugar-Hill/

Thanks, Rammel.

I've seen that link for Sugar Hill.  None of the pictures look like where she lives.

She's said that auditions are gradually beginning but most theaters are going to use shows they had to cancel last season, which would already be cast.  She and her roomies (also musical theater wanna-bes) keep up with that sort of thing and "get on the list" for ones they're interested in.

I wish she could get into a tour that would come through OKC.

It's turning colder and the wind is getting blustier (Okay, spell-check - I know that's not a real word  ;D ). Glad tomorrow isn't trash pick-up day.  I really don't like having to get up early to put them out in the morning.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Lots of interesting messages here this morning to read and enjoy!

Callie -  I always love hearing about Miss Ellen, and catching up with her NYC life!  I admire her so much for "following her dream"!  She deserves to get chosen as a dancer for one of the Broadway musicals, and I believe it will eventually happen for her!  I've never heard of Sugar Hill either, but I did look it up, and it was described as,  "A safe, comfortable neighborhood filled with tree lined streets", so sounds good.  I'm looking forward to the new season of "Mrs Maisel", so I can see her again - this time as a nanny!

Mary Page -  I'm glad you decided to go ahead with the heart "procedure". Your team of young doctors sound like they're skilled and ready to get to work!  We'll be looking forward to hearing all about it, when you return home.  I hope your overnight hospital stay this time, will be less noisy!  Hospitals are known for their night time activity, which is extremely annoying, but eventually becomes tolerable!

Rick -  Looks like we are all having wild, windy and rainy weather . . . but  no matter how much we get here, we always need MORE!  It will take three or four storms like we had last week, to lift us out of this drought.

Jean and MarsGal -  I see you both posted in the Library, so I'll check in there a little later and see what you've been reading?

Jackie -  You are finally in a place that feels like home!  It took several moves, but look like this one is the right one for you.  No stairs or elevator to contend with, a small yard, and friendly people!  I hope you continue to participate in your church activities.

Beverly -  I hope we hear from you again today, that Chape is continuing to improve, and will be going home soon?

A good Thursday HELLO‼️

I have not been able to type for nearly a week, and it has been very frustrating.  I did something to my good shoulder so have been laying low.  Not sure if I over did it in the pool, but it has really been miserable.  My new shoulder can do more than this one can. It aches so bad at night that I can not sleep😩.

Our youngest son and his doodle dog should be driving into ther new home right about now.  The city by the bay‼️ He lucked out with weather issues so it has been a good drive for him.  Of course Ma and Pa have been on edge, waiting for his calls to tell us where he is.

I am going to try the pool today.....of course I plan to be very careful and take it very easy!  I have not been since last Friday, nor have I been out of the house.  Ugh😩

I apologize for not commenting on your personal posts.  There is plenty I wanted to comment on, believe me.

I just wish you all the best.

Oh my, Jenny - your problems sound similar to those of #2 son. As muscles around double fusion back surgery scar get better - something else starts to hurt.  Doesn't help that he's losing patience and tries to do too much.
Hope you hear from son/doggie soon.

Marilyne,  the biggest challenge for Ellen re: something On Broadway is that she hasn't earned enough points to be eligible for the Guild (Union) and can't afford to "buy in".
Points are earned by being in a production at a SAG connected theater; the longer the production runs, the more points are earned.
SAG members get first chance at auditions. If the cast is completed with them, the non-members lose out on even trying.
She did earn some points while performing in Tulsa productions the year before she moved to NYC and says she earned a few by being "featured" as the Nanny.

Your description of Sugar Hill sounds about like hers. And I'd rather not say any more about her location.

Have only one more thing on the To Do list and then I plan to catch up on some reading. I reported on that over in the Library.

Hope Everyfriend is having an Enjoyable Day.

Huge storm here today.  The back, bayside deck off my bedroom and living room is soaking, sopping wet.  Not a single boat out there on those raging waters.  I do not know yet whether or not this storm has a name, but it beats anything else I've seen in my twenty years here.  Tremendous whitecaps on dark grey thrashing waters.

Marilyne

CC/Cotton Candy -  Welcome back to Norms Bait & Tackle.  I know you have dropped in a few times in the past, so good to see you here again.  I've never been to NYC either!  Always longed to go, but it never happened.  I did visit Chicago, once, and I loved it!    Good luck to your grandson!  I hope he achieves his dream of becoming a director.

Jackie -  Glad you got your Covid booster taken care of, and that it was smooth sailing, except for the wait.  I haven't had mine yet.  My husband AJ, got his at the VA, a couple of weeks ago.  My younger daughter,  and son and wife, all got the Pfizer vaccine.  The rest of us all got Moderna.

Mary Page -  Your approaching storm sounds like it will be a biggie!  I remember that Chip, is gone this weekend so you will be facing it alone.  I hope it doesn't turn out as bad as predicted?  We had our big one last weekend, and it was huge!  Some cities here in the Bay Area, still without power.  Keep us posted as to how you are doing??

More later . . . time to eat some breakfast, (a muffin), and get dressed for the day.

