There was a bash planned for Atlanta or somewhere in the South that had issues between the planning woman and her daughter. Ms. Shirewin or something similar had issues with a man leading another group. The bash was held but many folks decided not to go. That was the only bash I knew of that had controversy.

Marilyne

I'm thinking about the bash in Las Vegas, since that's the only one I planned to attend - but I must have the "misunderstanding" confused with someone or something else?  I don't remember the name Babs, but I now remember the name of the man in SoCal!  It was Mark, and he was good friends with another member named Happy Bill.  They both seemed like really nice guys, with both having a good sense of humor.  There were also a couple of SoCal women in that group, but I don't remember their names?  They used to get together a lot for lunches and dinners.  I would have loved to attend some of their activities, but I'm about 400 miles North, so way too far.

wjoan

Marilyne,  I vaguely remember Happy Bill, as for Mark I have no comment.  Sorry you did not make the Las Vegas Bash, it was great.  :)  I still have the T Shirt.

Sandy

Mark was a friend of Bobbies.....and Happy Bill's. As well as Claire (Winsom) Or something like that also lived in So Cal....  Babs lived in Phoenix area..

I never did get any meetings except  I met a lot of people on my trip across the country  (who were very, very good to me.)

I remember Mark and Happy Bill had for a time, their own masculine version of a Red Hat Group. They were the Happy Caps or something like that. The argument, if I remember correctly, is that the men thought the women were being too shortsighted and strict about who was to attend. It may have been out west, my memory isn't as reliable anymore.

Joy

Sandy, didn't Mark get one of Bobbie's dogs.  I just talked to Bobbie a couple weeks ago on her birthday.  She sounded good.  She is living with her daughter now in Ohio.  She doesn't get out much and she had to give up her latest dog.  A friend was able to take the dog and as far as I know, she does bring it to visit with Bobbie.  I did forget to ask about whether she still gets to see the dog.  She is alone most of the day.  Her son was living with them, also, but he passed away right before Christmas.

Did you ever get to meet up with her when you were on your travels or when she was on her travels.  We always kept telling her she should have written a book. She is a special lady.

Joy, yes Mark did take one of her dogs.

I'm glad to hear she's doing good.  It's been awhile since I talked with her.  She was headed back home when her car broke down and she spent the winter in Ft Worth with Alice Wyatt. My daughter and I met them and had lunch.

Mary Ann - Good to hear that you're all settled in, and will have a busy three days ahead of you.  Wonderful that so many relatives are coming for the wedding, so you'll have a chance to see lots of familiar faces.  Keep us posted on the rehearsal dinner and the wedding itself.

Larry - I hope that both Pat's and your cardiologist appointments were uneventful, and that you got good reports from the doctor.  I will be seeing my cardiologist the first week in June, and I'm not looking forward to it.  The last time I saw him, he mentioned the strong possibility of a pacemaker, which I was hoping to avoid.

It looks like many of you attended at least one Senior Net bash, and some even made it to two or three!  There were very few members living here in Northern CA, and the few who were here, were spread out around the Bay Area. The two who lived closest to me were Marjorie and Purple Sage.  They were big time cat lovers, and posted a lot in the cat discussion.  After Sage died, Marjorie dropped out of SN, and I don't think she ever joined S&F?  There was one woman in Oakland, who was always talking about organizing a meeting, but nothing ever came of it.  Wish I could remember her name?

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  We have a beautiful morning so far with sunny, cooler temperature and less humidity.  However, the clouds are moving in and our area is under a severe thunderstorm warning until early afternoon.  We were under a tornado watch almost all day yesterday but fortunately only had some heavy rain during the afternoon.

I have nothing planned for today so am just going to stay home as far as I know now.  The man I usually pickup and take to coffee has a dental appointment this morning so I won't be going to coffee and plan on skipping the Wisdom Class also.  Pat even fixed her own breakfast this morning.

Yesterday we were both able to see the Cardiologist at the same time which worked out well.  My test results and echo results were mostly good.  She is having me start taking folic Acid and Thiamine and also suggested getting a monthly B-12 shot to try to increase my energy level.  She also ordered a Oximeter one night test to see if my oxygen levels are falling while I am asleep since this is not uncommon with heart failure.  Jennifer joined me for dinner at the Church and then came out and spent a couple of hours with us.

Mary Ann, glad to see you are safely in Indy.  It is a nice feeling to be recognized, as you were in the restaurant, when we go into some business.  It makes the experience more enjoyable.  The folks from Canada certainly must have had a long day of flying and waiting. That was a long day for you as well.  Nice you also got to have a brief visit with the friends from Tom's church.  A retired Catholic priest and a Presbyterian should make an interesting couple.

