My very favorite was one with Carol and Lyle Waggoner (I think) where they were having tea, very English, and had a complete conversation in one-word questions/replies. It was hilarious and I've never seen it either on YouTube or one of the clips of her shows.  If someone can find it, please, PLEASE send me a link.  My other favorite is The Dentist episode, by hubby and I would just laugh till our sides ached with tears running down my face.  Splendid comedy, no nastiness.  And what a cast! I have my DVR running to capture this 90th Birthday Celebration!

Watching it now.  Not as good as I expected. Would have liked fewer and longer clips from the shows.

RAMMEL

Ditto the above.
It will be on again Sunday night at 7:00.

So, it was Roddy McDowell (not Lyle Waggoner).  McDowell looks so much like the actor who portrays Endeavour Morse (the young version).

Good Morning!  :hello:
Looks like Callie and Rick weren't very impressed with the Carol Burnett special last night?  I hope others watched it as well?  I haven't seen it yet, but I have it recorded, and will watch it tonight before the hockey playoffs start.

I saw online that the show was on NBC, between 1967 and 1978. That's a long time ago!    Made me realize that the only age groups that remember watching it would be The Baby Boomers, and us,  the so-called Silent Generation, born in the 1930's.  The GenX, and  Millennials were not yet born or were babies/youngsters  during those years.  So, I doubt that the show last night had a huge audience.  Just what's left of us old timers.  ::)

MaryPage

I loved it. Nothing is perfect.
I especially loved hearing how she got into acting because her university had no Journalism course!  Amazing!

Marilyne

I watched the Carol Burnett 90th Birthday Special, last night, and enjoyed it.  Good to see Carol with her long time friend, Julie Andrews, sitting beside her.  Also many entertainers from what is now the oldest generation, who were guests on Carol's show back in the 60's and 70's . . .  Cher, Bernadette Peters, Lily Tomlin, Steve Martin, Vickie Lawrence, designer Bob Mackie, and many others.

Most of the guests were from the younger generations of entertainers - who hadn't yet been born during the years of Carol's show.    I'm not familiar with most of them?   Lots of short clips from many of my favorite skits.  I would have liked to have  seen more of those, but I guess I'll have to search for reruns of the old shows.

I was up at 5:00 AM to watch and record the Coronation ceremonies.  Of course, it started at 4:00 AM Central Time, so I missed a bit. Stayed with it till 7:15, and turned on the DVR to catch the procession to Buckingham Palace. Beautiful Pomp & Circumstance, and I loved every minute that I did see. Westminster Abbey is so awesome, would love to go and see it in person. Wonder if PBS has a DVD just on the Abbey, with history and lots of pictures?

CallieOK

Forgot to set the recorder for the Coronation. :(  I was up at 4:00 a.m for a different reason  ;) but decided not to stay up and just caught the closing comments on tv.  I did see that our PBS station is going to have a recap at 7:00 (CDT) this evening.

Tome, I think I saw something about Westminster Abbey mentioned on PBS but not sure how to access it.  Maybe their streaming service?

Saw the first hummingbird today.  It didn't stay long so may have been a scout.  I usually see one a bit earlier in April and others show up a few weeks later.  Our weather has been so crazy that birds in general have been slow to appear.  Did hear that a Canada goose has 5 babies down at the complex pond.  Alas - I'm no longer able to walk that far but have known geese and ducks to wander along the street and through the back yards.

I was able to sit on the patio for over an hour last evening when the sun had gone behind the trees.  Summer evenings just before sunset to "dark thirty" are my very favorite time of year.

Marilyne

Jackie, Tome and Callie -  I also have the Coronation recorded, and will watch it tonight after dinner.  I'm looking forward to it, and will report back later.

It lasted several hours on our tv, i tuned in at the right time and watched it to the end...Oh how i felt for King Charles wearing those heavy robes -  cloaks, as they added more and more on him, then the heavy swords he had to hold, his heavy crown on his head..then he had to walk in them all, he looked so weighted down..Camilla looked good in her outfit and hair..it was good seeing her smiling..

The entire coronation is on several YouTube channels if anyone wants to watch and or save the entire show.

I enjoyed watching the festivities from Britain.  How exciting to watch history being made🥰

We had a busy day.  A cousin is moving and we attended the going away party. Then we rushed to get to Granddaughter Kate's dancing competition.......missing it by just a minute😢  We did get to watch two more of her dances plus 20 or so more.  At this time in their season they are all polished and dance just beautifully.  Next weekend is her recital and I always look forward to seeing that‼️❣️‼️

It is a bit cooler here today but we have beautiful blue skies🦋

We taped the Kentucky Derby and have been watching it today‼️ Bob is watching sailing from San Francisco Bay.....we both love sailing.

We have a big basketball game to watch tonight.  Our Denver Nuggets vs the Phoenix Suns. After our Avalanche lost we were sad but glad we had another
local team to cheer on🥰‼️🥰

I hope you all enjoyed a good Sunday🙏

I was able to go to ShopPBS and order a DVD called "The Secrets of Westminster", it may have a bunch of stuff not of interest to me, but hopefully a lot of beautiful photographs.  If not, I think PBS will accept returns.

