Good morning from a still snowed in Interior. It is still warm with occasional snow but no new accumulation.

The power company and the city garage have been outstanding in keeping the power back on and the roads, including hillsides and ridges clear and passable. It helped that the wind gust kept the snow off the trees and we only lost a few early on with the original outages.

There were only two deaths attributed to the storm. One was a teenage girl walking along a rural road and the other in an intersection shoulder crash. The girl was walking down the center of the road, and a car behind witnessed the first car trying and failing on icy roads to take evasive action.

I will need to shop for groceries and pay some bills either today or tomorrow as I have been putting it off in favor of hanging out at home redoing my apartment and getting rid of as much as possible. It has been an ongoing job.

I was sorry to read of the fire and death, MarsGal. This year has not been going well for some folks. Fires are dangerous here as well during the winter; it is one of the hazards of winter cold.

MaryAnn, I remember Norm talking about delivering boats from sellers to buyers and I always thought that would be a unique occupation. Here, many folks build river and jet boats for long distance racing. However, like dog racing, it has been commercialized and the money needed is driving many out of business. You can always tell when an oil company inserts its name into the title of a historical event that it is changing and pushing out the small folks, especially from the villages.

I am presently living less than a block from the hospital where I was born, altho it is now a bank.

I hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying their days!

Larry, hopefully, having his daughter around will help Scott in many ways as much as he has helped you and Pat. Having family close is always nice.

I now found how to Uninstall from the W7.  Must not have used it since I had XP . could just not figure out where it was.  But anyway. Spent a hours trying to clean off all the things that started appearing on this W7 desktop. What a mess. Had 6 things on I have never heard of. Just appeared and really messed the computer up.

I know I am not going to even install anything that looks O.K . Keep it the way it is.  4 out of the six took so long to go.  All the questions as to why removing had to answer.

I have 2 packages here waiting to be mailed since last Saturday. Storm just will not let up. Temps not bad 43 deg. but it doesn't stop one getting soaked. So will hold until tomorrow. Hope it quits.  seems like down South it is bad also. So much for Winter.

Cleaning out the file drawers on my desk. Thing in there going back years. I have to get better at keeping things in order.  (Say this every January)
Since I last looked at the Temps They have gone down to 31 deg. Be cold for rest of week looks like

Having lima beans with ham .  Kept the bone this year and decided to make them for a change.  Turned out yummmmy

Beverly

Joan - I made split pea soup with the bone from our Christmas ham. I love it with corn bread.

This night owl is getting sleepy so I think I'll give in and go to bed early. I have golf in the morning.

Good night all.

wjoan

Beverly, the corn bread sounds good.  Wish I had thought of that.  :)

Hi everyone.  Today won't be as warm as it was yesterday here when we got to around 70 degrees and saw the sun for the most of the day.  Our high today is predicted to be 62 but a fair day with no rain.

Yesterday evening we met our granddaughter at Pizza Hut for our dinner meal and then she came out to the house for the first time and visited for  a little while.  This was the first time Pat had seen her since Jennifer came here.  Today's schedule should be fairly light.  Pat left me a note on the coffee pot not to fix her breakfast as she wants to go to the hospital lab to have blood drawn for the tests ordered in preparation for her next routine appointment with the GP, which is a week from today.  Then she mentioned stopping somewhere for breakfast. This evening our Wednesday night dinners at church resume and I will be joined there by Scott and   Jennifer and then they will come back out to the house for awhile.

Joan, it sounds you may all may have some new snow fall records for your area or at least it is off to a good start of setting records.  I have never liked lima beans but my dad sure did and we would have them fairly often as I grew up.

Mary Ann, hope you can stay inside and stay warm today as 19 degrees is cold.

Patricia, it sounds like your city is well prepared to deal with the snow.  I remember that about Anchorage as well.  Here in the south it isn't economically feasible to have a lot of snow equipment as we so seldom receive any snow and if we do it doesn't last but a day or two normally.

JeanneP, it sounds like your computer has been keeping you occupied.  It is easy to overload our computer systems with programs.  I find I will load something and then not use it and can't remember what it does.  That is when I usually remove it. I have also started the annual process of cleaning out files and getting set up for 2017 as well as putting together the support I need to do my income taxes.

Beverly, I hope you have a great round of golf today.

wjoan

We are up to 15 degrees at almost 10 a.m.  Was 10 over night and forecast is for a high of 25 today.  You KNOW I am staying inside.  LOL

Sandy

Good Afternoon Everyone,
from the cool, but mostly clear,  rocky coast of Maine. We have quite a bit of rain last night so the surface is mostly clear with just a bit of snow here and there.
No big problem.

