Mary Ann, thanks, but too small for me.  Just knowing it is a park will do.  Thank you.

Joan, were you able to enlarge the area?  There is a plus (+) sign on the right side that allows the area to get larger.  I wish I could be beside you to help you.

Tom's former MIL has Mac D and had a machine to make things big enough to read.  I knew that, but still sent her an e-mail using 24-pt type.  She told me I didn't have to do that again because when she put it in her machine, there was one word on each line.  It was that large!  She is no longer online.

Good Afternoon Everyone....

We are still having cooler weather here,  so I haven't
had to put on the AC yet...     This feels so good.

I am watching Golf this afternoon too...   And it is a
real good day for watching.     Lot's of players have
an opportunity today to win this tournament.

My only complaint is that when Tiger is playing and
doing well,  as he is today,  they spend a lot of time
putting him on the camera.

And that kind of annoys me, as there are many others
that I would like to see.    Tiger has not won
for many years  (he is over 40 now)  and back
in the day when he was winning, winning, winning,
he was always the big attraction.
He has a way to go to get back there.

But the game is good today,  and I am really enjoying
it

Have a good day, everyone.

Sandy

Eyesight is terrible.  Thanks Mary Ann.

Joan, I knew you had eye problems which is why I had hoped you could enlarge it enough to see.  Well, we tried!

Sandy, I am with you regarding Tiger Woods.  He still is a very good player, but there are other, younger players I would like to see more of.

Now I'm going to finish my "brunch" that I didn't finish this morning.

Grand Haven is kind of busy, water a bit choppy, not too many boats in the water but many people in the water.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

I just looked at the schedule, and see that the Canadian ship, MICHIPICOTEN, will be arriving in Duluth at 5:15. (3:15 for me).  Then I noticed that it was built way back in 1952!  That's the oldest boat I recall seeing, so far?  That was the year I graduated from high school, which was a long time ago!  I'm surprised it's still in service, but I guess all the boats are constantly maintained, repaired and always up to date.

I also notice how much camera time they devote to Tiger Woods. I remember way back when he was the star, and was extremely popular.  He still has a big following I expect.  We're going out  for dinner tonight.  Not sure where, but it will be something simple like hamburgers or spaghetti.

wjoan

Mary Ann, making it larger just lightens it.  Thanks for trying tho.

Mary Ann

Sorry, Joan, as I said, we tried.

Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship game today.  Tiger Woods was a couple strokes back.  It was a good game.

I think I'll see if Kendrick wants to sit on the deck with me.  He doesn't really sit with me, but he does sometimes go out on the deck.  And he sits where he wants to, so there!!!

Mary Ann

Lindancer

Mary Ann and SandyI read in the paper, he brings in the money. When he plays more people come in to see him, and he has the biggest following.  I thought it nice he and Rickie Fowler stayed in the back to congratulate the winner, I notice they do not show his children any more and they were there last week. I am glad to see all these young guys winning, just wish Rickie was one of them  My other favorite is Matt K

Mary Ann

Gloria, I like Matt Kuchar too but I like a lot of the younger players who are appearing.  I can understand why course owners like Tiger when he ups the stand attendance; I hadn't thought of that.  When I look at overhead shots of the course, I am surprised at the distances and to think the players walked it four times this week.

I felt sorry for three little kids who came to my door to see if I had seen their black kitty.  I didn't ask how old she is and told them how Kendrick always has found his way back.  They said the kitty knows where she lives.  I hope they don't find her in the street in front of their building because they live on Five Mile, a busy street.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will be having another nice and warm summer day here in South Carolina with only a small chance of rain this afternoon and a high of 94 degrees.  Yesterday was an enjoyable day with the morning at Church and then Pat and I had lunch at Zaxby's enjoying a small chicken salad and then a quiet afternoon.  I did watch the golf tournament most of the  afternoon.  Nothing is on the schedule for today so will just have to wait and see what develops.  I don't expect to leave the house.

Marilyne, it really touched me in the video about the Magic Wheels when the father who started it mentioned he would not have his sons too long due to their medical conditions.  You could read the joy of the children as they sat in their special costumes.  That is certainly a labor of love.

Mary Ann, Annie will likely be in for a shock at the cost of the vet service when she takes Kendrick in.  Last week Scott took his little 14 year old dog to the vet and the bill was right at $250 for the check and the medicine.  He has found that he can get the medicine much cheaper at the drug store and here at a Tractor Supply store.  That was a good golf match with some final day ups and downs.

Joan, do you have a special monitor and keyboard and will it read the words to you from the screen?  I know a number of years ago I helped out a man with vision impairment and there was a special program that provided these tools.  He had a very large monitor and a keyboard with large letters and it allowed him to read and write. I think it was a government agency.  It was probably the same type of thing that Mary Ann talked about for Tom's former MIL.

