I just caught up on the messages. I too am not eager to leave this world for my next abiding place. There is much of actual living that has changed in my life, but I am still thankful to God to wake up each morning.

Here where I now live we have quite a few in their late nineties, and some 100 +. Many of us need a walker of one sort or another...I use a cart where I can sit if the legs give out..and it makes an excellent dance partner if the right music plays the right song. So I usually look around me and I am so thankful being who and what I am. I think the main reason I want to keep living, is for my kids. I don't want them to be sad.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

 Hi everyone!
Somehow or other,  I have just
naturally slipped into this more easier
"laid back"  life style...

Perhaps it was because my life changed
so dramatically in one day  (being pulled off
the road by a medical emergency) that I
really had no choice but to embrace the
change.    ("viva la difference",  oui? )

Hi everyone on this beautiful Wednesday morning.  We will be in the low 90's this afternoon and no rain in the forecast. In a few minutes I have to leave to go for an appointment at the Pacemaker Clinic to have my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  Pat has another chiropractic appointment at 4 pm.  Scott will be out this afternoon and will be fixing the supper for us, which I am more than ready for a break.

It seemed like I was working in the kitchen all day yesterday.  Of course, that is an not the case but sure seemed like it.  I spent for 10 am until noon at the dentists as he found a cavity under a big filling and had time to fix it while I was there so that is what happened.

I have read all the messages posted since yesterday and am bypassing individual comments for today.

wjoan

Mornin all.  Looks like our week of 80 degree temps is over.  Back up into the 90's we are now.,

Beverly

Where is everyone?  :(

Yesterday I played bocce with my group at 9 a.m., then our granddaughter, Elise, her husband, Bill and two kids, Kae, 9 and Evan 4, arrived. They're vacationing, along with our daughter, Lisa, and SIL in Orlando. They stayed here overnight and mid-morning went back to Orlando for a day at the Aquaticus Water Park. Tomorrow morning Lisa and Jim will be here for the day. Then on Friday they will all be going to Discovery Cove, which is "way too cool"!  ;) They get to swim with the dolphins, etc.

Regarding the price of meds.......G-granddaughter, Kae, is very allergic to nuts and has to have an Epi-pen on hand. She needs two, one for home and one in school. Elise just bought two new ones for the school year..........$1,000. She said she was absolutely shocked at the new price and wonders how some families can manage that.

We're in the mid-90s this afternoon but there has been a nice strong breeze all day. Very welcome as some days a breeze is hard to find.

Larry - Hope all was well at your appointment. At one time Chape had a set-up where he could do the pacemaker test over the phone. He goes into the office for it now.

Joan - September is just around the corner......hope it cools off for you soon.

Hope everyone's absence is because they are busy!

Everyone is right here, Beverly!  (just kidding)

Got my hair cut today, and that's about it.  Found a screamingly funny thing in the Bas Bleu catalog that came in today's mail.  A terribly clever and talented artist has taken a saying of Mark Twain's about cats and turned it into a drawing of a cat.  The artist's name is Kimberly Shrack and I'm dying for Patricia to get a new monitor so she can see it.  Here it is for the rest of you:

http://www.basbleu.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?ACTION=DETAIL&ITEM=UL6312&websource=GOOGLSH&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PLA&coupon_code=BBGOOGLE7&gclid=CJfuu4v92s4CFUEmhgodC5QB_A

There, I hope that got through.

Steve's mother was finally buried (with her husband) in Arlington today.  I could not even think of making the trip, but 4 month old Ava went and was good as gold.  Her daddy had taught her to do raspberries, and so she entertained everyone with those, especially when the whole family was waiting around.  Fortunately for decorum, she slept through the solemn ceremonial bits.

JeanneP

What a week so far. Monday allday messing with a printer. Tuesday they cut off the water main in the area. Was without all day. Thought Wednesday would get electrician out at 9am. My Ceiling  fan in the DR  acting up. 8:30am worst storm of the year. Thunder. Lightning and Boom. All the lights off. Had nothing. Called of the Election until tomorrow.  No Phones as mine need WiFi. Mobile phone.  no time on it and could not charge it up. Notice now if no power I have nothing working.  After 5 hours the power back on. By this time decided to just go and take a nap. Lasted 90 minutes. Feels good now.
Will now try again tomorrow to get things done. First thing. Find a old phone that works of a Jack in the wall. Buy Flashlight.  Keep lots of water around. Technology has taken over. Have desktop. IPad, Tablet, Mobile phone and 3 other phones and could not get out on any of them.
Now know how the people having the floods are feeling. They cant even take a nap

Mary Ann

MaryPage, that is a clever cat "thing".  I'd send it to Annie, but she prefers to be texted and I don't do text.

