Joy, I also did the DNA test.  I was supposed to find I also had Greek, beside French, English and Italian

MaryAnn, I got into Ancestry I decieded Ihad so many pictures of my grand parents and other relatives. I would look everyone up and make a scrap book for my 3 grands and nephew. It took me almost 6 months to put one scrap book together.    Then the other two were easy.  I stayed on the male side of the family, which was easy.  I got all the way back Ezile in grandfathers 1742.   Now I have a whole note book on grandmothers, which I still have to work on. The women change their names of course.  I just followed the Gerard family and also the Hansons back to the Civil War.  I did not have much luck when I checked in Europe, One grandfather was born in Naples and his wife was born in Paris.

Joy, I just read what I wrote after I pushed post.  The word is supposed :-[ to be surprised

MaryAnn, I Don't know what I do with my time.  I was going to check 3rd cousins, and just never got around to it. WE seniors stay so busy. I put some family names in Googles and came up with some interesting information

We sometimes let the cat out the front door for a few minutes.  Both Tom and I have forgotten him and tonight it was Tom's turn.  The cat is outside and hasn't come back yet.  I know he doesn't go far and Tom is sure when he turns on his light in the morning the cat will be by his window letting Tom know he wants to come in.  I don't have to go to bed at 10 pm or so tonight because of no cat.  I'll look for him once more before I close up shop.

Annie and her SO's daughter just left.  Annie cut my toenails and changed my bed.  I had a couple of other small jobs but she can do them when she's here next time.

Gloria, one of my family names is Cook, another Fleming.  Very common names.  I really have a lot of information on both sides of my family, as far as I can go, that is.  It has been interesting with DNA finding people I knew of but do not know.  I have contacted some of them, but not all.

At 10 pm our temp is 48 degrees.

Hi Everyone.  Our day starts out cloudy and it will only get to 73 this afternoon.  I plan on staying home all day unless we decide to go out and eat our main meal.  Pat has been in the house for several days now so she may want to do so.

Yesterday was a busy day as was gone all morning and accomplished what I had set out to do.  Before I left I called the Tech Support company I contracted with in January (and had forgotten that I had done so but saw a note on my calendar to remind me).  I had them do a spring cleaning of my desktop and today will have them do it on my laptop as I can't get the Chrome browser to even install on it.  I am using the Chrome browser on my desktop now, which I haven't been able to do for sometime.  I will have them check over two computers every three months or if I encounter a problem.  They suggested a security program I had not heard of called ESET so I am going to check that out today.  So it should be a restful day.

MarsGal, that sounds like a pretty complicated project to assemble the stand and mount the TV.

Mary Ann, for some reason for quite awhile I end up typing double letters without realizing it.  I also use the technique of doing a Google search for a word I am not sure how to spell and that the spell checker doesn't have in the dictionary.

Glad that those who have done the DNA testing are happy with the results.

Joy, I have a bunch of Christmas and other event cards that we have received in a bookcase and it is time to just pitch them.

Bubble, it sounds like you have a bigger family than you knew in terms of cousins.  My father was an only child, I was the only boy my parents had and now there is just my son so our line ends when he is gone as far as the Hanna name goes.

Mary Ann

#8494
Larry, I have seen the Hanna name in some of my genealogy readings.  It is not in my family; did you say it goes back to Scotland?  I hate to see names die out; both my dad and his brother had only one son but Norm had three sons and two grandsons and now one great-grandson.  My cousin had three sons and I don't know how many grandsons, so small as our family is, there should be a few Tocks in the future.

I gathered the trash last night for this AM  pickup and at 11 pm made one last look for the cat.  As I opened the storm door, he darted in the house so he was safely inside for the night.  To him, it was as if nothing unusual went on.  I was happy to have him inside.  Tom said Kendrick paid him a call during the night so he knew the cat was back.  Otherwise Tom would have been waiting for the cat to go to the window in Tom's room and let him know he wanted to come in.  Tom sleeps in the lower level and I am on the upper level at the back of my unit (first floor of the condo).

Grand Haven is pretty this morning with the sun from the east shining on those red structures.  A few whitecaps too.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I'm glad that Kendrick came home, safe and sound!  I thought about him last night when I went to bed, and hoped that he wasn't stuck outside for the night.