Patricia, obviously I need not worry about you drinking too much.  :)  Glad that Dora is getting the cruise she wanted.  You certainly got an early start yesterday and hope you gathering was to your satisfaction. There was only one Bash in Atlanta and as far as I know there were no problems involved in the planning.  It must have been in some other location.

Joan, I hope I at least got to speak with you at the Bash as tried hard to at least shake hands with everyone there.  I am not a quiet person and really enjoy people.

Marilyne, I remember Happy Bill.  Sandy, I also remember Claire and her postings.  Did you ever had the opportunity to meet Adrienne, who lives in San Francisco?  I know she attended many of the Bashes and is a real cat lover.

wjoan

Marilyne, attended the Atlanta Bash, the PA Bash, and of course the Las Vegas Bash. Enjoyed them all.

Larry, I did not meet you personally but we were in a room with the group and you were at the table doing something and were introduced to all of us at one time.  Adrienne and Jane Walker and I used to get together for lunch once in a while when I was still living in Mtn. View, CA.

I met Adrienne when I came through San Francisco.
I stayed a couple of nights with her and she showed me the city.

I also saw three gals in  Coo's Bay, Oregon and spent a couple of
nights with Marilyn and Keith Riley, and visited with Jane Walker and Nita Horner..

I met with and spent a couple of nights with Cherie Freeman (aka dig girl)
in Tuscon, Arizona........

I found lovely gracious people all over the USA.

I never met Bobbie, although we spoke once on the phone..
She was on the road first and had retired off the road, before I
spent my year traveling across the country (2011)..

I am sure that I have missed a few ....  in LA I Met with Marlin ...

I found people all across this country who were most gracious and kind to me.   Including Papa John and his daughter Martha,  and almost met  Norm and Dot....   I was on my way to their home in Florida when I
fell victim to strokes in Austin Texas  and ended up in a hospital in Baton Rough, LA....   Joy from Baton Rough called me in the hospital there.

Unfortunately I was not quit myself then.

That is all in the past, I am good now...  even with a broken arm!

Good Morning from a windy, storming Interior! I do believe summer has skipped our location this year and has decided to simply rain and rain and rain. The resulting barometric pressure and my sinuses are battling it out today.

Farrah has had to suffer through two intrusions in her world so far this week. First was maintenance bringing a technician to check the fire extinguisher and the following day, maintenance returned with another technician checking our apartment's intercom units. With all five floors, the various techs and their maintenance shadows must have been quite bored. The next large project is going through and replacing all lights with a new type of bulb and fluorescent where needed. Farrah has taken to alerting at each new hallway sound and sometimes going to peer under the door. She doesn't care for her routine to be upset.

I went out yesterday to visit old friends and they had a pitcher of margaritas. Larry, I am turning into a lush as I had two!  ;D

I was all dressed up in clothes I hadn't been able to wear previously and thought I looked good. The first thing I was told after being greeted was "you look tired." "Sit down and I'll get you some coffee." I hate my pale skin!  >:(

I did find two large milk crates for under my kitchen sink, a hand vac and a new monitor for my desktop. So, my gathering went well. Other than that, my day is uneventful and I hope others are enjoying happy days as well!

June Drabek

Patricia,I would have fought you for one of those margaritas !

I hope our Mary Ann is having a joyful time with friends, and not too tiring a time.

All is well in Stanton, Ca. We are having some cool overcast days, which I welcome. I do not look forward to summer and the necessary use of air conditioning.  We still need a LOT of rain in So. Ca.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  Our day is getting started off as a beautiful sunny and calm day and we are to get only into the low-80's this afternoon.  As yesterday was I expect today will also be a quiet and restful day.  I haven't checked with Pat yet but we may go out late this afternoon for our main meal for today.  Otherwise, I don't plan to go anywhere today.

Joan, I am sorry that we didn't get to meet at the Atlanta Bash.  I don't remember being introduced but it probably related to my work with the SeniorNet site and I may have put together a website on the event although don't really remember.

Sandy, as you found on your travels that we have great and friendly people on these discussions.  Your trip across the country gave you a unique experience in meeting to many of our folks and being able to spend time with them as they hosted you.

Patricia, it sounds like you have to keep your umbrella handy.  Two margaritas--my my!  :)  That was quite a shopping trip.  What size monitor did you get for your desktop?

