Good morning to everyone who looks in!  :hello:  Hoping you all had a nice Easter weekend?  Lots of activity around here for a change.  Both daughters and one granddaughter stayed here for a couple of nights.  Son and his wife came for Easter dinner, so it was a busy time.

We haven't heard from some of our regulars in this discussion for a while, so I hope to see more friends checking in today to say hello and to tell us about their weekend?

Mary Page, MarsGal, Joanne, Jackie, Rick, Jenny, and Junee.  I'm sure I likely left someone out of the list?  Just scrolling back to see our most recent posters.
Welcome to anyone else who feels like leaving a message here!

Marilyne...
...well today 11th April is the 4th anniversary when i found my Richard dead so no Easter celebrations for me....

MaryPage

The 11th of April has many good memories as well.  Yesterday marked my granddaughter Jenny's 50th birthday, and her son Sam's 22nd. Jenny is a radio announcer for KCUR in Kansas City, Missouri. Sam is a composer and plays the cello.  The thought of each makes my heart swell up with pride & joy.

Marilyne

Hello to all those I mentioned yesterday, and to those I accidentally left out.  Sandy, is one I forgot to mention or ask about.  It's been a long time since we've heard from her, so I'm sending her a "mental telepathy" message, in hopes she will post here soon.  :coolsmiley:  Another member we haven't heard from in a long time is Beverly.  We'd all love to see some new photos of Keani and the twins.

Mary Page - Happy birthday yesterday, to your granddaughter Jenny and grandson Sam.  They both sounds like  they're living very busy and productive lives!

Jackie - Yesterday, April 11,  was not a happy day for you, and will always bring back sad memories.  We can only move forward, and hope that someday we will meet again.  :(

MaryPage

Debi came yesterday and helped me with some seasonal household chores, such as switching my slacks from winter on the hangers & summer in the boxes to summer on the hangers and winter in the boxes.  Then she helped me resort my linen closet and we headed down to City Dock, which is a 10-minute drive away from me.  It was a beyond merely gorgeous sunny day, and everyone was out basking in its glories.  We enjoyed some sumptuous ice cream cones and rejoiced in the city we love, congratulating one another on our great good fortune in winding up here.

We are in San Francisco Doodle Doggie sitting. The weather has been beautiful.  Breezy but bright blue skies‼️

Heat wave going across the country and horrible flooding in Florida.....my goodness.

April 11th was my late nieces 52nd Birthday.  It is difficult to imagine her at this age as she passed away so long ago.

JACKIE, I remember the day your Richard passed and it seems so much longer ago than 4 years😩😥 You have come a long way since that dreadful day❣️

Pleasant dreams to all.

MarsGal

Good morning, all!

It turned chilly again a few days ago. This morning it is 37o. It has been bouncing around for a while now with record highs and near record highs and then back to bone chilling nights and mornings. Now they are forecasting the next two days going up into the mid-80s again.

Sue and I are planning a trip to the local garden center and lunch at Cracker Barrel very soon.

I've been picking around at stuff again, trying to get rid of more things, and dusting some neglected shelves.

Shan got a new toy the other day - one of those fish toys that flap around. Nice thing. It has an on off switch and a rechargeable battery and cord. He was startled by it, cautiously batted at it while trying not to get too close. Now he gives it a wide berth and backs off when I activate it. What a chicken.

Marilyne

Sandy -  Good to see your post, and glad you  got my mental message!  :coolsmiley:    I still think of you every morning, when I use my "sock thing" that you recommended.  What a great helper that is - especially my left foot!  Now it's finally getting warmer, so I'm going to think about Birkenstock's for the next six months.

MarsGal -  I've seen that fish toy advertised on TV, and wondered about it?  I don't have cats anymore, but was going to order one for my granddaughter's cat. They bring her with them when they come for a visit, so I would get to see her reaction.   Looks pretty wild to me!

It's still cool and cloudy here in Northern California.  We had one day in the low 70's about a week ago . . .  that was our only sign of Spring so far.  Enjoy your lunch at Crackle Barrel with your sister.

Hoping we hear from Callie and Mary Page?   Also wondering if Jenny is still in San Francisco?

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone!

Thanks Marilyn for mentioning
the sock thingy that helps us
put on sock,  easily....

There are all kinds of relatively
inexpensive helpers that we can take
advqntage of.  I also have  a stick
that I can use to pick up "stuff"
off the floor.   It even picks up change,
which is hard to get.

Having a few "Helper items" makes our
life so much easier.

I do know one thing,
for me as I continue to loose
weight,  my center of gravity
has changed and I can reach further
down with out straining my muscles.

I hope that I can loose a lot more,
in the next couple of years. (I am
about 20 pounds lighter now,  but I hope to
shed at least 40 more...)

I am trying to get back to where I
used to be in my 30's and 40's,.

(I can dream,  can't I??)

Hey there, Sweetheart!  So good to hear from you!

