Helkel.

I got up and finely heady out to the Grocery store this morning at 9am. thinking would be nobody in. Place was full.  Also found some good Surgical face masks at the Pharmacist. Expensive but much better than what I was picking up at the Clinic.  See if it helps to wear as I sleep. Dust is awful. The one that they have in the Paint stores are not right for me. I need ones that take care of most of the stuff that bothers allergies.
Now is the family back from UK.  My Grandaughter and family got back Friday. GGS loved it. His first time. Wanted to stay. had great weather the whole time.  Not that good up North my family there say. Lots of Rain. Wish I could say the same for here.  Mine in Texas seem to be getting more than Illinois and not even has hot.

MaryAnn, the church in southampton, I use to go to, till it got to much driving for me, as it was about a 20 mile ride.  In the summer, they would have a church service in the garden. I use to like that. they had also planted two trees in memory of my sons. so you understand why i drove all those miles, after I moved here to Riverhead.

Patricia, the humidity has been up to 97 this week, and the temp. 90 for 3 days in a row. My breathing has been very bad, and my feet swell in this weather.

Hi everyone.  We were blessed last night with a very good rain and couple of hours after I set the sprinkler system to water this morning.  It looks like we will be having a bit cooler weather today, partly cloudy and another chance of more rain.

It was so hot yesterday that after Church we decided to just get some carryout for our meal and go home and eat it in the coolness of our home. We got home in time to see the final holes played in the British Open Golf Tourney and to see Jordan Spieth recover from a bad mistake and losing his lead to come back and win.  His prize, besides winning a major championship, was a nice check for $1.8 million.  The second place finisher also got over $1 million in prize money.

I expect to enjoy a very quiet week as nothing on the calendar until Wednesday evening when we will have dinner with Scott and Jennifer and then Thursday a full morning and then a Sunday School social in the early evening.  I may make a quick trip to Costco later this morning for a couple of items.

Joan,  I hope you have a bit cooler day today.  It must have gotten close to 100 hear yesterday.  When I got into the car after Church it was 99 degrees on the outside temperature and must have been 10 or 20 degrees hotter in the car.  Of course the car cools down quickly.

Hal, it looks like Speth has a great career ahead of him.  I missed most of the play yesterday, including that 13th hole where Speith made what the commentator said was the worst shot he had ever seen in Pro golf.  He gave his caddie a lot of credit for helping him not get down on himself and be able to come back and regain the lead and win.  Kuchar certainly gave him a lot of competition.

Patricia, I hope you didn't get the wind and hail predicted.  We were under severe storm warning almost all evening but didn't have major hail but got some heavy rain over a matter of and hour or so.

Mary Ann, I just checked my weather app and right now our humidity is 83%. You would fit right in with our Sunday School class as we are all in our 60's thru later 80's.  Glad you enjoyed your steak and I bet Tom did as well. It is nice your pastor is expanding the congregation of your Church with the afternoon service.

JeanneP, it sounds like a lot of people wanted to get to the grocery store early.  Glad you found the Surgical masks you needed.  Glad your family had a good trip and that they are safely home.

deAngel, how thoughtful of your Church to plant the trees in memory of your sons.

wjoan

Larry, we hit 102 yesterday but they say only 96 for a high today.  Of course then tomorrow says 100 again.  Kind of looking forward to Fall.  LOL

Good morning from a wet, foggy, mist filled Interior. My body has decided to go on strike with humidity again at 95% and steady rain from yesterday about three PM through tonight. We never did get any hail to no surprise, but we did get plenty of the wind around four PM and just after eight PM. The type of the wind that causes the middle tops of the birch to bend slowly back, to the side, forward and back again, just enough to nauseate you if you watch long enough. August has always been our rainiest month with September becoming cooler and beautiful so I wonder if it is starting early?

Farrah is her usual. MaryAnn, yesterday I approached her purposely with the long measuring tape and something spooked her as she ran under the table. I waited until later, casually approached and was able to measure her at 19 inches from stem to stern. She wasn't happy but went along with it.

Nothing new here. The bullying panel has been canceled and rescheduled for sometime around the end of August. People are grumbling about the rain during scheduled outdoor events and I am still coping with arthritis gone haywire. I am trying a brand of cream called Icy Hot after my Capsicum provided only limited relief.

Gloria, our main public library has an acre that is available for folks to plant trees in memory of persons, places, and events. I planted a Siberian Larch in my daughter's memory back in 1995. It, the acre, is becoming quite full and is called "The Silent Garden." It is a place for commentating and memories.