I think my maiden name of Cole, will continue on from our branch of the family tree?  I had one brother, and he had two sons, so I'm hoping that at least one, and maybe both of my nephews, will someday have children.  They are in their 30's now, and one is married but no kids.  The younger one isn't married.  It seems like out here in California, young people stay single much longer than they used to.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, Rain again. We should have a lot of May Flowers. I have to go to the foot doctor to day, as I have another infection in my toe.

MaryAnn, I am also happy the Kendrick came home safe and sound.

Marilyne, my maiden name was DeAngelis, I guess it stopped with me. as I was and only child.

Not complicated, Larry, just time-consuming. At any rate, I had to stop after puting the mounting bracket on the back of the stand. I need to find proper sized bolts to install the corresponding brackets onto the back of the TV as the bolts provided are not correct for my TV. I did grab the bolts from the packet Sony sent for wall mounting. They fit, but there are only three for some reason and I need four. I'll sort through my pile of odds and ends bolts, screws, brads, etc. before heading to the hardware store. So, for now, the TV is siting on the top shelf. I haven't yet, thank goodness, taken the attached shelf stand off the TV. I was able to get some of the cables into the cable channel housing, so the back looks a lot better.

I've been having trouble with my internet connection dropping on both my laptop upstairs and the smartTV. I was having some trouble with that happening when I had Comcast, but mostly just on the laptop, so I had concluded that the trouble was with the laptop net card. I may have to revise my thinking on that since the Internet on the TV is acting up too. Strangly, I haven't noticed any problem with my tablet connecting. The router is sitting next to the TV so it can't be distance. Coincidentally, this has been getting worse on both and definitely a lot worse than before the FCC head nixed Net Neutrality. Of course, this is something good for the computer discussion group. What I'd really like to know is whether or not others are noticing more slow loading and drops than before. I think I'll post the question over there. Maybe Patricia will answer there. She is good at this stuff.

larryhanna

Hi Everyone.  The day is bright and sunny and will get into the mid to high 70's this afternoon.  I plan on attending a meeting at 10:30 this morning and then spend the rest of the day at home.  About the only thing we did yesterday was go out to dinner around 6 pm.

The tech worked on my laptop for most of the day and wasn't able to get the problem fixed but he thinks he has identified what the problem. It is going tol require a repair of the Windows 10 software  and possibly a clean install of Windows 10.  His workday was over and he said he would work on it Monday.  However, I know how to do the Windows repair of software or a clean install and will go ahead and do it this weekend. Fortunately I don't have very much on this laptop so will be sure to save any files and make a list of the programs I have running on it.  That will give me a good project for today.  I was able to setup the speed dial on Pat cellphone and am working on getting her address book straightened out.

Mary Ann, when I first started reading your posting I thought wow, maybe we are related but then read further and see that is not the case.  We had a grandson that lived only to 7 months and died of SIDS and he would have been able to carry on our Hanna line of the family but it was not to be.  Glad that Kendrick got safely back inside the house and didn't have to spend the night out.

Marilyne, I have quite a few cousins on my mother side of the family so the Hall line will continue on into the future.

deAngel, so sorry that you have another toe infection.  You just don't seem to get away from these infections and other health issues.  I hope the infection isn't too serious.

MarsGal, it sounds like you have made great progress with you TV stand and getting things setup.  I would wonder if the modem/router might be failing.  I have had to replace mine two or three times with Comcast although the last one has worked for quite awhile and has now been replaced with the one I purchased the other day to stop the monthly rental charges of $11 per month.  I haven't noticed slower loading or drops although I have reduced my speed to 25 M for the 75 M I had before but really don't see much difference.

MarsGal

The router is always a possibility, Larry. I've only had it (and Verizon) for seven months. What is interesting is that it is, for the most part not dropping out. Windows and my Wireless Network Watcher program tell me it is connected. Why the Kindle Fire tablets work without dropping at all is beyond me. The router, BTW, is right by the TV. No problems so far today. It has the annoying habit of being intermittent. Antehma to anyone trying to find a problem, the common saying among techs is (or at least used to be) "The deader, the better''. Intermittents can take quite a while to track down and fix.

Oh, good. The fog is lifting. I have a grocery run to make, ran out of bread.

I'd say my birthday is officially over with as we had the final get-together today.  There were five of us.  We were at a restaurant but Dot brought some cup cakes anyway.  Terry's MIL brought some daffodils from her garden so as far as gifts were concerned this year, I had three bouquets of flowers and that's just the way I like it.

