Over the years, I've heard many accounts of cats, alerting the family when there was an intruder or a fire.  Just recently, in the aftermath of the wildfires in Santa Rosa/Napa, there were lots of accounts of cats jumping on beds and yowling into their owner's ears.  Unfortunately, many of these cats took off, the minute a door was opened, and did not stay close to the family. Many were never found, but others were rescued later.

Gloria -  your story was a good example of a smart cat, trying to alert the family of danger!  As Patricia said, I hope your husband "apologized" for his misunderstanding!

I've heard that a parrot will warn the family of danger, by sounding off with a loud squawking noise.  Also heard that crows are the smartest of all birds.  The only opinion I have about them, is that I don't like them.  They're a big nuisance in my backyard . . . hog all the bird feeders I put out, and raid the nests of other birds, and eat the eggs. :(

I wouldn't say that Kendrick is not smart because I do think he has ESP, but he hasn't done anything like Patricia, MarsGal and Gloria de have mentioned.  He does know when it is 10 pm because he comes into the computer room, especially after I have turned off the music on the TV.  One thing puzzles me, however.  His food is in a dish along side his water dish.  When I am changing his food, he is sitting on the floor, waiting for the new food.  His new food is the same as his old food and I don't know why he's so anxious to get a new bowl of food.  I'm not sure Kendrick would alert either Tom or me if someone came in the house unannounced because if we have company and he does not know the person, he goes down to the family room, never to be seen again until the person leaves.  Fortunately, we have not been faced with such an occasion.

Kendrick is a good boy and I continually tell him so.  When he is stretched out on my bed, I realize how large he is; he's enormous!  I think from tip of tail to tip of front paws, he must be four feet long.  I haven't been able to measure him because when I move, he moves.

We have some snow, but not as much as some of the southern states.  Tom is out driving and I don't worry about his driving but I do worry about other drivers.  I asked him to not drive in icy conditions and he said he would not.  He is driving with Uber to make some money.

Marilyne, ravens, are smarter, they even picked up ice fishing by one raven watching and learning and then teaching it to the rest of the flock! One item I have against owls is they will indiscriminately kill many small birds and stash them in tree hollows for later meals. Ravens are mainly carrion eaters, but they do hunt, and when they do, it is similar to the big cats or wolves using a group effort.

Have you seen the video of a Candian cat chasing black bears off its property? Or the one where a cat has the habit of riding around on the back of deer in a Texas wildlife preserve?

Sandy, it sounds as if snow may be unusual for your area? We are in a cycle of having snow, rain turning it to ice and repeat!  :-\

MaryAnn, perhaps he sees it, the food, as a new gift? Farrah has a habit of trudging around and around me on the bed to wake me up in the morning. I think she begrudges my morning shower before her being fed! And while it is different flavors of canned, it is still "pate." Perhaps, it might be an idea to secret a tape measure by your bed to satisfy your curiosity?

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Winnie did the same thing . . . wait beside the food bowl for fresh food, (dry or wet). Then he would dig in, like he hadn't had a meal in weeks! ha ha  I do think that the dry kibble somehow loses it's flavor or texture, when it sits out for while??  I noticed that it always had a definite strong odor when I first poured it into the bowl. Then, when I dumped the leftovers into to trash, it had no odor at all.  Of course the uneaten wet food dries out, and forms a hard surface, that Winnie would not touch!  It had to be fresh!

Patricia - since ravens and crows are in the same family, I guess their eating habits are the same?  Crows also prefer such food as bird eggs, road kill, or raiding the garbage cans.  They can always be found sitting around and waiting patiently, at the outside seating areas of sidewalk cafe's.  As soon as the people get up and leave the table, the crows are right there to take whatever is left.  It appears they will eat just about anything.  No I haven't see the videos of the cat chasing the bear or the cat riding on the back of the deer.  Lots of videos of nursing female animals, (cats, dogs and wild animals) who "adopt" an abandoned baby of another species, and allow it to nurse, and treat it like one of their own.  Those are my favorite animal videos.

angelface555

Here the Ravens seem more aggressive. If you have stuff in the back of your pickup truck or where they smell food or can get at it, they will tear it to shreds. But then the Eagles here, both Bald and Golden, do the same. They will steal your fish, supplies or dog food if left out and available.