June, like you we have enjoyed two or three overcast and cooler days.  It looks like after today the temperatures will again approach or be in the 90's.

Marilyne

Good morning to all! :)  I hope we hear from Mary Ann today.  I think she said the rehearsal dinner would be tonight - Friday?  The wedding is tomorrow.

It looks like it's going to be a chilly Memorial Day weekend here.  We will be going to the cemetery in San Jose, to leave flowers at the gravesite of AJ's parents and brother.  This is a large cemetery, divided into different sections according to ethnicity and religion.  There are also different memorial sites, such as Civil War, World Wars I and II, and as well as Vietnam and Korea.  We always spend time and leave flowers at the 9/11  Memorial, which is divided into three sections - depicting the three airplanes.

We also go to the Civil War ceremony, where re-enactors are there in authentic uniform and dress.  The WWII site is my husband's favorite.  The Army band is always there playing patriotic music, and there are a number of speakers, and a few survivors who speak.  Overall it's a very inspirational day.  I'll try to take some good pictures.

This is the first chance I've had to get on S&F but I have been able to check my e-mail and some sites I visit daily.  We have been busy!  Tuesday night, I know I told this, Tom H and I went to the Legend where the owner recognized me, so we were able to visit a bit.  That night, we went to the airport to pick up the Canadian visitors.  They were the big attraction because they haven't been here as often as I have.  Wednesday afternoon, Tom H's Presbyterian minister came to call.  He manages to visit me whenever I'm here and I appreciate it.  Wednesday night most of the family were at Tom's for pizza and visit.  I am staying with Annie H, sister of the bride, but not one of the quads and she brought me here from Tom's.  Yesterday (Thursday), the Canadians, Tom and I drove to Milroy Indiana in the rain (it has rained a lot since I've been here) so we did not get out of the car except to go to the Takshemoka restaurant (I think i forgot some letters in the restaurant's name) where we had lunch, then drove back.  Last night was the rehearsal dinner and there were a lot of people there.  I managed a hug from each of the Harton family and talked with others, but most of the relatives were from the bride's mother's family and I only know her sister and mother.  One of the male quads put together a funny video of all of the family singing "One More Day" - it was hilarious and I'm sorry I can't share it with you because I don't have a copy of it.  Eventually the sister of the bride brought me here for the night.  Tom H will pick me up mid-afternoon and take me to his house and from there we'll go to the wedding.  After the wedding is the reception and after we eat, someone will see that I get back here for the night - probably a friend of Tom's will pick me up.  Tomorrow morning, great-niece, Erin, will pick me up and we'll head for Grand Rapids.  Being Memorial Day weekend, she probably will stay over until Monday, but Tom Tock will pick me up at Terry and Jan's tomorrow.

I understand Kendrick wanders around our place, wondering where I am, and he's very vocal about it.  He usually is not too vocal when I'm there.  I imagine when I get back, he'll be glued to my side.  I had hoped Annie would visit him while I am gone, but she is in Cancun now for a few days - with her boyfriend.

A couple of women from Jehovah's Witness just knocked on the door and I answered.  They were very nice and I refused their offers and told them I was not the owner of the house but a visitor.  Annie H is a devout Catholic and I wonder what she'd tell them if she had answered the door.  I did tell the ladies I had my own church so did not want their literature to read.  I told them I had a computer!  That interested them so we talked about that for a few minutes before they left.

You probably will not hear from me again until i am home.  I'm not used to all of the activity, but I've managed some naps and I'm getting along fine.  I'll crash when I get home!  I have read everything posted since I last posted but I'm not going to try to respond to anything.

Good morning again from a stormy, soaking wet Interior with some fog added to make things interesting. We need lights inside because of all the rain and fog so it is a pale wintery type of daylight. Last night we had our first summer lightening, thunder and rain squalls intermixed with the steady damp. Farrah showed little concern except that her ears perked up when the tree tips brushed against the bedroom window. Thunder and lightening outside to her are not as thought provoking as increased hallway activity.

Dora reports that Duchess is equally unfazed by summer thunderstorms. However, my neighbors down the hall's two cats, Frankie and Mort have either taken the storms as an intruder or something out to get them. Mort lives two doors down, is a large cat and growls when you knock on "his" door. Frankie, across the hall and down two doors, doesn't care for any loud or unpleasant noises. He is a tuxedo cat and very friendly if he recognizes you.