CallieOK

Good Evening,

Cotton Candy, Good luck to your grandson pursuing his dream in NYC. Ellen found a sub-let before she moved there.  That's very popular with the "show biz" people who live in an apartment (usually with roommates). They rent their "space" if they get an out-of-town "gig" and it seems to work well.  I guess there's a web site for that sort of thing. She's probably do the same thing if she ever gets in another out-of-town show.

The closest I've been to NYC was changing planes at the Newark NJ airport - long before Ellen was there. I remember seeing the Manhattan skyline from the air. Now I've "aged out" of traveling and wouldn't dare try a trip to NYC - no matter how successful she might be.

She teases me about "wandering the streets" via Google maps.  I actually found her window in a former apartment building - mainly because it had the fire escape outside of it.

MaryPage, I read your detailed description of the bay in another forum. You certainly are able to "paint a portrait" with your words.  :smitten:  Hope things have settled down now.

Today was "one thing after another" and I'm ready to settle in for some reading before  :sleepy:

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

""wandering the streets" via Google maps. "

Long ago I had a link to a site about NYC. It allowed you to pick a topic that might be of interest to you . Then there were many images about that topic.  I recall a long tour showing only Street Lights,  and one about Alleys, of which NY has many and are very interesting.  Words cannot describe ---.  I think I will try to find out if the site still exists.  I think I lost that site on my 3.1 Computer - that's how long ago it was.

I found some "Walks through NYC" on YouTube.  They are narrated by "ActionKid" and are lengthy but good watching.

Here's a link for one down 5th Avenue from 50th Street through Rockefeller Center and then to Times Square.
It was made on October 26, 2021 so is very recent.
Be sure to turn up the volume so you can hear the narration.  Click CC for closed captioning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGWqbS4Kg7U

There'll be two breaks for "ads" during the video.   Check the side panel for others by the same person.

Off to watch my Sooners take on Texas Tech.

Shirley

Not sure if I've stopped by with the crazy week just past. Daughter was in town for WSU meetings & to see her gr-son play soccer, but also spent part of each day with me. Had a super busy day sorting boxes of "stuff" for what belonged with the Birdview system & what went with Tempurpedic bed. Cas decided he didn't like the up & down part after a short time so took all that off. We think we found it all and found a neighbor's son that was thrilled to get the big dish & all the gear for free, I also threw in the DVD player/recorder & attachments & other "electronics" that I had no interest in & none of the kids wanted. Birdview was remote control & since the kid's grandad knows all about them (kid lives in a small town), they can play all they want, one more thing cleared out!

Anyway, MaryPage, wanted you to know my cardiologist insisted last Wed that I need to get my valve replaced before the first of the year, cannot wait until spring!  I'm not sure if I am willing or the surgeon is willing after we talk about this. He's the one that put my stents in a couple years ago. I have lots of questions before I agree & I really do not like this surgeon but "he has the most experience with putting the valve through the artery than any other here", so my cardio says. My problem is I plan to live a lot longer than the valve is said to last & I do not like the way they do a replacement when that time comes. Appointments & more tests in a few weeks so will debate until then. Do you have to take Plavix after, or did they tell you? I was on that after the stents & had horrible side effects so went back to just aspirin.

Our day just turned out beautiful, wind not too bad & sun very warm, in face, I still have the house open & notice it is cooling down.

Beverly, so happy Chape is doing good, NOW you can think about those babies again!

I have a habit of writing a book so will shut up for now. Hi to all.............

RAMMEL

Callie,  Thanks for that link to the Walking Tour.  I just watched the whole thing.  Sure beats actually walking that distance.  During my working years I've been to a few meetings in that area. But I don't recall much as when on the way to a meeting it seems like it's head down and trudge forward.
One building I went to had an express elevator to the 40th floor. When you exited the elevator there was a fairly large elevator lobby, with a huge window (or glass wall) overlooking the surrounding area.  It gave a fantastic view of the detail of the tops of other buildings. These are views not usually seen or of interest to most people. But I love to see the construction detail with it's gargoyles and sculptures.

Oh, Shirley!  I am so sorry.  I almost feel as though you "caught it" from me, which is a really stupid thing to feel.

"I do not like the way they do a replacement when that time comes."  I wish I knew what you mean when you say this.  No one has so much as whispered a word about replacements.  Mebbe they take it for granted I will not live that long?  Actually, my plan is to live to 100 so I can have another humongous party such as we had for my 90th.  Oh my, that was SUCH a great party!

"Do you have to take Plavix after?"  I do not actually know what Plavix is, but if aspirin is a substitute, I would guess Plavix is a blood thinner?  I take Eliquis.  I am to have my Pre-Op on Wednesday, November 3rd, so I would guess I will get it all laid out to me at that time.

Callie, thank you for those kind words.  And I am going to watch those NYC walks just as soon as I have time.  Feeling quite a bit behind with things at the moment.  I am extremely interested, though.  My "twin First Cousin," as the family called us, was an Episcopalian priest with a church in Manhattan.  I used to go up and spend a weekend with her three or four times a year.  Sometimes she would come down here or we would go elsewhere.  A fun thing we loved to do:  Bea had put together a surprisingly long list of places in Manhattan that served High Teas, and we were working our way through it.  We both just adored that pastime!  She died in 1994, and I have not been in Manhattan since 1998.

Good night; sweet dreams.
