Maryc - Thanks for responding about Safari.  I'm still unable to get S&F, but I'm able to get all other websites that are on my Safari bookmarks . . . so it must have something to do with my connection?  I'll try to contact Oldiesman, and see if he has any suggestions?

I'll return later.  Have to get ready now to go to AJ's cardiologist appointment with him.  First appointment since he had the stroke.  I wish he were seeing a neurologist, but I think he has to follow a certain protocol.  I'm hoping the waiting room won't be filled with people.

MarsGal - I just came back in to respond to your message about ordering groceries.   We've been ordering and picking up, for the past month, and have not used any of the apps you mentioned.  WE go to the website for Safeway or other markets, and click on ORDER.  Then a list comes up of the different departments, and you click on Dairy Department, Bakery, Paper Goods, and any others, and make out your list.    Ours has to add up to $35 or more.   Some stores are $50 or more.  The site walks you through each step, so it's easy to order.   Hope you try again and have good luck.

Joy

MarsGal,  I was on-line shopping from Weis for a while, and they used Shipt.  When I joined little over a year ago, I only paid $50, as it was a promotional deal at that time.  Weis is a little higher than Walmart, but I like their produce better.  It is easy to shop with Shipt online and I always had nice delivery people.  Mostly young mothers while children were in school. But, I found out after a while, that if something is on sale,  you don't get the sale price.  That bothered me a lot. The cash register receipt was accidently left in the bag, and that is how I noticed the difference in prices.  Sometimes I paid as much as $10 difference than the actual register receipt and that really bothered me.  I called Shipt and that told me it was used for incidental charges.  So, when my year was up, I cancelled.  However, I am thinking about going back to them, because they deliver right to my door.  And, will just have to put up with the little higher prices.  I do like their products.

MarsGal

Marilyne, we used to have Safeway here, but not more. A&P disappeared also along with a few others. Right now, Giant is busy buying up more of the small local stores and chains. Karns had been resisting. Good for them. They are known for their wonderful meat department.

As for the store site, when I tried ordering from Giant, they shunted me over to Peapod Direct to sign up for delivery there, then didn't have much on offer. I didn't know this until the other day, but Ahold owns Peapod as well as Giant. They rolled out a new web app/site set-up just after I signed with them. My sister said she had to re-enter all her info when they did that. I have not looked at it yet. When Sue signs into Giant Direct, she must choose a delivery date before she does her shopping. As for Weis, they shunted me over to Shipt. They apparently revamped their online shopping too. They did not ask me to selected a delivery date; instead, the top of the page said they could deliver my order between 6 and 7 tonight. That is a nice difference. Sue must generally select an available date two weeks ahead. I'll take a look again this weekend. Joy, I knew about that, but forgot. Thanks for reminding me.

As for now, I must go feed George's cats again this weekend and gas the car and add some air to my tires, so I may as well just continue to show in store.

Marilyne -
Take a look at http://safari.helpmax.net/en/solving-problems/if-safari-cant-open-a-website/  You might find some good info there. Looks like others are having a similar problem.

I could not get into S and F on my Ipad which uses Safari. I came over to the Desktop and could not get into in on it either. Not I thought I was using Firefox on it.  I did manage to get in.  I don't know how to bring up the way to get to see what server I am using. That way could make it the one I like.  I still have a hard time on This W10 and knew where everything was onW7

Marilyne, I can't get into S&F using Safari or Firefox but downloaded Chrome and got right in.  I wonder what has caused the problem?

I haven't changed anything on my end.

Oh well, it is a beautiful day.  Have a good day everyone.

CallieOK

I had all kinds of issues with Cox this morning. Couldn't get into e-mail or several web sites. I ran a security check and nothing was wrong.
However, when I logged on about 1:30 (about 30 minutes ago), all was fine.

Shall we blame it on the virus - like everything else is?  ;)

All well in central Oklahoma.  Quite a few businesses are being allowed to open today with restrictions.  I'm sure the evening news will be full of stories - and will manage to find at least one "pitiful" interview with someone who was "mistreated"  :'(

"Okay, Callie, go sit in the corner 'til you can stop being snarky."  :-X

Wishing Everyfriend an Enjoyable Day.

I am having a problem with Firefox on my Desktop . Not  tried IPad again.  Pretty soon I do believe lots of problems are going to start up on The internet. Just to many things being done on it. What with the schooling and now the bank seem to be having problems with all these checks that are being sent to peoples accts.  Pretty soon the grocery stores will be having problems. Some of ours not taking checks at this time. When they went down in the past then all we could use was Money. Now some are saying no Money also. Will just have to sit back and see what happens. I don't think I need to go to any store for awhile now. Sort of overstocked.

I can't seem to get into this site with either Safari or Firefox and can't get into this site at all on my iPad.  Nothing has changed on my end so don't know what the problem is.  If I can't use my ipad i probably won't be posting in the future.  I have no trouble getting the seniors learning site.

I did see the Whitefish Bay ship leaving Marine City, MI while ago.

We had a lovely day.  I hope everyone is well.

Keep in mind that many more than usual are staying home, and likely many more using the Internet. Probably lots of streaming (movies, etc). Think OVERLOAD - just like the highways backing up on major holidays.  FWIW - I use Firefox and get in here OK.  Have had some email problems (Using Verizon, who uses AOL for their email provider. Hang in there everyone.

Beverly

Hello from north central Florida. Having beautiful weather here. I had some "down" days physically for a week or so. Some days I have a hard time staying awake. I'm not sure if it's just fatigue from the lung problems or something else going on. Felt good tonight so I went for a short walk. Even had a chance to talk to a couple of neighbors for a few minutes! Being housebound for 6 weeks is "getting old".  ::)

Rammel - You're right. A lot of people watch streaming movies, etc. I haven't had any problems getting on so far. I have  Microsoft Edge.

A family friend I've known since I was a child celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday. She's lived in my hometown her whole life. The town turned out with a "car parade" by her house and then a group of friends and neighbors gathered (socially distancing!) on her front lawn. They sang "Happy Birthday" in both Polish and English. They also presented her with a beautiful birthday cake. It was a chilly day but she sat on the front porch through the whole thing. I was so glad that someone took videos and posted them on the town's Facebook page so I was able to see it.

Enjoyed reading about all the "goodies". We made Snickerdoodles but they were in a pan and cut into squares.

Jackie - Your treat sounds a lot like bread pudding.

Callie - Your Mom's recipe for meat loaf is just like what I grew up on and made for my family, too.

Good night all.

I use Chrome and have had no issues in getting into here but, i did receive an email from Jenny ( Denver ) which was unreadable just a whole page of encrypted coded jargon that went on and on and on..

Beverly...
... not sure why i called it " bread and butter pudding " as i cant recollect whether we put butter on the bread slices or not...yet in hindsight i think we did..yes it was the butter that held the sugar in place...This was the way we were taught in school by our cookery lessons teacher..."

MarsGal

I wanted to email Kelly last week to see if he and his wife were okay, but I lost his email address when my laptop went into another coma after one of Microsoft's updates. Is anyone still keeping in contact with him?

It almost looked like a regular travel day on Rt. I83 yesterday and there was lots more foot traffic in front of my house too. PA has not eased restrictions yet, but it is obvious people are getting impatient. A number of northern tier counties will easy some restrictions on the 8th. It will be interesting to see how well this county by county easing of restrictions will work.

I am looking forward to a  :sun:  day today, with temps around 70; it is now 50 this morning. The front yard is looking like it wants mowing, but I am not sure I will get to it.

Marilyne

I'm definitely not switching over to Chrome, as my default browser, but will use it for S&F. I have hundreds of websites saved on Safari, as well as photos, and other stuff. I have no desire to switch everything to Chrome.  :shakehead:

Rick - thank you for posting the step by step instructions as to how to solve this problem of Safari not opening.  It didn't work for me, but I hope it worked for others?   In the meantime, I'm hoping we will hear from Oldiesman, as to why this has happened to those of us who use Apple devices?

Our Governor, Newsom, is under lots of pressure to lift all restrictions here in CA.   We are still getting over a hundred new cases of C-virus every day here in Santa Clara county.  They finally started  testing here, so the actual facts are now coming in.  I haven't looked at the paper this morning, so I haven't seen the latest statistics.

SCFSue

Good morning, all you Bait and Tacklers.  I know you must be missing Mary Ann's posts.  I look in every day and I do miss Mary Ann.  She was a lovely woman and certainly kept up with every one who checked in here.  I know her family is still in Mourning.  Thoughts and prayers go out to them from here in Auburn, Alabama.

FlaJean

Marilyn, I'm not switching to Chrome either but am using it just to get into this site.  I don't have a problem with any other site.  Also the Chrome on my ipad doesn't help me.  I just get a message saying the URL might have changed or doesn't exist.

Beverly, I hope you are feeling OK now.  Some days I really feel my age but today I felt pretty good for a change. :)

Our beaches and some of the parks opened today.  The beaches are open several hours in the morning and in the evening.  My daughter and son-in-law (a dedicated fisherman) went fishing this morning with some friends---keeping their distance from each other she said.  She said it was beautiful and so peaceful on the Gulf.

Jackie, how are you doing?  Sue, I imagine you got your walk today.  I don't suppose your church services are open yet.

Larry and I are in no hurry to get out and about.  I check the tally every day and every day more cases here are being reported.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice restful Sunday.

SCFSue

No church services here yet.  I am able to watch the Montgomery Presbyterian service online on Sunday mornings.  Our local church is not holding services at this time.  I don't know when they will resume.  My friend Marilyn had a private service for her husband with only one of our pastors and 10 family members.  Marilyn's hubby died with dementia.  She had to put him into a home because he became violent.  This has been a rough time for her.

Not much else going on here.  I will walk about 3 blocks down hill and back again for my exercise for today.  I hope Every Buddy looking in is well and safe.

Oldiesmann is aware people are having trouble getting here. I'm here fine with my Win10 laptop, but cannot find Michael's server with my IPad, either with Safari or Chrome.  I can get to all other sites fine with the iPad, but not to Michael's websites on his server.   He says he doesn't have an iPad so can't check it out.  Something is goofy somewhere.  I hope he can borrow an Ipad and see what we're talking about.  It simply will not locate this website, and used to find it just fine about a week ago.  Those with only Ipads aren't able to get here, amongst those I know.

jane

Marilyne

jane - Thank you for letting us know that Oldiesmann is working on the problem.  Lots of our members who post in S&F use an iPads or a Mac computer.  I notice a few who are missing in this folder, as well as in Leisure Activities.   It's not only Safari, that is down, but Firefox isn't working for me either?

Things are the same as ever here.  We're still sheltering-in-place, and will continue for as long as required.  New cases of C-virus are still showing up in our county every day.  Today I need to get out and walk.  I'm feeling restless and anxious, so need to get away from this house for a while.

It hasn't been quite two weeks since AJ had the stroke.   Nonetheless, he went out in the yard yesterday and used the Weed-Whacker, on a large section of our yard out in back.   I watched from the kitchen, and he was fine, and not even winded.   As long as he feels good, and can move easily, I know he'll continue to do the things he likes or wants to do.  He did promise me he would not mow the lawn until he sees the Cardiologist on Monday, and gets the OK. (or not)  Our lawnmower is one of those heavy ones, where you have to pull the cord a few times to get it started, then it's like pushing a tank around the yard!

FlaJean

It is a beautiful day today.  I did a little dusting and since have been reading a book.