I'm watching about a tornado that hit Kokomo IN just north of Indy.  I used to drive through Kokomo before Interstates.

We had our family luncheon today at the Score but we could not eat on the sand because of the weather (rainy).  Next week we will gather on Monday as Terry and Jan will be gone on Wednesday.

I've lost this message three times so I'm going to quit while I'm ahead.  I'm going to watch more on the Kokomo tornado.

Glad to see your smiling faces! :)

Our "resident gardener" has been working on my garden area.  Bind weed and crab grass had taken over and I've never in the 35 years I have lived here had that problem.  She blamed it on the hot, hot weather we've had.  Maybe so, but we've had hot weather in other years.  And I am at the point where I cannot work with it now.  She doesn't always put things where I'd like them, but she'd doing the work so I let her do what she wants.  It will look nice in a couple of weeks after rain and/or watering.  Eventually the Association is going to redo areas by the garages so they can remove the sprinklers.  They say the watering by the garages is damaging the siding.  I can't see that it has but maybe other garages are having trouble.  They will put down plastic, then cover that with stones and they won't have to sprinkle.  I have myrtle beside my garage and I'm having the gardener move some of that to beside my building in place of the lily-of-the-valley now there.  The LOTV is beautiful in the spring, but the foliage dies down to brown leaves.  The myrtle stays green all winter!  I originally bought 10 plants for $10 years ago and it has spread beautifully.  It will be a shame to remove it but myrtle does need water.

I'm going to try to post in here tonight before I get too tired to do it!  By the time I get Windell to cardiac rehab, lunch, and the office to check his mail and run other errands, I am basically out of energy for the rest of the day. I've been trying to do easy meals for supper at night.  The 90° heat this summer has really zapped my energy a lot!  Although I get tired of running around during the day, it's still nice to be out where we see other people we know and it boosts both of our spirits!

Sorry you're still having nose problems, Mary Ann.  Not fun!  I'm on three blood pressure meds and take fish oil for a blood thinner.  Can't take aspirin because I'm allergic to NSAIDs - they make blisters in my mouth so I take an occasional Tylenol when my knee hurts.

Windell decided in June that we needed to trade my 9 year old Buick Lucerne that had 92,000 miles and we managed to get a comparable current model, a Lacrosse, with some discounts.  I LOVE the technology on it:  a rear-view camera that shows me what's behind me when I am backing up, a keyless entry, and a Bluetooth capability to which they connected my cell phone so I can answer it by punching a button on the steering wheel to turn it on and off.  Windell is doing OK except for some short term memory loss and he isn't driving any because his glaucoma and macular degeneration have gotten worse since the accident last year.

Larry, I'm sorry Pat isn't feeling well these days.  It's nice that you can help with the cooking to some degree.  Windell doesn't try to do any of that except to occasionally cut up fresh fruit or veggies.  We are going over to Florence tomorrow to see his first cousin who is also 87 and we will take them out to lunch.  He has a recurrence of bladder cancer and a worsening of his multiple myeloma and is getting chemo treatments again. He and Windell are more like brothers than cousins and both are the last siblings in their families.  BTW, we were so happy earlier this summer that our local Coastal Carolina U. won the college world series this year!  That last inning was a nail biter!

Gloria, so glad to see that you are still active!  It's wonderful that you have caring neighbors to take you places.

June, I'm not anxious to go to my next abiding place, either!  ::)  Like Minnie Pearl used to say, "I'm just so happy to be here!"

Joan, I'm so glad you haven't had to deal with any of the fires out west this summer, even though your weather has been very hot.

Mary Page, you are a gem!  And I'm so glad that you are still here also!  Hard to believe that my three grandchildren who live here will all be in college this fall!  Oldest girl and her younger brother will both be at Wofford College in Spartanburg - she is a senior and he is a freshman.  Middle girl will be a sophomore at Suffolk College in Boston.  Her mother was from southern New Hampshire.  Granddaughter in Pensacola has already started her first year of high school this year.