Grand Haven is pretty today - it is a beautiful day to begin with but the water near shore is dark, further out it is green and much further out it is dark again.  Put that with whitecaps and you have a pretty scene.  Two kites are flying as it is windy enough.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Yes, it is interesting, the way the water changes color at Grand Haven.  I just looked, and it's very dark near shore, then green, and way way out, is a stripe of a beautiful blue.  It's probably the way the sun is hitting the water a different angles?  It does look like a nice day there, with lots of whitecaps. I saw what looked like someone on a sailboard, on the other side of the pier?

Sounds like you had a nice family gathering today, for your birthday finale! Also lots of flowers and cupcakes. When do you plan to go to Indianapolis?  You'll probably have another birthday celebration when you get there? :)

Lindancer

MaryAnn, after a long life you deserve a long celebration,  ayou are so lucky to have such a loving family. Enjoy

Larry, yes I seem to have a lot of infections. I think the low blood count each week does not help.  I have had to get that expensive shot for the last 3 weeks. Now the foot doctor thinks I have gout in my toe and two fingers.  He took x rays and found no bone damage, I have to go for more lab test.  He thinks it is my kidneys are the cause,   every prescription I take has a warning, that says could cause kidney damage.  I did have renal failure when I was once in the hospital,  So much for the Golden years.

Beautiful day for a change, although we cannot seem to have two nice days in a row

Click for Riverhead, NY Forecast

Mary Ann

Gloria, I've begun to refer to the Golden Years as the Rusty Years.  I really can't complain, but I do know I don't have the same health I had 20 years ago.  I wish I could walk better and further but I do get to the mailbox occasionally.

Marilyn, I doubt we'll have a birthday celebration for me because I will be going to Indianapolis around June 1 for four days.  As many are in town then will gather at Tom's brother's house for a cookout and we'll all gab to catch up.  Tom's brother and wife will go to Europe for a river cruise, something I've wanted to do, and I'll be interested in hearing about it.  Also seeing some pictures.  But showing pictures these days is not so easy because people take pictures on their cell phones.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Good Sunday Morning to all. The sun is shining and it is 41oF. Even though sunny, the weather prognosticator is calling for it to only reach around 53oF today.

I plan on doing some housework today, including vacuuming, and tomorrow and Tuesday will be yardwork. It will be in the 60s on Monday and the high 70s on Tuesday. After that we are expecting to get several days in the 80s. I hope it doesn't get too muggy as I am not planning to put in the air conditioners until later in the month. The humidity and bugs do me in real quick.

While I was out grocery shopping yesterday morning, George called and left a message to see if I was interested in pizza. So I called back, then called the pizza place for delivery. George stayed quite a while and, for once, didn't turn the TV on first thing when he got here. In fact, he volunteered to help me finish mounting the TV to the stand. The optimal word is "volunteered" because with George, if I ask he often finds an excuse or at least sounds annoyed that I asked. So I rarely ask, and didn't this time. It almost always has to seem like it was his idea. Strange guy, sometimes. The only thing I have to do now is to straighten out some of the wiring that got moved around when I moved the TV, sound box and FIOS box to their final resting places. Yay!

larryhanna

Hi Everyone.  Once again we have a beautiful day on tap with lots of sun and it will get into the low 70's this afternoon.  My main activity today will be to attend Sunday School and Church and then pick up something for our main meal today.  Pat had to get up early as her back was hurting.  She will not attend Church today with me.

I had a very productive day yesterday as had a second day of feeling like doing something.  I did reset my Windows 10 on the laptop and got it restored.  I have decided to use Firefox as my default browser on my laptop and desk computers and just set it up on my desktop this morning.

MarsGal,  it almost sounds like your Internet may have been having quick cut offs although if your Kindle Fire was not experiencing the same thing then it makes that questionable.

Mary Ann, you are indeed loved with all of those celebrations.  Flowers are a great gift. I agree about the rust years.

deAngel, if you have gout in my toe and two fingers you must be enduring a lot of pain.  Pat has gotten gout in her big toe on several occasions and it was very painful.  I have been taking medicine for my heart for over 30 years now and it has done some damage to my kidneys as I have stage 3 kidney failure but that apparently is not of great concern to my doctors.  They keep and eye on it with the routine blood tests.  I hope you get a nice day up your way today.