Me, I'm losing weight like mad, too;  but without any effort.
Mine is pretty much an end of life item.  I am under doctor's orders to weigh & record every day, and take her the paperwork every month.
I go once a month now.  This morning I was 108 lbs. on the dot.  Haven't been this skinny  since about the 8th grade!

I still live for little stories about my great grandchildren.
The youngest is Cleo, who is 17 months.  I got a wonderful chuckle from her by way of her grandmother, my daughter Debi.  Cleo attends a daycare school.  She was confined to her home with a case of serious congestion this week, and Debi babysat.  Last evening Kathryn, Cleo's mother, had arranged that Cleo's daycare teacher, who moonlights as a babysitter, would relieve Debi.
The very moment this young lady appeared, Cleo looked over to her grandmother and waved her small handful of fingers with a huge smile and the words "Bye-bye! Bye-bye!"

Me, I'm still feeling the delight.  I have never met Cleo, who lives close nearby.  They keep me away from the littles and their myriad catch-me bugs these days.  But these little stories give me a chance to figure out who they are.  Cleo is as sharp as a tack!

Love you, Sandy

Beverly

Yes, I'm still here. Just a quick update. I  have now have had these brutal headaches for four months. After two MRIs and other tests, one diagnosis is infection of the sphenoid sinus. Wasn't even aware we have two sinuses behind the frontal ones. Next week I will see the ENT surgeon in Gainesville to decide the possibility of some type of surgery. I'm unable to watch TV or spend more than a minute on the computer. Michael and Donna have been wonderful through it all. Plus frequent visits from Lauri in Maine and Lisa in NH.

I'll try to sneak in another post soon.

I hope you're all doing well.

Good Morning Everyone from the
getting warmer Rocky Coast of Maine.

MOM  So sorry to hear that you
are loosing weight .    My kids too
keep me isolated from the little ones
who are exposed to so many germs.
Of course I am grateful that my kids
know better that to get me exposed to
every little or big germ around.

But I do miss seeing all of the kids
and their kids.

Beverly,  I sure hope that
your find a cure for those terrible
head aches..  They sound awful

Right now I am struggling with plugged up
ears,  which I hope will stop getting
plugged up soon.    I use Debrox and am
flushing them out my self.  Some days are better
than others,  but I am grateful for the good ones.

Here we are with another weekend to get through ...
Humbug!

I am a weekday person.

Have a good weekend Everybody!

Funny, but for about the billionth time or more, I was thinking that very thing this morning.  It was in anticipation of the weekend looming and the many things I miss dreadfully on weekends now that I do get on weekdays.

And yes, I miss seeing the Littles in person, as well and all.

Tomorrow is Ava's 7th birthday.  Kathryn & John have rented the (famous in these here parts) pirate boat that is a major entertainment feature for little kids in our harbour.
Ava's whole 1st grade class. plus a few other little friends & relatives,  will enjoy a lot of Drama, accompanied by huge squeals, followed by the usual ice cream & cake.  I took a lot of my older great grandchildren on that boat back in their childhoods, but those days are behind me in the mists of time.

Beverly, I am SO sorry you are having to endure those vicious headaches.  Will be urgently hoping a fix is found soonest.

Marilyne

Beverly -  So sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  It sounds very serious and painful.  Just hoping it can be treated with a powerful antibiotic, so you won't have to undergo surgery.  I know it's hard for you sit at the computer now, but try to let us know how you're doing?

Sandy -  Like you,  I dread the weekends!  :P  Remember how we used to look forward to weekends when we were young?  The time to have friends or family over for dinner, or go to party . . .  a day at the beach, or an occasional night out on the town.  Now all those friends are gone. :(  We do attend a family party at son and dil's house during the Summer, and at Christmas, but that's the extent of our social life.

Mary Page - Sorry you'll miss Ava's 7th birthday party on the pirate ship!  No little ones in my family right now, to spread germs around!  My youngest great-grandchild, is Marianna, who is sixteen.  I'm sure my great-grand's will be having children sometime in the future, but I doubt that I will be here to welcome my Great-Great-Grands!

A brand new week has arrived once again.  This one is starting out with a heavy layer of fog.  "The cold white ghost of the sea",  is with us again.  I like that poem by Sara Teasdale, and always think of it when I look out side in the morning, and see that we are shrouded in heavy fog.   Typical of early Spring mornings here, but usually burns off around noon.

Beverly - Hoping you're feeling a little better this morning, and that the doctor will find a successful way to treat your headaches.

Sandy - I'm interested in your plugged up ears, because I have the same problem.  It drives me crazy .. . not painful, but distracting and worrisome.

Mary Page - I'm also having a hard time maintaining my weight.  I always stayed at 118 for years and years, but is now dropping.  My appetite is not what it used to be - especially at night/dinnertime. Just not hungry.

Hope everyone is doing well, and that  we hear from some of you today?