Sandy, bless you!  I'm glad you can live your life at a slower pace these days.  Lots to be said for that!

Jeanne, sorry about the problems with things not working!  That's really frustrating!

Hi, Beverly!  Always good to see you here!

I need to call it a day.  Maybe it won't be long before we begin to get some football weather!

wjoan

Hi Johann.  Fires in WA this Summer were up North of us.

Mary Ann

Thanks, Johann, for the mention of nose bleeds.  I've now had two in a little more than a month and I don't like it at all.  I am on only one blood thinner and cannot take aspirin because of it.  I also can take Tylenol which I do daily for pain relief.  I had no trouble with aspirin and resent the fact the blood thinner gives me so much trouble.  But I'm not the doctor and they do know more than I do.  I think!!!  I sold my car in the Spring to a great-niece who lives in Indianapolis and she is getting along well with it.  It had 51,000 miles on it and is 13 years old.  I find I don't miss driving as Tom takes me wherever I have to go.  On the other hand, I can't decide I want to go to a store for something because I don't have a car!  At my age, I thought it was time to give up driving anyway.

Tom has been out to breakfast and brought mine back and I've finished that.  I am not dressed yet but when I finish S&F I will dress and try to do something constructive, even if it's on the computer.  Some time ago I had trouble with my older computer in that when it got hot, it shut down.  My Quicken is on the computer so recently I got the idea of propping it up to allow some space under the computer (remember, I have laptops) and it seems to be working well.  I now am trying to reconstruct entries for a couple of months.  And that's what I mean about doing something constructive!!!

I think we'll have another warm one.  We did have a storm early this morning but radar shows that has gone east and there is nothing west of us at present.

A good day to everyone.

For those interested in the pier at Grand Haven, the Corps of Engineers is going to take down the catwalk over the next several weeks, starting at the red lighthouse at the end of the pier.  Then they will work on the pier itself and eventually put back the catwalk - or a new one.  I don't know if the new one will let people walk on it or not.  I'm glad I had the experience when I was young because it has been off limits to people for many years.

Joanne.  Welcome back. Seems awhile since seen you posting. Sound like you are having busy days. Like all who have had such a hot summer. Seems we tire out easy. I have gotten in habit of taking a hour nap now in the afternoon. Never thought I would do that. Feels good after taking it. May now keep it up Hot weather or cold.
Can't make my mind up what to do today. Again the Electrician cancelled on me to fix the ceiling fan. After the big storm yesterday and loss of power to half the town. He has had call after call as their A/C blew out.
Mine can wait I told him. Having the water and the Electric back on makes me grateful enough

Gonna be a 90 something today.  Looks as if the next few days will also be in the 90's  A good day to all and HUGS all around,.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It is headed up to 93 for a short time this afternoon but now at noon isn't too bad..  I don't think it reached 90 at all yesterday, which was nice.

Scott did fix us a delicious dinner last night and we enjoyed his visit. He rolled the Windows 10 Updates back on his mother's laptop and it is now working again.  He also turned off the automatic updating of any future updates on our three computers running Windows 10.

I picked up my friend at his retirement home and we went to coffee for an hour.  After I returned him home I stopped at Walmart, which is very nearby, for a prescription and a several items.  I rode the electric cart today.  Not taking the ACE Inhibitor apparently is reducing the amount of blood getting through my heart and it has sapped my energy and think it is affecting my thinking a little bit.  Pat has her third Chiropractic treatment of the week today at 4 pm.  There was no Wisdom group at the church this week as the minister was out of town.

I did get a good report on the check of my pacemaker/defibrillator yesterday and no adjustments were needed.  She said I had between 3 and 3 1/2 years left on my battery before the device will have to be replaced.

I am having a quick bite to eat for lunch and looking forward to my afternoon rest. I am going ahead and posting and later today I will review the postings (I read all of them that were there as about 7 am this morning) and post again if I see anything I feel led to comment on.