In the Episcopal church here, there are three Sunday Services. The first one at eight AM has no music and uses an older service. The second at ten AM has both choir and lay speakers. This is the one I usually attend. The third at eleven AM is basically the family hour. All services end with a coffee hour in the main hall.

Cut this recipe down for amount you want. Don't know how it would freeze. I have some big Cup Cake pan. Think I may split it and put into them. Then maybe they would freeze.

BUNDT PAN BREAKFAST.

1 cup diced Ham
2 c tater tots…still frozen
1 dozen whisked eggs
1 can (8) Pilsbury Grands biscuits..diced up (raw)
2 c. Cheese…your choice…I used Cheddar
1/4 c milk

All mixed together. Put in greased bundt pan. Bake on 400 degrees for 45 mins. When done flip onto platter and cut and serve

Hi everyone. We are seeing a little sun this morning but the forecast is for cloudy weather most of the day.  We had another over one inch rain yesterday afternoon with lots of lightning and Thunder.  So this makes over 2 inches of rain in two days.  During the first storm a lightning strike hit at our local airport and knocked out the runway lights.  There were a couple of early morning flights that had to be cancelled that would have taken off before daylight.  I didn't get to Costco yesterday as I had planned as was too weary.  However, I will be going over there this morning.  I have already done the morning chores of emptying the dishwasher and getting a couple of things ready, such as the coffee and getting the strawberries out of the freezer that Pat will have with her breakfast.  That will likely be pretty much it for today.

The moving van just arrived next door so my new neighbors will be moving in today.  So it will be a busy day in the neighborhood.

I enjoyed the postings since yesterday but really can't think of anything useful to say (not that usually stops me) so I will just say I hope all have a good day.

I was up at my usual time but I had to be dressed for the day as Annie was coming to take me to the hairdressers for a 9 am haircut.  Tom has been out of town all weekend and will return today.  It's been strange knowing no one else is here.  Annie drives a big pickup and I could not step up high enough to get into the cab of the truck.  I had Annie get a child's chair out of the garage so I could step on that to get into the truck.  I really had my workout this morning what with trying to get into the truck before we got the child's chair.

Before I got out of bed, Kendrick jumped up on the bed and he kept pawing at me, something he never does.  I finally realized he wanted to get under the cover, so I lifted up the blanket and he got between the blanket and top sheet and settled down.  He was there nearly an hour.

Tom lived in or around Petoskey for several years and has always loved it up there.  I know if there were jobs there, he'd love to go back up.  Jamie had a 10-year class reunion this past weekend in Petoskey, so Jamie, Alicia and Tom stayed in a cabin at the home of Tom's good friend, Dan, and I know Tom was in seventh heaven being able to be back up there for a few days.  I'll expect him home late tonight.

No real news here from the Interior. Weather, Farrah and I are about the same as yesterday. With my arthritis yesterday, I slept from one to four PM and just laid in bed and read until about twelve midnight. No real change today and the same weather pattern is expected to stick around until about August 3rd. The building office reminded me this morning that I need to get Farrah's shots and meds redone for another three years so that will be done early in August.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Hi everyone. The morning started out sunny but now we have an overcast sky with more cloudy weather predicted for today and the high up around 90 degrees.

Nothing on the schedule for me today so expect to stay home all day.  Pat may go to her gifts group in a little while but she hasn't said whether she is feeling up to going or not.  I did get to Costco yesterday morning and made fast work of it as was able to get an electric cart.  However, by the time I got home and unloaded the car I was really done in and rested most of the rest of the day.  This evening Scott and Jennifer should be out for dinner and to spend a few hours with us.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you had an interesting experience trying to get in and probably out of the truck.  Glad you thought of something to assist you.   I often wonder how people get in and out of these very high SUV's and trucks unless there is a running board to stand on.  I find some car seats are too high and then some are too low.  I can fall into the low ones but have difficulty getting out of the seat.  Nice that Tom could enjoy a few days at the cabin.

Patricia, so sorry that your arthritis pretty well did you in yesterday and it sounds like more days of the same are ahead.  Is your arthritis better during the winter months?

Jeanne Lee

When my Dad and stepmother were both incapacitated we had help for them 24/7.  One young gal who was daytime help took my stepmother food shopping in her jeep.  All was fine going to the store, but the time spent shopping had drained my stepmother's strength.  We had some laughs over their story of getting her back into the jeep for the trip home.   :)

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I was smiling too, picturing you trying to climb into Annie's truck! ;D It's a good thing you saved those small chairs.  Sometimes when I'm parked in a lot, one of those huge SUV's or trucks, parks right next to me, and I look UP, and wonder how I would ever climb into the passenger or drivers seat.  I also wonder why people want to have those extra large vehicles?  There is usually nothing at all in the back of those pick-ups.  I think it must be a "guy thing"?

Mary Ann

Getting out of the truck is no problem because I just slide down.  I am prepared for the slide and I know what I'm doing.  My one neighbor who could have seen me try to get in the truck works nights so she probably was asleep and missed the whole thing.  Tom had a good laugh when i told him about it.

I have two kids' chairs, different styles, just waiting for two little girls to start walking and being able to sit in the chairs.  I didn't realize I was going to use one of them as a step into their aunt's truck!

I think we're going to have a comfortable day today.  We probably are around 70 degrees now, go up to 75.  I can take that every day.

Mary Ann

angelface555

Another cold rainy Interior day. No news here other than I will be out paying bills and gathering groceries sometime today. My arthritis is very affected by the changing highs and lows of barometric air pressure, Larry. It is usually common in the winter and less so in the summer, so this may be an escalation.

Joy

Mary Ann,  I, too, had to giggle when I read about your trying to get into Annie's truck.  I had the same kind of trouble getting into my son's truck a few years ago.  He kept a small step-stool in the truck for me.

And, I was going to  ask you if you just "slide out" of it.  That was what I did, also.  It was easy getting out.   No problem there.

It is a pretty sunny day here in Central Maryland and a lot cooler temperature wise.  And, best of all, no humidity.  I think it will be getting warmer again over the week end.  I really don't mind the hot weather.  I would rather have that than the cold snow.

Larry,  hope you will have good new neighbors.  Sounds like your neighborhood is a pretty nice place to live with nice people.  Hope that you will become good friends with the new people.

Have a good rest of the afternoon.

Joy
BIG BOX

Mary Ann

Joy, fortunately Annie is not my main method of transportation.  At least I know if she is the "one", I have the kid's chair for a step.  Tom got home last night from a weekend up north and I don't have any appointments in the near future but he is my main source of transportation.  Fortunately his job is very accommodating but he would like to do something else.  We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

My computer says our temp is 86 degrees but there is a slight breeze blowing so it is very comfortable.  I just came inside after sitting on the deck for about 10-15 minutes.  The cat was out with me and was glad to come in.

We are 91 at 12:30.  Expected high today is 102

Mary Ann

Joan, 12:30 your time was 3:30 our time and it is now 5:30 our time and we have 82 degrees.  I am surprised our humidity is 51%.

Looking at our forecast for tomorrow it showed a 50% chance of rain and the next time around, it was 40%.  We do need rain.

I just turned on the air because Tom came home and the air was still.

We are in the 80s today and some breeze feels nice. Decided today would be a lazy day. put on a pair shorts.tshirt and decided a Pizza and Movie day for me at home. Naturally daughter called to say she could come into town but told her make it another day. Did not feel like tiding up.  She has OCD and would be shocked to see all the stuff laying around today. No eating on the couch. OCD is not a laughing matter because it drives me crazy.  I can't stand a dirty house but also not a perfect one. Nothing can be out of place in hers. Put down a glass and it disappears of you put it down and move away. Washed and back in cupboard. She had it as a child but I never thought about it. She and her sister could not be in the same bedroom. Julie my youngest more like me. My eldest like her father. He had a little OCD also. I drove him crazy.

Now I drove all kinds of cars but my Truck was my favourite. Along with a VW bus I had.Loved being high up driving down the Interstates.  Both were seated up high and I like that. Wish I still drove a truck. Some great ones now. I also realize that maybe not today but soon I will not be able to jump in and out of the high seats. I am still alway having to haul things around so miss a truck. Have to ask others to do it. I don't see having the ones with the backs empty though. I like toppers on. I never had a Conversion Van and one for sale in the paper that is a beauty. Love to try it but think maybe a little to old now to be out camping are going across country. Sleeping in a van.