A good Monday morning HELLO to ALL 🦋

I am very unhappy with myself for not posting more😩 I miss you all so much🥰

Our time in the 'city by the bay' was WONDERFUL ‼️ Needless to say I did NOT want to leave but had to get back to help son Dave and get to the orthopedic doctor to find out the results of my cervical MRI.

UNFORTUNATELY, the MRI showed significantly more issues with my spinal stenosis and the doctor's suggestion is a ACDF surgery.
(Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion) I agreed to go forth with the surgery but after reading more about it I am not sure, so will do more research on this. I will have the epidural in my lower back this Friday with hopes that it will work and give me some relief🙏

BEVERLY, I am sad to read that you continue to have the awful headaches 😩 I hope your medical team can give you relief SOON🙏 I can't even imagine how uncomfortable this is for you physically and emotionally 🙏🙏

MARYPAGE, I know your weight loss is beyond your control but I realize it is very concerning for you and your family.🙏

SANDY, congratulations on your continued weight loss.

MARILYN, the weather was so nice when we were in San Fran. Chilly to me, but delightful for my eyes to see.  We took two trips to the beach areas and enjoyed the views so much. I love the water and enjoy how much better I feel at a lower altitude ‼️

I wish you ALL a good day.

I always read the celebrity Birthday list ever morning in my daily newspaper.  Today, April 26, is Carol Burnett's 90th birthday!  :o  Remember back in the 1970's, when we all used the watch The Carol Burnett Show, on TV every week?  So funny - especially the skits with Harvey Corman and Tim Conway.

Many other  stars or celebrities on the list today, but most are too young for me to know who they are?  The only other names I recognize are musician Duane Eddy, 85, and Melania Trump, 53.

Almost noon here, on a day that's supposed to be the hottest day so far in 2023.  It's now 11:50, and is only 72, so I'm wondering how hot it will get before the day I over?   Hope you're all having a reasonable Wednesday?  Drop in and say "Hello"!

Sasha

Hey, there, y'all.

I notice it takes more heat to suit me than it used to; I used to start yard work at 50°. Now I won't stick my nose out before 65°.

NBC will have a 2 hour special honoring Carol Burnett tonight.  7:00 Central Time.

Hello.   I was typing on my tablet and came to computer to revise!

Marilyne, you mentioned your "cooler" temperature.  Central Oklahoma should be around 75º this time of year.  Instead, we've had almost a week of temperatures in the 50's/60's with 40's at night.  Brrrrr!!!!!!   This week is gloomy and raining - but no storms, thank goodness.  Had those last week - with 13 confirmed tornadoes south and east of where I live.  Steady rain is welcome because the entire state is under "severe" drought conditions.
Just wish the days weren't so dark and gloomy.

I've been pleasantly busy and family is all well - except for #2 son.  About 10 days ago, he was mowing around his trailer on some rural property we own and ran over some barbed wire.  One of the barbs and some tiny pieces of gravel popped into his shin.  He had surgery to remove them and is now in a boot and on crutches.  They had planned to the beach in Destin Florida for a week and the doctor says he "probably" will be able to go.  Follow-up appointment is tomorrow.  Fingers crossed that he's able to do so.

May calendar looks rather full with "maintenance" medical appointments.

And that's what's going on in my world./size]

Good day EVERYONE‼️

The storm watch was not nearly as bad as anticipated but we got a lot of great rain with a few snowflakes that disappeared by morning. Another storm is coming in Thursday night that is not expected to last too long nor be nearly as bad as they thought this one was going to be‼️

JACKIE, I have not been able to download the MRI information to my portal yet.  I told Dr. Dave about my appointment but wanted him to SEE the info in writing.  I do not know if you have access to your mediportal or not.  Sadly, many times one can not get the info they want😩😩

I wish I could find someone to talk to that has had my suggested procedure done on my cervical spine.....I am so afraid of getting this surgery done.  Seems every person says "NEVER"have surgery on your back 😩🤪 I am so afraid to have this surgery done😩.

MARYPAGE, I do too wish I could move to a lower altitude....I know how much better I would feel😩

CALLIE, I am sad to read about your son's mishap.  I hope he heals in time to do the Destin trip.

SASHA, I agree and understand how you feel about the temperatures.....I have turned into a whimp‼️

SANDY.....having a big chuckle after reading your post 🤪🤪

MARILYN, 72 degrees sounds just great to me right now....hope it forget too much warmer for you.

Have a good day‼️

Callie -  Thank you for the heads-up on the Carol Burnett special tonight!  I hadn't heard or read anything about it.
now I have it recorded, so will be watching it at a later time.   Hockey play-offs going on tonight. ::)

Rick - You might want to record it too. I'm sure they will be showing lots of clips from the old shows, that we all remember and liked so much.

Two of my favorites - the staircase scene from "Sunset Blvd", and the green velvet drapes, from "Gone With the Wind"!  :2funny:
