I hate this keyboard. I just lost my almost ready post again. Okay, once more.

I've been getting a big kick out of the Kansas City Zoo Penguin Cam. They also have a live cam for their giraffes and polar bear. I have yet to see the polar bear, but the enclosure sure is nice. https://www.youtube.com/user/kansascityzoo

The webcam for the ferry landing at Molde, Norway is quite active, even in the middle of the night. I discovered it the other night when it was about 12:15am there. My SmartTV picks up the colorful lighting better than my computer. Watch it during the day and the activity really picks up and the webcam swings back and forth from the ferry landing to the end of the airport runway and back. The scenery across the water has been a wonderful mix of greys, blue-greys, black, charcoal, and white. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJbDmThdOB4
As I post the ferry is arriving. There don't seem to be too many vehicles lined up tonight as last night.

Jenny - I'm genuinely shocked, that Michele's mother hasn't been there for her daughter at this difficult time.  She could be such a help with the children, or the cooking and driving . . .  but mainly just sitting and being with Michele. Hard to understand, but there is probably a complicated back story there, that we will never know.  Such is the way in many families.

Mary Ann - Sorry you weren't feeling up to going to church this morning, and missed the farewell party for the woman who is moving to Kalamazoo.    I agree that it's wonderful that Tom and Annie, have such a good relationship.  That is great, that she's now wanting to cook some meals to have on hand.  Now-a-days, young people tend to eat most of their meals out . . . at least that's the way it is here in our area.  The restaurants are filled seven nights a week with couples or families.  That's one of the reasons that it's such a long wait at most places.  Our son and wife, eat out most nights.  Jackie is a great cook, and likes to cook, but they both work until about 6:00 every night, and are too tired to cook a meal for just the two of them.  When their kids were living at home, Jackie only worked part time,  so was home early and had plenty of time to shop and cook.  (Although the whole family went out to dinner a lot then too!).

Joy - looks like you have lots of fun family activities coming up in the next couple of months.  I've always liked to spend Easter Sunday, with the youngest members of the family.  Such fun, with the Easter baskets, and the colored eggs.  I still dye a dozen eggs, every year, even though there are no little children or Easter Bunny's around here anymore.

Patricia - if you have a Cost Plus Marketplace near you, or any store that specializes in ethnic foods from different countries, you will likely find a can of Mushy Peas!  The only brand we get here is called Bachelor's.  One can costs $1.99, so give it a try and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.  You just empty the can in a saucepan, stir and heat it up. The consistency is about like mashed potatoes.  The  taste is similar to split-pea soup, but much better IMO.   It pairs well with any meat, chicken and especially fish.

MaryTX - I just saw your post, and now I'm looking forward to finding the Marine City cam.  Sounds like it's different from the ones at Duluth or even The Soo.

MarsGal, I see you just posted also!  That's a great list of webcams for us to explore!  I'm looking forward to checking those out.

MarsGal, polar bear alert!

Marilyne no ethnic food commercial stores altho we have lots of just immigrant family stores altho no British ones.

I have the Marine, MI cam but have yet to see any movement in several months.

Mary Ann

What with going to Norway, Marine City, the Soo, Duluth and other ports, watching golf, watching penguins, I think I'm doing my own multi-tasking.  MaryTX, I had just left the Marine City site and it was moving.  There were no ships I could see at the time, but I have seen a ship on the river - I think the St Clair River.  Marilyn, Marine City is on the river and I think is not a port.  The scenery is nice to see and it looks like the camera is in a park.  It is on the eastern shore of the state and I have not been there in many, many years.

Those penguins are swift, jumping into the water and swimming.  I remember seeing the penguins in Montreal and it was cold in their area.  Fun to see, though.

Tom and I went out to eat shortly after 1 pm and we went to the New Beginnings where I had a Mushroom Swiss Burger and Onion Rings.  I ate half of the Burger and some of the Onion Rings.  Tomorrow I'll call Dot to see if we will do our Sunday thing then.  Tom will be teaching.

Sunday night....already!  Where do the weekend go?  We had two beautiful days and we sure enjoyed them.  We cleaned the garage that was so badly needed.  The back end of our SUV is packed with charitable items and the trash stack is very impressive.

JACKIE and MARILYNE, all mother's are not motherly.....I will leave it as that! Very sad!

MARILYNE, thank you for sharing the post from Shirley N.  Bless her heart.  I do hope she will be feeling much stronger very soon.  I had not thought about mashed peas in a very long time.  I might even go to Cost Plus and check out a can of them too.  Thank you, for that suggestion.

N. JOAN.  Congratulations on your weight loss, although it was not a ideal situation that brought this weight loss on. Happy for you getting some new clothes that FIT.  ENJOY!

JACKIE, I am sorry you needed a place to vent!  I know it had to be frightening for you to realize that R was not there for you had you needed to call for him.  🤬🤬. Of course this would upset you.

JOY, I bet the party was a fun time for all.  How nice you could bring home a couple of meals.

MARYANN, nice to read about Tom and Annie spending time together making some meals.  I am sorry you were not feeling well and were unable to go to church today.

I am off to bed....pleasant dreams to all.

Well its the day after the day before...now lets see what today has in store for me...All I can say is, thank heavens for my blood pressure tablets...

Mary Ann

Patricia, I was not following the ships in late 2017 so did not know about the floods in the area.  The scenes were very interesting to watch.  I watched a couple videos after the links were finished.  Living close to Lake Michigan all of my life, I find the water videos very interesting.  Thank you for posting them.  I sent the links to Tom in case he had not seen them.

I was getting a message about my sbcglobal.net account not being up to date and when I would click on it, I would get an AT&T site.  We recently changed from AT&T to Comcast because of the Internet speed for Tom and I thought it had to do with that.  Lake night I clicked on the site and got some instructions that I think have now taken care of the situation; at least I haven't had a message all morning so far.  I was getting them about every five minutes last night.

It is a bit damp out this morning, but no real precipitation.

Jenny, I hope Michele is feeling better today.  She is a trouper!

Good Morning Everyone from the cold,
and SNOWY,  rocky coast of Maine.

What a surprise when I looked out my
windows and saw snow on the ground
and in the air still..   It is suppose
to turn to rain later.   And I suspect
cold, wet and chilling to the bone
for the next few days.

Yikes!

Looking around at the web cams from
Duluth,  and the lakes region and
I see lots of rain and FOG around the
Northern Mid West as well as here in
New England.

Other wise all is well here.   Just
a bit disappointing as I as hoping
for a warmer, drier and sunnier
for cast..   :'(

Not to be here in New England.
It must be April showers...

Have a good day,  Everyone!

Sandy, when I saw your post this morning, I was reminded of our first glance of snow in May when we arrived in Brunswick where Bob was to be newly stationed.  We had an 8 month old baby, a new car we were paying for, and not much cash.  The only apartment available was a one bedroom walk-up over a butcher shop in downtown Brunswick.  We asked for a loan from his father to buy a small house (which I had to pay ASAP while Bob was deployed to Iceland) and I went without boots for almost a year!  I had an old pair of shoes left over from college that I would wear when I went out to a luncheon (which was required of officer's wives).  I carried my pumps in my car and would put them on before I went into the club where the luncheon was being held.

Ahh, those were the "good old days"!

Hi Everyone.  I have read all of the postings since yesterday but am only going to check in today as not feeling very good and am very tired.

Larry, I'm sorry you are not feeling so well today.  You did have a couple of good days before today and I'm sure they felt good.

Sandy, we are enjoying some sunshine and the temperature is in the high 50s.

Paul, the long ship, just came into Duluth and there were approximately 50 people to see it come into port.  It could be on the chilly side there, but that doesn't stop people who want to see a freighter.

I'm going to see if I can do something constructive today.  One thing, I have Robin to give unwanteds to for the thrift shop she supports.  I felt a bit remorseful after I gave her my ladies cane rocker but now someone can enjoy it; if I had kept it, it would have stayed in the corner under some blankets and afghans.  I still have to find places for the bedding, but the corner is more free than it had been in years.

Be off in a couple of hours or so to my-our, new " Association for the Disabled " bingo club social... Only joined a fortnight ago, so this is my, our second attendance, filled out the membership forms ready to take in...It was a fun, jovial and lively the first time so rather looking forwards to this evening, even though me and Richard haven't spoken two words together, he doesn't like conversation anyway...Well at least I shall be in good company amongst them, and hopefully some fun chat and laughter, now that is what I need more of in my life...I laughed a lot and was happy at the first one two weeks ago, it was a good atmosphere..Of course Richard is only there for the bingo, not the people, association or venue...Now if it wasn't for me finding these places to go for some entertainment, Richard wouldn't look for them...

Sue .... on the positive
side,  today there are many thrift shops  (Goodwill etc),
where you can get boots,  coats etc for very little
money.

Unfortunately,  the cost of
getting an apartment is now almost
prohibitive,  as the cost of living
here rises daily.

I am fortunate to be able to get into
senior housing,  which is very affordable
for me..   but young families?  My goodness,
I don't know how they can afford to live alone
these days...

How the times have changed...

It rained all night here and more rain is coming in.  A very dreary day but a good day for relaxing and reading a good book.

MaryTX, I added the Marine City St. Clair River webcam to my Favorites.  That is a really nice webcam.  All I've seen so far is a man walking his dog along that path.  But the scenery is beautiful.  Thanks for posting it.

The weather in the Midwest is going to be really bad for a few days.  Mary Ann, I hope your area misses it.  Larry I hope today gets better for you.

Think I will go look at some of those wintery webcams and appreciate the fact that we are just getting some rain!

MarsGal

Larry, sorry to hear you are not feeling so great today.

Here is the Paul back in 2014 fighting gale force winds in the canal. It looks like a little chunk of the hull is gone near the front waterline. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-i5UEbwXuY I am curious to know how the Paul got to be a favorite to watch.

When I checked in on Molde this morning (about 12:20pm their time) the sun was partly shining. The sky was shades of robin's egg blue and there were tinges of pink on the mountain tops and clouds. I could actually see some detail on the mountains and islands as well as color. There were three ferries in sight. One had just come in to dock and the other two were hanging back a ways. The farthest one may have been sailing away, but it was hard to see any movement. I didn't stick around long enough to see. It doesn't seem very long for them to unload vehicles and take on a new batch before they are off again.

Forgot to mention, 9.am tomorrow morning I have my long awaited haircut appointment...Just hope I will be able to get myself from A to B, now that they pedestrianised the area, cant even be dropped off by car outside, and as at today and during the last couple of weeks, my right leg join is still having nerve -  electric shocks - contractions, made harder having to put weight on it...I will get myself to that hairdressers even if I have to crawl, although dont think it will quite come to that..

Well my hair appointment might not be in time for this evenings social but at least I should look smart for tomorrow evenings local MS social gathering..

wjoan

Larrym hope you feel better soon.  Hugs.

Mary Ann

MarsGal, I think the Paul R Tregurtha is popular because it is one of the largest of the ships on the Great Lakes.  I've checked some of the other ships and most are less than 1000 feet, probably into the 800s.  Today there were only about 50 people viewing Paul as he came in, but that is very unusual; I wouldn't begin to start counting most of the time.  I have an idea the schedules are posted somewhere so people know when a ship is coming in.  And the arrival and departure times are changed at the drop of a hat.

Because my former Word program is no longer supported, I went to Word 2019 and it is like a foreign language to me right now.  I wanted to save a document I had written years ago and wanted to save it to a flash drive.  I had a message that certain parts had been changed and did I want to save it because the author's name was on it.  I've about had it with PC.  I am trying to save some old family pictures to send to a distant relative.  One action took me a half hour so I hope I learn the ropes before too long!

Mary Ann - I was unable to find the correct webcam, to view the ships at Marine City. I did find a couple, but they were nothing but a full page of advertisements, and I couldn't figure out how to bring up the cam?  I would appreciate it if you could post a link?

Larry - Sorry you aren't feeling well today. Yesterday looked like a good day for you, so I hope that "yesterday" will be repeated for you tomorrow!

Jean - your weather sounds about like mine today. Overcast and dreary, but not at all cold.  I set the furnace at night, to go on if the inside temps drop below 67. It never turned on last night, because the house temp stayed at 71 all night!  Outside it dropped to 55 degrees, but this old house has no insulation, so holds the heat.  Seems a little early, but maybe time to get the AC ready to turn on if needed.

Jackie - looks like I generated a little interest yesterday, in mushy peas.  Both Patricia and Jenny showed an interest, so maybe a new trend here in S&F?  I know you'll be happy to get your haircut tomorrow.  I tend to put it off, and then it always surprises me, how quickly my hair becomes shaggy and unkempt.  I'm due right now, but too much happening this week, so I'll have to put it off once again.

Jenny - I saw your post in Soda Shoppe, that Michele will be seeing an oncology specialist, at the University today.  I will be thinking about her, and hoping that he can help her.

Good morning everyone from the warm, sunny Interior! I'm sure you all know about those severe weather reports we often get and how sometimes they will stretch the severe portion of the report?

Yesterday's took that even further if possible. They really set the bar high in that respect.

"SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 6PM AKDT TUE ...SECOND SHORTEST SNOWPACK SEASON ON RECORD FOR FAIRBANKS... THE SNOWPACK DEPTH AT FAIRBANKS AFTER A VERY LATE START ON THE 9TH OF NOVEMBER LAST FALL FELL BELOW 1 INCH ON THE 3RD OF APRIL EFFECTIVELY ENDING THE 2018 TO 2019 SNOWPACK SEASON AT 146 DAYS. THIS IS THE SHORTEST SNOWPACK LENGTH OF THE MODERN ERA AND THE SECOND SHORTEST SNOWPACK SEASON IN THE CLIMATE RECORD AT FAIRBANKS. ONLY THE INCREDIBLE WINTER OF 1934 TO 1935 HAD A SHORTER SNOWPACK LENGTH OF 134 DAYS. IN THAT WINTER SNOWPACK FINALLY ESTABLISHED ITSELF FOR GOOD ON THE 26TH OF DECEMBER 1934 AFTER SEVERAL RECORD BREAKING WARM CHINOOK EVENTS MELTED OUT THE SNOWFALL THAT HAD FALLEN IN NOVEMBER AND EARLY DECEMBER. THERE WAS ONLY A TRACE OF SNOW ON THE GROUND ON THE 25TH OF DECEMBER 1934 AND THAT CHRISTMAS REMAINS AS THE ONLY "BROWN" CHRISTMAS IN FAIRBANKS IN THE CLIMATE RECORD. AS OF THE 7TH OF APRIL, THE SEASON TO DATE SNOWFALL FOR FAIRBANKS HAS ONLY BEEN 52.1 INCHES WHICH IS 10.0 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL SEASON TO DATE SNOWFALL FOR THE 7TH OF APRIL.

angelface555

MaryAnn, I started watching the cams in 2018 following yours and Marilyn's links, however, I find I really like the YouTube videos because you see the ship go from in or out, to or from berths without switching from cam to cam. The videos are usually posted within an hour or two of the actual event plus they include the radio transmissions which add another layer to the experience!

It is so nice to finally find new homes for clutter. You actually feel so much freer.

Sandy, there is another massive snowstorm predicted for the Midwest and on into the Northeast this week which is probably impacting your weather. It is the same here, prices are prohibitive, and now with the new fighter wing coming into one of the bases, everyone is raising their rates in anticipation.

Jackie, enjoy your day out and also your new haircut! I need one, but after dental for Farrah and this new desktop, anything else is going to have to wait...and wait.

Jean, I have yet to see anything on the Marine City cam.

MarsGal, MOLDE?  I enjoyed your cam video from 2014; it's nice to have known landmarks to compare the videos with.

Hello to Joan, Marilyne, Larry, Sue and all I've missed and all who comes after.

Marilyn, this is the only site for Marine City that I have.  Sometimes the view is stationary, other times it goes north, then south.  I have yet to catch a ship on the river, but I enjoy the ride.  The river is the St Clair River so the view is near the Detroit area.  I haven't looked at a map to see exactly where Marine City is and I am not that familiar with that side of the state.

Patricia, I can see why you like the You Tube version of the ships' travel but I'm content to watch the ships as they do their things.  What's fun about your links is the various ships shown after the trip through the canals.

Back from my " Disabled Associations " bingo social..no food goody bags this time but chose an apple loaf ( raffle ) and both myself and Richard won separately, four £1 Morrison Supermarket vouchers...I gave him my half so he has £8 to spend on a next food shop, oh and he won two cans of soup, one mushroom, one chicken, I have the chicken soup sitting in my food cupboard...

Denver

Good evening.  This day proved to be a good one.....so I am smiling🥰🥰

Michele's appointment went very well.  Some of the suggestions are not easy ones to accept, but this doctor made both Dave and Michele feel good about her situation and the hope and trust that he will be helping them through this.  One of the new plans is to do radiation on her lung for 6 weeks, so that will extend her chemo time. 😢  This Doctor will be monitoring things and assures them that if things on the current plan are not doing the job then he has other things that they can try. All we can do is trust in our Good Lord and accept all the love and prayers that you all are saying for us and rejoice in our blessings.

We picked Michele up at Dave's Office, so they were able to drive one car to the University.  She was hungry so we had a sub sandwich that she was craving.....we were thrilled she was hungry.  Then we decided to take a drive to see a lot that some friends of theirs have just purchased to build on soon.  She was feeling quite good and we ended up even looking at a show home that is nearer to their home and she was so happy to think that we might be interested in a possible move nearer to them. All in all it was a delightful time with her and I think she truly enjoyed the time also.  Bob kept asking her if she was OK, not wanting to wear her out too much, but she assured us she was doing good.  Now if she is feeling good tomorrow too, we will all be rejoicing!

JACKIE, how nice you were able to enjoy your time with the group at Bingo.  Now tomorrow at this time you will be feeling super happy after you get your hair cut before you go to your MS Group!  HUGS.

LARRY, I, too, am sorry today was not a better day for you.  I do hope you could take it easy and that a good night of rest will make tomorrow a better day for you.

Thank you, MARILYNE.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Jenny...
...yes I will, one hour 30 minutes to go at ( 9.am, ) he is still in his bed, and it takes half hour to get there, he has to have breakfast first and heaven knows how long he will spend in his bathroom...As long as he does get me there to have my hair cut, tidied and spruced up will be a blessing to me, I cant wait to come out with a shorter neat cut, and I like this hairdresser, he does my hair well, even if a tad pricey, its money worth spending...

Jenny-Patricia...thank you both for commenting on my hair appointment and last nights evening out, I so needed that and the company...

As for your Michelle, what can I say? but bless the Doctor for his positive words of encouragement of the plans he has for her, if the first one doesn't work, he has a plan B and so forth...Yes " hungry " is good, happy to read Michelle still has an appetite..

Jenny and Bob, think well before moving, the last thing you want is for them to move at a later date, move by all means but be happy in your choice, whatever you do, do not regret the move...I often look back now and regret my move, I might be estranged from my daughter but, I am also missing out on my great grandchild, he-she is missing out on me also...I am also not available to go to my parents cemetery to tidy up their grave, the headstone was sinking the last time I looked after I had signed some papers for the ground-workers to do some work on it, they had buried the bottom stone, the part that holds the flowers...I can honestly tell you that my parents would turn in their grave if they saw the state it was in..As I mentioned to you once, myself and Richard was putting our home on the market and heading back home, then he just changed his mind, without telling me of course, nor discussing it with me..

larryhanna

Hi Everyone.  We had a stormy and rainy late afternoon and evening yesterday and more rain is in the forecast for today but tomorrow and Thursday are suppose to be nice.  At least it is 86 degrees here yesterday afternoon.  They had to suspend the first practice round at the Master's Tournament yesterday due to the lightning and high winds.  We have the chance of having the same situation again this afternoon and evening.  I had a very good night's sleep last night but am still very tired today so am just going to check in again this morning after reading all the postings.

Joy

Good morning.  A pretty sunny morning, but it won't get up to the 80º that we had yesterday.

I am waiting for my DIL to come so I can get to Walmart to get some cash to put into the great-grands Easter cards.  SInce I don't get to see them that much, this is easier than trying to get Easter baskets put together and then find a way to get them to them.  Taking the easy way out.

Larry, I wrote you a short message over in the Soda Shoppe,  Hope you will feel better as the day goes by.

Jenny, I am so happy to read how the day went for Michele.  Having a good doctor that you are comfortable with is so important.  I know that had to make her feel better and also give a good boost to all the family.  Nice that you are able to help out when you can.  I know it is a kind of helpless feeling, but I am know your support gives her a good feeling.

Jackie, I am so sorry that you have so much unhappiness in your life.  I wish I could just give you a hug.  But, I can send you some cyber ones. (((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))).  It is good that you can kind of get pass the unkind comments and get on with your days.  I know getting a hair cut will make you feel a lot better.  Won't solve a lot of your inner feelings, but will give you a good feeling on the outside.  Just look in the mirror and smile and give yourself a "thumbs up".  You are a strong lady, as I know you have been experiencing these kind of "hurt feelings" for a very long time, and you are a SURVIVOR !!! Just keep being STRONG !!!!

I hope everyone will have a nice day.

...seems pretty quiet over here but sending a  although took some effort to find it...
Hope by the time your weathers turn for the better, you might feel up to venturing out a bit...

I will be soon getting ready for my ( local ) MS social this evening, think we have a quiz on tonight's agenda, followed by the trolley round of nibbles, biscuits, mini cheeses, grapes and a hot cup of tea or coffee, and not forgetting our bring something in raffle...

Joy...
...sending a big ((( hug ))) back to you...yes cyber hugs are good... :)
Yes maybe that is my weak point, being strong...deep down I am as weak as the next, well what is underneath is not as strong as what I show on the outside, but that goes for a lot of people also... Thank you, yes I am pleased with my new shorter haircut, at last I got it done but, tough going getting to the hairdressers shop as Richard decided without telling me that he was parking his car at a different parking spot, ah yes, you guessed, it was slightly further away, further and tougher for me to walk over those cobbled stones, and I didn't know where we were, have to admit I really did struggle as my join of leg kept having what I call these electrical pulses going through it...Ha ha, I found afterwards that Richard could have dropped me off outside as long as it was before 9.30am, which it was but, he wouldn't have been able to stay nor park the car...he had previously argued with me that he couldn't do this...

Joy, you have earnt the right in taking the easy way out...:D