Ravens tend to leave for higher latitudes during the summer and return along with the cold weather. Mated couples seek out and defend territories against all comers and juvenile males gather in large flocks until they've found their own mate. It is the juveniles that cause the most mischief by leading forays into mated couples territories or swiping food. If one finds something, he calls out and within minutes, the entire flock is there.

Surprisingly, I know nothing about the female juveniles. There have been incidents where ravens have swiped fish hanging in smoke house's open-sided racks in fish camps and dancing in front, just out of reach, of chained sled dogs. There have been reports of them swiping dog food, rising up a few feet and then pelting the dog with the pellets.

I will try and see if I can find links to those videos.

MarsGal

Not five minutes after I shut the computer off after my last post, it started snowing. We got only a little, mostly melting, but I think there is about a quarter inch or less on the car. I couldn't get Shan interested in looking  at it.

The cats all seem to want my to refill their food dish when they start seeing a bare spot at the bottom of the bowl.

Your comments about cats alerting their folks to danger reminded me that yesterday two women died and was injured when a house locally went up in flames. The two that died went back into the house to try and rescue their cats. That always upsets me because it would be hard for me to leave my house if it were burning without trying to rescue the cats. These are old houses and they go fast. This year we had four house fires just on this street, three of them within a block and a half of me. Scary thoughts!

A few days ago, I gave Kendrick some "wet" food and left it there overnight.  I pitched it in the morning, but the only thing he took from the dish was the liquid.  I could not find what kind of food he got (I think it was salmon) and it came along with a purchase.  Anyway, while he has eaten some "wet" food before, he is more likely to leave it and eat the dry food.

Our temperature is going down and my indoor/outdoor thermometer reads 22 degrees; I think we are to be at 21 degrees tonight.  If the road is clear, Dot and I will go to church in the morning.  It is her choice, since she is the driver now.  Our church has its annual "Carols by Candlelight" tomorrow afternoon and I asked Tom to take us and go with us to that.  It is at 6 pm and it is dark by then.

Monday morning, weather permitting, Dot and I will go to the memorial service for a former neighbor of hers when she and Norm lived in another condo complex.  I saw the man and his wife come in Mr Burger on Sunday and he looked bad but I was surprised to see his obit in the paper a couple of days later.  The man was more Norm's friend than they were Dot's, but she did know them so we are planning to go to the service.

I have come in here in response to a message I received in another site.  I do keep up to date with you and family and also Kendrick.  I move very slowly these days but often reflect on times gone by and remember  time spent at Grand Haven when I met Norm and Dot.
Loved seeing the photos of the twins and they look so well and happy.
Keep well Mary Ann. You are doing a very good job of keeping the Bait shop open.

Hi Everyone.  It was a very chilly 26 degrees when I got up about 6 am this morning.  However, we are have a sunny day and it will get up to the higher 40's by afternoon.  The only plans we have for today are to go to Church and then hope to go out to lunch with friends if Pat feels up to attending Church this morning.  Yesterday was a rainy, misty type of day and the sun came out only around 5 pm.

MarsGal, according to the news last evening Atlanta got hit pretty hard with the snow and freezing.  It sounds like you fared almost as well as we did since we only had rain and no snow. It sounds like Shan was a bit ornery yesterday with his motion toy.  Four house fires in a year near you would be concerning.

deAngel, better safe than sorry.  Will your bake sale and Chinese auction be rescheduled.  It sounds like Tiger saved the day from you being robbed.

Patricia, the mail room that Stacey's apartment had was within the building on the first floor.  I think the mailman or UPS driver was allowed to deliver to the apartment.  She often got the big coolers type boxes with her insulin in it and she couldn't have handled it from the mail room.  Nice to have the carts to carry your packages or groceries.  At her first apartments they had some old grocery carts outside by the basement door.  Usually I could get one of those to get the groceries and other items to her apartment.  When she moved I had to get a little carrier that folds up that I could set boxes on to roll them up to her apartment.  We don't sleep with our windows open either.  I have seen the video of the cat riding on the back of the deer but not the cat chasing off the black bear.

Marilyne, I bet the cat's owner were very happy they had been roused to get out of the house with the fire approaching that the cats must have sensed.  Winnie knew what Winnie liked in terms of the food.

Sandy, did you get much snow?  I like the emoji's you used.