MarsGal, do you enjoy doing yard work?  Combining that with housework and vacuuming is indeed hard work.  Our housework now primarily consists of straightening the beds daily, doing the laundry and getting the meals.  I do try to keep things in place and orderly as don't like clutter.  At least it shouldn't be uncomfortably hot to do that yard work.  Glad that George helped you get your TV setup done.  A job you can now mark off of your to-do list.

MarsGal

Larry, I used to love gardening. When I was married, I had a 20x80 foot main vegetable garden, several beds of strawberries, several fruit trees, a concord grape vine, a peppermint patch, a small herb garden. Also, the beds around the house included clematis, iris, daffodils, blue rug juniper, and sometimes petunias or marigolds. The first thing I'd do in the morning was to get my cout of tea and walk the yard to see what need tended to for the day.

After the divorce, I met George, moved in with him for about eight years, following him to Bethlehem. We lived in college housing while working and going back to college. All of which separated me from gardening. When I finally got back to a house in 1993 with a yard, I did some flower gardening. When I got my job at Fry, I moved to this house, intending to get back into gardening. Well, that didn't happen. With so much overtime, I didn't have a lot of time or energy to do much yard work. Now, my arthritis, the summer humidity and the bugs pretty much keep me from being out in the yard for much more than an hour, mostly less in the really hot weather.

Well, gabbing is not getting my housework done, so I better get to it.  I'll probably check back in later.

Marilyne

Good morning MarsGal and Larry. I think Mary Ann, is most likely at church, or enjoying her Sunday brunch with Dot, at the Cholesterol Pit?  Since I'm three hours behind everyone who posts in this folder,  I have the luxury of getting up and sitting here with my first cup of coffee, and reading what everyone else is already doing, or has already done!  It's 7:30 here, and I'm not even dressed yet, and AJ is still sleeping.

MarsGal - I used to love gardening too!  So much satisfaction derived from planting things, and then watching them bloom and grow.  We moved into this house in 1971, and because this area was once an apricot and plum orchard, there were a few trees left in every yard, when this street was developed.   We tried for a number of years to keep our trees healthy, but they were old, and had been neglected for too long.  We still have one Santa Rosa plum tree in front, but that's the last of the original orchard, I think?

Our back yard is huge, and has had a couple of  total redo's over the years.  We made the mistake once, about 20 plus years ago, of putting in a Redwood tree, at the fence line, to give us some privacy from a new house that was being built next door.  Well, it has grown to monumental heights and definitely belongs in a coastal Redwood forest, not in a suburban back yard! ::)  So that monster, dominates our yard, and the roots have pretty much destroyed the grass, and most nearby plantings.  We have to get permission from the town arborist, to have any tree taken out, and when he came out to look at this one, he declared it as healthy and good for the environment, so would not give us the okay to have it removed.

Oh dear, I've been rattling on and on, and must stop get on with the day.  I see that it's after 8 O'clock already!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

It was sunny a few moments ago,
but the clouds are rolling in and
showers are on the way,  so,
so much for a nice sunny day here...

The temperature days keeps getting
warmer, but we are experiencing
quite a bit of rain.   :'(

I keep buying things from Women's Within
but keep ordering sizes that are way too
big for me... and have to keep returning
things...  I am going to keep doing it until
I get it right...(which could be weeks!)

Have a good day,  everyone,
and don't take any wooden nickels!!

Mary Ann

Growing up with the father I had, it was natural to do some gardening.  I lived in the house where I grew up for 50 years although my parents were not there that long.  We always had some sort of garden, but nothing organized.  When we moved to the house, it was part of a plat that had been part of an orchard and we had a Montmorency cherry tree and a plum tree in the back yard.  All of the neighborhood kids seemed to like to play in our back yard and the plum tree suffered.  The cherry tree lasted a few years and my mother canned some cherries and also made some delicious cherry pies.  By themselves, the cherries were very tart.  Other neighbors had cherry and apple trees in their yards.

We had strawberries, asparagus, rhubarb and various flowers.  I didn't like asparagus until after Dad died and I couldn't stand to see it growing without being eaten and I found I liked it.  Still do.  Of course, I loved strawberries and tolerated the rhubarb.  I didn't pay too much attention to the maintenance of the garden, but I did mow the lawn regularly.  Now I try to have flowers but I can't maintain a garden, nor can Tom.   Mostly I have bulbs and perennials.  My neighbor is a big help because she takes care of the garden for me.