Sandy, send some of that cool air on down here to the South.  However, I don't expect cool days for a few more weeks.  They do spend a lot of time covering Tiger Woods on the golf course.  He hasn't won a tournament in 10 years so that was quite an accomplishment to come in second.  I did hear the commentators talking about the fact that the winner was sort of in the shadows because of the interest of the fans in Tiger's play.

deAngel, the aerial shots of the crowds at the golf tournament questions showed that there were really a lot of people in attendance.  The training the young players must have gotten from their college golf coaches must have been really good.  Of course, they still have coaches and teachers to help them, even the best players.  My favorite players is Jason Spieth as it was his super play so early in his career that spurred my interest in watching golf again.  I used to watch when Palmer, Player, Nicholas, Watson and the others at that time were playing and they only were able to televise a couple of holes of play.  Now with the portable cameras they can cover the entire course.  Tiger's putting yesterday was really good but he sure had some problems with the shots off the tee.

Mary Ann

When he lived in Holland MI, my nephew, Terry, volunteered for a company whose name was PET (and now has a different name).  The company made carts for legless children in Africa so the children could be mobile.  The carts were kind of like plywood boxes with wheels but they did the trick.  I'll see if I can find the name and a picture so you can see how they look.  They're not as sophisticated as Magic Wheels but they work for those children.

I found the site and if you go there, click on Gallery and there are pictures of children (mostly) in the carts.  As I said, they are not as sophisticated as the Magic Wheels, but they do the job.  This is a "faith-based" organization.  After Terry and Jan moved from Holland to Grand Rapids, he no longer worked there.  Because of his disability payments, Terry could not hold a paying job so this was perfect for him.  Of course, he is no longer with us and Sunday his ashes will be interred in the Memory Garden of Jan's church where she grew up.

My favorite golfer on the PGA is
a cute little Auzzie named Jason Day.

He had  a great year last year,  not so much this year,
but that's ok....  I love to see him playing.

Larry, have a regular 21 inch monitor and my MSM keyboard is so old the letters are worn off it.  LOL  I do not need to see keyboard tho.   I understand that  the special equipment  is rather expensive.  I do ok  on what I have and do not feel like I am missing anything.

Goodafternoon, been raining hard all morning.

Mary Ann would you believe in my morning paper there is a full page picture of Tiger and in a box Brooks. Also they said the big question, was who was he kissing. It turns out it is the manager of his restaurant, who has been his girl friend since last Oct.

Larry, I do not think we will ever see the gentlemen golfer, like Palmer, Nicolas and of course Watson. Watson even wrote a book about his caddy,   The last time the seniors played at Bethpage, I did the walk with Travino, when they would slowup he came over and talked to us. I guess Phill is about the closest to them

Joan, my friend Gerta, had Macular degeneration and her son bought her some kind of special glasses to see TV,  She passed away at 100 other wise I would check about them  She played golf,  we would set herup. with her shoulder to the pin, she would almost hit a straight ball. She could see a little out of the side of her eyes. but not straight ahesd

Lindancer, that is what I have.  Unfortunately  it is not just my eyes.  My artificial knees are falling apart within my legs so that limits me quite a bit.  I am happy to stay in my apt tho and definitely  not  interested in going out in triple digit weather anyway.  Like I said before, I really do not feel like I am missing anything.  Been a lot of places and saw a lot in my 85 years.  :)  It is nice she had those special glasses.  They are available at the local Blind Assoc.

Lindancer

Joan, at lest you are in your own place, that is what you have going for you. Thesame with me at 94, I can ramble around or crawl around and no one care it is mine. Again I repeat I have wonderful neighbors, who watch out for me

From Lifehacker;

https://lifehacker.com/how-to-livestream-the-perseid-meteor-shower-tonight-1828290082

"The summer’s best media shower happens tonight. If you’ve been gearing up for the big event only to discover that the weather near you isn’t ideal for sky watching tonight, the online observatory Slooh has you covered with a webcast where they’ll be live-streaming the main event. The broadcast officially starts at 5pm ET, and you can view it in the embedded video below, or directly on Slooh’s website here.

As an added bonus (or a decent consolation for not seeing it in person), they’ll have astronomers available on the broadcast that will answer questions that viewers post on Twitter using the hashtag #Slooh.   The webcast is scheduled to run for eight hours, so you can check in throughout the night and see how things have changed. Tonight astronomers expect to see as many as 60 meteors per hour."

Mary Ann

Patricia, I wonder if there is a regular web site to view them because I am not on Twitter and I have too much light to view them in person.

Mary Ann

MarsGal

Mary Ann, YouTube has a bunch of videos on the meteor shower over the weekend. Just do a search for them and you will get them. Watch the dates, though because even though I specified 2018, I got other years and dates as well.