Mary Ann, sure hope you never need to be alerted by Kendrick.  I hope you get to attend your "Carols by Candlelight" this afternoon.  I elected not to go to the choir special Christmas program at our Church.

Junee, good to see a posting from you.

Good morning from the Interior! Nothing new as yet this morning, I've just finished morning preparations and everyone is clean and fed.

MaryAnn, when I put out one half of a three-ounce can daily, I check back in a few moments and if she hasn't finished it, I put it in the fridge in a container until later. I no longer keep dry food or treats in the house and she has acclimated to the wet food.

Larry, these carts are very helpful and are a two shelf, steel, locking, wheeled cart. Some folks have actually taken them for use in the apartment for microwave tables or other uses and management always has to intervene. Salvation Army uses the carts for food box delivery and so does the Meals On Wheels program.

There is a limited amount so it is very rude and selfish to appropriate them for personal use. We certainly pay enough for these conveniences and I expect to be able to use them! I do have a wheeled personal cart I purchased from Amazon, but I use it inside of the building. I tried taking it with me on the bus but it is too cumbersome. If I had a car I would feel differently.

A lady just moved from here to public housing and I saw her on the bus. She says that the places are small and smell. And that there are so many rules and regulations that she feels hemmed in and no pets allowed. It makes one appreciate what they have.

If I could afford to live elsewhere, such as a small house and yard, I would love it but with my limited abilities that is no longer possible. It takes me two days to do some things that used to take me a half hour or less!

Mary Ann

Dot and I just returned from eating at The Cholesterol Pit and it was busier there than I've ever seen it.  I did not see a booth when we first got in, in fact, there was only one parking space and it was in the handicapped area and we took it!  I finally found a booth, got the eating utensils and water while Dot got in line to order.  It took about 45 minutes to get our food and that was unusual, but as I wrote, it was busy.  We split a piece of coconut cream pie and a tuna melt.  Both were very good.

Tom is driving and will go to the store and about 5:30 we'll pick up Dot to go to Carols by Candlelight at church, an annual Christmas program.  We probably will not go to the Christmas Eve service.

It was a bit slippery this morning, but nothing we could not handle.  I did go to the car and back in the house by way of the garage, but I think I could have made it OK on the sidewalk.

Mornin all.  Cold here in the NW part of the U.S.  Day and night in the 30's.  At least it is not snowing.  LOL

Lindancer

Good late afternoon, already dark. Very cold outside, it snowed most of yesterday but did melt a lot to day.

Junee, so good to see you posting  I know what you mean about moving slowly. I think it week I got a little bit slower.

MaryAnn, I use to always enjoy the Candle light service at Christmas. Taffy, only eats the gravy.  I buy the one for gravy lovers. Fancy Feast and also Meow Mix. She has had trouble with hair balls. Son the Vet had said give her soft food.

Patricia, you ask me if my husband made up withTiger. Yes he went out and bought what he called cookies. Special bag small bag of treats.

We are back from Carols by Candlelight and it was very nice.  I was disappointed in the attendance, however, it started at 6 pm and we had some ice spots in the area and with 26 degree temperature, the ice did not disappear.  It wasn't bad at church, but could have been near the members' homes.  The program lasted about 1 1/2 hours, then we went to the church dining room for refreshments, which were cookies baked by various women in the church.

We had an oboe soloist on the program and she was wonderful.  We have bell ringers and even when we have everyone there, I don't like them and tonight was awful.  There were six ringers and all played in the upper octaves, no deep toned bells (or ringers) and the only bell I could hear was one woman at the end of the row and she was directly in front of me.  I wasn't familiar with the piece they played and I think it was a disaster.

It was nice going at night because a lot of houses are decorated for Christmas, including houses in our complex.  I don't have anything out yet, but I hope to get started sometime Monday.  In the meantime, Monday morning Dot and I are going to the funeral of her former neighbor.

Tom placed the Amazon order tonight so I hope by the end of the week that Kendrick will have a new toy.  And I hope he likes it!!!

Hi Everyone.  This morning I am having to work from my laptop as our furnace stopped working sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning and my office is fairly chilly. It is 36 degrees outside this morning but will be getting into the high 50's this afternoon.   Fortunately we do have a small electric heater that is keeping our family area reasonably warm.  I have talked to the AC/Heating and they will be able to come out today and fix it.  We are also scheduled to have our annual termite inspection at 10 am this morning. s

Scott has today off and wrote me early this morning saying they would like to come out and make our dinner tonight.  I am sure we will take him up on his offer.  Nothing else is on our schedule for today.