Dora, who has a two story home, also reports that Duchess has taken to leaping off the stair rails rather than walk down. She won't admit it but Duchess has claimed another adherent. Dora told me that since the cat was snuggled in her lap last night while watching television, she hated to get up to go to the bathroom and disturb her!  ;)

We are having a building cookout on Memorial Day, $3.00 each or sign up for a dish to feed several. so since I need to hunt for items today that I forgot when last I gathered, I will need to give the hospitality committee some cash. The building only sponsors and provides for the main five holidays but the building committee often sponsors their own affairs as well.

There are several town ceremonies and events planned, we have five military bases locally; but this soggy, wet weather will not help attendance. I have also been invited to a few places but this weather is depressing and I may just stay home. The last two summers were wet and there were several forest fires so after a more snowier winter, I was hoping for the sunshine this summer which isn't having a good start!

MaryAnn, it sounds as if your annual Indianapolis trip is very busy and very enjoyable for you! I'm enjoying hearing about it! I'm not surprised that Kendrick misses you. Cats form very strong family bonds with some people. They are not pack animals like dogs so while, within their personalities, they will be friendly with most household humans, they tend to pick that one special human to bond with and it isn't always the one feeding them.

As much as I would rather stay on the couch in my PJs, I need to go and get dressed for another grocery run. Everyone have a wonderful day as you wish!

angelface555

Larry, I almost forgot to tell you my new monitor is an Element brand, led HD 22" monitor. Instead of a hand vac, I ended up with a Black and Decker 3 in 1 lightweight stick vacuum. Since I now own a Bissel sweeper and an indoor/outdoor vacuum, as well, I no longer have an excuse other than procrastination to not keep up with cleaning.

I also purchased three more classes from Udemy on sale, some more photography ones and three motivation or habit ones in their recent sale so along with my graphic classes and my no excuses left cleaning items, I'm hoping to become much more active in a sort of use it or lose it rationale.

Finally catching up in here - it was so nice to read the "old" names of years ago.

We dodged another hail storm and it looks like it is heading east.  Our homeowner's insurance went up another $300 per year.  Drat those hail storms!  Our car insurance will be rising - drat those texting, marijuana, distracted and telephone while driving people!

wJoan:  I so appreciated this Mother's Day being with 3/4 of the family.  You are so right that just being with them is golden.

Late yesterday, two of the grands called and wanted to come over and spend the night - you can bet we sent a big OK to that idea.  Those two usually visit a couple of times yearly - and I got caught up on the new boyfriend news for g-daughter too.

time to relax here after spending a long time on the phone to make two medical appointments.  They want a bone scan but I don't know why since I have not lost an inch in height - will go with the flow and have the scan.  Another little bird has set up house right by the front door.  It is the same spot as last year  and there are four light blue eggs so I will have to ask my birding neighbor if that could be a wren.

Lindancer

Carol, I have a robin nesting on a tree branch right in front of the porch where I set,  the eggs are light blue.

Patricia, taffy just has to hear thunder in the distant  and she goes into hiding, also she does not like the fireworks at the race track about a half mile from us.

We have been in the low 70's  for a few days.  Tomorrow starts the beginning of the 90's.  Dan turned my a/c on for me before he left for the long weekend.  He left this morning and will return sometime on Monday.  Gonna be a quiet few days.  Nite all and hugs all around

Mary Ann

The wedding is over and I'm preparing to go home today.  As the groom is not Catholic, there was no Mass so the service really was no different than any other wedding I've attended.  The bride was beautiful as I knew she would be.  There were family pictures taken after the ceremony and I am in one of the pictures.  I probably was the oldest person there and surprised some people when I told them my age.

After picture taking, we went to the reception which was in a large eating establishment (I don't think it was a restaurant itself, however, this could have been a separate building especially for receptions).  We were served salad, chicken breasts, green beans and potatoes.  The chicken was very good and seasoned so it wasn't necessary to salt it (however, some did).  I could not eat all of the chicken and of course, I couldn't ask for a "doggy bag".  Later, small pieces of chocolate cake were passed around.

After the meal, the bride and groom danced a round, then the bride danced with her father, then her mother and after that others took to the dance floor.  It's been a long time since I was at a wedding where there was dancing and I can see I've lived in the dark ages - dancing is nothing like I remembered!  No partner needed.  It was fun to watch.

Tom H had a friend who would come after me to bring me back here because he knew I would not want to stay until the wee small hours.  The friend came, then stayed a while.  When I am here, this friend and I talk and talk and talk.  So I had to send him away about midnight because I needed to get to sleep to prepare for this morning.