The pageantry of something like these Coronation festivities seem to dwell in my mind long after the TV presentation is over.  I wonder how it affects the people who were actually there and could see "some" of it in person. (I know TV gives us a better perspective.)  All those military personnel marching so beautifully, and bless their hearts, standing out there in the rain for who knows how long.  Unfortunately, the TV channel I DVR'd from had three blathering "mouths", who wouldn't shut up, and I was limited to seeing some of the outdoor action on a small, upper right hand corner screen, while they blathered, not touching on what we were seeing in the background.  I had scanned the channels before I decided on which one to record, and what a mistake I made.  Enough grousing, I have the important parts from inside the Abbey, which were enlightening and very moving.

Tomereader1

I went to my BritBox channel, and wow, did they ever have beautiful coverage.  They have it divided into sections: Kind of a preview with information; Royal trip from Buckingham to Westminster; the actual Ceremonies and; the processsion back to Buckingham from Westminster. The talking heads were low-key informative, all-Class. Wish I could've done my DVR from this channel, but it's not allowed.  After watching a majority of this coverage, think I'll just delete the parts I had DVR'd from local on-air channels.

Good Morning to everyone who checks out this discussion!  We're having typical May and June weather here.  Overcast and drizzly, with cool, but not cold temps.  We call it Graduation Weather here in Northern Cal,  because it arrives in early May and hangs around until the middle of June.  However, we will get a break coming up this weekend, when temps will be up into the 80's for a couple of days.

Jenny - Good to see that Kate, is still dancing, and still doing competitions.  I wonder if she will follow in the footsteps of Callie's granddaughter . . .  a move to NYC when she's older, to pursue a career in  Broadway musicals as a dancer?
I forgot to record the Kentucky Derby.  I like to watch the commentary, and see all the women spectators,  decked out in beautiful fashionable clothes and hats!

Callie - That reminds me . . . bring us up to date on your two granddaughters?  Is Miss Ellen getting much work this Spring?  How are Doctor Emily's wedding plans coming along?  Everything is probably all set and ready to go, with only a few months to wait before August arrives.  Hard to believe now, but when AJ and I got married, we arranged everything in a little less than one month!  The church, the dress, the reception, the cake, etc.  Looking back, I can see that there was very little stress, angst or waiting involved back then, when it came to weddings?   No such thing as a "Bride-Zilla!  :knuppel2:  ;D

Jackie and Tome - I recorded the Coronation, on every possible channel, and sampled them all later in the day.  The Air Australian channel did a beautiful job of low key commentary.  BBC, was okay, but they did lots of cutting, so it wasn't too satisfactory.  The photography was pretty much the same for all the different channels, and they were all good and enjoyable.

CallieOK

Good Morning,
I'm dressed and ready for friend to pick me up for a meeting.  The program is a speaker from the fairly new American Indian Museum in OKC.  I'm looking forward to that.

Marilyne, thank you for asking about the granddaughters. I think I talk about them too much!

Miss Ellen was just here for a week to be the maid-of-honor for her college roommate.  She spent an afternoon with me and we had a great visit.  All is well in NYC.  Auditions are mostly via video now and that means she has to rent a studio and find someone to film her. The series "...Mrs Maisel" has ended and now the writers' strike has affected filming for new tv series.  So she isn't currently auditioning or performing.
However, she is very busy being "Nanny" to 3-year-old twins from the time they get out of Montessori "school" until parents get home and often on weekends.  Mom is a dancer with the NYC Ballet and will be participating in a series of afternoon matinees for children this summer - as well as being involved in some kind of film centered around ballet.  Ellen said she and the Dad will take the twins and she'll be quite busy when Mom is filming.
Of course, she will be MOH for her sister but will just be here for a few days before the Friday night wedding and may have to be back in NYC to work on that Monday.

Wedding plans for Dr. Emily are coming along nicely (as far as I know).  Groom seems to think his part is over since he has the groomsmen lined up - which is making Emily a bit of a "bridezilla".  I can't believe all the activities - such as the Bachelorette Weekend and food planning!  Back in the day, we simply had a Bridesmaid Luncheon and served cake and punch at the reception.

Time to look for friend to arrive.  TTYL
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Marilyne

Callie -  I really enjoy hearing about your two granddaughters, and also about Sir Carson, as well.  He and his SO will likely be the next to announce an engagement? 🤔  It's wonderful that all three are happy, doing that they like.
I heard that there would be no more "Mrs. Maisel".  Too bad, but the writers got off on storylines that just didn't work for me, in the final two seasons.  I guess they had gone as far as possible with the original idea, and the new shows and new characters, fell kind of flat?

Hoping we hear from our missing Bait & Tackler's soon?
Beverly, was not doing well at all, and was facing possible surgery for her headaches, so I hope everything is better now?   Also Jenny, was still suffering from ongoing health issues. Others we haven't heard from in a long time, are Mary Page, and Sandy?