Pat did go to Sunday School and church with me yesterday.  Then we decided to come home and go out to eat yesterday evening, which we did.  It was a beautiful day yesterday and it looks like today will be the same.

Patricia, that sound like a nice cart with the two shelves.  Amazing that people would think they could just take them and use them full time.

Mary Ann, was there a particular reason why the Cholesterol Pit was busier than you have ever seen i?
I sure hope you take no chances on the ice and hold on to someone if there is any danger.  Glad you were able to attend the Carols by Candlelight.  Our choir combined with the Fine Arts department of one of our big high schools and did a special Christmas program last Friday night.  The pastor announced that it was very well attended by the community and the Church members.  Yesterday we had a young man who played the violin very well and accompanied the choir on two special numbers, one for the Anthem and another during the time the offering was collected.  Sorry the bells were not pleasant for you.  We do have a fine bell choir that plays fairly often during the Sunday service.  We had something that was to be delivered by Amazon yesterday as it was a Prime item.  However, it was delayed but probably will be delivered today.
Joan, I think it is getting pretty cool over most of the country.  Glad you can stay nice and warm.

Mary Ann

Larry, I was thinking it would be nice if the termites would freeze, but your temperature isn’t quite cold enough.  I think the reason the Cholesterol Pit was so crowded is because of Christmas.  You know how it is that so many people go to church at Christmas and Easter and they just decided to eat before or after services by going out.  I could tell as we drove in that it was going to be busy because the only parking spot available happened to be a handicap spot and Dot has a handicap plate â€" so we took it!

Driving is iffy this morning and Tom is going to drive us to the funeral this morning.  I located my TracFone so I can call him to pick us up as I doubt he’ll stay for the funeral.  He did know the man who died because he lived across the road from Norm in the other condo.

How nice that Scott and Jennifer will fix your dinner tonight.  I loved the oboe soloist last night at Carols by Candlelight but I don’t care for the Bell Choir even when the group is complete.  I think it has to do with the tempo, things seem to go so much slower.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Good morning all:  Another Monday rolls around, and brings us closer to Christmas.  I guess I'm about as prepared as a person can get, at my age.  I've ordered all gifts on line, except for the grandkids, who will be getting $$$'s.  The only thing I have to worry about is food for Christmas Day.  We'll be going to son & dil's for Christmas Eve, so I only have to think about the following day, when there will be only the two daughters and one granddaughter here.  Younger daughter lives in a tiny apartment, so can never host a meal for more than one person!  Older daughter lives in the Central Valley, so her place is too far away for us to drive. They all end up here, which makes sense, because this house is big, with plenty of room.

Mary Ann - It's a rare treat to hear an oboe soloist, and sounds like you enjoyed it.  Too bad the Bell Choir fell short, but I can imagine that when one person is missing or gets out of sync, it throws everything off.  I think it's wonderful that you  attend the Christmas  church events, and also nice of you to go to the funeral for Norm's friend.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I would miss a lot of activities if it were not for Tom taking me.  He stayed for the Carols by Christmas but did not stay for the funeral.  The funeral was interesting and included a full military service.  I had not seen that inclusive a military service before and this service had three rifle shots inside the building.  They warned it would be loud and it was, but it could have been worse.  Dot had lived across the street from the couple but had been in our condo complex for nearly 20 years and she recognized only a couple people from that other complex.  The minister who had the service was the man who is preaching at our church during Advent.  He didn't know Ray (the deceased) but told more about him than some ministers who knew the dead person.  After the service we had a lunch at the funeral home and when I could, I went to the minister to tell him how much I have enjoyed his being with us during December.  He sat down and talked with Dot and me for several minutes.  He's a nice man and I'm glad I did that.

I called to have Tom pick us up and he was there shortly.  After we got home, he said he had been to the store so brought in the groceries and now we can eat again (not really, we did have food in the house).

One picture of Tom's family was sent to Tom's former MIL who is the great-grandmother of the twins.  She is almost blind from wet Mac D and called me to tell me how much she enjoyed the picture.  She can see out the sides of her eyes - a bit, not much.  She lives alone in a small town NE of here and has to have someone take her everywhere.  She is looking for a house in town so she can walk to church.  She will be 81 next week.  She calls me her "little sister" (because of the difference in our heights) and of course, she is my "big sister".  We went to Denmark and Germany together in 2000.