In about 15 minutes, I'm going to get me ready for the day and be sure everything is packed.  Erin should be here about 10 am (it is 8:15 now) and Tom H said he would come here before I leave.  I said my goodbyes to the Canadians, hugged them all.  Tom Tock will pick me up at Terry and Jan's this afternoon.

Re cats - Kendrick doesn't react during storms unless the thunder is very near.  I have looked at him during a storm and he just lies there.  I like storms, so often sit near the slider and that's where Kendrick's bed is.

Next report will be from home.

Hi everyone.  It is another sunny and calm morning but we are headed up to 90 degrees this afternoon.  I slept in later this morning so am getting a slow start to the day.  The only thing on the schedule is we plan to eat out in the late afternoon and then on the way home pick up the online grocery order from Walmart.  Yesterday was just a calm and restful day.

Marilyne, it sounds like you will have a pretty full day on Memorial Day.  You have a very interesting cemetery.

Mary Ann, how nice of the Presbyterian minister to make the special effort to come and visit with you. Was there a special purpose for our trip to Milroy, Indiana?  It sounds like you have been on a Merry-Go-Round since you got to there.  I sounds like it was a beautiful wedding. Hope you have a nice trip home.

Patricia, it is interesting that Farrah isn't afraid of the thunder and lightning considering how she was when you got her.  It sounds like pretty depressing weather you have been having.  Wish I could share some of our sunshine and heat with you but wishing doesn't make it so.  It sounds like Dora is taking to Duchess.  You will enjoy the 22 inch monitor.  I have had a 22 inch monitor for several years and it is perfect as can display pages side by side, which I use when I read and write in these discussions.  I put the readying page on the left and the posting box on the right.  Is the stick vacuum one where you do not have to bend over to use it? I will have to look at the udemy.com website as I am not aware of it.  I don't think I have the energy to make the commitment to do online classes anymore.

Carol, do the laws in Colorado exclude marijuana from job disqualification when drug tests are administered.  If not, I wonder how these people can afford to live in Colorado or the other states where it is legal.  It seems that insurance costs go up every year but a $300 jump is certainly significant.  Nice that your grands wanted to come and spend the night with you.

deAngel, how often does the racetrack have fireworks?  The mother bird is still sitting on her nest here and haven't seen any little heads peeping over the edge of the nest yet.

Joan, it sounds like you got the air conditioner turned on just in time.  We are also headed to the 90's for the next several days and it is already quite warm out as I found when I took a letter to the mailbox.

halkel

Larry, just South of us, Cotulla, Tx, the weather guy said temp of 109 is predicted today.
I am sure he was speaking of heath index not actual temp.

wjoan

Larry, the weather site I use has temps up to a month ahead and I pretty much go by that  when  seasons are changing. :)  So far they have not let me down.

Marilyne

Mary Ann - You'll be arriving back home soon.  I'm looking forward to hearing more about the wedding.  Also, tell us about Kendrick's reaction when you walked in?

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior! I am so far behind, need to do laundry, vacuuming and break out the dryer sheets to dust the hot water heating units with. My every six months apartment inspection is due the final week of June so I want to be prepared.

We are expecting rain and or thundershowers at least thru June ninth. I envy anyone their sunshine!

MaryAnn, it sounds as if you had a great time seeing family and being at the wedding. I bet you will be happy to be back home and I know Kendrick will be so glad you're back as well!

Gloria, Sarah was like your Taffy. She hated loud noises and would go behind the couch until they stopped. Sarita, a black cat who loved to roam if she got out, would station herself by a window and growl during fireworks or other threatening sounds. Then I had others who simply saw those noises as nuisances rather than threatening.

Larry, I have been taking classes, either formal or informal most of my life. It is from my magpie nature and basic curiosity that drives me. People constantly ask why at 65 I took grammar classes and I wasn't even the oldest person in the class but fell more in the middle age group.

Farrah was basically feral after her experiences. We will never know what she suffered before being found on that river bank. There were no roads so someone had to take her there by boat. She would have never survived swimming a wide glacial river either so that someone was especially cruel.

I think she feels safe in her "den" and knows she is protected so she can branch out and try new things. Spending the first six months basically under the bed or keeping a close eye on my whereabouts and my hands and feet shows the extent of her being traumatized. I think in many cases she would have ended up being put down. It is not me, I just left her alone; it is education and training by so many that have shown us what to do for traumatized animals.

I recently watched a series of videos about a feral cat, Mason from British Columbia. Mason comes from a feral cat colony where the members are given health care and neutering before being released back to the colony. When Mason joined the colony, they saw he was ill and brought him in. He had only three good legs, had some abscesses on his body and in his teeth. But the worst was that he was in the final stages of kidney disease. So they fixed him up as well as they could and sent him to a foster home.