So good to hear that June is going to be coming
back to her apartment soon.   And that they have
that "MRSA"  infection under control.

Congratulations June!

For the next couple of weeks it is going to be
on the warmer side of Winter Weather
(3 0's and 40's  days and 20's at night)..
This is so much better then when it gets really cold
here.. (in the teens and below zero)...  that I
am hoping that this will last 'til Spring.

(Hope springs eternal?
1. proverb "it is human nature to always find fresh cause for optimism")

Well..  The "Holidays" are not mostly over
(even as the decorations still go on and on!)
I took down my lights the day before  2017...
But I do miss them.

All is well here...
Have a great day, Everyone!

Sandy

Good morning from a snowed in Interior. Not much happening here as I need to get out and get busy with some errands delayed from last week and Farrah is busy bird watching and not snuggling.

We have been in a drought since 2004 and this extra snow will help although some heavy snows in the mountains could end it. The past few years saw little to no snow and no real need for that snow equipment. This will help with filling those reservoirs and getting the fish back to healthy levels.

Larry, Anchorage is about three times our size and the climate and geographical type is entirely different than us. There isn't much love lost between the two cities and there have been one or two lawsuits along the way.

Mary Ann

I'm not bragging but it is 17 degrees here and that probably is as high as it's gonna get.  Tom, Terry, Dot and I went to the Olive Garden for our usual Wednesday lunch.  We were going to go to the Boulder Creek Country Club restaurant, which is open year round, but Terry got behind an accident on the way and that slowed him down, so we went to the Olive Garden which was on his way to Boulder Creek.  We have had some blowing snow, but not enough snow is on the ground to make a difference.  Tomorrow may be a different story.

Mary Ann

Low for tonight is 2 degrees

Mary Ann

Joan, we are at 16 now and I don't think we'll go much lower.  Tomorrow will not be much different than tonight.  Brrr.

Mary
ann, does that mean we can spend the day in bed????

We had a high of 19 today, at 8:47PM, we're at 14 above and expecting a low of 6 above. Somehow we really made Mother Nature upset as we have another storm due tomorrow! It's a good thing that I finished all my running around today!

Hi everyone from a very pleasant South Carolina.  We will get into the mid-50's this afternoon and then we are headed to a period of much colder weather with a good possibility we will be seeing a little snow on Saturday as well as rain and going down to about 20 degrees at night.

Pat did get her blood tests done.  We then went to Denny's so she could have breakfast and could have lunch.  She ordered an omelet and I decided on pancakes.  However, since Pat didn't want the toast or grits or pancakes, the waitress pointed out she could just include the pancakes with her omelet and save us a couple of dollars by not doing a separate order of pancakes for me and then I ate the pancakes.

Today I will follow my usual Thursday routine and pick up my friend from the care facility and we will go to coffee, I will take him home and go back to the Church for the Wisdom Group.  I have no idea what the rest of the day may bring.

Sandy, I think we must be getting your normal cold weather and you are getting some of our warmer weather in the next few days.

Patricia, sounds like a good thing you got your errands run.  I hope that included treats for Farrah so you will have a happy cat living with you again.  I wasn't aware that Fairbanks and Anchorage didn't get along.  They are far apart but I suppose it relates to money in some way.

Mary Ann, too bad you missed going to the Country Club but Olive Garden was a good substitute as they have good food.  We haven't been to Olive Garden here since we moved.

Joan and others suffering with very cold temperatures, BRRR!

I was up earlier, then went back to bed.  When I woke up the second time, Tom was in the kitchen and he had scrambled some eggs; he left some for me, so I have had breakfast.

In case any one cares, it is 11 degrees here now.  Of course, I am not out in that temperature and it is 72 degrees inside - very comfortable.

I am starting to put things together for tax purposes.  I had most of my bank statements and put them away before Christmas.  And I can't find them!!!  I have a few to print, but I don't want to print all of them again.  I will find them!

I just looked at Grand Haven and the red outer lighthouse is starting to get a coat of ice again.  The lake is very choppy and the air is hazy so you can hardly see the lighthouse on the north pier.

Mary Ann

Our forecast was for minus one last night but when I got up at 7 it was 5 degrees so doubt it got down to minus 1.

Carol

Happy and Healthy New Year wishes for everyone!