Yes, Marilyn, Dot and I went to church, then to the Cholesterol Pit where we had a cream pie and Tuna Melt.  Yum!

Sandy, my outfits are two pieces - tops and pants and I try to be coordinated, if not dressy.

Larry, are we to get an update on Windows 10 tomorrow?  Or will they stagger it like so many others do.

Beautiful day so far with the temp about 60 degrees.

Hi Everyone.  Our morning has started off in the 40's but we will see the mid-70's this afternoon and a lot of sun.  I have another funeral to attend at 11 am this morning.  It is for the 49 year old daughter of one of my coffee drinking friends.  She has been fighting cancer for several years.  This makes 3 funerals I will have gone to in about three or four weeks.  Jennifer and Elizabeth are planning on coming out this morning.  Elizabeth will help Pat in some reorganization in her sewing room.  I want her to wash the mildew off the columns on the front porch but it is probably not warm enough to do that today so that may not get done until a warmer day.  I also would like for her to go with me to the car wash and then do the cleaning out of the interior.  They have a vacuum there to use.  We don't seem to have any full-service car washes here like we had in Georgia.  That will be enough for today.  I did get to Sunday School and Church yesterday and then had a restful rest of the day.

MarsGal, you were a gardener in a big way.  I have tried having a small garden a few times but it has never really been successful and my money would have been better spent buying the produce.

Marilyne, when I post on Eastern time there usually aren't too many that have posted for the day ahead of me except others in the same time zone.  Too bad your fruit trees didn't survive all of these years.  The only fruit tree we had on our farm growing up was a Johnathan apple tree and they don't last long but sure made good apple butter or apple sauce.  This is really the first house I have owned that didn't have a pretty good sized yard.  That must be a beautiful redwood tree.

Sandy, Pat has bought several things from Women Within catalogs as well as from Blair.  I guess that is why we get so many catalogs.  I'll try to watch out for those wooden nickels today.  :)

Mary Ann, it sounds like the home you grew up in had a great yard and the fruit trees were nice.  I remember how tart cherries were picked right from the tree.  I don't like either asparagus or rhubarb. I don't know the timing on the Windows 10 update.  I thought they usually released those on a Wednesday but may be wrong.  I hope it doesn't mess things up as the updates sometimes do for some people.

larryhanna

Larry, I've been trying to remember the size of the lot in our first home and I can't.  There was one more lot east of us and that was not built on so we played there, kind of a big sand box.  Full of sand burs.  We'd dig holes almost to China.  Being a former fruit farm, there were a lot of fruit trees but bit by bit they died.  I am sure not one is left now.  East of us was a former farm and that was mostly field by then.  There was a stand of pine trees where we used to climb and get pitch all over us and a hill with grapevines where we used to play too.  We moved to that house 90 years ago this past January!  I can remember it as if it was yesterday.  That lot east of us was vacant for nearly 20 years so we were able to play there while growing up and by the time a house was built there, we were all adults and had jobs.

We already are in the mid-50s and it looks like another nice day.

Oh, the cat got out again last night but when I went to the door and called for him, he came right in.  We've just got to watch now that we have nice weather that he doesn't get out at night.  During the day he's fine on the porch for a few minutes, but at night, he disappears.  He may learn that I'm not going to stand at the door for any length of time to call him.  I think he really prefers to be inside at night.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Mary Ann, when I had my big yard, I used to let the cats (I had three) out. I tended to keep an eye on them and taught them boundaries. They didn't always adhere to the boundary limit, but they came running immediately when I called them back. Sometimes, when it was getting dark, Midnight would not come in when I called. I would go hunting for him around the house and after giving up, he would show up at the door ten minutes later. I swear the little stinker was close by just watching until I gave up. The cats I have had since, do not go out at all. They don't even try to sneak past me when I open the door, which kind of amazes me.

This afternoon, I plan on mowing the front yard again. Didn't I just to that?

For the last week I've been having a long wait for this site to connect, and again, when I logout. Once I am here, everything goes quickly.

SCFSue

When I was growing up, I hated rhubarb!  My grandmother kept a dish of it on her kitchen table every day--it was an ugly green color and slimy looking and tasting!  Then many years later, we lived in a rental home on Orr's Island in Maine.  There was a rhubarb plant growing there and my husband kept raving about rhubarb pie.  I found a recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens cook book and my husband, 3 sons, and I enjoyed that pie.  It depends on how it's cooked!  I would never cook rhubarb like my grandmother did.