One of my favorite sites is www.spaceweather.com Right now the Perseids are taking center stage on their home page. There is a link to photos that people from all around the world have take on the event. Click on that and it takes you to them. There of pages and pages of meteor photos, not just Perseids Click on any of the thumbnails and it will bring up a larger version of that photo with info. Click on the the photo and it will bring up just the photo, even larger. You can right click on the photos to download them to your computer if you see one you like. I do that for auroras. If they are sized right, they make lovely desktop background pix.

Mary Ann

Thanks, MarsGal, I bookmarked that site for later viewing.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Patricia and MarsGal - Thanks for posting the sites showing the meteor showers! I hope get a good look tonight, if only on my computer.

MarsGal - Not sure if you're aware that a new Pet folder was opened here a couple of weeks ago?  So far it's all about cats, so I think you'll enjoy checking in and adding your two cents worth about Oscar, Lucy and Shan.

Thanks Patricia, we have had bd storms here for the last 3 days lots of flooding We Only have small lights on each drive way, so I do get a good look at the sky.  Maybe the clouds will clear later to night and I will look out.

Hi Everyone.  We are suppose to have a totally sunny day today, which is very unusual for us as we normally see clouds around 3 or 4 pm every afternoon.  It will be in the 90's.  Yesterday was a rather wasted day as spent a lot of time resting and listening to my audiobook with my eyes closed.  I am feeling more chipper this morning so hope to have a good day.  I only have one thing on the schedule and that is a friend will be stopping by around 10 am to spend an hour with me.  Unless Pat wants to go out to eat I don't expect to even leave the house today.

Mary Ann, in the Church we came from we had a special collection to support the PET program and I remember seeing either a video or some still pictures of the children using the carts and pushing themselves with poles to move around.  Reading some on the website should make us all stop and give thanks for how fortunate we are not to live under such conditions.  Thanks for posting the website.

Sandy, I find it interesting that a given golfer can be so good for a little while and then sort of fade into the background and then maybe make a new comeback and win again.  These golfers can make a lot of money just by placing in the upper ranks of the tournaments.

Joan, thanks for the info on your monitor and keyboard. I am glad you are able to use the regular computer.

deAngel, I saw some really staggering news footage of the flooding occurring in parts of New England and hope your area isn't impacted by it.  I have to wonder if some the younger golfers will not become more friendly to the crowd as they mature.  Pretty amazing that your friend with the Macular Degeneration could still play golf.  Determination means a lot.  You are so right that we do care about each other here in our cyber family.  I often share something that is going on in the life of one of you all with my wife.

Patricia, did you take in the meteor shower last evening?

MarsGal, I will have to check YouTube for the meteor shower as I certainly didn't stay up to watch them.  I will check out that site that you mentioned.

Marilyne, nice to see that a couple of new folders have been opened here.  I checked out some of the webcam sites yesterday looking at the cats and dogs and the bears.

Mary Ann

I did not stay up long enough to look at the meteor shower as I had an errant cat who made me tired.  We don't know how, but Kendrick was among the missing all day.  I think when Tom went out for breakfast in the dark, the cat slipped out the door.  It was almost noon when i decided he was outside.  He usually is very good about returning in the middle of the night, going to Tom's bedroom window.  So I went to bed and got up about 1:30 am for the usual reason.  Just to check, I turned on the porch light and opened the door.  There was an orange cat waiting to come in.  At one time he got onto my bed but when I coughed, he left.  When I got up about 7:30 am, he was at the foot of my bed, dead to the world.  He was still there at 9 am when we left for my haircut appointment.  When we returned about 10:30 am, he came out of the bedroom and is now in the living area, probably asleep again.  Such a cat!!!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I wonder what Kendrick was doing all day?  Hmmm, we'll never know, but glad that he's back home once again.  I can see that he would be very tired after a day or night out "on the town".

Larry, it seems to be the same with lots of the star athletes . . .  they have their season or seasons of being at the top of their game, and then they start to falter and begin to drop behind.  Many famous baseball pitchers have pitched their way to a World Series win, and then are never as good afterwards, and soon are no longer even playing.  Other athletes like star basketball players or football quarterbacks, seem to stay on top until they finally retire.  One thing for sure - all professional athletes make an incredible amount of money while they are playing.

Patricia and MarsGal - I really enjoyed looking at all the links you both posted yesterday for the meteor shower.  I never would have gotten up early enough to observe the showers in person . . . if they were even visible here.  Heavy fog last night and this morning, which is good weather for helping to get the fires under control, but bad weather for observing anything in the sky.

Lindancer

Mary Ann, Kendrick is keeping you young.  ;D He keeps you adrenaline going

Larry, I think Tiger is one of the ones that has mellowed with years. There was a time he did not speak to hiS playing partner, now I see him walking and talking. also he was touching hands that were held

Marilyne, I never saw the stars last nigh because of heavy rain