Chicken soup is slowly cooking in the crock pot - I wish someone would give me a ham bone for split pea soup.  The ham hocks are amazingly expensive - over $6 for a small size package.

I am taking a break from cutting fabric for a quilt.  It has to be the most challenging pattern ever and the pictures do not match the instructions - "tearing hair out time".  I think the magazine wrote instructions that do not match the pictures and I have to improvise.   :uglystupid2:

Otherwise, the sun is shining and everyone is doing OK.

Remember the good ole days when you could just walk into a butcher shop and they would GIVE you bones????

Been wanting to share the latest about Candy.   Tis a big secret so you cannot tell anyone, ok?  LOL
She left Gardnerville on Tues. afternoon.  She is driving to Ark.  She called last night from Flagstaff, AZ and is headed to N.N.  She says she is 285 miles from her destination.  A gal friend who went to school with her MANY years ago is now living there and invited her to come and check out the area. Frankly she is looking for something, not sure what.  Hope she find it there.  Lady <her dog> is with her and she is doing fine.  Lady is a bit nervous about this trip and is not eating right, and losing hair.  She will quiet down  when they get there. The peopole at the storage place in NV printed her a map and it seems that 95 goes right where she has to go.  Anyway, she is stopping at rest stops at night and they are both getting plenty of sleep.  Will keep you all posted.  :)

angelface555

Larry, Farrah is happy to be reunited with those Friskies seafood treats!  ::)

Joan, I hope Candy finds what she's searching for, it does seem to be a thing when we're young.

I am so sick of this wind and snow! It seems to be all over North America except for Florida!

Candy encountered snow in Flagstaff, AZ  yesterday.

J.M. Smuckers is recalling some types of wet cat food.

[attachimg=1]

Marilyne

Patricia - I saw that cat food story on the news last night, and was relieved to hear that it was  9Lives - a brand that I've never purchased for Winnie.  I don't think they sell it at either Petco or Safeway, but not sure?  I wonder if it was made in China?  I'll be looking for more info tonight when I watch the news.

wjoan

Candy is at a truck stop in Texas for dinner.  She is spending the night and will be on her way in the morning.  She expects to arrive at her friends house tomorrow.

Mary Ann

We haven't bought much wet cat food, but it has been Fancy Feast.  Kendrick really is not too keen on the wet food.

We seem to be north of the snow band in Michigan or on the north edge.  We are getting lake effect snow and most of that is in the Kalamazoo and south area.

Mary Ann

Lindancer

Patrica thanks for post about the cat food, Taffy eats only the ones with a lot of sauce or gravy,She like meow Mix  the best, then gravey lovers Fancy fest. 9 Lives is very popular here.

I am glad you do not have to go out any more, in the weather. We are having snow to night and they said snow to morrow, with bad road,. I Homemakers starts to morrow, and we were going to have a class to learn Mexican Train. If I do not feel anybetter I will not go. It looks like the meeting will be cancelled if the weather is bad. You take care. Ay lest your Kitty will keep you company.

We are at 1 degree at 7 am

larryhanna

Hi everyone on an overcast morning.  We are to get rain later today and it is will in the 40's.  If we get any snow it should be tomorrow but only for a couple of hours.

I have nothing scheduled for today that would require me leaving the house.  Pat is going to put together a vegetable soup for our dinner tonight so I got everything out of the freezer that she would need plus the crock pot. Yesterday went as I had expected it to and we have a quick supper of salad with tuna on it.

Mary Ann, I am also starting to work on my taxes for 2016.  Throughout the year I have maintained a worksheet where I recorded every deductible item.  So I can do a preliminary tax return and then adjust it as the documents come in that I need to finalize it.

Carol, I bet you will figure your quilt out as know you are an experienced quilter.  Do your subscribe to the periodic magazine that the Missouri Star Quilt Company puts out a few times each year?  Pat loves it as there is no advertising and the pages are in brilliant color and on high quality paper. It is a bit expensive but she finds it worth the cost.

Joan, since we didn't live in the city and did our own butchering getting bones was no problem and mother always made soup or beans with the appropriate bones.  We didn't waste anything in terms of food.

Joan, did Candy grow up in Arkansas? It sounds like she and her dog are having a good trip.

Patrica, glad you now have a happy cat.  I didn't know that Smuckers made cat food.

deAngel, sure hope you are feeling better today.  Mexican Train is a fun and really simple game to play and I hope you are feeling up to attending the class.