My electric is O.K now Today but half of the Town. Urbana is without power.I went over to the big Library and it was all down. No Traffic lights on all the corners now working. Even the Big Court house was down and 4 of the Banks.
Now across the main St. the Big Grocery store has been out one hour but theirs came on.  They were worried that they would have to moved all the meat, Dairy and other stuff out into a big Refrigerated Truck.  They put dry ice into the Ice Cream and Veg parts.
We just do not realize how much we depend on power now.  Years ago in Winter a bad Ice storm put our power out and I was without power for 3 weeks. Longest in last few year has been 3 days. Being alone and a Camper all my life I managed pretty good.  Would not be handle these flooding places. I have lots of heaters and things to cook on that runs on Karo sine.

But I think now I would just lock the door after turning off water and head to a warmer place. Before I was still working. Had to stay in town.

Hello from another raining as usual Interior! Farrah is doing well, and I have read all the posts while installing my new Dell laptop. The only available monitors were too small and too expensive, so I went with a new laptop instead. I will order a monitor online from Amazon later. That is if Prime allows. If it is a company affiliated with Amazon, not allowing Prime, I will purchase locally.

I'm glad to be back and caught up with everyone. MaryPage, the cat was unique, and I bookmarked the company, thank you!

Jeanne, if you shut off the water and left, what about the damage from frozen pipes, etc.?

MaryAnn, I check on the cam when you post so I can watch the catwalk progress as well.

To Larry, Sandy, Joan and Beverly, a big hello! And to all A good night!

MaryPage

Glad you're back with us, Patricia.  You and Farrah.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful clear morning and we are headed to 93 degrees this afternoon.  The only thing on the schedule today is to take Pat for a mammogram at the hospital this morning.  The hospital is now providing a free car parking service at the door of the hospital.  There is also no charge for parking.  The housekeeper will also be here this morning and the yard was taken care of yesterday.  So we will be in good shape.

Yesterday turned out to be an another exhausting day and by the time I finished shopping at Walmart, even riding the cart, I was done in.  Fortunately we had an easy supper with homemade chicken noodle soup from the meat and broth left over from  over from fixing the chicken in the crock pot a couple of days ago.

Jeanne, it is always a relief to see those lights go back on.  that must have been quite a storm.

Patricia, is this your first laptop?  I predict you will like it.  I am glad to see you back with us.

I did come back and read all the postings but was just too tired to try to post again yesterday.

JeanneP

Angel.  I learned years ago when I forgot to do that. it was the time of the Ice Storm and Power shut off.  I left forgetting to blow out the water pipes. Came home after power on and the had all busted.  Had to replace all carpeting but that was about it. Good I was not gone longer . Lots of people do not think that they have to blow out the pipes prior to leaving.

Hi everyone on a warm and soon to be hot Saturday here in South Carolina.  We will be up in the mid-90's again today with no predicted rain.

Yesterday was basically a day of rest for me.  I did take Pat to her appointment yesterday and she got a very good report with no indicated problems.  She suggested we stop and have a good lunch and then I wouldn't need to cook last evening.  Believe me I jumped at that offer.  We stopped at Ruby Tuesday's.  While she is still having pain when moving she obviously is feeling some better although still needs the walker or a cane to get around. I did not end the day exhausted as I had been for several days.

This morning I will take to the church some fabric that Pat has cut out for the pillows the women of the church are making for cancer patients. They had a large group of women show up for this event last year and it was on a Wednesday.  They are expecting a larger group today and they assemble a large number of small pillows in a couple of hours time.  From the church I think I will see if any of the guys have come to coffee and if so join them for awhile.  I will put together a salad to go with some food we have already in the refrigerator and that will be our dinner tonight.  So certainly not a hard day.

I hope everyone will have a fine day.

wjoan

Take care of yourself Larry.

MaryPage

I second that.

Does anyone know why Jenny is not posting in here anymore?  And has anyone been in touch with Kelly?

Mary Ann

MaryPage, I think Jenny has been in AZ visiting her father, then when she returned home, she was busy with grandkids.  As for Kelly, no one has heard from him in months, but Jackie/Vanilla sent him an e-mail last week but as far as I know has  heard nothing.

Rainy day here so far.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

I sent Kelly an email in June but got no response either.

MaryPage

How about Ruth in Calgary?

It isn't that I am not happy with the company I keep in here, it is just that there are voices I miss.  I don't like missing people.

wjoan

I hate it when people just disappear.  :(  Dan has promised me he would  send emails to all in my contact list.