Mary Ann

angelface555

Good morning from the warm, wet, with a very windy, (85MPH gusts); Interior. Nothing new here, just housework, laundry and having maintenance in for some minor items repaired before my inspection on the 20th.

larryhanna

Hi Everyone. We are to have a nice sunny 55 degree day today.  Scott called me yesterday afternoon to say that the battery in his car was dead.  So I went down and picked them up so they could come out for dinner and spend the evening and then they took the PT Cruiser back to use until he gets a new battery.  The only thing on the agenda today is for Pat to get an eye exam at Costco. I am confident she will have to get new glasses.  She wants to go a little early before her appointment so she can look around.  I just hope she can get an electric cart to use.  I will do a little shopping there as well.

The termite inspectors came pretty much on time and all was well as they found no signs of termites.  This company uses the Centracon treatment system.  A short time after they left the door bell rang again and it was the heating repair man.  All he found was that the breaker had tripped and when he reset that the furnace came back on.  He checked everything out and could find nothing wrong and said sometimes a spike on the electrical line can cause the 220 circuit to trip.  I had checked the breaker box but my experience was that a break would throw the switch over to the off position and all seemed to be fine.  So if this happens again I will know what to do.  The house quickly warmed up and all seems to be OK.

Mary Ann, I hadn't thought about the added shoppers out on a weekend and probably eating out so they could get an early start for shopping on Sunday.  Scott did fix the dinner last night.  Fortunately we had all the ingredients he needed for the taco pie that he likes to make and it was very good with a small side salad.  I have never played the bells but it doesn't appear to be an easy thing to do. I can't imagine shooting off a rifle inside a Church.  Was this man a high ranking officer in the military at one time?  It was nice of you and Dot to take a few minutes to sit down and visit with your minister.

Marilyne, I hope your daughters take the lead in preparing your Christmas and other meals when they visit.  As I was growing up we always went to my dad's parents house, about a mile from where we lived, for a Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange.  Then we stayed home Christmas morning and then went to my other grandmother's house on Christmas afternoon.

Patricia, did you have to tie everything down with wind gusts like that.  That is hurricane strength wind.

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior.

Larry, it was extremely windy with one or more trees down but no outages that I'm aware of. I'm sure those gusts were in the foothills rather than in the valley.

"SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 3PM AKST MON ...WARM WEEK AHEAD... STRONG SOUTHERLY CHINOOK WINDS BLOWING ACROSS THE ALASKA RANGE HAVE BROUGHT TEMPERATURES INTO THE 30S AND 40S ACROSS MUCH OF THE SOUTHERN INTERIOR. SOUTH WINDS ARE GUSTING AS HIGH AS 85 MPH THROUGH THE ALASKA RANGE. WINDS WILL DECREASE SOME TONIGHT AND TEMPERATURES WILL COOL SLIGHTLY, BUT ANOTHER STORM MORE WARM CHINOOK WINDS ARE EXPECT TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WED NIGHT. WARM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY WITH A COOLING TREND ON THE WEEKEND."

Larry, the funeral  yesterday was at the funeral home, not in a church.  The volley was loud but not so much as to be overpowering.

How unfortunate, Larry, that Scott's battery died last night and he's lucky that you have a second car for him to use.  I'm afraid his taco dinner would not appeal to me because I am not fond of the taco flavoring.  I'd like the salad, however.

This morning I had my hair cut and afterward Tom and I did our "thing" (like Dot and I do our "thing") at the restaurant next door.  The restaurant puts a coupon in a monthly mailer and I cut that out; it calls for "2 for the price of 1" and we do take advantage of that.  We both had omelets this morning.

We woke to 17 degrees this morning and it is only 20 now, but I'm sitting in the sun and that is bright.

Marilyn, have you been able to get the Grand Haven site?  I just looked at it and it must be foggy over the lake because it is very hazy.  There are whitecaps but not all the way out.  The water is warmer than the air, but maybe the fog shows up because of the much colder weather.  The water temp is 41 degrees and the air is 25 degrees.  While it is not snowing here, it could be in Grand Haven.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Seeing your message prompted me to check Grand Haven. Happy to report, that the webcam is working just fine!  I hadn't looked in for a couple of weeks, because all I was getting was a black screen, with a white circle going around and around in the middle.