I wasn't going to  do one thing today. I kept going into my kitchen and could smell something. traced it to my big pantry. Decided I had to take the whole thing apart and clean down shelves and floor. Took all out. Finely traced it to a bag of Potatoes that I had picked up a Meijers on Tuesday. They were still in the string bag. Poured them all out and found 2 large potatoes so soft and rotting right at the bottom. That was the things smelling. Can't understand how they got them onto the shelf and did not catch them.Potatoes are a horrible smell when rotten.
But anyway . now got the pantry cleaned out. Wiped a few of the Potatoes at the top and tossed the rest out.

I always shop my large shopping at Meijers which is a nice store when it comes to the Fruit and Veg department and the Butcher shop.

It is 5:35 PM now and we had 78 degrees and hot for most of the day. Then about two in the afternoon, we got those tall cumulus clouds that remind me of mash potatoes. They rose up high and some had holes like donuts and turned black and purple with the wind picking up. I rushed through my shopping, reached home anticipating quite a downpour but all those clouds just moved away and it is 73 and blue skies again... :-\

Mary Ann

Our radar shows rain here and maybe it is, but I haven't looked.  It's nearing bedtime and I'll find out then.  It's very comfortable out, but the house hasn't cooled off enough that the a/c comes on.

Earlier the cat and I went out of the deck and suddenly I heard him making a lot of noise.  This is a cat that barely makes a sound.  I got up to check and the cat next door was on their deck.  After a few minutes, I felt I'd better get Kendrick in the house because I was afraid he'd try to jump to that deck which is a bit higher than mine and is about six feet from mine.  I do think it is the first time since he was a kitten that he's seen another cat.

Mary Ann

angelface555

MaryAnn, probably one or both cats might have made a move if one or the other didn't back down first.

Hi everyone. It looks like we will be having another pretty warm day getting up into the mid-90's.  Yesterday afternoon we had a fairly brief period of rain.  However, about 5 miles away where my son lives there was a bad storm with very heavy rain, high winds and they lost electrical power for about 2 1/2 hours.  They came out a bit early to get in where it was cool and we enjoyed a nice supper that Pat had prepared with a little help from me.  She was having severe pain in the lower back so it was a quite unpleasant time for her. I am not sure how much longer we can be fixing meals like this.  Fortunately the Wednesday night dinners at Church will resume the first Wednesday of September.

Scott put up a small wind chime where the birds had been building their multistory nest in one corner of the porch that is covered and protected and hopefully that will deter them from building in the future.  We have another corner of the porch where we will put one but have to find one small enough to fit.

I will go to coffee in a few minutes but will pass on the Wisdom Group today at Church as need to save my energy for our Sunday School Party early this evening.  We are all old in the class so will meet at 5:30 and it will last 60-90 minutes so we will all be home before dark.  The party is being catered by the same place that catered it last year.  I just hope Pat is feeling up to attending.  If not, I will bring her meal home to her as we have already paid for our meals.

Jeanne, I am beginning to understand much better what exhaustion occurs from shopping and other household duties.

Marilyne, I wonder also why people want those huge vehicles and then why they always seem to decide to park by me so I have to back out blindly.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you enjoyed a nice day yesterday.  It cooled off a lot here yesterday afternoon after the rain but then the temperature went back up and the humidity came back in a big way.  At least Annie with the big truck provides you an alternative method of transportation and you will know next time that you will need the chair.

Patricia, I take it you don't use online bill pay for your bills.  I have used that for a number of years and love it.  This last year I started using mobile deposits and that has saved me several trips to the bank.

Joy, you are fortunate to enjoy a day without high humidity.  We do have nice neighbors and just the other day the young man who lives across the street was going on about how pleased he was to have moved into this neighborhood as it is very quiet.

JeanneP, did you make it to the movies and out for pizza yesterday as you hoped to do?  Good for you in telling your daughter you just weren't up to a visit.  I think my great aunt Iva must have had OCD as her house was perfect and looked like it came right out of a magazine.  I was never comfortable in her house the few times we visited.  She was a loving kind lady and a very hard worker but it was what it was.  I hope the spoiled potatoes didn't spoil your plans for yesterday.

I was up earlier, then went back to bed, as I like to do.  The deadbolt lock is unlocked so I think Tom is out to his breakfast and may bring mine back.  We have a warm start already as it is 74 degrees and I feel some humidity.  I'll have to watch the TV to find if that is true.

Patricia, the cat next door just laid down on the deck and watched Kendrick from the distance and didn't get excited at all.  But poor Kendrick was beside himself at seeing another cat.  He probably thought he was the only cat in the world!  From his actions, I think he'd get along OK with the cat but I didn't want to chance having him jump from one deck to the other.  I think the other cat is the one that jumped from that deck to mine, but my deck is about a foot lower; Kendrick would have had to jump up and over about four or five feet.