Sue

Sandy

Sue,
Rhubarb Pie is great with lots of sugar,
and I like mine with Strawberries too..

Yum Yum !

Marilyne

Sandy - I agree that strawberry/rhubarb is delicious!  There is a yogurt out on the market now called Noosa.  One of the flavors is strawberry/rhubarb. Other flavors in that line that are also tasty and different, are blood orange, prune, and real honey.  (Noosa, is very pricey!)

Mary Ann - I'm afraid Kendrick is going to start waiting at the door when he knows its time for Tom to come home at night . . . then he will scoot right outside and disappear in the dark!  If Tom is aware, he can be prepared!  I'm okay with cats being outside in the daytime.  Winnie, and all my other cats, loved to sleep in the sun, sit on a tree branch, or stalk and catch gophers or moles.  Around here we have predators at night, like coyotes, bob-cats, and even the occasional mountain lion! We also have lots of skunks, raccoons and possums.  Just not a good environment at night,  for a domestic cat!  You probably don't have those wild animals in GR, so you wouldn't have to worry about him getting attacked. Mostly, cats just like to hide out in front, and watch "the passing parade".

Mary Ann

Marilyn, we do have skunks and raccoons but I think I've never seen a possum around here.  I think Kendrick does have a certain territory which is around our building because he came so fast last night.  I think Tom will be more prepared now but if I know Tom is opening the door, I can get there before the cat goes out.  This is not new; it has been a yearly occurrence, but I don't want to go through this nightly.

Hi Everyone.  It is another sunny but chilly morning in the 40's but suppose to get up to the mid-80's this afternoon.  The main thing on our agenda today is to go to vote on a $90 million dollar bond referendum to allow for building some new schools and renovating some that need a lot of repair and upgrading.  Two of the new schools are in North Augusta where I live and certainly can't hurt our property values as this is a growing area and I will vote iin favor of it.  It may raise my property taxes up by about $40 a year.

I did attend the funeral I mentioned yesterday and there had to have been between four and five hundred people in attendance.  It was the biggest funeral I have ever attended or expect to attend.  Jennifer and Elizabeth got here shortly before I had to leave and Elizabeth got busy right away and took out and cleaned the drain pipes for the five sinks we have in this house.  She then washed down the three columns on our front porch to remove the mildew and they sure look better.  She will paint them for us a little later.  Finally she washed our car and cleaned it out inside.  This young lady is a very capable person and is willing to do what needs to be done.  We paid her well for her work.  The rest of the day was spent resting and working more on my laptop.

Mary Ann, since I grew up on a farm there were no close neighbor children so we only got to play with them at school.  This was a little one room school house with one teacher for all eight grades.  There was a little room for coats and boots at one end of the building.  I am sure there must have been a wood stove but don't remember it.  That school building is long gone.  We did have a big yard around our farm house so there was plenty of room to run and play.  I expect that cats do most of their hunting at night so that is probably why Kendrick likes being out after dark.

MarsGal, our cat was not good about responding to our call and we tried to always keep him in the house but on a few occasions he slipped out a door when we opened it.  It took me a long time to stop worrying each time we opened the door after the cat was gone as had been so conditioned to be careful.  You are better at training your cats than we were.

Sue and Sandy, I don't even care for rhubarb when it is cooked in a strawberry/rhubarb pie and certainly not just alone.

Marilyne, you can have all of my strawberry/rhubarb yogurt.  In fact, you can have all of my yogurt.  We have a small container of yogurt in our refrigerator that Walmart gave to us in a Spring gift bag.  I do like frozen yogurt like they serve at the food court at Costco.  It sounds like you live in a nature preserve with all of those night time predators in your area.

Good morning Larry, and all others who are looking in or posting.
Larry, in my message yesterday, I should have said that we don't see all of those critters every night!  The only wild animals we can count on coming around on a regular basis are the raccoons and the coyotes.  The reason we have so many, is that this town is located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains, so the nocturnal animals come down into town at night, foraging for food and water.  I have never seen a mountain lion, (cougar), but lots of my neighbors have camera's set up outside, and when they get a picture of one prowling around their yard, they post it on Next Door.  Gives me the shivers!!

Larry, I can't imagine a funeral with five hundred people attending!  Your friend must have been very well liked in the community.