I'm glad Oldiesman at least knows that there is a problem.  When I got that list from the Web Master about the info of traffic on the site I returned an email explaining my situation.  I addressed it to Dear Web Master and don't know if anyone will see it?

Not much going on here.  We are also having a few creeping numbers concerning the virus cases.  It is posted each morning and I usually check for our county.

Hope all are doing well.

Good evening from the dark and
quiet rocky coast of Maine.

I am sitting here waiting for
midnight to come around so
that I can put a food order
into Hannaford's (my grocery
store that delivers out
to the curbside)..

If I don't stay up until
Midnight I won't get a spot
and will have to stay up
tomorrow night as well.

I am using babbel to refresh
try to learn again French...

Just for something to do ...
as I am almost done rearranging
my apartment.

I am beginning to believe that
we are in a very long stretch
of social distancing..
in order for us to avoid
catching Covid_19..

That really sneeked up on us
and I wonder if we will ever
get back to living like
we use to.

If not,  it is probably a
good thing.  A change for
the better,  I hope.

My (no basis) guess is it's a security problem. Some setting causing the failure.  BUT - This is just a guess. Obviously the site is accessible with some browsers. My FF works here OK.

Good Afternoon Everyone !

As I mentioned yesterday,
I stayed up to midnight and
got my order put in.   Kelly
will  pick it up for me
tomorrow and delivery in
downstairs to me curbside.

Phew,  I am glad that I am able
to put orders in and have them
delivered.

So sorry to see that many people
are having problems getting in
here with their browsers.
So far, so good for me with
Windows 10 and my Firefox
browser.

Otherwise all is well if not
a bit lonely...I fight loneliness
by creating new ways to stay busy
and keep my mind occupied.

Have a good day,  Everyone!

Beautiful Spring weather here!  Daytime temps are in in the low to mid 70's, with a nice breeze, and nights are cool and comfortable for sleeping.  No need for AC yet.

Sandy - Sorry you have to stay up until Midnight, to get the delivery time you want.  We can order anytime, day or night, but no matter when we order, we still have to wait five days to a week, for our curbside pickup.   At first it seemed like a long wait, but now the days and weeks are moving along so quickly, that it doesn't seem like such a long time anymore.

Beverly - I hope you're feeling better, and that your bout with fatigue is gone?   The family friend you mentioned, who celebrated her 100th birthday . . .  I'm pretty sure I saw a feature story about her on our evening news a couple of days ago?   It showed her standing outside in front of her house, and cars were driving by and honking and waving, and all the neighbors were outside clapping, and holding Happy Birthday signs. It was so sweet to see her smiling and waving back at everyone.

jane and Rick  - It looks like Oldiesmann doesn't know what to do about the problems so many of us are having with accessing S&F? Because it's only a problem with those of us using Apple devices, that might make it easier to figure out the reason?   I don't have an iPad, but both AJ and I have IMac desktop computers.  He uses Firefox and I use Safari, and we can't get into S&F on either one.

I am more than a little irritated with Windows right now. I am getting a blue screen message that keeps popping up and it restarts my machine. I can get into my desktop, but this is the longest, so far, that I have stayed on before the screen. In other words, if I disappear for a few days, don't worry.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Home visiting nurse was sent this time, not a GP doctor but she was lovely, gave me a once over, took my temperature, blood pressure, all normal....although i told her the taking of blood samples ( she took four ) was the worst i have ever had done and i just wanted her to get it over with and take the needle out, it was in my arm far longer than i wanted it to be in my arm...she kept apologising as she was making conversation...
Yes she has confirmed it is cellulitis infection ( took photos ) and i shall be on yet another course of antibiotics for my lower-right mid leg and fluid retention build up in both legs....
I have now been on two separate courses of antibiotics-penicillin yet still not sorted my leg infection out...It will be home delivered by the chemist, just dont know when..