Mason was old, ragged and battle scarred. He hissed and attacked as he saw humans as an enemy. Eventually, he accepted humans at a distance and they renamed him, Grandpa Mason. Then they fostered some kittens. To everyone's surprise, this mean, grumpy old cat, adopted the kittens, playing, sleeping with and protecting and nurturing with each new batch. He still doesn't like humans but he is a huge help in socializing feral kittens so they can find homes. Sometimes, the mother cat is there and sometimes the kittens are orphans but Mason cares for them all. It would have been horrible if he had been simply put down as unsalvageable.

Mary Ann, I really admire you for all you do..like this trip to the wedding. I turn "chicken" just thinking about a visit to the dentist..which I really need, but don't want to leave the property.  Fortunately, with the computer, I have all you dear friends to associate with, shopping on line for things I need, and a "family"  type group of residents to associate with. Welcome home girl, it will be good to have you back.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

June, actually, I do very little around here.  Tom does the cooking and sometimes we have a friend of Tom's come in and clean.  If I have an appointment or luncheon date, Tom takes me.  His work is mostly telephone and computer driven, so when he accompanies me to an appointment, he takes his laptop and, of course, his phone which is almost attached to him.  For luncheon dates, he may eat at the same place my friends and I eat, or he will go to a nearby fast food place, always with his phone and computer (most restaurants have WiFi).  As for trips, I have a suitcase nearby that I pack and I have a list of things to take and also the quantity, depending on the length of stay.  I don't go away often enough to make a big deal of it.  Everyone knows I need help in certain things and I get that help.  For instance, I cannot go up or down entrance steps that do not have a railing.  Someone takes my hand to steady me and I go up or down.  I can't reach beyond the second shelf and if I need something, I say "I need a tall person" and help comes.  If I am alone, I must wait until someone comes to help.

I had a very good time in Indps.  The two Toms met in Merrillville Indiana and I switched cars.  All I had to do was get out of one car and into the second car.  And away we'd go.  Merrillville is close to half way and we usually meet at a restaurant for a meal, although this time we did not eat.  In fact, Tom H and I went to supper at the Legend, a restaurant Jim and I used to go to.  That is where the owner recognized me.

The next night many of the family met at Tom's house for pizza.  The real attraction was the family from Sooke BC Canada because they had not been in Indps for several years, maybe since 2006.  On Thursday, we went to Milroy.  Larry, Jim and his sister were born in Milroy which is a small town that if you blink going through town, you miss it.  We always eat at the one restaurant in town and Tom tells that his dad was born in a house that stood where the parking lot was.  Actually, the Hartons and other ancestors were quite prominent in the town, but no one is there now, except in the cemetery.  That night was the rehearsal dinner which was open to family and friends and was well attended.

I didn't do much Friday until early afternoon when Tom H came to get me before going to the wedding.  I waited until just before Tom came to change my clothes.  i didn't wear anything fancy, just what I wear to church on Sundays - black slacks and green top and sweater and I wore a necklace that Jim had given me many years ago.

The bride was beautiful as I knew she would be.  Her two sisters were maids of honor and she had three other friends as bridesmaids.  All of them wore lavender dresses, lacy material, but not all the same style.  The brides two brothers were groomsmen and ushers.  The bride's mother has a lot of relatives and I think that most of the people there were relatives on one side or the other.  The groom is not Catholic so there was no Mass.  After the service the families went to a large open area and pictures by family were taken.  I was included in one of the pictures.  From there we went to the reception.

The reception was loud because of so many people.  First we ate, then the bride danced with the groom, then with her father, then with her mother, the groom danced with his sister and after that the guests could dance.  Those first dances with family were more traditional but when everyone got on the floor, it was bedlam and interesting to watch.  A lot of hip swinging.

Tom had a friend come to pick me up when I got tired; the friend took me to where I was staying; he stayed a while and we can talk and talk and talk.  He finally went home and I went to bed.  This morning Tom H came to say goodbye and Erin (my grand niece) came to pick me up and bring me home.  I sold my car last year to Erin so I rode home in "Betsy".  She looked good and drove good.  We got to her parents house about 4 pm and Tom Tock came to bring me here and I am tired.  I've taken a nap but I slept through a couple of TV programs.

I've written a book again and it's time I shut up!  I know there were some things I wanted to mention, but I'll try to remember them at another time.