It's Thursday so the lawn guys are here.  They do a good job and are very friendly.  This particular crew has been doing our yard work for many years.  They don't mow along side the pond now, but in previous years it was not unusual to see a mower stuck at the edge of the pond and they'd have to have help getting out.  They use both riding and big walking mowers and it was the walking mowers that got stuck.

I have my a/c shut off right now, but I will turn it on soon.  I hate to have it on so early in the day.

Mary Ann

JeanneP

Larry.  No I was watching the movies and having Pizza at home yesterday. Now today it is really nice out. I think it stormed last night. I don't have the AC turned off and windows open.  I have to leave so for the Dr. Office. Get my ears checked. Had them done in May but they seem to be clogged again.

People say that the Movie. "Dunkirk" is very good. I will take my car to Honda one day next week and the Theatre is next door so will see it then.
I remember that time in UK in the 1940 when it happened. This is the time they came around the neighborhoods  with the trucks taking men between the ages of 18 and 43. My father among them and most my friends brothers and fathers. They were taking all the small boats that people had.  Some returned home in a few day and many did not. My father did. So many never returned from the war about that time. My family lost about 5 men.
France was the only country that surrendered to Germans at the Belgium Border which made it happen. All those men stuck over in France. Awful.

I also had a Aunt in UK when I was growing up that had OCD. never liked to visit there. All had to remove shoes before going in the house.  She would always give us something like cookies and milk and would fix tea but then out came the sweeper and clean all around us. My Father had a little of it but had to as my mum was  so different. Would drop her coat and things just anywhere. had cups all over. Cig. butts the same. He use to just follow her around picking up. I am normal. Don't like messes but can stand things showing around the room without making a fuss.

Better shower and get dressed up.

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior. It is said to be cloudy today but they also said rain all yesterday. Yesterday it rained heavily in the morning and then cleared and dried up. Most of the day was between 78 and 80 and very hot and dry. Until those rain clouds moved in and on out in the afternoon and early evening. Lots of the wind and purple clouds with not a drop of rain. Some folks on the bus actually wanted winter as were sick of either rainy days or very hot dry ones.

Today is sunny and clear and only up to 69 at 9:19 AM with humidity at 79%. However, as I posted yesterday, don't count on it. There are several temperature variables in this city and a number of places where it can rain heavily and right next to it is clear, sunny and hot. There is a place by the University where you can have rain on one side, cross the street and it is dry as a bone. This city is built partially on the valley floor and goes up onto several ridges and foothills with lots of water everywhere so you find weather extremes and variables. The rings of foothills and mountains do blunt the worst of most storms, however.

I have just the screen door shut on the balcony for Farrah, but may close it as the construction machinery and vehicle backup sounds are irritating. The subtle building shakes due to heavy equipment up further on the street are also alarming and will continue to October's end. They are replacing and repairing electrical poles and laying new pipe and underground utilities in the city center. Unfortunately, I live next to the city center.  We did receive a note on the shakes and it said the building is built to go with them and not deconstruct. It is supposedly built that way for hurricanes and earthquakes. Altho, if I see a hurricane here, I likely will not be posting about it....

My arthritis hasn't changed today. I believe I will finally have to break down and go for stronger meds if they have them. Oddly enough, now that I have Medicare I never use it and keep getting fliers explaining to me what I have and can do with it. I am just not at all fond of doctors.

Larry, I have a number of cards due to my types of income but haven't had a bank account or written a check for a number of years. I pay on and offline depending on what they need and what is easiest for me. This company requires no cash or check or charge but a money order or cashier's check which is inconvenient but at least it forces me to get out at least monthly in colder times.

MaryAnn, I'm sure Kendrick was surprised to see another cat. Farrah was supposedly aggressive in a number of foster homes which led to her being kept in a small bathroom. I believe it was fear aggression as she is very calm here. When she is in her carrier at various places and dogs and other animals come up to her carrier, she remains sprawled out and ignores them. I have never seen her hiss or act agitated but then she is in her mesh carrier and I am always nearby.

angelface555

I had a boss with OCD at one of my first jobs. It was at a ceramics store and everything she asked any of us to do was immediately redone by her. She would even shadow the cash register. When I left after six months, she was berating her employees for not having the wherewithal to stick around. She thought we were lazy. I really wanted to say something but held my tongue as she'd never believe any of it.