CallieOK

Good Morning from a cloudy, severe-weather-predicted Central Oklahoma.

Marilyne, Sir Carson and SO are living in Texas and, in addition to her job there, she is working on her degree at an OKC college on-line. I think she is supposed to finish this December and it wouldn't surprise me if a ring is among her Christmas presents.

Speaker at meeting yesterday from the fairly new Indigenous American Museum in OKC was very interesting.  . There are 39 tribes in Oklahoma - many of which were "removed" from their homes in other parts of the country in the early 1800's.  He told about how the museum developers work with the various tribes - each of which has its own traditions and language.
I'd love to see it but mobility issues prevent me even trying. :(

Domestic Duties have been trying to get my attention. Guess I'd better see what they want.  :)

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend

Join the club!  Everything takes me SO much longer to do these days, I cannot possibly get it all done.  I'm still trying, but it does have a way of piling up.
Becky comes for two weeks on May 23rd, and Debi is going to help her do some of the backlog.  They've done this for me before, recently, and they laugh and carry on and make it a FUN thing!

Sandy

Hi MARYpAGE!!

I hope that Becly is still coming to help
you out with your house keeping etc.
Never hurts to have A little help!!!!

I  hope that you are happy and doing ok.

Hugs to you MOM!!

Huge hugs back 'atcha, Sandy!

Yes, we have a Birthday Party at Debi's house on Wednesday.  We are going to play Mexican Train, as it is a small party made up of just 4 of my children and myself and Debi's husband, Steve, who is in the last throes of Parkinson's.  I am to be allowed to eat a whole pint of Spumoni ice cream, which has been shipped in from Homer's in Chicago.  Best stuff you can imagine!  There will be other food and goodies, but that will consume my attention as I consume it.

Chip leaves for a vacation with his sweetheart early Thursday morning, while Becky leaves her visit at Debi's to come to take care of me.  I confess to needing a lot of care these days.

Daughter Elizabeth will spend Saturday with us.  Chip (Delmore) will get home on Monday, June 5th, and Becky goes back to Kansas City on the 7th of June.  Whew! I love them all to pieces, but I'm kind of sort of concentrating on the ice cream.

Love you!

Mom

Sandy

Good afternoon Everyone,
who decides to stop by and visit
Norms Bait and Tackle.

It is very quiet in  here except for MaryPage
and Me.

Mom I am glad that you have enough kids
to be able to share  coming and staying with their
Mom.. So that you can stay home and enjoy
your Spumoni ice cream.

To me,  there is something about ice cream
(or for me,  frozen yogurt ) that just
satisfies urge to eat ... so much
that I have had to stop eating it these
days in order to maintain my recent weight
loss and drive it down further.

You see,  I am the only over weight  person
in my family.    Fortunately the rest of
my crew are med to tall and weigh less than
others their age.

As a young person I was in good shape until
I stopped smoking.  (Long time ago) ..
My weight shot up very quickly and I didn't
stop  that rise in weight until now.  As I will
be later this year turning 80,  it is apparent
that I should have started watching the old weight
gain a long time ago..

But I  am determined now and I am losing
and holding on to the loss slowly...
Very slowly, but I am not going to give up
until I finely become the new "old me" ...

Hi to everyone !

Take care MOM and try to
enjoy the company!

Sandy

Sorry, I've been spending the last few days over on Soda Shoppe. It is not my usual venue, but that seems to be where people are hanging out this week.

I am dealing with a cold (the first in around 20years) that is slow to clear off. Otherwise, there is not much to report.

We have had mostly mild, breezy weather lately, with sunshiny days expected at least through Sunday. Temps are to continue ranging from the 70s to the mid to low 80s all week. Nice weather for yardwork. I hope to get out to finish mowing the backyard today before the front yard starts demanding attention again.

Good morning everyone.  :)  Nice too see so many messages the past couple of days.   I've been busy with out of town family staying here for the past week, so I had to put my computer postings on hold until now.   They left for home this morning, so now everything is back to normal.

Mary Page - I know you're looking forward to tomorrow!  Spending the day celebrating your BIRTHDAY, with your loving family members!   Sounds like a fun day ahead, with plenty of your special Spumoni ice cream to enjoy.  (More about that tomorrow!)

Sandy - Good to see you here this morning.  (I guess that was yesterday?) 🤔  I think we all lose weight and get thinner as we get older, so you likely wont have to stay on a diet for long.

MarsGal -  Sorry you're suffering with an old fashioned cold!  It's been a long time for me too.   I think those face masks prevented the common cold from spreading around, the past couple of years?   Get that lawn mowed today, and then take it easy until you're feeling better.

Rick - Good to see you here as well. The Memorial Weekend is a good time for all of us  to relax and really enjoy our yards.   Too much traffic on all holidays now,  to consider going anywhere.

Hoping to see messages from all of you again soon.  Also from others who usually post here.