It does look very cold, with choppy waves.  No people at all walking on the beach. Now that the leaves have fallen from that tree, I can once again see the entire shore line.  I hope they trim that tree before Spring arrives.  I'm afraid it will be much taller and wider when it leafs out, and will obstruct the view more than ever.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I just looked at Grand Haven and the haze has left.  It does look cold there.  I doubt anyone will trim the tree but it would be nice if they'd move the camera which I think would be less expensive.

I answered a post from Patricia in another folder and her temperature was 28 degrees.  My temp thingie showed 21 degrees!  Imagine Michigan being warmer than Alaska!

It's been a nice day, however, and the sun is shining.

Winter Comparisons for both areas:

Fairbanks;   "Average temperature‎: ‎27.55°F   Annual high temperature‎: ‎37.9°F
Average annual precipitation - rainfall‎: ‎10.83 inch   Annual low temperature‎: ‎17.2°F

It was harder to find a simple Michigan comparison but I found this one.

Grand Haven;  "Average Weather in Grand Haven Michigan, United States
In Grand Haven, the summers are warm and partly cloudy and the winters are freezing, windy, and mostly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 21°F to 79°F and is rarely below 7°F or above 86°F."

Mary Ann

Patricia, I can agree with that about Grand Haven, but I doubt Grand Rapids would fall into the categories because we are further from the lake than Grand Haven which gets the benefit of winds from across Lake Michigan.  We do get lake effect snow in the winter if the lake has not frozen over.  If the lake freezes, we don't get much snow - or lake effect snow - because we need open water for the snow to form.

I think someone from further south commented at one time that Alaska was warmer then they were and I don't remember the state, but it would have been one of the southern states and one where we have S&F members.  Memory fails me.

We had gotten to 21F but now we are at 18F.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Looks like no one has checked into this forum today??  I was locked out first thing this morning, but emailed Chia, and she told me what to do to get into the site. It worked!  Then I had some errands to run, so just now going to post a few messages.

AJ and I went to the Bass Pro shop this morning, in hopes of finding a few gifts.  We only found something for granddaughter Claire, but no luck on the others.  We love to go to that store during the holidays, whether we buy or not, so it was a fun just looking around.  We stood for a while and watched the kids visiting with Santa Claus.  He was a very realistic looking Santa . . . looked a lot like our Radioman/Don.

Then we were planning to go to the big See's Candies discount store in San Jose, but both of us were worn out from walking around Bass Pro.  It's a HUGE store, with much to see, and takes a lot of walking.  See's Candy will have to wait until tomorrow.

Mary Ann

I wasn't able to get on this morning, either, and Bubble wrote how to get on, but I was unable to connect from either Firefox or Windows 10.  This is the first time I've been able to get on and it is just past 5 pm here.  I did try during the day, but no luck.

It hasn't been necessary for me to go outside today, however, we haven't been above 20 degrees all day and we are getting a fair amount of snow.  With the snow, I asked Tom to get the mail, which he probably will have to do all winter.

Annie brought over a new thing for Kendrick but he was afraid of it when running.  It is a square plastic box with a pump in the center (enclosed) that pumps the water up through a plastic flower and the water goes into a trough.  The overflow goes back into the square box.  Tom says the connector does not carry much electricity, but I am leery of the thing.  If Annie's cat is electrocuted, I didn't buy it!!!

There are two large Amazon packages sitting on the railing of our porch and they are much too heavy for me, so they will stay there until Tom gets home.  I am sure the toy like Farrah has is in the box but we won't see it until morning.

This is the first significant snowfall we've had and it probably is the first of what will be on the ground until Spring.

It's funny that you have 19 degrees MaryAnn and here in the Arctic, we have 40 degrees. It is very slippery out with rapidly melting snow over black ice. Farrah had her shots today and pretty much ignored the whole affair, not even a wince!

There was a large brindle pit bull that sniffed her through the window of her mesh carrier and she actually turned her back on it! She did have a good checkup and "sang the song of her people" the first few minutes of the cabs to and from but not more than that. After having cats that screamed all the time they were in cabs, this was a pleasant surprise!

The only bad part was after consulting with the vet who has abused/feral cats of his own, he said while her progress has been remarkable, that at five years he doubts if there will be any other real changes.
